Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sass and Tips, where every week we discuss and dissect an episode of Lost in Order while we drink, and we are your hosts. I'm Lisa.
SPEAKER_01And I'm Agnes.
SPEAKER_05And today's episode is Expose. What are you drinking today?
SPEAKER_01I'm drinking nice Crips Stella Rosse Black. It's good.
SPEAKER_02Interesting.
SPEAKER_01I don't like red wine, but the Stella Rossi, it's it's it's not like red wine. So the tannin doesn't affect me. Yeah, it makes Agnes happy.
SPEAKER_05Nice. I have vodka soda. Trying to, you know.
SPEAKER_01Jersey iced tea.
SPEAKER_05There's not even any iced tea in it, damn it.
SPEAKER_01I know. I'm trying. I'm trying.
SPEAKER_05No, but I did ask. There's no iced tea in a long island iced tea either. Shut up, semantic. No, but um, I asked my friend to help me. I want to be like, I want to be real bougie and have like a signature drink.
SPEAKER_01Nice. I approve.
SPEAKER_05So she gave me some ideas and I think I know which one mine's gonna be. Hmm. Well, I'm not gonna tell you mine because I don't want anybody to steal it until I perfect it. I'll tell I'll I can tell you off the air. So it does involve it does involve a trip to like Lowe's though. So that's gonna be fun. What the fuck? Yeah, I'm really excited about it.
SPEAKER_00Lisa's gonna be drinking turpentine.
SPEAKER_05Turpentine twister. Yeah. Um, that'll really get you fucked up. No, it's it's edible. It's it's not it's not anything crazy. Um, but yeah, so I'm trying to anyway, I'm trying to figure that out. So can I tell you something that happened this weekend that I was like really like proud of, like as a New Yorker? So I was in the mall with my kids, well, my older kids, we were picking up our glasses in the Staten Island Mall, and this cannot come as a surprise to anyone who's ever heard of Staten Island. That Staten Island is like the deep south of New York City. Okay, I've heard it referred to that, referred to as that, and like no truer words have been said.
SPEAKER_01Armed of the five boroughs, they're like no one acknowledges it as a borough.
SPEAKER_05No, but like when it comes to like diversity and racism, it's just it's just not there, you know.
SPEAKER_01It's just right, no, and that's why we don't acknowledge that we don't acknowledge them.
SPEAKER_05And and in today's political climate, especially with coronavirus, and you got people calling it like the Chinese flu and whatnot, like so anyway, we were in the store, and all of a sudden we hear screams, like screams. So we're like looking out the doors because it's it's like open, you know how right it's like on the corner, so whatever. And um there's the escalator right there, and there's like all these people gather around the escalator, and we're just like we didn't know what happened. I thought somebody like fell off the escalator or fell off the second floor railing, it wouldn't be the first time somebody's jumped in that mall, and so we just didn't know what happened. Like, all we could hear are screams. Turns out that there was a little boy who got his foot caught in the escalator. Oh from what I can gather, he put his foot on the side as it was coming down, and we all do it, it sucked it in. No, so the kid couldn't have been more than like four years old. Oh god, no, and so just everybody just rushed to the escalator, and it was just everybody just jumped in, you know, um, on the escalator.
SPEAKER_01You hit the emergency button, yeah.
SPEAKER_05They stopped it, and then people were just lining up like below the kid, like from the bottom to where they were, and then on the top, like basically using their feet to push the walls of the escalator. It was just a line of people that wasn't working. People are like, nope, we need lubrication. People are handing that his whole foot get stuck. Oh, there's a shoe.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_05I'll put it this way when the when the foot came out, there was no shoe. So I don't know what happened to the shoe. He was wearing a rain boot, but I had Vaseline in my pocket. I was like, here's the Vaseline, people were handing the Village.
SPEAKER_01Right, because you always put the Vaseline.
SPEAKER_05I always have the Vaseline. See, people make fun of me for it. Came in handy, but not really. That wasn't working. The people in the store went to get crowbars, like yo, they had that kid's foot out of there before the fire department even got there. And we all know that in New York City, the fire department is the first one to arrive, no matter who you call. Yeah, yo, half of those people probably went back to talking shit about Asians afterwards, unfortunately. Yeah, but I have to tell you that, like, it was just so refreshing.
SPEAKER_01And it makes you want to cry. I'm like, I want to.
SPEAKER_05Because like that, the the mother was in tears. Like the the kid is just screaming, like we thought his foot was gonna come out of there like mangled by the way he was screaming, but it didn't, thank God. Um, he was the ambulance. My car was parked like where the exit was, right there. So like we saw him go to the ambulance and like he was fine, thankfully. I mean, I don't I don't know like if anything was broken, but like nothing was bloody, nothing was, you know, thankfully, but like it was just so like refreshing to see like humanity come together, like fuck stereotypes, fuck everything else. Like, just somebody needed help, and we all just jump in. That's one thing that I will always be proud of as a New Yorker. Like, we'll fuck you up, we'll curse you as we're helping you, but we're gonna help you, and there's nothing you can do to stop us.
SPEAKER_01There was like the post, there was someone that posted the difference between um East Coast and West Coast. It's that East Coast, especially New Yorkers, really. Um, right, we're I posted it. You did you posted it? We're not nice, but we're kind. And the West Coast is the opposite. And if they take offense to it, that's the reason. Like, you know how it is.
SPEAKER_05Like, shut the fuck up, not gotta say, just let me help you.
SPEAKER_01Right, nothing. Like, you don't have to say anything, there's no conversation. I got the stroller and woke up about the day, you know.
SPEAKER_05It's yes, so that was my little adventure over the the weekend, and and hope the little boy is okay. So okay, episode overall. You say you liked it.
SPEAKER_01I did.
SPEAKER_05It was it was like the writers just hearing the fans' thoughts and being like, Alright, we'll we'll we got you. We're gonna give you one. So I'm gonna start with the flashbacks, okay? Copy that. Off island. An MC announces the arrival of Corvette, the pride of St. Paul, as Nikki takes off her coat to reveal a faux diamond bikini and dances around a pole on a club stage. She spots someone entering Mr. Lachade's office and follows him with her coat on, catching the man opening a suitcase of money on his desk. She confronts him and says that the money was meant for the orphanage, and Mr. Lashade must really be the cobra. The other man aims a gun at her, but she shouts her catchphrase, Razzle Dazzle. It kicks to the pull. I'm sorry, it's so stupid.
SPEAKER_01It was so fucking stupid. I didn't know what was the whole point.
SPEAKER_05I know, I couldn't even say it without laughing. I'm sorry. I that that pop's like all right. Um, she kicks it to the floor and grabs it. She aims it at Mr. Lashade, but he shoots her first. She falls to the floor, apparently dead. Two dancers, Autumn and Crystal, burst in, and Lashade tells them Corvette was working for the Cobra and that the Cobra will pay. Side note, I have the same bathing suit as Crystal. Not that I can fit in it these days, but I do. A voice says, and cut, and a television crewman closes the clapboard labeled expose. Lashad revealed to actually be the actor, Billy D. Williams, helps Nikki to her feet. It's Lando. You don't watch Star Wars.
SPEAKER_01No, but I know Billy D, and I was very happy. I thought it was kind of cool. I mean Billy D. Williams.
SPEAKER_05But that's Lando Calrician, dude. Come on. All right.
SPEAKER_01I know I'm behind me, but okay.
SPEAKER_05All right. Well, Star Wars to me is like the godfather for everyone else. The creator of the show, Howard Zuckerman, announces that it's a series rap for Cavet as the crew applauds Nikki. He walks her outside, where the Sydney Opera House can be seen in the background, and offers to bring her character back. He asks her if she's leaving Sydney to go back to Los Angeles, but she says she loves him and she isn't leaving. Howard and Nikki are eating at his house and he introduces his new chef, Paolo, to Nikki when she compliments the food. He says, Paolo came to Sydney and came to Howard's office every day until he gave him the job. Howard offers her a bread roll and she sees that he has placed a diamond bracelet there for her. He's about to explain why his wife is an obstacle to their getting married when he clutches his chest and then dies. Nikki grabs a necklace with the key off of Howard's neck as she complains about having to eat the same food as him. And thus her true colors are shown. No. They enter Howard's closet and unlock a secret safe Nikki claims no one else knows about. Paolo prepares to smoke, but Nikki stops him so that they don't leave evidence. Inside the safe, they find how do you say them like the Russian nesting dolls?
SPEAKER_01I call them nesting dolls.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, Mat Matryoshka.
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_05Okay, I'm sorry if I butchered that. Nikki looks at the contents of the doll and exclaims, Razzle freaking dazzle. As they sit at the Sydney Airport restaurant, Paolo reads a newspaper article to Nikki, which reports Howard's death is heart failure. They laugh and kiss, and Nikki asks about Paolo's gum. He tells her it's nicotine gum and that he has quit smoking. They toast each other with champagne as they are interrupted by Shannon loudly complaining about a lack of seating in the waiting area, and Boone being responsible for them not getting first class tickets. Boone politely asks Paolo for the extra chair, but Shannon pulls Boone away, accusing him of flirting with random guys, which she blames for their delay. Nikki asks Paolo to promise her they will never end up like Shannon and Boone.
SPEAKER_01I do have to admit I did like the little cameos.
SPEAKER_05It was like the dead lossies reunion. Yeah. So on the island. The survivors, this is still a flashback, but the survivors from A15 roam around the debris of the fuselage in shock. Nikki runs past Shannon, who's screaming for Boone, and searches for her bag as Gary Troop gets sucked into the engine with it which explodes. Nikki screams for Paolo, turning over survivor, but it's Ars who asks, Are we alive? Did we survive? Look at me. Boone runs up to Nikki and asks if she has a pen. She spots Paolo staring out in shock at the ocean. She holds his face with concern and asks him where the bag is. Like this fucking bitch. Paolo was shocked that she was most concerned about the whereabouts of the diamonds rather than his and everyone else's well-being. I think Paolo it took Paolo landing on um a crashed island, surviving a plane crash to realize that he has questionable taste in women.
SPEAKER_01Right, can I like really? You don't like, are you really surprised that this is what her main focus was? Like this, you went with this woman into the scheme. You're surprised that this is who she is?
SPEAKER_05Day six, Nikki and Paolo search through the luggage at night while theorizing about the nature of the monster. Nikki tells Paulo to focus as they need to find the bag before they are rescued. Ethan offers them clothes if they need them and introduces himself. Did you like that Wisconsin sweatshirt?
SPEAKER_01I saw it. I didn't like it.
SPEAKER_05Nikki says they're looking for Paolo's nicotine gum. Ethan suggests looking inland, and Arch runs by, shouting that Boone has taken the water. Jack comes out, tells them he has found water, and makes his live together die alone speech. Day 24. Nikki finds Dr. Ars examining his collection of 20 new species inside his shelter. The female spider, Medusa spider, emits an extremely powerful pheromone. Nikki asks for his help in figuring out where her luggage might have landed. Ars offers to draw a map showing possible trajectory of debris that fell from the plane as it crashed. Paolo asks jealously about Nikki asking Ars for help and suggests Ethan would have been more help. They follow the map and find the drug smuggler's plane. Nikki asks him to climb up there to look for a radio, but he says no because it's gonna fall.
SPEAKER_01Like if they find the plane first, they found the pearl hatch first, they found everything. I think I find everything kind of comical.
SPEAKER_05Then they discover the pearl hatch and open it. Paolo wants to investigate, but Nikki doesn't let him. Day 33. Shannon and Arst are yelling at Kate for not telling the group about the guns from the Marshalls case. Remember when that happened when Shannon got the gun and everybody's like, oh, but how does she know?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05Well, this is how she knew she knew where the key was. Uh shortly after that, Nikki and Paolo arrive and question what's going on. Shannon tells him that Kate, Jack, and Sawyer, actually she says Kate and her two boyfriends, didn't tell the camp about the case of guns and leaves angrily. Nikki asks Kate where she found the case. Nikki and Paolo go to the waterfall and Paolo asks if Nikki would be with him if not for the bag. Nikki only says that it's worth eight million dollars and he should dive in since she had to seduce Howard. Paolo sees the bag but tells Nikki he only sees dead people.
SPEAKER_01You cracked yourself up over that one.
SPEAKER_05She leaves and he dives under again. I couldn't help it. Day 49. Paolo nervously takes the nicotine gum out of his luggage bag and starts to dig a hole on the beach when Locke discovers him. Locke suggests he find a more secure place for whatever he's hiding, stating things don't stay buried on this island. Locke clarifies the statement by saying that the beach will erode. Paolo enters the pearl where one monitor is on, showing static. He hides the nesting doll in the toilet. He hears a noise and peeks through the bathroom door. Ben and Juliet enter, thinking the door was left open by Tom. Ben tells Juliet to have Tom cover the hatch with the plane. They tune the monitor station to the Swan video feed, which displays Jack. Upon seeing him, Juliet asks, Is that is that him, Shepard? He's hot. Ben says he will recruit Jack by exploiting his emotional investments. Juliet asks if this means that they'll grab Ford and Austin too. Ben replies that they'll get Michael to bring them to the others. They leave, Ben commanding Juliet to tell Tom to cover up the station with the plane. And Paolo finds they're walkie. Day 72. Locke invites the survivors to the Pearl Station, and Nikki and Paolo tag along. While the rest are investigating the video feeds, Paolo pretends to need to use the restroom. He retrieves the doll, breaks it, revealing that there's a small pouch, and hides the pouch in his underwear. So Paolo wasn't taking a shit.
SPEAKER_01Um, no one thought, like, how did you know that was a bathroom? But like as far as they know, this is the only this is the first time he's been there.
SPEAKER_05Well, yeah, and even the first time that he went to hide them there, like how did he know he was gonna find a place?
SPEAKER_01I can I can kind of get the okay, let me see what I can find, where I can find a place to hide it. I can get that. Like he came across it, but the fact that he just I don't know, kind of I feel like he went straight to the bathroom. They don't show it, but I kind of feel like that happened and no one thought about right.
SPEAKER_05Like how does he know?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05Like he just walks past like the fact that there's electronic equipment on a deserted island.
SPEAKER_01Right, that not like that you don't find that amazing. You just go to this I don't know, right? It was weird.
SPEAKER_05Like, ooh, toilet. Lumming. Um day 81. Nikki tells Paulo that she is sad that Thanksgiving passed two weeks ago without them realizing it. She's worried that they will never be rescued. But Paolo comforts her. He tells her he is glad they didn't find the bag because it might have torn them apart. He leaves to get them breakfast, and Nikki finds his nicotine gum in the sand. Nikki finds Sawyer and demands he give her a gun. He refuses, saying that she is so agitated that no good can come of it. Actually, I think he tells her to go stick her head in the ocean.
SPEAKER_01That shit was funny. But I think by this point in the episode, Sawyer has said like two or three times, Who the fuck are like who the fuck is Nikki? Like, who are who is this? And that's not the first time because the other episode said it two other times in other episodes.
SPEAKER_00Like, who the fuck is Nikki?
SPEAKER_05Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's what everyone is thinking. Like, who the fuck are these people?
SPEAKER_05He says he doesn't have the guns anymore and wouldn't give one to her if he did, as Desmond watches. He yells, and who the hell are you as she leaves? Nikki brings Paolo into the jungle and confronts him about having the diamonds. He feigns ignorance, but she shows him the gun. The gum. Sorry, not the gun. She takes out one of Dr. R's specimen jars, also known as a peanut butter jar, and opens it. She flings the Medusa spider at Paolo. It's like is that like assault with a deadly deadly insect insect?
SPEAKER_01Arachnid? Assault with the deadly arachnid.
SPEAKER_05Um I don't know. I wouldn't want anybody to throw a spider at me, even if it can't paralyze me. It lands on his neck and bites him. He kills it and it remains stuck to his hand. She tells him that it's called the Medusa spider because it paralyzes the victim for around eight hours and slows the heart. Paolo collapses and can't move. Nikki coolly begins to search him for the diamonds, at first guessing that they are hidden in his shoe. Like, who the fuck is gonna hide diamonds in their shoe?
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be a little painful.
SPEAKER_05Mm-hmm. She takes off his shoe and throws it into a tree. And plus, if you really think that he's hiding diamonds in his shoe, you know he's got another one. Like, oh, he didn't have him in this shoe. Guess he can't have them in the other one. Oh, okay. She opens his pants and finds the pouch in his underwear. Paolo tells her he took the diamonds because he was afraid of losing her if she found the diamonds and didn't need him anymore. That was really sad, actually.
SPEAKER_01You're on the fucking island. Where you where you gotta go. You're gonna lose anything. She ain't going nowhere.
SPEAKER_05But like, I think that he was telling the truth.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I believe him, but at the same time, like where's she gonna go?
SPEAKER_05Well, but okay. Well, we know where she's gonna go.
SPEAKER_01True.
SPEAKER_05The clicking sounds of the monster are heard in the distance, and Nikki is distracted as many Medusa spiders, attracted by the scent of the smashed female spider, march toward the pair. Nikki is bitten by one and she runs away. She stops suddenly and digs a hole, burying something, then continues running. On the beach, Sawyer and Hurley are playing ping pong when Nikki staggers towards them and collapses. Hugo asks her what happened, and she says something hard to understand like pa lays. Sawyer tells Hurley to get up and peers into the jungle for possible dangers. But Hurley tells him Nikki is dead, and Sawyer asks who Nikki is. Sawyer, Hurley, Jin son, and Charlie examine the body but can't determine the cause of death. Son suggests she might have been poisoned and they should check the food. Charlie discovers dirt under her fingernails, and Sawyer thinks she said plywood, but Hurley suggests power lines and then. Then he exclaims, Paolo lies. Sawyer proposes they investigate Paolo. Sawyer, Jin, and Hurley find Paolo's still body lying on the jungle floor. His pants are undone and his shoe is in a tree. Sawyer looks into the jungle but claims not to see anything. Jin takes a water bottle out of Paulo's bag, but Sawyer takes it away and empties it in case it's poisoned. Hurley accuses Sawyer of contaminating the crime scene. I like Sawyer's like, what is there like a forensic hatch we don't know about?
SPEAKER_00Jungle CSI.
SPEAKER_05CSI jungle. Um suggests it was the monster. Hurley, Jin and Sawyer bring Paolo's body to the graveyard. Hurley says the monster must be responsible because Paulo and Nikki were with Echo when he said, You're next. Sawyer disputes the saying. He thinks Echo meant we're all next, and Hurley berates Sawyer for referring to Nikki and Paulo as Nina and Pablo. Sawyer searches through Nikki and Paolo's tent while Hurley tells him to be careful. He's like, but they don't live here anymore.
SPEAKER_00Seriously.
SPEAKER_05Charlie reports that son checked the food and no one else is sick. They see the bugs and Charlie remembers them as arts. They theorize that Nikki and Paolo were his friends. Charlie finds Nikki's expose script. Hurley professes being a big fan of the show and discovers Nikki's name on the cast listing. He is shocked to discover that Mr. Lachade was a cobra.
SPEAKER_01That was funny.
SPEAKER_05Sawyer discovers Milwaukee and tells him it's exactly the same one as the others carry on their belts. And he accuses of Nick and he accuses Nikki and Paulo of working with the others. The group discusses the situation at the graveyard. Hurley asks Sawyer how Nikki and Paolo could have been working with the others, and Sawyer reminds him of what Michael did. Hurley says they are too far away, but son counters that they grabbed her right in the camp. Sawyer offers to make a perimeter sweep, taking out a gun, which Hurley questions him about. Charlie and Son cover the bodies. Hurley finds Desmond and asks if he can use his psychic powers to find out what happened. But Desmond says he only sees flashes. He suggests asking Sawyer, whom he saw Nikki arguing with earlier in the day, right before she died. I like when he goes up to Desmond and he's like, um, that they died and he's like, yeah, tragic. Desmond's just so like, yeah, and you find this entire episode hysterical.
SPEAKER_01I feel like it is like a comedy of errors.
SPEAKER_05Isn't you just like Desmond, he's like eating his mango. He's like, Aye, tragic. Next.
SPEAKER_01I kind of get like his eye, like, okay, another person died, okay.
SPEAKER_05Um, Vincent uncovers the bodies. It should have been a clue. Hurley discusses his findings about Sawyer with Charlie and Son. Sun defends Sawyer and accuses the others. Hurley leaves to get Desmond, and Charlie confesses to Son that he was the one that bagged her head and dragged her into the jungle. But not before he makes sure he tells her that it was Sawyer's idea. Later, when they all regroup at the grave, that was like a tongue twister.
SPEAKER_01Say it again three times fast.
SPEAKER_05Hurley asks Sawyer for the gum and tells him he knows about the argument with Nikki. He asks if Sawyer killed her, but Sawyer insists he didn't. He tells them he kept it a secret because he deduced from the dirt under Nikki's nails that she must have been hiding something important. He shows them the pouch and throws it to Sun. She opens it to reveal the diamonds. Sawyer tells her to keep them, says he had nothing to do with the deaths, and walks away. Sun finds Sawyer and confronts him about what Charlie revealed. She returns the diamonds to him, pointing out that they have no value here, and slaps him. Well, actually, he asks if she's gonna tell Jen, and she's like, no, because then he's gonna have to dig into the grave. Fucking son, she's so badass.
SPEAKER_01Isn't she? She's like a subtle badass. Mm-hmm. The best kind.
SPEAKER_05Later, the group gathers around the grave for a funeral, and Hurley delivers a eulogy. He says, although it appears they killed each other over diamonds, they were nice to him, and he liked Expose and they were part of the camp. Sawyer scatters the diamonds in their grave. The group starts to bury Nikki and Paolo. Just as the sand covers their faces, the poison starts to wear off and Nikki's eyes open suddenly. But Sawyer and Hurley do not see. Nikki and Paolo are both buried alive. It is then clear that Nikki actually said paralyzed before she collapsed on the beach. And thus Hurley and Sawyer are actually indeed murderers.
SPEAKER_00Murderers.
SPEAKER_05I I I I just really appreciate this episode.
SPEAKER_01Like it was this really was kind of dog twisting and funny of the show. I appreciate it completely.
SPEAKER_05So one kind of a way to get rid of them.
SPEAKER_01When she was talking to him about the spider, she threw it on him. That's what the like I was like, damn.
SPEAKER_05And did you think that she was dead from the beginning?
SPEAKER_01Okay, so when she first kind of like passed out, I'm like, doesn't seem real. Like I thought she was a scam, I thought it was like a scam. And I felt like it was like a something was not right with her her death. It seemed anyway. And then you get to her flashback. I'm like, okay. And then Paulo's there. I'm like, okay, they're working a they're working a con. And I'm like, oh wait, they are. Um so wait, they are what? Working a con. Yeah, because soon she's having dinner or lunch, and then it's some follow up. I'm like, okay. But then I'm like, oh well, damn, maybe they really are dead. I'm like, damn, that's kind of fucked up. But the thing is, but something was still like nagging at me because the way she kind of I was like, something doesn't feel like they they kept showing them. Right. Yeah, that's I think that's what it was. Something subconscious, they're like, this doesn't feel right.
SPEAKER_05Right. Like when somebody dies, they don't keep showing them.
SPEAKER_01Them. They're like weird, like uncovered, they kept being uncovered. It was just really I think that's what it was. That's what was nagging at me. And then when she told him about how he could be paralyzed, I was like, oh well now, that's unfortunate.
SPEAKER_05Let's do trivia. When Nikki throws a spider on Paolo, the chitter noises of the monster can be heard as a large group of spiders appear and bite Nikki. After much speculation, these noises and the subsequent spiders were confirmed to have been the work of the monster, according to the official Lost Podcast.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_05So the monster did it. It was the monster. It was the monster. Even though they are the featured characters of the episode, the only dialogue that Nikki and Paolo have is in their flashbacks. Accepting Nikki.
SPEAKER_01Nikki said saying paralyzed.
SPEAKER_05Expose is French for exposed. In colloquial English, it means a revelation or exposure, often revealed in the print or news media. The slateboard shown at the beginning of the episode informs viewers that the fictional season finale episode of Expose was directed by Stephen Williams, who was actually who actually directed this episode of Lost as well. Billy D. Williams plays Mr. Lachade, who turns out to be the show's main villain, the Cobra, in the fictional expose, and also appears as himself as oh my god, as himself in this episode. This is the first episode to feature flashbacks of events already show within already shown within the episode itself. Carlton and Damon, who are the creators of the show, said that this episode, along with Across the Sea, is one of the most polarizing episodes throughout the series. Before the main title screen, Sawyer says, Who the hell is Nikki? And later asks, Who the hell is Paolo? Perhaps a reference to fan dis to fan discussion surrounding the introduction of these characters.
SPEAKER_01And that's the second time you said that.
SPEAKER_05I'm telling you, the whole episode was like a troll.
SPEAKER_01It was no, I it the really it truly was.
SPEAKER_05And I think I know you said that last week, but it was I was like, oh yeah, this is wait, the plane, wait, the hatch, wait, what while leaving the set for her last episode of Expose, the director offers to retcon Nikki's character back into the plot. Nikki foreshadows her own fate on the island by replying, thanks, but I'm only a guest star. And we all know what happens to guest stars. Yeah, that's true. When Nikki sees Boone and Shannon fighting at the airport, she says to Paolo, Promise me we won't end up like them.
SPEAKER_00And they do.
SPEAKER_05Both couples end up dead and buried side by side on the island.
SPEAKER_00That's so funny. That is hysterical.
SPEAKER_05Curly reading the expose script and his shock at finding out Mr. Lachad is the Copra after four seasons, is an example of uh Miss and Abim. Uh I don't know French, so I'm uh again, I'm sorry if I butcher that. It's a this it's a depiction of the slow-moving but shocking nature of the show within the show itself.
SPEAKER_01I just took it as I mean, you're a deserted on the island, and I fear I find that that's some kind of like closure for a show for you. Like, whatever happened with so-and-so, and like, oh shit, it's a script. Oh wow, okay. Like, I feel like I'd be some kind of like you guys crash on a weird ass planet on a weird ass island. So, you know what? Here's a little something. Here's how here's what happened with the show.
SPEAKER_05I I read somewhere that like there was another scene where they wanted to have Nikki find Shannon's asthma inhaler and then like just throw it away.
SPEAKER_01That would have been kind of kind of yeah, because what what happened to him?
SPEAKER_05Well, kind more fucked up, you mean they found a hatch, you don't tell anybody. They Paolo overhears a kidnapping plot, doesn't say anything, anything.
SPEAKER_01They really are assholes. There's a reason that no one knows them, like and the one that didn't know their name died in the first season. I feel like that you really are pieces of shit. Like they're like the they were probably the biggest pieces of shit.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh. The characters, and that's why I say, like, the you know, the writers are like, here, this is this is for the fans. Like, we're just gonna get rid of them and have fun and just yeah, and you're not gonna feel bad about it.
SPEAKER_00Not at all.
SPEAKER_05No, and Mr. Lashad, after four seasons finding out that he was the cobra all along, it's kind of like a hint to season four.
SPEAKER_01So we're gonna find out in season four that Jack was the cobra of this island all along.
SPEAKER_04Absolutely, yes. You got it, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I I feel like for some reason, I I still feel like what you call it's girlfriend's father, the rich guy, the whole head of the interest. What's my oh uh Woodmore, Charles Woodmore? Yes, Woodmore. I feel he's this that he is the head of the cobra. I feel like this is all his, I feel like this is his his little what's just this thing called the experiment that Ben and his peeps are on. I feel like he hasn't the fact that we know that we don't know, but we know that Penny was looking for this island. He's looking for uh so like we don't know no, but we know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_05I don't know, right? We know because we saw um we saw the guys in the Arctic saying we saw the anomaly after the hatch.
SPEAKER_01So we know, but like I said, we know, we don't know, no, but you know, but we know, but they don't know that we know that they know that we know exactly. I got that. That's so weird. Um, so I feel like for her to even be looking for this island or an anonymous, I feel like her her father is the cobra.
unknownShh.
SPEAKER_05On day 49 is when Paolo overheard Ben say that he would use Michael to lure Jack K and Sawyer to him, and that's the same date that Michael first made contact with Walt on the computer. I don't want to say like side note, but like side note. We don't really like move the plot forward except for like getting rid of them.
SPEAKER_01Right, which is fine. I'm okay with it.
SPEAKER_05But Sun now knows that it was Charlie and Sawyer behind her kidnapping. So that's the only little like you know, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I'm okay with like I said, I think this episode was one of my favorites because it had nothing to do with the show, you know what I mean? It had nothing to do with what you know. Yes, I was like, yeah, I like you.
SPEAKER_05Let's talk about no can we talk about the giant overall theme?
SPEAKER_01They weren't dead the whole time, I know I think that was the funniest part.
SPEAKER_05Like interesting, Nikki, Nikki and Paolo each dug a hole throughout the episode, and then they ended up in one. Okay, and maybe I'm reaching here, but you know, I have session with Prince. So they say the pride of St. Paul when they're introducing Nikki, right? Now, Prince is from Minneapolis, but like it's like you could throw a rock from from Minneapolis to St. Paul. Her name is Corvette in the her name is Nikki, like his song Darling Nikki.
SPEAKER_01So do you think this was intentional?
SPEAKER_05And Billy D. Williams is wearing a purple hat.
SPEAKER_01Okay, that is a lot of I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_05I mean, I know sometimes, like, what it what's the expression when you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_05So, but I don't care, I'll be a hammer time a time. I was like, I just felt like I got a very, you know, prince vibe.
SPEAKER_01You've been blessed and you have you been baptized and late minataka. How did you pronounce it?
SPEAKER_05Wow, hold on, you just screwed me up. What mina minatonka?
SPEAKER_00Minutonka.
SPEAKER_05I was I couldn't I couldn't hear anything but you. It you know when that happens, like when you can say it but then you can't because somebody else said something. Yes, yeah, yes, minutonka.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you've been baptized in Lake Minatonka.
SPEAKER_05I wish I was. You wanna go? We could go. Yeah, come over.
SPEAKER_01Meet me and we'll just drive the rust.
SPEAKER_05Sure. We'll just we'll have to go in like that one day in September when it's not frozen, right?
SPEAKER_01But you know that but you I've got to tell you, I don't know. This is not really black people friendly, as we can tell lately. Well, I'm going to hell.
SPEAKER_05This is the United States, isn't it?
SPEAKER_01No words black friendly.
SPEAKER_05I'm sorry. Okay. Anyway. So that's the end of this episode. But that was fun, and I'm I'm glad that you enjoyed it.
SPEAKER_01Can we have all of them like that, please?
SPEAKER_05Well, no, because then there's no like story going forward. Fine. The next episode is called Left Behind. And I'm pretty sure it's a Kate episode. Any hopes for next episode? Any thoughts on Kate?
SPEAKER_01Nope. I I I I am going to this with no hopes, no dreams, no aspirations. So I'm not disappointed when they don't tell me shit.
SPEAKER_05Okay, Toki. Yeah, we got only a few more for the third season. So we're almost done with that. And then, you know, season four, we find out that uh who the cobra is, or maybe I'm just fucking with you, but whatever. Too late. I know you're not fucking with me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I could tell you're I know your tail.
SPEAKER_05Maybe it's Hurley.
SPEAKER_01I can't even dignify that with a response. You're gonna eyebrow.
SPEAKER_04It's it's um, hold on. It's Vincent. It's definitely Vincent.
SPEAKER_01Listen, not the dog. Listen, you cannot disparage a dog, like unacceptable, Lisa. I gotta re-evaluate that.
SPEAKER_05Disparage, it's badass. It's like it's like if Dr. Dr. Claw had a cat, fucking Vince is Dr. Claw.
SPEAKER_01Like what is wait, what is the dog's name on Bush's baked beans? Oh, I don't know. He has a name. Oh, Duke. Duke, Duke. So Duke and Vincent.
SPEAKER_05I didn't know he had a name, and then I knew the name.
SPEAKER_01Idiots of fun over here. Or just the idiot part. I don't know. But um, yes, we never know. Vincent and Duke, maybe cahoots know each other? I think so.
SPEAKER_05Maybe they set this whole thing up.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it's Penny's dog, like Spencer Gadget. Penny's little girl.
SPEAKER_05Brain. Yeah, see, brain. Okay, but it's a cartoon. Of course I remembered that.
SPEAKER_01But I think we should need to find correlation between expensive gadget and lost.
SPEAKER_05We're on to something here. I think we are. I need to I think I think we gotta explore this more.
SPEAKER_01Well, I the only thing we're on is some drugs, I think.
SPEAKER_05It's called alcohol, and I love it.
SPEAKER_01Tons and tons and tons of it. We drink responsibly at home in bed.
SPEAKER_05We do, or in my case, in my daughter's room.
SPEAKER_00You know why that sounds, right?
SPEAKER_05Well, she's not in it. Okay, then put that down a disclaimer. No, I'm just using her room, she's not in it.
SPEAKER_00You go back to the edits, like, oh, okay, that didn't sound so good. That didn't sound so good.

SPEAKER_01Don't worry, I didn't forget.
SPEAKER_05She forgot this week, but she'll remember again next week.
SPEAKER_01No, I didn't forget. I was just giving it. It was it was nice to me, so I was nice to it. Are we in season six yet?
SPEAKER_05Almost. We're so close.
SPEAKER_01Well, you I know she was saying that since the first episode.
SPEAKER_05I'm like, shut up. I really thought you were actually gonna like it like a normal human being.
SPEAKER_01I realized I won't be able to. The woman who's says the woman who's never seen the godfather says the woman who's never seen the good fellas, says the woman who's never seen any classic movie.
SPEAKER_05Says the woman who's never seen Star Wars. I saw I think I have the people on my side here.
SPEAKER_01You've never seen a few good men. Okay.
SPEAKER_05Actually, no. I I saw one of those. Wait a minute. It wasn't The Godfather. I saw Good Fellas.
SPEAKER_01You saw Good Fellas, okay. But you didn't see The Godfather or a few good men. I'm like, who does not one classic, but the I saw one classic.
SPEAKER_03I didn't see all the classics.
SPEAKER_011001 billion. All right. We could go through the list of like classic movies that everyone has seen, and then I'm gonna see if you've seen them. Weird window. Okay, birds.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I've seen that. Okay, because I'm about to say click. All right, come on, give me another.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I think we should I think we could do a whole fucking episode. I think we could people have to call in. Everyone needs to call in and give us a list of movies to see if we've seen them. I think that'd be good. Like, give us a list of movies, yes, and how many weeks actually seen each of us.
SPEAKER_04That would be fun.
SPEAKER_01To be fair, Lisa probably has a life.
SPEAKER_05Probably not. I mean I mean, I'm I'm home. But you know what? We put it on for my mom, she had never seen it, also, and she sat there worrying that we were gonna make her watch a horror movie. And we were like, the seven-year-old is watching it too. Chill.
SPEAKER_01You'd be all right. I mean, you guys put it on and I was still like, yeah, can't, yeah, sorry, not yeah, not doing it for me. I sang you the songs. Oh my god, that entire car ride.
SPEAKER_05I was like, I'm so good.
SPEAKER_00Earn those bagels. I just you do.
SPEAKER_05I know you put up with me for all these years. You definitely do.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_05I try. But yeah, if you have movie recommendations that we should probably see, or probably should be embarrassed if we haven't send them because I'll probably be the one that's embarrassed that I haven't.
SPEAKER_01But I have a feeling there'll be like one movie like that the whole world has seen, and I haven't.
SPEAKER_05That one movie that you mean like the show Lost, like the whole world has seen it and loved it except you. I guess that doesn't count.
SPEAKER_01That doesn't count. Okay, okay, okay. I'm watching it now.
SPEAKER_05You're watching it now. That's all that matters. And you're doing a great job. Keep it up. I'm sorry, I love you.
SPEAKER_01I so appreciate your your sarcasm. I love you.
SPEAKER_05I would give you a ribbon if I could.
SPEAKER_01Reluctant lost watch. And as we say, she's Lisa.
SPEAKER_05Yes, and she's Agnes. And we are out of here. We got our name right again.
unknownYou help.
SPEAKER_00It's shake it baby.
SPEAKER_01Let me see if I can go through a list. The words are like classic. What's the word I'm looking for? Like movies, like no, classic is a good word. Like iconic. Iconic. Okay. I feel like sometimes like if I put classic, they just give me like old black and white movies, which are pretty awesome. You've seen Classablanca, right?
SPEAKER_05No, I have not.
SPEAKER_01I wanna cry. Okay, let's see. What else can I think of?
SPEAKER_05Before we move on to our next show, maybe we should just have me watch like a movie that I've never seen, so you can just stop making me feel so bad about it. Pulp fiction? Yes, I've seen Pulp Fiction. I love Pulp Fiction.
SPEAKER_01Bonnie and Clyde.
SPEAKER_05No, but it's Tarantino. I like Tarantino. You know, in real life, the bad motherfucker wallet, that's the wallet that he uses.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because he used to come into my Starbucks.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really?
SPEAKER_05Yeah. He was okay. He was he was like drunk one night and there was um ATM because we shared a wall with the bank, so they had the right the ATM, and he was so drunk trying to get out his money he thought he won.
SPEAKER_01Alright, Braveheart.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I've seen it. It it it's not my thing though.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was really good. I love that. Seven?
SPEAKER_05Yes. Okay. But like, but like when it came out, so I don't really like remember it very well.
SPEAKER_01Okay, okay. Let me see if I get some old something a little bit older. Let's see. You see Avatar? No. Oh, but I know we see West Side Story. Next. I really thought you saw that one.
SPEAKER_05I I it's the Jets and the Sharks. Don't I know enough. They dance with knives and they solve their problems by dancing. That's that's the movie, right? Um The Professional. Never even heard of it.
SPEAKER_01When Natalie Port me is your little girl and uh Jean Ru okay.
SPEAKER_05Never even heard of it.
SPEAKER_01The French connection.
SPEAKER_05Nope.
