Hey listener, Lisa here. Just wanted to give a brief intro about this episode. This episode was actually recorded a couple of weeks ago. And right now, in light of everything going on across the country and across the world, most of us are in quarantine, myself included. Just wanted to let you all know that we're feeling okay and we are hanging in there. We are doing the best that we can. We hope you are too. If you need anyone to talk to, feel free to reach out. We are a community. We want you to know that we are here for you, and we hope that you are doing the best that you can under the circumstances. Thank you so much for listening.
SPEAKER_06Remember me? Hugo. Why was it? You know, in the neighborhood and um look, Lenny, I gotta know. What do the numbers mean?
SPEAKER_01Welcome to Sassin's Sips, where every week we will be discussing and dissecting an episode of Lost in Order. I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And this week's episode is numbers. Numbers, numbers, numbers. Neither of us are experts, just fans who like to drink and dish. What are you drinking?
SPEAKER_02I'm having a quarantine. It's like a martini, so you just drink it alone. Okay, stop fucking. So you ask me again.
SPEAKER_01What are you drinking today?
SPEAKER_02My tried and trusty friend Stella.
SPEAKER_01Nice. Can't go wrong. I have vodka and cranberry.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_01The lime. Oh, you're fancy. Fancy, I know. Gotta start working through some of this vodka here. I can come help. You should come help.
SPEAKER_02Anything for a friend, I'll take one for the team.
SPEAKER_01Today's episode is numbers. Focuses in on Hurley. This is the 18th episode of the season, and we finally get a Hurley episode.
SPEAKER_02Finally. And this is not what I expected. Not what I expected. Did you like it? It was okay. I'm st I rolled my eyes, just for those of you who can't see me. I think I don't think anyone could see. Well, I think you could hear the eye rolling.
SPEAKER_01Alright, let's just dive in.
SPEAKER_02Let's do this.
SPEAKER_01So in flashbacks, at home, Hurley watches television while arguing with his mom about his life. She's telling him, Are you watching those G-string muhetas again?
SPEAKER_02I was embarrassed for him at that moment.
SPEAKER_01Um, he discovers that he has won the lottery with the numbers 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. Then he faints. After winning, Hurley speaks to the press at his house. When asked how he thought of these six numbers, he claims the numbers just sort of came to him. During the press conference, Hurley reveals that he is going to give some of the money to his hardworking grandpa Tito. But at that moment, the older man suffers a heart attack and dies. I know it's probably going to hell, but he just said he wanted to give him the rest that he deserved.
SPEAKER_02I mean, be careful what you wish for. I was just like, damn.
SPEAKER_01Probably no better rest.
SPEAKER_02No one's gonna disturb you. Okay, this is so going to hell. You've got to edit this one out.
SPEAKER_01More bad luck befalls Hurley over the next several days. His brother's wife, Lisa, leaves him for a waitress.
SPEAKER_02I'm so sorry.
SPEAKER_01And and and the mother's like, don't speak to me about that whore.
SPEAKER_02The priest at the funeral.
SPEAKER_01Father Aguilar was struck by lightning. Oh. He tells his mother he thinks the money is cursed, but his mom ignores him, saying that they are Catholic and they do not believe in curses.
SPEAKER_02I laughed at that one because I took it at personal. I was like, that's funny. It's true.
SPEAKER_01Hurley had bought his mom a new house, but when he takes her to see it, she breaks her ankle and the new house is on fire.
SPEAKER_02Okay, so he goes, put this on, and I see a red bandana. I'm like, uh-oh, what's gonna happen? This episode, like up to this part, I was like, okay, I need a drink because I was just I just want to cry this episode. I was like, oh no, not Hurley.
SPEAKER_01Pasibaka. The next moment the police show up and arrest Hurley, believing him to be a drug dealer. So, but that scene goes back to a scene he did on Kirby Your Enthusiasm. He played a drug dealer on that show. I I I don't remember who from Lost saw him, and that's why they wanted to cast him because they saw him in that scene.
SPEAKER_02So it's kind of like a you know six degrees of separation thing going on. Okay. Yeah. I never watched Kirby Your Enthusiasm, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01I I didn't watch enough of it to remember. Later, in his financial advisor, Ken Halperin's office, he tells Hurley every one of his stocks are up. His interest in Orange Future skyrocketed after Tropical Storm hits Florida. He is now majority shareholder of a box company in Tuston. I caught that.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Lisa's gonna be so proud of me that I caught that.
SPEAKER_01And his sneaker company in Canada, which destroyed which was destroyed in a fire where eight people died, was overinsured and will yield him a windful of cash. Plus, Hurley got a financial sediment stemming from his false arrest by the LAPD. After hearing about more bad things happening associated with his lottery winnings, Hurley comes to the conclusion that it's not the money that's cursed, but the numbers he used to win. As Ken is assuring Hurley there is no such thing as a curse, a man falls past the window behind them.
SPEAKER_02Why was that so funny to me? I was like, this man just fell off a building, and I find this to be funny. I was like, I'm going to hell.
SPEAKER_00Hey everyone, Lisa here. I want to take a moment to tell you about this really cool travel backpack that I got. It's made by Muslim and it's so cool. As you know, Agnes and I are not in the same state. So we travel to see each other quite frequently. This backpack makes it so easy to do so. The bag has space for everything. When I fly, I don't like to check a bag. This makes it so easy for me to bring everything that I need with me on carry-on, including recording equipment. It has a space for everything. Trust me when I say that if you travel, even if it's just for a road trip, this bag is perfect for you. Go to muzzum.com now and use our promo code SASPOD for 20% off of your new bag. Trust me when I say you'll love it.
SPEAKER_01Curly visits the Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute where he asks to see someone named Leonard. The scene when he gets there and the guy's on the ladder there. The ladder? He's like, uh can you not do that right now?
SPEAKER_02I felt his pain at that moment.
SPEAKER_01Leonard is a former U.S. naval officer Hurley met while both were patients at the institute. Not what I was expecting. But I'm not surprised either. Leonard keeps repeating the numbers over and over. And when Hurley tells him he used these numbers to win the lottery, Leonard becomes hysterical, screaming, Hurley had opened the box and he must get away from those numbers or it won't stop.
SPEAKER_06Is that what you're hearing, Danny? It's because of the numbers. Did they do something to you? Because I think they did something to me. I think they turned me into a jinx. Bad news to everyone around me. When I tell people I think I'm the god, they they they look at me like I'm nuts. They don't believe me. But I know. Ever since I won a lottery with those numbers.
SPEAKER_02Lennon got uncrazy real fast once he found out. He went from mumbling and then he was like, Wait, what? I was like, Okay. It was like a it's like when you're drunk and some shit happens and you get sober real quick.
SPEAKER_01You hear sirens.
SPEAKER_02You're like, I didn't see I wasn't gonna go there. Cause I don't go out unless I'm driving. Because I want to make sure I get home when I want to get home. So that means I'm never drinking when I go out. So I need drink when I'm on a podcast with you.
SPEAKER_03Yay. Yay!
SPEAKER_02Yes, we're bonding over alcohol. Like any well-adjusted adult. You drink your feelings, you bond over alcohol, you know.
SPEAKER_01Workers in the institute grab Leonard and drag him out of the room. He tells Hurley he heard the numbers from Sam Toomey, who had heard them in Cal Gourley, Australia. In Australia, Hurley is told by Toomey's wife, Martha, that Leonard and Sam Toomey had heard the numbers about 16 years ago.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh, uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01Repeatedly through a looping radio broadcast while they were stationed at a listening post to monitor the Pacific. Just like Hurley, Sam used the numbers and met with similar bad luck. As a result, Sam likewise came to believe the numbers were cursed, and eventually he shot himself. Martha confidently says she believes the numbers are not cursed. So 16 years ago they heard the numbers, and who else is associated with those numbers 16 years ago?
SPEAKER_02Well, you're talking about the transmission, the original transmission, right? Right, yeah, I caught that. I was seeing I was paying attention this time.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so on the island, day 35. While building a new raft, Michael comes up with the idea to build a distress beacon. Jack and Hurley come to Saeed to ask for his help in building the beacon and then finding the way to Rousseau's camp so they can get a new battery. Said tries to discourage them, saying Rousseau is crazy and the maps he stole from her are useless. Hurley notices one of Rousseau's maps, where she had written the six numbers over and over again that changed his life. Hurley wakes Said up in the middle of the night asking him if he and Shannon figured out the meaning of the numbers Rousseau wrote. Said like, can I help you? He's like, nah, man, just wanted to make conversation. That was funny.
SPEAKER_02He's like, you know when you're in a dead sleep and your Tyler comes in your room and just staring at you, you're like, what the fuck, dude?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's exactly what that was like. Said says he thought it might be coordinates of some kind. Hurley also asks him about the cable Said found and wonders if her camp is close. When Saeed becomes suspicious, Hurley says goodnight and goes back to his tent with one of the maps under his shirt. Day 36. In the caves, Hurley packs his backpack with water bottles. Charlie arrives, asking Hurley what he's what he's doing. Hurley claims he's going to find some new fishing area. Charlie wants to join, but Hurley wants the alone time. Then the four water bottles fall from his bag and Charlie looks at him. Hurley says he's a big guy and he gets dehydrated easily.
SPEAKER_02I still I like him. He's such a c he's a cute kid. This one I pinch his cheeks. Something about him is lovable.
SPEAKER_01Back at camp, Locke enlists the help of Claire with the project he is working on. She says she will probably not be able to be much help as she's almost nine months pregnant, but Locke claims she's perfect for the job. Meanwhile, Saeed finds out that someone stole Drusso's paper and confronts Jack, accusing him of make Curly do his dirty work.
SPEAKER_02He annoys the fuck out of me, Saeed. Never is his explosive volatile personality, he goes from zero to a hundred real quick and annoys the fuck out of me. I'm like, uh. But that's it. He's every time he comes home, it's just like a major eye roll.
SPEAKER_01He soon realizes that Jack does not know what Said is talking about and asks Charlie if he saw Hurley. Charlie says he did a few hours ago and he acted very weird. Actually, he says he acted like a loon. As Jack and Charlie prepare to leave, Said says goodbye to Shannon, who is worried about Saeed going. When Saeed asks her if she is worried about him, Shannon says, So what if I am? Said tells her he'll be fine. Hurley finds the cable and follows it until he steps on a pressure trigger to one of Rousseau's traps, just as Said, Jack, and Charlie catch up with him. If Hurley moves, a large trap with sharp sticks will be released. Hurley says, I'm telling you I can make it. I'm spry. The others try to talk him out of it. He makes his decision and jumps. The trap misses him. When they ask him what he is doing, he claims he is going after Rousseau so he can get a battery. Said reluctantly suggests that he will take the lead. The search party reaches a rope bridge. After Hurley crosses it successfully, Charlie gives it a try. Along the way, the bridge breaks apart, but Charlie makes it across. Said and Jack are left on the other side. They tell Charlie and Hurley to stay where they are, but Hurley is determined to continue the search. Charlie shouts at him, saying they should listen to them, claiming Hurley is acting like a bloody lunatic. Back at camp, Michael and Jim have a tiff over the raft building, and Sawyer leaves in disgust. In a distance from Jin and Michael arguing are Son and Kate sitting together on the beach. Son tells Kate Jin won't ever speak to her again. Kate tells her he needs time, and Son asks Kate if when the raft sails, if she thinks he will leave with them. Kate is unsure what to say. Elsewhere, Claire is still helping Locke build a mysterious object. The two discuss Claire's memory and Locke's special survival abilities. He also asks if she already has a name for her unborn child. Claire says she hadn't really thought about it. Like what else do you have to do?
SPEAKER_02Right, right, because I get up to now you had no plans of keeping the baby, but you've been in this island for over a month. Don't you think you'd no figure it out? I don't know. It's not like you're like three months pregnant, you had time. You're due any day now. But anyway.
SPEAKER_01She reveals she was gonna give it up for adoption. Claire also mentions it's her birthday. Locke then turns the completed object over, revealing it as a cradle for when the baby is born, a birthday gift. He is the best assist. I love Locke. How did she not realize what the hell he was doing?
SPEAKER_02Hell he was doing. She's not the brightest bum in the box.
SPEAKER_01Let's just say she's the same person who's gonna be like, oh, I didn't know that was Superman because he took off his glasses. Meanwhile, Jack and Said find Rousseau's camp. Jack accidentally hits a trap, a tripwire, and the whole camp explodes. They cannot find the batteries Rousseau had, and Saeed comes to the conclusion that she knew one day Said would come back, and so she abandoned the camp and booby trapped it to harm him. Elsewhere in the jungle, Charlie demands that Hurley tell him why they are looking for the French woman, and he knows it has nothing to do with batteries. When Hurley is about to reveal his secret, they hear gunshots and start running. Hurley eventually comes face to face with Rousseau, holding a gun at him. Hurley tells Rousseau he is from the same plane as Saeed. That guy you tortured was on. He shows her a piece of paper with the numbers and asks her why she wrote them and if they have any meaning. Hurley gets angry telling her that out of all the island's mysteries, he wants some answers for the numbers' appearance.
SPEAKER_04It must appear in the French chick. I got you tortured.
SPEAKER_07I'm looking for the ride. No, I want some freaking.
SPEAKER_02He freaked the fuck out. Her face was the ultimate what the fuck face. Like that had me keep it had me cackling. I was like because her face alone was the best part of the whole show of this whole episode.
SPEAKER_01This was the best scene in the whole episode.
SPEAKER_02It was. It really was. He's like, I don't know. Deraise giraffe. I don't know. I'm going with it. I'm cool with it, but I need answers. I knew this is gonna be your favorite scene when I heard when I watched it. He goes, Durage giraffes. I was like, Lisa's gonna look at it.
SPEAKER_01Good old fun time hurley. She tells him her story, how she heard how she and the rest of her science expedition picked up a transmission with the voice repeating those numbers. After several weeks, they found the radio tower up by the Black Rock. While they tried to figure out the meaning of the numbers, all of the members became sick. So she returned to the radio tower and changed the numbers transmission to the distress signal. So you already got that the numbers that Sam and came from the yeah, came from the They heard the same transmission.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Poor. That's bananas. The part before he gets to her, and Charlie was like, You owe us an explanation. And I was like, I'm thinking, no one told your fool asses to chase him behind him. You he owes you nothing. But that's just me.
SPEAKER_01Rousseau says that the numbers were what brought her to the island, like they brought Hurley. She says since the first time she heard them, only bad things happened to people she cared about. She agrees with Hurley's assertion that the numbers may indeed be cursed. Hurley, who has waited a long time to hear someone agree with him, hugs her and thanks her. He just wraps her up in a big ass bear hug.
SPEAKER_02Bear hug. And I get I get the whole just the sense of I'm not fucking crazy. Like you just need confirmation. Like I'm not the only one. I'm not fucking crazy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. He catches up with Jack Said and Charlie and gives them a battery. He also delivers a message from Rousseau to Said. She says, Hey.
SPEAKER_02He was that's the best part of Hurley that I like. He just like were like nonchalant, like, what? Alright, let's go. Like, I love that. I was like, yeah, Hurley.
SPEAKER_01Back at camp, Hurley confesses to Charlie he thinks the plane crashed because of him. He tells him that bad things happened to. People around him, but Charlie interrupts him and says, Back on the plane before it broke off in midair, he was snorting heroin in the toilet. He claims he could not even take a flight without taking drugs. I suppose that was your fault as well. Hurley finally tells him that back home he's worth $156 million. Charlie believes Hurley is lying and leaves Hurley saying, I bear my soul, and all I get is bloody jokes. On another part of the island, the hatch that Boone and Locke discovered is shown in the jungle. The numbers are embossed on it. So now we know why when he owes Walt all that money, he's like, I'm good for it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I get it now. I forgot about that part. Yeah, he's like, I'm I just thought he was just being facetious. You know, they're all stuck on the island, like it is what it is.
SPEAKER_01So maybe that's how he carries all his lottery winnings around in a Halliburton case.
SPEAKER_02Right, because I'm like, how did they want to win this Halliburton case? You know what? Okay, at the end of the series, do they get off this island and does he pay Walt the money?
SPEAKER_01That's all Hurley has a connection to, in a sense, he has a connection to Rousseau because it was the same numbers that brought them both to the island. He owns Locke's box company.
SPEAKER_02That's hysterical. So, and then in on the other episode when they saw him in the on the TV screen the back, was that them? Was that him doing the Delato conference? Because I missed that scene. Was that him on T was that what they saw? Him talking about I don't know. Because I must go back.
SPEAKER_01Here's why I don't know. It just the setting doesn't seem the same. Okay. But you go watch it and see, like, just watch that scene and see if and compare the two. It's to me, it doesn't seem it seems like it could be something else.
SPEAKER_02Alright, I'm gonna go back and watch it and see if I can find connection.
SPEAKER_01But everyone I mean there might be something else that's newsworthy.
SPEAKER_02I I'm just saying, like, but maybe the interview him by his false arrest. I kind of want to see what it was. I gotta see. I don't see if I can figure it out. Because everyone's got this something.
SPEAKER_01A lot of people just think that that's the connection, but I to me it just doesn't the scenes don't seem to match up. And like, why would Korea care about a lot opener?
SPEAKER_02But we don't know what he was watching. He could be watching American TV. I just think this sounds really crazy. I know this whole fucking show is crazy. It's like the island is pulling these people to them. Like, what like it's just random. Like they all have a connection somehow, no matter how trivial it is, and they all ended up being on that plane from total random shit. Right. The island is calling you, calling you.
SPEAKER_01The lottery announcer. Was I not paying attention again? Okay, go ahead. It's brief, but she's the same woman that Sawyer was in bed with. Remember when Hibbs comes to the room? Yeah, I remember that scene. I didn't click that was the same person. It's the same person. Holy fuck. But and wait, and wait, and then the side note in real life, she's married to Michael. That's Michael's wife in real life. Is it?
unknownThat's so funny.
SPEAKER_02Because you know, it's like in Law and Order.
SPEAKER_01Before they get uh uh uh a long-term part in the show, like the season before they play like a random part, like the well she's not she's not married to him in the show, no, but it's funny how people just pop in and out, it's Harold Perrineau's wife, it's not Michael Dawson's wife.
SPEAKER_02No, but it's kind of funny, it's like they how they're just random people are popping in and just like, oh, that's so cute. Okay, because I was watching Law and Order again. I watched Law and Order, and the lieutenant, the season before she was a defense attorney. I was like, ah! But every so often, and then what's your call? It was too Briscoe, Jerry Albach, like the season before he started, he was a defense attorney in an episode.
SPEAKER_01It was one episode, and even Barbara was on criminal intent before he was on SBU. Playing uh playing a lawyer, but a corrupt lawyer. See how funny. I love that. They're like, let's test you out. Every time Death is close, Hurley escapes it.
SPEAKER_02So you know, I find that he's supposed to be like some kind of it's like a curse or whatever. But since he's been on the island, well, before this episode, he has there has been no jinky things that's happened at all. No, no, he hasn't had any near misses, like none of this before this episode of the bridge, but yeah. Okay, was that intentional from the writers or just an oversight? We'll never know.
SPEAKER_01If you won the lottery, if you won that jackpot, what would you do? Pay my bills. Okay. I know we got bills. You can't possibly has a hundred you can't possibly have 150 million dollars worth of bills. Did you just say you'd buy a man?
SPEAKER_02No, I said I have a I have a plan, but I might have to buy a man at this rate in my life. Um I have a plan. Um, but I could definitely accrue 156 million. No, I um pay off the bills, you know, get back to square one. Um I would purchase a few low-risk, moderate reward stocks, easy breezy. Um I would do my best to kind of live off of that, and the rest I put into a trust. And then I'm going off the grid. Not off the grid, off the grid, but I am no social media. My home, my cars, whatever I purchase would be purchased under an LLC. Under a bit, like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01You might want to stop talking before you say too much.
SPEAKER_02No, but it's okay because they'll never like you still won't find me. Trust and believe you will not find me.
SPEAKER_01I would buy acres and acres of land somewhere where it doesn't really snow anymore, and build myself a nice big fence around the property, and it'd be like my own little mini city. I might even have like a Starbucks on.
SPEAKER_02We talked about we saw we've seen little property here you can purchase ton of land.
SPEAKER_01I know, I know. Uh the last time we were there, remember we were looking. But and I'm gonna have like little mini like she sheds, you know. So like when you come visit, oh, I know you don't just get a room, you get your own little like guest house, yeah.
SPEAKER_02A little villa on Lisa's property, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and Alex is gonna have he's not gonna have a man cave, he's just gonna have his own separate house.
SPEAKER_02That's for your purpose.
SPEAKER_01I already told him.
SPEAKER_02You're like, oh like here, I'm buying your own house out of state.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna be in the other end of the property, even all your gadgets. Oh god. Yeah, you you can't bring them in the main house. Alex is with the crazy old man with like with the 18 cars in the garage.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, Alex. No love. I know I'm gonna get a text as soon as he listens. I'm waiting, buddy. I'm waiting.
SPEAKER_02He'll come out with like, like, what happened here? He'll come out like with a shotgun.
SPEAKER_01Get off my lawn. We're gonna know when he gets to this park because we're both gonna get the fuck you text. Yeah. I'm waiting. Bring it.
SPEAKER_02Bring it.
SPEAKER_01Trivia? Trivia. Okay. Oh, here. Hurley is falsely arrested for being a drug dealer, according to his accountant. Jorge Garcia, the actor who plays Hurley, guest starred as a drug dealer on the Kerbier Enthusiasm episode, The Carpool Lane. That's what I just said. But not so precisely.
SPEAKER_02Your version was a lot better personally.
SPEAKER_01This is the first episode to be named after a book in the Bible. It is one of only three episodes, for if Exodus is counted twice, to draw its name from a biblical book. The others being Exodus Part 1, Exodus Part 2, and the 23rd Psalm.
SPEAKER_02Bless you. Yeah, I'm not doing it again.
SPEAKER_01Hurley's necklace, pictured in the scene where he is showing his mother the house he bought her, is the Chinese character for fortune for luck. Hieronic. While Hurley is walking on the beach, and later he is dri and when he is driving in his Hummer, a hip-hop song is heard playing. The artist and title have yet to be identified despite the best efforts of many fans, leading many to believe it was created especially for the show. Carlton Cuse is the news reporter who says, That's right, Mary Joe, because this is the 16th week without a winner. Carlton Cuse is a writer and a director on the show. Cool. Characters. Okay. What do you want to know? Hurley. 18 episodes in, and we finally get some part of Hurley's backstory. So after seeing it, what are your thoughts?
SPEAKER_02Not surprised, but not what I expected. I don't know what I expected, to be quite honest with you. Um yeah, I don't I'm I want to know more about his stay at the psychiatric hospital. Um I think if anyone was going to win the lotto, it really couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I think he's a nice kid. And I I'm glad he won the lotto. Despite the whole curse and everything, you know, that makes me sad. This episode has made me want to drink.
SPEAKER_01Because I was like, dude, damn, that's fucked up. Like it was any thoughts on why he was in the mental.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm I've learned not to have any thoughts about anything with this fucking show. Like, I consider myself a professional TV watcher. Um, I'm an expert TV watcher. You know, I gotta do something 10,000 hours to be an expert. Um, and this show blows all everything I thought I knew out the water. So I'm like, yeah, I absolutely no idea. I take it that we do find out though. She's nodding, people. She's nodding. And then she's kind of she's kind of waving, nodding.
SPEAKER_01I'm a little wishy-washy nodding. We do get a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02So degree update. I'm like what nine? I'm still like a 93. You know what you're gonna do with that finger.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and we got another mention of the black rock. Yes. You think we're ever gonna find out what the hell the black rock is?
SPEAKER_02I I I I I'm assuming so. 20 seasons later, I'm assuming it's gonna come. I just don't see how it cannot be brought up eventually. They're on the island for how many seasons?
SPEAKER_01Next character. Next episode is going back to Locke. Okay. We're gonna get more about Loc.
unknownYay, Locke!
SPEAKER_01So anything that you're hoping to find out? Did you watch the next episode yet? No, I'm gonna good girl. Good, good. Anything you're hoping to find out about him?
SPEAKER_02Um, no, no, no, no, no. I just want to be pleasantly surprised and in awe of my man Locke.
SPEAKER_01Hi, Terry. It's a good episode.
SPEAKER_02Can't wait. Really good episode. I'm gonna say hi to Terry in every one of our episodes. So maybe one day he will just say hey back. Here's hoping. Crossing my fingers and my toes. Of course, if I do that, they may stay that way. But anyway. All right.
SPEAKER_01So in the beginning of the season, when like all hell was breaking loose in like the first couple of episodes, and like the guy got sucked into the engine, and yeah, and then the marshal died, and you're like, Well, there's no way that they can have all these characters, right? So it's been we're we're almost at the end of the season. So, like, if you had to kill off a character, because you still think that there's too many, like, who would you get rid of?
SPEAKER_02Well, I didn't think they're gonna kill off the main characters.
SPEAKER_01I just assume like some of the Oh, and they killed off uh the guy, Scott Steve, whichever one. The what? Remember when they Oh yeah, that no one knew his freaking name.
SPEAKER_02Scott Steve. Right, so I think that yeah, more um I mean then they and then they're Ethan, but like he wasn't a he wasn't one of the survivors, so Ethan doesn't count.
SPEAKER_01So if they had to kill off a main character.
SPEAKER_02Well, I um I think I told you this. I was reading one of those Facebook um articles about you know different stuff, and this one was about like characters on show. I don't remember what the title of the article was. So I'm scrolling through the different characters in the show, and then they had a little thing about one of the characters on Lost, about a character leaving. I'm like, oh, I wasn't supposed to read this. So I don't know, even though I know one character is leaving, I don't know if I can give this I don't know if I can give my opinion. But who would you like to see killed off? Who I want killed off? Oh, who I think oh shit, let's see. Sayed Said Saeed an annoys me. We can kill him off. I'm okay with that. Let's kill him off. Um, who else? I'm going through the whole list of people. Yeah, no, he's the one that really gets on my nerves the most. Bye-bye, Saeed.
SPEAKER_01So it okay, so if you had to kill off a character, you'd kill off Saeed.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If a show had to kill off a character, who do you think the show is gonna kill off?
SPEAKER_02Oh, let's see. Do you think it would still be Saeed? No, because they're gonna do something kind of like out the box and weird and shit. If they kill off John, I swear to god, I'm not doing this podcast anymore. I'm rebo- Oh! The look on your face! This is why you don't play poker. No, 30 plus years of knowing you. What? I said 30 plus years of knowing you, maybe don't.
SPEAKER_01You you like if you keep going back and forth with Locke, you're like, if Locke is a bad guy, I'm never watching it again. And then the next episode, you're like, I don't even care if Locke is a bad guy, he's my man. I'm what this is he's awesome, but now you're like, if they kill Locke, like who make up your mind?
SPEAKER_02Well, if you think about it, I am being consistent because every time you mention Locke, my love for him grows more and more and more. Okay, right? So yeah, no Locke, no Agnes. That's how I roll. All right, I roll tight with my homies. Okay. You have to agree with that. I mean we know it doesn't third brain. Definitely, definitely.
SPEAKER_01So no, I'm not I'm not arguing with that. I'm just I'm just fucking with you right now. I and you get so much immense pleasure from it. What if they kill off Jack?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I'd be indifferent. I'm like, all right, fine.
SPEAKER_01Fucking peace out, just as long as it's not locked.
SPEAKER_02As long as it's not locked. But if they were to have to kill somebody off the show for entertainment purposes and a twist, oh wow. It would probably have to be locked eventually, but not anytime soon. But um, yeah, once that h if that was to ever happen, I'm not I'm done. You have to get a new partner until the next um TV show we talk about.
SPEAKER_01Okay maybe they're never gonna kill a character off. And I'm just like Lisa, just shut up.
SPEAKER_02You know what? We're in this episode right now.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are. All right.
SPEAKER_02Actually, we are, right? We are okay. I was just being a smart ass, but like, wait, I think we are.
SPEAKER_01No, we are. Well, that'll do it for this week. Stay tuned next week for our next episode when we'll be discussing Deus Ex Machina. And Agnes will be happier than a pig in shit again because the episode is all about lock.
SPEAKER_02Simple pleasures for simple people.
