Hi, and welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips. Today we're talking about Good Girls, season two, season finale, episode 13, King. I'm Lisa and I am sipping on Sangria, freshly made.
SPEAKER_03You know, before I tell you who I am and what I'm drinking, I so I'm watching the episode. I'm like, oh, season finale. Episode, you know, season two. If this was lost, we're still being season one.
SPEAKER_01Although I do have a lost comment also, but go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I am Agnes, and I am drinking Caribbean calada. I'm so excited. I got a nice um, a couple of bottles of rum from Puerto Rico. And this is Caribbean spiced from Bacardi. And it has, you know, the rum stuff and has coconut and pineapple. So I made a so I went to Bacardi and I was like, okay, let's look at recipes to do with this. And Caribbean colada, it is. Did I tell you I stayed the hotel where they actually developed the pina colada?
SPEAKER_01Oh, I did. No.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01What hotel was that?
SPEAKER_03That's a Hilton. Um, my brain shut down. Oh, okay. I'm sorry. My brain just went okay. 404 arrow code. So, hot takes on this episode.
SPEAKER_01I you know, after in between last episode, right? Like last episode watching and recording, and then this episode, I feel like my brain cells were starting to like, you know, actually like wake up and come together. Okay. So uh one thing in my last comment, I feel like the last episode was very lost-ish in the sense of the flashbacks and and then seeing more. And you know how like they used to do that, where it's like you'll see some and then you'll you'll wait, and then like you know, 76 episodes later you're like, oh and then you'll see more of that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Like it was kind of an aesthetic that episode because it had those same reminiscent feelings.
SPEAKER_03Everything comes back to lost, apparently.
SPEAKER_01Apparently. Um I have questions about Mary Pat. And for starters, why did she bother giving them the body? Is and and I was thinking about it because I was like Well, we know that she knows that she didn't kill Boomer. So what was the point? She could have very easily said, I have no idea what happened to Boomer. Or this is the truth about what happened to Boomer. Why does she lie and pass off her husband's body at as Boomer?
SPEAKER_03Like knowing that Boomer's alive and he come back anytime.
SPEAKER_01Right. And so then that's that's the conclusion that I came to was like, well, if she's scared that Boomer is gonna call the cops on her, get rid of the body, so there's not no reason, like, even if they do come, they're like, what are you talking about? Right.
SPEAKER_03I mean, even if he might not know that there's a body there, but if they still come back, she tried to kill me and they come raid her house, exactly. She doesn't want to find a body there. I mean, that might be it, right?
SPEAKER_01And so that that I don't know the answer. That was the only thing that in my head I could come up with. It's logical, right? Which is why I feel like it might not be the right answer.
SPEAKER_03Because it's logical. That's how I felt through lost. So yeah, like this is too logical. So I must be wrong.
SPEAKER_01Um, and I have other questions, but I'll wait on them. Okay. Okay, but yeah, that that was really like where my brain went in between that episode and this episode. So, okay.
SPEAKER_03This episode starts off with Beth in the kitchen doing a baking marathon.
SPEAKER_01I did, and I did like the bookends of the baking.
SPEAKER_03Yes, I thought I thought about you too. I I think about you way too much, Lisa. It's to be thought of at the like the weirdest times, but it turns out she makes the spread for the FBI because Jimmy Turner, Jimmy, is it Jimmy Turner? Timmy turner, Jimmy Turner. Agent Turner, Timmy Turner, no agent Turner. Wow, Agnes. Maybe I made that collateral little bit too strong. Okay. And she goes to say, This is, you know, I made X, Y, and Z. He goes, What? No buckle. And then such a dick. And of course, when the cop goes to reach for a cinnamon roll or whatever, he just looks at him. I'm like, let the man eat. She didn't make like, how can you look at all that stuff and not want to pick up something?
SPEAKER_01I know she she was she must have been baking for four hours, like, no, longer than that. You know, you know how how frustrating it is when you spend so much time cooking and then nobody eats your food? It's also because she doesn't play music or listen to podcasts while she bakes.
SPEAKER_03Seriously, so it really must be like those 600 hours she worked must felt like a billion.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03What's wrong with what you're eating?
SPEAKER_01Oh, nothing. It was um hair? No, but like from the orange.
SPEAKER_03Oh, the the the the pulp?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it just like the stringy. Uh you know, like the thing. Yeah, I know what you mean. Yeah, and it just felt weird on my tongue. Because I was eating a grape, and that's why I was like, what is on the grape?
SPEAKER_03But when you said that, like, oh, that can go so many ways. I'm gonna leave that one alone. So during this time, she is there to give her statement and confess to murdering Leslie. And you're like, wait, what? Right, right. And then the next scene you see all three of them sitting with Leslie, and this is three days prior. Okay, side note listen, I get a grandmother's love. I totally get it. I get a grandmother's love, a parent's love, I get it. But dude stole from you, and then you took him in to hide, fine, and you're still catering to his needs, his tab. Did they still make it around?
SPEAKER_01Did they still make tab like five years ago? I don't even think they didn't. No, but maybe Nana has like a stash and with a straw. His tab with a straw. Nana, I'm gonna need a straw. And then he took a sip without the straw. Right. But maybe you didn't really need the straw, boomer, Leslie, Mr. Peterson.
SPEAKER_03Or, I like to say, boomer. I haven't done that in a while, have I? So he's afraid of coming out. They're like, they're yelling at him for being an asshole. He's like, I'm not coming out because of the gang, isn't that because of the gang, they're gonna be after me. Um, so he they go back and forth to come out. We're gonna tell, no, we're we're on the hook for your murder. We're just gonna go to the cops. And he's like, Oh, I can tell them about Jeff's body. And he goes, We fucking boomer.
SPEAKER_02Ugh.
SPEAKER_03He goes, I saw what you did to his body, throw in the back of your minivan. They're like, How do you know? He goes, Well, I've been living off the land, and I saw living off the land? He goes, Yeah, you could drink your urine to it turns brown.
SPEAKER_01Ruby's like I don't think that's true, but ew.
SPEAKER_03Right. Ruby was like, um, you were like a mile from 7-Eleven.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you could also drink bleach. I just feel like that would have been a big thing.
SPEAKER_03What we should do are two very different things. He's like, but the cameras, I can't let the he goes, I'm supposed to be dead.
SPEAKER_01Right. She was like, there was a 7-Eleven. He's like, but there's cameras. And then he gave like that thing, like that meme, you know?
SPEAKER_03Like, oh lord. So they go, of course, he's gonna blackmail them for money. And Beth is like, fine, what do you want? And Ruby's like, are you fucking crazy? Are we doing this again? Haven't you learned like seriously, Beth? Have you learned your lesson by blackmail with Boomer? No. You would think all the lessons that Rio has taught her to date, something would have stuck. But what do I know? Well, he's like, she's so he wants a plastic surgery. He's like, she's like, that's expensive. He's like, I know, that's why I'm asking you for the fucking money. In essence. So that's Boomer for you.
SPEAKER_01Boomer is a weasel, has always been a weasel, and will always be a weasel.
SPEAKER_03Always be a weasel. You know what you do with weasels, rabbit weasels at that? You take them out their misery. But what do I know? To be fair, Mary Pat did try. He's like a cockroach. They don't die. That's what you he's a cockroach. So you next thing you see, Beth climbing through the window, uh, Rio's window again, and it's completely cleared out. Well, actually, she's bang on the door first. No answer, so she goes to the window, obviously. Side note: I love that loft.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I know it's gorgeous. And then at the end of the episode, when you see the skyline through the windows, I was like, whoa, it's even prettier.
SPEAKER_03So she's walking around, and then Rio calls, and I don't know why, but phone Rio is even sexier. His voice is just like, it's very modal combat. Get over here. Okay. Um he's like, so what are you doing? She's like, just stuff, but to give my hair a cut. He goes, Don't. She's like, what? She's like, don't cut it. I want to I like he goes, I like pull, I like moving it out your face. And then she does the whole like, uh he's like, yeah, like that. And then I'm sorry. The fact that he calls you 1.2 seconds after you enter the house, you don't think he's already watching you?
SPEAKER_01Right. I I thought that as soon as the phone rang, I was like, Right, okay. And then when he's like, What are you doing? And I'm like, no, he definitely if I didn't think he knew before, he definitely knows.
SPEAKER_03Now and in my head, I would have been like, I met your your empty house. The fuck? I met your empty house. Like, I would have been straight out, like, but that's just me.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03So when she's looking around, she finds the camera. He goes, Now you got it. I was like, oh, something about his voice. I just can't stand it. I love it so much. Um, so honestly, he's like, What do you want? And she's like, I need help, I need money. He goes, I already gave you the king to the can the kingdom. She's like, Yeah, but I don't want it. She's like, then I don't know what the fuck to tell you then. Next scene. Annie and Josh slash Noah, which that's gonna be forever his name. They're sitting on the couch looking, both looking very constipated. He more so than her. Um, and he goes, Turner has a warrant. She's like, How much time do we have? He's like, 48 hours. And he's like, let's just go. Let's just just just go. She was like, I have a son. He goes, this bring him. He goes, but he has a father. He's like, you know, when they do come, I still have to do my job. And yeah, and then more constipated looks from both of them. And then she goes, You wouldn't make cookies? He's like, What? She goes, I've just I've never done it before. He's like, why not? And I thought about you in that scene. I'm like, what? I don't know why, because you know, always cooking, always baking, always a good thing to do.
SPEAKER_01I mean, okay.
SPEAKER_03So the next scene, they were a new place. I've never seen this place before, none of us seen this place before, and I like sports bar food. I like bar food.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's it's it does it's French fries looked amazing. Bayes balls, just French fries, but the fact that there's just like French fries and beers, I'm like, I'm in. I'm in. That's all I need.
SPEAKER_03And peanut butter pie from Ken from the Broom Street Bar. I miss that place.
SPEAKER_01Not so much with the sweets. I like the salty and the savory. I like the salt, I like it all. Although I did just have a Boston cream donut for breakfast, so uh oh but I made tacos last night. Actually, I cooked the meat and prepped the toppings, and they were delicious. And Linda made to and I pickled onions, and Nelinda made tacos to take with her to work today. She made three tacos, she put it in a little tupperware, and I was like, damn, that looks like you just bought it at the store. I was like, I'm proud of myself. I mean, I okay, she put it together, but I did everything.
SPEAKER_03You did everything, it's all you. I want, oh, I want a steak taco with cilantro onions, and I want pickle onions now on it.
SPEAKER_01That's exactly what it was.
SPEAKER_03I hate you with the pack.
SPEAKER_01But I did so I did a London broil in the slow cooker so that you know the meat gets nice and like oof, melting your mouth. Yep. Oh, I'm coming over. Your leftovers? I I have plenty of leftovers. I made two London broils and I ordered three pizzas because you know I refuse to not have enough food.
SPEAKER_03I'm on my way.
SPEAKER_01I'll be there and I think there's still two pies left and most of the meat because oh, and then Amy Amy brought capurias. So I'm like, oh my god. Oh, I had that. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03God. So yeah. I I'm yeah. I'm just a side note, I'm glad that I got back some of my appetite and time to eat food there. Because I would have been pissed if I couldn't eat. But and then I went to I went to 787 Puerto Rico. I mean, there's like there's like three or four of them, but there was one right around the corner from the um hotel. I was like, oh, that's so cool. I was like, oh, you gotta try 787. He's like, Well, there's one around the corner. I'm like, yeah. He's like, oh. He goes, let me find out. You're telling me something. Somebody comes to coffee. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so they're at the sports bar and Ruby is talk, not Ruby, Beth is talking to Ruby about this guy on 2020 or whatever, dateline or whatever. And she goes, Yeah, he sits, he orders, you know, he's at the bar, he orders a beer and his lunch, then he puts his coaster on top of his beer, like he just went to the bathroom, you know, he'll be back. He goes, he robs the bank, and then comes back with a bag full of money and could finish his lunch. Ruby's like, that sounds fucking stupid.
SPEAKER_01She goes, Well, they didn't actually say he robs a bank, she said he robs the place. He robs a place. Cause I, and the only reason I know that is because when I'm sitting there, I'm thinking that they're talking about the place that they're sitting at. Okay. And then every time the waitress walks by, she's like, Oh, could we get ranch? Oh, could we get ketchup?
SPEAKER_03Ketchup first and ranch.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Right. So I'm that's what I was thinking that they were talking about that place. And I'm like, oh, I guess maybe they're trying to see you know, keep her busy, make it noticeable so they could be like, Oh, they're there, whatever. I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Well, you're not far off though.
SPEAKER_01No, no.
SPEAKER_03They he goes, she's like, Well, how genius can it be if he's on dateline, telling about how he like how he got caught? She goes, So what do you want to do? She's like, we do this with hoodlumps. She's like, Yeah, and then Annie comes sliding in and she just gives him like details about the cameras and shit.
SPEAKER_01She's like, Yeah, she's like, and there's only this uh the security guard is like Benjamin Button old that I can take him. Take him and then the camera, when the camera pans over to Annie, that's when you see the bank across the street behind her. Yeah, and you look like a pretty uh that is a pretty good idea, though. Yeah, I mean, I'm not gonna do it, but I can see the uh the traction.
SPEAKER_03Ruby is um in the house doing whatever, you know, mom stuff. Stan comes home and he goes, What are the kids doing? She goes, They're facetiming your mom. He's like, he's looking around, like, why? It's just like, oh, okay. She goes, I want them to be close. I want them to know your mother. And obviously, because he's going to jail and she's all fucked up in the head. He's like, Yeah, but you'll be here. And he goes, Um, yeah, we're gonna now that you mention it, we're gonna rob a bank tomorrow. He's just like, he looks at her like, oh, you're funny. And then he's like, No, she's not funny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he he re quickly realizes, wait, she's not joking.
SPEAKER_03Um, listen, I gotta say though, their relationship through all the ups and the downs, and she's honest with him, and he's like, Okay, and this is not okay, but okay. Uh-huh. Um, that's like that's couple goals. And I want Yeah, it really is.
SPEAKER_01That's the that's the kind of love and support everyone should have in their life.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I always talk like when I start getting like guys who just not they want to be serious with me or not, but they're like full of shit. And I'm like, I am not that chick to do time with you. I'm not gonna be putting money on your commissary. I am not that bitch. I am that bitch to make sure you don't do anything stupid and not get caught, but I'm not doing time with you. So think about that before you do anything else in your life. They're like, ooh. Yeah. So Annie comes into Sadie. The next thing, Annie's in Sadie's room, and she goes, and she turns on, like, I guess the radio. She goes, I'm gonna need you to get up and shake that booty. And Sadie's like, the fuck are you doing, mom? She's like, let's dance. Like, she goes, like, it's gonna be we're making moments, we're making moments. She goes, mom, can we just do it tomorrow? She goes, You can't schedule a moment, right? And I was like, that is true. And I was just like, Oh, I I do love their relationship, and like any relationship between a parent and a child, no matter how close you are, it has its ups and downs. No one's perfect, we're human, but the love is there.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like, you know, like they're all all three of them are just kind of having that nostalgic, impending doom.
SPEAKER_03Bonding moment with their family.
SPEAKER_01Bonding, yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Ruby and Stan, I guess I'm assuming after the kids go to bed and they're in the living room talking about it, the the heist. And he's like, but she's like, the cops think that they have a warrant. He goes, but you can do like 20 to life plus 20 and like 10 to life, you whatever. He's he's just trying to like give the pros and cons of what she's doing. Yeah, and she's like, Well, we don't have any other choice, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And he was like, Okay, cool. Go go at two, shift change.
SPEAKER_03That was the next that was a later scene, but yeah, okay. Must have been bad. Dean shows Beth an apartment. He goes, that's good for the 223 plan. And they start reminiscing about when when they first got married and how it smelled like pierogies. And now, of course, I want pierogies. Yeah. Um, I want pierogies, and not the frozen pierogies. I want, but you know what? I could probably find pierogies around here somewhere. I think I should go get pierogies.
SPEAKER_01There's a there's actually a store like by me that sells them.
SPEAKER_03Oh, sure. I'll just go to Jersey and get some.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's fine. They could just okay, bring them here and and I'll get the taco meat. Yeah. Pizza tacos and pierogies.
SPEAKER_03Oh, and then oh, and then and then pickled onions. Oh, the pierogies with sour cream. Ooh. Oh, and I I always have sour cream, right? But oh god, the pickled onions just makes it woohoo!
SPEAKER_01Okay, yeah, we made like five jars.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you just remind me, I have to make extra sofrito. Promised my one of the the GMs, his wife. She's like, I always want to try Puerto Rican food and all the spices. He's like, Is it hot? I'm like, no, it's fine. She's so cute. Um, I do love it.
SPEAKER_01But for you, it might be. It's got the kick from the garlic, but that's that's I I don't consider that spice. No, but think it but she's so sweet and she was so genuine.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I love I I waited the whole year to see her again, like from the last holiday party. So she's I love her. She's a really sweet. Woman. So you have a little video montage of, like you said, of them each going through their moments.
SPEAKER_01I really thought Dean and Beth, like as they were sitting there talking about the apartment and their old memories, and they were sharing a container of ice cream.
SPEAKER_02I really thought that they were gonna like you know, and just get it on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Especially that like Rio kind of rejected her. And you know what I mean? Like baby steps. They're believing about that bridge, though.
SPEAKER_03Alright, well, whatever. So the video montage, you have Sadie dancing on the bed, and Amy Ain Annie just looking just like, that's my baby. Like, I love this kid. Yeah. And this is when Stan and Ruby are in bed, and he asks her, like, which bang, and he she tells him. He goes, do it at two o'clock. She's like, why? He goes, This is a shift change, and there'll be less police there. And he just kind of turns over. Like, you're like, it is what it is. I don't have to like this, but I'm going to help my wife. Beth is now at the sports bar by herself. She has three beers and she's watching TV. And she then waitress comes over. She's like, Oh, can I just order for them? Because they're in the bath, you know, they're in the bathroom. I'm gonna order for them. She's like, sure. So she orders for them. Because they, I'm sure she definitely remembers Ruby and Beth from like ketchup and then the ranch, and then you know, God loves it. Right. And then she's watching TV in the commercial with a mattress king, and he goes, I'll give you to the king, the the kings to the kingdom. And then obviously her face, like the you can see the light bulb go off in her head. Yeah. And you're like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_01But I I see that okay. This is where I get confused. Okay. Because before that, when she had gone into the loft and everything was empty, and Rio calls her because she she had wanted to ask him for money, and he said, I can't. Right?
SPEAKER_03I'm a little dry right now.
SPEAKER_01Right. But then he was like, Well, I tried to give you the keys to the kingdom and you didn't want it. And she was like, Yeah, but blah blah blah. So I I'm assuming that it's the phrase that sparked it, but then what made her think I don't like I don't know. I guess I just I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Like it just seemed weird. I took it as the fact that he said the keys to the kingdom, and I think he she was like, wait, he was trying to tell me something, and he already referred to the storage unit as the key to the kingdom, and the fact that he's re referring to it to again, she's like, wait, there has to. I I think something clicked like there has to be more. Like he said it again. Obviously, like that storage, that one unit was already empty. Why would you refer to it again if there wasn't something else? Something right, like the right, and it makes sense when you think about like the kingdom, as in I think that's what she realized this has to be more than just one storage unit, like, especially since the other the one that she knew it was empty. Like, what k what kingdom you try and give to me? It was empty, unless you're not gonna be able to.
SPEAKER_01But here's unless and here's the part that makes zero sense is that she's there watching, she's at the bar watching that commercial, sees that, gets the idea, heads on over to the storage place, is opening up all of the storage units. But Ruby and Annie are across the street. Annie is online waiting to tell the teller, like, hey, this is a robbery. How the fuck? I know lines in the bank are long, but my god, they're not that long. How the fuck did you have enough time to do that?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was the only um, like, what's the word I'm looking for? Yeah, it was it was a big like that is the only plot hole that was is like, mmm.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I just feel like they should have just been like uh she should have been like abort and then said, let's just go check out the storage unit, and if anything, we'll try again tomorrow. I mean, I know that or later, like I know they don't have enough time, like a lot of time, but like two o'clock on a weekday, I can't imagine even in your little bedroom town of Detroit. In like not even 15 minutes.
SPEAKER_03Although there's one bank where I live over here that like the that the job uses, and you would be online for like 40 minutes because you have one teller. To be fair, I I've been there, like but it's it but it still doesn't make sense. The time frame is a plot hole, it's uh yeah, it just it just seems so like come on, yeah, but okay, the magic of TV, yeah. Um, so yeah, she does the she finds all the girls come and there's like they're walking through all the storage units. There's electrodix, there's the two storage units of cash. Ruby's like, this is cash, this is like $500 cashmere. She goes, Can I take one for stand? She's like, sure. Yeah, but like, who is he? Where is he? Like, what the fuck is all of this? Um, so obviously, she's he left it all in her name. I am a little amazed at the at the hall that they found. I'm like, I'm a little jelly. I want someone to lead me the kings to the kingdom because I promise you I would manage it well. So she takes a picture of it, and they're back at Leslie's house, grandma's house, Marion's house. And just that's still just kind of pissing me off how they deal with him. It's a really frustrating. So they're like, okay, we'll give you all this money after you go to the cops. He's like, give me the key. First of all, he puts his hand out, and Annie goes, We're not low fiving you. He's like, Yeah, he's like the key. They're like, no, go the cops. He's like, no, I don't think I'll do that. I'll choose, I'll just wait till you guys are arrested. You ever seen Storage Wars? Yeah, I'll just buy it and when it goes on to auction. Like, okay, I'm so sorry. Like, Beth, they try to tell you you can't be reasonable with Boomer. Like, I feel like she does not listen. No, she's like the typical white woman that wants to go pet a cougar and and like, oh fine, they like me. Let me go play with a bear. Like, I feel like and like and you don't think anything's gonna happen.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, see now if you if you change that to a shark, I'd agree, but I mean, I'm gonna be able to do that. I mean, I would go try to pick up. I would try it back too, but still, they're so cute, and and and the bears, they're so cute. That's fine.
SPEAKER_03If I'm gonna go out, I will go out the same way. That's fine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, when it comes to animals, I I'm I'm a little bit of a dumbass. So yeah, but I might I might get my arm ripped off by a bear.
SPEAKER_03I'm okay with that. Like, if I go out by hugging a snow leopard, everyone's like, that's how she wanted to go out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but you know what I mean. But in theory, right? Not that we all women were like, yeah, come here. You know how excited I am that raccoons are becoming domesticated?
SPEAKER_01I mean, you can domesticate a raccoon. The problem is that they're they can be vicious and they carry rabies.
SPEAKER_03Well, no, but but well, because they're evolutionary, they're becoming domesticated. In fact, like their snouts are getting smaller, like they're just like they're evolving to become more domesticated. I'm like, oh, I'm one step closer getting my perfect animal. And I'm okay with that. And I'm still there'll be a time where I you can find a raccoon, you can get a raccoon that's like no rabies, you know. I, you know, the dark circle, they're my spirit animal. Like the dark circles, they you know, they date true.
SPEAKER_01I know the problem is that me and the raccoon's gonna fight for food. Well, that's because I already eat like a raccoon. I don't need competition.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'll be okay with that. I'll me and the raccoon would be buddy buddy. We'll go out foraging for garbage together. Him food, me dating. So it's the same thing. Beth is now she's doing her little drinking binge, and what does she do when she's drunk? She goes to Ruby's house and she gives her the tickets she bought for her Ruby's birthday. She bought them tickets to see Bay. I like the fact they just like, we're gonna go see Bay. She's like a little early, don't you think? She goes, she's like, I'm gonna turn myself in. So she's gonna turn herself in. She's like, I did this to you guys. They have a little heart to heart. They discuss, is are they gonna is she gonna open up with sing all single ladies? She's like, no, that's an encore.
SPEAKER_01It's like the most ridiculous conversation and just to have like some like semblance, right?
SPEAKER_03Uh I I can see us having that kind of conversation, not turning my no one's turn, neither one of us turned ourselves in, but I can see us having a very serious conversation and throwing in. So what's going on with Jason Momoa? Like, you know what I'm saying? By the way, I watched Aquaman again the other day. And the whole time I'm like, ooh, come here. And I was he's laughing at me. I said, something he like, you like Jason? I'm like, there's something about Samoan Man. He's like, it's the dancing. I'm like, yeah. Anyway, um, I'm sorry, I just had a moment. Samoan men can do it for me. The next morning, it's Dean getting the kids ready, and she's hugging her daughter so tight because she's just so sweet and delicious, whatever she said. It was cute. So she's having her own little personal goodbye. She says, Dean, you look nice today. And he actually did. Like he looks, you know, I like the whole depending on the man and depending on the suit. I like the open top button, no tie look.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Was it intentional? When done right, it's sexy as fuck. It is, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um not that he's sexy, but the look I can. Oh, right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And now we are. But even an unsexy man can help absolutely him. Give them like just a little extra notch of sexiness. Yes.
SPEAKER_03So this is now, we are now at the morning that we first opened that we opened up to, where she's actually speaking to the FBI and she's gonna give her statement of how she murdered Leslie. The next scene is Marion in the car with Leslie, pretty much telling him, I've always felt after your mess, I've lied for you, I clean up your shit. Now it's time to get your shit together and do the right thing.
SPEAKER_01Well, the thing is that she you see the car pull up, yes, and all you see, you're you're from the outside of the car seeing her pull up, she's driving, and that's all you see. And then Leslie like pops his head up because clearly he was hiding.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_01I forgot where he wanted her to take him, but she takes him to the police station. Police station, and he's like, wait, I'm not going in there. And she's like, It's time for you to be a big boy. I'm tired of lying for you. Like, I'm tired of telling stories for you. He's like, I'm not a little boy. She's like, then go be a big boy. Would it be like then fucking prove it, motherfucker?
SPEAKER_03Get the man act like a man, drop those balls, but he's never going to because he's been a he's been a turd from birth. Okay, first of all, she's giving her okay, she's the FBI and the police come to her house so she can give this statement of being this about a murder. Who does that? What do they do that at when they come to your house and let you take your statement? But anyway, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. And I'm I'm this this there's a like okay. Go ahead. No, what? No, no, no. I'm I I'm but yes, like this is part of one of the things that I was thinking about. Like, it might not mean anything, but it might mean something. But I'll tell you when we get there.
SPEAKER_00Copy that.
SPEAKER_03Um she's so funny. She had me sidetracked, cut my photo chico. What is she thinking about? No, in a good way, like, but what's she gonna tell me? What is it? Can I think about it? Can I kind of figure it out? I'm so excited to know. Um, I need to know, Lisa. So they bring her into the station or the FBI headquarters, or wherever they're bringing her into, unhandcuffed, and she's like, she's leading the pack, right? Like, she's walking in like she owns the place. And boom, you see Leslie and Marion, and he's like, What's up?
SPEAKER_01Well, then and then it's funny because they're like, Would you like some wood? And she was like, That would be nice. And do you want to call your husband? In a bit, he's at a job. She's at a job that you like to do, right?
SPEAKER_03But it's like, what the f what is this? Where do they do that at? It would not be me. I would have been tackled, and they've been a barricade, like they would have just barricade, not barricade, pulled down my door, and I would have been innocent.
SPEAKER_00But anyway, there would have been a SWAT team waiting for me.
SPEAKER_03So Beth comes home, Dean is folding laundry, and he goes, How's the book club? She goes, I lied. So you're thinking, Oh, she's gonna tell the truth. She goes, I didn't read the book. And then he goes, Yeah, I didn't get the job. And she goes, That's okay. You know, maybe we'll just hold off on the apartment thing. He looks at her, he she's like, Well, you know, until you know we have more money. He's like, Yeah. Right. So translation, let's hold off on the divorce, but we're not gonna say that. But that's what that's what they mean. And she's sitting there and she's talking to him, and they're just doing, you know, being all cute and sitting on the couch watching TV. Hold that thought, Lisa. I lost my track or something. Ruby and Stan. Ruby comes home. Stan is knocked the fuck out. He goes, Yeah, it crashed. She goes, Did you hear anything? He's like, Well, apparently, Agent Turner has so much egg on his face that DA's talking about just dropping everything. And she goes, So what does that mean? He goes, We're the luckiest, dumbest people on earth right now. Yeah. And he goes, and he pretty much asked her, like, can we just stop? Like, no more, no more. Just put us first. And she's like, okay. And she's looking like in my head, she's just like, knowing Beth, she's gonna have me some other shit, but I'm gonna try my best not to do it, you know?
SPEAKER_01I guess Beth and Dean fell asleep on the couch watching TV, and she wakes up and she's like, Yeah, because they were watching, like when she came in, he was watching some movie that apparently like he's seen a hundred million times, and it was like one of those nostalgia things for them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So she wakes up, she's looking for her phone, and I guess she I guess she was left in the car. So she goes to get her car her phone. She goes to get her car, she goes to get her phone from the car, and then she gets she gets kidnapped, she gets picked up, she gets right, and we all know what it is. Let's be real, and it's real. He brings it back to the empty loft. I love that loft. I want that loft. Someone buy me, someone buy me a loft like that. I'll forever be your friend. And he has the agent tied up and gagged on the column. I'm like, I had the idea for that column, but in a more sexy kind of way. But yes, tied up tying did go into effect in that in that memory, but in that thought. Um Agent Turner just wasn't included, but okay. No, and not, yeah, it was tied up in a good way. You know what? Tell me, you didn't think of that, Lisa, when you saw those empty columns?
SPEAKER_00I really didn't, but okay.
SPEAKER_03I'm a freak. Just call me Adina Howard. If you know, you know.
SPEAKER_00I guess I don't. Adina Howard, the song?
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. I was like the freak. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know what I don't okay. Okay, sorry. Pull on moment. It's it's not that sunny outside. Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03Okay. You see Annie and Josh in the bathroom. He's brushing his teeth. She's on the in the toilet. She's using the bathroom. And they she starts having like that honest conversation, like about his pretty much everything he told her. He's like, Did you even go to the school? And did you even live here? And do you even like kids? He's like, I have a son. And she's like, he's in Arizona.
SPEAKER_01And he's Yeah, he's he starts to get get a little more honest about his life and his past.
SPEAKER_03And the more honest he gets, the more she's just like, I'm going. You could tell she's like, I'm so done. Like, I I can't. Like knowing that he lied about who he was, and actually the reality of it, it hits different. And he's like, Well, they go, I might be transferred to Arizona. She's like, Oh, uh-huh. Okay. He's like, it's just, you know, it's a direct flight. That's definitely a long time ago because there's no direct flights anywhere anymore, period. Like, I can't even go, I probably can't go from Milwaukee to O'Hare direct flight, okay, at this rate. Imagine that. Right? And she's just like, let's just go to bed. And he has a constipated look in his face again because he knows this is pretty much the end of shit. And I kind of skipped ahead. But this is when, and the next thing you see, um, Jimmy tied up to the column. And he pretty much tells her, shoot him. I solved your problem. Here's your problem. She goes, No, but I fixed it. And he's like, Do you really think he's gonna stop coming after you? And you also you see her the next morning walking home, looking jacked the fuck up. And she just goes to the the you can tell this is suburbs because her it's the next morning, the car store, the door is still open in her van, her phone's still in the that would not happen anywhere. She gets her phone, goes back in the house, and D's like, hey, would you go so early in the morning? And she's just like, I just okay. So that happened. So she's still in the days, then later on at the park, and the two cunts, I mean the two mothers are on either side of her at the park, the kids are playing, and they just get up to go, and they're like, Aren't you coming to lunch? Beth, bath, and she's like, No. I was like, Okay, all right. So she's in her kitchen and she's mixing stuff. Doesn't look like baking to me, but she's mixing stuff. She puts her little pan in the oven and ding ding ding. You are mute. Sorry. What were you saying?
SPEAKER_01I said, um you don't see like flour or any solids, you're just seeing liquids, but you're seeing a pan, and so you can tell she's and then she puts something in the oven. So she's doing something, she's cooking something, right? Something's cooking.
SPEAKER_03Well, something's baking because it's in the oven. It's it's in the oven, okay. Yes. Well, you could cook a turkey, that's not baking.
SPEAKER_00Of course.
SPEAKER_03Then Ding Dong, she opens the door and it's Turner.
SPEAKER_01You're like, What? Say word, right? Because the last we saw, like it was like you had she had to shoot him to survive, and you're like, how's he at her door?
SPEAKER_03Right. He's a zombie, he's a zombie turner.
SPEAKER_01Um, yeah, and he's beat up, so you know, so like it's not like she dreamed this.
SPEAKER_03Did she it was not like Dallas, it wasn't Jay on the shower. It's fine. He actually got her. Okay, another. I love that reference. Okay. I'm sorry, I'm just so random. I think at one point he's like, she's like, what do you want? He's like, what do you want? He's like, I just want to be a mom. I just want to be a mom. And you find out what actually transpired that night. Um, a little back and forth with Rio and her, and she goes, You made me do all of this. Like, this is not my fault. This is on you. Like, this is your thing. And he goes, he very threatening in a sexy way, makes a move towards bath, and she shoots him three times, shoots him. She lets, she unties Turner, and he tells her, I got this. You just go. And he goes to Rio. And the short version, he makes a deal with Rio. He goes, You give me what I want, and I'll make sure you get the help. And you're like, wait, this motherfucker got kidnapped by Rio. You hear them try, you hear the talk, like she wants to get like she doesn't want any parts of Rio. Like, and you still are after her? Like, I feel this is what I got from it. Like, he wants information.
SPEAKER_01He means Agent Turner.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and you still like you, you watch all this transpire. She saved your life, and you still want information from Rio, the actual gangbanger. And I'm just like, this is why I took it when I was watching it.
SPEAKER_01I didn't see that scene the same way. Okay, how do you see it? Do you want to. Finish like the whole episode.
SPEAKER_03Okay, you almost finished anyway. Yes. Yeah. So we go back to him visiting Beth. You go back to present time. And she goes, So what now? He's like, I I just wants to go away with my man. And she goes, then what? He goes, we'll see. He's like, what do you mean we'll see? Like, what the fuck? He goes, just continue being a mom. And then yeah, he's like, we'll see how it goes. Goes. And she's like, see how what goes? And he goes, well, just just can just continue being a mom. So he leaves. Because while she's talking, the time, the her little alarm went off. Her oven alarm, her oven timer went off. Her oven timer, yeah. And she goes, she opens it up. And she's just taking bunny, she's taking the ink off the cash. Let's just cut the chase. And she, the girls at the living room, the dining room. She goes, I got something for you. And it's $20.
SPEAKER_01No, she said, I made you something.
SPEAKER_03I made you something. Andy goes, Oh, I think it was Andy who said, These look kind of janky. She goes, only because I used Dean's printer. But I know someone who all we need is get like a better printer and get the ink and get all this. And I know someone who has the access to X, Y, and Z, and she's a single mom. So they're bringing they're bringing a fourth in on the gang. Did I miss anything? I feel like though, this is the when they say, oh, this is when they have the flashback of Turner saying, Yeah, I'll get you help. If you, you know, give me what you need, I'll give you help. That's when that part of the flashback happens.
SPEAKER_01Right. He and then he's like, uh-huh. And he he starts to dial 911 on the phone and he's like, We don't be trying to hit it, and he's like, mm-mm. He's like, but now you're gonna owe me if if I call now you have a chance, but you owe me.
SPEAKER_03You're owned, right? And then you see Beth going, we're free of him. I'm like, yeah, not so much. Yeah, right. Um, so that was in the that was end of season, that was end of episode 13, season two, the king. Now I've been dying to know what's on Lisa's mind.
SPEAKER_01Well, Marion, I mean, I I loved her before, even with her little racist old ladies, old lady ways. Yeah, can't help like having a soft spot for her. And I'm just like, okay, Nana Marion, yeah. It good for you. She probably got tired of handing him tabs and straws and straws, right? Taking orders from him. She was like, This is too much. It was one thing when he was stealing from me, it was one thing when I was making up lies. It was the straw.
SPEAKER_03That was the last that was the can, that was a straw that broke the camel's back, literally.
SPEAKER_01It was an actual straw. I think that Dean is doing this nostalgia shit on purpose. I think that Dean is smarter than we give him credit for, and I think he picked that apartment because it reminded her of whatever. Uh-huh. I think that he put that movie on and is trying to take like that that scenic route on purpose to get her, you know what I mean? Like to say, like, okay, well, let me try a different approach, right?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03He acts with like let me just say, but I can see him asking for the divorce and asking, and then doing all of this just to do this.
SPEAKER_01Right. Right. So I I think that he is smarter than we give him credit for. And I think that, but I think that the asking for the divorce was also strategic because he's he's playing that card and saying, like, mm-mm, I'm not gonna, okay, you want him, go have him, but then this is what happens, and it's kind of like making her have to choose without psychiatry things, right? Yeah, okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_03If only he can use his power to now, they would not be in the situation, but go ahead, right?
SPEAKER_01I think it's ironic that when once again on a season finale, we find Beth handed a gun by Rio. This time, she had to choose. She shot Rio. She let Turner stay alive, but when she had to shoot Dean, she still didn't shoot Rio. Now she did, but it was but it was empty. No, she didn't. Didn't she go to shoot him, but it was empty? No, remember she was like, I can't, and he took the gun and he was like, It's okay. Oh, right, right, right. And then he shot Dean.
SPEAKER_03Right. So one could went to go shoot him, but it was empty.
SPEAKER_01No. One could say, okay, well, maybe she figured, okay, well, we know what happens if she doesn't make a choice. So she felt like she had no choice, but I just thought it was still kind of bookends, right? How we have those callbacks to like the baking at the end of the episode versus the baking at the beginning episode, the choice between you know, Rio saying, here's a gun, you have to shoot, and now she makes a different choice than she made in the last season finale.
SPEAKER_03Could it be that she slept with him in this season and he just considered it it was nothing? Could it be like a part of that woman scorn piece? Like a little bit like fuck you.
SPEAKER_01It could be anything, but I feel like there's just a lot more between Turner and Rio. And here's why you brought up a good point, right? And it like it was kind of like in my head, but it was just like yeah, whatever. Turner wasn't using Beth to flip to the higher ups of the organization, like you mentioned, right? Like, yeah, I mean, what are the what are the odds that this little suburban housewife that will spend four hours baking is really running this crime this big crime organization with like really, really well made crime. I know that sounds like weird, but you know what I mean, right? Like it's not like a janky organ or you know, thing. And then the way Turner was just like, okay, and you owe me. I I feel like there's history there.
SPEAKER_03And obviously Turner was already onto Rio, but we don't know if that you kind of think like Rio, like he's using Rio to get to Beth, like he thinks Beth is the mastermind.
SPEAKER_01Meaning that I wouldn't be surprised if Turner was somehow caught up in this.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01Whether above or below, and we know how Rio feels about his rotten eggs. Yeah. It was just the way he was like, you owe me. And I'm like, all right, but if he was when I was going on that thread, and I was like, because and then again, it was like, okay, well, maybe it's just like a courtesy, right, for like the white suburban mom, because you know they're seen as low threat, that you could come to the house and take the statement, but then it was also like he put everything, Rio put everything on Beth, and they're still treating Beth like she's a masculine almost what they're treating Beth like she's a master, like well, I just feel like more like with kid gloves. Oh, okay. And so it was kind of like either because you realize that she's taking one for the team, and you know that she's really not responsible for all of and this is even before they knew Leslie was still alive.
SPEAKER_03So they they figure she has more if she has more information that she has she's has more information for us. So let's treat those with kid gloves, no?
SPEAKER_01See, I thought of it more like if they can put a face and close the case, it saves his ass because he's involved.
SPEAKER_03Oh, okay. I'm getting it. Okay, okay, I see what you I'm picking up what you're putting down.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. Okay. And so then I was like, well, is he if if that was the case, would he be above or below Rio? And then I'm like, probably below. Otherwise, if he was above, he would have taken Rio out sooner.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. So like there was just something that was like, just something just feels off between me below Rio.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, something just fell off between their interaction.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And it was like Turner obviously already knew he was looking for Rio. But yet the first time like he was looking for Rio, right? Except for the first time he encountered Beth, that was the only time. And Beth is like, yeah, we slept together. And I just feel like if he was really looking for Rio, you would have been pressing her on it.
SPEAKER_03He would have treated her like he treated Ruby. Like, as far as I need all the like I want all, I want everything you got.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. And it wasn't until this episode where I even thought maybe he is involved somehow. Maybe that's how he knew about the warrant, uh, about how they were gonna go to the uh dealership. And it's weird because it's like, yeah, on one hand it doesn't make sense because then if they knew, then why would he be so intent on looking for shit but still give a heads up? But I I don't I don't know. So there's just something that just doesn't make sense to me, and I don't know what it is, but anyway, that's that's it. Okay, but obviously we know he's not gonna be dead.
SPEAKER_03No, we can't kill Rio because Rio is sexy as fuck, and you need that sexual attention.
SPEAKER_01Well, and also for the simple reason that you kept saying, get in the car, Elizabeth, and we haven't heard that line yet, so okay.
SPEAKER_03There's that he hasn't said it yet.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he has. No, he has not.
SPEAKER_03He hasn't?
SPEAKER_01Not like that. Nope. Not there has never been a scene where he says, get in the car, Elizabeth.
SPEAKER_03I mean, to be fair, it's all over TikTok. It was like it's all over the place. Well, not to not in my feed. So I don't it's never been, it's always been in my feed. I'm sorry. I just assume like it's always in my since the show came out.
SPEAKER_01It's but also like may I mean I'm I just might not spend as much time. Or or maybe because I didn't see the show, it just never clicked. It never yeah. Like I hate I hate Facebook. And I don't know, I I just don't go on too much. I don't know. Do you have anything else? No. All I know is that Rio is gonna be big mad when he comes back. Like he shot me. Uh you know what? I could see that being the scene where he's like, get in the car, Elizabeth. And she's like, oh shit, he rose from the dead. He pulled up like I don't have anything else. I we're like halfway done now, right? Because there's like four seasons. I better start thinking about what show I want to watch. It better be good.
SPEAKER_00Lost 2.0. Um, yeah, don't that's not nice.
SPEAKER_01All right. Well, I guess you can you can always text us your ideas for another show that you want us to cover. I want to do another one of those one-off seasons that we both haven't seen.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01And I I have a few in mind, but obviously we have some time. Huh? What'd you say?
SPEAKER_03I said we have as a yeah, you pick it.
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm down for it. Okay. And but yeah, so visit us assassinsips.com. Please consider supporting the show, whether that be monetarily or like on socials.
