Hi, and welcome to this episode of Good Girls. No, what the hell am I doing? Start over. Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin's Sips. Today we're talking about Good Girls Season 4, Episode 12, Family First. I'm Lisa, and I am sipping on a drink that is not stiff enough. I am drinking sangria.
SPEAKER_02It's good, but it's not strong enough. You need to act for today.
SPEAKER_00Add some vodka or tequila to it.
SPEAKER_03Something.
SPEAKER_00And I'm your co-host, Agnes, and I'm drinking my usual brown sugar shake and espresso. Decaf. Yes, you can judge me. I don't think people should judge other people's beverages of choice, personally. I just think it's some of us can't drink caffeine anymore.
SPEAKER_02Some of it's just old. Speak for yourself. Any hot takes, Lisa? I was. What a waste of Oreos. That's hot take.
SPEAKER_01What a waste of Oreos. When they were in the car. Okay. I was confused.
SPEAKER_00I was like, yeah. I was like, what is she fucking talking about? Is she having a stroke? And then I'm like, oh, hot take. Yeah, okay, that makes sense. It all came together for me. I was a little concerned about you.
SPEAKER_01Also, like, I get Annie being scared when she was in the car. But I don't know if this is really bad because when I was watching the scene, I was like, I don't know, I feel like I would feel very safe with him. So maybe that's just my toxic trait. Yeah, you're not wrong in that one.
SPEAKER_00I won't tell if you won't.
SPEAKER_02Alright. It'll be our little secret. And I also hate Dean's friends. Are they really friends though? Well. But Dean had some gumption remote cycle. Well, he's a lawyer. Gumption?
SPEAKER_01That's I I was gonna say balls, but then I was like, that's two on the nose.
SPEAKER_00So question, very important question before we continue this recording. How do I sound?
SPEAKER_02I need to move my mic. Oh, you sound good. Okay. No, you sound good. Is this different?
SPEAKER_00Is this better different that I need to move my mic so it's in front of me?
SPEAKER_01It's just weird.
SPEAKER_00Okay, we won't do that then.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02Questioned answered. No, you sound good. Okay. Better.
SPEAKER_00So that's your only hot take? Waste of Oreos, and now you feel safe? And Dean shorts. And the shorts.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
unknownI can't.
SPEAKER_00I'll keep that part. I I know who I am. So we are now at the point with the foreign batch, the Queen's Money is now down the drain. Rio has decided to motivate Beth in a way he has not done thus far. Which is it threw me for a loop. Annie's watching TV, and Beth calls, and the short version is she's looking for her mini blender. Annie's like, I don't have it. But she describes it to your T. She's like, yeah, if I look for it, if I find it, I'll bring it to you, come pick it up. And they go back and forth, sister bantering, what have you. And he's in the fridge doing what Annie does. And lo behold, there's Rio. Rio kidnaps Annie because he wants his money. And he uses leverage. He finally showed up unexpected to somebody else's house. Right. And I think that's what threw everyone off. Because you'd not you expect, you don't expect Rio. Because you kind of forget that Rio knows the other two chicks because he never pays them any mind. While Annie's getting Annie capped, Annie napped. Okay. Beth is spoiling and bribing her son that she feels guilty about not being there when he went to the hospital. Dean is pissed. Because, yeah, he's pissed. He says, So what are we doing today? He goes, I'm going to work. He's like, which one? The money or like what are we doing? And where are you going? Out of town. Where are you going? The whole situation was the kids are like, what the actual fuck is wrong with these people? These can't be my parents. When he comes in, she asks him, she goes, Have you seen my phone? He's like, Yeah, here, you left it upstairs. That's when I knew. I'm like, mm-hmm. He was up in that, he was going through the whole phone, but what do I know? Oh, wait, I was right. So Dean is with his pyramid scheme bros, and they're fueling the drama between him and Beth. And he, they're like, we need more evidence. He's like, Well, I didn't find anything, blah, blah, blah. I need something, or we need something. Even if they found something, even if Dean found something, you have to question, will he actually pull the trigger? And I don't think he has it in him. At the 11th hour, he would probably be like, uh, the next scene, Ben shows up at Beth's door when he can't find his mom. He saw he said, I've he goes, she wait, wow. Words hard. Beth is like, oh, she's probably doing, you know, something, X, Y, Z, whatever. You try calling her phone. So she's calling it, and here it is in Ben's hand. He's like, Yeah, she left it at home. They're like, well, maybe he Ben's like, well, obviously. Just a small one. Ben's obviously is like, let's call the police. And Beth's like, yeah, no, I think I know what happened, of course. And of course, the hunter's right. He she and Ruby go to try to pay off Rio, but he's pissed off, highly pissed off. Like pissed off to the highest level of passivity. Beth is also quite pissed off at this moment, and she screams, I want my sister back. I'm not gonna lie, though.
SPEAKER_01Right. I'm not gonna lie, but like I kind of laughed and it was a good line. I know it's not funny, but when Beth was like, Okay, but I will give it to you in installments and he's like, cool, like so will I. Yeah, that was kind of I'm like, I'm not mad at him. Yeah, I'm not mad at him for the comment. Like, he got his point across.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I think I think I would hope that that was purely based on making a point, and I don't think he would do it unless he unless she actually started paying him installments, then he probably would do it. Dean is talking to Stan that um his pyramid bros are pyramid bros, MM, MLM bros. I'm trying to think of something that's less mouthy to call them. Skeevy bros. Oh, we'll figure something out. So Dean is telling Stan that the bros, that's how we call them, the bros, are helping him keep him out of jail. And Stan is like, wait, you're actually gonna sell out your wife? And Dean is like, don't worry, I'll protect Ruby. But he did ask Stan to keep his eyes and ears open. And at this point, Stan is a little iffy about this because they're all they're all connected. And he does not trust Beth as far as you can throw him. He doesn't he does not trust Beth as far as he can throw her. Meanwhile, back at the farm, Annie's in the fucking freezer. And actually, I don't think I mind that too much right now. I can go for a freezer. It's weather here is beautiful. We got it was 60 this morning. It's 70 now. I'm like, yes, finally, normal weather. He takes her to the convenience store. He's grabbing, he goes, What kind of or you like regular or double stuff? And she's just like, what the fuck are you like? Why are you asking these questions? He goes, regular is double stuff. She's like, double stuff. Check mechs or Cheetos? I'm like Cheetos. And these are all, no, check's mechs. This is what she said. And these are all the things that I would have picked. So I co-signed that. Water, sparkling or regular. She's like, well, by this time she's getting used to it. She's like, sparkling. If you have an option, always sparkling. You have a choice. And he goes, and uh grab those Skittles. She was like, Oh, I don't like Skittles. He goes, Not everything's about you. Like, what the hell? They're not for you. So he goes, he goes to get the water and she goes to the front with the cashier. She tried to tell him, like, hey, that dude back there. And he looks. She's like, don't look at him. He's kidnapping me. And of course, Mick comes up. He's yo, what's up? And she's like, oh fuck. Mm-hmm. How's your mom? I Right, how's your mom within? But do you really think he's gonna take you to a convenience store all willy-nilly and let you just go to the checkout if he didn't think you were still gonna be his prisoner? But anyway.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So gangster friend. No, wait, that's not gangster friend. Rio's gangster friend, right? No, this is pushman's gangster friend. Gang friend, is that that's Rio. Anywho, that's Rio. Alright, I don't want to call him Mick. I gotta think of something else.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_00Anyway. Gang friend dos. Okay, I don't know. He's he's really fucking with her head when she's like thinking about running. And then he drives her to this really shady house in the middle of the night. She's freaking out, as would anyone. And she tells him, like, I'm the most important person in this operation. You can't get rid of me. I do X, Y, and Z. And it looks like her exaggeration is working. Like he's like, huh. Well, whatever, whatever. So she gets out, beats the shit out of this one guy, pistol whips him, actually. And then Mick gets back in the car and tells her, truly important people don't tell you how important they are. That's true. Well said, Mick. Well said. Beth and Ruby are now attending a public hearing to pay the taxes off at the club so they can get back to printing. And they run into one of the ladies that happens to be a client of the of Sands. She buys her thing, and she says something really shit shady. And then what's her name said? Beth, not Beth. Ruby goes, your purse is fake.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, because she buys the listing out from under them. And they were like, wait, because you already got one. Right. And then she was like, but you already got one. And she was like, oh, well, this was just too good to pass up. Like, how fucking shitty?
SPEAKER_00That was really fucked up. Because she was literally on her way out the door if she didn't see Ruby. So yeah, she stole the, she stole it from them.
SPEAKER_02That's okay. They got something.
SPEAKER_00So now they have to play hardball. Right. The bitch. So she's at the at the club, and she's so freaking excited for her purchase. Because it's tight, it's inspection time. Oh my god. And who shows up? The same chick that did the inspection for the the spa place, the water spa place. The hot tub. Let's call it call it spade a spade. And she goes, yeah. A bowling bubble. I like getting my dance on. Yes. Bowling bubbles. Say that three times fast. She's like, oh yeah, you must be excited. I like getting my little dance on sometimes too. Um, what did she say? It's gonna be a joke hotel. What are we looking at? Yes, she said it'll be cheaper to she said, she said it'll be cheaper to get them a room at the Ritz Colton. She's like, what do you mean? And she's going through the plethora of stuff. But before she shows up, I I digress slightly. The ladies try to give the bitch the like cash, the payoff. Like, hey, let's give me back my property. I give you the cash. Call it a day. She's like, yeah, fuck you. Okay, cool. So after the inspector's going over the list of stuff that it's gonna cost to fix this bad boy, get it up to code. Chick is freaking out. Ruby or Beth, I can't remember who it was, Ruby, I think, goes, hey, I think you dropped something. And she's like, gee, thanks. The inspector picks up the same envelope they're gonna give, whatchamacallit? The bitch.
SPEAKER_01She barely even picked it up. Ruby basically handed it to her.
SPEAKER_00Handed it to her. Right. It was just like, we're like, I'm gonna bend over five degrees.
unknownMm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00So I love that. At least they're learning something. Took them long enough. Took them four seasons to get with the program. Mick now leaves his car. We're back with Annie. Mick leaves his car window open when he stops to visit an old, you know, colleague, a co-worker. Annie uses this opportunity because the cops pull up suspecting Mick of assault. So this is when she decides to crawl out of the car window. But instead of actually giving the alibi, instead of like escaping, she gives an alibi. She's like, she's like, it was murder. And was looking at her like what? She's like, murder of my lady parts. He was with me.
SPEAKER_03I was just like, oh.
SPEAKER_00Oh my vaginas. Try to be nice here. Kids listen to the show, don't they? No.
SPEAKER_01Also, I will say Annie fucked up though. Annie fucked up because she shouldn't have mentioned anything about a motel. Just in case, that's something that they can verify. So if you're gonna say you were together, just say you were together. Don't be like, oh, we didn't leave the motel. Because then if that cop turned around and said, Well, what motel were you out? Uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00On a good note, those not-tell motels, there's absolutely no fucking cameras. And they take cash. I mean, on a good note, if they did come up with a name, they're covered. They're safe. So after this alibi, Mick wonders, how does one bitch, referring to Beth, could have such a hold on so many people? He goes, She's not all that. Annie says, then why are we both here? Touche, Annie. Touche.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. Yeah, backwards. He he says, because she said, he says, like, how does one bitch have and then you're right, my back? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And he was like, and then he said, then why are we sitting here? Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Because I was like, I was thinking and I was like, but Beth doesn't have a hold over him. But then I was like, oh, right, but she has a hold over Rio, who has a hold over him. Yeah. Yeah. Because that that comment made me pause. I was like, wait a minute. Him? Oh, yeah, secondary. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Because right. The episode's wrapping up.
SPEAKER_00Ruby and Beth are making their next batch. And because of this, Mick drops Annie F at home. At well, yeah, at home. Annie goes to Beth to return the blender, and she sees Ben sleep on the couch. The sisters are in bed embracing. Like, it's a beautiful moment. Like, why does you why does she have to be so bad before people just love each other?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00Beth goes to Nick's office for career advice, and he has this look on his face, like, hmm. Because she at one point she did go to him for help as soon as she realized as soon as she realized that Rio had her sister, but he was useless. The last scene is uh camera and camera is like going through the bros, backtrack the reason for this last scene. After they bought the place back so they can start printing again, when Moobie comes home, Stan goes, So whose name is it in? And he just look- she just looks at him. And he's like, So she's never going away. Okay, great. Like she's this, she's just always gonna have the power. Great. You just let her walk all over you. Nice. So the last scene, you see Stan sitting in the hot tub. And he's just like, the look in his face is like, what the fuck am I doing here? Look, I don't believe I'm actually fucking here. But then he says, I think I got something on her. I was like, not surprised it got to this point. I really, I'm really not surprised.
SPEAKER_01I'm not, but like I am.
SPEAKER_00If he can, I'm not surprised because he knows if he can control it that his wife is safe. Yes, I could totally see him be like this. This is the final straw. And yeah. She's condescending with the situation, with the whole thing, with him. He's she's condescending. And she acts like he's the reason that they're in the it's just, yeah, I would actually dropkick her if I was Stan. But that's just my opinion.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00And that's it for this episode. I caught, I'm sure I missed the little odds and ends, but we got the gist. And now listeners are watching with us.
SPEAKER_01Wait, did you talk about the Oreos, how they were eating them in the car? Okay. I was like, wait, I don't think I remember here. That's yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That was all you. That was that was joking.
SPEAKER_01So like he he buys the double stuff Oreos, and like he's like, okay, another one. And she has to basically open up the Oreo, and then she gives it to him. He licks the cream filling and throws the part out the window. But then and it's like such a waste. And then after she basically saves his ass from the cops, they're drained, and he's like, he gives her one, and she's just sitting there, like reluctantly licking the cream filling, and then just okay, throw it out the window. And I don't know why I just found that part so funny. I'm like, but such a waste of Oreos. Like, my god, such a waste of Oreos. Did you know there are hungry people out there who have the monkeys? God. Okay, sorry.
SPEAKER_00I actually want Oreos now. Does anyone else remember chocolate-dipped Oreos? Am I the only one? Am I like on a different timeline?
SPEAKER_01Well, I don't not remember chocolate-dipped Oreos. I feel like why wouldn't there be chocolate-dipped Oreos? But could I remember a specific moment that I was eating them? No. Like I feel like that's just such a like, yeah, of course, I'm sure that exists.
SPEAKER_02But I don't know, like I don't know for sure. But I feel like it has to.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I think I'm just tired.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I asked people here and I they don't remember it. And I figured, like, sometimes some things are just regional. Like they don't release everything to every region. So I'm like and I had to Google it. Like, was there ever a chocolate-covered Oreo? And they're like, yes, chocolate covered Oreos absolutely exist and have been a beloved treat for years.
SPEAKER_02So I'm not crazy. So they do still exist. They they still do exist. I'm sure they do.
SPEAKER_00I guess. I probably have to find them somewhere at Amazon. No, but I because I never I haven't seen them in the store. So I figured that you know how they discontinue stuff? Like this is the last time I saw one, I think I was still in junior high school, high school. Like I haven't seen them in decades.
SPEAKER_01But we definitely got discontinued back then.
SPEAKER_00Everyone wants to be all healthy and shit and be mindful of like carcinogenic ingredients in their food.
SPEAKER_01It's like not, it's it's it's like worse on both extremes. Everyone is either uber healthy or the everything was plastic. I opened a bag of chips that I had in my closet, and they straight up smelled like plastic when I opened them. They had been sitting in there for like a month. Okay, I'll give you that. But like when I opened it, I was like, oh my god. I I was like, this smells awful. And I was really, really, really looking for chips. So I did eat one because I was like, all right, let's and I I spit it back out and threw the whole and it was like a party-sized bag. It was a big bag of chips, and I threw the whole thing out, and you know how much that hurt me. But it was like it straight up smelled like plastic.
SPEAKER_02I'm so sorry. So that's that's pretty much what we're eating. So awesome. Just drink wine, it's it's more pure. Isn't it a lot of my gluten-free? Good to know.
SPEAKER_01I don't have anything for this. I'm sure someone else. Yeah, well, my my vegan friend told me so. But I don't have anything else for this episode.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Do you? No, I don't.
SPEAKER_01That'll do it for this episode. If you have anything about this episode or any of the episodes we've talked about, give us a text. We love when people text us, and not enough people do. Visit us at assassinsips.com for all the ways. Don't drink and drive, drink responsibly. And until next time, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And we're out of here. See you later. Bye.
