Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sass and Sips. Where every episode we discuss and dissect an episode of Lost in Order. Yes, I will still add that in.
SPEAKER_00No, we're gonna skip all the way around.
SPEAKER_01I know we keep saying that we will, but um, we haven't yet, so I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I just I feel like you say in order, I just feel like it leaves that possibility that you might just skip one day.
SPEAKER_01Nelinda is obsessed with like um making decisions by spinning a wheel on her phone.
SPEAKER_02She's we had the magic eight ball in our youth, remember?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so she'll she'll put like anything you say, like, oh, what would you rather have for dinner, or where do you want to go to eat? Whatever. She'll put the choices in her phone and then spin a wheel, and the phone decides for her. So maybe we'll just let her decide.
SPEAKER_02How is that working out for the rest of the family?
SPEAKER_01How's what?
SPEAKER_02Her making her decisions that way. Like this is like, oh well, okay.
SPEAKER_01And at the end of the day, it's it's kind of just like whatever, she just made a fucking decision, so just let it go.
SPEAKER_02Be like, whatever, I don't give a fuck.
SPEAKER_01Even on her birthday, we're like, what do you want to do? Uh I don't know. Like, spin your fucking wheel and shut up. So yeah, maybe I'll have I'll I'll ask her to do that and she'll she'll pick our out of the way episode.
SPEAKER_02Sounds like a plan, but that means I get to watch something. I won't I won't be completely fucked up, right?
SPEAKER_01I'm like probably it would have to be from like season four. Oh, but I just thought of something. Fuck okay, something season three is I know um our pal Jamar has said how he hates season three, and I know season three has some really like terrible episodes, but um it does, and there's also some really good episodes, but there's also something really big that happens this season, and I'm afraid that if you watch something in the future, you're going to it's gonna ruin that for you.
SPEAKER_02I think okay, so okay, so you know how like it was like obviously the scientist in the real world, like kind of saw the signal, like whatever it was. What's what I'm looking for? Anyway, disturbance in the whatever. So at the end of season three, it's gonna be like the islands are going to implode on each other, like scientifically implode, you know, like metaphysically, kind of like you know. So maybe another dimension.
SPEAKER_01Maybe once we finish season three, then we can just like I'll let you watch like a season five episode or something. Oh, yay! Okay, all right. Anyway, we do this while we drink, so if our conversation seems a little loopy sometimes, well, that's the reason. A little, sometimes, you know. What are you thinking today?
SPEAKER_02I am actually having um special mommy coffee, a little bit of woo-hoo, and yeah. Um, I so sleepy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I get it. I have lemonade and vodka.
SPEAKER_02You have you made your own hard lemonade.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, what's that?
unknownStupid.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't live there anymore, so no.
SPEAKER_02That's right. I keep forgetting.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. So today's episode is Kate and I do.
SPEAKER_02Mira ovei. Completely. I was just like, was not expecting this. Really? I was like, I was, I mean, I knew there had to be some way, some reason. Like there's something, obviously, there's something missing, you know, between her last episode and how she got to Australia. Like, you know, there's something. But I was like, oh, that's interesting. But I like Married Kate. I like to see Make Kate like married and happy and in love. So overall, you like the episode? It was cute, it was fine. Like, I decided not to watch, I decided to watch each episode individually and not put up a series. Okay. Which goes against the whole point of having a series.
SPEAKER_01But you know, not really. I mean, because you can watch them individually because each episode off island is like its own individual story. Yeah, but on island is like what?
SPEAKER_02This guy is so screwy, but it does fit into the bigger puzzle.
SPEAKER_01So in the off-island flashbacks, we see this little piece of Kate's life, but then it does give you some pieces, like when she talked about being married, um, and it didn't last long. She talked about that she had taken a pregnancy test when she was talking to son. So it just kind of shows you those parts of the life that she's talked about, but we hadn't seen yet.
SPEAKER_02Um because I've actually, you know what's funny you said that I completely forgot those things happened, so you just mentioned it. We forgot. Yeah. Like I like I was thinking today, like like the first episode in general, like the the way the series started and where it's at now. I'm like, am I even watching the same show?
SPEAKER_01Because it changes, and we told you this was gonna happen. It's annoying the fuck out of me. Okay, you're lucky I love you. I know. Let's talk about flashbacks.
SPEAKER_02Acid flashbacks? Oh, you mean the show. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Is it much different at this point?
SPEAKER_02No, no. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Let me tell you something, and you just wait. Kate walks into a hotel room and opens a box containing a veil. A police officer at the door demands to be let in. However, instead of a confrontation, the two begin to kiss and make love as they move inside the room.
SPEAKER_02Kiss and make love.
SPEAKER_01The man is Kevin Callis, and tomorrow Kate and he will get married. Except he calls her Monica. Later, as Kate dresses for the wedding ceremony, Suzanne, Kevin's mom, gives her a locket passed down through the family. Since she only has four sons, she gave it to Kate, who is soon to be her daughter-in-law. Kate tries it on and says that it's perfect. Kevin and Kate marry as the priest speaks of Kate's honesty. Well, isn't that ironic?
SPEAKER_02I mean, she's honest with her love with him. I guess I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I know, I loved how he was like, and what you see is what you get. Uh-huh. Yeah, right. Well, good thing you're you're this is your job, right? Um settling into a life of domestic bliss, Kay calls Edward Mars to plead for the U.S. Marshal to stop chasing her. This is another part that she's that we've heard about before, but we haven't seen yet. Um, how he's I think it was in the air, one of the airport scenes that he talked about how she calls, she called him to harass him or to torment him. Okay, I believe you. Oh, okay, good. Um Mars guesses that Kate has got involved, has gotten involved with the man and tells her that he will stop chasing her when she stops running. But then he tells her, both of us know that isn't gonna happen. And Kate hangs up to avoid a phone trace. She's got a little handy dandy A timer in her purse.
SPEAKER_02But you know what the funny thing, yeah, right. I think I find it kind of funny. Like, yeah, she hung up to avoid the trace, but I also think she kind of hung up not to hear him to tell her the truth about herself. I think the timing, I think the timing and the traits just have to be coincide, but I have I think you're right. Yeah, if it wasn't for the egg, I think even if the tr if they had like another 10 minutes of the trace, she would have hung up at that point. Kate realizes my brain works sometimes.
SPEAKER_01It does, it does. Kate realizes that she cannot possibly live the daydream of a happy ever after marriage. Her past will catch up with her, and she is doomed to a life on the run. When Kevin surprises her with honeymoon tickets, she believes that she might be pregnant, though the test turns out to be negative. She panics about constantly living in a life of secrecy with her husband. Kevin is doing a paper on a certain Tampa job, and this is not the first time we've heard about a quote-unquote Tampa job that happened previously. She confesses the whole truth about herself, having first drugged him to prevent other people from suspecting he knew her real identity. As soon as he passes out, she puts locket that his mother had given her in his hand and goes on the run again. When she takes the pregnancy test and it comes out negative, she was crying. I think at first it's shown like that to make you think that she's upset that it's negative, but then later we see that she drugs him because she keeps saying like she she can't do this, and then she runs.
SPEAKER_02So do you think that it was it was a wake, it was a reality check for her. She's like, What if I I think it was more like it was a I think it was an emotional cry, period. I think it's like, what would I have done if I was pregnant? What would my life, what would my kids' life be? Like, what am I doing to this man? I think is one of those. I just can't do any of this.
SPEAKER_01See, I'm like, I'm so torn. Like, honestly, in that scene, because I think that she was relieved, but I think it's kind of like you said, I think you you really just like expressed what I was thinking is that she's crying because she can't realistically have those things.
SPEAKER_02Poor Kate. And it's kind of funny how her, and it's like her and Sawyer fit so well.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and I have thoughts about Sawyer.
SPEAKER_02Because of like it's I mean, like, she can't have a normal life, or she got herself in a position where the way, you know. Even even if she hadn't like killed her father, not father, whatever. I think the emotional damage she had grown up with, she wasn't gonna have a normal life anyway. And um Sawyer's perfect for her. So Sawyer gets her, he accepts it for who she is and doesn't want to change who she is. Freckles.
SPEAKER_01But and I think that that's that's true to his character, and not just with her, but I think but that's what makes him fit well with her. I like Sawyer. Yeah, yeah. When when we get to the end of the episode, I I feel like I have something to say about that.
SPEAKER_02Copy that.
SPEAKER_01Okay, on the island. Locke tells Nikki and Paolo, and I think I think that you were right. I think that Nikki and Paolo are supposed to be part of the original group. I just I guess they're just so like uh that I didn't remember.
SPEAKER_02See, I'm so glad I thought you were just fucking with me.
SPEAKER_01No, I really wasn't, like I really couldn't remember, and I I guess I just thought that they were because we hadn't seen them, but but then I was trying to think, I know this is like a side quest, but I was trying to think about which of the Taylor's were left.
SPEAKER_02None of them. Bernard. Oh, forgot about Bernard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but for the most for the most part, they're all gone. Um, the last time we s we don't know what happened to Cindy. She got like taken by the others, but we don't know what happened.
SPEAKER_02Like the first the first the first episode of them, but they were just yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and the and the two kids. So those are like the only well, we know what happened to Bernard, and then the other three, we just don't know what happened to them.
SPEAKER_02For the most part, they're gone. But they're all different purposes, they're gone.
SPEAKER_01Except except Bernard, yeah. Right.
SPEAKER_02They're all killed, and and the Tailys that made it past one episode, they were killed. All every single last one of them was shot.
SPEAKER_00But we don't, but the kids are probably not shot. I said, but they didn't make it, did they make but didn't they disappear the first episode?
SPEAKER_01They yeah, they disappeared the first well the beginning. Yes, but we remember we saw like them walking because of the teddy bear.
SPEAKER_02It was still like the first the beginning of the telly story. Yeah for volunteer purposes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Okay, on the island. Locke tells Nikki and Paolo that Echo must have been killed by an animal, probably the polar bear. He decides they will bury Echo where he died instead of taking him back to the beach because the other survivors have seen too many funerals recently. When Locke sets off to fetch shovels from the beach camp, Saeed insists on going with him. Along the way, Saeed asks Locke what really killed Echo. Locke says he does not have a name for the monster and that he believes Echo died for a reason, but he does not know it yet. Because Saeed realizes that they are not heading to the beach, Locke explains that they are making a detour. Did you raise your hand?
SPEAKER_00Well, I'm talking to you, the only other person here. I know, you know, listen to you like Ace. Oh, I thought you went like that. No, I was just like Okay, because like why is she stopping? Okay, so like after this, I was like, wait a minute.
SPEAKER_01I guess I just took it for granted that like they all saw the monster, but I guess Said had never seen it.
SPEAKER_02I guess not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No. Locke gives a brief eulogy at Echo's makeshift grave as he plants Echo's stick. He sees the quotation engraved on it. Genesis 13 14. Lift up your eyes and look north with John 3.05. So that's not north. Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's not, I mean, that's not north. You're looking up, you're not looking north. Perfect. I'm just sorry.
SPEAKER_01Well, at that point, he was looking down because he was looking at the Jesus stick. So he still had to lift his eyes at some level to look north.
SPEAKER_02So wait, so they say look up.
SPEAKER_01Look at the north. It says lift up your eyes and look north.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so theoretically it could be looking up and then turn towards the direction of north. Okay. Okay, okay, that makes sense then. Okay, as opposed to like, okay. I'm too sober for this shit.
SPEAKER_01I need drink up, drink up, drink up. On Hydra Island, Kate is awakened by the warning alarm from Sawyer's cage. Sawyer, who is throwing rocks, does not seem in a good mood. Jack is shown Ben's medical tests. Jack's prognosis is that Ben's death is certain without surgery done yesterday. Ben assents to immediate surgery, but Jack scoffs and explains that he's not going to do it because he doesn't trust the others to keep their end of the bargain to free Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. He shouts angrily at Juliet. Ben says he is disappointed in Jack's decision, but with a wry smile on his face, Jack replies, At least you won't have to be disappointed for very long.
SPEAKER_03True.
SPEAKER_01Meanwhile, Danny explains to Kate that it's time for work, and Sawyer is getting a day off. Kate says that she and Sawyer are a team and that she won't work without him. Danny and Sawyer reluctantly agree and they go to the runway quarry. During their shift at the quarry, an alarm announces a compound breach. Pickett orders guards to immobilize Sawyer and Kate, then exchanges information by walkie-talkie just as Alex charges in, using a slingshot to fire stones at the guards and urging Kate and Sawyer to flee. Pickett and Alex Wait, sorry. Danny, Pickett, and Alex have a standoff. Danny pointing his gun at Alex and Alex aiming her slingshot. Alex dares Danny to shoot her, shouting, Where is he? What did you do to him? And demands to speak to Ben. Danny stalls, and Alex is grabbed by another guard. As she's dragged away, she warns Kate, Whatever they tell you, don't believe them. They're going to kill your boyfriend just like they killed mine. Juliet arrives and confirms with Juliet arrives and confers with Pickett before politely asking Kate to put on a burlap sack hood. Juliet tells Pickett that our schedule has been moved up two weeks, while Pickett replies that's stupid. And Juliet confirms that it's just the way it is, Danny. Kate refuses the hood at first, but gives in after Julie Juliet says it's the only way to prevent Pickett from killing Sawyer. She brings Kate into the aquarium to see Jack. Jack smiles when he sees her, but they are separated by the glass wall of his cell in the hydra. Juliet leaves them in privacy, though Jack is conscious of the cameras. Ben watches Kate and Jack on the monitors. Jack and Kate ask if each each other Jack and Kate ask each other if they're okay. And Jack asks after Sawyer. Kate explains that they're being kept in outdoor cages and made to haul rocks for something big. What do you think they're building?
unknownOh baby.
SPEAKER_02Um, you know what? I never gave it a thought because what I told you I give up trying to figure out shit.
SPEAKER_01You'll you'll you'll find out in the future what it is.
SPEAKER_02Okay, then I'll find out. They're building um they're so with rocks. They're building a tunnel. I don't know. Are they building something? Or are they building what could they be building? What could they be building?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_02They're building an external. They're constructing something. They're constructing oh um a way to communicate with the real world. I don't know. I don't fucking okay. I don't know. Stonehenge 2.0.
SPEAKER_01Um Jack asks if Kate has been hurt, she starts to cry. Jack begins to reassure her that things will be okay, but Kate blurts out that he has to do the operation. Startled, he glances at the spy camera and then asks how the others have persuaded Kate to urge him to do the surgery. What they offered her? Oh baby. What they did to her to manipulate her, and Kate replies, nothing. Jack demands, then what are you doing here? Unable to contain her emotions, Kate answers that they've threatened to kill Sawyer. Jack looks up at the camera before turning away in frustration and anger. Kate apologizes and insists that she, Juliet, promised that they would let them go if Jack did the operation soon. Jack asks Kate rhetorically, but you believe them? To which Kate answers, I have to. Kate tries to plead with Jack, but he tells her, We're done here. Kate pursues the point, but Jack looks up at the monitor and says to Ben, Hey, we're done here. Then he turns away from Kate. In the monitoring room, Ben Trouble tells Juliet angrily to take Kate away. Kate is returned by Juliet to her cage. Sawyer is violently returned to his cage by Danny. Kate then tells Sawyer that she saw Jack and that he is being ordered to perform an operation on Ben. Sawyer asks, Who's Ben? Kate explains, Henry, the man who brought us here.
SPEAKER_02That made me laugh because I was like, Oh, that's right, he doesn't know the dude's real name.
SPEAKER_01I keep like, what the fuck? She becomes increasingly desperate at the idea of Pickett killing Sawyer, pointing out that he's been looking for a reason to do so, and climbs out of her cage. As Sawyer pleads with her to climb back in, she breaks off the lock to his cage and tells him to run. When Sawyer refuses to escape, Kate demands to know why, and he tells her that they are on a separate island about two miles offshore from their island. So unless you're a mermaid or you've got a boat, there's nowhere for them to go. She is angry that he hasn't told her this sooner, to which he explains he wanted her to have some hope that they would have a damn chance. At this, she kisses him. When he asks why, she responds tenderly, I don't know, and he kisses her back. Soon they are removing each other's clothes and making love. Later that night, in each other's arms, Sawyer asks, You gotta go back and say it the right way. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02Making love.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Soon they are removing each other's clothes and making love. Better laughing. Later that night in each other's arms, Sawyer asks if she only says she loved him to get Pickett to stop beating him. She says nothing in reply, but sits up and kisses him, then cuddles back into his arms. He smiles and says, I love you too. I I feel like the two of them just they really do love each other. Like it and it's it's so much more than just because they like it. Like it's just I think they both have developed a really strong connection to each other. Because when you look back, they are the only two people who have really been upfront with each other. Like they never have I ever and they shared a lot of secrets, but they have this connection of like they get each other, of like mutual even respect.
SPEAKER_02Because of who they and who they are as people individually works together as a couple, it makes it that much better.
SPEAKER_01I know such a and I think that they just the desperation of the situation, it's it's just so much that they just fuck it.
SPEAKER_02Like, what are you like what am I saying no to? Like what am I why like at this point in my life I am stuck on a fucking island? Like at that point in your life, you're like, fuck it. What what am I protecting myself from? I have bigger problems to worry about. And if he just pisses me up, I'm just throwing off a cliff. Like, you know.
SPEAKER_01But let's okay, um, oh, all right, I'll we'll talk about it later. Okay. Meanwhile, Jack is lying on the table in his room when he hears static from the intercom. He approaches it and speaks into it trying to get a response. A female voice says, try it, the door. It sounded like Alex to me, but I don't know if it was. He finds the door is unlocked and explores the hallways, venturing inside the room with the closed circuit TV monitors and a cupboard full of guns. He takes a handgun, checks to see that it's loaded, and begins to leave when he notices one of the monitors. Kate and Sawyer are cuddling post coitus. He looks down, hurt. However, Ben walks in on him and Jack holds him at gunpoint. Ben expresses his surprise about Kate and Sawyer, stating that if I were a betting man, I would have picked her and you. He's such a jerk.
SPEAKER_02Right, because you know damn well he does he I don't think he had any other fucking asshole. But he's listen, as far as his manipulative skills, they're on point. You can't like he gets what he wants.
SPEAKER_01Jack becomes angrier, but instead of refusing further to do surgery on Ben, Jack agrees. He tells Ben that when he's done, he needs to get the hell off of this island. Juliet anesthesizes Ben, and Jack begins the operation. Danny in the observation room leaves Tom and goes with another man to Sawyer's cage. Shepard wasn't on Jacob's list. Now, this is not the first time we hear about a list, but this is the first time we hear the name Jacob. So we'll talk about that. It's raining and Kate wakes Sawyer up. He orders Sawyer to come with him, although Kate, knowing that Danny is going to kill him, refuses. During the operation, Jack purposely cuts a small incision in Ben's kidney sack and then knocks out the other man in the room, leaving Juliet, Jack, and Ben in the operating room. He orders Juliet to back away from the table. Tom is shocked. Jack tells him that Ben has an hour to live and demands the walkie-talkie so he can speak to Kate. Sawyer hits the man accompanying Danny and tries to steal Danny's gun. But the other man holds Kate at gunpoint. Sawyer is forced to let go despite Kate telling him to fight. Pickett takes Sawyer outside the cage and puts him on his knees about to shoot him in front of Kate. Sawyer is ready to die. As Pickett is about to shoot, Tom's call on the walkie-talkie comes through, ordering him to give the walkie-talkie to Kate or else the doctor's gonna kill Ben. Danny reluctantly gives Kate the walkie-talkie. Jack tells Kate she has an hour head start and asks her if she remembers the story he told her on the beach the day of the crash. She says she remembers. Jack directs her to call him on the radio when she is safe and to tell him the story. Kate is distressed and hesitates, looking from Sawyer to the walkie-talkie and says, I can't leave without you. Jack responds by yelling, Kate, damn it, run. And with that, the episode ends. Back when this aired, this was like one of those mid-season finales. So there, I think there was like four months or something in between this episode and the next episode.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was kind of sounds like our season that we are currently working with.
SPEAKER_01Pretty much. Yeah, um, I think it was like literally like four months before, three or four months before the next one. Um okay, cliffhanger. I want to bring up a point here. Yeah, have you noticed an overall theme about what happens to these leading female ladies? You know, get killed off after they get it in.
SPEAKER_02They get killed off. All of them. It's like a it's like a 1980s horror movie. You have sex, you get killed by the so are they gonna kill Kate? Oh, shut up. Okay, fine. You start something, you don't finish it.
SPEAKER_01I just wanted to you know remind you of that lost tea.
SPEAKER_00That's awful, awful 1980 horror for the and it's raining. Oh, yeah, it's this is this is Friday the 13th, all over again.
SPEAKER_02Crystal Lake, Hydra Island. Yeah, and I've I know I've said it before, by the time you say the island, but like every evil organization, they name it Hydra. The Marvel Universe, the Hydra organization. Anyway, okay. I like Marvel. That's definitely my kink. Like, I can't wait till Spider-Man 3 comes out and Black Widow, and there's another one. There's another Marvel. Oh, and Black Panther 2. I can't wait till the rest. I just I okay.
SPEAKER_01Through the like, I mean, whatever. Through the course of the series, there's there's like the whole, you know, like Kate is is the female lead, right? So whatever. You do you some people want to see her with Sawyer, some people want to see her with Jack. So I think that like at this moment, this was like, oh my gosh, she's with Sawyer. And it was just oh or is she like you don't like you know, I mean, she was for sure.
SPEAKER_02Um that's true, and there's a witness because Jack saw, and all the people that watching it saw, but you know, in typical lost fashion, I would be surprised if they never saw each other again.
SPEAKER_01But I think that there's so much in in that scene, so to speak, because she comes to Jack saying that you have to operate on him because otherwise they're gonna kill Sawyer. And for someone like Jack, I mean Jack is a fucking martyr, you know, like he he was probably gonna do it anyway, because God forbid the good doctor lets anybody die. Right. But for him to now have to do it to save Sawyer, is that more motivation or is that less motivation?
SPEAKER_02More motivation because you can't play the martyr if you if you're not if there's no angst. Okay, I don't think he realized there's more motivation, I think it's subconsciously more motivation. Like, you know what I mean? If you would ask him directly, like, no, it's something like you can't, as someone who's used to deal with a martyr, fucking asshole, like they intentionally make decisions that's going to put them in a position of angst. And what's the what's and what's gonna give him more angst than say the man that the woman he loves is loves?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, but see, and then I think that that's the whole shit with Jack is like okay, when you Jack and Sawyer are like besties and rivals, and like two of the main leads, right? But the difference is that if if I were looking at these two characters as real people, I think that while Jack is not a bad person, you know. No, he's not. And you can say, like, oh well, you know, Sawyer's been in jail, he's a convict, or whatever. None of them are bad people, but but yeah, but that to me is irrelevant. Like when you're talking about a relationship and somebody to to be with, Sawyer is not one to to like hurt you, you know. But Jack is is a provider, but at the same time, it's like he's not an emotional. He he's gonna provide for you and then remind you that he provides for you. Provide it for you, and and and make sure that you know it, not because he necessarily wants like to hold it against you for something, but like he needs you to know that. And Sawyer is gonna take care of you, but like he'll make you feel like it was your idea. I love Sawyer, and I think that like most women want to feel like their significant other has their back and they're taken care of, whether or not they can take care of themselves. I think that it's just like a um like you just want to feel protected, protected, right?
SPEAKER_02So this goes again, this is exactly what I say. Like, they're like, oh, the girl, she never wants the nice guy. Because nine times out of ten, the nice guy is not really the nice guy.
SPEAKER_01Like every time that he tries to protect her, it's it's almost like saying, like, I'm gonna do this for you because you're not capable of doing it yourself. Even though that might not be how he means it, but that's how it comes across. And Sawyer's like, Oh, dude, you wanna come? All right, let me get you a gun.
SPEAKER_02Like, I'm gonna protect you to make sure you got the tool that you need to do the fuck you want to do. Because I find like so. The nice this is yeah, the nice guy really isn't the nice guy. Like, if you are being nice to me because you want to get into my pants, you're not the nice guy. Like, so no, we don't want the nice guys because sometimes that bad boy is the really the one that's just honest. He could have it would have been in her pants, yeah.
SPEAKER_01He could have been in her pants uh a long time ago, if that's all that he wanted from her, right?
SPEAKER_02Yes, yes. So the bad boy isn't always the bad boy, the nice guy isn't always the nice guy, as said by Agnes, the 40-plus year old spinster.
SPEAKER_01Okay, we get a mention of Jacob's list. Do you think that that's like a red herring? Do you think Jacob might be like another name for Ben?
SPEAKER_02No idea. I don't know. And it boggles, I don't like I know that's being compartmentalized and put in a box in a in a little box of his side, and that's just because they they've they've talked about lists multiple times.
SPEAKER_01Like um, they sent Michael with the list, they sent when the plane crashed. Remember, they were like, Oh, Goodwin get a list and Ethan get a list, and just like it's just so important about these lists.
SPEAKER_02So I obviously because you know, because as they have we talked about it in the elevator, this is like purgatory. Now, I feel like like question was a plane crashing happenstance, or was it something that happened that had to happen for the like like that plane had to crash? Those people had to be on that plane, they had to get on that island.
SPEAKER_01That's definitely a good question.
SPEAKER_02And I feel like these people have certain roles to play in whatever the future holds for this island, and the this reality folding into another universe, whatever happens to this island. So I don't know where that came from. Completely off topic.
SPEAKER_01Um, what do you think is gonna happen now? Like, like cliffhanger. You you uh you haven't seen the next episode, so like whatever. But like, do you think that they're gonna get off the island? Do you think that she's actually gonna leave? Do you think there's they're gonna kill her and or Sawyer? I mean, any just any thoughts, random thoughts.
SPEAKER_02I think her and Sawyer are gonna run off, but they're gonna try to save the doctor. I forgot his name that quick. Jack. Thank you. I was like JJ. Oh, this fucking cocoa mug through my head. Yep. Um, um, so I I don't know, I don't freaking know.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um I I mean the title is I do. I I mean, kind of self-explanatory.
SPEAKER_02I keep thinking Cardi B.
SPEAKER_01Okay, um there's not really any trivia for this episode. Like it's it's all just kind of like stating stuff that you know. Like Okay. Yeah. And talking about the walkie-talkies, so like stupid. Although actually, no wait. After Jack agrees to do the operation on Ben, he tells Ben that he needs to get the hell off this island. But Jack doesn't know he's on a different island. He doesn't know, he doesn't know. Remember, Kate didn't even know. Only Sawyer knew because whenever they've traveled, they've traveled with the sack over their head. And Ben took Sawyer and showed him. And Sawyer never told Kate, and Jack has been basically underrated.
SPEAKER_02That's right.
SPEAKER_01So even Kate just found out.
SPEAKER_02So how do you think he meant off this island? Period. I think so. Yeah. She's like, I gotta get off this island, period. Like he's assuming he's on the same island.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's that's that's my thought, but that doesn't make sense either because I don't know. So maybe he wants to go off the island so bad now because of Kate and I think he's he's like extra butthurt about it. Okay, think okay, let me stop.
SPEAKER_01And what do you make about remember in in like one of the last episodes that Juliet said that um she would kill him? Like that for Jack to kill him and that make it look like an accident and whatever. So I was thinking about that more now because you know, obviously he he agreed to do the surgery and he nicked the you know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But now if Ben's um tumor was that serious that he literally didn't have long to live, why would Juliet need to kill him during surgery? Like, why couldn't she just let it play out because looks like he only had a couple of weeks anyway?
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, a lot of things can be done in a couple weeks. A lot of decisions can be made, a lot of things can be done. Red buttons can be the proverbial red button could be pushed at any second.
SPEAKER_01But I just mean like that's a like something like that's so risky, you know.
SPEAKER_02There must be something that's like that's that's being taken as like that's time sensitive. Like I'm saying, like something could like be in the works and she needs him gone beforehand. Maybe I don't I didn't even think about it until you brought it up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I because I've been thinking about it like a trick. That's what I'm saying. Like, what would she have to lose or gain both ways? Like by him doing the surgery and killing him, or was it a trick to get him to do the surgery? But um next time, the episode is not in Portland, and we're gonna get Juliet's backstory. Oh, cool. So this is gonna be the first time we got a backstory on the others, yeah. And there's more? Well, there's an actor in the episode that I find ever so dreamy. And Alex makes fun of me all the time when we see this guy, but I love him so much.
SPEAKER_02When are we so enjoying it? Alex on again.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I mean, oh, I can't wait, darling. God, why did you have to ruin the fantasy?
SPEAKER_02Oh, sorry. I told you, I'm too sober for this. I need to be drunk to I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01I'm so sorry. Yeah, Alex, you know, of course, since I like him, Alex has to find a way to like bring him down a notch, so he calls him like Mr. Eyeliner, but he's so fucking cute. Anyway, you'll you'll believe me, you'll know who it is. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I think I have the types when I see that. Well, you yeah, you do. Anyway, which makes every which makes you so I'm like, wait, she has a type. That's not like what anyway. Yeah, what well I think we all have types. Mine is breathing. Um, you know.
SPEAKER_01That was funny.
SPEAKER_00But I'm excited for.
SPEAKER_02I'm still single, so that should tell you something.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01I wait a minute. So the next episode. Then actually, the next two episodes are both, in my opinion, really good episodes. Do I have a hap-do I have a history of liking your episodes?
SPEAKER_02No. I don't have a history of liking any episodes, but let's I mean, to be fair, watching this. To be fair, it's not you. I don't like mini episodes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But you for some reason tend to like the episodes that I don't, and I find that strange.
SPEAKER_02But oh, it's so interesting.
SPEAKER_01I I guess like this episode.
SPEAKER_02It was okay. It wasn't like you forgot this episode, but it was alright.
SPEAKER_01So the on-island stuff I liked, but the off-island stuff, I was just like, so like she got married and then she ran away. Woohoo. It's Kate. It's what she does.
SPEAKER_02That's true. But it the whole episode was pretty good. I like that, you know, Jack was Jack.
SPEAKER_01But I could see how you how you would say, like, when you take the episode out of context, like out of order, out of lost world. That it's it's not bad. No, it's just I think it's kind of like like what did I I didn't really learn anything about?
SPEAKER_02I don't find and then I find when I watch the show as a series. it just frustrates me because it doesn't give me it just gives me a hell of a lot more questions and it aggravates the fuck out of me.
SPEAKER_01Well that I mean that's mostly the point but yeah.
SPEAKER_02So yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I think I think that next the next episode um moves definitely moves the story along and it is gonna give you more questions but I think that it also is going to put things into perspective if that makes sense. Yes. And then the episode after that holy shit but okay woo okay I like holy shit shows. Yeah yeah I'll give you a clue shows that's I'll give you a clue the episode after is about Desmond oh I like Desmond and Desmond has been we haven't really seen much of Desmond lately but remember like Desmond has been having all of these like weird visions.
SPEAKER_02Right these I've been here done this before thing going on. Yeah like remember he he um saw the lightning hitting so this goes back to I think now connecting the whole like everyone had to be here for a reason like the people who are on the island are on the island for a reason it was destined or foretold or what the fuck ever they want.
SPEAKER_01Well that's a that's definitely a big theme. I mean one of the taglines right for the whole show is like Destiny calls oh it is I'm like 99.99% sure of that yeah I didn't even know it had a tagline because you could say anything I would have been like oh okay I didn't I didn't know there was a tagline the original housewife okay yeah definitely taco tues day oh K is like I don't like taco I can't do taco who doesn't like taco Tuesday come on bitch see see that I'm a little suspect go run across America and leave us normal people tacos well everyone loves a good taco oh I could go for a good taco right now that's what Krista was gonna get tacos but the taco place that we love is just way too expensive and I'm like no I can't I cannot it yeah myself to getting it when I have food in the house it's all like it's too expensive. I have food and I'm on a diet so it's just like yeah three strikes you're out we there's a little Mexican spot near us and we tried it and it's a little bit on the expensive side but they give you a lot of food cool and it was it's good. The only thing ironically that wasn't good is the guac. Really yeah it was just bland like it just it just didn't have any flavor I I ate it and I was like um is it just me or does this have no taste? Because if I have no taste sense of taste I'm gonna get it just like an avocado with no salt no nothing that's what it felt like and I can eat a plain avocado that doesn't bother me but when you want guac you want guac not avocado so but whatever but the food the food was good so I'm happy about that at least like it's like walking distance close so that's good. Oh that's cool so I think with that that'll do it right I believe so okay well thank you everyone for being here with us and listening to us ramble on about this episode. And please stay tuned for the next episode when we'll we'll blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah this next episode is going to be not in Portland and we gotta look into Juliet's backstory and I'm actually so excited for it.
