SPEAKER_00

Hi, and welcome to today's episode of Sassin Sips. Today we're gonna talk about Lost Season Five, episode 15. Follow the leader.

SPEAKER_01

Thank God we're that much close to the end of the series.

SPEAKER_00

Oh shosh. I am Lisa and I am sipping on some red wine sangria today.

SPEAKER_01

I like a I like a little sangria. I've been a little not behaving myself with the wine lately.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh, do you tell?

SPEAKER_01

No well, you know, it's been stressful. So I've been eating like ice cream and wine for dinner like every night for the past week. Um I'm Agnes and I'm drinking my Kalua coffee, but it's iced today. Yeah. I you know, like Olivia Pope does like popcorn and red wine. I've been doing uh red wine and I've been doing like wine and ice cream. That works. Yeah, like I come in the house, I pour the wine, take it upstairs, drink it as I'm getting ready for bed. Once I'm ready to like settle in, I bring up the pint of ice cream.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I I suggest it. It's five stars. I think everyone should do it. Hot takes on this episode. My god, I watched it a whole 24 hours ago. Supposed to me to remember. Um gosh.

SPEAKER_00

So this is this is considered like a Richard episode, but it's not like we really see anything that we haven't seen before, so to speak, about his past.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It's not a Richard episode. And did it give me any? I mean, did it explain how he knew to doing one of the jumps? Great, yay. Right, right. Which is cute. I thought that was it maybe I was like, oh, that's cute. Locksay himself.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but we don't have we don't have any idea, right? How he's gonna island, why he's an age, nothing.

SPEAKER_01

We know nothing, and I have a feeling we never will. I think it's one of those things that doesn't get answered. Richard just is um any hot takes? Do I have any hot takes? Um, no. That I think of. I probably remember them as we're discussing it.

SPEAKER_00

And I just threw up random hot take. All right, let's go back to 1977. No, and when I was editing the last episode, I said 77, not 67. I was I was I did catch a mistake because I realized that I said either I meant to say Daniel and I said Desmond, or I meant to say Desmond and I said Daniel. I did catch that mistake, but it wasn't yeah, but I did say the year right.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I heard incorrectly. My head was 5067.

SPEAKER_00

I was I did make a mistake, it just wasn't that one. That one.

SPEAKER_01

I see, I see it's like when you're a kid, like you get punished, you can do anything, like oh you well, it did something I didn't know about, so I'm sure you deserve it for one reason or another, right? I mean, our parents weren't wrong because it was something was a shitload of things that we didn't get caught doing, and even as an adult, I wouldn't go back to I wouldn't tell her. I'm like, didn't you tell me? She's like, come on, you can tell me now. I'm like, nope, I know not, I know not what you speak. She was like, I don't believe that.

SPEAKER_00

There are a couple things a lot of things. Oh, there was a coup a lot of things that did tell me. You tell your mother a lot of things because I remember one day going to your house and your mother said something to me, and I was like, What? How do you know about that? Like, she caught me off guard, and I'm like, there's only one way you knew about that, Agnes. Fucking big mouth. I don't remember what it was. What was it? I don't I don't remember, but it was like a secret that I had told. I told I told you, and you told her, and she was like, Oh, I don't know about that. I was like, oh, okay. And I was like, I was like blushing. I don't remember I don't remember what it was, but I remember she caught me so off guard. I mean, okay, I all right, it was definitely something like sexual. Oh and and yeah, I don't remember what it was, but she says something. I was like, oh shh, like okay, we did we did talk a lot about that stuff, and like yeah, like her remember.

SPEAKER_01

So I think it might have come up like you know, things that she's done, things that I've done, things that I've like, oh her so much one did this. I don't remember apparently things your friends have done. Sorry, okay, to be fair, okay. So, you know my thought process on like spouses. I when I tell you something, I know for a fact, or put for this way, I assume and I'm okay with it, that you're gonna tell Alex because you guys are one. If you don't, you don't. If you do, I'm okay with it because you guys are one. I'm okay, I don't share anything with you that I'm ashamed of anyway. Um, or one of the things I am ashamed of, I don't care, but you know what I mean. So it comes with spouses, I'm like, yeah, you guys are one. If I'm telling one, I'm telling the other one. I don't have a spouse, a significant other, or anything. I have my mom and my cat. So she was, yeah, she was my she was my my my plus one in life. So yeah. If you told me anything, everybody anybody has told me anything, odds are I told my mother, unless I forgot, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I knew from then on.

SPEAKER_01

So oh kind of not.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, not that she like judged or you know, it was your friend's moment it was just the moment that it it caught right, that it just caught me off guard when she called me on something, and I'm just like, oh what? Whoops.

SPEAKER_01

Did she have the opportunity to share? Oh, because if you know anything that if you knew even a fourth of the shit that she went through, you were like, Oh, yeah, this is no, she her knowing this is nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Because if you even knew a fourth of her shit, and that's I mean, I know secondhand, I don't like I never heard it from her. Okay, and those conversations offline.

SPEAKER_01

You guys don't know privy to that stuff. Wait till my book comes out.

SPEAKER_00

Let me let me just I'll just say it like this. We are not allowed to discuss this because Agnes's mother was gangster, like just she was like DL, you know, like gangster. Like you didn't expect it. But yeah, her mother and honestly, her mother knows some shit, does some shit.

SPEAKER_01

What did you say? I can't go too many secrets because when the book comes out, I didn't give out any secrets. No, I'm just saying I would love to. I'm like, you know, I would love to. Like you guys, yeah, you guys just have to wait till the book comes out because you know, it's gonna be juicy.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, is that that the police could do now, but because everyone's dead at this point.

SPEAKER_01

I think everyone, like but you know, everyone. I think she was wait, holy shit. She was like the last of the no, there might be one or two, but for the most yeah, for the most part, everyone's dead or on their way. So it's all good in the hood.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we don't need anybody to come knocking on your door, so oh let's talk about lost in 1977. Okay, okay, it picks up where the last episode kind of left off. The last episode left off as Daniel Faraday gets killed by his mother.

SPEAKER_01

How the fuck did I forget, like in a matter of, like I said, I just saw the episode 24 hours ago, and I'm like, where did it start off at?

SPEAKER_00

So we see it from Jack and Kate's perspective. They're hiding behind the bushes and they're like talking about what their options are. Then they hear the gunshot, Daniel's down, but before they can run away, two men come. One hits Jack in the face with the rifle, and the other one is like Yeah, right. At Kate. Anyway, at camp, Eloise is thumbing through the pages of Daniel's journal, and she sees the dedication and she's like, This is my handwriting, but I don't remember writing it.

SPEAKER_01

Like, actually, how could that be?

SPEAKER_00

Right. So she wants to know if Jack and Kate have come with Daniel, and Jack is like, yep. So she's like, cool, bring them to my tent. Widmore is like, but why is the Dharma initiative declaring war? And Eloise is like, they're not from Dharma. I'm like, this is dude, this is not Dharma.

SPEAKER_01

Far from it.

SPEAKER_00

Jack tells Kate that he means to reset their lives, having the plane, having the plane never crash, and avoiding, you know, everything that's happened since. Kate is like, it's not all bad, but she doesn't really say anything else.

SPEAKER_01

I like the part when her name is Ellie, right? Eleanor L. Eloise. Eloise. She goes, does he know what he's talking about? And Kate goes, he thinks he does.

SPEAKER_00

That's on brand for Jack. Well, they're in the tent, Eloise assures Jack and Kate that she's gonna believe whatever they say because she has just killed a man who claims to be her future son, but is also the same man who told her to bury the bomb 23 years earlier before disappearing right in front of her. So I think at this point she's like, I mean, yeah. What else?

SPEAKER_01

So here's another thing. So 23 She says she was 17 when he came to tell her that, and it was 23 years. I feel like she's not as old. She doesn't look the character isn't as old as 23. That means she's 40 now. Yeah, I know that she's the character's not older. And if she would have said, and then she obviously she hadn't had is Daniel been born yet? Like, you know, she so I feel like it should have been like 13 years ago.

SPEAKER_00

Because it was 1954, right? But they they it this so it has to be 23 years, so it has to be, but you're right, it just doesn't the age that she's not 40 in this, she's definitely not 40.

SPEAKER_01

Don't know if Dan, and if she is 40, no, sh it doesn't add up. No, right, it looks like I mean it was like oops, goof. It was a it was definitely a plot, what's it called? Plot hole, like they messed up with the yeah, they had the wrong actress.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, like a like a continuity error.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that's what I wanted to say. Yeah, I caught something.

SPEAKER_00

You did no, you it took five. I didn't really think about it like that, but you're right. I mean, if you would have said she's like 30, maybe even 35, I could kind of buy it. Only because, you know, like the island and the the properties of the island and the fact that she doesn't seem to have kids yet. And then when you see Daniel in his flashback, one of the first ones where he's playing piano, she still looks so young.

SPEAKER_01

Right. So, unless she didn't start aging till she got off the island.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but that would have been off the island. That scene with him playing the piano, and how old was he, like 10?

SPEAKER_01

Right, but maybe she's like she stayed looking young until she got off the and then she slowly started aging, not like age overnight, but right because but if he's but if he's like 10 years old in that scene, then that would make her at least 50.

SPEAKER_00

50.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she doesn't even look 50 then like 50 in 2024, yes.

SPEAKER_00

And then totally different 50s, but then but then when he graduates from Oxford, that's like 10, 12 years after that, and she looks like a little old lady. Everything's kind of weird. It's a big it's a big difference from 10-year-old Daniel to 25-year-old Daniel. Yes, which is but then from 17 to 40, you barely changed.

SPEAKER_01

She barely changed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I caught the. Well, actually, actually, no. From s from like 17 to 50, you look the same. And then from 50 to 65, you're like oh well, yeah. Right, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Because I caught a continuity issue. Yay! Yeah. It took long enough because I was actually paying attention. Don't expect anything else from me this year. My brain is out of ideas. Wrong answers only.

SPEAKER_00

We got those at the barracks. Sawyer and Juliet are being interrogated, and Sawyer's being beaten, but Sawyer's not talking, and Phil's like, I know what to do. Wack to Juliet. Sawyer is like, I'm gonna fucking kill you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I have a feeling, like, he's gonna get his cup, and I feel like that character always gets his cup up and he's always little shit. Wherever character he plays in different shows, he's always a little shit. Phil. Oh no, wait. Phil is Phil the dark-haired one that they put in the technical.

SPEAKER_00

Phil is yeah, the dark-haired one that looks like Mark from Love is Blind that was in the closet.

SPEAKER_01

So um, um he like he's he put he's I love him as an actor. He plays great characters, but he always plays little shits. Always like his character is always a little sh like like you just want to you just want to kill him. You're like, he deserves like every like, yep, someone just shoot this, like shoot him, just shoot him. He's definitely been typecast.

SPEAKER_00

So meanwhile, Hurley, Miles, and Jin escape the barracks, they're heading for the beach. Chang follows them and asks if they're really from the future. And Hurley's like, what?

SPEAKER_01

That's the funniest shit I've ever seen. Like, that's why one of the funniest scenes thus far.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh. And so Chang is like, okay, well, what year were you born? And he's like, I forgot what he says, but he's like, So you're 40? And Hurley's like, Yeah. And then he's like, um, okay, who's the president? And he's like, uh, he's like, and so you fought in the Korean War, and he's like, that's not a thing. Right? He was like, that's that's not real. So I forgot what he but like and Chang, he's like, fine, dude, we're from the future. And then he's like, so Miles, is it true? I am your father. And Miles is like, uh say it again like that. Yeah, no, say it again. You're gonna have to listen to the episode.

SPEAKER_01

Miles, I am your father. You said it very like Star Wars-ish. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

I know, I did that on purpose, even though that line is actually like not quite in Star Wars the way people said.

SPEAKER_01

Say it, yeah. But it's it's anyhow. Anyhow.

SPEAKER_00

Chang says that he believes what Daniel told him, and he and he's he's he's gonna plan to evacuate the island. Back at the hostel camp, Widmore and Richard are standing over Daniel's body. Woodmore asks Richard why Daniel looks so familiar to him. But before Richard can answer, Eloise emerges from the tent and orders Richard to untie Jack and Kate. She gently covers Daniel's body with the blanket and closes his eyes. She then announces to Woodmore that she's taking Jack and Kate to the bomb. Woodmore protests and then they argue. Jack asks Richard who that man is, and Richard tells him that it's Charles Whidmore. Richard implies that Eloise and Charles are romantically involved, but their relationship is complicated. I know it's like pre-Facebook, you know, and it's like relationship status, complicated.

SPEAKER_01

Our relationships are complicated. That's good. I feel like it's almost without saying. It's a given. It's a relationship, then it's gonna be complicated.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Chang returns to the barracks, sees Horace Radzinski and the and the other men interrogating Juliet and a bloody and bruised Sawyer. He tells them to stop drilling at the swan and orders them to evacuate the island. Radzinski insists on continuing the drilling, and when Chang appeals to Horace, Radzinski claims that he's in charge now. Sawyer agrees with Chang and proposes a deal to Radzinski. If he and Juliet can leave the island on the sub, he will tell Radzinski everything he wants to know. As a result, he demands that Sawyer draws a map of the hostel's location, and then they're taken away to the sub. Meanwhile, Eloise, Jack, Kate, and Richard and Eric? I don't know. Who the fuck is Eric? I like how these people have names. Like now. Now.

SPEAKER_01

But during the actual airing, they were never acknowledged by these names.

SPEAKER_00

They come to the creek, but they have to they have to stop there because apparently the only way to get to where the bomb is is to swim under the tunnels. Kate's like, nope, not doing it. I'm going back. Mr. I have a name now, Eric, threatens to shoot shoot Kate if she tries to leave. Except, oh, lo and behold, Eric is shot. And who was it? Who could it possibly be? Yep. Good old Said is like Baby Daddy looking like.

SPEAKER_01

But Said's like better looking.

SPEAKER_00

He emerges and then he points his gun at Eloise and Richard. Jack tells Saeed about changing the future, and Saeed is like, I've already done that because I killed Ben. Kate's like, wrong, not so fast. Actually.

SPEAKER_01

I need like a wrong buzzer. Like every time someone thinks they have the answer, and I'm like, Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So okay. Kate leaves the group. And the rest of them get directions to the uh tunnels and you know. At the barracks, a message is playing over the loudspeaker that the sub is gonna leave in 30 minutes. At the dock, the people are boarding the sub while Miles, Hurley, and Jin watch. They see Charlotte and her mother get out of a bus, and they see Laura and baby Miles get out. Laura is arguing with Pierre, resulting in him angrily telling them to leave. And then that's when Miles, adult Miles, realizes that his father had to be harsh to his mother in order to save her life. Miles sees Juliet and Sawyer still handcuffed, brought in the Jeep. Miles is confused, so he hands the binoculars to Hurley, who tells Miles that Sawyer probably has a plan. It's not a bad conclusion, because Sawyer usually has a plan.

SPEAKER_01

Right. He does have a plan. It's just not what you think it is. It's getting the fuck off this island.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. On the dock, Sawyer sarcastically tells her, uh, Juliet, he's like, We'll buy Microsoft and bet on the Cowboys. It's not a bad plan. No, I think it's an amazing plan. It's not gonna help Pearlie or Jen or Miles, but it's not a bad plan. He apologizes to Juliet and says that she was right three years ago, that they should have gotten on the sub. Juliet tells him that she was glad that they stayed behind. Once on the sub, they're handcuffed to the table, and Juliet asks Sawyer what they'll do once they get to Anthony. Ann Arbor and Sawyer's like, um, we're not going to Ann Arbor. They'll be free once they get to the real world. That these people have no jurisdiction over them. Juliet laughs and says she doesn't know what that means anymore. They hold hands and say they love each other.

SPEAKER_01

She's right. Like, I don't know what any of this means anymore because common sense is not common anymore.

SPEAKER_00

I know. Before the hatch door can close, Phil brings Kate to the sub where she is cuffed with Sawyer and Juliet. I feel each other.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's a good thing to Juliet at this point. Like, this one I thought was rid of her. Here she comes again.

SPEAKER_00

But you know what though? I feel bad for Sawyer. And only because Kate was his past and Juliet was like his future. And he hasn't. Like, I think that it took him a lot to get over her. And then he was over her. He was with Juliet. And now here she comes back in his life. She's probably stirring up feelings that he has. But he wants to be with Juliet. But here comes Kate like a fucking wrench in the plan, a cog in the machine. And I feel bad because he's he's really trying to be present for Juliet, and here comes his past, literally just keeps walking him up. Yeah. When she I mean, I feel bad for Juliet too. But Juliet is not the one who has these like underlying feelings.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so they all have feelings involved, but they're different. He has the underlying, I thought I hit closure, and she has this. What does this mean? Like, we spent three years with this man, built a life together, and is it in danger now? Like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Right, and like, you know, obviously, I'm not gonna speak on the future. Um, but but Sawyer has still been devoted to Juliet.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, and he needs to keep it that way, damn it. So all I have to say about it. But the last episode, it was the two episodes ago, it's when he called her freckles, Juliet was like that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was the last episode. Juliette's like, all right, I see you. I caught that, but alright. Yep, and that's it. The sub that's it. Sub is closed, locked, sub is subbing. Richard, Jack, and Eloise swim down the underground tunnels beneath the barracks where the bomb is hidden. And then lo and behold, Sayyid follows them. Did you think he was gonna follow? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like Yeah. They were gonna bring him back for 30 seconds. Like he hasn't been on episodes for a couple of show episodes now. Yeah. So they were gonna bring him back for 30 seconds. So yeah, I knew he was.

SPEAKER_00

As they walk through the tunnels, Saeed whispers to Jack, I'm sure it's occurred to you that this woman's motivation in helping us detonate the hydrogen bomb is only to annihilate the Dharma initiative. Jack responds that her motivation can be trusted because Eloise will be the one to tell them how to get back to the island 30 years from now. Because I guess Said, remember, Saeed wasn't in the church. Right. Right? He didn't go, so he doesn't know her from the future. Sure.

SPEAKER_01

Or his past of the future. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, so he's like, she's just gonna kill everyone. But she's obviously still alive later, so and she gets them back and we can do this. There's at least one survivor. They come to the room and Eloise uncovers the bomb. She looks at the other two and is like, okay, now what? Everyone is just confused. In 2007, at the other's camp, Richard is sitting at a table building a ship and a bottle on the beach. Another Vanessa informs Richard that he's here. Locke arrives with a boar, followed by Ben and Son. Richard questions that it's been three years since he last saw him and wonders where he's been and comments there's something different about Locke. Locke tells Richard that he has a new purpose and needs Richard to come with him immediately. After Ben tells Son that Richard's been around for a very long time, Son interrupts Locke and Richard with the picture of the nineteen seventy seven Dharma recruits. She asks Richard if he recognizes the people in it, and Richard says he does because he watched them all die. Later, in a private conversation with Son, Locke implies that he believes their time traveling friends are not dead. Locke asks Richard Locke asks Richard if he still has the compass he gave him in 1954, and Richard says he does. He then asks Ben to join him and Richard on the journey. Ben wonders if Locke doesn't trust him around his former people. But Locke informs him that he isn't afraid of anything he can do anymore. He tells Sun to stay behind and that he will be back in a few hours, that she has his word that he will find a way for her and Jin to be reunited. Locke, Richard, and Ben then leave with the compass into the jungle. Oh, he gave you an opening, you didn't take it. During the trip, Richard asks Locke where he has been the past three years, and Locke is surprised that he doesn't know. Locke tells him that they're going to the beech craft where Locke had flashed you during the the island's time movements, but that after that they must find Jacob. When they have almost arrived, Locke tells Richard that he must treat a man's wound at the beechcraft and then tell him to bring everyone back to the island, and to do this he has to die. And they're like, okay. And he's like, and that man is me. While Richard tends to the time traveling Locke, the other Locke tells Ben that he knows that Ben has never seen Jacob, which surprises Ben. Richard then tells Locke that he seems pretty convinced about what he made him do to his past self, especially since he said to him that he was going to die. Loc tells Richard that he did die. The three then return to the camp where Locke makes a speech to all the others present that he is going to see Jacob and would like them all to come with him. Son questions Locke if this man Jacob can help bring Jin and the rest of their people back here, and issured by Locke that he can. And that Richard has agreed to show them where they need to go to see him. The others are excited by this, with the exception of Richard, who expresses his worry to Ben that he's starting to think John Locke is gonna be trouble. Ben responds by saying, Why do you think I try to kill him?

SPEAKER_01

At this point, I kind of have expected Locke to be like Anica, Adica, like the way he's like, come join me and talk to and this have proof of having started like all little others' riot.

SPEAKER_00

But the next morning, Loc and the others leave to find Jacob. Ben then tells Loc of Richard's concerns that seeing Jacob makes him uncomfortable. Ben states that despite their differences in the past, he is here to follow Locke now. And that if he needs Jacob's help to reunite his people who are in 1977, he will do whatever he can. Locke responds, he's not interested in being reunited with his people. They're going to Jacob so he can kill him. What are your thoughts on the whole Richard Locke the leader? This whole kind of time traveling leader, new leader. Who is Jacob?

SPEAKER_01

All this I the reason I missed my opening is because I had, you know, when you get like a thread and you're like, oh boy, shit. And it leads to this. Like you're like, oh shit, it's working. Like you're getting an idea and you're putting things together, and I lost it. So I'm like, fuck, what was that thread? And I have no idea where the fuck I was at. I have no thoughts or anything. I catch me next week because I I was onto something. And then when you're like, oh, did you you miss your opening? And like I the thread fell. I'm like, fuck. Yeah, sorry. No, don't be sorry. Because I wasn't trying to be the thread. It's like something said, something was said, and I'm like, oh, oh, but and it had to do with the whole Richard Locke time traveling, the whole thing. I'm like, oh man. Anyhow, not enough alcohol in my system.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Some trivia. Trivia, yeah, trivia, yeah, trivia. The compass exists in a self-contained temporal paradox in that it is never created. Richard gives the compass to a time shifting Locke, who then returns it to Richard in the 50s. Fifty years later, the compass is given back to Locke before he time shifts, and the loop continues. This was intentionally written into the story by the producers.

SPEAKER_01

Shrooms. Serious shrooms. You have to be on something to come up with to even think about that. But go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

While Jack and Kate are at the hostels camp, Ben is uh well, young Ben is recovering from his gunshot in Richard's tent. But they don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Right. I thought about that.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Said is back after being after being absent for three episodes.

SPEAKER_01

Unacceptable. Three episodes too many.

SPEAKER_00

For the second episode in a row, a scene from the season premiere is shown in a different context.

SPEAKER_01

I like that.

SPEAKER_00

This is the eighth episode to take place completely on the island. This episode has neither flashbacks nor flash forwards, similar to Because You Left and I'm Ma Stay. Nonetheless, it's believed by some to be Richard-centric, and some of the transitions between 77 and 2007 are similar to the transitions used for the flashbacks, flash forwards. In other words, I got it. Most of the transition starts with Richard in one time period. The flashback sound occurs, and the scene changes to the other time period where Richard is present. But I like the way they did it because it follows Richard. But you're and it's like almost like Rich is the constant, not necessarily. So Richard is the one kind of going, we see his past and his future, except that for us, it's kind of current for both time periods, but it's his past.

SPEAKER_01

It's like it's worry, it's running consecutively in different times. It's weird. I get it. It's present, it's past, it's future, it's now, it's they're working parallel to each other. Because it's far even though they're like decades apart, they're still working. You know, the never mind. I can't get into words, but yes, it's weird. I like it. It's a good weird.

SPEAKER_00

So Whidmore, this is this is a point that I forgot to um Widmore protests that Eloise shouldn't make the trip in her condition.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, so she was just pregnant then.

SPEAKER_00

So I guess it's safe to assume, which is also how we get like the whole 40-year-old, 10-year-old, 50-year-old kind of um age progression. I'm and I'm just saying, like, you know, to put it in context of her age versus Daniel.

SPEAKER_01

Right. It makes sense, but at the same time, the actress she doesn't. I I don't know if it did it intentionally or not. She doesn't look like she's 40. And it kind of like you have. Right. And yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah. Some cultural references. The Korean War, right? Dr. Chang asked Hurley if he fought, and Hurley's like, there's no such thing. But the Korean War was from 1950 to 1953, and it was a post-World War II conflict that resulted from the division of Korea at the end of World War II and from the global tensions of the Cold War that developed immediately afterwards. Um, when Dr. Chang asked who's the president of the United States, the correct answer would have been Jimmy Carter, who was president from 77 to 81. The president in office when we were born.

SPEAKER_01

I knew that.

SPEAKER_00

I knew that too.

SPEAKER_01

Yay! We're smart.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm. Microsoft. It's an American multinational technology company founded in 75. The company rose to industry dominance in the 80s with MS DOS and remains one of the giants of the software industry. What do you think Richard meant when he said that there's some that something seems different about Locke?

SPEAKER_01

I think so. After dying and undying, um, he's definitely a different he's he's stronger as far as conviction and determination, and he's just he's more sure of what his path is. So he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna do this. No, we're gonna do this. No, this is what's happening. I mean, I guess if you think about it, right? And he's just like chill with it.

SPEAKER_00

But I think if you think about it from I I mean, I don't even know if rational is the right word, but like you died, you came back to life, so if you died and then came back to life, I feel like you might you might just walk around like let's fuck around and find out because what's gonna happen to me. I already came back from the dead once. Like, what else is gonna be like Locke is their new Jesus, okay?

SPEAKER_01

And I and also like every time Locke has met up with Richard or anyone, he's just like he has all these questions. He's like, Well, what do we what the fuck? And as he should, because it's all this crazy shit. He's like, but what the fuck? What am I gonna do? What happens now? What am I gonna he now? He's just like, okay, this is what we're gonna do, and this is what I'm gonna do, and this is the plans. Are you ready? Let's go now, okay? It's just so Richard's like, Wow, this is not the luck that left three years ago. Of course, it's been what six months and Locke's time, though, you know. But so yeah, he is a sense of I don't want to say knowledge or faith. What's the word I'm looking for? He's just like, listen, it is what it is, and what's gonna happen is gonna happen. Kraf's fucking ra. Um, yeah, I think that's what he said. Jack doesn't give me a few.

SPEAKER_00

Jack finally no. Well, Jack finally admits that he may have been wrong, and Locke may have been right about destiny.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he admitted something he was wrong progressionally.

SPEAKER_00

I mean that that that will do it for this episode. Unless you have anything else.

SPEAKER_01

I have nothing. I've eventually I hope to get that that thread back, and hopefully, I will remember to leave notes for our next recording about that thread. Because you know, it's it's a crapshoot. Who knows what's gonna happen with me?

SPEAKER_00

I had a note for this episode, and I remember thinking, oh, I should write that down, and then I didn't, and now I don't remember.

SPEAKER_01

That's about us, so yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um I mean there's like there's so much, but at the same time, it's very straightforward. Yes, there's a lot of it's like I can't I can't really elaborate, but there's a lot of hints in this episode.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. She's giving me the finger.

SPEAKER_01

I give you two because I love you that much. But these are manicured, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, they look very pretty.

unknown

But thank you.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you have, I mean, again, you have the these. Remember, as we go into the finales, historically speaking, in the show, the groups are always separated. Always. So it's a matter of what happens to each group and how do they come back together. Right?

SPEAKER_01

So you have the 2007 group, you have the 1977 group, but then with that, you have the lost group, you then have right in 1977.

SPEAKER_00

You have the ones that are like Jack Um Eloise Richard, right? Then you have the group that's on the sub, Kate Um Sawyer, and Juliet. And then you have Jin Hurley and Miles, who are still just kind of like, Well, we're gonna go to the beach, but now what do we do?

SPEAKER_01

And then in 2007, oh my god, you have you have the Lost East 2.0, and then you have the others who are now accepting Locke as their new leader.

SPEAKER_00

But even though Sun and Ben are kind of like, what the fuck is going on here?

SPEAKER_01

What in the world?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, how will they all find their way together and where and how and why and what?

SPEAKER_01

Next time on questions, yeah. I missed the other leaded, but I caught this one.

SPEAKER_00

You did. Next, all right. We have been we have not recorded the finale episode yet. No, we are not sure if it was if it will be one episode or two episodes. Because it is the incident part one and the incident part two.

unknown

I think.

SPEAKER_00

But depending on how yeah, I mean, depending on how recording goes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I forgot about that real life.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Fuck.

SPEAKER_00

Right. We may have to we may have to break it into two episodes. So, I mean, stick around, stay tuned. We'll see what happens.

SPEAKER_01

May the odds be ever in your favor.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

I don't have anything witty on my six. No, before that though, hopefully, we'll have our our season wrap-up. We yes, I always enjoy the season wrap-ups.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and then one more freaking season to the end of this madness, and then after season six, we'll do our season six wrap-up, and then we're gonna watch in chronological order.

SPEAKER_01

You're fired. No, I'm just kidding. You're fired. I'm gonna leave. Oh my god. I would I'm gonna treat you like Ben did Whitmore. I wanna like fire you from your own people. This is your podcast. I'm firing from your own podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Are you gonna come threaten my daughter? You wish some days.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. So no, I think I'll just get your daughter. I'll just stick your daughters on you. Ha ha ha ha. Since I can't be there.

SPEAKER_00

One of them might take you up on that. One of them. Anyhow, visit us assassinsips dot com. Don't drink and drive. And until next time, I am Lisa. And I am Agnes. And we are out of here and sloshed.
