SPEAKER_00

Hi, and welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips. Today we are going to talk about Lost, Season 5, Episode 3, Jughead. I'm Lisa.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm Agnes. I can't be serious for 30 seconds.

SPEAKER_00

No. What are you sipping on?

SPEAKER_01

I went back to an old favorite, crown van crown roll vanilla with cream soda.

SPEAKER_00

You know, I meant to actually, and I I completely dropped the ball on that. When I was in the store, I was literally looking for the cream soda, and then I got distracted. I don't know, something shiny must have passed away.

SPEAKER_01

She's a cool look squirrel. Yeah. I do have moments. Um and I really at a time I didn't connect it to my MS, but it kind of, I mean, it yeah. Um, but legitimately there were days, not moments, but days where I felt like I was like channeling a nilbar squirrel. And I was like, oh, the cognitive issues that make sense. I'm not stupid. Well, yeah, yeah. At least not for this.

SPEAKER_00

I think I think for me, it's just that I have like 75 active things I'm working on in my brain. So the cream sort of fell by the wayside. But that's okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I feel like you're kind of working like our age, we're not only we're not working on the Mac computer, our brain.

SPEAKER_00

We're working on like we're like on a Windows 93. Yeah. We might even be like MS DOS here.

SPEAKER_01

That's what I'm thinking. And you know, that 404 error page not found happens nine or ten times and then gets frozen.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then the printer gets jammed.

SPEAKER_00

I have I have wine. Uh not as exciting as the crown and the cream soda, but I have wine, so I'm good.

SPEAKER_01

It's always the right answer. And I'm so disappointed because I didn't have the extra funds to go. One of the grocery stores in the neighbor, well, not my one area, um, had to close for lease, you know, the rent was too the rent was too damn high. Um, so they had to sale pretty much all their liquor or alcohol that they had left over. It was a huge sale. I'm like, I don't have the funds for this. If I do this, I can't eat. And I was being a responsible grown-up. I'm so disappointed in myself. Um, yeah, very disappointed. And so, yeah, I think the other day was the last day. I was like, I did not fall through for peer pressure of myself. Yeah. Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00

Before we jump into the synopsis, you have any hot takes?

SPEAKER_01

None.

SPEAKER_00

I can't believe it.

SPEAKER_01

None. I was just there. I'm like, okay, I'm watching it.

SPEAKER_00

Did you even watch the episode?

SPEAKER_01

I did watch the episode.

SPEAKER_00

And you don't have anything to say right now.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so the first scene, I mean, nothing that's gonna be like I have to say before we start. No, and I I did start off and I'm like, nothing's making sense. Like, where does these pieces, where do these puzzles and pieces fit in? And I couldn't figure it out, and then 10 minutes later, you know what? Fuck it, just watch the show, Agnes. Cause I'm yeah, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well, it's such a good episode. I'm like, it was a good episode because you got it, it just goes like deeper into the lore, and and all of a sudden.

SPEAKER_01

That's what drove me crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Well, maybe, but that's what gets me because I'm like, okay, first of all, we now know what year it is. But that's that we get deeper into Daniel's past, and we find out what the relevance is of one of the characters that we've been seeing on the island. It also kind of puts the episode Cabman fever more into perspective, and I feel like we do get a huge chunk of the puzzle by watching this episode. Yeah, I guess. Oh, forget it. Just start reading. I'll take your word for it. I'm over here excited, and you're just like anyway. So we know what what year it is now, it's 1954. My mom wasn't even born yet.

SPEAKER_01

Mine was. Oh, yeah. Well, to be fair, I'm the fourth child out of five. So she had a history before me. I mean, that history before me really didn't make much of a difference. Her life did begin until I was born. Let's be real.

SPEAKER_00

Um on the island, Miles, Charlotte, Daniel, and two other survivors of the flaming arrow attack are traveling to the creek to meet up with the remaining survivors. But when they get there, there's no one there.

SPEAKER_01

Which is on brand for this show.

SPEAKER_00

Of course.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe they were at the wrong wet part.

SPEAKER_01

The wet part. He goes, which part the wet part.

SPEAKER_00

Two of the survivors wander slightly away, just as Miles notices tripwires. He shouts a warning, but kaboom! Boom! The Claymore mines go off, and two of the survivors are killed. Uh, but but before they can all recover, a group of people dressed in like army kind of attire come out of the jungle. They've got bows and guns, and they take them prisoner. There's a blonde woman named Ellie, and she's like, There was 20 of you at the beach, but why are there only five of you now? And Miles is like, Well, maybe they were blown up by your landmines. But Ellie says that they didn't place landmines, and she blames Miles' group for them. Ellie asks who's in charge, and Miles points to Daniel. The woman says to Daniel, you just couldn't stay away, could you? Later, she asks where the rest of his people are, and Daniel tells her he doesn't know. So, she takes them to their camp.

SPEAKER_01

Take me to your leader. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Meanwhile, in another part of the jungle, Locke, Sawyer, and Juliet debate what to do with the two assailants they captured. Locke identifies the gun as an M1 Garand. I don't know if I said that right, but that looks new, despite dating from the 1940s or 50s. Sawyer notices Locke's leg and asks him who shot him, but before he can answer, Juliet reminds them that there's more important issues to decide. When the assailants speak to each other in a foreign language, Juliette reveals that she understands Latin, the language that they were speaking. Based on their knowledge of Latin, Juliette identifies them as others, explaining others 101, gotta learn Latin, language of the enlightened. Upon learning that their captives are others, Locke decides to have them take him to their camp. Take them to their leader. Juliet convinces Cunningham to take them there, but before anything can happen, Jones breaks his companion's neck, killing him instantly, and begins to run into the jungle. Locke refuses to shoot the escaping man, explaining to Sawyer that the prisoner is, quote, one of my people. As Charlotte, Miles, and Faraday are taken to the others' camp, Daniel notices that one of his captors is wearing bandages that he believes cover burns from radiation exposure. Miles begins to behave erratically and tells Daniel that they are walking over a fresh grave that is less than a month old. He says that the grave contains the bodies of four U.S. Army soldiers, three of whom were shot, and a fourth who died from radiation exposure. Daniel asks if Miles was able to ascertain what year the soldiers might have said it was, but he doesn't get an answer as they have arrived at the others' camp, a stead of military tents on what appears to be the Mesa. They are introduced to Richard Alpert, who appears to be, as usual, the same age. The others believe them to be members of the United States military who have come for the bomb.

SPEAKER_01

Faraday decides to oh I feel like I feel like a great segue into Give Me the Boy would have been good here. Give me the bomb. Give me the boy. Okay. Tell me that you didn't think of that as you were saying that.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't, but I will now. We're here for the bomb.

SPEAKER_01

We're here for the boy and the bomb and the bomb of the boy. Ask any girl. We're like the same shit.

SPEAKER_00

Faraday decides to play along with their misconception and says that their scientists attached to the American military. Upon noticing radiation burns on one of the others, he concludes that he concludes that the bomb is a hydrogen bomb and that its casing is cracked. He offers to deactivate the bomb, but Richard wonders if they are not here for suicide mission, detonating the bomb and destroying the island with it. Daniel convinces Richard that he will not detonate it by admitting that he loves Charlotte and would not want any harm to come to her. Richard orders Ellie to take Faraday to the bomb. Meanwhile, Jones, fresh from his escape from Locke, arrives in camp confident that he was not followed, as it would be impossible for a soding old man to track him, and that there's no way that he could know the island better than he does.

SPEAKER_01

I did chuckle at this part.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like, um, Locke got something for your ass.

SPEAKER_01

My man Locke.

SPEAKER_00

Hi Terry. Don't sleep on the old people.

SPEAKER_01

Seriously. Especially this generation. Ex nihilistic as fuck. Try us.

SPEAKER_00

As Faraday is being taken to inspect the bomb, Locke, Sawyer, and Juliet arrive on the outskirts of a camp. Well, it's funny because just as he's like, yeah, that old man can't track me. He doesn't know this island. And then you see the aerial shot like right over Locke's head of him watching, like, mm-hmm, got you.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know shit. Right. I guess the whole, oh, people don't know shit, and then we and then we show them shit doesn't ever go away.

SPEAKER_00

When asked how she knew Richard would be among the group, Juliet responds, because Richard has always been here. Locke then asks Juliet just how old Richard is, to which she replies, Old. Seeing Faraday being marched towards the wood, uh the woods at gunpoint, Sawyer misinterprets this as an execution and determines to rescue him. However, Locke is determined to head into camp and meet Richard. Locke says he'll give them a head start and then he proceeds into camp. Striding into camp and demanding to see Richard, Locke causes a commotion, particularly angering the man whom he kept as prisoner. Locke hopes to continue where he left off with Richard and his conversation, but Richard doesn't recognize him or know his name. Well, remember, Richard said the next time I see you, I'm not gonna know who you are.

SPEAKER_01

Right. He because obviously he remembers the situation. That Richard remembered the past Richard's situation. Wow, this makes sense. I'm going to bed now.

SPEAKER_00

As Jones holds up a gun to Locke and the cam turns hostile, Locke declares that he was sent by Jacob. Stunned, Richard tells a young man to lower his gun, but when he refuses, Richard angrily aims the man's gun away from Locke, snapping. I said, put it down. I said, put it down, Widmore. That was the cute little thing. I was like, did you not be like, oh shit. No, I just don't even fucking care.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, okay, that makes sense. Nothing about this shit confuses, um, surprises me.

SPEAKER_00

And then Locke turns around and is like, Widmore? Charles Widmore? Could you imagine like just this? You're there thinking, like, oh hey, it's 1954, we're on this island, the US military, the blah blah blah blah. And then this random ass old man who you swore couldn't track you, now found you, and then is like, hey, I'm sent here by Jacob, and your leader is like, Oh, you know what? Let's put the gun down. And then he turns down and says to you, I know who you are. At that point, you're not just like, uh what the actual fuck. Meanwhile, Daniel is inspecting the bomb, which is named Jughead. Upon seeing some sort of accretion, which is expansion or swelling, on the side of the bomb, Faraday recoils in horror.

SPEAKER_01

This just sounded really dirty. Secretion.

SPEAKER_00

Accretion, not secretion.

SPEAKER_01

But I heard secretion and then swelling and yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Expansion and swelling, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's been a minute.

SPEAKER_00

Faraday recoils in horror and confirms to Ellie that the casing of the bomb is cracked. He tells her that they must seal the crack with lead and then bury the bomb in a concrete bunker. He explains that this will work because he is from the future and that the island has not experienced a nuclear blast. As he is explaining this, Sawyer comes up behind Ellie with a rifle and demands she drop her weapon. Locke meets with Richard, now holding the compass that Locke gave him. Richard asks how Locke got the compass, and Locke says that Richard will give it to him in the future, and that he'll also refer to Locke as their leader. Richard explains that their leaders are chosen by a very specific process and that it starts at a very, very young age. Locke asks what year it is and is told 1954. He says that he's going to be born in two years in Tussin, California, and invites Richard to come and meet him. And as we do know, he does. Right, right. Well, so now that's what I'm saying. Like now we understand what precipitated those events for what made Richard want to seek out Locke as an infant, as a child, as a teenager. Right.

SPEAKER_01

It made sense. It totally made sense. I just didn't, I didn't get my I didn't, yeah. I was like, okay. And it made me want to flick my clip. I was like, okay.

SPEAKER_00

Locke senses that time is about to shift and urges Richard to tell him how to get off the island. But before he can answer, we get the time shift. It's now November of 2004. The group finds themselves at a point in time at which Richard's camp does not exist anymore. Daniel, upon seeing Charlotte, rushes over to comfort her. But soon after they're reunited, she begins bleeding from her nose and collapses. Throughout the episode, though, he was asking her, um, is there dizziness?

SPEAKER_01

Is there obviously knows there's something wrong and why there's something wrong? And obviously, we kind of I so just TV genius. We figured it out as we're watching the other, like what's happening in real time, current time, desmantine. It's called Desmond Time, and we're like, oh, okay, that's why he's so pretty.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we saw the same thing happen with Daniel's rat. We saw the same thing happen on the freighter with Minkowski. Minkowski. We didn't see it, but then the other guy that they said that the same thing happened to. So Daniel is very aware. Oh, and actually Desmond too started to get, you know. But because he found the constant, his constant, he was able to stabilize right. In a flashback, we go to an unknown coastal town in the Philippines. We're greeted by a banner that reads Mu muhe, meaning welcome or long live in the Filipino language. Desmond is rushing through the beach looking for a doctor named Ephren Salonga. He finally reaches the hut, finding the doctor playing cards. Then they rush to Desmond's boat to find Penny in active labor. Penny successfully gives birth to a baby boy, which leads the couple to kiss and profess their love to each other.

SPEAKER_01

Do I gag now?

SPEAKER_00

Later, in 2007, we see Desmond sitting with his son on the sailboat. Desmond begins to tell him of a special island he used to live on, a place he hasn't visited for many years. And then in case you, you know, really, really like we're gonna fall into the trap, it's like, yeah, it's not that island.

SPEAKER_01

I kind of figured it was it, because I I yeah, I thought it was cute. Like as he's talking about it, I'm like, it's funny how it fits both situations, it fits both islands.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So they're talking about Great Britain, and then he says that he's from Scotland, which is the most beautiful part, and it's also where his parents fell in love, and then Penny is like, yeah, and it's also where you broke my heart, you bastard. No, I'm just kidding. Um Desmond tells her that he has to find Daniel's mother and tell her that Daniel's still on the island, but and then he'll be done for good. And Penny is like, but like, why now? I feel like Daniel, um, Desmond is like the Obi-Wan Kenobi here. Like, everyone kind of points to him as like the Jesus figure for the show, but I'm like, dude, he's like Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're our only hope. Jedi Master. Anyway. Um, Desmond promises her that he's going to like just take the one day he's gonna find the mother, and then that's it. And Penny's like, well, if you're gonna make a promise, then promise me you'll never go back to the island. And Desmond's like, why in God's name would I ever want to go back there? So I think we can like safely say that at some point Desmond is gonna try to go back there. Because, like, yeah, nobody in any show, nobody's ever like, I'm never gonna do that. And then it's always like the next scene.

SPEAKER_01

Next scene, literally.

SPEAKER_00

They're doing that.

SPEAKER_01

I'm doing what I said I'll never do. I mean, I don't think he wants to. He has no intentions of going. He honestly he is telling her the truth at that moment.

SPEAKER_00

And I and also I might just be fucking with you because this might be the one time that it actually does.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I wouldn't then think he's gonna go and he's end up on the island, but he's not the one, he doesn't need to be, he doesn't have to go back to the island.

SPEAKER_00

What business would Desmond even have on the island?

SPEAKER_01

The same business he was there to begin with. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like he was just but that was that m Desmond ended up there because he was trying to prove how like worthy he was by sailing.

SPEAKER_01

But how they all end up on the island by accident. No one planned to be on the island. So I was like, I feel like why I don't know. If he ends up on the island, I would not be surprised if he's one of the people that need to be on the island too.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Desmond goes to Oxford in search of Daniel's records. The receptionist tells him that there's no records of anyone by the name of Faraday being employed at the university. Suggesting it may be a clerical error, she asks Desmond what year he visited, but he can't remember. So then he goes to Faraday's office to snoop around. He finds the lab and the door sealed, but Desmond ignores it and kicks the door open. The lab is dilapidated and abandoned. Everything including the rat made maze and the chalkboard is now covered in tarps. A custodian arrives and notices Desmond. He tells him that he was secretly burning the rats Daniel was experimenting on so no one would know what he was doing there. He also tells why Oxford is ashamed of Faraday because he experimented on a live human subject, a young woman. Desmond tracks down the woman named Teresa, only to find out that she is. In what appears to be a coma, but is in fact in a time trance similar to Minkowski's. Her consciousness is traveling through time and cannot be stopped. Teresa's sister, Abigail, warns Desmond of Faraday's cowardice and how he abandoned Teresa, unlike Charles Whidmore, who has graciously paid for her medical support and a live in nurse. It is then revealed that Whidmore subsidized Faraday's research at Oxford. That's what I'm talking about. Like, and then it's like the mystery gets deeper. So it's not just okay.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, no, you're right. You're absolutely right. You're like, okay, this connection, like, oh shit, you didn't expect that. But at the same time, it's like, not surprised.

SPEAKER_00

After his travel to Oxford, Desmond Dirty shut up.

SPEAKER_01

Good kills.

SPEAKER_00

Like, I'll be dead. And you gotta be looking for a new co-host. No, that's okay. Because you know what? I got something coming for you, and you just don't even know it yet.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, to be fair, I did have to take a Ada van this morning. So I'm just like, everything is everything. Whatever.

SPEAKER_00

After his travel to Oxford, Desmond journeys to Whidmore's office, barges in past the secretary, and demands to know what where he can find Daniel Faraday's mother. When Woodmore dissembles, Desmond reveals that he knows Woodmore has financed Faraday's research and has paid for Therese's medical support. He's like, of course you'll know where his next of kin is.

SPEAKER_01

Duh.

SPEAKER_00

Desmond says that he'll not answer any of Whidmore's questions, but that he only has one question. And when he answers it, Desmond will leave him alone and he'll never see him again. He proceeds to ask about the mother's address, and Woodmore wants to know if Penny is safe. Desmond is like, fuck that, what's the address? I mean, you know, it's not what he says, but it's what he wanted to say.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, he and all his body, his eyes, everything said, fuck that was the address. Like he actually did say it without saying it.

SPEAKER_00

Woodmore eventually gives Desmond an address in Los Angeles, but tells him that Daniel's mother will not be happy to see him because she's a very private person. Whidmore ends the conversation by warning that this business has been going on for many, many years and begs Desmond to keep himself and Penny out of it and safe by going back into hiding. When Desmond returns to Penny, he lies and says that Daniel's mother is dead. And Penny's like, fuck that, I see right through you. And then Desmond's like, well, she's in Los Angeles. And Penny's like, okay, guess we're going to.

SPEAKER_01

She's not letting him out of her sight. Mm-hmm. I don't blame her. No fucks giving. She I think that and their son is cute. They got a cute kid.

SPEAKER_00

And so did you catch his name?

SPEAKER_01

Charlie. Charles. Charlie. Yeah. Charlie. Gee, I wonder where they got that from. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yeah, no, I have.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it's Charles Whitmore.

SPEAKER_00

I honestly, like, I always was like, oh, that's so cute. He named him after Charlie. And it never once occurred to me that Penny's father is also named Charles.

SPEAKER_01

Like it totally, I totally got it from. I think it was totally Charlie, but the same time, because hello, they're hiding from him. So yeah. So the fact that you didn't think about him makes sense. He's he's a non-motherfucking factor. I mean, he's a huge factor. But as far as the father figure is concerned, he's a non-motherfucking factor. Right. He's an NMF. Say that three times fast.

SPEAKER_00

The thing is, right, with this episode, it's pretty straightforward. And I think that that's what I really like about this episode is that it's pretty straightforward while also giving you a couple of answers, but a couple of questions.

SPEAKER_01

But it's not the place. Right. It wasn't the crazy typical lost fucker in my head that had me drinking two bottles of wine during each recording. It's not that bad anymore. God, do you do you have any idea how much I love you to continue this process?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but I you know what? I think you secretly like some of the episodes.

SPEAKER_01

How many episodes have there been thus far? I don't know. 80? 100? I like maybe two.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, shut up.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm and that there's only one that I remember the constant. Hello. And that I'm sure there might have been one more that was like, oh, that was a pretty good one. This is yeah, so no. No. And I think you're gonna give me a hard time for my show when it's time for me to pick, whether you like it or not. You're gonna give me a hard time, and it's gonna be purely fake. You're like, this is the great show ever. I'm gonna give it a hard time.

SPEAKER_00

Well, because I can recognize a great show. Clearly, you cannot because you don't like this show. And I believe people listen, listen, listen.

SPEAKER_01

I'm listening.

SPEAKER_00

Even the idiots who are like they're dead the whole time are still like, okay, but it was a good show, but they're dead the whole time. Even they're half right.

SPEAKER_01

And then the other people who don't know what the fuck you're talking about didn't want to watch this crazy shit. You know how many people that like they started, they're like, Yeah, fuck this shit. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Do you know how many people started was like, oh my god, best show ever. I can't miss a minute.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I would have to say maybe it's like 50-50. We are the people the Mies are we're not a minority, so don't because I'm black, right? Is that why it is whatever, whatever, whatever. Whatever. I do what I want.

SPEAKER_00

Only two of the original main cast members from season one are actually in this episode.

SPEAKER_01

Locke.

SPEAKER_00

Son of a bitch.

SPEAKER_01

Wait, um that was a hint. Oh, I thought you were yelling at me.

unknown

That was a hint.

SPEAKER_00

Um Sawyer.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Sawyer, duh. Fuck, son of a bitch. Oh, because I had to go through the scenes and I hadn't hit the scenes where he was in yet. I think that ad event really hit you. I'm just chill and I love everyone. Except for the show.

SPEAKER_00

We meet Ellie, who is, you know, in 1954, and she tells Daniel, Daniel thinks that she looks familiar, and then she tells Daniel, you just couldn't stay away. I know we don't really have much reference, but if you had to guess, um, I remember when they were talking, I feel like when when he was there doing dharmas coming into I don't know what the fuck is going on.

SPEAKER_01

I think the back and forth and him being has something to do with he's met her at one point in time, do one of his travels that happened but hasn't happened yet. Okay. That makes sense in the weird it makes sense. Um then I and then but also that it's just maybe it's just the idea of she assumed he's part of the military and it's just a a blanket statement, like you just can't stay away.

SPEAKER_00

Like, yeah, yeah, I get that.

SPEAKER_01

So I think it's it could be either one and I'm putting 50 on red and 50 on black.

SPEAKER_00

One or both may be right.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I'm putting 50 on black and 50 on red and whatever hits, I got. I'm good. Take me to Vegas, somebody. I just want to eat and drink.

SPEAKER_00

Cultural references. Jughead, uh, the name of the show, was the code name for a bomb in the real life operation. This was the code name for a bomb in the real life Operation Castle nuclear test at Bikini Atoll, which took place in March slash April of 1954. The bomb named Jughead was not detonated. And then it goes to Jughead Jones, who was the regularly featured character in Archie, the Archie Comics.

SPEAKER_01

Jones.

SPEAKER_00

And he was notable as the lead character in a 1990 comic book series, Jughead's Time Police. In the series, Jughead uses a special beanie given by an unknown benefactor in order to travel through time, fixing disturbances in the timeline with the help of one of his own descendants from the 29th century. The uniform Widmore wears on the island has the name Jones written on it.

SPEAKER_01

It must be a lot of good shit, and that's writer's room. There's nothing you can say that can make me think otherwise.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. So now we know that the U.S. Army has visited the island, which also reveals the origin of the pocket knife that we saw Anna Lucia and Goodwin fighting over.

SPEAKER_01

I'm sad about that one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so they brought that back around. Widmar's office also still has the same paintings from when Desmond visited him before ended up on the ending up on the island. Like the polar bear with Namaste. I mean Which Why would you I mean it's not abnormal to have the same paintings.

SPEAKER_01

But most people change their painting. They like those rich people, they always change the decor all the time.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it's not it's not so much necessarily to me that the paintings are still the same, but it kind of puts it a little bit more into context now. Like before it was kind of like, oh, look, we're on the island with the survivors of a plane crash, and there's Dharma, Namaste, Polar Bears, and now we find out that Whidmore was on the island.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay, that makes sense. What? Yeah. I feel well, we we we obviously we already knew he knew a lot about that island.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Well, we get now we know why we get so much more of that, right? Because he was looking for it, he went through all these kind of crazy lengths to find it, and now it's making more sense why, and it also puts a little bit more perspective into the whole Ben Widmore rivalry.

SPEAKER_01

Team Ben, I go figure like three seasons ago. Did you ever think anyone like let's say pretend that you didn't see the show? Did you ever think you would be Team Ben?

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Like when Ben first popped up.

SPEAKER_00

And so it also leaves some unanswered questions, such as how did the army find the island?

SPEAKER_01

By accident, how any government finds sh anything by accident? Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yes, except that oh look, we dropped one of our bombs.

SPEAKER_01

Let's go pick it up. Let's go get it. Oh, look, the island's there. It's not there. I can't find the island, but I can't find the island.

SPEAKER_00

Right, that's what I mean.

SPEAKER_01

So I think it's one of those things.

SPEAKER_00

You're probably not driving around with the big old bomb thinking like, hey, and some tens, thinking like, hey, just in case we stumble upon a mystery island that we can only find one time.

SPEAKER_01

No, I think it was something the bomb like it fell, it like it landed, whatever the case may be. It didn't detonate. Okay, let's go find a bomb, or well, let's go find out this bomb. Wait, it's not there, but wait, it is there, but wait, it's not there. So when I say they found the act island by accident, legit, they threw a pin and landed there, so to speak.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Government don't do anything intentional.

SPEAKER_00

And we get hints that someone else has visited Daniel Faraday's office before Desmond.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, who knows? Who the heck knows? Probably let's see. Um probably Locke. No, I'm trying to think. Because at this point, Locke is dead, right? Like this Desmond looking for Faraday's mom is at the same time as what's going on in California, right?

SPEAKER_00

I believe so.

SPEAKER_01

So probably Ben a lot looking for him. Looking for his mother. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

It was Ben looking for the mother.

SPEAKER_00

And that's another thing, right? We see remember you were like something about the new mothers being good mothers, and so now we see that Penny is a new mother.

SPEAKER_01

Holy shit.

SPEAKER_00

Holy shit.

SPEAKER_01

Holy shit. Something just happened.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh. What just happened?

SPEAKER_01

The jeweler lady.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And the other lady, same lady.

SPEAKER_00

What lady?

SPEAKER_01

The the the last episode at the end with Ben. The jeweler. Uh-huh. Yeah. Same lady.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, the the one with the the Desmond and his flash? Yes. Uh-huh. What about her?

SPEAKER_01

I lost it. I had it. You know, you had like a little thing and then you lose it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh fuck, I've wanted to hear that.

SPEAKER_01

I have a question. Who remember Desmond doing the whole the beginning of Desmond's story? And someone came up to him and told him something. Oh, it was Charlie. Charlie was the one, but he didn't know Charlie the time.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, on the corner, you mean? Yeah, that was Charlie. Charlie. Desmond comes across Charlie singing on a corner.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Charlie is singing the Oasis song. But I remember this episode because you never, and because I was like, wait, you never heard that song? And you're like, no. Anyway, Charlie is singing, and Desmond is like, I know you. Something like we were on an island, and Charlie's like, it's England. It's an island.

SPEAKER_01

Like, and okay, so that same that same episode. I gotta go back to the episode.

SPEAKER_00

It's I believe the episode was flashes before your eyes. Okay, I'm gonna go back to the episode.

SPEAKER_01

And we're going to do an addendum to connect my to get my thoughts together. Yeah, because it's fucking something is like pulling at me, and I don't know what it is. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I can't wait to see where this goes.

SPEAKER_01

Neither can I.

SPEAKER_00

See, can I just tell you that this is what I live for? Because this is like how I felt when I watched it the first time. And I'm like, and we didn't have streaming. We had to wait a week. Yeah, or like you still made me wait on the weekends.

SPEAKER_01

You still made me wait.

SPEAKER_00

But that's but yeah, but I couldn't just go back to any random episode because I had a thought. That's to do that though.

SPEAKER_01

That's a good point.

SPEAKER_00

So I would DVR a lot of them because I did have DBR, but we were always like running out of space because you know, like, whatever.

SPEAKER_01

But everybody was DBRing everything.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but so like if I had a thought, it'd be like, oh, please do I have this episode? And chances are I didn't. Okay. Flashes before your eyes, addendum. If there's anything juicy enough to tell.

SPEAKER_01

If there's anything juicy, if I probably oh no, never mind. Nothing was there.

SPEAKER_00

Well, maybe we could just turn it into like an Instagram video or something, if it's not like a whole episode.

SPEAKER_01

It's definitely just probably an Instagram thing. We could just do boom. Yeah, something's all right.

SPEAKER_00

Aside from um Miss Hawking, you got anything else before we wrap this one up?

SPEAKER_01

No, I think I'm pretty good. See, I had thoughts, I had opinions. I just wasn't gaga over it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. The next episode is The Little Prince. Any guesses?

SPEAKER_01

Just real quick. Are they talking about Charlie Jr.? Uh Charlie the Second. Um, let's see the little Prince, Little Prince, Little Prince, Little Prince. I mean, it's a little bit too obvious. The little prince. Um, maybe Charles Whitmore is the little prince. He obviously comes from a wealthy family, I'm thinking. So he's like the little prince, using ironically. Um, I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I love, I love when you give your guesses. Also, one, because it gives me a perspective, like a new perspective. Since I know what it is, it I can't I I can't always see out of the box. So it's really interesting to see what a like what a non watcher a newbie, right, guesses at.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

But also because some of them are pretty fucking funny.

SPEAKER_01

The little prince. Can't be talking about Aaron, the little prince. Because we still don't know. I'm talking to myself when I said that.

SPEAKER_00

I know, but why like what makes you so short?

SPEAKER_01

He's uh the little prince. Like, what couldn't be what can who could be looking for him? I mean, they still want to do the blood test, but Claire and Christian and Christian's estate wouldn't be looking for him necessarily.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but Claire also has a mother. Who we knew was in Los Angeles.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, but I think that's too obvious. Okay. Because if it like like like what you call it, said.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, sorry, that was the chair.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, sure. If it was something like that, it wouldn't be done in secret. If it was like, did I try and do it again? There you go. If it was like if it was fraternity or something, like I want my they wouldn't be knocking at the door, it wouldn't be done in like men in block. So I don't think it was her.

SPEAKER_00

You know, if I fart, I'll just tell you I farted.

SPEAKER_01

It's not even smell it, and a little disappointed in that. Now, um, so let's see. So it could be the Aaron, they can be talking about Whitmore, 1954 Whitmore. Or Charlie. Charlie's namesake.

SPEAKER_00

Charlie? Charlie.

SPEAKER_01

Charlie? Okay. Um, okay, those are my guesses. And I'm whoa, I'm stupid now. You took you sucked every brain power I had out of my head.

SPEAKER_00

All the rest of them?

SPEAKER_01

Whatever, the last one.

SPEAKER_00

All right, that will do it for this episode. This week's call to action is to check out our spotlight episode that will also drop today. And listen for Mama D's instructions on the uh on how we're gonna spy on somebody and who and what we need. And why we need it, and why we need it.

SPEAKER_01

So go permission if you choose to accept it.

SPEAKER_00

Uh-huh. I like that.

SPEAKER_01

Do it.

SPEAKER_00

Anyhow.

SPEAKER_01

You know you want to.

SPEAKER_00

Thank y'all for chilling with us. And as always, drink responsibly, do not drink and drive. And until next time, I'm Lisa.

SPEAKER_01

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_01

You just did.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. All right, we're out of here. Bye.
