SPEAKER_01

Hi and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips. Today we're talking about Good Girls Season 4, Episode 9, Chef Boy RD. I'm Lisa, and today I'm sipping on coffee. It's caffeinated, but that's about the only thing fun that's in there because I'm just exhausted from a long week, and yeah, I just I just need that that that first sip feeling you get, like when you drink the coffee in the morning, you know.

SPEAKER_02

That fresh cup, that first sip from the first cup of the pot, hits different.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So that's that's where I'm at right now. So I'm gonna be enjoying this too much over here.

SPEAKER_02

I am your co-host, Agnes, and I'm just drinking on water because I gotta upset Tommy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because you overdid it yesterday.

SPEAKER_02

I ate too much food. First. And I don't regret it. I mean, I do regret it, but I don't regret it. I didn't regret it at the moment. Today my my stomach regrets it, but I don't, if that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

There you go.

SPEAKER_02

So do you have any hot takes on Chef Boy RD? Which let's not say the title anymore because just even the thought of food is making me.

SPEAKER_01

And here I was gonna say I really want some like mini raviolis now. I'm hungry. And you're not, you're the complete opposite, but I am hungry. I'm so hungry right now.

SPEAKER_02

We are the opposite end of the spectrum because I am just anti. Do you know? Random thought. I woke up this morning and I got a notification from Target like your package was delivered. I was like, what the fuck did I buy? Like, I got everything I ordered. Apparently, I forgot I ordered a shawl, like a scarf to go with this dress I ordered. I got. But it was coming from their warehouse. And it was like two weeks ago. I completely forgot I ordered it. I'm like, oh.

SPEAKER_01

The first thing I would have thought was it's a scam. But like, you know how so many times they're like, oh, your post, uh, your package, blah, blah, blah, text here to pay the postage, or um your package is delivered, check here to update your oh, okay. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it was the actual get the target notification. I was like, huh? Oh, right, the scarf. Yeah. Duh. Any hot takes on this episode, which I would not say the name of.

SPEAKER_01

Aside from the fact that you had to wait all the way to the end to find out what the relevance was, and I still want to raviolis. I was a little disturbed by that part, like at the end. But but I don't know if it's because I am confused. So I guess we'll like Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. She's like, I'm disturbed because I don't understand what I'm watching.

SPEAKER_01

Isn't that why people get disturbed when they don't understand things? But like, I don't want to go off on a half-cock theory, you know, because the internet told me so. I figured I'd wait and I'd ask for clarification first. So then I can go off on a full cocked rant.

SPEAKER_02

No, just right, okay, there you go. Okay, cool. Cool. Because what is your initial half-cock theory? I was like, no, let's just wait for the actual full cock later. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

No, maybe because maybe then when you're explaining, I'll I'll realize my mistake.

SPEAKER_02

And then the whole that could be a second, a second episode.

SPEAKER_00

Just on your theory alone.

SPEAKER_02

This episode opens with a police officer. He wakes up, like, we don't know he's a police officer, let's be real. This random dude, we have no idea who he is. He I guess he hears his noise, he looks at his clock, and it's 4 46, and he just gets up. So I'm assuming since he's not alarmed, he has an idea, you know, he's someone he knows in the house making noise. And it's his daughter who's making pancakes.

SPEAKER_01

Well, like, you see him get up from and he's like the only one in the bed. So I assumed it was like his wife. And then when they go into the kitchen, there's a female cooking, and I think you're still supposed to think, like, oh, is that like his girlfriend, his wife?

SPEAKER_02

Because you can't see if because it's her back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and they're just having like this conversation, like, you can't sleep again. Oh, same nightmare, which one was it? Like, whatever. And then you see her get down from the stool and she's like so little, and you're like, oh, that's that's a kid.

SPEAKER_02

That's a kid. Whoops. They go through the different types of nightmares she's having. And this one is that she's been kidnapped. And she they came from the basement. He goes, Well, I locked up everything. He goes, but they break, you know, they break in, whatever. And he has decided that he doesn't want blueberries in his pancakes as he's drinking the coffee. She pours for him. And he says, Well, nothing's gonna happen to you, not when I'm here. And I'm still like, what the actual fake new? Who are you? Who is this little girl? What does this have to do with anything? I'm confusion. Then you see the same gentleman walk in in uniform. He's a cop, and he walks into a diner, and he's like, Councilman, do you have a minute to chat? And it's Nick. So you're like, okay, where's the connection? What's the connection? You don't know. Dave and Phoebe are in, I think, the lobby of the hotel room, and they are, well, Dave is drinking it up. He's like, Phoebe is Phoebeing. And Beth walks in, like, what happened to our meet? Like, where did why didn't you guys show up? And they're like, Yeah, DC pulled the plug. She's like, Well, figure something out. Because, you know, this is her life, her husband. He's like, What about Dean? And Dave keeps saying, have a drink. She goes, but what about this? Have a drink. But what about this? Have a drink. And I feel like that's our mantra, and I'm here for it all. I'm here for it all.

SPEAKER_01

Have a drink just solves everything. What a drink.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But they're like, listen, Rio has someone on this on the inside because that deal shot is not happening. Then you see Beth talking to the girls, and Ruby's saying, like, what about this? And she's like, have a drink. She's like, but what about this? Have a drink.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they do they do do that pretty well where they like mirror shit.

SPEAKER_02

They kind of just like segue to yeah. So Beth is really seriously considering like Thai Thailand at this point. I said Thailand. What the hell's wrong with me? She's really considering Thailand anywhere at this point. Then Beth asks Ruby if she still has the bags to sell. And Ruby's just like, ugh. She promised Stan that no Beth, that this is their thing. But then Ruby tells Stan they should bring her in. And she tells him the truth about, you know, she helped you out and tells the truth about why Jean was arrested. And Stan reluctantly acquiesces. Like, fine, I guess. Beth is sitting at the park with Dean and they're talking, and their daughter, don't ask me her name, because I don't know. Four seasons end. I probably never know and I don't care.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's like a Jane and there's a Kenny, and the other two, they have no names, and the other kid you barely even see.

SPEAKER_02

So I mean But they have four kids, but they only see two or three at a time. She jumps off the swing and she's running. I got her poop. And I'm like, girl, I've been there. He was just like, Dean goes, okay, I'll take her.

SPEAKER_01

But he takes it Okay, uh is this just a thing? And maybe I don't get it, but um, I feel like if I were in the park, if me and my husband were in the park with one of our children, or were they all there?

SPEAKER_02

I think it was I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I Because it seemed like it was just the one. And then he's like, I'll run her phone. I'll take her.

SPEAKER_02

You make like I guess Beth had to be there for the other kids who are the different part of the city.

SPEAKER_01

That part makes sense, but I'm like, it just felt like she was the only one there, and Beth was just kind of like, okay, I'll wait here. Like, I wouldn't sit in the park and wait while my I don't I don't know. It just what if the kid decided to stay home? Then what? What do you do?

SPEAKER_02

I guess the other ones were still there. That's why I I just assumed that they were other parts of the park.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Because that that part was like, why is she still sitting in the park? Like, obviously to wait for Rio, but Right.

SPEAKER_02

And then as you said, Rio pops in unannounced, like he just slides right in. And he's like, Did you have a little errand for me? She's like, now, here? What the fuck? And as they're talking, Dean is still walking away towards the minivan. You can see Dean behind Rio in this every time they the camera pans to Rio. And it's just like so close and yet so far. Like you could touch him. He wants Bet to go, you know. How did you go pick up my funny money? Like go run to Walmart and pick me up some razor blades. No, get my funny money out. He goes, Well, set up a play date with Phoebe. She's like, Well, I just can't, just like, what the fuck? So he's like, Yeah, figure it out. And he gets off the bench and leaves, just as Dean turns around to wave goodbye to um Beth.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, come on. Such, such TV timing. I know.

SPEAKER_02

I love the TV timing. So she obviously has to give the good news to the girls. And Ruby goes, you know, do you realize breaking into the hotel room and stealing federal evidence is a kamikaze mission? And Annie goes, Yeah, it's like it's a suicide mission. Ruby's like, that is what kamikaze mission means. Like, what the hell? So the ladies meet up with Stan to go over their bag operation, and you can feel the tension there, you can cut the tension with a butter knife. And of course, Beth bets and almost immediately tries to take over the whole conversation. Because you know, because Beth can't be a follower. But watching Stan and Beth kind of walk around each other figuratively is really uncomfortable for me. Because I'm kind of team Stan on this one. So he's telling her the plan with getting the moms and doing the fourth grade kids instead of the third grade kids, because you know, different moms. And he's like, well, what about Irish twins? You know, because you could have the same mom, which is a good point. And we go, oh, that's not not that not a problem here. Great. But Beth has an opinion and she does find a flaw in the plan. And it's pretty much, I'm gonna keep it short. It is the the mom text chain, which is very valid. Like one of those moms is gonna be able to tell a fake. I can tell a fake in most labels, but honestly, yeah, it's a good he has a good point. I'm not mad at it. So Stan was like, okay, do you have a better idea? And she does. Now, mind you, Beth historically has good ideas, but they always end up going down the shitter. And I feel like this is the reason they are in episode four, epit they're in season four, episode nine, because they don't, you know. She is not Hannibal Smith. The plants don't always come together.

SPEAKER_01

Who is Hannibal Smith? From the A Team.

SPEAKER_02

I love when the plant comes together.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't like I guess I didn't remember his name.

SPEAKER_02

I have no life, so there's that. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

SPEAKER_02

Using the dancers from the club, they attempt to force a private party of men to buy their lookalikes, their knockoffs, before the women strip. Like they have the women teasing, and then they stop. So two of the guys are about to open their wallets because they want to see the boobies. And then the last guy was like, yeah, no, you're not doing this. And he flashes his badge. Another cop. I mean, at least they didn't get arrested, you know. So there's that. Yeah. And Stan was like, and the fourth grade moms were like, yeah, the fourth grade moms were really risky. But I'm like, that was really a problem. Phoebe is collecting her case files and the money and all that stuff. And you hear, like, she's talking to a cop. All you do is get like the camera view of the officer looking at her. So you know who she's talking to. You're paying no mind to the situation. She gets her stuff, she leaves, and another officer comes in eating a really good sandwich. It looked really good. Even with my upset tummy, I'm like, oh, that looked like a good sandwich. You know what I want? I want a sandwich. I want a guy like a turkey and I want a ham. Do I want ham and cheese? No, I want ham turkey and cheese with mayonnaise, salt, and pepper from a deli, a bodega. Because something with shredding the lettuce.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and and the onions. You gotta put the onions on it.

SPEAKER_02

Onions in it. Just shredding it just makes it hit different.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Every time. All the time. We gotta go. I need one. Can you send me one, Lisa? Sure. Thanks. Throw it in the freezer. Wrap it up.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm sure that won't won't mess up the taste of it at all.

SPEAKER_02

You have to bring oh, you should bring me one.

SPEAKER_01

I should just get on a plane and bring you one.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. All right. All right. You brought me Mattigliones that time in a hur in a in a hurricane. In a hurricane. I have a meat hurricane.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. No, it was. I'm a little confused on the timeline, though. Because I know that he he went to see what's his name, Nick?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. That was a flash forward that we saw in the morning.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. All right, all right, all right.

SPEAKER_02

That we saw early in the episode or in the morning.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right. Okay. Okay, that's what I was thinking, but then I wasn't sure. Okay. Because I was like, wait, he doesn't know until after he's back giving her the files that he sees, and then he asks the other chick for help. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So in this case, yeah. So is when you pan over and you realize the officer that Phoebe was speaking to was the same officer that we saw earlier in the episode. Or like I said earlier, earlier in the morning. Yeah. And um, so you're like, what is going on here? So now you're gonna actually cut back to the diner and you see that you actually hear their conversation about that we saw the beginning of early in the episode. And apparently the officer's name is Potter. And he goes, Yeah, I'm looking for MAA MMA tickets for my daughter. She's really into this. Nick is like, well, who does our favorite fight? He goes, Any girl, anyone with kick ass, you know, girl power, which honestly, he might be bullshitting, but I feel that though. Like Ronda Rousey, any of them. I'm like, kick ass. But he's really stooping around to find a connection between Lucy's death and the UFC tickets that he found at the scene that was found at the scene. Because he's like, well, how does a murderer wind up with the city special box eat tickets? So Nick is like, well, someone must have scout them. He's like, Yeah, okay. Cool. And Nick goes, Well, let me see what I can do for your daughter. Mm-hmm. Mm-mm. Now you see, Annie is trying to get financial aid so Ben could continue to go to the school. Because it's he can't go back to the school. Like he's going back to his public school and he's like, okay, it'll be fine. He's like, but last time I was there, I wasn't Ben. And this is gonna like that can be I don't even want to think about what his life is gonna be. If he ha if he goes back, if he has to go back.

SPEAKER_01

And he wants to take like um karate or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Like self-defense, basically.

SPEAKER_02

Um, because they were Sadie before. He has now been, so that can be Yeah. We have adults who can't understand the two. So teenagers really gonna be horrible. So she's trying to get financial aid so Ben can stay at school, but because of the drug charge, and whatever happened to that? Nothing like I feel like it was done, like she was in jail, they bailed her out, and then they never went back to it. So she can't apply to that. But I guess it's still on her record? And yeah, no, no, no. But what happened? Was she charged? Did she get probation? Like, what happened? It was never discussed again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You know what I mean? Right.

SPEAKER_02

The financial aid advisor was like, listen. She's like, You have a husband? She's like, no. She's like, what about the dad? She's like, yeah, no, that can't happen. She's like, you have a boyfriend, a significant other, a life partner, something. She's like, she's like, but what does that have to do with anything? Like, you know, no, she goes, don't rub it in. She's like, no. Let me tell you something. Because I was thinking, like, what does it have to do with something? She's like, if someone shares your address, he can apply for the loan. So what does Annie do? She calls like Car Buddy to fill out the paperwork. And he goes, I just need one favor. And she goes, What did she say? I forgot. She's like, I'm not doing something. I'm not.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's like, uh, oh, what does she say?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, she says, Oh, I can't. Something smart ass. Like, I can't, I she's like, I'm not going to do something. I don't forget what it was. He's like, Don't ever come back here again. And she's like, Oh, okay. I forgot what she said. So something Annie-ish. Yeah. No, you see Beth having, you know, selling her bag, selling her wares to the soccer mom, and they're talking, and she's really cute. And all of a sudden you have the kids running in, and she's like, Don't run the house. And here comes the dad, and he turns around. It's the cop from the private party. And she blackmails him. Yep. And she goes, and then so when the this is when the mother goes to, she's, oh, they can't find the whatever. And she's like, it's in the free the nuggets. She's the nuggets. So she goes, I'll go find it for you. And she's like, well, she blackmails him and she comes back. She goes, Well, what about the alligator? Or the snakeskin one. That's what it is the snakeskin. She goes, look, I just did a private party recently and I have a picture of it right here. And the officer's like, you know what? Get the bag. Just get the bag. You deserve it. And you know what? I'm even, you know, there might be some other wives that can help you out with that too. Stan finds out that it happened and he's just a little sour about it. He goes, she goes, What's the problem? Because, oh, they're sitting in the house, and Ruby goes off to do something, and Brett is on her phone, and she goes, you know, your handle, your username is XYZ. He's like, Yeah. And she goes, and here's your cut. And it was kind of for me, like, okay, that's a little bit, it's like putting the salt in the wound and a little condescending at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

And well, I think it's also because she's kind of completely ignoring his concerns.

SPEAKER_02

Right. No, right. But it's just the idea, like, one, it's like you took over my deal. Yeah. You go like, here, and here's your cut. Like you're doing me a fucking favor.

SPEAKER_01

Like, it's just the balls. Right. But which is exactly what he said that she was going to do.

SPEAKER_02

And that's how I was pissed. I know, I know that's why he said, but this is why I was also pissed before he even opened his mouth. Like, you have some fucking balls. So when she asks, What's your problem? She goes, he goes, You're the problem. He goes, You've been ignored for so long in your own home, and now all you want to do is matter. And you need to be, pretty much, you need to be top ball. The top, the top English Agnes.

SPEAKER_00

That. Death. Woof. English would be amazing today. Uh or Don. Woof. Top dog. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It did. It did it. It did it.

SPEAKER_02

Of course he's adding that she was the reason that Ruby got shot, among all other things. And when Ruby comes back in, they break it up, but you can. It's the tension, the chill, it's all the weather elements happening in that in that room. Dean is talking to apparently an old salesman that he used to work with and trying to sell his wares. And the guy was automatically goes, I'll just buy one of each. He's like, Yeah, cool. Because the guy can tell that he's like, if you're selling this shit, I'd be I'll help you out. Because he sold 300 cars. You need to help.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_02

He sold 300 cars in a month. That's not really one person, 300 cars, not really. I don't know how possible that is. But anyway, but he's doing really well for himself. Yep. He's doing the damn thing. And Dan was like, you know, what about, you know, you might want to try to get him in on a deal. He's like, it might help that, you know, on those months, little cash in your pockets. He's like, yeah, no, I don't need it. But, you know, not I don't down with the pair of my schemes. And as they're talking, he goes, Well, have you ever thought about coming back into the sales business? And he's like, uh, you know, I don't know, whatever. Also, his, you're the beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. And Dude looks down and his and it's Dean's ankle monitor. So Dean is a little bit uncomfortable with the situation. So he's trying to weasel out, not weasel out, but he's just trying to buy himself out of the pyramid scheme. Which he's like, okay, I need to get out. Thank you. And Dude was like, okay, that's fine. I just, you know, write me a check of the product. He's like, you know what? I already boxed them up. You can have it back. He's like, oh no, those are the samples. You still have a year's worth of supply that you are contracted to sell. And this is what you and I talked about the last episode. Like, this is how they get them locked in. Yeah. Dean was like, well, maybe I'll try to, I'll just keep trying, see how it goes. Beth, because what's her name? Phoebe has not answered her phone calls. She just brings um green juice and Jesus juice to her room. And they're talking it up, and they are like geek geek geek geeking, and they're being the little play date. And then you see Ruby and Annie sitting outside. You don't know where they're at. You just know they're talking. They're sitting on a bench, just chilling, talking. Ruby goes, My husband hates my best friend. And while they're talking, Phoebe is upstairs. She went to the bathroom. Beth is looking for the cash. She finds it. And as they're talking, all of a sudden this box of cash, just the evidence box goes plop right in front of them because she threw it out the window. Phoebe comes out. She's like, you know, you're a better person than I thought, or something of that nature. Beth's like, yeah, I'm not that good. Reels at the boxing gym, looking all hot and sexy, and because any man that wants a box, it's it's that's a hot thing to me. I like that. Boxing a bag, it's hotter to me than, you know. But anyway. Here comes Nick with his, you know, his entourage of bodyguards.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

He wants to talk to him about the tickets. And after some speculating, confirming that Rio wasn't actually at the fight, he was actually busy killing Lucy. And Rio goes sometimes at the work weekends, bro. Because they're boxing back and forth, they're sparring, you know, Rio's kicking ass, whatever. When Rio's up against the, oh my god, my brain is shutting down. He's like up against the ropes. Ropes, that's it. What is the why? I'm looking, I cannot think of the word rope. Nick's guys, they grab it, they hold him down. Nick throws out a water cache. Rio goes, what's that for? He goes, for a doctor. And then smacks him with a fucking chair. That hurt. Like I could, like just hearing it kind of made my face hurt. Yeah. And I'm assuming went to his face, because else you're gonna hit someone with a chair but their face, you know. Yeah. Next scene, Kevin's at Annie's door to return the paperwork. And he said, Yeah, so there was a down electrical line. And then I was like, oh yeah, that sucks. He's like, Yeah, it kind of hit my car, and uh, I have nowhere else to live. Ben comes home from school and he goes, I have good news and bad news. And here comes Kevin out the bathroom asking, I don't need something, brushing his teeth. Ben goes, that's my toothbrush. He's like, Oh, you know, I'll pay you back. And he goes, Well, good news, you can go, you can stay in school, so there's that. The next scene, Officer Parter returns home from work. He's calling us, he's like, hey, what smells so good? And when he rounds the corner, it's Mick. Apparently that's his name. Who knew?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I didn't know it. I didn't know. I didn't know that. He's standing there eating Lisa's favorite craving right now, and all of a sudden you see the camera pans and it's just an envelope addressed to Phoebe, and you have tomato sauce sprayed all over the front of the envelope. And I don't think the envelope is going to Phoebe. I don't think it's gonna get there. I don't think so. I know there's a very slim chance. That scene alone, like the splashing, is very onimous because I have it's just tomato sauce, no context. Well, some some context. It's like, oh fuck. Yeah, yeah. So the last episode, if I say sew one more fucking time, I'm going to sew my mouth closed. In the episode's final scene, Beth has this really pretty gift box. It's so pretty, like silver wrapping, the blue bow. It's really, really pretty. And she opens it up and it's a printing plate. And Annie goes, I hate Canada. So first she said, Is that a pr like who's that? They're like, That's the that's the queen. And he goes, I hate Canada. I was like, Oh. So that's it. Dad talking.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Done talking. Here's the part that made me sad. That poor little girl. She was already having nightmares. And what happened to her? Is she gonna like this poor kid is already traumatized by some nightmare that she keeps having? And then is she gonna come home and find her dad who promised to keep her safe all pludgeoned? And now what is that gonna do to her? Or worse, what if they already disposed of her? I don't think he would do that.

SPEAKER_02

I don't because the problem was with the was with dude, I don't think they disposed 'cause she was going to be with her mom.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah. So I'm like that poor fucking kid. So traumatic. I don't have anything. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The only thing I have to say is how did the officer think that was going to end well for him? Obviously there's connection between Lucy's murder and the councilman somehow, someway.

SPEAKER_01

You don't know if it's him or not, but you know that it's and and not only that, but he's the one who put it together in 10 minutes. Right. And then how and then nobody else is going to be able to blackmail him? How do you think that's gonna end up for you? Right. You think that this dude is covering for a murderer, and you're just gonna blackmail him and no big deal?

SPEAKER_00

Cool.

SPEAKER_01

Cool. Right. Okay. Cool, cool, cool. That all that tracks. Always, always works out fine. Yeah. So yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So that happened.

SPEAKER_01
