Hey, and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips. You're here with Lisa and Brittany. And as you know, this is a watch rewatch podcast where we drink and we dish, and our current series is clickbait. And so today's episode, we're going to be focusing in on episode three, which is the wife. I'm one of your hosts. I'm Lisa. I'm Brittany. And we appreciate you being here with us and hanging out with us today. So as we teased, um, this is supposed to be a weekly podcast, but life happens.
SPEAKER_05It happens, guys.
SPEAKER_01And it has been a really, really crazy last couple of weeks. And so we just were not able to uh find the time to record and get an episode out. So what has been going on in your life, if you want to share?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I mean, that's okay. I was I was just telling you, Lisa, this has been a horrible March.
SPEAKER_06Um, we are right at the end of the month right now, and from literally day one of the month, it's been a whirlwind. Um, my first two weeks of March were surrounded by death, um, like very much in my circle, um, like my social circle. And the last two weeks of March have been just exciting and happy. And so I just feel like I've been like on a really low, low rise, and now I'm all the way up high.
SPEAKER_05And now that we're at the end of the month, I'm like balancing out, and I'm just like, shit, my body is taking a beaten just from everything going on. So I like I was just sick too. I'm still a little stuffy, and yeah, it's fucking stuff wild, but we're back.
SPEAKER_06We are back, yes, we're back. How has your month been, Lisa?
SPEAKER_01Um kind of crazy also, but without all the death. Um, but um I I was kind of pushed to um to a side hustle, and I don't want to talk too much about it. Um, but a good good friend of mine has has always utilizes my services, right? For for parties or for whatever. And finally, she just kind of like pushed me, pushed me, pushed me, and she got me my first paying gig. And so um that was exciting, and I was nervous as all hell, and um I had I had to prepare something edible, so I don't I just don't want to say too much because I don't want to like jinx it because I'm I'm in the process of like applying for a permit.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, I've seen some things too, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And so um literally she kind of gave me very short notice because it was um she got short notice, but I appreciate it because she when she got the opportunity, she immediately thought about me and I was like, you know what, it's it's time for me to take that leap. And I went home and started preparing stuff like late in the evening, and and then I went to work the next day and brought stuff in, and my coworkers were like, Oh my god, and I was like, No, no, I need taste testers and like honest opinions, and don't be afraid to tell me this sucks. And everyone was just like, Oh my god, this is delicious. So it went well, and I was I was so happy. Like she said that everyone was very happy, which made me very happy because I was I was so nervous. It's like this is like the first time that I do this for someone outside of my family.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because I mean, like, I've seen some creative things that you've done for like certain parties at your house and stuff, and it's just like your creativity like blows me out of the park. I'm just I'm surprised with like so many things that you do. I'm just like, oh my god, I would have never thought of that.
SPEAKER_01Like it's so sometimes the brain cells connect, you know? And um, and so then I had some leftovers, so I was like, you know what? I I boxed them up real pretty and I handed them out to my neighbors, and one of my neighbors literally the next morning is like, oh, um, could you do this for my wife? And so I was like, sure, no problem. So I have that coming up this week, but it's it's been a little bit, and you know, because then I want to do this the right way, so um I have my food handler's permit in New York, yeah. I'm certified in New York, and I'm like, fuck, I just moved to New Jersey, so now I had to do it all over again. So I did that. Um, I got my certificate. Um, I filled out, I like I talked to someone regarding taxes because I, you know, I just want to make sure what I'm getting into. Um and so yeah, so I did all the paperwork, I submitted for permits. I'm just kind of waiting to hear back. And I'm like, fingers crossed, like this would be this would be a fun little side hustle.
SPEAKER_06Um, I mean, it looks like a fun little side hustle.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so hopefully like soon I will be able to tell you guys more and and share that with you. Um, but yeah, and and my daughter's birthday, and like we're still trying to plan something for her. Um we are currently also throwing planning a surprise party for someone.
SPEAKER_05Can't tell you who, because the ears are always listening, but the mouth's always open doing something.
SPEAKER_01So, yeah, it's it's been it's been a lot on my end too, but um, and as you can hear, I'm like struggling to breathe a little bit because I'm asthmatic and my lungs are rebelling, so yeah, full of our lungs this week.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so god, I have little kids coughing in my face all last week.
SPEAKER_06I literally told them like on Monday, they were like, Why are you sick? And I'm like, You were coughing in my face last week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because you guys got germs, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, like one kid came in today and like handed me a paper and it was like a negative COVID test, and I was like, Oh my god, like what if I have COVID and it's just not coming up? Oh my god, oh god, anyway, let's get off of that.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, no, and then we went to a party this weekend in upstate New York, and it was beautiful and legit as the night went on, I just felt worse and worse. And I I think that um, like one of the really nice things that they had there was uh um there was a guy hand rolling Cuban cigars, and as cool as that was, cigar smoke is a trigger. So by the end of the night, I was like, I cannot breathe at all, and I wasn't even smoking, just you know, you smell it and and it's thick.
SPEAKER_06So I'm still recovering a little bit from that, like all these damn nebulizer treatments, and was it because it was like a long time you were sitting like at the table, like inhaling that? Because we went to a cigar shop once, and I don't know, it was so long ago, too. Like maybe your lungs were like different time, but did that bother you a lot that time?
SPEAKER_01Um, it doesn't usually bother me that bad, but I think also because I was already feeling a little bit under the weather and the like the season fluctuation when it's um spring, like changing from uh winter to spring, and then like summer to fall, those are the worst times of year for me.
SPEAKER_06And so I think that was already kind of playing um like playing with me, and then yeah, like you already have that against you, and then on top of the cigar smoke, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So your lungs were just like no, and he's like, Yeah, he's texting me from out on the patio, and he's like, They're good. Do you want one? And I'm like, I'll die. But oh my god, like, or is that the plan? Oh my god, no, so I was like, Well, save one for me. Maybe like when I feel better, we'll sit outside and I'll I'll smoke a cigar with you. But I was like, But right now, like I cannot, I was such a wet blanket, like all I wanted to do was feel good, like I had on such like a nice dress, I had on shoes, my hair. I wanted to be my ass on the dance floor, like shaking it, you know, and drinking open bar. And I barely finished my second drink. And at one point, I was sitting at the table reading on my Kindle app on my phone because I did not even have the energy to like move, and I was like, I feel so bad. Like, and then he's like, Do you just want to go back to the room? And I was like, No, like I don't want to ruin it for you too. Like, I'm cool, I'll just sit here and read, I'll entertain myself. Thank God for the Kindle app. Technology can uh save our asses sometimes. Um oh, and but then so aside from the Kindle app, right? Because I have like three books being read at the same time right now. So my uh so-called new bestie, Anthony from the Tis the Podcast podcast. Oh fellow golden girl lover, uh yeah, so he recommended a book that I never knew existed, and um, it's like all about the golden girls and like behind the scenes and stuff. Oh my god, so it's really hard to like, yeah. So it's really hard to like steal moments to to read because there's always something going on, but um, but I've been reading the book and it's so good. And then I saw a golden girls mad libs, and I got it. And so you want to do one, yeah.
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, I really hope it's like what's in Sophia's curse.
SPEAKER_01Well, it's called Welcome to Shady Pines. Oh, so you know how it works, right? I'm gonna ask you for kinds of words and you give them to me and then I'll read it. Ready? Yep, okay. Adjective.
SPEAKER_06Nasty. Is that a word? I think nasty will work. Also, I'm taping I'm taking a sip of my wine. Oh it's five o'clock.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm drinking Pinot. Clean. Oh, me too.
SPEAKER_01White wine. Hold on.
SPEAKER_05Cheers, y'all.
SPEAKER_01Okay, another adjective.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's not how you say it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, plural noun.
SPEAKER_06I'm a fucking teacher too. Like this is the worst part because like the kids will ask me too, like, what's a plural noun? I'm like, I don't know, it's learned together.
SPEAKER_00Um a plural noun is one thing. Um, no, no, it's multiple things. Oh my god. Am I drunk? Took a sip in them out. Um pocketbook. Oh.
SPEAKER_01Okay. In a plural occupation.
SPEAKER_05No. Dancers.
SPEAKER_01Dancers? Okay. Adjective.
SPEAKER_06Glittery.
SPEAKER_00What is it? Glittery. Yeah. I'll lower my mic.
SPEAKER_01Uh a place. No, I mean I can hear you fine. I just didn't catch it, that's all.
SPEAKER_06Oh, uh, let's do Newark, New Jersey.
SPEAKER_01Uh the sex one operator voice again. I love it.
SPEAKER_06Thanks. Newark, New Jersey.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_06Um, and now let's go with okay, side note, sidebar, because I'm thinking about something and it was really funny. I saw a video on Instagram, like a reel, and it was like uh like a rottweiler, like being forced to throw up in like the vet because they ate something wasn't supposed to. And the caption was like throwing up a rabbit. And I was like, why the fuck was this recommended to me? That's nasty. And it wasn't like the animal rabbit, it was like the adult friend rabbit. Oh my god. So that is my noun.
SPEAKER_01That's a thing. Uh rabbit. Okay, adjective. I don't know.
SPEAKER_06I know. I just I'm such a deer in headlights when it comes to shit like this. And I'm just like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Just look around the room. Colors, textures.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, we'll do bumpy.
SPEAKER_00Ooh.
SPEAKER_01Okay, noun.
SPEAKER_06Oh, you said noun? I thought you said now. I was like, okay, what now? And now let's do another. Should we do another place for a noun? Or should we do a person? We could do a person.
SPEAKER_00We'll do just not a proper noun. Hmm. Oh. Um, we'll do I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I have no clue. I mean, you can do a place or a person just so long as it's not like Texas or you know, yeah. Yeah. I mean, I I guess you could. I guess you could actually. Should we do another place?
SPEAKER_06Does it make sense?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it would make sense. Um yeah, even a proper noun would actually make sense here.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, I'm stuck. I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_06Uh let's do um, ooh, what's a really like like so dumb place? It's a dumb place. It's been a long day.
SPEAKER_00I can't tell you because I can look at it. Ah um why I I can't think.
SPEAKER_01I can't do this. Oh my gosh. Another person plays a thing. Look around your surroundings and just find any noun. A candle. Okay.
SPEAKER_06I have a candle lit next to me. Fiery. My candle is quite fiery right now.
SPEAKER_01A verb ending in ing.
SPEAKER_00Um burning.
SPEAKER_01Adjective.
SPEAKER_00Harry. Number.
SPEAKER_06Forty. That's from forty bodies and counting.
SPEAKER_01Oh, inside joking. If you want the story, I just have to go to Patreon. That was a nice segue. Look at you. Yeah. Uh type of food.
SPEAKER_00Mmm. Oatmeal. Hmm. Noun. Watery.
SPEAKER_01No. No, sorry, that was an adjective. I'm a fucking idiot. I'll just pick that in the next adjective. Two more nouns and a verb.
SPEAKER_06Um, okay. Noun. We could do like we could do like Port Lauderdale. And another noun could be um a bush.
SPEAKER_01Okay, and a verb.
SPEAKER_06And a verb could be sliding. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Okay, slide. Ready? Mm-hmm. All right. Welcome to Shady Pines. Are you looking for a place for your nasty mother to live out her remaining years? Shady Pines Retirement Home provides the most comfortable and moist environment you will find and is sure to please even the most particular of pocketbooks. Our dancers and nurses are the most glittery you will find in Newark, New Jersey. They provide round the rabbit care for all of our bumpy residents. That might be accurate. Each room is furnished with a candle-sized bed, fiery lighting, and hot and cold burning water.
SPEAKER_05Ankle burning water.
SPEAKER_01It almost makes sense. I know. Harry meals are served 40 times a day, including our famous oatmeal and parm. I'm sorry. Including our famous oatmeal parmesan and chicken pot Fort Lauderdale.
SPEAKER_06Chicken pot Fort Lauderdale has like just like a string bikini thrown in like oh my god. There's like a cigarette sticking out of like the turkey, like hoo-ha. Chicken, I mean. Oh my god. Like rotisserie chicken with like cigarettes sticking out of the hole and like bikini thrown over it.
SPEAKER_00And a pink bikini. Mm-hmm. Like bright pink.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. Yeah. Maybe some like um, what were those called? What were those like drinks called? Not monsters, the ones with the alcohol that all the kids used to drink.
SPEAKER_01Oh, four loco?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, with one of those like basted over it.
SPEAKER_01That sounds delicious. Mine of a cigarette. I mean, gotta draw the line somewhere. Yeah, you know. We even have a watery garden where our residents can slide in the fresh air. Shady Pines guarantees your mother a home surrounded by bush and tranquility.
SPEAKER_05Yo, I fucking suck at this.
SPEAKER_06That wasn't even like that funny. I think the funny part was like how much I cannot think of nouns, adjectives, and verbs.
SPEAKER_01I got an idea. Next time, let's do another one. Except I will put a post out on like Twitter or Instagram, and we'll just ask for the prompts, and we'll just let people do it.
SPEAKER_06I think just to one up that idea, I feel like it would be a great idea to throw it in like a shared Google Doc, and people can change the noun, verbs, and adjectives. And then finally, when we get to it and random people fill it in, I think that would be fun. Okay. I'm a big fan of the Google Docs now.
SPEAKER_01Okay, you may have to help me set that up, but yeah, we can yeah, I think that'd be fun.
SPEAKER_06Just having like strangers fill things in, or well, fans, but like but you know, kind of strangers too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it'd be big collaborative nightmare.
SPEAKER_06I love it.
SPEAKER_01A big collaborative nightmare. Sounds like a project, definitely.
SPEAKER_06All right, speaking of a nightmare, this is what Sophie's like is like this week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, seriously. Why is my sorry I try to pull up my notes and all of a sudden like my phone went kind of crazy, but it maybe I was thinking about a group project. All right, so the wife episode three. Did you enjoy this one?
SPEAKER_06I really did. I got a lot of answers that I really wanted.
SPEAKER_01Even me watching it again, I was like, ooh, I didn't catch that before. Okay, so I'm gonna run through, like, I just kind of made little chronological notes because I feel like we've been such like so stupefied the last couple of episodes because it's it's kind of hard to keep track of where shit goes.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because we're like, oh, this happened, and then this happened. Yeah, yeah. So we're trying to put it in order, even though like the episode's not really in order, right?
SPEAKER_01So the episode opens with a flat. And yeah, and it's um Nick and Sophie dancing, and you see that they're at a party. Um and then as the episode continues, you you kind of get like they go back to the flashbacks, and then you get a little bit more and a little bit more and a little bit more. So we'll we'll go back to the flashbacks at the end. In real time, the so Sophie's at the police station, and they're telling her that Nick was found and that he had signs of head trauma. So now they're also asking her to help ID the mystery man from the last episode.
SPEAKER_06And that was the man in the video at the bar with Nick, and he was the one that was like punching him, right?
SPEAKER_01And he was also the one who was on her social media, yeah.
SPEAKER_06And she says that would she say that that he's well, they were showing her the video from the bar, and she was like, Oh, I don't know who he is, or something like that. And then they're like, Okay, and then they pull up like the iPad with like the her social media page by him, and they're like, Don't lie to us, right?
SPEAKER_01And she was just like, Oh, well, he's a colleague. Which is obviously a lie that we find out later that he wasn't just a colleague, but we'll get there. But we find out that his name is Curtis Hamilton, and he's C H and he's an ex-colleague.
SPEAKER_06So they bring her home and her family is there, and the kids are like they they're just kind of like they want to talk, they want to know what happened, they you know because the kids are still thinking right now that like their dad's out there somewhere alive because they don't know. I mean, like they don't know what we know, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. So Sophie starts to break down, and then she tells them that he's dead. Kai acts weird. Yeah, he's like he wants to go get a knife, and he's like, I'll slit whoever did this, I'll slit his throat. Like, all right, Kai, take a seat because you're like 12.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, uh like literally, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Let's let's like let's take a breath, buddy. I get you're mad, but um sit your ass down. Um so she's just you know, like she's just dealing with that and her kids, and and I mean, I I couldn't even imagine how difficult it must be, but um Pia, meanwhile, is at the station and she tells Rashawn that that she wants uh him to take her to see Nick. But he says that she can't because the invis investigation is ongoing. Whatever.
SPEAKER_06I don't see why she can't go to the morgue and just see his body, but no, but her reaction was genuine, which makes me think that she's not really a suspect at all, honestly. She's just like his lifeless body is just gonna like she was like his body is just evidence, he's not a person anymore, and she was just trying to like still humanize her brother, even though everybody has just been looking at him as like just like not like an object, but just like he's not here, like he's nothing, and she was trying to still give like human qualities to him, which to me just totally takes the target off of her in my eyes, but even either way, like what's the big fucking deal?
SPEAKER_01Like, she's not asking to touch it or to move it. Let me touch my dead brother. Can we have a minute, please? We're about to Alabama shit non-labama with me now.
SPEAKER_06Anyway, no, but seriously, I just wanted to oh my god, yes, we are, but I mean, like, I don't know why they couldn't let her though. Like, she obviously had authority, that's her family. It's not like that's her best friend.
SPEAKER_01They're like, Oh, you're not family, so right, and you know how like usually those places have a window where they're like, you know, to I identify the body and then they lift the blinds. So why couldn't they just be like, all right, you can stay out here and you can see, but you can't get close enough to contaminate or to touch or whatever. I don't, I don't know. Like maybe there's something that I'm missing, but I just didn't see.
SPEAKER_06I remember watching that too, being like, Well, that's a little strange. It just looks like they're trying to get her out of there, like maybe because they're looking to do something with it. And not like necessarily in an investigative way. Like maybe they're trying to like manipulate the evidence, like aka his body.
SPEAKER_01You lost your sex operator voice.
SPEAKER_05I know. I had to do like a big gross six swallow, and I had to swallow a sip of wine.
SPEAKER_01Okay, well, I'll I'm back though. Oh, what are you wearing?
SPEAKER_06Oh my god, and I have my squeaky chair, and I hope everything's not being picked up on my mic.
SPEAKER_01Squeaky chair, sure, it's a chair. Um, it's the mice. It's sure, sure. It's it's those worn-out springs. So back at okay, okay, let's focus. Back at Sophie's house, Sophie is talking to Ruby, who's her mom, about maybe Curtis did it because, you know, quote, you know why. But she doesn't say why. But I mean, at this point, I think we are. We know because of the flashbacks, right? Like we're we're led there.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, like you could see like their hands are on each other in the flashbacks, and I think he even said, like, I love you, and one of them at this point. Like, you could see, like, without even them saying it, you can obviously tell that like they were in a relationship while she was married.
SPEAKER_01There was, yeah, absolutely 100% something going on. Because at that point, right, you get the flashback of Sophie and Curtis in the car together. So it's pretty obvious that, like, that you know, there was something going on that was not kosher. So Sophie says that it's her fault if Curtis did it. And I mean, I guess that's just like her guilt talking because like he's a fucking grown-ass man, even if he did, and yeah, she shouldn't have to be responsible for his actions.
SPEAKER_06But I digress, but Pia like sneaks in at this point, right? Or might be thinking about something else.
SPEAKER_01No, she comes in at that moment and she like commandeers the fucking wine. They have poured themselves a glasses, a glass of white wine for each of them, and so uh Pia just comes in and she like grabs a bottle, is like she pours it literally, she pours a glass like I pour a glass. So, all right, Pia. To the rim, to the rim, no unnecessary, you know, trips back to the kitchen. Oh my god, my watch. If it fits in the glass, you put it in the glass.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_01Um, but she she asks if she can sleep there, and Sophie's like, of course. And then you see her walk away, and all you see is like her muddy footprints through the house. Um, we go back to a flashback, and Nick is giving a toast, and now we know that it's an anniversary party.
SPEAKER_06Then we get like um that's when we get the commentary from Sophie's friends, which kind of like starts like the connection of different dots in this episode, right? So in in real time, Sophie's now, you know, fucking neurotic ass Sophie can't go to bed with mud on her floor, so she's mopping, and those scenes of her mopping are like interspersed with scenes from the flashback, and her friends are telling her in the flashback how her husband's like totally fuckable, like as he's talking to other women, and like he's looking over at her, and it's like you could tell like something sus is going on, she's putting the pictures together. I think her friends are also like like, oh, isn't he like the only person you've ever slept with?
SPEAKER_01Right, and she's they're like, Oh, yeah, like he was your first and your only. But mind you, she's texting Curtis. So do you hear the child? I hear the children so loud. That's just one. Oh my god, is that just a Maya? That's just the Maya. Somebody must be tickling her, but it's just your her figured. She's so funny, yeah. Oh, I hear her telling her friend my dad put me upside down. Um, so yeah, so those are like now we get a little bit more um exposition about their history and about like what their friends think about their relationship. So fine. At this point in real in real time, Sophie now goes to see Curtis, and she kind of like confronts him about what happened, and she has sneaks out of the house, but like not really, like, she literally walks past the reporters.
SPEAKER_06I'm like, how did they not see her? And she gets into a lift.
SPEAKER_01You know, I thought about that too because I'm like, okay, I understand that they have like a nice little house and whatever, and so she she must have gone out the backyard and around the side, yeah, which is just the side entrance, like it's still the property that the reporters didn't see your ass leaving.
SPEAKER_06It wasn't that big because then they show the reporters in the background talking to each other and they all look so fucking stupid because she's standing six feet away from them, like lift, not even like taxi with her arm up. She's like, Lift like they don't hear the coronera slam, like I hear the cornora slam down the block, and I'm like, the fuck is there?
SPEAKER_01Exactly, exactly. Those none of those reporters are getting uh Pulitzer Prize, or is that wait, is that for the book?
SPEAKER_05Oh, that may be for the book, Nobel Prize.
SPEAKER_01They're just they're not getting a Marlowe award. And when our morrow was a journalist, I went to the high school. But they're yeah, they're not getting anything because they suck, they are so fucking stupid. They none of them see her leave. Like, I'm sorry, but if I was camped out trying to get a story, how do you because then at some point, right? You see a car, you have to notice that a car came, stopped, and then continued. You don't wonder why?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it's just weird how they like even like they had to have seen her and ignored her. But I think the way that like Netflix wrote that in wasn't really smart, it just it kind of looked really like almost cringy because it's like you know she was trying to escape to see her ex-lover, but like at the same time, it's like you couldn't have like done that any better.
SPEAKER_01I would have been like um lift meet me down the block on the corner.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you know, I would have pulled um a Christina, and it would have been interesting to see like such a like a square that Sophie is like climb over fences of her neighbor's yards to like get to this, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but even even if she came right out, you know, from the side, right to speak. Yeah, if if if it were me, I would have then walked the opposite direction to the corner and and had a car pick me up there, yeah. Because then nobody is gonna see the car on the block, her getting in. I mean, the car never would have had to turn down the block, exactly.
SPEAKER_06They the car drove past them, but anyway, she gets in the car, she goes to CH. Yeah, what a square, yeah, yeah. But squares aren't bad, but she's just like she has these traits that are so sofine, it's like some shit that's like going on. I'm just like that. Like, when would like such a square cheat their marriage, too? Right, like that's not like a square treat to me, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But but that's that's probably also why she felt so guilty that she ended it when she did.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I mean, and we find out why she specifically ended it, I think a little bit later on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so when she gets there, um, he tells her that Nick messaged him to meet because he wanted to know what happened. Like, he wanted to know everything that happened, like every detail of like their interactions and like their private times. Like, I thought that was weird. I'm not gonna lie, I would have been like, no, I want to know everything too. I'm not the kind of person that like you know how sometimes people are like, no, like um, sometimes sometimes like ignorance is bliss. Yeah, like I'd rather not know because my imagination is fucking ridiculous, and the more shit that I make up in my head is to me is worse than any detail that you could tell me, no matter how much I don't like it. I would much rather know the fact than to live in the eternal hell that is my imagination, like yeah, it's just like I'll have you like doing some crazy shit and and like tormenting myself with crazy ass images, and turns out it was nothing like that, but you know, Chris didn't even have to tell them the truth anyway.
SPEAKER_06Like, who would have known the truth besides just Chris and Sophie? Chris Curtis, Curtis, Curtis, excuse me. I was like, who's Chris? Sophie, that you know, half glass of wine that I just had kicked in.
SPEAKER_01I mean some of whatever you're drinking, because clearly mine is not strong enough. Not yet. Okay, let's continue.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so Nick absorbs it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then and Curtis says that Nick attacked him.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, which is weird because like we all know, Sophie knows, and then Sophie even tells Curtis, like, I have the video I saw, but as she's telling him, I saw what happens, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01Well, the cops come in, the cops show up at his house because apparently they followed Sophie there, and then they take Curtis in and they take Sophie in for questioning. But I think that the takeaway point, right, is that Curtis clearly lied when she when he said that Nick attacked him. So if he's lying about that, is that a hint? Or is that just him trying to say face? I don't know.
SPEAKER_06I really don't know because like I feel like yeah, I'm just I'm thinking a lot because I'm just like I know Nick obviously had to say some dumb shit to like push him over the edge and make him do that.
SPEAKER_01And I'm wondering, like, if later on no idea what they said to each other.
SPEAKER_06I'm wondering if later on maybe the audio will get picked up, or like maybe we'll find out that Curtis was recording the whole thing, or Nick was recording the whole thing, and then his phone gets recovered or something.
SPEAKER_01Like, I feel like that would be like episode four, but yeah, because for all we know, Curtis was honest with Nick, or Curtis was like, Yeah, did your girl, and she loved it.
SPEAKER_06No, no, no, yeah, no, but I mean, like, but then Nick had to say something back for Curtis to be like, ah, I'm gonna punch you over and over, you know, right because you can see in the video, like Curtis is the one to take the first swing. It's not even like Nick was just sitting there, it's not even like he did something to him for she should come back, yeah. Yeah, so at this point, we get a flashback where Sophie admits to Nick that she had an affair on the night of that anniversary, like they go home, they're like getting undressed or whatever, and she's just like sitting there guilty as fuck, and she's like he did something.
SPEAKER_01He's getting undressed, but isn't he also packing for a trip to Los Angeles? Yeah, oh my god, sorry, I was so loud. No, it's but but the thing is like yeah, all the flashbacks take place on that day.
SPEAKER_06Okay, things are clicking for me as we're talking, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01So now okay, when I first watched, I feel like Nick was because he's obviously hurt, right? So she admits and she apologizes, and you know, like she clearly still loves him and whatever, and Nick obviously loves her, but Nick reacts in kind of like like he's jealous because he, you know, he was like, Oh, well, was it good and you know, was it worth it? Which I feel like is a typical response. And then like he ends up um, like he ends up on top of her and they end up like fucking on the bed. But then, you know, and I was just I just kind of took it as like, oh well, like I remember, okay, side sidebar. So like I remember once like reading this study about sperm and how if a man thinks that like his wife had been unfaithful or or that if she was with somebody else, then like his sperm work harder to fertilize her egg because it's like a genetic territorial thing. That's weird, yeah. But they're men, they're weird, so yeah, but so like that kind of popped in my mind when I was watching this. Like, oh no, now he's he's just gonna be like reminding her, like, no, I'm your man, and this is what you you know oh, like almost like a moment of like dominance in a way, yeah, but like reassuring, but like desp like but out of desperation, you know, if that makes sense. But then the second time I watched it, I was like, is it though? Or was it or was it um forceful really isn't the word, but uh shit. Like, why can't I think of words more like him not giving her a choice, like him him being territorial still, but kind of like this is mine and I'm taking it. Yeah, but not that she stopped him, but but it's almost kind of like he's not he's not asking for her consent, or like he took it, right?
SPEAKER_06That's why I was saying it's like reassuring dominance to me. Like he's reassuring her that he's the dominant one in that situation, right?
SPEAKER_01Because the first time, like I didn't really give it much thought, and it just seemed like okay, whatever, like she was willing, but then this time when I watched it, I'm like, was she?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't think the focus of that scene was to be on consent per se, and the fact that he was like in control, I think it was more just the fact that it's more like it's a little bit of how you were describing both, I feel like like they wanted you to see that he was upset and that he forgave her, and he did that through assuring his dominance, or like like making sure she understood his dominance in their relationship, and that she did wrong, and now this is happening, but at the same time, per se consent.
SPEAKER_01You the whole show started with a card saying that I abuse women, oh and then you have a scene like this. So am I getting in your head yet? Is it connected?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I wonder if like abuse, I mean physically or like emotionally, right? Hmm. I feel like when we see the word abuse, we just assume it's physical abuse, but it could just be like emotional turmoil, which is but I mean almost like it's I'm gonna say it's just as worse. Like emotional abuse is disgusting just as much as physical abuse is disgusting. But I wonder if like he likes to play mind games because I felt like that was his like mogo in that situation. Is it mogo? I'm thinking of mogo in Asbury Park, like the tacos. As soon as I said that, I thought of mogo, like the tacos sound so good right now. Yeah, oh Korean tacos and they're fucking fire. Oh, I love mogo anyway.
SPEAKER_01But um, yeah, but like let's let's be realistic. And no matter how happy your relationship or your marriage, I mean, there there is a such thing as rape in a marriage. I mean, if Lorena Bobbitt taught us anything, it's that. So, like, is is that a piece that we have been missing so far?
SPEAKER_06Maybe you think maybe that's why she like diverted? Like, this is her first love, it sounds like to me. The way that her friends were saying this is the first guy, like this is the only person you've ever slept with makes it sound like Nick is her first and only love. And so maybe she was just like, Is this love? Like, is this abuse love?
SPEAKER_01Well, we know he could be her first, but we we know he's not her only. Yeah. And her friends clearly don't know, so who knows what else they don't know. That's true.
SPEAKER_06We don't even know what her friends are. Done, which it's kind of alluded to towards the end in one of the last flashbacks. Yeah. So where are we now? Oh, so she's at the police station getting oh sorry. She's at the police station. I like went to move a hair on my face and just like smacked my mic with my finger. But um she's at the police station getting questioned, and she's seeing CH like being handcuffed, like walking away. And her friend is like her attorney now. And so she's sitting like in the um, what's that called? What the questioning room? The the what is it called? Investigation. No, interrogation. Thank you. She's sitting in like the interrogation room with like the bald guy, forgot his name, and like our detective. And like she's sitting, he's he's so annoying. He's he's too like he's too much. His energy just does not match like the energy that I thought he would have. Anyway, so the four of them are sitting there, they're asking her questions, and like Baldy's going in, and he's like, If you were if you were having your marriage, why'd you cheat? And she gets to a point where she's like, I'm not answering this anymore. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and they were they were really pressing her, and I I felt really bad in that situation for her. But um, she admits that like that was someone that she was sleeping with, like outside of her marriage, and um that I think she even says that Nick doesn't know, and after she is done answering, but Nick knew she she told him. No, but at first, like, didn't they say and was Nick aware of this? And she said no. No, no, I'm trying to remember. Maybe it wasn't.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_06I just know they were asking her questions that I'm like, this is weird.
SPEAKER_01The lawyer friend is like, oh, don't answer that, and she's just like, no, like, I don't care, I don't, you know, I just want it over.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, but then after after all that, she sneaks back into her house and P is sitting outside. P is sitting in, and it's it's really almost like symbolic of everything, too. It's P is sitting in the middle of the long side of the table where like the first scene of the show is where they were arguing, and that's when like Pia and Nick got into like that big fight. Um, Pia's just sitting at that same table with like her feet up, drinking. She's like, Where'd you come from? And she's like, It's three in the morning, where'd you come from?
SPEAKER_01And she was like, Yeah, okay. Yeah, um, but Pia tells her that Matt texts to let them know that the school is gonna have a memorial the next day. So now, okay, we're gonna have to do that. Sophie kind of just like goes on off to bed, and then in the morning she wakes up and she wait, what it's the oldest son's name, Ethan.
SPEAKER_06When does he leave the house? Because oh wait, no, we forgot something. Oh, so we gotta go back a little bit before no no no no before Sophie goes to the police station, right? No, oh, it's the next day. It's it's right, it's now perfect. Okay, okay, never mind, never mind. We're here. So this is a turning point, right?
SPEAKER_01So in the morning, when she comes, like I guess downstairs or to the living room or whatever, turns out that the video of Curtis being arrested has gone viral, and it's that same YouTube girl, but she's a little piece of shit that one, but yeah, it's that bitch, yeah. She's like, There's a breaking part in the case, like, oh my god. And so Sophie is like, shut it off, and and Ethan and Pia are like two fucking petulant kids, and they're like, No, we want to watch it. Shut it off, and they're like, No, we want to watch it.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, and like in the video, doesn't it say, or like in the little news story, it's like, oh, and like Sophie Brewer knows him or something.
SPEAKER_01Um, I don't I didn't catch that, but the kids know him because they're like, Oh, it's yeah, Mr. So and so, yeah, Hamilton, yeah, they're like, Oh, it's Mr. Hamilton, like did he kill dad? Blah blah blah. And now so uh Pia is like starting to put two and two together. So they end up going into the other room, and then they have words, and basically it comes out and Pia is pissed, and she and Sophie's like, it's a mistake. And Pia's like, No, you miss a birthday, it's a mistake. Like, you don't you don't have an appearance?
SPEAKER_06She on your spouse, and she's like, if it comes out that this man murdered my brother and your husband, this is on you, and Sophie's like, I fucking know it's on me. And I'm all the time, yeah. It I felt really bad because like Sophie knows who was on her, and it was just like again, and I felt like she was just like somebody was like cracking the whip at her. Like she was just like she was already down and she didn't need that, right? And then it turns out like Ruby wasn't doing her job as like number one grandma because she let Ethan listen to that whole conversation, and he's like, I think I don't know if he's like you were cheating on dad, or like if he just I don't even he doesn't even say anything, he just kind of like grabs his skateboard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, when Pia opens the door, they realize that he's just standing right outside, he heard everything, and he just kind of looks at them like like with this expression on his face, like his world has just been shattered. He grabs his skateboard and he bounces. And so now Sophie goes, she's like, I'm gonna go after him. So now, actually, wait, hold on. Before Sophie even comes downstairs, and that whole exchange happens, she looks out her window and she's she sees that the reporters are still out there and all the commotion is still out there, but then they show this lady standing at her car, and she's she's obviously not a reporter, she's not like with them, she's just kind of off to the side. She's looking sus. Yeah. Uh-huh. So, whatever. Like that, then okay, so then that all happens. And then as Sophie is driving around, she goes to like the skate park where Ethan usually hangs out, looking for him. She's showing his picture. When she goes back to her car, she sees that same lady like across the street, standing there, staring at her again. And Sophie is like, Oh no, I fucking had it. And she walks right over to her, like, stops the car, pounds on the window, like, what the fuck, lady. So bombshell, lady gets out. Yeah, and this is when we get like the bombshell of the well, the bombshell almost the the first half of the bombshell. And she tells her, like, oh, I just wanted you to hear it from me that and not the news that I was having an affair with your husband. And Sophie is just like, she doesn't even believe her, she really is just kind of like whatever bitch, you know. But then when she says that she lives in Los Angeles, Sophie kind of starts like second guessing herself.
SPEAKER_06And she says that they met on like this dating app, and he was using a fake name, right?
SPEAKER_01So he was using the name Danny Walters, that was his alias. So whatever. She just kind of like yells at the lady, makes her feel better about her whole life, and then goes back. Well, she ends up going to Pia's house because that's where Ethan ended up showing up, and Pia called Sophie, so she went over there to get him, which is like a turning point for Pia being super responsible.
SPEAKER_06Like, good, good job, Pia being a good fan.
SPEAKER_01Because Ethan is like, you called her, and she's like, Well, she's still your mother.
SPEAKER_06I mean, yeah, which right episode one, she was just like, Fuck you, Sophie.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, three episodes in, and we've made progress between them.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, it was I kind of like felt good in that moment. I'm just like, look at Pia go, I'm proud of her.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. So at that point, Sophie tells Pia about the lady, and uh Pia finds a deactivated account. What it was it? Two. Do you remember what the app was called?
SPEAKER_06No, but it was like the the number two, and it was like two gather or something like that, or two finder.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's supposed to be like or two closer or something like that. Yeah, clickbait's version of Tinder.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, pretty much. Um, so like a shady like dating app that like not a lot of people would be on. Oh, maybe it was like two, what's that dating app? It's like two fish in the sea or some shit like that. Oh, uh plenty of fish.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe it's supposed to be like that. Oh Mary Lady knowing these dating apps, baby. If you're listening, I'm not on them. Babe, but yeah, they they find the account and it's been deactivated.
SPEAKER_06P is like, I know a guy.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, I have like a hair in my mouth. Um, that's okay. Yeah, so P P is like, nah, it's cool. I got a guy. But then when Sophie gets home, she goes into his computer and she starts searching for the girl's name because she says her name is Emma Beasley. So she starts searching all kinds of um variations of her name, like spelling.
SPEAKER_06His emails, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and she doesn't find anything. So now we're like, hmm, Nick, who uses his hamster's full name as his password, is this guy so tech savvy that he can really hide emails from his lover in Los Angeles?
SPEAKER_06But and I think that's what she was thinking too. She's like, Oh, well, he's not really good at covering his tracks, like, meanwhile, butch brewer. Stupid.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so at this point, Curtis is cleared, and they they realize that like his alibi checks out, he he had nothing to do with it, and then they go to the memorial. Um, when they're at the remote at the memorial, one of the girls from the team comes up to Sophie, and it looks like she's about to tell her something, and this is the same one that we saw in episode one that was like really highlighted, right? And just as she's about to tell her something, Matt interrupts and kind of shoes her away. And Sophie's like, But what was that about?
SPEAKER_06And they're like, Oh, he's a little nothing, nothing, you know, whatever bullshit he says to say, like her last note was like, you know, he was really close with some of us, yeah. Like, very, very sketch, like what we were thinking from the beginning. And then Matt's like, Oh, you know, girl, he's everybody's friend shit that they say, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, Vincent shows up, and he's like, No, I'm supposed to be here. So they didn't want to let him in. They they had police presence at the memorial because they were afraid that the killer would show up, and so they wanted to make sure that they were protected or you know, just on the ball to you know, to to see.
SPEAKER_06I mean, meanwhile, the killer's probably in the building.
SPEAKER_01Might be so Vince shows up and he has something to show Pia. Well, we don't see what it is, but we we know that it's something important, so we have to wait for that. At this point, they are talking in the memorial, they're they're you know, giving speeches about Nick, and I'm guessing that it's that it became too much for her. So at this point, Sophie gets up to walk out, and this fucking bitch is like says something to Sophie, and Sophie is like, What? And she's like, Shame on you.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, because it's like it was on the news. Basically, the news said that like Sophie was cheating with Curtis, and so everybody thinks that like Sophie's like a terrible person. Meanwhile, like nobody's really paying attention to like the cards that Nick was holding, which I think is so funny. Like, you know, like the saying that just because someone dies doesn't make them a saint, right? I feel like everybody's thinking that like, oh, Nick's a saint because like he was murdered.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's that whole oh, don't speak ill of the dead. No, it doesn't absolve them of their sins. If they were an asshole alive, they're an asshole dead. Like, I don't care. Exactly.
SPEAKER_06And so, like, Sophie right now is like the bad guy and just some random lady. And she was random, right? She wasn't anybody that we knew. She was just like, you disgusting pig. Like, she says something like that. Sophie was like, What? And Sophie's holding like a cup of water, she throws it in the woman's face, which was so unsophy of Sophie.
SPEAKER_01I know she's lucky though, that that's all fucking Sophie did. Yeah, that that look that lady didn't get her fucking teeth knocked out because I'm sorry, but I don't care what your feelings are, I don't care what Sophie did. That's not the time nor the place. Her children are there, it's supposed to be in memory of Nick. So I don't care if Sophie was the devil, you don't do that. That's my opinion, but yeah, you know, whatever, whatever. They they kind of wrap that shit up, they leave, and then Sophie and Pia are talking about the app, the the two app, whatever, yeah, Cinder 2 app. And um, and apparently it looks like Emma was telling the truth. The profile they learn was created two years ago.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, like 2018. And like Sophie looks at one of the pictures that was on his profile and has a flashback because she's the one who took that photo of him, right? And it was right after I guess she told him that um she cheated on him, and it must have been like maybe a week or two weeks later, and they were like buy a bridge, and he was like, We'll get through this together, and she was like, This photo's from recently, it was like a month before, yeah, which is fucking wild. So, like he was like it's solidified now that he was cheating on her from up to two years ago, up until the time where he was murdered, which is wild.
SPEAKER_01So it's like all of a sudden, bombshell. Now, now there's a mistress. Like, first it was a mystery man, and now there's a mistress, and that is actually the next episode.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I know. I as soon as I was done with this one, I was like, shit, I wish we were recording right now because I want to watch the next one. So I'm so excited that I get to watch it tonight because I was just like Emma who like yeah, I want to learn about her, I want to learn about her story. She was probably abused by Nick, like I said earlier, like maybe physically, maybe mentally, maybe emotionally. Like, I really wonder what are your thoughts really about her.
SPEAKER_01Like, just just after seeing her in like the two scenes, like, do you have any um thoughts on her?
SPEAKER_06She seems timid, but I don't want to believe that she's completely timid. Maybe she feels like she did something wrong because maybe she didn't really know who he was. Like, he obviously kept his identity like super, super private. So she probably didn't know his job, didn't know that he had a family. And she probably found all this out when it was on the news because this is like a national news case, it's not just like in their town. So her out in LA is like, oh shit, like I was in a relationship with this guy probably up until recently. Yeah, and now he's dead. And like, oh my god, look, that's his wife and his kids, and maybe they maybe my story could help. So maybe she's innocent, but maybe she's also part of something a little bit bigger.
SPEAKER_01I think the next episode is a good one, but in my opinion, the episodes get better, like each one gets better because it has the last one to build on and it gives you a little bit more, and then it's like just when you kind of think, like, oh, okay, wait, what? You know, yeah, and so um I'm glad I'm really glad that you're enjoying it because, like I said, like even when I watched this the first time, I was just kind of like, Yeah, whatever. I'll I'm bored, I'll give it a sh a chance.
SPEAKER_06Um I just was like, I need to watch this whole series today, like yeah, that's that's exactly what I caught my mom doing, and I was just like, Mom, turn it off. I can't see this. Yeah, and she was saying she's like, No, it's really good. No, do I can't that's all you're telling me?
SPEAKER_01Do I have to watch my potty mouth? Is is mama gonna listen to this?
SPEAKER_06Oh no, I don't even think she really knows that I'm like on this podcast, but she wishes what she didn't know I was watching it, and I caught my mom watching it because I caught, I think she was on episode four, honestly, because I saw Emma's face and I was just like, wait a second, then I saw Nick's face, and I was like, Oh no! And so, like, that's why when I saw Emma in the episode, I was just like, I know who that is, but like I like meaning like she's a character, that's it. Like I was like, Okay, she's like obviously someone important because I've seen her before, and I accidentally caught like the tail end. It was literally the end of an episode, and it was like Emma and she was looking at her phone, it's probably the end of the next episode, but I couldn't see anything else. Okay, that's all I saw.
SPEAKER_01So um so we'll we'll return the next episode.
SPEAKER_06I feel like she's like important to the story, but like not so much. Like she gives us information that may be helpful, but it's not necessarily her that's involved. Then again, she just like popped in from LA. She could have been the one in the van, or she could have been involved somehow because maybe like Nick has strung her along for so many years. Maybe they have a kid together, maybe he has like a whole second family. Who knows? I feel like she didn't give so much away, but that could have been like when she said, Oh, sorry, when she said, like, I was in a relationship with your husband, it she like they maybe they had plans to get married. I don't know. Yeah, he seems really shady like that. Maybe he was planning on leaving Sophie too, and maybe that was the thing that he was telling P in the park when they were smoking. You know, like maybe he was saying that like maybe he wanted maybe he was really happy about being with Emma and he really wanted to tell P about her, but he knew that Pia would judge her really, really hard, even though like P is kind of loose as it is, so I didn't think like like Pia just seems like someone who's like, I don't give a shit, like I'll fuck who I want, like no relationships for me, and so like but like yes and no though.
SPEAKER_01Um I don't think I think Pia would have stood by Nick, no matter what, right? Because she obviously like has nothing but love for her brother, yeah. But um, and I don't I think it was the last episode, I don't think it was this one, but either way, um at one point when when Pia is talking about their relationship, and Pia is like Nick got his act together, like when Sophie came into the picture, like so. I think that I think that no matter what happens, and no matter how they they don't get along, I think that Pia still has love for the the love that Sophie gave to Nick, like she has unconditional love, right?
SPEAKER_06Like she she has love for the situation and love and like appreciation because remember they talked about that that Nick was going through shit or whatever, that he had like some trauma, but that Sophie was the one who helped him, and I think that Pia has an appreciation for that, and so I don't know if she necessarily would have been like, No, you can't leave Sophie, but I but she would have been hurt and like not taking his side a hundred percent because of how influential so she uh Sophie has been in his life.
SPEAKER_01I think it would have been it, I think it would have worried her for him to not be with Sophie, yeah, for his benefit, not for hers. But who knows? And then there was also the voicemail that he left her that night of the party when he was last seen.
SPEAKER_06Oh shit, how did it go? He was like, I have some shit to tell you, something like that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was the gist of it. So we don't even know what he was gonna say, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_06So I don't know, he seems kind of slick right now, really like organized, I want to say, because a lot of stuff was hid, and probably honestly, the mistress probably would have been hidden. Um okay, the mistress is obviously like Emma, right? So like she would have been hidden unless like his news story didn't hit like national coverage, probably, yeah, or even statewide coverage, or at least that's the gist right now. Yeah, that's what it seems like. Like, I don't think Sophie and Emma ever would have met if Nick never was murdered. So, um, the way that he was, so that's why it caught like traction because he did such a great job as like keeping those two parts of his life completely separate. There was no crossover anyway, right?
SPEAKER_01Right. Yeah, he was really totally blindsided, like she didn't even want to believe it at first. Yeah, even after like seeing the video online and this woman in her face telling her, even Sophia's still like, no, that can't be right. So, you know, and and and then it's like Oh, the relationship started six their rel okay. The app was created two months, two years prior.
unknownOh my god.
SPEAKER_01But she said their relationship began six months ago. Right. She could be lying though. No, but six months ago is when she ended it with Curtis.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so that's I think that's where it was clicking for me where I was like, what a picnic is like it it that's where I think I was thinking of Emma as like revenge, right? So like a revenge for Sophie, yeah. It just it seems like the clues that they were saying in the episode, what they were telling us, was that like as soon as Sophie admitted to having something, you know what? No, though, he was doing this beforehand, and I think well it had to be because the night that she told him that she was cheating on him, he was packing for LA. How could that have happened? He did that like before knowing.
SPEAKER_01Well, he may have been going to LA. That doesn't necessarily mean that he knew Emma.
SPEAKER_06It only makes oh, you're saying that maybe they met there, or maybe they met on the app there. Like he was just like on the app in his hotel room and he met up with her, right? Okay, maybe that happened.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like she tells him she tells him Saturday night and then Sunday morning, he's like, Well, this bitch, let's see who I could find, you know. Like, he's like, get that app out.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, like Fia in episode one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there you go. But um, so yeah, I'm I'm like reinvested now. And even though, like, I know I'm like, okay, I need the I need the next episode stat. Yeah, I can't wait to watch that tonight. Yeah, I I don't think I'm gonna get to watch it tonight, but I'll probably watch it like tomorrow or like Friday.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I have a feeling I'm gonna end up watching this twice, or at least like I could watch half tonight, which fucking sucks because I'm gonna watch the whole thing, and then I'll watch like the other half later on in the week. But maybe I'll just like rewatch it. Who knows? I'll see what I have time for tonight, but I really just want to see how episode four begins. And obviously, they're gonna tell the story from Emma's perspective, Emmer, Emma's perspective, but like how does it begin? How does her story start? I wonder, I wonder if she's just literally like this, and she's like swiping, and then like it shows Nick's face, and she's just like, he's cute. Yeah, and then he's like, What are you doing? Send pics, like some dumb shit like that.
SPEAKER_01You will just have to watch and find out, yeah. Yeah, so we will we will reconvene here next time for episode four, the mistress, and I'm excited. So am I. Oh, you know what? We forgot to talk about what's up. We have we updated our uh Patreon tiers. Oh yeah, we did. We have we've never like we did it, and then we never even announced it. So Brittany and her creative words has helped me update the Patreon tiers, so um, yeah, they're fun, they're no longer loss themed, they're now clickbait. Not everybody like bait, they're like they're just like drinking themed.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I don't know if we were like a little drunk or a little delirious when we were doing this.
SPEAKER_01Both.
SPEAKER_06I think we were both, and then on top of that, I remember like the cat dander just like hit its peak on me, and I was like, Oh, funny, like it was just all at once, but yeah, that was a great night when we came up with all that, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then we are we are planning to do um the last like when we get to the finale, so we are planning to do a live stream while we record. So if you if you want to be part of that, you can join Patreon, doesn't matter which level, there's three available. Uh, but yeah, so if you want to be part of that and and have fun with us and drink with us, and just you know, be part of this train wreck. There's room all aboard. Um I promise we're a good time. That's what she said. So yeah, yeah, but anyway, this episode was fun, and and if you come on the live, you can help us do we'll do another, we could do another Mad Libs, and you can help.
SPEAKER_06Yes, yeah, maybe I could just write in the answers, and then everybody else could think of the ideas.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I you know, I could do that though. I could send you the um because you see how on the I I took a copy, like I made a copy of it, so I didn't have to have the whole book, but on the top, it just like if you want to play by yourself, it gives you the prompts. So I could always send that to you in advance. Yeah, that could help. And then this way, like I think what it is. You guys don't have to listen to us like uh adjective.
SPEAKER_06Um yeah, I really hope some of that's cut out because that's really fucking sad. But like honestly, that's years of like me going through group work in school from being a little kid, like up until like I don't know, last semester in college, where I've just like I'm a toot my own horn. I have neat handwriting, so I've always been the scriber in the group, and everybody always tells me the ideas, and I don't have to think, I just write. And so when it's time it comes time for me to think of things, I'm just like, uh like I don't know, people just tell me write shit and I do that. Like that's what I'm used to, but like it just I always struggle with like coming up with things on the spot like that. But I'm really excited to have some viewer input on that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, even doing one live will be fun. Yeah, I I I think that would be fun too. So, anything else before we wrap this up?
SPEAKER_06I think we covered like everything. Um, we got caught up in our lives, we got caught up in the show. Oh um we're super excited for the next episode.
SPEAKER_01And super excited, yeah. I'm super interested.
SPEAKER_06Oh, don't be sorry. I'm just I'm planning my night tonight, and I'm like, okay, I'm gonna go my oh, I'm getting stuffy again. I'm gonna get I'm gonna put bigs on my chest again.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna go. Put a little in your nose, yeah.
SPEAKER_06And yeah, I'm gonna make like a big old cup of tea now, and I'm gonna watch this episode and bask in it. But until next time, yes.
SPEAKER_01So, as always, if you like what you hear, we ask that you kindly support our show. There are many ways to do that. You can make sure that you subscribe or follow, I believe is the new fancy terminology. You can find us on social media, you can tell a few friends, or just literally grab their phones and download our podcast into their app because we definitely, definitely advocate for that. And you can support us financially on Patreon or buy me a coffee, and actually, all of you a day quill. Buy Brittany a day quill, she needs it. Can you not hear it? And Lisa, we need the day quill. I need an albuterol, is what I need. Buy us a lung, buy me a lung. That's the new app coming out in 2023. Buy me a lung. Um, but yes, if you go to sassinsips.com, it will have all of our links, social media, email, our financial support links, and we kindly answer. No, no, they're just fun, and you should and they're not it's not the same if you don't read them, you know.
SPEAKER_04That's true.
SPEAKER_01Because also if you if you go to Patreon, then you can see not only like what the tiers are called and their descriptions, but then you also see what you get for joining. So it's it's a lot to read. So just just go there and humor us. Um, yeah, they were funny.
SPEAKER_06I remember just sitting there and I was like, Oh, that shit came out of my brain. Like, I know y'all don't think about that because of the way that I played mad libs earlier, but I swear, I don't know. It was the cat dander, it was the red wine, but like something in me got super creative, and I came up with shit with Lisa. I mean, we could be funny sometimes, and then we could sound like death.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know, but you know, sometimes it's just like we carry a lot with us every day. Sometimes, sometimes we don't let it go as easily as we should. And and unfortunately, like I think last episode we carried a little bit too much, but yeah, this episode, uh, we I think we made up for it because we just we just had so much shit going on, literally. And and I think that even though like it sucked to have to wait two weeks to like get the episode out and like and have this discussion, because I was so looking forward to talking about this, but I think that it was smart because we were just so stressed these last few weeks that um you know, I think that we just we just wouldn't have gotten like um a good episode out of it. It is what it is, you know. Life life fucking happens, and if you don't have issues pop up in your life, then maybe this is not the podcast for you. No, because we can't relate.
SPEAKER_06No, but look, shit happened, she bounced back, you're resilient, and that's look, that's life.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, that's all you can do, but um, yeah. So as always, drink responsibly, like you know, on the internet with your friends. But and until next time, I'm Lisa, I'm Brittany, and we are out of here. Bye.
