Walkabout Addendum
We talk theories on the monster and pose the question: "What does a monster want?"
But on a very serious note:
The crisis in Australia is absolutely heartbreaking. Fueled by record heat due to the global climate crisis, several animal species are now endangerof extinction. The fires are estimated to have killed more than 20 people, burned 1400 homes to the ground, 12 million acres of land, and wiped out about a billion animals since september, including 8000 koalas.

Welcome everyone to our walkabout addendum. I'm Lisa.
SPEAKER_00I'm Agnes.
SPEAKER_01And we are your hosts. How you doing today?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I wasn't too sure of my name today, as you can tell.
SPEAKER_01Um. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Right, there's nothing you can say to that.
SPEAKER_01It's like we're we're fine. We talk and we're fine, and then once we start recording, it's like, uh, what's my name?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So today we're just gonna talk about some theories on the monster.
SPEAKER_00The monster?
SPEAKER_01The monster. As we've seen in the show so far, the monster is responsible for the pilot, for killing the pilot, for knocking down trees, but then when it came to lock, he went face to face, I guess, with it.
SPEAKER_00Right, right. Yeah, I guess that's the best thing you can say face to face.
SPEAKER_01So, any theories on what it is, what it does, what it wants?
SPEAKER_00Um like like all monsters, as we know, they just want to survive and be and be understood for what the mother they don't want, they just want to live being today. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Um They just want to go to work, come home and have a beer?
SPEAKER_00Like free, you know, just live a good life. That's all a monster really wants. Um, you know what? That's an interesting question though. I've never thought about what a monster really wants other than, you know, each shit. You know what I mean? And what does it want?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. But I mean, do you ever think about what a monster wants? That's like you're like, I don't know, to kill and eat? I don't know. You know, you don't think about what a monster wants to do. What's their purpose in life? Does it have goals?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, come to think of it, I never have thought about what a monster wants. This is this will be the question for uh the year 2020. What does a monster want? What are what is when we're talking about what are our goals, what what's the monster's goal?
SPEAKER_00I am high on I'm like loopy on theraplu and all this other medication, so you better forgive me.
SPEAKER_01So if there are any monsters out there who are listening, you might you know email us and let us know what your goals are.
SPEAKER_00That's something we need this is another podcast idea. But um, I mean, we got polar bears, we have creatures of some sort, because monster seems too subfictional. We have a creature of some sort out there killing pilots and the polar bear.
SPEAKER_01The polar bear did not kill the pilot.
SPEAKER_00No, but this is all the things that we have. We have polar bears, comma, we've got creatures killing pilots and staring down at mock. We have a lot going on and nothing at all as by this episode. So I'm like, okay. I don't have enough I don't have enough empirical data to give me a to give an opinion.
SPEAKER_01I know that's why I'm asking you so far, because you'll get a little bit more as the series go on goes on, but Yeah, but I didn't have nothing to go on.
SPEAKER_00I'm like, that's it, so I'm like, okay, there, it's a creature. There's a monster, okay? It's already put in the back burner of my brain. And so I get a little bit something else. I'm like, okay, it's there, it's eating people. And this is what, day four, day five of them on the island?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, something like that. And I bring it up because it's it's the monster versus Locke. And I know how you feel about Locke. So here we here we are again seeing that there's something special about him because the monster comes right at him and he survives when they all thought that he was a goner.
SPEAKER_00Not only does he survive, he obviously has to have a connection with them. So that's my man Locke. He's a cool dude. I don't know. Alright. I don't know, mate, but I I'm curious to see does the creature make any appearances, any more appearances after this though Company Jesus moment they had together.
SPEAKER_01The monster will be back.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Alright.
SPEAKER_01I'll tell you that much. And eventually you will get to see kind of what the monster is.
SPEAKER_00Oh. Okay. Okay. Alrighty. I'll be waiting with bated breath.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I bet.
SPEAKER_00Will Locke be ri Will be riding him like, hey, welcome to the you know, no, no, you will be riding him into the the the center of village, no? Okay. I kind of see that.
SPEAKER_01Sure, and and then they'll give like tours around the island and monster rides for for the low, low cost of a dollar. Or or no, they don't have money. So a coconut.
SPEAKER_00Seashell. Seashell. Like I give you a seashell.
SPEAKER_01Monster rides, one seashell.
SPEAKER_00See what happens when you're like loopy on thoraflu?
SPEAKER_01It's funny.
SPEAKER_00It's special. I don't know how funny I am right now. I see people might be concerned for my sanity.
SPEAKER_01Well. So on a serious note though, there are some really serious fires going on in Australia. And I don't have the figures in front of me, but I know that something like a half a million or half billion animals have died, and it's they're they're just in dire need of help. So if you are able to and you'd like to make a donation, we're gonna put some links in our show notes if you'd like to help. And especially since we're talking about lost and they all left out of Australia. I feel like there's a little bit of a little connection here, so I'd like to do my part and at least bring it up and talk about it because they they really do need help. So that's all. So please stay tuned for the next episode. The next full episode will be White Rabbit. It comes out on Monday. And until then, everyone, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes, and we out of here.
