Hi and welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips.
SPEAKER_04Where every episode we Okay, I stopped asking a fool and then it sidetracked.
SPEAKER_02Take two. Okay. Oh well, I really just blanked on that.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I've been there.
SPEAKER_02Welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips, where every episode we will be discussing and dissecting an episode of Lost in Order. We are your hosts. I'm Lisa.
SPEAKER_04And I'm Agnes.
SPEAKER_02And today's episode is Abandoned.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02What are you drinking today?
SPEAKER_04I am okay. Listen. I have a twofa right now. I'm drinking my dose of pre-breakfast kombucha as I drink my special coffee.
SPEAKER_02Sounds good. I am drinking my homemade hard seltzer.
SPEAKER_04Fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_02No stinology. Fuck off. It's uh mandarin orange vodka and no mandarin orange seltzer and lemon vodka.
SPEAKER_04I approve that message.
SPEAKER_02Alright. So today's episode is a Shannon episode. Hi Shannon! Missed you. Any anything before we start?
SPEAKER_04Let me look at my notes because yeah, if I don't leave notes, then I'm like the No. Nothing about before we start. Okay. In flashback. Oh question. How do you feel about the red lip? I am one of those people, I love a red lip. But I find that I haven't it has been hasn't been called for lately. So I just do like a new gloss.
SPEAKER_02I actually put on red also. But then I was like, yeah, I took it off. It might still be like a stain. But I took it off. Why? I was like, oh, it's too much.
SPEAKER_04I felt like we need to go a little bit. Well, I'm having like I'm not having like really bad hair days, so my hair is in a tight ponytail that look like I'm bald. So with the headphones, you can't see the earrings. So I'm like, I gotta throw something. I gotta pop. Um I think should throw a red on. Throw some red on. But yeah, I just did this for you. I did this for you, Lisa.
SPEAKER_02It's all the way over there. I'm not getting up.
SPEAKER_04Way over there. So this is red, it's for you, Lisa. I did it just for you. Oh, you're welcome. I think about you. Baby.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02In flashback, an 18-year-old Shannon works as a ballet instructor and dreams of landing an internship with the prestigious dance company in New York. During a dance class, her friend Nora tells her about a man named Philippe who asked her to be an au pair. Did you catch that connection?
SPEAKER_04Philippe? No. But I felt like it was something, but I didn't catch it. Like I remember thinking at the time, like, I feel like I should, this is important, but I can't remember why.
SPEAKER_02So remember it back in the beginning of the series when uh she was talking about how she worked at the case. I remember yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I remember. Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So she she somehow she ended up. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_04Listen, I told you my singing was gonna come disturb you. It was coming.
SPEAKER_02Okay. That's what she said. After class ended, Shannon receives a phone call from her stepmother, who informs her that her father has been in a car accident. The two rushed to St. Sebastian Hospital, where a doctor tells them that Adam suffered massive internal injuries and he stopped breathing at the scene of the crash. He says they were unable to resuscitate him. Did you see Jack walk by in the whole? I did.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_02With his dad wig. At her father's funeral, a man arrives behind Shannon saying, Death sucks, doesn't it? This was so cheeky. I love it. And then Shannon is um wait, Shannon, I wrote it down. And Shannon is like, you came back. Cause you know Boone is dead. Yeah. Okay, okay, got it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Yeah. You're like, okay. Well womp. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The man is the man is Boone and Shannon is glad to see him. Boone gives her alcohol, claiming there's always Booze at wakes. At first, Shannon protests saying your mom's gonna freak.
SPEAKER_04I like that. But she gives Uh-huh. No, go ahead. I like this. Like, who doesn't serve alcohol at a wake anyway? Like who does? I was like, yeah, who doesn't do that? Like, you're supposed to. If it's any time to have alcohol, it's at a wake.
SPEAKER_02Boone asks Shannon to come visit him in New York, but she says she's planning to move there if she gets the internship at the Martha Graham dance company. Although Shannon says it's a one in three thousand chance, she remains optimistic that she will get the internship. Boone asks if she has spoken to his mom. Shannon says she's going through her thing and I'm going through mine. Shannon says Sabrina has hated her from the moment she met her. Shannon eventually gets the internship at the dance company, but finds out her rent check has bounced. She asks for help from Sabrina, or at least her part of her father's will. Sabrina says there was no will because Sabrina and Adam had a living trust, and everything passed to her. She tells Shannon that she has to work for her money and refuses to lend her money for her trip to New York. Sabrina says from now on, Shannon is on her own.
SPEAKER_04So, um one thing. So she's teaching ballet. And I'm probably, I mean, it's probably totally really doesn't make a difference because if you one discipline doesn't necessarily mean you can't do another discipline. I get it. But I found it um funny how they have her teaching children ballet, but the internship has the Martha Graham, which is contemporary dance. So I was like, okay. I just think I think there was there's other dance schools and companies that have a like a broader range that that could have been used.
SPEAKER_02Shannon gets kicked out of her own house, and as she's packing her things, Boone comes in. Shannon had apparently asked him to ask his mom for some money, but he comes back empty-handed, saying Sabrina knew why he asked for the money. She asks if she can move to his place in New York, but he informs her that he is leaving New York since his mom offered him a job and he accepted. He offers Shannon some of his own money, but she rejects it, asking whether or not he believes she can make it on her own. When he doesn't answer, she rejects his money again, saying she does not need his help.
SPEAKER_04This had me so fucking pissed for Shannon. I was livid for her because I felt like Okay, one, I'm like, I don't know the relationship between we don't know the relationship between her father and her. I get a feeling that they were very, very close. And I don't think he would have set up a trust that would let her to put her on her own without telling her. As a parent, like, listen, I'm doing this for your own good. So when I passed, nothing's coming to you. I want to I want you to do for your own. I think if that was the case, I think that conversation would have had would have been had. Um as opposed to not telling her. So that I I I just like I think it was done intentionally. I think the stepmother had a lot to do with it. Um and it pisses me off how the mother stepmother Boone's mother offered him a job to leave New York, knowing that Shannon was still, you know what I mean? Like she did intentionally to fuck with this child.
SPEAKER_02Um even in the hospital when the they told her, Oh, is your daughter coming? And she's like, stepdaughter. Like, that's totally irrelevant that the man is dead. Like, you know what? Like, I And not only that, but that's her father.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Like, you're just you're just a second wife. This is this is her f and so I know when um the other flashbacks and like the way she used Boone to get money and she was manipulative. Even then, I was like, there's a reason. I don't like now. I completely support her. Like, did she use his feelings for her? Absolutely. But his mother intentionally fucked her over, and she had did what she had to do to get her own fucking money. I really think, like her father's money, like it just and then on top of that, this woman has a sexful wedding planning business, and so on top of you your own business, and on top of that, you are still gonna make sure that your second your husband's money your husband's daughter doesn't get any of the money on top of that. Like, what the fuck? Are you fucking cunt? Yeah, I don't like using this. See you next Tuesday, but you're a fucking cunt.
SPEAKER_02So who's worse out of out of mothers? Who's worse? Her or Susan?
SPEAKER_04Susan, Susan, Susan, which one uh Walt. Walt's mom. Okay, definitely the stepmom's worst. Because I think because did she I think Susan made some really fucked up decisions, but as a mother, she did the best she could like she in her mind for her child. For her child thought. Well, she thought. Was it and she fucked over Michael and but be but Michael being a part of his son's life was also necessary for Walt's life.
SPEAKER_02But now let me let me be devil's advocate. Because didn't Sabrina try to make the best decision she could for her own child, which was Boone?
SPEAKER_04No, because she okay, if she had no money, if she didn't have her own money, was dependent on her husband's money to take care of her and Boone, then maybe, but she had her own money, she had her own successful company in of itself. She wasn't dependent on this man's money to survive, and there's no reason to completely cut out his daughter. I think she was just a selfish cunt. Okay.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_04And even though Boom.
SPEAKER_01Well, they did say she's like the Martha Stewart of marriage or something. Of weddings, right?
SPEAKER_04But just because you have that on and the outside doesn't mean on paper you could be successful, but bank account could be totally different. Anyhow, but yeah, as of now, she's a selfish cunt. Now I wonder. Okay, so they said that the accident that um Jack's wife hit who was it, what was his name? Adam hit him. Is that what is that what happened? Is that what they said? Or was it just a head-on collision? I'm not sure. Because I'm like, it's I just the timing. Like, when was the trust put into place relative to the accident?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. Wasn't it tensional somehow? One of the cars jumped the divider and it was a head-on collision.
SPEAKER_04I don't remember which what, who, what, where. Yeah. Um, but she might have hit him. But I'm just I was just like, because I felt like the trust wouldn't have been put in to fuck over Shannon without him telling her. You're banging. Oh. I feel like that he would have done that without telling her, and I feel like maybe he didn't get a chance to tell her, and maybe the accident. I don't know, maybe it doesn't read too much in like maybe the accident wasn't an accident, and the evil stepmother cunt has I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you are so far down the lost rabbit hole. Let's go to the island. As Shannon gives Vincent water outside her tent, Said comes along and tells her to pack her things. He takes her for a walk and presents her with a brand new shelter, saying that it's all hers. Shannon invites Saeed into the tent for the night, and the two share a kiss. When Saeed pulls a gun out of his waistband, Shannon asks him if he carries it around all the time, and he says he only carries it because he has someone to protect.
SPEAKER_04That was probably the most romantic thing I've ever heard anyone say. Like, someone tells me I carry this gun to protect you. Like, oh, thank you. You laughed me. Okay.
SPEAKER_02So much for that theory. Anyway. Halfway across the island, Cindy tells Anna Lucia they should get moving again. Anna Lucia says she wants to let her group rest a little longer, and Sawyer points out that she is lost. Anna Lucia blames Sawyer's friend for running off, otherwise, Echo would still be with them. When Echo and Michael finally return, Anna Lucia asks Echo if he's okay, and he says yes, but that he saw the others and they have to leave. Cindy asks how many there were, and Libby asks if the kids were there, but Echo won't say. Anna Lucia agrees to let the group keep moving. Back at Shannon's tent, Saeed and Shannon make love, and Shannon asks if they are serious now. Shannon playfully says I'm sorry. Said playfully says that he does this for all the girls and meet on deserted islands.
SPEAKER_04That was cute.
SPEAKER_02Afterward, Shannon wants to leave to get a drink of water, but Saeed leaves instead to get her for her. While he is gone, an apparition of Walt appears in the tent, dripping wet and speaking backwards. He says what appears to be they're coming and they're close. Shannon screams at the top of her lungs, but Walt has disappeared by the time Said gets to her. Half the beach, awakened by the screams, rush over. Said tells her and everyone listening, it was only a dream and everything is fine. Said publicly refuting her story leaves Shannon feeling angry and hurt. When Claire, who heard Shannon's screams, arrive with arrives with Aaron, Charlie acts very paternal and scolds her for waking the baby up. A bewildered Claire ends up apologizing to Charlie.
SPEAKER_04I get her bewilder. Okay, I'm like, oh, that's so cute. He's really coming into parenting. But I totally get her like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_02Like he he's like, he's like, Why why'd you you know you woke him and she's like, Yeah, well I heard screams. He's like, so you woke the baby and ran towards them. I get he's like, you know, she now he's gonna be up all night. Give him here. She's just like, okay.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so I get how she's like, wait, dude, and she's like, but w what? But on the flip side, I can see how he thinks that they're a couple at the same time. Like, you know what I mean? Like, like, cause I think everyone's assumed that they're together and they're a couple. And we're all like, oh yeah, they're together. But if you think about it, you're like, Well, no, no, they're not. Like, you know, like superficially everyone's assumed, but you think about it, you're like, yeah, no. So I get both of the the confusion within the late within the relationship.
SPEAKER_02Sorry. The next day, as Claire, I'm sorry, the next day, as Locke helps Claire get the baby to sleep, she complains to him about Charlie, saying that he acts like the baby's father, but she knows very little about him. He could be a religious freak for all she knows. Why else would he carry a statue of the Virgin Mary around with him? Locke is like, uh, aha I see.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I do not appreciate your uh immunity to me acting a damn fool. Like this is unacceptable.
SPEAKER_02Halfway across the island, Anna Lucia and Mr. Echo are leaving their party on a trek to join the middle section survivors and unite the two groups. Anna Lucia asks Echo how much further it is to the other camp. Echo says maybe a day or two. Sawyer stumbles at the back of the group. Libby checks his room and at and he asks if she's a doctor. She tells him she's a clinical psychologist. And Libby said it's bad, but not real bad, and he'll be okay. And like, and then he's like, Well, maybe then you could just talk to my shoulder.
SPEAKER_04I love I um okay, so it's obvious that they're heading back to the group. And I find I feel like it's like civilized and relatively speaking, sorry, you're allergic to me. Got it. I get it. I I I consider them like civilization, like they're going back to civilization, relatively speaking. So I have a feeling that I'm gonna have to like repeat my words and that like but them never see each other again, but okay. Sorry, I just took an allergy pill. Maybe you should have taken it like before so it can work.
SPEAKER_02I don't know, I forgot to take it last night. Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah, mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_02While traveling through the jungle, Michael asks why the Tailys are in so much fear. Anna Lucia says her group was kidnapped one by one by the others, and he should think again about who these people are. Sawyer is now so ill from his bullet wound that they are carrying him on a makeshift stretcher. The group manages to get the stretcher up a steep hill only to find that while they were doing so, another of their group, Cindy, disappeared. Echo and the others hear whispers and they run in fear.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so this is what had me a little like lost and second-guessing myself. Um so Goodwin from last week's episode. And I was like, oh yeah, the others, like whatever, the others did it. But then, like, well, this is the episode that was like according to Anna Lucia, I like saying her name, um the others rolls up the tongue, it doesn't it? Even from an a negar like me, anyway. Uh it the they make their the survivors from the tailies are disappearing, they're not being killed on the spot. So I'm like, So why is Goodwin shown that you know, so I'm like, maybe the others didn't do it? I don't know. But yeah, that that that that's I was like, uh that's the only thing that kind of made me like but we don't know what's happening. No, but based on Andrew City's stories all they know that they're they're disappearing. And they've been there for over, they've been at this point, they've been there for over a m over a month. So if they're just killing them eventually, you'd think they would have come across at least one other body. According to her, they're just disappearing, to their knowledge. But meanwhile, last week they're like, oh, they're talking about Goodwin, and like the others, yeah. And the way Echo said it is like it makes you think like he knows that the others killed him. And that's what we all think, yeah, the others killed him. But why is he killed and left there? But other ones just disappeared and never to be seen again.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_04But but that's me. I'm confused and I'm going to bed now, and I'm probably overthinking it. And I need more special coffee.
SPEAKER_02Hurley helps Rose with the laundry, asking her why they are hanging it to dry when there is a dryer in the hatch. He wonders if it's because she's afraid of the button. She laughs and says they wouldn't want to spoil themselves now. Shannon approaches Rose and Hurley, asking about. Walt and Michael's luggage. Rose mentions to Hurley about how terrible it must be to lose the one person you love on the island. Little foreshadowing there. Implying again that her husband is not dead. Shannon has resorted to using Vincent to try and track Walt. She has Vincent sniffs sniff Walt's clothing and tells the dog to find Walt. Walt leads her directly to Boone's grave, where Saeed finds her and assumes she's there to mourn her dead stepbrother. Feeling misunderstood and marginalized, she takes off again. When Saeed finally catches up to Shannon in the jungle, she tells him she knows Walt is not on the raft because they found the message bottle from the raft. After running further into the jungle, Shannon trips. As Saeed tries to help her up, she angrily asks him why he doesn't believe her, and she says she knows he will leave her as soon as they are rescued. But Said tells her he believes her. He promises her that he will never leave her and tells her he loves her. As they fall into an embrace, Saeed and Shannon hear whispers and look up to see Walt, again dripping wet, and this time putting his finger to his lips, saying Shh. Shannon runs after him into the jungle, and it takes a moment for Saeed to draw himself into action. He is running after her when a gun fires, and Shannon stumbles out of the g out of the jungle with a bullet hole in her stomach. The taily stands shocked behind Anna Lucia, who is holding a smoking gun. Shannon dies in Saeed's arms.
SPEAKER_04I have so many things to say. So, um, so Walt, let's go back to Walt. How is it that he's we don't know what I really don't know what the fuck is going on with Walt. But he seems to go to Shannon and whichever way as a premonition of the future, uh, of warning. Like the first time it was like, what was it? Don't push the button, he says to her.
SPEAKER_02Like don't push the button, button bad, or something.
SPEAKER_04Something like that. And hello, the button, you know, and the hatch and whatever. And the first time of this episode, he goes, They're coming, they're closer, and then that's how he tells to be quiet. It's like he's warning her against the Tailies. Like, so do or different things on the island at the very least. Well, I I just okay, but it's like, oh, they're coming as the Tailys are coming back to meet the survivors, and then shh, he tells her shush as they're close by, and obviously she's running toward he's telling them to be quiet, and she gets shot accidentally. I it it's anyway, that's that. Um I did not think she was going to be killed. I was like, Why?
SPEAKER_02But you you said that she was gonna be the first one killed in season two, and you were spot on. I didn't think I was gonna be spot on. But you also said later. Like, I I think you said I don't remember the shit I said. Either like either later in season two or later in the series.
SPEAKER_04Did I? Okay, I don't know. But I but watched this episode, but but wait, I wasn't ready for her to go. I think I was like, there's still more, like I wanted more from her. Am I surprised she was killed off? No. Let me rephrase that because no one here has really been killed off because they still go back and forth. But am I surprised? No. But since I wasn't ready for her to go. But yeah, is there more to her story? We're gonna find out more to her story. We find out more about Boon every fucking week. So, you know, and he's been killed off. So no one's really been killed off in this show.
SPEAKER_02I I know it's like a shitty thing to say, but remember the first night that Shannon and Sae spent together?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then the next, and then that's when Boone died.
SPEAKER_04It's like every time they have sex, someone gets killed. What the fuck? It's like a like an 80s horror movie. You go have sex in the car, and then here comes Jason.
SPEAKER_02Like At the end when like at like the very last scene when they just show Saeed's face and that look on his face.
SPEAKER_04It was a painful and it was like I'm gonna fucking kill you. Like, I'm gonna calmly kill that's not that calm, dangerous look. Like you don't ever want to see. Like, you prefer I think I would prefer to see someone's like straight anger as opposed to calm anger, because calm anger means no one's gonna find your body. Like so, what do you think is gonna happen? I don't fuck, I don't fucking know. I uh this some shit's gonna hit the fan. Obviously, there's gonna be shit, but of course, there's also like Mike and Jin. Did they show Mike and Jen at the background? Yeah, they were just like shocked. Right. So obviously since there's since they're there, and I'm sure there's whatever miscommunications. I know, sorry, since whatever miscommunications, like it's gonna be if they weren't there, I think someone is gonna be killed. Like someone would have died the next this next episode. But if there, you know something, no one's gonna get killed, at least I don't think. Because they're there to like kind of put like things in kind of like, oh, but wait, this is not what you think it is.
SPEAKER_02Like But if they but in that case, why couldn't they just s you speak up when they saw Shannon? They knew who Shannon is.
SPEAKER_04But I but I see them like but they come in after the fact, like you know what I mean? They weren't they weren't there when the I don't like you see him holding Shannon, you see um but I but um Anna. But Mike and like the rest of the middle tail the mid the rest of the survivor I'm gonna call them survivors and taillies. The rest of survivors didn't walk up until after it was said and done. Like they were behind her, so they didn't see they weren't there to say, hey, don't shoot her. Okay. Alright. The way you say that to me, and you're like, okay, I'm like, the fuck does she know that I don't fucking know? Like you wanna do trivia? Let's do trivia.
SPEAKER_02Okay. At 35 ten into the episode, Michael whispers, fuck me, as they carry Sawyer up the hill.
SPEAKER_04Like 35 minutes and 10 seconds into the show? Mm-hmm. Okay. What's the point of that trivia?
SPEAKER_02Just to tell you that, I don't know. I don't Jack is seen walking past Shannon and Sabrina at the hospital when they are informed of Adam Rutherford's death, which is seen from Jack's perspective in Man of Science, Man of Faith. I think that's the only time you saw Jack in this episode. Uh-huh. What the fuck was Jack doing? But he Jack you mean in this episode or in that scene? Yeah. No, in this episode. I guess he was on ship duty in the hatch. I guess. And we didn't even see Kate in this episode.
SPEAKER_04Well, you don't see all of them at all episodes though.
SPEAKER_02But Kate and Jack are main characters. Like I can understand when you don't see Shannon in an episode or Charlie in an episode, but Kate and Jack.
SPEAKER_04But at the s I don't think it they were they were pertinent to this episode, though. They I mean, what's their character? Were they busy together? Are you trying to say? I think I don't think they were I don't think they were pertinent into this episode. So they're not. Maybe they were in the hatch.
SPEAKER_02Keep them busy. Wow, I just lost my train of thought.
SPEAKER_04Drink more alcohol.
SPEAKER_02Fuck. Maybe later. Oh, okay. So up un up until this point, every time that we saw Walt, what like did you think that Shannon was really seeing him or what what did you make of Walt up until this episode?
SPEAKER_04I don't really know. Um, could he be there? Could he not be there? Because Saeed saw him. Said saw him. That's what I was like. Even before Saeed saw him, I thought he could still be there. Because Lost is fucking weird as fuck. Um I don't fucking know. Like Lost has me, like, like you said, down the lost rabbit hole. I feel like I like I feel as I feel like my my observations and my guesses are so fucking far out there. I'm like, what the hell are you smoking? I'm on the mushrooms again or some shit. But then I'm like, but wait, I that was kind of close. What the fuck? So I'm like, I don't know. And then you had to think about it, the others. How they make the up how they make like all these survivors and tellies disappear. And then we're assuming the others took Walt, like, who just disappears? And it's just weird. Like, I don't fucking know at this point. Like, okay, one of the reasons the show kind of gets on my fucking nerves a little bit is that it's so I like a twist. I enjoy a twist, but everything's a twist here. And it's like, come the fuck. Like, it gets to the point where it gets redundant and like annoying as fuck. And at least as I'm watching this, every week I'm watching this. I'm like, if I wasn't doing this with Lisa, I would have stopped watching this shit a long time ago. Uh, because there's only so much twist when you be like, oh, this is entertaining to I'm annoyed. So yeah, I'm annoyed. But my love for you outweighs your annoyance.
SPEAKER_02Slightly.
SPEAKER_04Slightly. As you know, I can get highly annoyed at times. I can Agnes gets very Aggie.
SPEAKER_02This we this episode focused on Shannon, even though we now lost Shannon. But I think it I think it put a lot of things in perspective.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So after seeing her episode, you you pretty much had it right the whole time about her. You know, about like that there's this more or to her, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely. Because listen, she's 18 when her father died, and her gr her stepmother's like, oh, you haven't done anything with your life. 18? These are child, like this is still children. You you you you are still trying to find what you want to do, what you don't want to do, and finding yourself. Not like she's a 40-year-old woman who hasn't had a steady job. So she definitely has used this. She is definitely she's the typical evil stepmother. 18. Like the girl, she's a child. She does like whatever it is, she's has she found has she had found her niche yet? No, but the child's 18. Right, right. What the fuck? So I I I'm so fucking angry for Shannon at this point.
SPEAKER_02And so that ties into the title, abandoned. Abandoned. Because obviously she was abandoned by her father. Not not on purpose, but she was pretty much abandoned by her her stepmother.
SPEAKER_04That was a decision. Right, and I feel like she feels abandoned by people that she's been with, even emotionally. Um, right.
SPEAKER_02I mean she kind of felt abandoned by Boone because he didn't believe in her. Right. And she started to feel abandoned by Saeed because he didn't believe her when she said she saw Walt.
SPEAKER_04I think he also had trying to understand.
SPEAKER_02I I don't think he and the funny thing is though, I think Said But Said is a very rational person.
SPEAKER_04But how many people would have believed her anyway? You know what I mean? It's it was kind of outlandish, and I don't think he didn't believe her per se. I think he believed that she thought she saw him. I hate that, I hate that difference. But um, and it's also not it's a lot of things that they didn't get a chance to explore with each other as far as uh your person like you don't get they didn't get a chance to get vulnerable with each other a lot, like and understand each other's she didn't get a chance to tell him her fears or her insecurities, you know, like you do with relationships. So she didn't get a chance to actually understand where she was coming from, like they didn't get a chance, and I feel like she could have been such a great couple. He was he, I think he was so good for her, he was exactly what she needed in life, and it makes me sad that they didn't get a chance. Like he was what she needed to show that no, I'm not gonna abandon you on so many different levels, and he has really been there for her as much as he could have, considering as much because the more you know a person, the more you can be there for them.
SPEAKER_02So well, and I think that the other part of that is like when it comes to believing, like if there's anybody on the island who she would have said and believed, obviously it would have been Locke. Yeah. But but I don't think that Saeed was a was so far out there about not believing her because she heard whispers. Yeah. And he's very he's very good about trying to get like the information and piece things together and not and not make a decision before he has all the facts. Like even when he heard the whispers, he didn't even want to talk about it because he didn't know what he heard. Heard. You know, and he and yeah, he tried to downplay it because he was like, Oh, but I was tired, I was disoriented, but but he knows that he heard it. And with all the shit that you've seen on this damn island, this I this is beyond belief. I mean, come on.
SPEAKER_04And I think on some level, I think you you have to keep to keep your sanity, you have to have equal parts logic and belief. Because yes, he sees all this crazy shit going around, but logic, it's good to keep your to stay grounded, to try to keep some, like, okay, I hear A, B, and C, that makes no fucking sense. I like to throw some logic in it. So you keep because if you go too far either way, you're gonna lose your fucking mind. So I think he has a very good balance of okay, I know I saw crazy shit. I I wanna keep my sanity. Let's try to explain it logically, but know there's some crazy shit going on.
SPEAKER_02Like you have to and like, especially that she feels so passionately about this, and that she, whether she sees it or not, she really believes that she does. He I think that he should have realized that he's doing her disservice by discrediting her and what she saw.
SPEAKER_04I don't think he understood how much of a disservice, but like he did understand her abandonment issues because they didn't get a chance to go there, they didn't get a chance to know each other well enough. I don't think he understood the depth. So I think as far as what he knew of her, he did that, he was there as much as he could be for her, based on what he knew. I totally think if they had a more long opportunity to get to know each other and understand each other's insecurities and what they go through, I think he he might have he may have reacted differently. Because all he knows, for example, with the boon at the all he sees is her at her deaf stepbrother's grave. Who wouldn't think that that's why she's upset? Oh, yeah, absolutely. You know, there's just some things that without knowing more, you have to go with the obvious, and there's nothing wrong with that. Yeah, and I think he's giving her a lot more credit than people who knew her already. Like he had more faith in her as a person, as a woman, than Boone did. And he just met her. That's true. So, yeah, I think they could have got like they could have it makes me sad because I think she they are what each other needed.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Yeah, but and then going back to the title at the end of the episode, it's Said who's kind of abandoned. Yeah, I would have cried. Another lost love.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I can't. I can't make me cry, damn it. Sorry. Warm my icy heart.
SPEAKER_02Do you have any questions that came up or anything like that? Let's pull up my notes.
SPEAKER_04Okay, so it's kind of funny because you know Jen, when they're talking and he's still talking in in Korean. I'm at the point now where I feel like I'd have said Korean. Like you know what he's trying to say. Like you it's not just me. Like, I feel like No. I'm true, it's it's context, it's contextual, where like based on the conversation, you know what he's trying to say. But I just feel like I'm like, okay, yeah, this is what he's saying. I feel like it's funny. Um oh, when Adam Lucia was like, how much longer? And he was like, could be next day, it could be longer, and she's like, Oh, these things are big. How is he supposed to time a journey on uncharted territory that he's never been on before? Yeah, he's never been on. He does have Google Maps, like it's gonna take us, no, like and it's not like he's never been there before, he doesn't know how big the island is. How you supposed to fucking chart like but that was my first insight. I was like, but um, um that was it. Oh yeah, and Sawyer, I don't know, because him obviously like he has this infection, gonna pull he better not die, Lisa. If he dies, I'm done.
SPEAKER_02I thought it was if Locke dies. Both of them. Lisa's like, I'm gonna if it makes you feel better, I don't want Sawyer to die either.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I hate you. I just realized I didn't put highlighter on. No, it looks like it. Oh, I thank you. Because it's really awesome lighting that this cycling chick sent me.
SPEAKER_02She must be fun. She's special. Alright, next episode is the other 48 days. The other 48?
SPEAKER_04Like, um the other 48 days. I'm just thinking 48 hours. Like, you know, 40 like the other 48.
SPEAKER_02Like okay, it's not based on one person, so we'll just get to it when we get to it. But it does focus in on the taillies.
SPEAKER_04Interesting. Oh, so is the tailies 48 uh days? I keep saying hours. Okay, ooh, so my question is like, what the fuck happened for them to be so well the others, so kidnapping them. Um, but interesting. So it's okay.
SPEAKER_02It's a little bit of a play on words because it's the other 48 days, you know, as in what the 48 days were like for them, but also kind of like as in the others.
SPEAKER_04Oh, interesting. The others, right?
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_04So you're just hoping to see like what happened to them and oh yeah, I want the short, I want the one-hour version of what's happened to them, the past, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay, cool. And any last words on this episode?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Other than I speak Korean now, I understand Korean now. But but did you ever feel that way at one point?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I feel like maybe they may maybe they make him use the same words a lot so that you feel like that subconscious level of recognition.
SPEAKER_04I'm pretty sure it's because you like in the context of the conversation, you know what he's trying to say, but still, I feel like I feel like Hugo in this dream.
