original episode air dates: 9/21/05 & 9/28/05

In this episode we take an extremely deep dive into the episodes with a guest host. We know the episode is long but Alex swears his presence means this is the best yet so we left it long. That's what she said.

We also get into race issues, doctor patient emotions, and imaginary relationship scenarios.

SPEAKER_06

Are you recording?

SPEAKER_08

Yes. Are you gonna start laughing? I wasn't so you said something. Shit. I was ready. Shit. This is to say something. Start it off.

SPEAKER_06

This is like an awkward threesome right now.

SPEAKER_08

I've never been in an awkward one, but okay.

SPEAKER_01

Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips. Every week we discuss an episode of Lost in Order. We are your hosts. I'm Lisa.

SPEAKER_08

And I'm Ragnus.

SPEAKER_01

And today we have a guest with us.

unknown

Hi.

SPEAKER_01

A special guest. A very special guest.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know how special I am, but okay.

SPEAKER_01

Say hi.

SPEAKER_06

Hello.

SPEAKER_01

Say hi, Gracie. Hi, Gracie. What are you drinking today?

SPEAKER_08

Well, I'm starting off with Stella. That's gonna be my first one. And of course, that's gonna probably change to another Stella and then go to the peach wine and maybe the White Sangria, depending on how long this recording lasts.

SPEAKER_06

Uh you're trying to get shit face today.

SPEAKER_08

If I was trying to get shit face, I'd plug the Patron Silver.

SPEAKER_01

But I have iced tea lemonade with vodka in it.

SPEAKER_08

Statin Island iced tea. Go ahead. That's why I renamed it. I renamed it. Yes. Stop calling it that.

SPEAKER_05

White girl iced tea?

SPEAKER_08

No, I think the white girl iced tea is still the Long Island iced tea. What are you drinking?

SPEAKER_06

I am double dipping. I am, of course, drinking Stella.

SPEAKER_04

Double dipping.

SPEAKER_06

Well, Agnes, you know me. We just had this conversation prior.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he just can't choose just one.

SPEAKER_06

And uh, I'm also drinking a bullet bourbon with it, also. With my uh Death Star ice cube or ball cube.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, in this episode. Right. So the episode. I finished my beer though, so I'm a little sad.

SPEAKER_01

We just started and you've already finished. I know.

SPEAKER_06

Is that most of your relationships?

SPEAKER_01

Do you want to go get another one? You wanna pause?

SPEAKER_06

Or most of your partners?

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Fucking with him? Yeah, hold on. Pause the recording. I'll be right back. You know what? I'm really excited about this episode. What that I have that I have a fun fact at the end of my recording. At the end of this.

SPEAKER_01

Can you stop? This is like sitting here with a five-year-old.

SPEAKER_06

She's following suit.

SPEAKER_01

Two five-year-olds. She's not distracting me.

SPEAKER_06

She's distracting me with other ways.

SPEAKER_01

Put this whole thing on the fucking internet.

SPEAKER_08

I think you should. Maybe he'll behave himself in the future.

SPEAKER_06

Agnes. How long have you known me?

SPEAKER_08

I know it's never gonna happen. I'm actually excited for this season. Because I figured, okay, people watched it for like six years in a row, and they're still like lost fanatics. Maybe season two would be something better. And I gotta say, I had a lot more notes these last two episodes that I've had in the past. So I'm now like a 98%.

SPEAKER_06

You still need to bring that number up.

SPEAKER_08

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_06

Just because I had to watch these two episodes, and just the sound of it like brought me back to the frustration, but also the love of this show. Just because it's like I haven't watched it in since it aired. I'm not like uh crazy over here that needs to watch a show like well, a series, like 20 times because I love it so much. I'm like one and done. I'm like, yeah, it was good. Keep it moving. But just the lost.

SPEAKER_08

There's a couple that I feel that way. I'll watch it and maybe maybe like 10-15 years later I end up watching it again, but I won't re-watch it over and over and over and over again.

SPEAKER_06

See, I'm only like that with my nerdom, and that's just anime and like cartoons, really.

SPEAKER_01

People can read books over again, watch a single a favorite movie over again. But when I do it to a television show, I'm the crazy one.

SPEAKER_06

No, I'm I'm good with books. I can read there's I have a few titles, well, qu a lot a lot more than a few that I can reread and reread and reread. But TV shows, uh, there's nothing that like for you grabs me that I was like, oh my god, I would love to re-watch this.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so that just makes you weird.

SPEAKER_06

I yeah.

SPEAKER_08

To each his own. I still haven't gotten like it. Lost hasn't enveloped me. I'm not in I'm not it has yeah, I'm not there. I'm sorry. Maybe by the end of the series I'll be at uh at 180, 170%. If I'm not there now, I won't be there. Alex doesn't think I'll be there. If I'm not there now, then I won't be.

SPEAKER_06

No, exactly. I don't like it, you know, certain shows grab people, and this show, like it had that like mystery, the constant character, like differential where it was like everyone changed and developed and grew with every episode, and it was just like for certain people, it's like well, it's not it's not good.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, when we did fan favorites, one of our guest hosts made a point to say that we haven't even met most people's favorite character yet. And don't say who you think it is, but I think you know.

SPEAKER_06

I know nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, but even like think about it like that. We're still very early in the stages, and it turns into a different show. Each season has a different focus, and we're still yeah, we we're like 25 episodes in, but we're still very early on, and the show hasn't even blossomed, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, I can kind of agree with that. Oh, Agnes, just uh because I listened to the podcast, your boy is a dick. Who's your boy?

SPEAKER_08

Locke?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so I just like every single character Terry O'Quinn plays. So I I'm slightly biased in my like he could as an actor, he can do no wrong. I'm just speaking for the like I am biased.

SPEAKER_06

No, you are biased.

SPEAKER_08

Hi, Terry! One day he's gonna give us a shout-out.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely not.

SPEAKER_01

I am gonna start by doing the synopsis for man of science, man of faith. In flashback. Early in the morning at St. Sebastian Hospital, two victims of a car accident are brought in. The female victim, Sarah, is first pushed through the ER on a stretcher with a piece of steering column sticking out of her chest. Would you stop? Seriously, put your arm back where it was.

SPEAKER_06

I was just getting comfortable.

SPEAKER_01

No, you weren't. Jack walks in as the surgery immediately. Jack walks in as the surgery immediately turns to action. The paramedic informs Jack what had happened. Tire blue, car jumped the divider, went head on with an SUV. As Jack asks where the driver of the SUV is, a second stretcher containing Adam Rutherford is steered into the ER.

SPEAKER_08

Uh-huh. Am I the only one that didn't catch the guy's name in the SUV? I just saw Adam Rutherford. Like, I just didn't catch his name when they aired it. I was like, he was just doomed.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, they no, they said it quite specifically.

SPEAKER_08

So you can hear it.

SPEAKER_06

So you can hear it.

SPEAKER_08

Now I have to make much note of that.

SPEAKER_06

Do you not know why?

SPEAKER_08

Do you know why they said the name? No.

SPEAKER_06

Alright, well, while she finishes her synopsis.

SPEAKER_08

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. Why you while you f while she finishes the synopsis, why don't you think about Rutherford?

SPEAKER_08

I know that oh, Shannon.

SPEAKER_01

That's Shannon's relative.

SPEAKER_08

Gotcha. Is it his father? Is it her father? No, he died. Didn't he die? That's why they said his father died and the money. Okay, shut up. Leave me alone. I got it eventually.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, you got it. You got it. Jack has to make a decision whether to operate on Adam or the woman. Jack focuses his attention on the woman, and as he saves her life, Adam dies on the table with the time of death at 8:15 a.m. There goes the number again. The woman is saved, and after Jack is about to leave the ER, she mumbles. The interns question what she said, and Jack says, she said she has to dance at her wedding. Jack leaves the woman and continues to mumble the same words. So this is now the second Jack centric episode where someone in Shannon's life dies.

SPEAKER_08

That's just, I mean, okay. So I get coincidence, but everyone that fucking plane had connections outside is Australia. Like I get like at the airport and in Australia, because you know, shit happens, but come the fuck out. What are the odds? And they're all gonna fucking die in the plane.

SPEAKER_06

But that kind of is the point where they literally die on the plane. Wow. Wait, you think that that's right, you think that everyone's dead?

SPEAKER_08

No, but the world thinks they're dead. Well, well, okay, right now I think the world thinks they're dead. But the same token, I had an epiphany. I did have an epiphany like a couple episodes back, that this is the afterlife. And when they and this is their time to learn something about themselves, and when they learn something that when they die on the island, they actually move on. That was my um my thought.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I'm I'm I I'm kind of a little behind.

SPEAKER_08

I will so but so I my opinion really goes back and forth between my epiphany, you know, my unbot my unsubstantiated theory to and this this stems from when Boone died, right? Right. Yeah. A little bit after Boone, maybe the episode after that. Anyway, right, right, right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But but Boone's death was the catalyst of that epiphany.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know. I remember that I was going to sleep and I hear your fucking voice in my head talking about lost, and then I was dozing off. I'm like, wait, what if they're already fucking dead? And I'm like, fucking Lisa.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, because we were preparing for the season one recap. And you sent me the text. Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I I I will tell you that when you're not watching anything. No, no, I'm not, I'm not spoiling anything. I I'm not giving you that kind of satisfaction.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Other satisfaction suck.

SPEAKER_06

We had the theory of the afterlife like scenario while watching the show.

SPEAKER_01

Purgatory is a very popular opinion.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. And and we can say that this was before the, you know.

SPEAKER_01

But I'm gonna neither confirm nor deny that theory.

SPEAKER_06

Well, regardless of that, our purgatory, you know, process. Was you know, our internet level at that time wasn't as highly, you know, as it is now. You you couldn't just Google everything and like get everyone's opinion. It was like you had a theory, you thought about it, you talked about it with coworkers or friends or whatever, but water cooler talk. Yeah, you know, but now it's like you go online and you have 10 billion theories on a show.

SPEAKER_08

So it's kind of annoying because it's times when I'm trying to up something. If I'm being, you know, one of those fake like articles about stupid shit like TV couples, like you know, stupid things like that. And I'm scrolling through and like in a loss, like fuck, and I have to close the article because I'm trying to avoid spoilers. It's annoying as fuck.

SPEAKER_01

It it'll get easier, it'll get easier. Let's keep going. Later, when Jack returns to check up on Sarah, she asks the fate of the man she hit. And Jack tells her that he died in the ER. Sarah begins to cry. She is confused as to why she can't feel anything. Jack tells her the probability of her regaining the ability to walk is extremely unlikely. And as we know, she obviously did because you know, we saw the wedding.

SPEAKER_08

Christian Shepherd saw the events leading up to the wedding. We didn't see the ceremony.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we did.

SPEAKER_08

Remember uh, oh, we did see the ceremony. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember them. I just remember things that he keeps saying. He's like, I was married. So now I'm like, Well, did they get married? Fuck in my head.

SPEAKER_01

Christian Shepherd interrupts the two and calls his son over to have a word with him. Christian chastises Jack's inability to give hope to people, saying, People are more inclined to hear that 1% chance that everything is okay. Jack tells his father that to tell Sarah anything different would be giving her false hope.

SPEAKER_08

This scene, I know I I was probably in the minority and not particularly liking Jack as a person, but this kind of reinstated, this is just hearted my resolve. Like he's really not personable, he's not a personal person at all. And okay. I mean, he gets he has his moments of light bulbs go off, and I give that to him. But for all his father's issues, I think the whole drinking thing that happened in season one, was that a one offer, or was that something that's always happening? You don't know.

SPEAKER_01

We will get there.

SPEAKER_08

You don't know yet. We will get there. You won't so I'll find out. I'm like, well, you know, he seems, I mean, other than that one scene that we know of, he's appears to be a good surgeon at this point. He's had accolades and all this, he's a respected surgeon. Are you talking about Jack or his father? His father. Okay. So other than the drinking, that we as far as we know, is one time only. But up to this point, he's had he hasn't had any issues that we know of. He um and he's personable. So he might be a shitty father, but he his patience like him.

SPEAKER_06

You know what though? As I was I was re-watching this episode, I said the same thing. I was like, and it's and it was like the father's a dick. And I mean, I don't know. For me, when I watched the show, the drinking, it didn't seem like a one-off thing. It seemed like a constant that the way it it appeared in the first season, it wasn't a it wasn't a solitary issue.

SPEAKER_01

This is the first episode that his father is in. I think that you don't see him exactly as a drink.

SPEAKER_06

You don't see him to some extent like glassy-eyed or like inebriated to a degree, and you can, you know, in the first season, you kind of can tell just by the even the staff that works with him that you know they know that he he drinks and they you know they choose not to. I mean, and that was my feeling. It's like when I watched the you know, when you see the first season, it was like you got that like right off the bat that he's an alcoholic. But when you look at Jack versus his father, it's like Jack's like, oh no, motherfucker, you're gonna die. Like, you're not gonna walk, you're not gonna do this. And his father's like, yo, I'm a drunk, but I I can at least comfort people.

SPEAKER_08

You know, I mean, to be quite honest, as a patient, and I'm and I'm very vocal to my medical professionals, as a patient, I would prefer Jack. I would prefer the the I don't give a fuck if you're an asshole. I don't give a as long as you do your job, do it right and save my motherfucking life. Personally, in real life, prefer Jack.

SPEAKER_06

Why can't I kind of agree with you?

SPEAKER_08

You're so Jack's father. I want to say Jack's father on TV.

SPEAKER_06

You know what? You want a version of Jack where they can tell you the truth, but the way Jack listen, when you watch the show, you know, it, you know, even with the whole, you gotta realize in the show there's four alpha males and really only one alpha female.

SPEAKER_01

But, you know, like who are your four alpha males?

SPEAKER_06

It's Saeed, Jack, Locke, and Dickhead.

SPEAKER_01

I could mean so many.

SPEAKER_06

No, you know who your dickhead is. The one that you love. Sawyer.

SPEAKER_08

He's an alpha personality. He's not an alpha. I don't he's not an alpha within the group per se, but he's an alpha personality, I think.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, he is no no. There when you think about it, there those are the four alphas.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Honestly, there is no, you know, like Jin. Jin is he he's alpha, but he's he's only alpha to his wife.

SPEAKER_08

I don't even think then he's no to his wife. No, no, even he he only became alpha to his wife when he was stressed out over his father-in-law's.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. So, like, he's that's not even a real alpha at all. Honestly, honestly, I misspoke because there's two alpha females. Because those two women are the only strong women on the island.

SPEAKER_08

Are you talking about son?

SPEAKER_06

Son?

SPEAKER_08

I see son. I see son as she's a quiet alpha, absolutely.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, she's the alpha. It's just she's you know, she's chosen to like, you know, step back and because she doesn't need to, like I said, to explain to the sheep.

SPEAKER_08

Like she's she respected enough the money.

SPEAKER_06

When you need her to step up, she's she's always the one to like you know, step up and be that voice of reason. And you know, even when she when you think about it, when she spoke English, that was like it was her like, listen, you know what? Everyone shut the fuck up, like and relax.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and even when Jack was working on Boone, she she reigned in Jack from going off the deep end, and I think that's

SPEAKER_08

comes from her her position of birth she was always like she her father was a rich powerful man and when you come from a family of powerful people you are con if you're a good person I and she's a good person she has that confidence and knowing that people listen to her regardless no she made a choice to to be dominated but that's not her that's not her role that's not who she is I didn't say she would have never said that I said she comes from a place of people she expects people to respect her irreg regardless of the situation she has a quiet confidence that she needs a question she needs to she doesn't have to voice her confidence it's a cult that she's already been she was born and bred with that sense of power because she was a princess in a sense you know a business world princess imagine our New York mafia princesses they didn't you know it's the same premise same premise like you don't have to go roaring out and like you know she has a quiet confidence that makes her an alpha you know no she is an alpha and and that's what I'm saying absolutely I concur but those are like those are and when you think about Jack you you think about when you look at the flashback for Jack and talking to his father it's like Jack is a leader but when he has to try to comfort and or you know take care of the situation it's like he just immediately goes into dickhead mode and it's just like you know he doesn't want to deal with it and I it's like I'm just gonna tell you the truth I think because he's a leader because he's forced he's like he's like the martyr he's like fine if I gotta be the leader I'm gonna do it grudgingly no no but I mean when he landed on the island I think he when he when when they got on the island it was like yes you know he was kind of forced into that role but as the as the first season progresses you know it's like he's making a choice because when other people are you know like Locke was you know willing to step up and and I don't think Locke ever wanted to step up no no Locke wanted his opinions hurt yes and and that's in a way stepping up and trying to you know show people like you know okay because you realize that you have Jack Sawyer Locke who are like kind of really the main like dosy do motherfuckers that go around each other.

SPEAKER_06

Sawyer is the wild child that you know always has to just disagree with everyone and then you have Jack who's the you know the daddy or like the rational person and then you have Locke who's like the conspiracy theorist who like who who just wants to like go around and go on a whim and be like a conspiracy theorist you know he has bore he can he can help he can put up traps he's useful.

SPEAKER_08

Listen so you can if I was trapped in an island with Locke I would have killed him the first time I got a chance to and I would have been killed right along with him because I have a I have a personality people either love me and hate me have a feeling everyone would have hated me on the island and I would have been like ah you no so back to Jack being the hard ass doctor and I find it a dear endearing that it was his Susan no that's the other one Sarah Sarah Sarah knew it was an S another one was Susan though Sarah um girl who you telling pissed me off um Sarah was still she saw something in Jack and his abrasiveness well you're you're kind of you're kind of jumping the gun a little like well actually going back to the first episode the Jack we you know the fact that they're even getting married obviously there she saw something in him I I don't agree with that but we'll we'll we'll I'll tell you the moment I'll tell you the moment when we get to her synopsis that I was like okay she gets him she gets it she gets him I'll tell you okay Jack has a word with Sarah's fiance Kevin and they discuss her future oh piece of shit you can see it the minute they showed his face Jack says Sarah may need professional care for the rest of her life but Kevin is focused on whether they will still be able to make love front like they would have been asking the same question I would have I would have said the same thing but more of like a you know like not wanting to deal with like the reality when you know you know like the way he said it was like oh shit I gotta take care of this bitch. That was right right because I could get the whole sexual thing because you know what as a like okay I'm gonna tell you why this scene made me just want to take his head and rip it off I had a former friend and there was a Facebook question and they were like if your spouse ended up disabled in a wheelchair will you still take care of them and this person has said absolutely nah that's not what I signed up for and I was like actually technically yeah that's what you signed up for.

SPEAKER_06

I mean don't get me wrong I will I will call her mother to wipe her ass but I don't I'll you know he would have been out looking for the next bitch before I even got out of the hospital he's like this this is not for me and I'll call your mom and I I gotta I gotta go I just it it breaks my heart and it makes me angry like marriage if you're going you don't even have to be marriage but if you engage and get to that point you've already signed up for through sickness and health no but you're Jack's face though I did you saw Jack's face when he said it he you saw his face he said he was like motherfucker like you can even go you heard the record i want I want to use the word I would use but you know it's a podcast so I won't use that word well okay as a black chick I'm like Negro you'd have lost your motherfucking mind okay is that better as a black chick I can say that hey listen where I'm from you could say that technically speaking you just look black so you really can't say it and I'm just listening I bought I bought my card long time ago you invited to the barbecue you great yeah you bring the potato salad are you allowed to bring the potato salad oh definitely okay okay Lisa more about Jack I'm sorry we keep this could be a three hour episode yeah Jack is getting prepped for Sarah's surgery when she calls him over and tells him she knows she will never dance again she jokingly reassures Jack that she may she may be able to roll around instead and invites Jack to her wedding Jack is taken aback by the sudden invite and tells Sarah that he is going to fix her so this was the scene Alex because she's like she like it's okay she told him it's okay well somebody letting Jack off the hook right but I think at that moment as a person got it she she got it she understood the situation she understood where he was coming from and the what was going on in his brain and his heart she got it she got him and I was like the same thing that happens every time he gets let off the hook when Boone let him off the hook boone understood he was trying his best but it was gonna be impossible I mean it's I don't think he gets let off the hook per se it's not let off the hook it's like someone just smacked reality to him like dude like this is reality like it's okay let this go no he jack's problem is that he thinks he's Superman and he can save everybody and I think she read that on his face and the way he spoke to her and she she took that moment and realized and said I know that it's it's not gonna be because he of course never promised anything and the big thing for me in that scene is did you notice the the attendees reaction to when he said I'm gonna fix you no I didn't I don't know my reaction because no when he said I'm going to fix you they panned to everybody and you see everyone like the fuck you just say boy like because it's like one as a doctor you never guarantee anything but two knowing Jack and how he's such a just the that he's a he's a stern like no bullshit I'm gonna tell you you're gonna die or you're not like I think more it was that like they've never seen him they've never seen him yes and I think that was like a big scene because it was like he literally for whatever reason he cared and he wanted to fix her. So it's you know I don't know if it was what it is about him and her in in that situation but he he just wanted to fix her.

SPEAKER_08

And he started off even when they brought her into the emergency room like he had a choice between go and like they're like doctor we need you and he was like it was always her I mean of course you have to go to the one who's has most chance to live let's be honest with you at that time he was already starting to flat line you have to pick the one who has the most chance to live and he's the only and the fact that he's the only doctor in that kind of situation was kind of was not normal to begin with.

SPEAKER_06

They would have had more doctors in the situation so I was like meh I no so I took take it with a grain of salt yes that's that was you know giving him the choice of who I which he didn't really have the choice she was the first one to come in she was the you know the one he was dealing with they brought in the second patient I mean honestly there should have been another treatment surgeon or somebody's advocate let's say that there were other doctors but the the difference between life and death was that moment until by the time another doctor got into the situation maybe from another procedure or from another part of the hospital it was going to be too late.

SPEAKER_01

It was now or never do or die.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah no I mean he didn't they even tell him when they asked for how about Doctor we need you like he was already down like draining down the tubes at that point anyway. So to stop a procedure that could save this patient life to help someone who was already you know already down the you know swirling down the drain to begin with I wouldn't I still would have stayed with the chick. I you know that make I think that was a logical explanation. This is like we go like five minutes into the episode right as far as discussion wise ten ours to our episode but five minutes into the show.

SPEAKER_06

Okay got it well okay you you you you guys wanted to add me and me and you don't talk about things so you know when me and you end up talking about shit it's it's always a back and forth so that's what he said okay I'll just sit I'll just sit here and read and you guys can talk okay so that's what the threesome would be after the surgery Jack takes a jog in a stadium he notices another man who is jogging up the staircase next to him are you stopping me no him I'm stopping him Jack races to catch up to him but rolls his ankle and falls the man comes to Jack's aid and introduces himself as Desmond after taking a look at Jack's ankle Desmond reveals that he was almost a doctor Desmond asks why Jack was running like the devil is chasing him and he discusses Sarah's procedure and how he made a promise he couldn't keep.

SPEAKER_01

Desmond wonders aloud whether he actually did save her but Jack tells him it would be a miracle.

SPEAKER_08

Desmond leaves with the final bit of advice lifted up referring to Jack's ankle there was one notation I made while I was watching the show and the conversation he had with Sarah's former fiance after that conversation is when Jack was like he gave her hope is like he needed like a face-to-face of complete dickness for him to be like oh wait hold up that extent I just got a visual I hate you Alex I need more alcohol it's like he needed that that like oh god what a fucking ass he is you know what hope isn't such a bad thing and if anyone needs hope this woman needs hope if for anything so she could go walk up and leave his ass and I think that was that was his defining moment that's what she needs to walk no it was no I agree with you it was his defining moment it was it was kind of like he put on his big boy pants at that moment and decided to you know like be a human be human yeah sometimes you have to see a bigger asshole to realize oh shit I'm being a little asshole let me just let me just weigh this shit in early the next morning Jack is sitting next to the sleeping Sarah she wakes up and asks whether she is alive or not the two have a brief conversation which then leads Jack to deliver the devastating news he wasn't able to fix her she asks if he is yanking her chain and then asks Jack tests her legs and feet and asks if she can feel it.

SPEAKER_01

Jack and Sarah become very emotional when they realize a miracle has happened and she will recover.

SPEAKER_08

Wait but let's let's get back to the point where would you want your doctor to be crying as he tells you you can't walk like he's he's literally sitting there and saying you're broken I couldn't fix you and then ball out like he realizes he did I think okay before he realized he did I have lived my life where I had to counsel other people through my illness so no I don't want my doctor crying in front of me after I just can't clear exactly I want a physician to be your life closer therapist fuck you I'm not doing this exactly and this is at this point I think she already has some sort of feelings for him I mean I'm not saying she's in love with the dude but she cares about him a little bit more than a patient doctor like she likes him other than you know other than no I don't know I think she likes I don't know I don't say she wants more from him but she likes him as a person other than just more than as a doctor.

SPEAKER_06

I think she I think you're reaching no but I think that she maybe she feels a connection for something something there's a connection that she feels safe or okay and because there's something there other than just a doctor I I I think you guys are are are reaching a little bit too much like it's not it's not really apparent you know yet well maybe maybe it's not her that feels a connection maybe it's him no no I think there that we could say you can see as a woman we we reach the lines you guys can pretty much just like black or white we see the grays maybe he maybe he wanted there to be a connection but there was something that he was feeling already that got him to be so emotional.

SPEAKER_08

Okay I I don't disagree with that point I don't I think that for whatever reason he found the connection with her which made him break protocol in okay and not being a dick but it's not really something that's a it's not something that's apparent it wasn't like something that you invited him to her wedding like she liked him enough but it wasn't like no person enough to say hey come to my wedding I would say she she was in love with the guy but she liked him enough as a person I don't invited to my wedding I mean she's not even invited to your wedding well first of all I just said I wasn't invited to your wedding because your your future husband would not want me there to be fair to be fair I would actually someone I was serious with I was okay this is how we met these are all the pictures of our us going out in public as groups yeah that's his tongue in my ear yes his wife is like that's yes I've seen his dick as a rock yes he yes he propositions me on a regular basis okay builds and builds it up so I mean I think I don't know I think any man with me I think has to be strong period and um on that I I am 99% sure I would give anyone that I'm with confidence enough to know that I'm his and his alone she is about that than she is about this damn show.

SPEAKER_06

Oh my make boyfriend and the fact that it's make believe and it's still not even a hundred well we we all have we have friends in our circle that that you know their significance don't agree with that so just shut it but the man that I'm with that's all his opinions are the only thing that matters so I think he would definitely know that that would never happen like you know I I I am who I am and I'm loyal to a hundred percent and even my friends know I am loyal and I expect the same for my friends I'm not the mob there's only one way out this friendship and I expect the same listen I don't disagree with that at all you may be invited because he probably think it'd be the funniest in the world um first of all he might have a conversation with you prior to that like yo dude listen if if if he even has the the balls to do that you shouldn't even be marrying her because if you do not respect our relationship and the the depravity of what we are then you should not be with her because if you don't accept you don't accept the the childish sexuality that we have with each other you are like having a real conversation with somebody who's not there that's my fake wife motherfucker exactly that's our connection like I I'm sorry that that would absolutely when you find this guy just give him this episode just yeah just like just like listen here listen to this goal this episode and yeah just understand that this bitch is my girl she's your wife but she's my girl I can't I'm looking at my husband no one's ever gonna marry me I swear to God who can't get a date but just on I digress but that situation with her and Jack I don't know if that's what made Jack like kind of turn protocol but I just think that there was something there beforehand. Like it it just seems like the minute she walked into the that she got brought into the ER, there was something pulling him to her.

SPEAKER_08

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

Nothing tangible. It was just like a feeling.

SPEAKER_06

Nothing tangible. It was just like when you when you see the scene, you can kind of see him being his dickest shelf, but like also like taking that time. Because I mean, he immediately thought, if I'm remembering it right, he immediately thought that the person that died was the cause of the accident.

SPEAKER_08

I got that feeling too, but I don't know where I got that feeling from. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

And like when she woke up, she's like, is the guy I hit okay? But he like just kind of glossed over that and was just like, you know, that doesn't matter. Let's talk about you. And when she insisted, he was like, oh no, that guy's dead. But by the way. He gone. He ba.

SPEAKER_08

All right.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_01

No, she already said that. Especially, especially not on a two, a two episode.

SPEAKER_06

She already said that. She goes, never again. Never again.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Shh. On the island. On the island. A man rises from a bump bed and enters the numbers into an Apple computer. He gets dressed and begins his day as the camera moves about the surrounding rooms, which contain an assortment of objects dating from the 1960s to the present.

SPEAKER_06

Pause. I don't recall it showing it was an Apple computer, though. I'm just like that was very specific.

SPEAKER_08

It can only be an Apple for the like for the most part. It was a very old computer.

SPEAKER_06

I know it was DOS, but like I I just I didn't realize it was like it could be IBM.

SPEAKER_08

Apple was the only one.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, no, no. IBM. No. IBM.

SPEAKER_08

I forgot about IBM. I forgot about IBM. You're right.

SPEAKER_06

You gotta realize those. And first of all, IBM was more was more affordable to people because Apple was even Apple was very expensive back then. I mean it doesn't matter.

SPEAKER_01

It was just something that just it says it was an Apple II computer.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

I don't remember. Like I played Carmen Santiago on these things. I didn't I didn't like I didn't really get into the details. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. He puts on some music, begins an exercise routine, has a shower, makes himself some breakfast, and injects himself with something from one of the shelves. He is suddenly interrupted by what seems to be an explosion, and his whole home shakes, stopping the record player.

SPEAKER_06

Can I just say, even though you see it, even though you can see it after he's all by himself, living his own life.

SPEAKER_01

I know what you're gonna say. Desmond the quarantine champion.

SPEAKER_08

I gotta say though, it wasn't because the first couple of seconds, I'm like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

Like you noticed the the paradoxical aspects of it when something was old, so they're recent, some was makeshift of the the law the washing machine, and everything like so old, but then you see like these new washers, washer and dryer, and you could yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I was like, what the actual fuck? But yeah, totally live the life, like especially like especially what we're dealing with right now.

SPEAKER_06

It was just like, oh, that motherfucker got quarantined on fucking blast. Like he could live forever.

SPEAKER_01

If only the rest of us could quarantine so well, this shit would be over already. Yep.

SPEAKER_08

But I got excited when it hurt the explosion. I got excited.

SPEAKER_01

Did you realize what it was as you were watching?

SPEAKER_08

I said, told you Underground City. Like, you know, like underground world. Oh, but told you.

SPEAKER_06

I have to say, that was that was a actually a very good usage of scenery because you start off the season with the randomness of a single person doing like mundane mundane, regular, like scheduled but the scene that he's doing it in is kind of weird. You're like no no, exactly, cuz because you you kind of you kind of wonder, is this a flashback of something or I'm sorry, bunny honey.

SPEAKER_08

But you beat me to it, damn I have to do with the children. Okay, I have I don't know, yeah, I know you don't know Alex, but every time if you send me a text or have to text you like randomly, I tell Lisa. Like, hey, by the way, your husband's crazy. Or hey, by the way, I just text Alex XYZ. Like, I'm gonna text some buddy honey. Like and I don't want drama. I really I don't I don't live for drama. I don't like drama. I try to do, I'm I I really try to be a I think I'm a I think I'm a good person. I have really good intention. Shut up, Alex, that look in your face at it all. Um I try to, I try to hide it.

SPEAKER_06

I'm sorry, I tried to hide it.

SPEAKER_08

So I chew what I can't do to respect the people in my lives.

SPEAKER_06

I mean listen, everything is situational. It's you know, we never know what we're going to do until we do it. So at the end of the day.

SPEAKER_08

To be fair, there are some things you definitely know you ain't gonna do or will do. So there is some famous thing.

SPEAKER_06

Just because you know you're not going to do me does not mean it's not gonna happen.

SPEAKER_08

What? As you say that you sit next to your wife. Think about it. Anyway, think about that rapish right now. I think it's not definitely. I don't see anymore.

SPEAKER_06

All right, can we get back to the synopsis?

SPEAKER_01

The man the man rushes to arm himself and uses some kind of security system made up of a series of mirrors to look down the hallway. As his gaze reaches further and further through the complex, it continues up a shaft that reaches high up and eventually to the faces of Jack and Locke. They are peering down, sitting around the now open hatch. Okay, do you remember back, back, back, back, back, when Locke and Boone were sitting trying to figure out how to open up the hatch, and Locke tells Boone the story of Michelangelo and how he would sit and stare. And for four months he sat and he stared. And Boone tells him, so are we just gonna stare at it for four months?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I remember that vaguely. Yeah, I remember it.

SPEAKER_01

It hasn't been four months island time, but from the time that they said that to the time that they get it open, it's four months our time.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, that's cute.

SPEAKER_06

Wait, so she just hit you with a fact that you didn't know about.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so if you listen to our podcast, you'll know that she always hits me with things that I don't know because I don't watch the show. Wow, yeah. So the fun part is that I'm gonna throw one at her later.

SPEAKER_06

I do listen to the podcast. I may not be up to date, but I do listen to this podcast in support of my wife and my wife.

SPEAKER_08

We're gonna have if you'll have very upset, offended people after this episode, or people propositioning all of us. I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

Well, first of all, if anybody is upset at listening to this, well, if they're not upset about listening to you guys just from the get, and then you add me, you're not supposed to be listening to this to begin with, especially with me, because I I feel that I alienate a large group of people off the bat. You know me, I'm I'm not well.

SPEAKER_08

And you eliminate the rest of them, so but can I have to ask a question?

SPEAKER_06

Did anyone any did you guys discuss the fact that Hurley saw the numbers and like was adamant about not opening the shop?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah season one um finales, yes.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, I j I just want to make sure.

SPEAKER_08

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Alright.

SPEAKER_06

I wasn't there for that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because you were in Florida. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. Both you bitches.

SPEAKER_08

As your wives, we need to know where you're at. We had fun. That that was that one.

SPEAKER_01

Jack expresses reservations. Oh my god. Jack expresses reservations about entering the shaft, noting shut up, noting that they should wait for the sun to come up before anything is done. Locke, on the other hand, feels that their entry should be not should not be delayed, even after Kate points out that the back of the hatch door reads quarantine. Remember when I was telling you that I couldn't wait to get to season two because it's so relevant?

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, now I see why. I was like, um, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

He's the core he he is the quarantine boss.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, they they probably don't have that shit on the island because you know, how would they get it? It's good. COVID free.

SPEAKER_06

But can I can I say something though? It's like when you saw the flashback of Jack with Desmond, how did you I mean for me when I watched it originally, I already connected the two. Like, how could you not the hair, the hair, like the profile was the same. And it was just like okay.

SPEAKER_08

The actor that plays Desmond, I'm familiar with him anyway. So there's certain actors that I know now, even though I didn't watch Vost, I see I remember like commercials. I remember like I don't like I never watched the show, but I remember Lost was a popular show. So it wasn't like I was completely oblivious to it. I remember commercials, I remember these things.

SPEAKER_06

So I'm like, I'm not surprised.

SPEAKER_08

I'm in this boat.

SPEAKER_06

I'm in the same boat with you because like she knows she knows names, but I I can recognize almost everyone's faces. It's like, well, this person's gonna be a main character because you know this is a known actor. Like it's not like this is like a bullshit actor that they're just gonna have for like an episode and kill off.

SPEAKER_08

Like with Anne Lucia, even though she wasn't known then, she's known now, and she's known for being on Lost. But I know her, I know her prior to Lost. See, I don't remember prior to Lost 2000. I remember her fast, I remember I think Fast and Furious for me was when she became out there.

SPEAKER_06

Right, she became out there, and then like I know like also she lived next door to my cousin, so like that was a big thing.

SPEAKER_08

So I know when they when I saw her in that scene from last season, I'm like, oh, she's gonna be back because I remember her being on this show. So it's kind of like it's kind of a spoiler, but you can't help the spoiler.

SPEAKER_06

But it, you know, you're a professional TV watcher, so when you see certain faces, you already know it's not going to be a there's something off.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_06

Like even the science, like even the science teacher, he is a known actor. He's been in a ton of you know shows and everything. Oh, you don't who got killed at the end of the season?

SPEAKER_08

The end of what no no no I'm trying to think what uh what else he went into. I'm trying to think other things.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, he was he's in a ton of stuff, like but he's like that kind of actor that like No, but I was gonna say it's like when you're watching Law and Order and they have like a really well-known actor on it, and they bring him in for like a mini interview, and you're like, Yeah, you have something to do with it because like you know, this this really well-known popular person is not just gonna be on it to uh say uh he went that way.

SPEAKER_06

Right not for nothing, SVU, SVU.

SPEAKER_01

Even if she was dating him at the time.

SPEAKER_06

The beginning of SVU is an Oz, is an Oz like you know, revival show. Like, because all the either killers or guest cops were from Oz.

SPEAKER_08

I never watched Oz.

SPEAKER_06

Oh.

SPEAKER_08

But you know, but I don't know if you noticed with Law and Order, like the original one, they would have they'll do like a test episode. They have someone come in as maybe a defense attorney for season one or no, like a whole episode. And they ended up being like a major character, like the lieutenant.

SPEAKER_06

No, but SVU was SVU was particular because I didn't know that. Yeah. A view it is so cool. A lot of the people that either were either were a cop or a killer, they were from Oz because you had um what's his name from SVU originally.

SPEAKER_01

Stabler.

SPEAKER_06

Stabler. He was on he was on Oz. So all his co-stars ended up flocking to that show.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Similar writers.

SPEAKER_06

I'm not I'm I'm not a professional TV watcher like you. I don't I don't pay attention to that. She doesn't even know that. Like, I was like, oh, he was on Oz. But I was on Oz.

SPEAKER_08

If it kind of connection would have made me want to figure out what was the underlying connection.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I would have been Googling up a storm. Like, well, wait, I wouldn't want to know what was.

SPEAKER_01

And there's a lot, there's a lot of also oranges and new black actors that go back and forth to Law and Order. It could also just be proximity because they're based in New York.

SPEAKER_06

There's a well, I'll I'll give you, I'll give you a little, and it's not a spoiler-ish, but there is a Oz character in Lost.

SPEAKER_08

It won't make a difference to me because I've never seen Lost. I mean I've never seen Oz.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Alright. At the same time, at the caves, Shannon and Saeed search the jungle for Vincent, who has runoff. The pair find the dog in a clearing and attempt to catch him, but he runs off again. The two are separated, and while alone, Shannon hears the whisper of in the jungle. Walt appears, dripping wet and speaking backwards. He says, Do you know what he says? You want to know?

SPEAKER_08

Something about buttons. Something about no, something about buttons. I was like, huh? What? How'd you Lisa would tell me? Yeah, how'd you know that? I don't know. I'm like, I actually played it, we played it, we wanted it, we wanted I was like, I give up. I I said Lisa would tell me later. I was like, you should have leave me though. If you were gonna watch me watch an episode, that was the episode you shouldn't still be watching. I was like, I think no, then I put my glasses on, and I was like, can I put these lips?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, I was supposed to start doing that. I think you should you should watch. I think you should watch an episode with her so she can see your reactions because it it it would actually be pretty fucking funny.

SPEAKER_08

No, because just now when I'm catching up on this episode that I didn't know I had to watch, she's texting me as I'm watching. I'm like, shut the fuck up! So I had to like turn the computer around someone like knowledge.

SPEAKER_01

So I was like, I'm trying to watch down and she's missing shit.

SPEAKER_08

I have to I have to watch, I had to take it. Listen to this fucking podcast.

SPEAKER_06

Did you hear did you hear what she just said? Wait, uh time out.

SPEAKER_01

This is a show that you can't look down.

SPEAKER_06

Did you hear? Did you hear what she just said? She goes, This is not a show that you can look down on. When I give her a show, I'm like, listen, this is a really good show. You have to watch it, and she's like, This okay. I'm like, yo, and you know how many times we have to rewind shit because she's too busy doing this, and for the podcast world, she's looking at her phone and she's not paying attention because this woman cannot do two things at once. Our kids will be yelling at her, and she's in her phone and oblivious, the world disappeared as she's in her phone.

SPEAKER_08

And not for nothing, if it's simple words, I can look up and still type a little bit, like, but I got the I have to take notes on what the episode is because if I don't, I won't remember what I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_06

No, she has been talking, but for something like no, she tried to do the same thing for me. She's like, Do you want a notebook? And I was like, Um, no. She goes, but you're not gonna remember what you want to say. I was like, um, I'm pretty sure if it comes up in conversation, I will remember. And so far, I'm four for four on the topics that I wanted to say, so I'm pretty much good.

SPEAKER_08

But then she wants you to write notes, but you can't look down to write the notes because she wants you to watch a TV show.

SPEAKER_06

Listen, I want you to know. You can't multi she she can't she can't multitask.

SPEAKER_01

That's can we just continue? I'm feeling it.

SPEAKER_08

As much as I love you, you cannot watch me watch the TV show because I'm about to block you on what that means.

SPEAKER_06

She listen, she will make it, she will make it a personal go just to like attack you as you're watching it.

SPEAKER_01

I just didn't want her to miss stuff because I'm gonna get to a part and you're gonna be like, oh shit, I didn't see that.

SPEAKER_06

But you want to think that's because this podcast has so much fun though.

SPEAKER_08

Like that stuff we go back and forth.

SPEAKER_06

No, Agnes, you want to know what's amazing is that as we watch the original when it aired, that's when DVR was out. You know how many fucking times I had to rewind that shit so she can catch something for the woman that loves Lost but couldn't pay attention on the first go-around.

SPEAKER_08

I support anyway messages.

SPEAKER_01

I support what I'm gonna continue.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So Walt said don't push the button, button bad.

SPEAKER_08

What the fuck? What button? Don't push what button. What the hell is he talking about? And I had Question, why is he drenched and then the fucking like why does he look like he was talking drowning? Like, what the fuck happened to Walt? I was like, where did he get taken from?

SPEAKER_06

Where did he get taken from?

SPEAKER_08

I feel like, but okay, no, I know where he got taken from. But the last like he was talking, he was being taken onto one boat to another boat. He this scene that she saw, he was like talking underwater. Look, it looked like he was talking underwater.

SPEAKER_01

Well, as if he's already dead.

SPEAKER_08

And it's hung at that.

SPEAKER_01

So what happened in between him getting taken and him appearing in the jungle? But then when Saeed comes back, he's Walt is not there. So what the fuck happened? So now you've got Walt mysteriously appearing and appearing wet, speaking in a weird backwards language, and saying, Don't push the button button bad. Now, do you want to get into this now or at the end? At the end, at the end, at the end. Okay.

unknown

All right.

SPEAKER_08

Sorry, Lisa would never do we'll never record with Alex again. Because between me and Alice, she has two five-year-olds on her hands. I love you. I know.

SPEAKER_06

Because we have the same mentality. I'm just worse than you.

SPEAKER_08

Actually, I'm just being good because we recorded.

SPEAKER_01

During the walk back from the hatch, Hurley shares with Jack his story about the numbers inscribed on the outside of the hatch, but is disappointed by Jack's response.

SPEAKER_06

Jack being his dick self.

SPEAKER_01

But Hurley also started to talk about his string of bad luck. And the um even the chicken joint where he worked, that it got hit by a meteor. And we didn't see that in the meteorite. We didn't see that in his original episode. So that's another thing that happened.

SPEAKER_08

I don't think he was being a jerk per se. I think he was like, okay, all this fantastical stuff. All right. Oh, but you're in a you in a say asylum. Like, I feel like he was kind of sort of like, okay, okay. Oh, interesting bit of news. I think it was kind of because he's like, they're just numbers. I know I believe in it. I think I he was dismissing it all as bullshit.

SPEAKER_06

Yes. He was he was just dismissing him. And like even again, when we originally watched the show, it was just like we're we love mystery and we love everything. And it's just like it's Hurley is the only non-dick person on the show.

SPEAKER_08

I love Hurley, he's the only person I got the negative to say about.

SPEAKER_06

But when you when you think about the show, even up to this point, he is the only non-dick on the show. Like everyone has their hangups, their bullshit, their insecurities, and not that Hurley doesn't have insecurities.

SPEAKER_08

But he's a nice guy overall. Good heart.

SPEAKER_06

At the end of the day, all you want to do is hug him and cuddle. Like you want to cuddle Hurley. You know what? I'll cuddle Hurley.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. And what I don't understand is why can't he have won the lotto and be a hundred have like Edward dismisses that part? Like, why couldn't he be rich?

SPEAKER_01

Like most people, like, why why is that so I think it's when he tells people that he was in an insane asylum that it it but when he told when he told Charlie about it, he didn't tell that he's an insane asylum.

SPEAKER_08

He just said, Oh yeah, I have 150 points. Like he he was like, Oh fuck you, don't tell the truth then. Why can't it why can't he not be rich? Right, whether you want a lot or not. What the fuck? Although this is like pre-Seattle when rich people wore sketchers, like right now within the world where you can't tell. Like I see it, and like in the where I live, I've seen, okay, so I live in a neighborhood, I live in an area where unlike the big cities, people who when I see people drive Porsche's and Bentley's, it's because they can afford it like I can afford my Honda. You know what I mean? So it's so they can actually afford it and and not paying like $80 in rent. But you know what I mean? They this is so but I see this in like the Piggly Wiggly parking lots, and it but you can never tell who these people are in the store because they're all wearing dockers, and like you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_06

I mean I need you to take a step back. What's the piggly wiggly?

SPEAKER_08

It's a grocery store, it's a grocery store in the Midwest. Leave me alone. But yes, but that that's the whole point why I said piggly wiggly, because it's like you see a Porsche SUV, you see a Bentley, you see these things, and if you go into the store, you would never be able to look at the massive customers in there and tell which one of these people own it because they all look alike, and that's just but that's the world we live in now. Also, this is the area we live in. But as a whole, even we've got we've gotten accustomed to people with money dressing like normal people. So I guess in the 90s, was it 2004 actually? When does it come out?

SPEAKER_01

2004? 2005, yeah. But people, yeah, by the time you find out he won the lottery, it's 2005.

SPEAKER_08

But people were still casual, rich back then. So why couldn't he be rich? I don't like I'm offended for him. Like he still could have been rich. Don't read a book wise cover.

SPEAKER_06

At the end of the day, it's like that's a almost almost like a systematic prejudice because you can never you can never assume who has money or not. Like, just because I walk into a place with Tim's and a hoodie does not mean that I can afford to buy whatever the fuck I want.

SPEAKER_08

To be fair, right now, I think this day and age, that doesn't really make a difference as far as for the most okay. You know what? Because I just know being realistic and working in retail, I've seen people with money. I've worked with very rich customers, and I've seen them dress like normal human beings when they're out shopping. So maybe I'm taking it from a different I'm my opinion's a little skewed, maybe personally. Yeah, I I have I'm sorry, we have I'm sorry, I keep cut because the delay I keep cutting you off. There are hello, we have like rap icons and artists, and and when they go shopping and they're out on the bath, they still dress like normal human beings. And the only reason you can tell that they're rich is because you've seen them on TV. You know what I mean? They're not dressing any different, their personal is not any different, right? And I like to think as a whole, especially with the higher-end stores, the intelligent, like the old school, and the old school retailers, like who know, I think I like to say that they know money doesn't come in clothes per se. Because they've seen it all. Like the old school sales associates, the old school, because they've seen it all. There's some newer ones that are just kind of like stupid. The boutiquey ones, I think, are just don't realize it. Like the boutique shops.

SPEAKER_06

I'll disagree because I've had I have one situation that I was in, and then one situation where one of my cousins just told me about was the situation I was in, was one of my co-workers, well, one of my workers, who was an idiot, wanted to go buy his girlfriend a Louis Vuitton bag, which he got off of her uh wish board.

SPEAKER_08

Why is she as an idiot? I just have to ask. Is it because the bag or because the person received the bag?

SPEAKER_06

Both.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, I have a personal, I guess I think I'll tell you about my put my personal opinion on Louis later.

SPEAKER_06

I'll put it to you like this. This is someone who chose to gift expensive items to someone that just wanted that. Like Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Wasn't the move per se.

SPEAKER_06

It was so he asked me and another another of my coworkers to go with him to the Louis Vuitton store on Fifth Avenue. We walk into the place, he takes the picture of her bag and shows it to the to the seller. And we're in the store, and security is grilling us up and down. And he's about to purchase this $1,800 bag, and security is just looking at us like, you know, what are you guys doing here? And we're like, we look at him as like, boss, step down. My man's about to buy a bag for his girl. Oh, I I I wasn't boss, go over there. My man's about to buy a bag. He buys the eighteen hundred dollar bag, and security is still looking at us like, why are we here? You know, I what makes it worse, what makes it worse is security was black.

SPEAKER_08

And I'm not surprised. I feel I get it from both sides, and it pisses me the fuck off when I hear those stories and I see that happening. Because but working in I used to work in retail, I know old school associates, old school sales. I'm talking about like I'm not talking about like the ones that are just now 20 today. I'm talking about those that have been in the business for 20 years, know their shit, and they're not as quick to jump on it. Because you find the ones that are the ones, you find that the the the security and the social and the sales associates that are the quick to discriminate are relatively young. And I so I see both are true. Can I can that's not on the fence, right? That makes sense. No, no, no, no. I think that's a good thing.

SPEAKER_06

That makes sense because that goes that goes to the story that I just spoke of with my cousin. My cousin was with one of my one of my other cousins, and they were they were practicing uh softball. So it was like, oh, it's lunchtime. Let's go to Peter Luga. They're in sweats, hoodies, and they go, they order, they get whatever the hell they get. And my cousin's trying to get the waiter to get another drink. Mind you, it's a Diet Coke. It's not like it's alcohol.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_06

So he keeps trying to track the guy down, the guy keeps ignoring him to the point where the busboy notices and is like, what do you need? And brings him his drink. So my cousin pays the bill and doesn't leave a tip. As they're walking out, the waiter approaches him and says, What was wrong with the service?

SPEAKER_08

Because you weren't there, you asshole.

SPEAKER_06

So he goes, I have no problem with the service, but the only person that deserves a tip is the person that was paying attention to us. So he goes to the busboy and and pulls off $200 bills and hands it to the busboy and goes, He's the one that was paying attention to us and walks out. The manager sees all this and runs after my cousin and is like, I'm so sorry. My cousin's like, listen. He's like, oh, take the money back. He goes, No. You should hire better people to deal with your customers instead of judging people for their appearance. Because if you judge people for their appearance, I should have knocked your your guy out from the onset.

SPEAKER_08

If that's what you expected from me.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly.

SPEAKER_08

I had a situation. I know we're going off topic, but this is gonna make for a great Patreon episode.

SPEAKER_06

I had a situation episode. I had motherfuckers should be paying for this conversation.

SPEAKER_08

I've never I had a situation. I don't remember what this is a memory I know I have, but I can't remember all of it. I can't remember. And someone had said about they weren't even talking about me. They're talking about oh, something about black people and black people or the way they act or something. And I looked at them like you lost your fucking mind. I must have been like early teens. And I just looked at them like the fuck? And they said to me, Oh, not you, not the not your kind of life.

SPEAKER_03

And I was like, oh.

SPEAKER_08

I already knew where you were going when you and I was like, oh, and I was like, but and I wish and I and this memory popped out of I remember this memory, and the longer I'm thinking about it, I pulled a little bit out. I pulled like more and more from the memory, but I was like, this motherfucker. But and it wasn't something that was new to me then. I realized it then, I knew it, but the fact that they even said it and thought that was okay, I was like, ah, listen, I deal with that on a reason.

SPEAKER_06

All the time.

SPEAKER_08

And I think that's another reason that has a lot to do with where I carry myself as well. One, I think I I do I do think I'm better than some people. I can't help it. I'm a little bit of a snob.

SPEAKER_01

But that's not based on your color.

SPEAKER_08

No, that's just because I was raised.

SPEAKER_01

I am better than that.

SPEAKER_08

That's on your personality. That's not just me. I think my personality has a lot to do with I don't do I see it discrimination all the fucking time. And I get heated, and then people look at me, they're like, oh, well shit, she's pissed, and maybe she should be pissed. But I've never received it, and that makes me even more pissed in a way because of the way they feel the way I act. Oh bouge you, whatever. And I feel that part of it is like I walk into a place as if I'm better than you, you, you, I own this bitch, and people I think feel that, and they kind of like bow down, like not not consciously, and I feel like I have to do that. I feel like I have to, yeah. Two things.

SPEAKER_01

Um I've in speaking like in college with classmates, and and the conversation is always way more unfiltered than it would have been in other yeah, um, but like especially in in a lot of my women's studies classes, I we hear all the time about how, especially in the retail world from like my black classmates, how they always feel like they have to be nicer to the white customers than to the black ones, and even and then it's like why you don't know, but like you feel it's like an unwritten rule, and it's like so stupid.

SPEAKER_06

But I can see how they can feel that way, and I understand it, and it's but it's it's it's a thing, it exists, and this is another this is another podcast, just uh FYF.

SPEAKER_01

I know, but it's okay, Lisa. It's so good. Second thing. Do you remember Simone from junior high school?

SPEAKER_06

Are we really going that bad?

SPEAKER_01

I can't really give you a good description of her. She was she was black, she wasn't thin. She was in your class, she was probably she was very quiet, but a little heavy. She was like an outcast, you know. She didn't really have a lot of friends. I used to talk to her, say hi, whatever. Like, you know, I don't remember half the yeah, I don't know her. And like okay, so she was like the type that if you yo, you just spoke for like a half hour about your cousin. That's all I'd be nice. She was the type of Lisa.

SPEAKER_06

You have to understand something. Lisa's Lisa's stories like have to like she has to set like she could have been done by now. The middle, the middle, the middle, the middle, and then the end.

SPEAKER_01

If I used to offer her a stick of gum, she would ask if she could have an extra one to bring home to her sister.

SPEAKER_05

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, like, but she and and like I'm like, okay, here, you know. So but I remember one day she came in with a shirt and it said black is beautiful. And I wasn't making fun of her, I was like one of the few people who actually spoke to her.

SPEAKER_06

That's a weird shirt to have when you were growing up, though.

SPEAKER_01

And so no, no, that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_06

Like, and I couldn't in that said.

SPEAKER_01

So all I I asked her, Oh, what does your shirt say? And she kind of like, real shy, like almost embarrassed. She kind of like, oh, it, you know, it says black is beautiful. And I was like, Oh, okay. She's like, my mom made me wear it. And she was like, I never ever forgot that. She was so embarrassed by wearing that shirt and felt like she was forced, like she didn't want to. And I was like, it took me a while, but I always feel like that moment stuck with me, and I couldn't understand why until later on, when I understood better, like to me, I'm so used to seeing people of different colors, like it was never really a thing, but it wasn't until later when I more understood racial issues that I understood why she was so embarrassed, and I always felt bad, like that she felt like that about herself, you know.

SPEAKER_08

I um damn, I I think I see it as a now, I see to understand it. And being from a multicultural background, right? We were never brought up on race in general, period, because there's just too much to go into. Um right. Um, but at the same time, I I was still cognitive of the fact that there was like three black kids in the school, but at the same time, it didn't bother me. I will say I never felt that I was singled out, I never felt different, I never felt bad about being that. I was like, whatever.

SPEAKER_01

The only time that I felt different, even though like I'm as white as 99% of the school, well, in elementary school, the only time that I used to feel like I stood out is when my father would come up to the school. Because really, he stood out, yeah. Because think about it, everybody else was white, and so when he would come to the school, I used to feel like, damn, like my parents are not the same as everybody else's parents, and I never saw him sticking out to me.

SPEAKER_08

It didn't seem that way to me. Because I guess I'm just used to I'm I'm just used to like zero, like from zero to a hundred, every shade. I was just used to it.

SPEAKER_01

Like I guess that's funny how you see things within the family, it was fine, but in the school setting, I found myself different because like everybody else's parents were the same color as them or each other, and my father was a different color than me. And I I mean you can understand this.

SPEAKER_08

I love my mother's. Your mom is the opposite, right? But it's and it's so funny though. I never, but it's funny you say that. I never saw it that way. I just I saw I never saw elementary school in that light. I don't think I saw seeing, I don't think I felt different until maybe junior high school. High school was I I loved high school, high school was awesome for me. One of the only white kids in the junior high school. But they felt remember I got because they said I was acting too white. I'm sorry. The fact that it made me Three feet tall and it made me feel bad. Like, wait, you think I act white because I speak a certain way? Right. What's that say about you that only white people could speak so it made me feel so many type of ways? Like Alex is another. I gotta jump into months. There were so many Montel episodes about this. Listen, but high school was fucking awesome. Because it was a lot of minorities in my high school, Brooklyn Tech, big up. Um, at the time I was tons of minorities, a lot of blacks, Hispanics, and Asians. There's a lot of minorities in the school. But ever but within that, we all went well, it was it ranged for different socioeconomic status, but we're all intelligent. Like, but the fact of the matter, we're all the same, we're all fucking technology. So we had that bond. So the fact that we were different races, different area, there were some bougie, quote unquote ghetto, whatever the case may be. I was never made to feel like I wasn't black enough.

SPEAKER_06

You want to know what's hilarious is that I did not have any issue with race until high school.

SPEAKER_08

Really?

SPEAKER_06

I didn't know anything as far as like where I grew up, it was, you know, Brooklyn. So we were multicultural, the technical term, you know, from the door. I was multicultural from Head Start to kindergarten till first to whatever. And then even in junior high school, we were multicultural. I the only thing I knew was who I didn't want to be around. And that was it. It hi kitty. Yeah, you just walk by. So it wasn't until high school where there was a gay community, a significant white community, because that never really existed in my world. A white community never existed.

SPEAKER_01

And for us, like elementary school was super white, junior high school was super black, and then I mean we went to different high schools, but high school is where it all kind of balanced out for me too.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, because like for you elementary, yeah, elementary school was black Spanish, you had white, but and then junior high school was the same thing, and then high school was like to me, it was like shit.

SPEAKER_01

You had gay people, you had really white people, like where honestly, that was really my first experience with Italians and you know, like Italian Irish, whatever, whatever spectrum Chinese, Japanese high school wasn't what we had were like Ban Lam and Yucky.

SPEAKER_06

Mind you, high school Oh and Alexis I mean High School was my learning of gender and everything else. It wasn't I didn't have to deal with that growing up.

SPEAKER_01

High school really was my That's why you were a cocky motherfucker acting like uh any which way because where I grew up I didn't give a fuck.

SPEAKER_06

But you know, you met all those type of people for me in high school. You guys, where you grew up, you had honestly, you guys had the white and the black. Like it was just you know, with a little with a little bit of Spanish mixed in.

SPEAKER_01

Like Well, especially when we got to junior high school, because then because I it was it was more like on the Red Hook side.

SPEAKER_06

I have the the the you know, the this I know about the area you go because I have to hear all the stories about, you know, the area not from her, from the people I work with that you know, grew up in that era, grew up in that, like, you know, and and in just that hole where they're trust me, they're racist, and they try to pretend like they're not racist, and because they feel like, oh, you know, your family technically, you know, we know you, we can say those racist things that we grew up with.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I think I think sometimes it's different. This I think um in context with the people you know, I think there's a there's a difference between being racist and saying racist things uh subconsciously. And you kind of have to give people it's a very small no no no very, very small no no no no no baby's very small, but there's sometimes you have to like and they're like oh shit. When they do that, they're like then you have to that's when you're like, oh, okay, you gotta give them some slack because they're like these are cognitive of but when they're like oh shit, okay, no, and they correct it and they acknowledge the c and acknowledge it, you gotta give people credit for acknowledging and then making changes.

SPEAKER_01

The learning has to start somewhere, but the thing is you can give some slack if they're willing to understand and change, right? But if this is like this is an everyday thing, then slack goes out the window.

SPEAKER_06

You have to understand something. The the people I work with are very old school and very set in their ways.

SPEAKER_08

No, I get you, I get you, it's a different context, right?

SPEAKER_06

And the things they say, even if you check them, it kind of doesn't register. Yeah, they only they only register when they're around that personality. So if they were they're with a black person, they know not, they they they won't say those those those terms, right?

SPEAKER_01

Which they don't think that's they understand exactly what they're saying.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. So it's like it's it's an amazing experience because when you when you try to like talk to people and they they they you can see the difference on how on how they move and how they act.

SPEAKER_08

So I get that, totally get that. I see that all the time.

SPEAKER_06

That's why I say like I'm I love dealing with people because I love breaking people down because they don't understand their own racism at times, and it's just like it's amazing when you catch them. Right. And it's just like and it's just like okay. This is I know the way you originally think.

SPEAKER_08

Here's me playing devil's advocate. Now you have someone asking, generally asking, not trying to bust your balls. Let's say they're generally asking, I'm trying, I can't think of a question right now. Um it's blurred. Fucking you! No, um, if they're asking you a sensitive racist correct question based on race, and they why can't I do this? Or what's the difference between this and this? Uh whatever the case of it, what's the difference between curly hair and why can't you get your hair wet? Let's just say they're asking a black girl, why can't you get your hair wet? I can't think of anything right now.

SPEAKER_05

Really? You weren't there though? You weren't there?

SPEAKER_08

I get it, I get that myself. If someone's asking you, generally asking because they want to know legit, like wait, why can't you? Why don't you do this one?

SPEAKER_01

Why don't you I knowledge starts there? Like the acceptance has to start somewhere.

SPEAKER_08

I feel a lot of people of color get offended when they're even asked, but wait, why how are you being asked? Are you being asked because they want to know, or are you being asked because they want to be as smart as about it? And I get it, people will be as smart as about it, but sometimes you have to think about what's the context. Lisa, you asked me why don't go swimming. The context is she wants to fucking know. Because I never asked you that. I'm saying for example, I'm like, what?

SPEAKER_01

Because you're gonna hate people to do it.

SPEAKER_07

Yo, she took offense. You see, that's what happens with white people when they take offense.

SPEAKER_08

I was like, when the fuck did that happen? No, no, I mean asking me, hey, why can't you? Why don't you why don't you get your hair wet? If I'm like, okay, too.

SPEAKER_06

Because bitch, I just got my hair did, and I'm like, oh, because X, Y, and Z.

SPEAKER_08

And I know that's what she's talking about. I think sometimes we are so well, I feel like I'm we're always on guard because nine ten times it's slick. Nine of the ten times has not been a good reason. But sometimes it's just really oh.

SPEAKER_06

I have to agree, as minorities, as we all are, you are you're always on that press of like on your you're ready to attack because there's always someone trying to, you know, and honestly, I have to say, it has nothing to do with minorities, you know, because I've had situations where someone questioned about where I was from and like try to think of me of you know in a certain way, and it was like motherfucker, I grew up in the in, you know, I grew up in the hood with gangsters and and killers and all this shit. It's like don't try to just because I'm a nice person and I talk or speak in a certain way, try to think that I'm I'm not where I'm from. You know, just because I I'm I'm eloquent and I you know and I speak in a certain term, that doesn't mean anything. I grew up I I grew up, and I had a a real close friend of mine that he he did that, and we and we were in the bar one day and I was telling him stories, and he's like, you know what? Yo, my bad. I was like, I don't know where the fuck I'm from. I said, you don't know what I grew up with, you don't know what I did, you don't know anything about me. I said, I'm a good person, but whatever my lifestyle was, that has nothing to do with or who however I grew up has nothing to do with the person that I am now.

SPEAKER_08

Well, it does in a way, but not in the way people expect it to do.

SPEAKER_06

But none, not in the way that you that you're you're taking my my personality to be.

SPEAKER_08

And before we go on to back to the show, I gotta tell you, I get most of my I don't want to say racist, but most of my negative comments to myself from other black women. Of course, definitely. And I get that all the time. That's why I say why are we so but I can always get that like I'm not black enough attitude. You bitch, I know more about black history and slavery and the black panthers and about our people on the west coast of Africa than anyone else.

SPEAKER_06

And that makes me this is why we're our worst enemy.

SPEAKER_01

I hear I've heard the same shit.

SPEAKER_06

Not that I'm not black enough, but you have you no, she has an Italian enough, she has the double-edged sword. Yeah, no, she has the double-edged sword.

SPEAKER_08

Like that's fine. My mother who's milk white blue eyes, people know she's black. Like black people know she's black. I don't know what it is, but if you like black people don't know my mama's black.

SPEAKER_06

I have a I have a friend like that.

SPEAKER_08

He's yo, he don't look swirly, she don't look swirly, but people know she's black. And I get more of the are you sure you're black enough? You know what I was like, wait, do I have do I have to ask ghetto?

SPEAKER_06

Do I have to like beat you up before you become black enough? Like that's the mentality that people have is that they feel like you have to be, you have to be something, you have something to prove, yeah. And it's just like, yo, I don't have anything to prove. My best friend, I look at him sometimes when he says it. Like, I look at because I was like where you grew up, and like it's kind of not the same, like you get like a half ass. Right, it's just it's just it's just not the same, you know what I'm saying? Like, it's like if anyone ever would like try to check me, and I've had like two people try to do that, and and you know, black guys try to check me, and I was like, I don't know who the fuck you talking to, but I'm like, you got the wrong one right now. I said, because the way I grew up, the way I lived my life.

SPEAKER_08

Listen, I'm not black, but well, if you want to get if you want to get technical, I'm just saying, you know, you fail. You know, like I had an ex-boyfriend, an ex-Puerto Rican boyfriend that told me you're black, you're white, and you're American, you're Indian. Bitch, you're Puerto Rican. Like he was that was that was the ongoing joke. That was a ongoing joke.

SPEAKER_06

That's a good joke, though.

SPEAKER_08

But technically speaking, you know, listen, you fail. Listen, well, we could just changes.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Before we start with the show, I have to get a beer and pee.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So do you want me to just are you getting up too? No, we could continue. I was gonna say, because I could just continue reading. Yes.

SPEAKER_08

Continue reading. All right, so we're talking about the hatch and the Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So upon reaching the caves, Jack explains the situation to the survivors, promising them they will all be alright as long as they stay together. No sooner does Jack finish the speech than Locke appears, carrying cable and saying he is going into the hatch. Soon after, Kate follows behind him. While Locke is easing her down the shaft, Kate realizes there is something in the hatch, and Kate mysteriously disappears when there is a sudden burst of light from within the hatch.

SPEAKER_08

That was a cool scene.

SPEAKER_01

From all the bitching that we did about Jack's bedside manor, when it comes to giving speeches, he's relatively good at that. No, he's excellent at that.

SPEAKER_08

And that's why I'm like, sometimes I hate him, but sometimes, like, no, I don't hate you. I just wish you weren't such a hateable, like you have qualities I just don't like. And may I say, I never would have thought about using the rope going down the hatch. And I would think that's a really good idea. But I think I would have used a ladder, like as I was going as Kate, I would use a ladder too and kind of like split the weight between the rope and the ladder. But anyway, I think that was a I think that was an excellent idea. I'm proud of them.

SPEAKER_01

Back at the caves, Jack arms himself, deciding that he is going after Kate and Luck. At the hatch, he finds no one there. He repels down the shaft and finds a maze of passageways. He comes across a colorful mural. He comes across a colorful mural painted on the wall featuring the numbers.

SPEAKER_08

These fucking numbers are driving me fucking crazy. I'm sorry, I'm just gonna say this. I'll probably say this throughout the whole fucking series, but like, what's with the numbers in these island? I just don't get it. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Including their sum 108. Remember you saw 108 in the middle? That's what all the numbers add up to.

SPEAKER_08

Oh!

unknown

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

He also discovers a spot where the key to the Halliburton case he carries around his neck is pulled up, attracted by a strong magnetic force. Finally, after being surprised by the bright light and the loud and loud music, he enters what appears to be an underground geodesic dome. It contains an array of computer equipment from various decades, including an Apple II computer, its prompt glowing. As Jack is about to use it, Loc appears and tells him not to touch it. Jack raises the gun and asks, Where's Kate? Loc does not answer, as the resident of the hatch has a gun pointed at Locke's head. Loc tells Jack to put down the gun. The gunman threatens to shoot Locke if Jack doesn't surrender. Jack refuses, instead, taunting Loc about his destiny. Finally, the gunman steps out and Jack recognizes him and says a single word. You. It's Desmond.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so what are the odds that fucking Desmond and him? Okay, I have two questions, but wait. Desmond and him and him are on the same fucking island. What the fuck? And two, that equipment is much older than as long as long as Desmond's been on the fucking island.

SPEAKER_01

How do you know how long Desmond has been on the island?

SPEAKER_08

Because the equipment is at least decades old. Desmond and Des he met him when he met his his ex former future wife. Now it wasn't decades. So obviously, like the equipment, like the that stuff has been there way before Desmond arrived there. Okay. All right. Good observation. I worked! Yay, my brain worked.

SPEAKER_01

When Jack comes in, he notices the shoes.

SPEAKER_08

At the yeah, kind of like using your shoes at the door.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And um we're gonna at some point we're gonna come back to that.

SPEAKER_08

So let me know when you want your fun fact.

SPEAKER_01

Um, do you want to do it now or after the next episode?

SPEAKER_08

Let's do it now because it because this is when I realized it before I watched this episode. Okay. Okay, uh Desmond fun facts. Are you ready? Okay, so the actor, what's his name? Henry Isaac something?

SPEAKER_01

Henry Ian Cusick.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, Henry Ian. Henry, he is currently on a show now. He's on the reboot of MacGyver. And this particular, I think this particular episode or the season has to do with there's an underground city, and there's a scene in one of the episodes where it opens up to a record playing. Interesting. Because he opened up to like the scene with Des and when they introduced him, there's a record playing. Right. So I just think that yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

There's a a lot of little things like that that I noticed from people who were on Lost later on. Um, do you watch How I Met Your Mother? Or did she? No. There's a scene where okay, so it's it's a bunch of like 20-somethings in New York City, and they spend a lot of time in the bar. Right. So they're all in the bar and Hurley walks in, and he's not Hurley, but you know, yeah, and they say something, and Hurley starts mentioning the numbers, and it's you know that's funny, and um they're on Hawaii 5 0. Uh Hurley and Jin are also on Hawaii 5.0, the show. And so like there's and so like there's there's one scene, I forgot what scene it is, but there's a scene where they're like gagging, and it's like an inside joke about lost. It's like they they do that shit all the time. But it's like if you hadn't seen this show, you would catch it.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, and this is so funny because I'm watching MacGyver Friday night. I was watching it and I was like, oh, oh, oh shit. So you watched the two episodes in the same day? No, I watched it separate, like I watched the episode one Thursday and MacGyver comes on Friday night. So as I'm watching it, I'm like, oh, oh shit. The connection, like, yeah. So I was kind of like, that's that's funny.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so we're gonna start on a drift.

SPEAKER_08

Oh so I need to get more alcohol. I was just thinking. So normally you have like trivia for me at the end of the episode.

SPEAKER_01

There's really like there's really not much trivia. I mean, all right. So let's I don't feel kind of like all right. So the trivia is a man. No, that's not trivia. All right, trivia. During the opening scene, Jack and Locke can be seen in the lens of the telescope and in the reflection of the mirror before the big reveal of the camera panning up towards them.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Kate can faint Kate can be faintly heard yelling for Jack over the music.

SPEAKER_05

Did you hear that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. As is later shown in a drift. Yeah. Adam Adam Rutherford, the driver of the SUV, who hit Sarah's car, is actually Shannon's father.

SPEAKER_06

Which you you you you gathered.

SPEAKER_01

It clicked a little bit later, yes.

SPEAKER_06

Listen, I give you props for it though.

SPEAKER_01

This is the second jack-centric episode featuring Sarah, in which one of Shannon's relatives is killed.

SPEAKER_06

What was the first one?

SPEAKER_01

Uh Do No Harm. When Boone dies.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, when Boon. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's not.

SPEAKER_08

I forgot about that, though. I mean, I forget that she's a you know, yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

For all intended purposes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so anything okay, there is something that I want to talk about. The title of the episode is Science, Man of Faith. On first glance, it appears that this is talking about Jack and Locke, right? I thought it was Jack and Jack. But I was gonna say, but I feel like that is the takeaway after you watch it.

SPEAKER_08

I think when I went into it, I didn't I didn't I've learned what Lost don't take any like I learned like I go in with the open mind. So by the time I got to like you know, the middle of the flashback, I'm like, oh, it was Jack and Jack. Right.

SPEAKER_01

He's both well, because Jack is always like, you know, science, he's a doctor, and Locke is like, but you have to believe, and this is destiny.

SPEAKER_06

And the funny thing is, I would think about no, but I I kind of think is it's still the same. Like, I think you can think about Jack kind of bordering on the two because of the way he reacted to his his flashback, right?

SPEAKER_01

Especially Desmond is saying that it's America.

SPEAKER_06

At the end of the day, it's like when when Jack gives his his uh his speech, you know, he goes back to the person that you don't believe him to be when he says, believe in me. Like he he's telling everyone, I promise again, which is something he he doesn't do.

SPEAKER_08

But right.

SPEAKER_06

He's asking you, he's asking you realize you're agreeing with us, but you start off kind of No, I again, but but in that same scene, you have the man of science turning around and saying, Jack, fuck you. I'm gonna take this cable and go find my destiny.

SPEAKER_01

The man of faith, you mean?

SPEAKER_06

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_06

So you have you still have that because he's in the same scene, it's like you see Jack's a small part of the show, though. I feel like it was. But it's it's still it's still a big portion because you have Jack doing what he doesn't do, but even having that bedside manner.

SPEAKER_01

Jack is still saying to Locke, like, oh, is this your destiny?

SPEAKER_06

Like, you see, like no, no, you're well wait. In that scene, I'm talking about prior to that. You have you have Jack talking to the people and have and putting on what he doesn't have, a bedside manner, and and trying to appease the people, and then in the same sense, you have Locke come in and be like, Well, fuck you. I'm going to go save us and go down the hatch any which way, because I don't care about what you you know, what you feel.

SPEAKER_08

Well, maybe it's both. Maybe they are both a man of faith, man of science, man of faith. Or maybe Desmond is a man of faith. I think, I think with Lost, I think they're all correct. Honestly, I think they're all correct. Desmond was like, Well, how do you know you didn't fix her? Because I didn't. Well, how do you know? How do you know? So I think I think the show that the show title me encompasses every character that's in this episode.

SPEAKER_06

Well, no, but but the problem is that Jack is a is a half-empty type of person. He always thinks the worst. You know, like I can kind of side with him because I'm not a I'm the same way. I I think the worst. I don't think the best.

SPEAKER_08

I think I'm an optimistic, an optimistic realist.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, you absolutely are.

SPEAKER_08

I'm an optimistic realist when it comes to my real life stuff.

SPEAKER_06

Like, but hopefully, pessimistic realists. I'm a pessimistic realist where I can see a situation, but still, you know, will take the worst case scenario because it's like I just I rather I'd rather find a negative so that if I get the positive, it'll be fine.

SPEAKER_08

It's always like I feel like if I expect the worst, but hopefully if I expect the worst, I feel like I'm never disappointed and I'm always pleasantly surprised.

SPEAKER_06

That's a pessimist, not an optimist.

SPEAKER_08

Hope, plan for the worst, hope for the best. But if I expect, like, I think it's like each situation, you kind of expect like this is this is like worst-case scenario. I'm gonna hope for the best, but I'm prepared for the worst. Like, that's just being realistic. And when you know someone, like you go by someone's behavior. I I know Alex, and that's gonna come with some perverted shit. And but wait, and I'm never making your listeners judge me.

SPEAKER_06

And apparently you guys have talked about me.

SPEAKER_08

But but look at it that way, I'm going based on facts, and I'm going based on what I've known already. I'm never gonna be disappointed in life, and I may be pleasantly surprised throughout. I think that leads for a healthier lifestyle. Because people who expect the best from everybody, you're gonna be fucking disappointed a lot in life. A lot, a lot, I think that's the reason why I'm so happy in life because like I I it is what it is in life. Like, you get what you get.

SPEAKER_06

But that up this episode is perfect dick.

SPEAKER_01

Any okay, wait, wait. All right, let's let's get this train back on other than all right. Any new takeaways about Jack after seeing this episode? Okay, so he's but well, that's not new.

SPEAKER_08

We've already discussed that he's complicated. I I think I'm softening up to him. I'm gonna get on your ass real good. I think I'm softening up to him.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, pause.

SPEAKER_08

Damn it, him. Um I think I kind of get him, and I think I'm a little bit easier because you think he's married, but based on some conversation, you're like, wait, but he's not? Who hurt you? Like, dude, like damn, Gina. I kind of get you on some I get, I get your pain to suffer at some level. So I'm like, I'm softening up to him. I'm gonna be nicer on season two. I'm gonna be I'm gonna be a nicer person on season two. I'm not gonna get too fast.

SPEAKER_06

And even all the alphas, they're all damaged goods. And I think humans are damaged, period. No, I mean, well, that's that's not really saying much. But when you're when you're thinking of all the protagonists from the show, like you try to understand them, and it's like this show is always going to make you have a different opinion about them.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

So it's it's not like it's not set in stone. Like, Jack is from beginning of the season, ongoing, is a dick who you feel like isn't a leader, but wants to be the leader, and then you have Locke who's just someone that's seeking kind of yes, he's seeking validation in in his life. Not it has nothing to do with the people that he's dealing with. Like Jack is looking for validation in the people, Locke is looking for validation in his island. In life, yeah. And then you have Sawyerland, and you have Sawyer that's looking for validation in revenge, yeah. Like, yeah, like revenge, but he's also like, he's also in the same sense, like he's him and Jack are like just two sides of a coin. Yeah, you know, I agree. They're they're they're the same person, but on different spectrums. You have Jack, who was the doctor, you know, the goody two shoes, who, you know, whatever. But when you realize it, he did a bad thing by sleeping with his patient.

SPEAKER_08

Well, I'm assuming by time they weren't okay. We had to say she could be we had this conversation before. We're pretty much sure, like after they're discharged, I'm sure she wasn't the sleep with her back was broken. She's no longer a patient. Yeah, but they're so not a bad thing. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_06

It it's still that that gray area. It's it's still a gray area. So, but then you have Sawyer who's the natural bad guy, but who has the sob story.

SPEAKER_08

Well, and I saw Jack's gray area would be turning into his father. I think that would have been his personal gray area. It's the right thing done for the wrong like you know what I mean. It's like right. I think that would be a good thing.

SPEAKER_01

And Sawyer's Sawyer happened. Yes, yes, exactly.

SPEAKER_06

But I think I don't like Sawyer.

SPEAKER_01

I don't, I, I, I, you know, I can't refute that right now because we haven't gotten that far, but I really want to tell you why you're wrong.

SPEAKER_06

No, I I can tell you why you're wrong. I I I can absolutely tell you why you're wrong, because you like the bad boy, and this is why you're with me. Because you like the bad boy, and that's that's what you're attracted to.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, the man who goes to work every day, right? And brings him a paycheck for his family. Yeah. Oh my god, such a bad boy.

SPEAKER_06

We'll pause that. Any which way. That's not how we met.

SPEAKER_08

Can I keep reading? Please do. Are we are we finishing season one?

SPEAKER_06

Wait, no, no.

SPEAKER_08

This is episode one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, one more thing. Okay. Walt. Dripping wet, saying the button is bad.

unknown

What the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

What the fuck does that mean?

SPEAKER_06

It's it's kind of suspect. It's kind of weird. It's kind of like off-putting.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, let's go back. Okay. When that's me rewinding.

SPEAKER_08

That was me rewinding.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Last season when he has that exchange with Locke, and he tells Locke, don't open it.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_01

He he had no way of knowing about the hatch.

SPEAKER_08

Right. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Well, so keep going.

SPEAKER_08

Keep going. Okay.

unknown

Alex.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. So when Desmond told him you know, you know, had him. Oh, wait, is that episode two?

SPEAKER_01

It's the next episode, but you saw no no, but even in the first episode, when it opens, you see Desmond with the computer. The button. The button. The computer button.

SPEAKER_08

For my first birth. I'm initially thinking like button. Can we mute his mic? Okay. Okay, but yes. Just turn the mic off. No, oh, there's only one mic. Damn. No. Okay. So yeah. Okay. I think I had a lot of things.

SPEAKER_06

This is a threesome.

SPEAKER_08

I've had a lot for threesomes. I'm just letting you know. Oh.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna start the next episode. And maybe more liquor.

SPEAKER_06

Wait, wait. No, I wait.

SPEAKER_08

What?

SPEAKER_06

You were in the middle of like contemplating.

SPEAKER_08

It's gonna be my I'll continue it after we finish episode two because my thought really had yeah. This is why I don't watch two episodes at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

Cause like you understand why I said to just do the two because they're they're like, no, but what I'll what I'll say is that you guys shouldn't split it.

SPEAKER_06

You should guys should just especially for like timing purposes, you should just make both episodes one episode.

SPEAKER_01

It is.

SPEAKER_06

It is so you why you're saying that I'm gonna start reading the synopsis for the second one. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

But before we do that, I'm gonna get more alcohol. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

No, you can't. You have to you have to wait.

SPEAKER_01

No, go, go, go. Why are you telling her to wait?

SPEAKER_04

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, stop interrupting because this is taking way too long. You what I know, but you can still stop interrupting and stop telling stories about your cousin. That's neither here nor there.

SPEAKER_06

What the half-hour conversation we just had wasn't good. Fix that hair, baby.

SPEAKER_08

The headset's gonna go on it, so who cares?

SPEAKER_06

Why are you no, that's blasphemous. That is horribly blasphemous.

SPEAKER_08

Because it was even that or take it from the head all throughout the episode.

SPEAKER_06

Yo, baby, give me head all the time. Telling your wife.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, get on.

SPEAKER_06

Huh?

SPEAKER_01

Recording in a kid's room.

SPEAKER_06

Listen, I just I just told her she has to give me head, so she's pouring wine in a stellar glass. So that's not okay.

SPEAKER_01

That's fine. Alright. Read.

SPEAKER_06

You want me to read? Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_06

Shit.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, so look, start here.

SPEAKER_06

Hold on. Jesus Christ. Are you serious now?

SPEAKER_08

He missed the whole thing. I know. So this is this is what I'm drinking. I'm drinking sweet peach wine. It has a little cake to it, so it's like a sparkling wine.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Is it good? It's good. That raspberry bellini, though, was off the hook from last week. But that was they I went back for more, they didn't have any.

SPEAKER_01

That sucks.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. How do you want to start this?

SPEAKER_01

In flashback.

SPEAKER_06

Okay, so we're gonna start my lines.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna start reading for a drift. And Alex is gonna read the synopsis.

SPEAKER_06

Are we ready, woman?

SPEAKER_01

She's ready.

SPEAKER_06

Listen, stop pursing your lips.

SPEAKER_08

I'm grimac. I am I am grinning and laughing at your discomfort.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, the discomfort is heavy. It's heavy.

SPEAKER_08

And that's why I'm getting much pleasure out of it.

SPEAKER_06

I can give you more pleasure.

SPEAKER_08

Not for what I hear.

SPEAKER_06

Whoa. Whoa.

SPEAKER_08

I had to shut you up.

SPEAKER_06

What girlfriend are you talking to? Because it's not my wife.

SPEAKER_03

Oh I tried to shut him up, Lisa.

SPEAKER_08

It didn't work. I tried.

SPEAKER_01

You just gotta stop responding.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Alright. Stella, relax.

SPEAKER_01

She's laying right behind the computer. So you can't see her, but she's like face in face like right now.

SPEAKER_06

She's literally laying like across the computer, shaking her tail every time I speak, and she's inching. She's inching. Hold on. Okay. Are we ready?

SPEAKER_08

Ready for you.

SPEAKER_06

Bitch.

SPEAKER_08

Queen bitch. Get it right.

SPEAKER_06

A drift flashback. Michael visits his lawyer about fighting for custody of white. Walt. I need my glasses. Fucking pink paper. Fucking pink paper. Take five. A drift flashback. Michael visits his lawyer about fighting for custody of Walt. The lawyer says giving up Walt for adoption so Brian Porter can become his legal father would mean Michael would have no rights at all. Michael wants to fight all the way, but the lawyer tells him the proceedings will cost a lot of money. Asking if he's sure. Michael is adamant, however, that he is going to get his son back. First of all, the lawyer's a dick.

SPEAKER_08

I didn't think so. I thought he was just being realistic.

SPEAKER_06

No, it's realistic, but at the end of the day, as a father, I he listen, I appreciate his honesty.

SPEAKER_01

That's Donnie Douglas from Fraser.

SPEAKER_08

Because as a lawyer, I'm not, I'm not like as a lawyer, it's not the therapist, not your life coach. I should give you legal advice. Because it could have been a dick and like taking all his money and without giving him the chance to be like, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Let's fight.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_06

So but at the end of the day. But at the end of the day, I'm sorry, as a as a father, I'm like he didn't tell him not to.

SPEAKER_01

No, but he just said, look, if I'm the if you walked in here, I'm the best you can afford.

SPEAKER_06

No, well, he said because of who he was going up against, which was the uh quote unquote stepfather, you you're gonna have a problem.

SPEAKER_08

Right, because the guy has more money to put into it, obviously. Yeah, so I think he's doing him a big favor. And their lawyers themselves.

SPEAKER_06

Which, not for nothing, we've already seen in season one what that that piece of shit really cared about Walt.

SPEAKER_08

But you know, to be fair, to him, I blame the woman. I sp I blame Susan, and I'll get to my opinion on her later.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, no, no, no. That's listen, we we actually had this discussion.

SPEAKER_08

She forced me, she forced everything, she forced that relationship onto him. You could tell, like with the beginning of the relationship, she forced yeah, we could yeah, no, no, you can no you can go.

SPEAKER_06

Don't digress.

SPEAKER_08

I would digress till more said so it can have a full effect.

SPEAKER_06

Uh no, I don't think so. I think you you you have enough when you from the first season to even this interaction because you you can see from the minute that she dies the biolog now the now biological father, adoptive father, is like, oh no, you you need to take your your your son back. I don't want him. So it it obviously had to do with her, not not with him.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Because your yeah, your mic is bouncing.

SPEAKER_08

Bouncing.

SPEAKER_06

Bounce, shake, ass, twist. This is how to do the I don't know it's not the mic, it's the bottle.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, okay. It's uh the the the glass they're all on the same table. So every time it's sh you could get used to the drinking.

SPEAKER_06

Well, you know what? I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_08

I I I did not it's an appetite suppressant. Hint hint wink wink.

SPEAKER_06

Double blink, double wink. A hearing takes place between the Michael Wow That's not a correct sentence. A hearing takes place between Michael and Susan Lloyd. I don't know why they added it. Yeah, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Just keep reading. A hearing takes place.

SPEAKER_06

A hearing takes place between Michael and Susan Lloyd, accompanied by their lawyers. Susan staff begins to nitpick at Michael's history as a father, coming in the conclusion that for someone who wants to retain his parental right, you do you do not know very much about your son. Michael, however, stands firm that he is Walt's father. And just on a press, I asked Lisa on all three of our kids, what were their first words? What's their favorite food? And except for their first word, she knew absolutely nothing. And mind you, this is the woman that's been with them a lot more than I technically have. Not, you know, a great deal more, but a lot more than I have. So I will take the pause and say that the questions that were asked were bullshit. Because as a father who is very much involved with his kids, and to my wife, who was very much involved with her kids. Or our kids.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Are they not the same?

SPEAKER_06

Or our kids.

SPEAKER_08

But no, he's trying to separate it for the episode for the show. But it's still kind of weird. Yeah, I get you.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

You know where I was going.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, trying to go, yes.

SPEAKER_06

So I asked her, and except for their first words, which she said the assholes all went dad-dad. As far as favorite food and all this, all these other questions, like as a mother who's been there all their lives, and quite frankly, is there a ton more than me because of how much I work, she couldn't tell you what their favorite food is because they change, they change their favorite food, like like they change their underwear.

SPEAKER_08

Like I don't remember my own kids' favorite uh first word. I'm like, I don't fucking know. What the hell? And this actually pissed me off to the highest level of passivity because she took him away from Michael to begin with. Yes, and then you're gonna use that against him.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly.

SPEAKER_08

I was like, oh, you so fucked up.

SPEAKER_06

And even and even when he said she took him away. And his lawyers like, they're golding you, they're they're trying to get you to be upset. No, she took him away from me from on like from the beginning.

SPEAKER_08

And like his lawyer He was trying to get to him, he got hit by the car. Like he was done with the bullshit, and it was like, uh-uh, and we got hit by the fucking car. So I kind of feel so bad for him.

SPEAKER_01

And then she paid for his, he didn't even tell her, he didn't ask her to do it.

SPEAKER_07

She bribed him, she bribed him, she yes, paid for all his stuff without telling him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she didn't pay.

SPEAKER_00

After it was done, she told him, and then she threw that in his face too.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, so she's manipulative. This is what I was about to say. She's been manipulative, she manipulated Michael, she manipulates her husband because she forced someone else's child onto him. He he didn't want a child to begin with. And to be fair, as a woman who's had one child and doesn't want it anymore, I didn't want any more 20 years ago. And I knew that I didn't want any more. To be forced to someone to say, hey, this happened I'm giving you my child. I'm like, eh, hold up. No, but and then she manipulates Walt by hiding everything Michael sent to him. So do I want the woman to die? No, I didn't want that to happen to her. No, no, yes, I do. I'm sorry, but not like that though.

SPEAKER_01

But you it's the she used to have been fucked up from the beginning, and I think money might we talk about all the time like the theme of the bad fathers on the show.

SPEAKER_08

But I'm just a bad person, but I don't think she takes it to the mother level, like she takes them, yeah, she does. She's just a bad person. No, you think between a bad father and a bad person overall, she's just a bad person. She's a quiet social climber. You know, somebody just overt with it, she was a subtle with it. I think that's even worse. No, I I have to say it's like not that she wasn't capable of doing her job, but she was definitely a social climber.

SPEAKER_06

But I I I I have to say, like, in dealing with friends that have to deal with like that paternal issue, you know, women tend to get the benefit of the doubt. And it it sucks because it's like a woman doesn't have that much to prove more than a man does.

SPEAKER_08

I concur.

SPEAKER_06

So it's like when you when you're in a custody dispute and you know, the woman generally which accurately, they have more they're technically more attuned to their kid because they they they kind of it's science, it's genetics, it's just the way it's just the way it is. Yes, but it's it it's it's not an absolute.

SPEAKER_08

No, it's not because there's some people that shouldn't have children at all. But the issue is not necessarily um that she's a bad mother, right? Just she manipulates pay she manipulates things to get her way.

SPEAKER_01

Like it's not that she's a bad mother, is doubting her ability to take care of Walt. The problem here is that she's trying to take away Michael's ability to take care of Walt.

SPEAKER_07

Which he he technically, and I don't I don't recall if I think he kind of like goes along with it.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I but my my point is I don't I don't think we get uh a complete like view of what Michael's fatherly duty was from the beginning.

SPEAKER_08

I don't recall enough it was because she left when the baby was young, the baby was a little and the baby wasn't even walking when she decided to leave him to go to Amsterdam, right? But we did get one scene where he was still attentive and playing with him, yeah. So she really didn't give him a chance to be a bob. Right.

SPEAKER_06

She didn't he was she didn't feel she didn't feel he was worthy to be a father.

SPEAKER_00

That's what it and yes, but at the same time, he was saying to her, I'm gonna quit.

SPEAKER_08

I mean she was sick with a partner.

SPEAKER_01

Well, he's saying that he's gonna quit and he's gonna get a job, a steady job with a steady income, and she's like, No, no, no, no, no, yo, your art. What about you know your passion? And so she's on one hand.

SPEAKER_00

No, she manipulated him his passion, and on the other one saying, But look, you don't have steady work.

SPEAKER_06

And I'm sorry, I lose, I I understand that was her way to make she made it so that she can. And I I I my internet connection. I'm sorry. No, it's fine. I I will say though, I because I'm a father, I he he pisses me off that he backed down because it it it it doesn't matter that I'm not the best or I'm not in the right situation, or I you know, if you try to take my kids away from me, I'm gonna end up getting you killed. Like it's it's just not.

SPEAKER_08

I think he's absolutely weak. I he's absolutely weak. No because if he was a stronger, because her manipulating wouldn't have worked to begin with.

SPEAKER_06

I think that's why he's suffering so much now. Now he's not a bad person. Because I I feel like I feel like from the onset, from the moment that he got Walt, his guilt of giving him up so easily is is bothering him because he did try to give him to his mother at the airport.

SPEAKER_08

No, at the scene from last season, he was like, I can't do this, you need to watch him for me while I walk. Like he was like, he still was, he still, I don't think he became an actual father until like the middle of season one. Like the like the end of season one. Like, I don't think that like he was still trying, like at the he was like, I think he wants to be, but he's like, I can't do this. Like, I think he's like, he didn't. He didn't know how to. No, but you know what? I think, for example, let's say you become a first-time father, but that baby's still in your fucking hands, you're like, oh shit, what am I gonna do as you're holding it and loving it? You know what I mean? He didn't give himself a chance to, you know what I mean? I give him a big thing. He didn't give up either. So he didn't, he didn't, only because I don't think he had a chance to.

SPEAKER_06

If he would have made to Los Angeles, his mama would have he didn't get a chance to no, but but that's the thing is that he didn't get a chance to, but as we've all experienced, your mother, I'm a father, she's you know, she's the mother of my children.

SPEAKER_08

Slash wife, slash the way he says that concubine concubinish. Continue.

SPEAKER_06

It's it's a very divorce you it's let me see her try. It's a very scary, it's a very scary experience for your first child. For me, not so much uh dealing with uh, you know, uh a baby, but like uh the having the baby, like the hospital experience and everything was very scary to me. But once uh Melinda was born, uh that was very easy for me. It wasn't it wasn't it wasn't hard, it was like it was second nature because I like a switch went off. No, no, I had it went from scare to I mean. No, my my my experience is I raised I raised cousins from babies. I took care of babies when I was younger. So it wasn't it wasn't okay so the scary point for me was everything leading up to the birth. It wasn't the after was easy.

SPEAKER_08

I wouldn't taking care of a baby and then realizing you're responsible for a child are two different fears. No, but I think I think maybe it's different as a father, but no, like my click was like be I like you part of me, like superficially, you're afraid, like, oh, can I take care of this child? But what really scares you, like, holy shit, I'm responsible for this little person. Holy shit. I you know what that's a biggest fear for me.

SPEAKER_03

Right, it's I didn't exist. I didn't think that's my point.

SPEAKER_06

I didn't I didn't have those fears. I, you know, and especially that I was raised with mostly females my whole life, and raised and and took care of babies, you know, that were younger, like most men have an issue with oh my god, I have to, I have to I have to clean her vagina. You know what I'm saying?

SPEAKER_00

Like and as this took a turn.

SPEAKER_08

We thought that having him read would keep us on keep us on track.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it doesn't work. It doesn't work.

SPEAKER_08

Go back.

SPEAKER_06

But any which way, as a father, I I don't agree with him so easily, and I know there was reluctance in it, but I feel like he gave it up too easily.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I think, yeah, from the beginning from the very beginning, he was just like, I don't want to, but okay. Yeah, I think I think I think she made it very easy. She manipulated his nappy sense. Like if he really wanted to be in it and on it, she couldn't have done that. So she just used his especially when she said, Oh, I think you're gonna win. We all knew he wasn't gonna win.

SPEAKER_07

No, she she like he basically gave up without even putting up a fight.

SPEAKER_01

But that's what I'm saying. It makes it seem like he gave up even more because she's like, Well, I think you're gonna win. And then he's like, Okay, but I'll sign the papers.

SPEAKER_08

That's exactly why he's on the papers. That's she used the fact that he was afraid so he could sign the papers.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I see what you're saying.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, like because I don't think he was gonna win. I don't think he was gonna win.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think he was gonna win either.

SPEAKER_08

But the fact that he, if she told him that and said, hey, you're gonna win, he's like, Oh shit, I'm gonna win. I think I think she used, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I see. I see, I understand.

SPEAKER_08

And if you if you're afraid, yes. But is he a horrible person? No, I don't think he took that. But he did not give that at all.

SPEAKER_06

I think his problem was is that he wanted to be a father technically. He did it, no, you know, like when you speak of people's fathers, it's like, no, that's your sperm donor. That's not your father. You know what I'm saying? There's a big difference between.

SPEAKER_08

I think he had potential, though. He could have taken the chance.

SPEAKER_06

It it's not that, listen.

SPEAKER_08

If she had never left, and if she would have never had that time when she was in New York and lived her and lived her life, and he was still able to be a father, maybe. Give him a chance to fuck up before you take the kid to Amsterdam.

SPEAKER_07

But he he he never got the chance to be a father.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah. So it's he's like a newborn, he's like a father newborn with the kid's 10.

SPEAKER_06

So, like, even in the in the beginning of the season where you know people misinterpret like the way he's acting towards Walt. And it's just like, dude, can you imagine having a kid that age and trying to gain like trying to demand respect? It's like you can barely demand respect from your own kids that you raise. So imagine having to demand respect from a kid that you you barely even know and doesn't even realize that you're his father. Like, it's almost an impossible task. So I dig I digress.

SPEAKER_08

Now you're gonna regress.

SPEAKER_06

I'm going to revert to the synapses. At another conference room, Susan speaks to Michael alone. She says she thinks Michael will win in court, but cannot understand why he is doing this when he does not even know Walt and could not provide what she could. She pleads to Michael to let Walt go and hands him the adoption forms. At a park, Susan and the toddler and toddler Walt arrive to meet Michael. Michael finds it finds it hard to call himself Walt's father, but hesitantly tells Walt that he will have a great life with his mother and Brian. He also promises that your daddy loves you very much and I always will. Before leaving, he gives Walt a toy polar bear, asking Susan one day at least to tell him who it was from. First of all, that whole situation is fucked up. Because even when she shows up to the park, she apologizes, she's like, uh, you know, packing is a is is so much. Listen, you're taking away his the father's rights.

SPEAKER_01

You can't you can't give him like one less kid full day or a weekend an hour to be with his son.

SPEAKER_08

I felt so bad for Michael when he gave him the polar bear. I'll be like, so that's where the polar bear came from. It is though. No, polar bear village, that's where it came from.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. It ties in, it ties in the polar bear attack.

SPEAKER_08

Polar bear, what was it?

SPEAKER_06

Bear village.

SPEAKER_00

Bear village.

SPEAKER_07

But um, but it's it's just work so good together.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, totally off topic. We're gonna get right back on topic. Love the hair color, Lisa. Now that I've seen it, it looks really good. Thank you. I love it.

unknown

Thank you.

SPEAKER_08

Is your rusty hair darker too? No. It doesn't look as blonde today. It looks like you dyed it darker. I guess because okay. Oh sorry. Love your hair today.

SPEAKER_07

Well, I I think like it's let's look at the hair.

SPEAKER_08

I just I just I feel like it's a little darker. Like, not like it's I mean that's why it's like brown brown, but it seems like it's like more of a you know that's not her natural hair color to begin with.

SPEAKER_06

I love it.

SPEAKER_08

I love it. Yes, it is so as we're saying about Stella. No, but so yes, I keep looking at myself.

SPEAKER_06

You look gorgeous, don't worry about it. I'll be thinking about you later. Did you throw up in your mouth a little? No, but get but uh but honestly, getting back to that whole situation, the fact that she showed up to the park and basically dismissed his feelings, his wants, and his needs, and basically put that it was a burden for her to go there for him to spend to spend the last moments. Like, how do you not want that woman to die? Like, I'm sorry, I understand that she she wanted the best for her child, but she wanted the best for her child, but regardless, it's still such a selfish thing to wish.

SPEAKER_00

It was really selfish, it was selfish of her what she did, but that's a selfish thing to wish because if she dies, oh sure, you get your son back, but your son also loses his mother.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, but but the father adopted.

SPEAKER_00

How would you feel if your parents said that about each other?

SPEAKER_07

But the step, but she wanted she wanted the new husband to adopt them, and he adopted him, and the minute she died, he's like, No, I nigga, you gotta go come get your kid. This is not my kid.

SPEAKER_00

I understand what you're saying, but that still doesn't warrant death because that's still Walt's mother.

SPEAKER_08

Uh I don't think she was a she wasn't the listen. I just believe in karma. I just like you give what you give out into the universe. So I try my damnedest not to wish ill on anybody.

SPEAKER_06

I'm not saying she didn't do she didn't do right by him, but she did her best.

SPEAKER_08

She could question. I'm sorry. I wonder what kind of situation she grew up in. Because you know how we just like against war. Um I wonder what kind of like what her growing up was that made have like she's like she made sure she was in a situation, even though she might have loved Michael at first, she I think her, she might have been in a situation where she was like, she's like, I refuse to be in a situation where I can't take care of my family or take care of my kid. So I I know just play devil's advocate. What's wondering?

SPEAKER_06

It seems like from the the her comments, it feels like she fell in love with an artist, but her own ambition led her, let or fear led her on a different path.

SPEAKER_07

Like she she loved what Michael was, but she didn't feel like she can be with him for what she wanted for herself.

SPEAKER_08

Because even though she was a complete bitch in the way she acted, no, no, she is still she I mean, but the way she did it, you know what I mean? The way she it wasn't cr she was a bitch towards him, but she wasn't cruel with it. It was manipulative, but it wasn't evil. But you know what I mean? I think there were still com some kind of feelings for him.

SPEAKER_06

She didn't, she didn't see her purpose. She didn't outright stab him. She just made sure that the dagger was stabbed, but she made sure you got help for the men. She made sure you for the ER. She made sure the dagger went behind the back and then slowly penetrated the heart.

SPEAKER_08

And kind of want to rat and avoid the arteries. You know, like part of the ER. Like she made sure that, you know.

SPEAKER_06

Like a woman does. They kill you, you know, perfectly.

SPEAKER_08

Listen, I'm offended as a woman who's had her heart broken numerous and sundry times.

SPEAKER_06

Listen, and as you've broken most motherfuckers' hearts.

SPEAKER_08

No, I've actually been okay. Okay, if I broke anyone's heart, it's because I didn't know.

SPEAKER_06

Come on. You have you have bitch tendencies.

SPEAKER_08

Only if you did me wrong.

SPEAKER_06

I'm not saying that they didn't do anything wrong.

SPEAKER_08

So they have no right to have their heart broken. Because you if you did me wrong, you just don't get dirtied. So you didn't have But anyway, as we we digress again.

SPEAKER_06

So on the island, at the hatch, Locke shots down the shaft for Kate, who has vanished. Tying himself a line of rope, Loc heads down after her. Locke reaches the bottom of the shaft and wanders around to discover that he is in fact some kind of concrete bonker. He removes his shoes and tiptoes further inside. He finds a kitchen and discovers Kate dazed on the floor. A man suddenly appears behind him, holding a gun and asks Locke, Are you him? Loc pretends that he is indeed him. However, when the man asks what did one snowman say to the other snowman, my answer is freeze, motherfucker. But and Locke can't answer. He realizes Loc is lying. The man orders Kate to lock. The man orders Kate to the lock. Whoa. That is so fucked up a sentence. Yeah. The man orders Kate to tie Locke up, but Loc says Kate should be tied up because she's a fugitive and is the most dangerous one. The man allows it. Loc ties Kate's hands, but also hides a pocket knife in her trousers. Kate is then locked inside a darkened room by the man.

SPEAKER_00

So what did you make of Desmond asking Loc, are you him?

SPEAKER_08

So I know they asked him, are you him? Like at the beginning of the show, and then it spans something else. And I was like, what the fuck? But when they went back to it, it's like, are you him? She's like, yeah, I'm him. I'm like, oh, he's going with the flow. That's my first thing. But then I'm like, well, this is this island, so who knows? But my first thought was, oh, he's going with the flow. He's gonna, he's just gonna see what it is.

SPEAKER_05

That was absolutely right, though. You you can tell.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, but but for half a second, I'm like, you never know with this island. It may be something he might have he might actually know something. But you know what?

SPEAKER_06

In Locke's mind, he probably thought, I am the one.

SPEAKER_08

I think no, and to be honest with you, I think Locke really was just going with it.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I I mean I generally think that also, like, even when but you know, when you think about Locke, he's like anything can go. In his mind, he's probably like, I am that one.

SPEAKER_01

Locke is very smart.

SPEAKER_08

I'm that motherfucker right there.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, he's very smart, he's very perceptive, and I think that that's reinforced by what he did with Kate.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, because he did that intentionally, and I knew he did that intentionally. Like, I had no doubt in my mind that that was an intentional, like it was a plan. No, no.

SPEAKER_06

He he realized the best the rep the best recourse was to she had more skills in getting out. Oh, absolutely.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, this let me lock her, let me put tie this bitch up.

SPEAKER_06

Well, not on not only that, he knew she can get out of the situation, and if I'm pushed into a situation, I still am capable of getting out of the situation that I put into. So he kind of did the best case scenario because she can get herself out, and he can deal with any situation that comes comes forth.

SPEAKER_08

Because even if the guy said no, she's less of a threat because she's a woman, it makes more sense.

SPEAKER_06

He knows Kate well enough to know that she can take care of herself. Because, not for nothing, even when Jack says, Where's Kate?

SPEAKER_07

You can see in Locks in Locke's face, he says she's fine. Fine.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

But like the way he says it and the way he looks, he's very adamant about her her condition.

SPEAKER_08

Like he's and this is why I love him because he has faith. No, the fact if it was Jack, if it was Jack instead of Locke, he would not have believed that Kate could have gotten out of situation, which he would not have trusted.

SPEAKER_01

No, but I think I think that Jack would have put Kate in there also, because Jack wouldn't want to have like Kate. Right.

SPEAKER_08

He would keep her safe. But Jack would have said shoot me. Jack would have said shoot me reason. I think as a I think maybe I'm just taking a personal. I feel like Jack would have put Kate in there to save her, and Locke put in there to save Locke. No, I think Locke had faith and just had faith in her abilities.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely, yeah.

SPEAKER_08

And I think I think as a woman, I appreciate that. Yeah, she had to whether save him or at least be a co-conspirator. Like, right, he knew her ability. He knew her capabilities.

SPEAKER_07

He knew her capabilities.

SPEAKER_08

He knew that she was not Jack would have been just like, fuck you. I'm gonna protect you because you a woman. Right.

SPEAKER_01

Jack would have put her in there, and then when Kate got out, he would have been like, Why'd you get out? Right. And I think that's that's another reason I appreciate La for who he is.

SPEAKER_00

But this goes to show that when he's thinking clearly, quote unquote. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He's very capable of making a really good decision. Decision. Because even then we see him and Desmond having the conversation that we'll get to, he's really good at keeping the situation calm and trying to get information without seeming threatening.

SPEAKER_00

Love it.

SPEAKER_01

Whereas Jack would have been like, tell me, motherfucker, like what's this?

SPEAKER_08

And what's trying to bully his way into the information. Right. And not that he's a horrible, not that Jack's a horrible leader, his style, I think Sayed would be a better leader than Jack. Oh, no. And I think Jack is a leader by and he's a modern leader. He doesn't do it because he has to, because he wants to do it. He does it because he feels like he has to and he's forced to, which doesn't always make a good leader.

SPEAKER_06

Because he basically is pushed into leadership. And and this goes back to the whole alpha thing. It's like, you know, him and him.

SPEAKER_00

This backstaps. I know.

SPEAKER_06

Him and Sawyer are two sides of a coin. And then, woman, don't do that, because you already know what I'm gonna say.

SPEAKER_08

I was just saying, what a waste of drop, but okay, six puppy dogs.

SPEAKER_06

And you have then you have Saeed and Locke, who kind of are two sides of another coin.

SPEAKER_08

Yes. It's like a three-sided coin over here between Sayed, Sayyidina and Locke and John. Oh well, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

But I don't see Sawyer as one of the He is though, because he's Jack's he's Jack's opposite.

SPEAKER_08

I was talking about like alphas that could possibly lead the group. No, but Sawyer dies. You're like three-sided coin.

SPEAKER_06

No, but Sawyer has his Sawyer, as much as I hate his character and who he is, he has those moments where he is the most rational and and and most. Well we like Sawyer, so yeah, fuck yeah. Yeah, I just like him because he's pretty.

SPEAKER_08

Are you threatened by him? He's not my type, physically. He's not my physical type at all.

SPEAKER_06

I'd stab him in the throat, so but yo, you are so fucking violent.

SPEAKER_00

Like what what is with all the violence?

SPEAKER_01

Like, are you having like little dick tendencies right now?

SPEAKER_06

First of all, I don't have I don't have that problem to begin with.

SPEAKER_00

So where is this all coming from? Jesus.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I'm just saying. Anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Whiffa. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Wow. That got real, real quick.

SPEAKER_00

He's such a hater. Keep reading.

SPEAKER_06

I don't like him. I don't like his character. I I like even the the fact that him like the way he gets by on his bullshit is just so like it's annoying.

SPEAKER_08

It's like he's not trying to get by. He's just that it's not like he's using it to get by. He's like, fuck it. You like this shit, you like this shit. He don't care about that. I'm damnish, I don't give a fuck about nobody. If you're with it, great. If not, fuck you too.

SPEAKER_06

But he is he is that person in your life where they don't give a shit about anything and they they still can they can still they get everything still handed to them and still gifted to them and everything still seems to work out for them.

SPEAKER_00

So I don't think Sawyer is is as much as that of that person that you want to say that he is. Then the reason is because Sawyer had a fucked up childhood. Sawyer blames Sawyer, Mr. Sawyer, for all his problems. And I'll give him that. Like, that's not the healthiest way to go about your life. But Sawyer also met tragedy that most of us have never met, and he keeps people at bay. He had his father killed his mother and then killed himself while Sawyer was under the bed.

SPEAKER_06

That's still not an excuse.

SPEAKER_08

That's traumatizing. What are you fucking talking about? Considering what he went through, he's quite normal. I just say that's a traumatizing experience. His child light is trying to keep it.

SPEAKER_07

If he wasn't pretty, you guys wouldn't feel that way.

SPEAKER_08

He's not pretty to me. He's not my type. He's really not.

SPEAKER_00

He's when at the moments when they've needed him, he steps in there. He doesn't pull the whole, oh, I'll take his own.

SPEAKER_06

That's why I say he's an alpha. He is an alpha.

SPEAKER_08

No, absolutely. But he is a leader, though.

SPEAKER_06

No, I just listen, being a leader and being alpha are two totally different things.

SPEAKER_08

No, absolutely. But no, but the coin thing, I was trying to differ, like at the end of the country. No, he's still the part of four-sided coin. The alpha, the four-sided coin.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, but no, it is a four-sided coin because I feel like you have you have Jack who's the, you know, let's do this this way, and you know, we have to get this. Then you have Sawyer, who's the opposite of him, who's like kind of like the wild card.

SPEAKER_00

But Sawyer is a lot more calculating.

SPEAKER_07

He can be calculating, but he is still the wild card. He'll still do whatever the fuck he feels like.

SPEAKER_00

While Jack is like I don't think so. I feel as well as it's like. I think he's predictable. I think it's weird to be. Sawyer is clearly in it for himself. Like Sawyer's number one job in life is to protect himself from being hurt. That's why he doesn't get close to people. That's why he purposely pushes people away from him because he wants to be hurt.

SPEAKER_07

He's not evil.

SPEAKER_08

No. Okay, who else would sit there and read a fucking magazine because the baby likes the sound of my voice? He's not he's not evil. He's I mean, is he Jeffrey Dahmer evil? Is he Charles Manson evil? Absolutely not. He's not an evil person. He is damaged, yes. Is he definitely the nicest guy in the block? Absolutely fucking not.

SPEAKER_01

He's the get off my lawn guy.

SPEAKER_08

He's the yeah, he's get off my lawn, but he's not an evil person. Because an evil person would never read a magazine because a baby like the sound of his voice.

SPEAKER_06

No, I'm not saying he's evil. I'm not saying he I questioned it.

SPEAKER_07

No, what I'm saying is he's just not every like you tend to over extend who he is because of everything he has he's uh he's been through.

SPEAKER_06

So you kind of justify his actions because of what you've learned about him.

SPEAKER_08

I have a question for you. Is there a difference between justifying someone's actions and understanding? I could absolutely understand someone's actions and still hold you accountable for your bad behavior. Like, yeah, I get that you went through A, B, C, and D, but your actions were fucked up. I'm gonna hold you accountable. But so holding someone accountable, yeah, go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

So you're bad behaviors include hoarding sh shit and nicknames. I mean, it's like he didn't. Yeah, it's not like he set out to hurt someone.

SPEAKER_06

Didn't he hold out Asum?

SPEAKER_00

He didn't have it. They tortured him and he never had it.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. I don't remember the first season exactly, so we'll just edit this part.

SPEAKER_08

I don't think he had it. He's like edit the puck miles wrong.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, I don't remember.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, so I'm saying I don't remember.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, something like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But he's after but the thing is, see, he's a jerk because he didn't deny it. He didn't confirm or deny it. So why he didn't know torture him? Right, he's an asshole. But he he never said that he had it. He said he was for it.

SPEAKER_00

But then they tortured him, they stuck like bamboo in his fingernails, and Said stabbed him when he found out that he never had it. And he said that the book washed up on shore. He never had the inhaler. But then when Boone fell and Jack sent Kate to get alcohol, Kate is like, I need the alcohol, and he's like, Here, what else do you need?

SPEAKER_08

Like, no, he he's he's honestly You like you don't like him because he's like you. He's the nice asshole. I was thinking that, but then I was like, if I say it, he's yeah. He's a nice asshole. He is Alex, so that's why you're like, no, I don't like him.

SPEAKER_05

You see why I know I don't, you know what?

SPEAKER_08

Probably Lisa loves him because he loves you.

SPEAKER_06

No, I you know what? I'm gonna say it. I don't like him because she loves him.

SPEAKER_08

So I need to find loves him because she's he's like you.

SPEAKER_06

No, he's not like me.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, he is. Yes, he is. You know what? Fuck the both of you.

SPEAKER_00

He, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Sawyer is Sawyer is superficially bitchy because he'll come off with that hard exterior, but he'll try to fit like literally and figuratively push you away. Superficially doesn't want anybody to get close to him, he doesn't want to get close to somebody else. He also, I feel like he doesn't have painful childhood. He doesn't want to bow anybody, he doesn't want to love anybody.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, can we go on?

SPEAKER_08

Okay, yes. I'm hungry. I'm so sorry. Nope, that's fine. I'm gonna make myself a salad.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That white man is gonna take both of us.

SPEAKER_06

Still on the island.

SPEAKER_00

No. Oh, sorry. I was like, where do you say that?

SPEAKER_07

Jack waiting at the camps.

SPEAKER_00

All right, keep going. I was wrong.

SPEAKER_07

Decides to follow Locke and Case for the hatch. No, because it reads Jack waiting at the caves, and that's not where he was.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it was. Yes, it was. He was at the caves, and then he decides to go after Locke.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, think of the camp, the same thing.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Some will say the jungle.

SPEAKER_06

It wasn't the jungle.

SPEAKER_08

I know. Anything else.

SPEAKER_06

The jungle the mighty jungle.

SPEAKER_02

All right.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Take forty-nine. At least I didn't say sixty-nine.

SPEAKER_07

Jack.

SPEAKER_01

Was that an actual spit take?

SPEAKER_05

It was I'm never coming on this podcast ever again.

SPEAKER_08

This is probably our highest rating episode ever. This shit show.

SPEAKER_04

Anyway.

SPEAKER_06

What was that? It sounded like a giraffe dying.

SPEAKER_08

My okay, so apparently me and my daughter blow our nose the same way. So that's her blowing her nose in her room with her door closed.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, so the lighting looks perfect on this.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Sorry. I gotta clip winding over the place.

SPEAKER_04

I slap tears in my eyes for laughing so hard.

SPEAKER_06

So do I. So wow.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

So that happened.

SPEAKER_03

So Jack.

SPEAKER_04

Jack and the bean star. Just Jack.

SPEAKER_00

2020.

SPEAKER_05

Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Jack waiting at the cave, decides to follow Locke and Kate to the hatch. Claire and Charlie watch from afar. Claire suddenly notices a Virgin Mary statue in his bag. Charlie brushes it off as nothing important. So do we not realize that it's something important?

SPEAKER_08

We all know it's something important.

SPEAKER_06

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Claire is the only one who doesn't.

SPEAKER_06

Because she wasn't there. He and he says the Virgin, what does he say? The Virgin Mary? It's the Virgin Mary statue, yeah. To to protect the baby. Some shit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like it couldn't hurt to have extra protection or something.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah, it's like a condom. Don't look at me like that. I pull out.

SPEAKER_08

This reminded me of a dream I had just last night. Not of you, Alex. Not of you.

SPEAKER_04

You already know where I was going.

SPEAKER_08

But the situation is kind of weird. But anyway, go ahead.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. Gagged. Was that part of your dream also? Gagged with her hands tied tightly behind her back. Kate attempts to free herself. But the bindings on her hands are tight. Kate maneuvers her arms in front and uses the pocket knife to free herself. She finds a light switch. Discovers that she is actually in a pantry full of food with Dharma labels. She notices a ventilation shaft. But before she climbs up, she notices a Powell candy bar bitch on a shelf and cannot help eating one. So everyone could be dying, but let me have this chocolate bar right now.

SPEAKER_08

Listen, I will do the same thing. I know that that bar looks so familiar. I don't know what it is. It doesn't exist, but it looks familiar. I don't know why.

SPEAKER_05

No, it doesn't exist. It doesn't. Exist.

SPEAKER_08

Is it like like the Hudson University in Law and Order? It's like general TV, that 555 error code in Hudson University.

SPEAKER_00

I think even Oceanic Airlines comes up in other TV shows.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, okay. It does.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

I think it's kind of cool. I think it's kind of cute.

SPEAKER_06

Moving up inside the vent, she begins to crawl through. Nearby, Locke is explaining to the man about the plane crash. He says his name is Desmond. And asks, how many of the survivors are sick? A buzzard begins to sound. Desmond orders lock up. Another one of these sentences. Desmond orders Locke.

SPEAKER_00

He orders him up.

SPEAKER_06

He orders lock up, takes him to a computer, and tells him to enter the numbers. What are the numbers, Agnes?

SPEAKER_08

Wait, it's funny you ask, because after a season and two episodes, I was like, fuck it. Maybe I should write it down. And I did write it down this time.

SPEAKER_05

Give it to me, baby. Give it to me.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, take it. Four.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_08

Eight.

SPEAKER_05

Ooh.

SPEAKER_08

Fifteen.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_08

16.

SPEAKER_04

Ooh, baby.

SPEAKER_08

23.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god, right there. 42. Oh!

SPEAKER_06

And to press execute.

SPEAKER_02

I hope your mama can't do this.

SPEAKER_06

After Locke does, the buzzing stops, and the timer on the wall resets to 108, which they technically don't show. They do. No.

SPEAKER_08

When he hits execute. They hit execute and they said the thing flips over. Yeah, I think it's a good one. Yeah. It flips.

SPEAKER_06

Like like the old school, like I I I remember him hitting execute and then him talking to Desmond, but I don't recall seeing the clock flick back.

SPEAKER_08

It flips.

SPEAKER_06

Like the old school levels flipping. No, no, no. I I know in previous episodes that it I mean in further episodes it does that.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, huh? What?

SPEAKER_05

No, but it does. I saw something you didn't see? Wow. No, no, I I wasn't even drinking early. That's a problem. You're not drinking enough. It was nine o'clock in the morning. I don't do that while I'm home.

SPEAKER_02

Hello.

SPEAKER_05

Like I said, that was the problem.

SPEAKER_06

So Jack shouts for Kate and Locke. Desmond observes him through the mirror scope he has set up. Kate sees Jack through an air vent. Desmond plays loud music and Jack can't hear Kate call out for him. Desmond confronts Jack, ordering him to drop his weapon before Jack realizes that he knows the man.

SPEAKER_07

But do you feel like he like they gave up his character too soon?

SPEAKER_08

No, at least for me, no. Because I wanted like I kind of figured out what was going on. It would have pissed me off as a watcher for it to continue any longer.

SPEAKER_06

But he but the fact that he said brother and the way he said it, that's what really like that's for Jack, that clicked for him. Right.

SPEAKER_07

It wasn't the way he was speaking, is the way that he said brother.

SPEAKER_08

Right.

SPEAKER_06

And when he said brother, he was like, it familiarized something in his mind. So it was just like, is it too soon for him to like, like, it was a one-off thing in Australia that you realized.

SPEAKER_08

So like But the thing is though, the guy when he had when he met the guy, the guy, they were back home in Los Angeles when he met his wife. So to hear that so when you have a guy with the accent who called your brother on the city when you were having an uh existential crisis, that was those that that that one moment was something he wouldn't remember.

SPEAKER_06

Wait, you said with his wife.

SPEAKER_08

Well, his now wife, but you know what I mean.

SPEAKER_06

No, that's what I'm saying. It wasn't it was with a patient, it wasn't with his wife.

SPEAKER_08

With the I'm using that so I know what character I'm talking about. But you're not having existential crisis with a patient. Yeah. And it's a dude with an accent, not that's that's not an American while he was in Los Angeles, that came and they had this whole, they had a it was a short conversation, but it was relatively deep. So it's a lot for you to remember that moment. It's a moment that should be remembered.

SPEAKER_05

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Because I have random moments in my history that I'm like, why do I remember that? But there's some random things that I remember quite vividly. Like if the person, I would remember certain people, certain strangers, if they came back in my life and said certain things, I'm like, oh shit, you're this shit. I definitely will remember.

SPEAKER_06

Well, I I thankfully, and not thankfully, I can always remember people's faces, but shit, I will never remember your fucking name. I can remember you.

SPEAKER_08

I think there's like little things that remember, yeah. You remember faces, yeah. And this, like, hey brother, that was his thing. Like, because how many people call you, how many strangers call you hey brother, and an Australian accent?

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. No, so alright.

SPEAKER_08

He's like, all right, you're right.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I I can't disagree with you.

SPEAKER_08

I got that wine in my sinuses right now.

SPEAKER_06

Well, nobody told you to spit take. So, you're always supposed to swallow.

SPEAKER_08

I was trying to swallow.

SPEAKER_06

It was too much, yeah. Don't worry, been there, done that. On the raft, Sawyer emerges from the water after the attack of their raft. He manages to grab some wreckage and gets to Michael before he drowns. However, Michael is still not breathing. Sawyer begins to perform, I won't even say CPR, but he does do CPR. He pounds on his chest and manages to revive Michael.

SPEAKER_00

No, but he revives him when he's doing CPR. Like actual CPR.

SPEAKER_08

He was I think he's making fun of his technique. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Well, because he pounds first. He just bangs on his chest, but then he actually does chest compressions and gives him air.

SPEAKER_06

Which is not the technical way you're supposed to do CPR nowadays, but you're not supposed to give breaths.

SPEAKER_00

I have to take a CPR class every year. They still teach you how to do the breath.

SPEAKER_06

Please don't. Let me die.

SPEAKER_08

You got it.

SPEAKER_06

This is your wife, also. Oh bring out the Spanglish.

SPEAKER_08

I'm a New Yorker. I know I know Spanglish and New Yiddish. I know I know it all.

SPEAKER_06

Sorry begins to perform CPR and manages to revive Michael, but is forced to restrain him to stop his struggling for Walt. He refuses to give up shouting, even though the fisherman, the fishing boat, the kidnappers used, is long gone. Meanwhile, Sora screams for Jin and Michael asks Soy if he feels guilty for making the fire the flare. The two argue and Michael orders him to get off his raft, but not before they hear noises and are attacked. Sawyer's bleeding shoulder has attracted a shark. Sawyer decides to try and swim for another piece of raft wreckage after his argument, managing to hold onto a small piece. As Michael looks on, Sawyer tells him he is trying to save Walt when he was shot. Contrary to what Michael may think about him saving himself. So that whole nonsense on the raft is just like.

SPEAKER_08

Because ultimately, it's not their fault. And I think it's hard as a parent to think that it's hard as a parent, whether you're in the child's life or not, it's hard to reconcile to the fact that you had no control over this situation. So you tried to find blame. I mean he gets over quickly.

SPEAKER_06

He's he's blaming he's blaming everyone and everything.

SPEAKER_08

For the guys who kidnapped him.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah. You know, he it's and when they all, you know, when they're rationalizing everything, and I mean Sawyer's blaming him. Sawyer, you know, Michael's blaming.

SPEAKER_00

He's telling him flat out, you know, look look at it realistically. That boat can't travel very far. Rousseau said they're coming to take the kid. They found us not because of the flair, because they were looking for us.

SPEAKER_07

But it brings the question like, fuck, who told you we made a raft?

SPEAKER_00

They knew.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Remember last season, I was like, that boat being out there was suspect to begin with. Like that type of boat, that the the the others, we're gonna consider in the others. That boat, that type of boat being out there in the ocean was suspect to begin with. There's no way they can okay, so my thought process, like you were saying that and I was trying to like.

SPEAKER_01

I told Epic I was fine, she's gonna speak another way.

SPEAKER_08

Because they were floating how long on a fucking raft for what, eight to twelve hours?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know.

SPEAKER_08

I mean it was the same day. It wasn't like it wasn't weekly.

SPEAKER_00

It was into the night, so yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Right. So if you're floating eight to twelve hours and you hit okay, one of my thing is the boat is nowhere in the middle of the fucking ocean. The other's boat, the kidnappers' boat, could not be in the middle of the fucking ocean. It never would have made it. I told you that. I'm not crazy.

SPEAKER_01

You did, but I was trying to say that it was the middle of the night and you don't know where they floated to. Maybe they floated near a new island.

SPEAKER_08

But if they were that close to a new island, they would have been that close that the new island would have saw the fucking plane crash 44 days ago.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that's a good point.

SPEAKER_08

If they were that close, so like, so that's how it's kind of obvious, like science, just logic, like, okay, that's the others. They want the bud.

SPEAKER_00

Or they and they would have seen the rest blow up.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, because that's the like the others think know what's going on to begin with. Like, they may not have been up front and forward, but then like they know what's going on at the same token. Okay. Did they kill somebody at the beginning of the season? Did they kill like Steve?

SPEAKER_01

Scott, what about Scott? Okay, but how do you know that there's not just another island nearby where the others live? Right, but they're just where they floated too, and and still they knew that the survivors were there.

SPEAKER_00

Because they did see the plane crash, they just didn't come to rescue them, they just came to send Ethan or the boat to get and the fire.

SPEAKER_08

Boy, they're up to no good.

SPEAKER_00

Exactly. They still insane. Maybe they did get to another island.

SPEAKER_08

It's up to no good. And how do you know whoever it is, they're still up to no good. And how do you know that where Jin well Michael where they end up landing is the same island, right? You don't know that. I don't know that, but I do know even if they're the same island, if they're far enough or close enough, they're up to no good. Okay. Okay, they're evil. All right, but they're also close enough where you can Rousseau knows about them. So there is some kind of reaction, so they can't be far enough.

SPEAKER_06

We all know Rousseau knows something, but is unwilling. She's neither she's neither with them or against them because of she either you have to assume she was either part of their group and decided to leave or is just someone that's when you take everything into effect, she's she's Switzerland.

SPEAKER_08

I don't think they I don't think they knew. I don't think she knows the others because she said they took her child.

SPEAKER_07

So I don't foresee again, but that's but when you when you take everything into context, you don't know like her her her saying they took her child doesn't mean that she used to be part of them.

SPEAKER_06

That could have been the catalyst that made her not be with them. So are you giving me spoilers? No, no, no, no. It's absolutely not a spoiler. I'm just saying, okay.

SPEAKER_07

When you when you good point when you look at personalities, it's you look at her, you don't know what she is. She's she can be another, or she can't be. She could be that void in between.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, she could be a plant, or she could be a plant. Like you don't know, even up to now, even the fact that she warns them that the others are coming doesn't necessarily mean distraction. Exactly. It doesn't necessarily mean she's on their side. Anyway, evil, both of you evil.

SPEAKER_08

I have evil.

SPEAKER_06

Sometime later, sorry decides to pull out the bullet in his shoulder, which is impossible, very hard to fucking do. Yeah, I know, but still kind of badass for the TV that you're watching, but in real life, it may be badass, but you know how how much bigger you would have to make that hole in your shoulder to pull that tiny bullet out. So, any which way, everyone everyone bajapanti for Sawyer.

SPEAKER_08

So but still badass to watch TV though. Sure. You just don't like him. I do not. He's just like you. He's TV Alex. No. We're gonna forever now call Sawyer T. V. Alex.

SPEAKER_06

All right. Sawyer decides to pull the bullet out of the bullet out of his shoulder with his bare hand, as Michael insists he will not be able to do it. Nevertheless, Sawyer's successful, Coley asking Michael for a band-aid afterward, which is gangster. That was funny. He's gangster, you know. Got a band-aid. Still struggling at sea, Sawyer surmises that the kidnapp the kidnapper's boat was small, so it could only be local. Rousseau had said that the others were coming for the child, and while at the same time they believed this meant Aaron. Sawyer believes they were after Walt all along. Michael splashes water at Sawyer for saying his son's name, causing Sawyer's piece of wreckage to break apart. He returns to share Michael's section, and the two grudgingly sit together. Michael and Sawyer discover one of the pontoons from the raft, which is sturdier than their current piece of wreckage. Handing Michael the gun, Sawyer heads after it. The shark emerges from the ocean, and Michael violently fires four rounds for, venting his rage. Did you notice anything with the shark?

SPEAKER_08

Apparently, I missed that scene, but I did notice that the underwater scene, like when they get like that that angle with the underwater angle, was the same thing from the lost the lost eggs, like the lost, like that, that background at the beginning of the credits. It's the same angle.

SPEAKER_06

So that'll be that'll be a that'll be a piece of trivia for you at the end of this. Because you missed something. And it's it's it's hard, it's hard to see because it's very quick, but it it is a piece of trivia. Both manage to get to the pontoon and they lie down exhausted. As the sun rises, Michael promises to get back his son as the two realize that the current has brought them back to the island. We're home, ad Sawyer. The two wash up on shore and immediately hear Jin. He runs out to them shouting, Chung, Hunya, Henny, Hunya, Chin nya ha nya, chung, otthers.

SPEAKER_08

You will get us thrown off the air and scissored and they finally realize he is saying others as a group of strangers carrying weapons ominously appear, advancing on the three.

SPEAKER_00

That was like walking dead weapons.

SPEAKER_06

Yeah.

SPEAKER_08

But did you know what I said when I meant with like the view from the ocean up was the same view as the opening credit, the lost opening credit? Okay, Lisa, remember when you first started posting the teasers? That picture of lost, like the whole picture.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I see.

SPEAKER_08

Looks like that view of you in the ocean looking up to the sky, the night sky. Okay, please.

SPEAKER_05

That's that's not the trivia though.

SPEAKER_08

No, but I noticed that much.

SPEAKER_00

Let's let's just do trivia now.

SPEAKER_05

All right, um please like go give a trivia.

SPEAKER_00

All right, ready?

SPEAKER_08

I'm ready.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let me ask you something. When they show the images of the hatch and inside, tell me what you see.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, what like in the hatch? Like the ins, like inside the hatch, like the geometric dome, the old bicycle, like both like that, you mean that kind of like what else is in this? Oh shit, I hate you. Okay, there was wait, hold on. There was something that I was like, what the fuck is this? Hold on.

SPEAKER_00

And I know you noticed because I saw your face when you were watching, and you're like, Is that when I got my glasses? I don't know.

SPEAKER_06

Just to let you guys know, they had to watch the second episode together because somebody fucked up. I didn't say who. Whatever it is, whoever it was.

SPEAKER_08

I remember that I remember what it was. I think I got my glasses. I was trying to look at the company's name.

SPEAKER_07

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_08

It was two things, the company name on the boxes that she saw, but that's why I got my glasses. I'm like, I'll look at it later. I never went back.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I don't remember if the name Oh, you see it on the food stuff.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, yes, but it was something else I saw it on. The logo, I remember I remember I remember my reaction.

SPEAKER_00

The logo, it's a Dharma logo and it's on Dharma. Yeah. Yeah. It's on like everything in the hatch. Okay, yeah. I remember everything I saw. I remember seeing the logo, but I was like, what the hell is that?

SPEAKER_01

It's even on his suit that Desmond was wearing.

SPEAKER_05

When he zips up, when he zips up his his suit.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, because I'm like it looks like a maze.

SPEAKER_00

It's like an oxygen.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so with like yes, I remember seeing a couple times. So I remember like, huh? And when I finally saw it on the box, I was like, wait, let me get my glasses. But by time then I was like, okay, something's not normal. Okay, so I remember I used to watch Dahmer and Greg. I used to like Dominic.

SPEAKER_06

It has nothing to do with that. We used to like we used to watch Domer and Greg.

SPEAKER_08

No, but the name, and I don't remember the name. I know it's Hindi or Indy. I sorry if I've offended anybody, and it means I don't remember.

SPEAKER_06

It means fuck. I just love where you're going.

SPEAKER_08

Alex. And I remember it means something. And I just don't remember. That's the whole point of Dharma. It was a very spiritual, and I don't remember what it means. But so for some reason, I'm taking the name Dharma for it's whatever it means in Hindi or in the religion. You're right. Yeah, there. Okay. So can you please tell me what it means? No. I don't remember. I saw it was 20 years ago. What the fuck? I don't remember. I better remember my kid's name.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's fine, fine. You don't need to know.

SPEAKER_08

Fuck you, Alex. She's 20, but you don't look like you have you've had a kid. You don't need to know. I love when you bullshit me. So you know the little mean?

SPEAKER_06

That doesn't matter right now.

SPEAKER_08

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

The point is that you see that it's branded on Twitter.

SPEAKER_08

All over the place. Yes. I'm gonna Google it. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Um don't do that. I'll get you a definition. Yeah, don't do it. Okay. No, the logo, the logo can be seen on the tail of the shark. Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, to be fair, even though I wasn't looking, considering I didn't have my glasses on, I don't know if I would have seen it though.

SPEAKER_01

It's a it's a close-up of the shark going right past.

SPEAKER_06

When you see when Sawyer's in the water and they show the shark, they make sure that the tail of the shark has the Dharma logo on it.

SPEAKER_08

So what is this? Some kind of experimentation? Are they fake animals? I hate you.

SPEAKER_00

When Michael is talking to his lawyer, there's a brief glimpse of the World Trade Centers out the window.

SPEAKER_08

I'm so glad I didn't see that because I would have cried. You know what the funny thing is, not funny, but the ironic thing is I was just thinking about that this morning.

SPEAKER_02

Really?

SPEAKER_08

Because I happened to be making my breakfast and I looked at the time at the microwave, and it was 9-11 in the morning. And my mind went to the like those stupid Facebook posts. The people like, how awkward that then they named 9-11 after emergency number. You know, you know, the stupid shit. I was so briefly, and then I thought that like, wow, that was almost 20 years ago. Like it was like things that you know, you just your mind just Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was thinking about it this morning like, wow, that was almost 20 years ago, and I feel like it just happened. I know for any native New Yorker, it's it's it's always gonna be yesterday.

SPEAKER_06

It's it's always very like on the on the money.

SPEAKER_08

It's always just it was just yesterday. It was it just happened.

SPEAKER_00

In the scene where Locke and Desmond are talking, and Loc is telling him that there was a plane crash and they were flying. Desmond says, So the world is still out there.

SPEAKER_08

He said that? I just at that time I was like, I remember him asking how long ago he's like 44 days ago, and it's like it's ironic how he they know exactly it was 44 days ago. Meanwhile, us with our phones and like technology, we're currently in stay-at-home quarantine and can't tell you how long we've been. But did you see on the wall?

SPEAKER_00

Well, at least for Desmond.

SPEAKER_01

When they're in the hatch, you can see on the wall all the tally marks. Yes, yes, so we don't know how long Desmond has been in there, but Desmond is obviously keeping track.

SPEAKER_08

Well, longer than, you know, not as long as that equipment's been there.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_06

But I but he's been there um a significant amount of time.

SPEAKER_00

At least since the surgery. Since the surgery? Some at some time after the surgery and before they got to the island. So we don't right.

SPEAKER_08

Also, does time run different on the island? Just no, it's not a question to be answered. It's one of those I'm throwing it out there now. He might have been there for 40 years. Right. As far as he knows. Right. Um, what we know is that Go ahead. No, mine is completely my is completely random bullshit. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Oh. Well, going back to Desmond, when him and Jack were talking, he mentioned to Jack that he was training for um a sale.

SPEAKER_06

A race around the world.

SPEAKER_00

A race around the world. Which could explain how he got there. But the odds are on the same fucking island. And and when they told him how long ago they crashed on the island.

SPEAKER_04

He looked confused.

SPEAKER_07

No, he there was a moment where there was a realization in his face.

SPEAKER_08

It wasn't like how they're live for 44 days and no, like No.

SPEAKER_06

It was more of it it to me when like re-watching it and thinking about it, it was like he knows what happened 44 days ago, and it just triggered a memory.

SPEAKER_08

Ah because when he when they when he says 44 days, he looks like the like his facial expressions like, but wait, 44 days ago, something happened.

SPEAKER_06

But also he But you don't you I mean you don't get it, but you can see like a realization in his face.

SPEAKER_07

You can see a realization in his face, but you don't know what it is, though.

SPEAKER_08

Right, because he's like, well, which how many people are sick?

SPEAKER_06

It's kind of like he's expecting them to be sick or something, which which would kind of go back to the quarantine. No, to the quarantine.

SPEAKER_08

But she also said people got sick. I don't know, you know you don't remember, but she also said that people got sick.

SPEAKER_06

Okay. So it's kind of like where, you know, but again, you you have to when you take everything from season one and even to the beginning of season two, what are these people being told? Because his where are they getting it from? And where they're getting it from because his mindset is first of all, if anybody comes, anybody comes down, mind you, he's fully loaded. He got an AK that shit turned me on. I'm gonna let you know about it.

SPEAKER_04

He had a whole nines, he got a shotgun.

SPEAKER_00

He yo, he's fully loaded, and he knows a full pantry full of food.

SPEAKER_08

Exactly. That turned me on too. The pant the full pantry and the Austin all like, oh yeah, this man Agnes.

SPEAKER_06

It doesn't matter. Food and guns and a good tongue.

SPEAKER_08

Okay. Um gotta say, since the gentleman is now on a current show, I gotta say, this is my random shit. He looks better now. Like he's one of those people that age really good. I'm like, come here. He has some salt and pepper hair. He has some salt in his hair. He's hot. He's a high batati.

SPEAKER_01

He's part Peruvian. I think that's what did it for me.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know what it is, but he's a high battery.

SPEAKER_01

Scottish and Peruvian or something.

SPEAKER_08

Okay, so you looked it up.

SPEAKER_01

That's I'm gonna panties right now. I mean, I have looked it up.

SPEAKER_08

All right, Henry Ian, QSAP. I'm dropping my panties for you right now. He's a high patati.

SPEAKER_01

Keep in mind.

SPEAKER_08

All right, it's been a long time.

SPEAKER_01

After seeing another flashback from Michael, have your feelings for him changed at all?

SPEAKER_00

Have you had any new revelations?

SPEAKER_08

I still think he's a one-eight bitch baby, but I feel sorry for it. I understand him. I have a maybe it's just unfair to me. It's a fair of me. And I recognize that. And while I feel that men need to be, there's time, I think men need to be emotional. I really feel that men need to really get in cut get in touch with that emotional side. But at the same time, I need you to man up, put your panties on, and get what you get with. Listen, you're absolutely mental health, but also being like, listen, I need to I need someone with bigger balls than me.

SPEAKER_06

He he he he absolutely bitched out in all the situations that were presented to him when it had to be.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly, thank you, Abs.

SPEAKER_06

Absolutely bitched out. Listen, my father told me from when I was young, it's okay to cry as a man, it's fine. But when you have to be a man, you have to be a man.

SPEAKER_08

I think, and it's funny you say that because I feel the same thing about a woman. Like with my I don't think Lisa and I have been in that situation, but I think she knows my character enough to know. Like, I would sit there and I'll cry with you, but after we're crying, I'm like, let's get the fuck up and what we're gonna do to fix the issue. Yeah, and that's the type of person I am, and that's how that's how I'm a friend to my friends. So my expect my man to be the same way.

SPEAKER_06

My question to you will be Yes, how do you how do you feel because your boy is locked, when Jack was giving his his speech to the cave? How did you interpret that whole situation?

SPEAKER_08

I don't remember the speech well enough to look tipsy right now.

SPEAKER_01

He was he was saying about two beers and a half bottle of wine. They're gonna stay in the caves, and he promises that they're going to make it to see the sun come up and not to worry that they're they're they're all gonna stick together and they're gonna be okay, and they had a hatch and it didn't work out, and and then Locke has the cable and he walks past everyone and he's like, Well, I'm tired of waiting.

SPEAKER_07

It's actually a big scene.

SPEAKER_01

It technically wasn't the first episode, but yeah.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, that's why I kinda kind of like I watched that first episode a couple days ago. It was kind of a big fuck you to um, I gotta say, I don't like Jack, but I don't hate him either. It was a good it was a good speech to tell people to keep them calm, I get it, but Locks it was kind of a big fuck you. No, which is exactly towards Jack.

SPEAKER_06

But even even Kate, even Kate realized what Jack said and realized it was out of character because if you realize his flashback and that speech were the same thing, where he lied, he lied to his his patient and then lied to the people.

SPEAKER_08

I think he was really lying per se. I think we don't have the answer. No, I think the difference between straight out lying and straight out saying it like we don't have the exact I think on some level, if we don't know an answer, it's better than like listen, we're gonna work it out, we're gonna figure it out.

SPEAKER_06

But that's not Jack's but that's the thing, that's kind of the whole point. That's not Jack's MO. And that's why Kate approached him and was like, that was a good thing that you did. Because it was God.

SPEAKER_07

It was Jack's MO was full of shit. No, no, but that's what makes it a big, a big thing.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it's a big thing, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Because Kate actually has to approach him and say to him that was a good thing you did, because she knew that he was basically just trying to get everyone to be calm, and that's not what he thought.

SPEAKER_06

And then you have speech, and then you have then you have Locke come behind him trying to be a bigger person and be like, listen, my Mandingo is bigger than yours, and I'm gonna go down the hole, and I'm gonna fix this. And then and he did it on purpose though, because he could have gotten the wire and just left, but he got the wire in front of everybody.

SPEAKER_07

Of everybody.

SPEAKER_08

Because he knew Jack was going to react to him doing it, and he and he said I think he wanted a reaction because everything out of his mouth was Jack, you're right.

SPEAKER_06

Jack, you're right, Jack, you're right, but I'm gonna do whatever the fuck I want to do.

SPEAKER_07

And I don't give a fuck. So again, this is what makes this.

SPEAKER_08

I think in his eyes, he was forcing Jack to scratch. No, no, he absolutely was forcing him to do to take to man up because I don't think, okay, if if um Locke didn't go when he went and he's and he said uh we'll wait till the morning would have done it the next morning. You know what I mean? Because the whole plan was we'll wait till there's light and then we'll see, then they would have done it. But think about it. I don't think Jack would have waited. No, no, no, but I don't think Jack would have done it to begin with.

SPEAKER_00

I think of like I don't know, but no, I don't know about that.

SPEAKER_01

Um Jack would have been but think about it though, maybe more cautious, even if it wasn't really his MO, but maybe it would have been because it was Locke's idea and not Jack's. Jack is only head first when it's Jack's idea.

SPEAKER_08

I think that's I think I think that was part of it because Jack was so gung-ho, like again, let's open up the latch, open up the hatch, as soon as Abby's like, okay, no, stop. I think it would it he went from 100 to 0. No, it was the hatch was open.

SPEAKER_06

No, it was it was the broken ladder, I think, for Jack. It was the broken ladder, and it only took the the most smallest negative for him to give up at that moment. It wasn't it wasn't the fact that he didn't want it because he wanted it, but the fact that that negative showed up, he immediately disregarded everything and wanted to.

SPEAKER_08

If you really want something, you gotta find a way, you gotta find a lot of solutions, and that's why I'm gonna do that. So he didn't want to find a way. Just the last so Jeff never really wanted it to begin with. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_00

The whole point of opening the hatch, as far as Jack is concerned, is to hide 40 some odd people in it to protect them from the others.

SPEAKER_01

Now there's a broken ladder, they cannot easily get in and out, they don't know what's down there, exactly have no idea. So, like he said, the prospect of 40 some people having to repel down is just not practical.

SPEAKER_06

Especially when you don't know what's down there and you're three hours and it's the middle of the night to get there. And when you when you look at the time frame, okay, we got that right. When you look at the time frame, it was shit. It was like three o'clock, four o'clock in the morning because happened.

SPEAKER_08

You're right, you're absolutely right.

SPEAKER_06

Because at one point, I think somebody says it's gonna be light. Oh, when Jack is talking to everyone, he's like, in three hours, it's going to be light.

SPEAKER_08

Why is everyone awake though? That's why I want to know. I wouldn't have been because they're scared.

SPEAKER_06

Because they're scared. You have someone threatening you, you have someone threatening that others, but but these people don't know. You gotta realize, too, when you think about the situation, you only have 10 people that are proactive. All these 30 sign other people aren't doing shit.

SPEAKER_08

So, okay, so you have Said is still at the camp. Yes. And you have a couple of the other main characters still at the camp that can like be his backup. But then smart to no, but you but they're at the camp. You have Saeed, like, listen, I know we can't sleep, but we're useless exhausted. We'll take shifts, like I just don't see how the comments disrupt.

SPEAKER_06

But I will say that.

SPEAKER_08

At least lay down and close your eyes. And they were you know the beat jack.

SPEAKER_06

I will say that's one of the mistakes they did with this episode is that they they went to the hatch, they did everything, right? But Saeed wasn't a part of it. They got back to the camp.

SPEAKER_00

Said didn't want to be a part of it.

SPEAKER_06

But they got back to the camp and they never included Saeed in any of the conversations.

SPEAKER_00

He said it was a bad idea.

SPEAKER_06

I I I understand.

SPEAKER_04

But coming back to the camp, but coming back to the camp. Said should have been part of the conversation.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, I think he's one of those people. At the very least, he if he's the only one there from the camp, everyone's gonna look towards him while you're at the camp.

SPEAKER_06

Exactly. And on top of that, even still, the fact that they, you know, when Hurley tried to speak to Jack and Jack kind of dismissed him, it's like Hurley doesn't run off at the mouth. Like, it's it's not something that he does. So giving him the attention that needed to be given should have been like, you know what? And I understand with all the chaos that's going around, it's hard to like differentiate, you know, people's opinions, uh, but it's like it's a guy that's not like uh a fanatic or like like a conspiracy theorist or like he's just crazy with his theory. It's not like uh the drug addict. What's his name? Charlie Charlie Charlie. You know, it's not Charlie who who's at a whim, you know, starts spewing shit. This is a guy that doesn't speak, that doesn't say anything, and that is warning you when he sees uh, you know, numbers.

SPEAKER_08

And when he does speak, he's usually right. Like they need to like everyone is stressed. We need to like we need to we need to play a game, right? We need to do something, and he was right. And I find that this maybe this is just me reading too much into it, but I find that a lot to do with the way he looks. If he wasn't, I mean, I it's it's he doesn't get respect. It doesn't get to think of the right wording and the right the correct phrase, but I can't think of it right now. I got holes in my brain. But if he wasn't an overweight, doofy looking guy, his his his what he says would have been taken more at you. I mean it has a lot to say but way how people that are overweight or don't look the way people think they should look, whether you're overweight or too skinny or too dark or too light, or your blonde hair like Shannon. Like if you don't look the way people think you should look to demand respect, they're not gonna respect you. Well, you can you can and the show does it quite well in demonstrating the way people discriminate against subtly.

SPEAKER_06

Well, you can you can add that to Sawyer and Jack and how they're immediately looked upon as leaders and oh people white man. Exactly.

SPEAKER_01

And in fairness, he's also a doctor, which means that he has He has an assumption of intelligence, doesn't necessarily mean he's intelligent.

SPEAKER_08

The funny thing is, Saeed, if okay, once you get to know people, let's say day five, day 10, and as you get to know people's backgrounds and you get to learn more about the people, Saeed. If he wasn't Middle Eastern, he's better qualified than all of us. Said is exactly my point. He's exactly more qualified. I mean, I get when the plane first crashed, and you have a doctor that's taking over and people going look towards him.

SPEAKER_06

But as you get to know people, people's the motherfucker I want in my crane.

SPEAKER_08

Do the same. So I think the show has a lot to do with discrimination, shows a lot of discriminations and stereotypes, and they do it so well.

SPEAKER_06

I don't I don't think I don't think they have any intent on it. I honestly don't think they they they set out for it, but it's they did a good job with it nonetheless. It it is very apparent that the one person on the island that is far more equipped than almost anyone other than uh Jerk Off Lock to handle whatever's happening on the island is is him. He's the only one more rational and have a skill set and the only time he's irrational is when he's when he was dealing with Shannon. That's the only time he's irrational.

SPEAKER_08

And he does irrational within thinking with their loved ones.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay, let's do the title. I mean, okay.

SPEAKER_08

Adrift.

SPEAKER_00

In keeping with the title of the episode, both sets of events. Shown in this episode present Michael at times when he is quote unquote adrift in his life with no sense of direction or purpose other than get Walt back. In his past, this spiritual emptiness probably continued until the events of special.

SPEAKER_01

In the present, he finds his way back to solid ground, giving him a solid direction and purpose again. I conclude.

SPEAKER_08

And plus they're literally obvious.

SPEAKER_06

I think that was I think that was just too obvious. But yeah. I did honestly for me this you can see his emotional pain.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, this is a delay. I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_06

No, it's fine. Don't worry about it. No, no, keep going. No, no. You were going first.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, oh, was I? Okay. I you can see.

SPEAKER_06

I finished last, always.

SPEAKER_08

Oh, baby. I love what you talk dirty to me. I gotta charge my computer up. You can see his pain. Like, oh my god. Like, I felt his pain at the last scene when he woke up the next morning, and you could like he you could feel his emotion. Like he felt his emotional pain. To feel your emotional pain is like gut-wrenching. Like we've all been in positions where we like we've been emotionally hurt, but it physically hurts.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, he's he's also going through like you know, the stages of grief.

SPEAKER_08

I felt for him, and I was like, oh, I didn't cry because you know, but my heart was like, oh you don't even have to why do people say that about me? People who don't know me say that. Lisa knows I'm a big sap.

SPEAKER_07

I'm it was funny.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so up until now, these episodes and any before. What questions do you still have that are unanswered so far?

SPEAKER_01

Or you know, questions that you want answered about the episode, the island, the show, whatever.

SPEAKER_08

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

We gotta start writing them down because they're gonna be coming up more.

SPEAKER_06

Honestly, it's it's it's more of a islands get there.

SPEAKER_08

Yeah, it's getting to the point where I don't have as much questions, and the questions I do have are kind of like bullshit questions that I don't expect to be answered. No.

SPEAKER_01

No, there's no such thing as a bullshit question.

SPEAKER_08

No, there isn't. Those fucking numbers are pissing me the fuck off. No, how does the numbers and the islands like I don't get it? It's pissing me the fuck off.

SPEAKER_06

No, but those numbers, you the the the minute that Hurley brings those.

SPEAKER_08

Yes, we see them all over the place, but what this is what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_06

The moment that Hurley brings them to life, it it it gives them a life of their own. And even when you when you when uh Desmond asks Loc to put the numbers in, you automatically start saying the numbers, and you don't even know that what the fuck he's he's telling Locke to do. And you know what the numbers once he says the first number, you already know where you're going.

SPEAKER_08

But that has nothing to do with Hurley because Hurley has these numbers from what he heard.

SPEAKER_01

But wait, but he's been putting those numbers in but Hurley is even crash on the island, but Hurley is a little bit more than a person, but right, but for as far as the audience knows, now that's a connection. Now Locke may not realize the connection, Desmond because we don't like the collection.

SPEAKER_08

The connection the catalyst, but these numbers have something to do because he heard these numbers from someone else. I like like who was in the war, like and they heard from someone else. Sam to me.

SPEAKER_06

But they're his number. At the end of the day, when you look at all the when you look at the flashback, it's it it still winds up to him. I'm not saying he's the he's the center of it, but when you look at all the clues, like he knows those numbers are bad. He's he he got those numbers, and no, he no. The fact when he read the numbers on the hatch, he knew shit's not going to go right right now.

SPEAKER_00

But he didn't he didn't make that connection. Then at that moment, the only person that he spoke that to was Jack after the fact.

SPEAKER_06

No, he said when he saw the numbers like the numbers are bad. No, but when he saw the numbers, he's like, no, stop, do not detonate, do not detonate, do not do anything. This is a bad, this is a bad situation.

SPEAKER_00

My point is that he didn't specify he couldn't know. Locke is putting in the numbers, and Locke doesn't understand that 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 are the same.

SPEAKER_06

Just so let you know, she she rec she remembers the numbers.

SPEAKER_00

I do. I you know what I also remember? I'll tell you later. Uh like a number of something later on in the show.

SPEAKER_01

I it stuck with me, it never left. What bothers me is the continuity. Okay, no, but my point is that he's saying that Hurley is like the catalyst, but we see the connection.

SPEAKER_00

We see oh shit, Desmond's been putting these numbers in and Locke is now entering the numbers. But Locke doesn't make the connection.

SPEAKER_06

No, no, I'm I'm not saying I'm not saying that. I'm saying that the the when you as far as the numbers are concerned, up to this point, they revolve around Hurley. Hurley's the only one that knows what those numbers represent to him, to him, to only him, and he hasn't shared it with anyone.

SPEAKER_08

He should I get that Russo, but so he yeah, my thing is though with him, he yes, he's the one that can put light onto the numbers, but I don't see him as a catalyst. He might be a the shining light onto the light, to the but the the numbers were already an issue before he even landed on the fucking island. No, no, no, but he's not the he's at the flashlight 16 years.

SPEAKER_06

We've established that till number the numbers the numbers exist, but before him, he's just before him, he's just a flashlight, but they only mean something to one person, right? They literally only mean something to one person, and that's him.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

Like what but my my whole thing is I don't like what what confuses me, like what is the numbers that I don't do, period. I mean that's fine, Harley. It's not about the characters per se, it's this the numbers and the item. What the fuck? That's my biggest.

SPEAKER_06

Honestly, I don't I don't remember. I don't remember if we even get an answer to that.

SPEAKER_08

See, that's my only question. That's my only question that I have to answer.

SPEAKER_06

I don't go down too much.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, keep going. I keep going.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's finish. Come on.

SPEAKER_06

All right, so kids are starving.

SPEAKER_01

I I think that if you don't have anything else, then this will that'll do it for this episode.

SPEAKER_00

I think so too. I concur, Lisa. So our next episode is called Orientation, and it's a lock-centric episode.

SPEAKER_01

So going into the next episode, is there anything that you're hoping to find out about Locke or any information that you're hoping to get? How do you end up with the fuck? How do you end up on the wheelchair?

SPEAKER_08

That's one thing I want to know.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, all right. So thank you to our special guest.

SPEAKER_06

I don't know if you want to thank me.

SPEAKER_08

Anyway, I had a good time.

SPEAKER_06

Oh no, you had it. This is your best episode yet.

SPEAKER_08

Actually, there was one episode that we had to drink every time we had a sexual indoor. In translation, I think. That was a good episode. That was the one we got fucked up. Yeah.

SPEAKER_06

Well, you don't you don't want to get fucked up with me because I make you do things, so it's different.

SPEAKER_08

Stop recording.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_08

So this, so we do the sign-off, and they're gonna ask you a non-lost question as a man. Oh, as a man. Okay. All right, so the best I got.
