Hi, and welcome to today's special episode of Assassin's Sips. Today we're doing a fan favorite with our good friend of the podcast, Jamar Duran. We're gonna talk about all of Lost, all the seasons, and I think it's gonna be a really good episode. I'm really excited because we have been waiting for this. So I'm one of your hosts and Lisa, and I am drinking red wine. I got apothic Merlot.
SPEAKER_04Ooh, you're fancy.
SPEAKER_01Fancy. I still Alex with wine, very fancy.
SPEAKER_04That is fancy. Very undemure, very unladylike, and I support that. You know me. She's that one O P W.
SPEAKER_01He's like, why did I sign up for this again?
SPEAKER_00No, this is great. I I love acronyms. All right.
SPEAKER_04And I'm Agnes, your other host, and I'm drinking Kahlua with coffee. I'm not that fancy. Sorry, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01That's okay. I'm fancy. I I opened a bottle and poured it. It's really not.
SPEAKER_00It's a fancy glass.
SPEAKER_01It is. It's my golden girls glass.
SPEAKER_00Ah, I see you're on the thing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Picture it. Sicily 1922.
SPEAKER_00Uh, it's a reference.
SPEAKER_01Kind of looks like Elisa too. I'm this is what I'm aiming for. You know, this is my future.
SPEAKER_04That's my now. I'm highly inappropriate, no filter. That's me now.
SPEAKER_01Jamar, welcome back.
SPEAKER_00Hey, thank you for having me back. I I thought I had been booted off the show. It's been so long.
SPEAKER_01You ditched us.
SPEAKER_00No, no. I have been sending just for the audience. I've been sending like pigeons and all kinds of stuff. Please let me come back.
SPEAKER_03We've got the messages.
SPEAKER_00I've been doing stuff on Instagram. I get the clips on YouTube, but it's not me. How do I get on this show? So far. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I think we have the clips to prove the messages to prove otherwise.
SPEAKER_00Nobody takes screenshots. Just listen to my voice.
SPEAKER_01You have been extremely busy.
SPEAKER_00So we're sitting Zills and PayPals, and I'm I'm finally back. I'm back.
SPEAKER_01He knows the way to our heart. He bribed us considerably for this spot.
SPEAKER_04Okay, the truth is we begged and pleaded and cried.
SPEAKER_01Pretty much.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I'm so glad to have you back. You are a pivotal guest on our show. And it's good to have you back for the final season. All things lost. I'm just okay. I need to know to refresh our listeners' memories and mine. How did you become such a pivotal part of our lost seasons?
SPEAKER_00Who had who who hounded who? That's so funny. I have no idea. I thought about this today. So this is all I know. It was uh 2020? It was 2020. I went to Podfest in Orlando. And uh I some kind of way, I don't know if I got your card or what, but one of you is at Pod Fest, right? In 2020. There you go.
SPEAKER_04Lisa.
SPEAKER_00And I don't know how I connected, but I tried because I didn't talk to anybody the entire time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was like, I don't remember meeting you there.
SPEAKER_00No, we never spoke. Uh, but I know there was a table with cards on it. I don't know if you had a card or a something, because I I grabbed everybody's stuff because I tried to whatever. And I like Lost, so I definitely must have like connected with you on social media. Like, hey, I I I do podcasts at Podfest. And Lisa was like, Maybe you were we're much better than you, so I don't know you.
SPEAKER_01And I was like sounds just like me.
SPEAKER_00And I was like, I I really like Lost. And then after again, you know, begging and money and stuff, then I mean, come on. And back then I had my own podcast, so I was very much out there trying to do the podcast thing. I was looking at everybody's podcast, and I was recording all the time, and you know, all that stuff.
SPEAKER_01The podcast that we're not supposed to speak of anymore that never happens apparently.
SPEAKER_00Yep, nope, no, I never had a podcast. Whoops. Yeah, nope. Uh, it is gone.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, because Agnes asked me this question, and I was like, I don't remember. Like, I remember the social media aspect, but I don't remember how we came to find each other.
SPEAKER_00I it had to be PiFS, and I just don't know what made me go like, let me reach out and myself for guests.
SPEAKER_01No, but seriously, like and and I I mean that truly, like person to person. I'm glad that you did because we really do enjoy when we get to talk to you because you have such a unique perspective, and it's candid and it's it's accessible and it's hilarious.
SPEAKER_00So all right. Well, thank you. All right, this is just for everybody listening. Uh everything about this podcast is a bad time for me, kind of. Why? This episode, I should say. Here's why. No, I just watched a lot of season five and season six to prepare for it, like I always do. I am now an older, more mature man, and I am so in my feelings. It is just all I want to do is cry. The last thing I watched was the end of the show, church scene and Jack and all that. And now I gotta be like, hey everybody, I'm on the show. And I oh good.
SPEAKER_05He was a friend, and he was a friend, and they apologized.
SPEAKER_00And I just feel totally different about the show than I did. How it's almost 20 years, it is almost 20 years since the show started. We had 19 years since the first episode, and so like now, you know, I'm like, No, no, no, wait a minute.
SPEAKER_01It started in 20 in 2004.
SPEAKER_00Four? Oh, yeah, you're right. I didn't watch it until 05, so it's been 20 years, it's been funny 19 years for me, but that's right, it's 20 years, so yeah. I'm just thinking, I even think about that. Like, I'm a totally different person, like I'm a grown man now, like it's just different. Like now I care about people, and back then I was like, I just want to know who's gonna get shot this week, you know?
SPEAKER_04And it's funny how you like, I care about people now, and I'm like, I'm old and I don't care about anybody.
SPEAKER_00That's hilarious. I get that though, too.
SPEAKER_01I had and I told you this, right? I had the same feeling, like watching it in real time. I enjoyed the ending, I was fine with it. It was kind of like okay, that's how it ended. Okay, fine.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_01Watching it now, the more I watch it, the more emotional I get.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep.
SPEAKER_01And I'm like, what the hell? I don't want feeling.
SPEAKER_00I don't like feeling that's so funny. Hey, I'm glad I'm always alone. I would I wouldn't like it around a group of people, that's for sure. Oh, we should have watched this on video together. That would have been amazing. There'll be a lot of my screen going black. Oh, I I gotta change clothes again. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01I gotta go wash, I gotta go walk my cat. I even have hot sauce in my eyes. Excuse me, hold on.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I'm cutting onions because I got later.
SPEAKER_04So you've recorded enough episodes with us and you know us pretty well.
SPEAKER_01Are you gonna ask my question?
SPEAKER_04Yes, I think we should ask it. She asked it so well.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Uh my question to you is that after recording with us and hearing Agnes's take on the show and how she My hatred. I was gonna be nicer about it, but yes. How would you I don't know if you listened to our final episode, but if you haven't, it's it's fine. But how would you have guessed her reaction to the finale would be or would have been?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I have not listened to that episode.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So then you can actually answer without.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that is a good question. I actually thought about it while I was watching it because I I get you know, I know what your show is, so I can't not watch it and think like what does Agnes think? I don't know. Um and so it's that's a hard question. I actually did think it as I watched uh the sixth season today. Um so she did hate all the early stuff, which is fine. I I didn't agree, but you know, I didn't like the third season, blah blah blah. I love the fourth season. I think she felt like, yeah, no, now this is better. Whoo boy. To me, the sixth season was all mooy gooey and emotions and stuff. And I have to feel like kind of like everybody that watched it the first time. If you were waiting on some answers and some kind of conclusion, it's gotta be somewhat disappointing. It's gotta be kind of like, hey, we we all listened. I don't wait. What happened to that person? And where did they come from? And what I so I would kind of kind of lean towards maybe she was like, bro, that that was it. I would lean in that direction. I don't I don't know. Especially it's hard because again, I just watched it and now I don't feel like that. Now I'm like, oh, it was such a perfect ending. That whole season was so beautiful, it was like a year long of just making people cry and hard. It was just flashbacks from the the seasons. I kept just short, remember this from season two, remember this from season one, remember this person died, and now 20 years later, I'm like, I do remember that. So I can tell you back in 2000, whatever it was, 12, 13, uh uh 12, 10. 10, it was earlier, 10. Um, yeah, in 2010, I was a little like, I mean, I did like the whole new universe, or I guess we'll talk about it. I didn't know what was going on, but I love seeing them dudes as cops and just this alternate take. I like that a lot. But then when it came to the end and it was just like buoy, gooey BS, I was kind of like, bro, um, so you're not gonna tell us anything about what's going on on this island. We don't know where these dudes came from, how they got there, what's the secret powers? You're not gonna tell us it's heaven or hell, you're not gonna tell us anything. It's just okay, everybody's dead. All right, cool.
unknownCool, cool, cool.
SPEAKER_00Um, so anyway, I was assume she leaned that way with the final episode, but I don't know. I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Do we tell them now or do we tell them at the end of our episode of the recording?
SPEAKER_01Go ahead, go ahead.
SPEAKER_04Well, Jamar. Uh-oh. I gotta tell you.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I'm on a reality show a little bit. You don't get the roast. No, it's dramatic music and commercial break.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm sorry. So season six, I actually liked like toys did like five and six. I was starting to like it. I was just like, I'm into this.
SPEAKER_03Good.
SPEAKER_04I also kind of like 90% guess what was happening for season six. I'm like, okay, this is what's happening. I was 10% off, but 90% like this is it.
SPEAKER_00That's high percent.
SPEAKER_04She did think they were dead the whole time. But I did, but but the sideways, I'm like, okay, this is death. This is purgatory. I don't know what, but this they're dead in the sideways. I got that part right. Um, the final season, I mean the final episode, Agnes cried from beginning to end. That's one. Like, not just like teared up. I was just like I was ugly crying, snack come down my nose. It's amazing.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_04And I was also happy with the ending. I got I got the answers that I wanted. There was a couple there was a couple, I was like, Well, what about the fucking polar bears? But there was closure for me, and there was enough happening that I was like, okay, I'm good. The rest I could just make up in my head. So the ending, I was happy with this. That's how I feel now.
SPEAKER_00That is not how I felt in 2010.
SPEAKER_04I probably would have felt the same way you did in 2010. No, I wouldn't, I would never have watched it. Oh, wait, I did it, Lisa.
SPEAKER_01She told me that she probably never would have watched this show had it not been for the podcast, but she is glad she watched it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's good. That's good. I uh yeah. No, that is good. I I keep going round and round because you know, it is still one of the best shows that you know, people say that highly ranked, a lot of people love it. And I keep going back and forth, like, were we stupid and this show sucks, or were we like it's better than we think. I keep going back and forth. Like, are we idiots or is it really a classic? But I watch a lot of TV. Hey, hey, that's the answer. I watch a lot of TV, and every time I go back to Lost, I'm like, this is better than everything else. It's just like the acting, the cast, they did a better job with production and ensemble and their performances and all those people, and nobody else can seem to do that. Like, I don't know. Maybe it's just because we have so many shows now, so it just the money is split between a thousand shows and a studio can't focus on the one hit show. But I just watch all these other shows and I really like them. Like, I really like From and I really like a lot of shows. And I go back to Lost, and I'm like, they're they're not lost, it's just a different world, it's different. I don't know. So uh yep, I'm glad I watched it. And uh, I don't think I'll rewatch it from beginning to end. The way I usually do that, I probably told you on previous shows, is if I ever have a girlfriend and it's been a million years, we watch Lost together because it'll be some random white chick, she never watched it. She's gonna be 20 years younger than me, so she was four when it came on, or whatever. And I'll be like, You ever heard of Lost? And she'll be like, Oh yeah, my grandmother used to watch that. And I'll be like, Yeah, well, so it's a good show. Um, at some point I'll date somebody and we'll watch Lost and I'll be in it again because it it is good. It is good.
SPEAKER_04Maybe she should be, I don't know, 25, maybe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, what's the age that makes it not weird? I don't know.
SPEAKER_04Well, apparently, okay, apparently it's half your age plus eight.
SPEAKER_00I'm not gonna do that math, but oh, okay, man. I'm uh that's still man, you're making her old. Nah nah, forget that. 18 up. That's way too old.
SPEAKER_01Listen, if she can vote, she's good.
SPEAKER_00You go to war, you can fight for my country.
SPEAKER_01So she can't have a beer, it's fine, she's still legal.
SPEAKER_04And this is my 45. I'm still single.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh I'm doing everybody's math. You carry the one, you plus the eight, okay.
SPEAKER_0122 and a half. So my my by your logic, my boyfriend would be 30 and a half years old.
SPEAKER_00Nice, that's good work there.
SPEAKER_01So 30 and a half. That's not young.
SPEAKER_04No, but okay, so that's man age. There was one person that was just six years younger than I was, and uh it was still like a kind of a mind fuck. I'm like, what do you mean you don't know X, Y, and Z? So me dating someone who's 30, I'm like, oh no, I can't. I notion of my daughter's 25, so it's just it's just too weird.
SPEAKER_00That is where it becomes a thing. That when we have the kids, it becomes a thing.
SPEAKER_04It's a thing. I'm like, you can't be you can't be just five minutes older than my daughter. I can't.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep, I get it. My closest friend who has finally admitted that she's in love with me. Hopefully, she doesn't listen to this. Uh, one of my closest friends, uh, who has finally admitted she's in love with me. One of the things that I can't get through to her is her daughter and son are older than all of my exes and friends. And it's just like, that I can't, I can't. I can't reconcile it. I can't, it doesn't work. Your daughter is seven years older than my best friend. This that I can't do it. Can't do it.
SPEAKER_01That's rough.
SPEAKER_00Okay. But but yeah. I'm just I'm just imagining the I'm like that lady with the math thing in the back of my head, like geogrametry and then yeah, uh my you know, circumference, whatever.
SPEAKER_04But the younger wants to remember that math. So there's something there. There's a plus. If they even learned it.
SPEAKER_01Let's not talk about new math.
SPEAKER_04That's a good point. Okay, that's a whole different show. Let's get off that soapbox, put that under the bed. That soapbox goes away.
SPEAKER_01All right, so let's let's take a step back. Since we were unable to coordinate with you for season five. I want to hear just your quick season five takes, if you can give them to us.
SPEAKER_00Luckily, I just rewatched a good bit of it because I was I'm a prepared person. Um I see I'm season five. So it's one of the things I didn't want to say before, and of course I didn't know Lost was going in this direction. I'm a time travel person. There's only two things I really care about: time travel and parallel alternate universes. That's all I care about. That's all I read, that's all I watch, that's all I listen to. And I didn't want to spoil it because then it wasn't a time travel show. Now you Google it says Lost, a time travel show. And it's like, hold up, bro. It's not that for fun.
SPEAKER_04It was just one season. It was just a couple season.
SPEAKER_00But that's what it says now. It's like a show about time traveling.
SPEAKER_01But when we so when we recorded after season four, you hinted at it, and obviously Agnes couldn't catch it, but I knew I knew where you were going with it.
SPEAKER_00No, I do remember that. I was like, I don't want to spoil it, but yeah.
SPEAKER_01Uh so right, but if if if Agnes, if you go back and you listen, you'll catch his references. I'm gonna go back and listen to that episode, Navas.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna go back and listen. Um I um oh yeah, so once you get to time travel and like alternate takes on things, and did it affect something or how it affected, and who these people and you could see yourself and you're with your mom, that's all I care about. I'm I'm in paradise. So season four got good, and then season five went right to where I want to be. And it's just like, well, they made this show for me, so now I'm in. So I love all that, and I just I forgot how much I loved until I rewatched it. I was like, Oh, wait, they get to go back and they're part of the Dharma initiative, and the others kill the others, and then they're the others, and it's all the others, and then we get to the temple. I forgot about all this stuff. Yeah, I love it. They just keep how big is this island, by the way. Like, I keep thinking, how do they not know the entire island by now? They always this is a new thing, like you saw the pyramid, right? Like, the pyramid. I was like, How did you miss a pyramid? Like, what are you talking about? You saw a giant statue on a beast, giant statue. How'd you miss it? But I love it. They just keep at every season, there's like a whole new part of something that they you know, you know, the river with the light, light, river, what so? But that was fun. I I loved it so much to see them go back and like the good guys are the bad guys are the good guys, and they keep, you know, why do they speak Latin? And oh, that's Whitmore, and oh, that's his mom, and you knew the whole time, you knew the whole time, you know, all that. I love it. That that's that's prime Jamar television. I I could probably watch that season. Anything like that. If you know shows like that, message me because that's my favorite show, whatever it is. I'm watching that. I've probably seen some time trim.
SPEAKER_04I'm trying to think of I know I've seen something, but can't come by the end of this recording.
SPEAKER_00I'll remember something. I've probably seen them all.
SPEAKER_01Did you watch Dark?
SPEAKER_00Which one is Dark?
SPEAKER_01Is that it's on Netflix with the it's a it's it's German. German, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I have not seen it because it's German. I struggle with the non-uh English American stuff, but I keep coming back to it.
SPEAKER_01I've I've watched it more than once. I've watched it with the subtitles, and I've watched it dubbed. Just first of all, it's a show that you could watch multiple times, like Lost and and Sure. It's a good show though.
SPEAKER_00Interesting. So like I can kind of do dub as long as the mouth isn't way off. I'll do dubbed. I don't do subtitles. I'm one of the non-subtitle people.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, there's so much in that show that even if you watch it dubbed, I mean it's you can tell it's off, but there's so much that you're so focused on what they're saying, not the the visual of it.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. Interesting. I might add it to the list. No, I like it.
SPEAKER_01It's only like three seasons.
SPEAKER_00A few months, I like dark. Oh, that's the German one. I gotta pull it back out.
SPEAKER_01And then I have another question for you. And I just lost it. Shit. Oh no, I got it, I got it, got it. Your take on Eloise Hawkins.
SPEAKER_00Just my take?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Like her. I'm not fixated. I just think that in the life and world universe of the show, I feel like she is an underrated character. Not that they didn't that they should have used her more in that sense, but that I feel like people don't acknowledge her enough. And her as a character, like like we all talk about how Desmond has these properties, and but nobody talks about Eloise.
SPEAKER_00That is interesting, because um, I don't know what the conversation is now because I know they're still lost nerds, and I don't, you know, as much as I was online back then in 2009 or whatever it was, I don't remember back what it was then, but I know for me and my partner at the time, I think we both, but for me, I'll just speak for myself. She seemed like one of the gods of the show. Like, as you're trying to figure out what's going on, she seemed like some mystical, powerful witch person that was one of the, you know, because it was like, and you know, before you knew the connections, like her and what's Whitmore, what's Ben's role, who's Richard Alpert? But there's like five or six kind of like gods of the island, and you can she was to me, I thought she was the final big bad, like other than Jacob or whatever. And so so it was always just kind of like when are we gonna get her story? So that's kind of one of the frustrations a little bit, because you kind of see a little bit, like you go back. And you figure out who's what what. But it was always like she was like a temple priestess or something, and but you never really got to hear it, never concluded. So that would have been no. I always thought she was. I don't know that I like the character, but I guess you know, we're coming from the perspective uh we see it from the POV of the the people from the front of the plane or wherever they were on Oceanic. So anybody that's an antagonist to them is like the bad guy. So to me, she was like evil, but also like one of the biggest. She's like one of the final bosses, I thought. Um, so I always thought she was uh that she was again like a god of the show, and then they just kind of like, eh, she won't be, or you know, she's not that important or something. It just I I would have assumed that she would have had some big role in the final season looking at it in previous seasons, like in four and five or whatever it was.
SPEAKER_01I would have loved to have an episode about her.
SPEAKER_00I yeah, I think it was kind of obvious, and you kind of thought it was coming, and they just I don't know if they disagreed or if it's on the cutting room floor because they kind of set her up. Like I thought, literally, I thought she was like number two most powerful after Jacob or something, and then we just never got it, and it kind of fizzled. And I I don't know. She's so confident, seemed to have so much more knowledge than everybody.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because you have those scenes with her and Desmond, and she's kind of breaking that wall. She's blurring the lines between the reality, and then it's like, well, this is not how it's supposed to be, you're not supposed to do this. Not just in the real timeline, in the main timeline, but also in the sideways timeline.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_01And then you see her in the lamppost coordinating the flight window, and she and she knows all of this stuff, so you're like, like she's like an oracle. Who is she? Yeah, right. But then you don't really find out.
SPEAKER_00Like a lot of the shows, kind of which is what I'm okay with, what Agnes said, is like watching it today and yesterday, I'm now okay to make up stuff in my head, to have my head cannon, which I think everybody did with this show. And that's what makes it fun, too, is to talk about it and debate about it, and like what do you think was going on and who's who and what was what. And so now I am okay with that. Back then, I just wanted them to answer it after six years. Just like tell us one thing. The main thing, which this is going away from your question a little bit, but the main thing that I cared the most about that I hoped they would tell us, was just like how it started. Where did the man in black and Jacob come from? Who was their mother? How did they get there? Why was there was a lot of cute little hints and stuff that they do throughout the show that mean absolutely nothing. And I just wanted them so bad to say that. And they were like, no, we will not. Just know it's a thing that's there, and it's gonna continue, and it continued, then you don't get to know what this is at all. And that was the biggest frustration. But you know, it's a long time ago now, and now I'm okay to have whatever thoughts. And I I'm if I had to bet money, I would bet that at some point somebody revisits Lost. It probably won't be the same writers, producers, or whatever. I don't know who's gonna own IP, but it might be another 20 years, five years, 10 years. There's gonna be some Lost prequel or something like that. I I would put money on it.
SPEAKER_04Um, I don't think I would mind that so much. That Lisa I might go back to revisit. If someone did that, I would be totally all over that. But then I'd be mad that it wasn't gonna be as good or the same like writing cadence as this one. It will not be it. Like, I need like you know, because like they would have to get the original writers back, they would have to do the same drugs they would do when they first wrote it.
SPEAKER_00I need yeah, I think they would refuse. I think they would not do it.
SPEAKER_04I know, but for the sense of like, no, it was leave loss the way it is, yeah, leave the mystery, it keeps people talking.
SPEAKER_00Even it'll be like a stupid movie or something. We're all gonna see it and they know I would totally at some point. ABC or somebody's gonna need some cash, and they're gonna be like, All right, you ready for that loss reboot? We we've had it sitting here.
SPEAKER_04Right I wouldn't be surprised if they had it like in the can waiting for the right moment, right? Especially the streaming services.
SPEAKER_00Netflix will do it. Yep, they will definitely do it.
SPEAKER_04Netflix does everything. Netflix like is like the Mikey of TV. Netflix would do it.
SPEAKER_00We uh that's a what a reference.
SPEAKER_04Um did I just age myself?
SPEAKER_00Who the fuck is Mikey? Um, yeah, I was thinking I'll try to see what else to compare to. I mean, everybody does it now, but the best one probably is uh karate kid doing Cobra Kai 34 years later, and then doing what six seasons of Cobra Kai and now a third, wait, four, fourth, fifth, fifth karate and quick kid movie coming on. So if they did it 34 years later, that's just where we are now, I think. With I'm not I would not be surprised to see another 10 years and then lost comes back.
SPEAKER_04It's a whole different audience. So, and there's not like I don't see what the downfall would be. Like if a whole new audience, it's like a brand new show, which it would be, but well, the downfall is us that you have who won't be excited about the writing. Right, who will not enjoy but you have so much more people now, like brand new audience, it's more accessible, they can watch it whenever they want to. That would make I think that in itself would make up for the loss of us a few purists. Because the purists were still gonna watch it, so we can bitch about it.
SPEAKER_01We're still gonna watch it. No, but that's not how it was.
SPEAKER_04But we still watch it though.
SPEAKER_01Of course, but it I'm just saying it's uh it's a delicate balance.
SPEAKER_04And I think um I don't think they particularly care too much of whether we love it or not, as long as they get the the numbers. Because we're still gonna watch it. And then you have all our children that's like, oh, that was great. It's a win-win for the network.
SPEAKER_00Probably it's like Agnes might be producing a show in about five years.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you I mean, I hate it so much, I wanna watch, I want to do it now. But maybe Netflix or somebody ABC will listen to our podcast. I'm like, hey, those girls have their aunt or something. Yeah, sure.
SPEAKER_01I'll I'll sit by my phone.
SPEAKER_04And when that happens, you're like, Jamar, you gotta come back.
SPEAKER_01But as long as we have the budget, we can pay him extra.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll I'll love to come back for the lost reboot or the lost people or the lost side sideways or whatever they're gonna do. That'd be great.
SPEAKER_04Well, apparently I am not just Notre Dameist and I can see into the future. So, you know, when I speak, it happens. So I just can't get that lotto number.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, we talked about that. I don't remember now, but I know on every episode you said something that was would happen or whatever, and it was kind of like hmm, that's interesting. Uh, and I I think the last episode that I was on, you said a lot of I mean, the last couple episodes, you said like very specific things like what if something like this happened? And I'd be like, I don't I don't know why why would that happen? That's that's a terrible idea, Agnes.
SPEAKER_04I used to wait six seasons of Lisa gaslighting me and making me feel like I was insane. And I'm like, Check notes. I said that, Lisa. Check notes, she was right.
SPEAKER_00What if they're like in purgatory and Hurley ends up running the island? What do you think? I think it's the dumbest thing I ever heard.
SPEAKER_01That will never happen. That's not how this works. I mean, she also said they were dead the whole time, so yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's the 10% that I was wrong, okay?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's it.
SPEAKER_04But I was very, I was very specific saying that the sideways was definitely purgatory-ish, something happening there.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that was good. You would have had a lot of fun with this if you were like the same personality back in the day, because that's all it was was us online and talking to your friends and saying all this stuff. All the crazy all it was was this all the time.
SPEAKER_04I still, while I'm glad I watched it now, I'm still I can't say, oh, well, maybe I should maybe I would have watched it. I know for a fact, never would have watched it. There was no, there's no, like, damn. Well, maybe I could have, or maybe I should have. Nope. Still hold true to that. No. See episode one, season one would have had me so turned off. I would have like, all right, bye. I'm done.
SPEAKER_00I believe it. I know I know I mentioned this in all the previous shows that I didn't watch the first season. And I think if I had started with this first season, I would not have gotten into it. I started with the last episode of the first season, and so you know, the boy and the boat, and I was just like, What the hell is going on when they do with these kids? And I came back for season two, and it was years before I saw season one. And honestly, that smoke monster would have had me out. I'd have been like, This is dumb. I'm not watching this.
SPEAKER_04We, I think, say like every other episode, we're still we still reference your your version of give me the boy. Like that's that's become Assassin's Sips, like catchphrase, the Jamar version.
SPEAKER_00Good, good. Which is pretty spot on, if I have to say that. It's just like I can't tell a difference when I listen to the show, when I watch the laws. Yeah, no, absolutely. I think yours is much more.
SPEAKER_01You should remind everyone.
SPEAKER_00I think yours is better. Maybe they'll cast me in the pre-pool, put a beard on me.
SPEAKER_04You look just like him. Can you tell our list? Sh give our listeners a take. Like, I don't think in that case, a few people didn't listen to our episodes.
SPEAKER_00That's hilarious. I don't remember it. Now I wish I still remember it because he's like, uh, oh, oh man, I think I got a lot of something like um the boy when I have to take the boy.
SPEAKER_04I want me to try to find the script of my clothes.
SPEAKER_01So side note, I was watching a movie not that long ago. Um what's what's the one where they they go to the wine country and it's like a bachelor party? Sideways?
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, maybe sideways okay. Yeah, sideways.
SPEAKER_01And and so like he goes and he hooks up with this chick. It's like a one-night stand, but he leaves his wallace and then they have to go back and pick it up, except the husband came home and the husband comes running out of the house and he's like naked running down the street. It's Tom friendly. I was like, Oh really? Oh my god, he's naked. Winging in the wind.
SPEAKER_00And I'm like I did watch that movie. I have not watched it since it came out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I watched it a few weeks ago, and I was like, oh shit, it's him. You're like, wait, wait, this is I just wing it in all its glory down the road.
SPEAKER_03Oh, high-o.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I guess he filmed that scene because he wasn't embarrassed.
SPEAKER_03Hey.
SPEAKER_04Hey. I have so many questions, but I don't remember. Like, I have so many, but none. Which is on par for Agnes.
SPEAKER_01In terms of season six, where would you rank it?
SPEAKER_00Ooh, I don't know if I've ever done a ranking or if I have, it's been a long time.
SPEAKER_01You said I think you said season four was your favorite, right?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's the easy one. Three is last, four is is top. Um, I think it's something like uh like four, five, six is my one, two, three. And then it would be like after that, maybe two, one, three. So four, five, six, two, one, three.
SPEAKER_04But someone who couldn't rank it, you did a pretty damn good job.
SPEAKER_01But that's a that's a pretty fair ranking.
SPEAKER_00Uh, once I thought about it, it was like, oh yeah, yeah, because I liked the last half and I hated the first, I shouldn't say hate it, but you know, the first season is all set up. You know, you don't really get the lost stuff yet. It's a and I just hated them in the cages and just kind of being with the others and not really nothing happened. That was a very confined season. You know, the first season they spent like I can't remember, it was a million or five million on the first episode, which was like a record at the time, and they made like a movie. And the first season was big, like that. Like they really wanted you like this is a huge island, this is not Gilligan's Island, this is like a this is different. Um, and then the second season and third season, they backed off that a little bit. But the third season is like, okay, what if we save money by putting them in a cage for six episodes? We did that, they'll talk a lot, they'll eat some fish biscuits, that'll be an ongoing joke, you know. So I was like, I'm I'm I'm good on that season. All right, that was not for me too much. I was that was kind of grueling to get through, and then it paid off at the end of that season in season four.
SPEAKER_04On the bright side, oh, okay. I still think the first half, the first two seasons, I'm convinced they really had no idea what they wanted to do with the show. Oh no, that's true. The writer said that. And they just took a whole bunch of they took a pot of spaghetti and threw it in the wall, and like, okay, boom. If it sticks, it sticks, it's just we're gonna write, and then maybe we'll pull some later on as we go. So you still have a lot of okay, that like half of this season and three quarters of this season could have been an email. Like, you've really just wasted my time.
SPEAKER_00Sure, sure. I I don't remember now because it's been 20 years, but the writers talked about this after the first first of all, and it's always this way, they don't know that it's gonna be a good show or a hit show, how long it's gonna go. So the first thing you just write a pilot, it is just a pilot, and then once everybody knows the pilot is good, you do a season. Then they have no idea how long it's gonna go or what the story. So then once they realized it was a smash hit, they were like, This they were the first show that I know that did this. They said, We're gonna choose a certain amount of seasons and we're gonna create a story around that. So after they got this smash hit season, they were like, Yeah, we can do this forever. They're like, We will not be doing this forever. We're gonna do, I think first they thought five seasons, and then they said six, and they were like, So we got six seasons now. Let's tell the story. Where does it end? Which is this BS ending they probably had from the beginning, and then they told they wrapped the story in there. But no, after the first like episode and the first season, they had no idea what this show was, and then when it was a smash hit, they were kind of like, Fuck, so we gotta keep doing this, kind of like like that.
SPEAKER_04You know, you have we're gonna have to streamline this somehow.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like we got to figure this out. So, um, but I think they were the first people to kind of figure it out because that's what TV usually is, just that it's like it gets weirder and weirder because you know, they say jump in the shark, like next thing you know, now they're all aliens, now they have superpowers, they just keep growing and growing. Like TV shows do that a lot. It's like, okay, now the main character goes back in time, they can you know, just kind of mix stuff up, you're like, This doesn't make sense. This was happy days, like what's happening? So they didn't want to do that, so they that was smart. I think every show does that now. Like, this is five seasons, and what's the story we're telling? What's the ending?
SPEAKER_04Where starts, and then we'll work out the in-between. I like Fast and Furious, Fast and Furious Nine when they were like in space. I'm like, what yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00That's a great movie.
SPEAKER_04Is this shit?
SPEAKER_00People forget that that was a a movie about racing cars and doing like small heists because now they are military, they are professional criminals. They're in space. That was the biggest one was going to space.
SPEAKER_04I was so disappointed in them. I'm like, wow, this is Freddie. This is what Freddie goes to Jason, Jason and Freddie.
SPEAKER_00Like, this is a mix this is horrible. Jason in space, Jason X, whatever. But yeah, one of the shit.
SPEAKER_04It's still insane and horrible. And of course, I'm gonna watch it. I watch 10 and I'm gonna watch 10.5 or whatever it they're doing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm gonna watch them all, but it's the same thing. That's a great example. Their next step has to be time travel, it has to be some kind of way to figure out how to go so fast in the car that they can go back in time in the same future, yeah, last inferior style. That'd be like five years from now, they're gonna be like, I think we gotta time travel down.
SPEAKER_04But I think this is the last one, I think, right? Yeah, they did say that was the second half of 10.
SPEAKER_00Second half of this, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I will say this going, I mean, get him back to Lost Please. No, no, no, no. But just as m as much shit and filler that there was in the earlier seasons, I did appreciate that even if they didn't necessarily answer questions in season six, season six was filled with callbacks. So even if it didn't answer questions, it was still like, oh, remember the caves, remember the you know, and and right.
SPEAKER_04We got our own it was kind of like the watcher viewers had their own funeral. It was like a short show.
SPEAKER_01A lot of reminiscence, a lot of fuzzy moments, so yeah, it definitely felt as a finale, even as a whole.
SPEAKER_00Sure. No, I agree. That's how I felt in watching it like right now. Uh-huh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04I wonder I did think about if how what your take was on this. And I thought about with this season being very religious for a TV show. For a non-religious TV show, it has a lot of the show, not just the season. Well, especially this season, because you know, how do you feel about Echo not coming back?
SPEAKER_00Um, I remember at the time, or I vaguely remember at the time we talked about it, and I think him not coming back was real world stuff, right? I can't remember, did he have the alcohol problems and something? I can't remember who had what issues now, but I think him not coming back was a real world thing and it wasn't like a writing thing. Like he like couldn't come back.
SPEAKER_01From what I read, it was financially motivated. He he wasn't offered what he wanted.
SPEAKER_04There you go. Yeah, so I thought I would have paid him. I just think it was just did that hurt you? Did you feel like it was missing? Did you have been there?
SPEAKER_00Well, so and uh yes, yeah, no, he should have been there for so many reasons. He was like such a big part of this show for like two seasons or whatever. He was like a huge part of the show. Um, but and then we keep going back to the heroin, um, the the you know, whatever the little Catholic statue things or whatever. But I because I vaguely remember this stuff now, it was him that wanted to build the church, right? Which meant so much, right? And I think there is some allusion to that that they meet in this church and they talk about you all built this church. So to me, it was always the completion of the church that he was building. So even though they don't talk about it, it's like this is Echo's house. Um, and it's for all of you. And so from the very beginning, he doesn't know he's building this house for them to meet in or whatever. And yeah, yeah, that's I couldn't barely get through it.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, I never thought about it. Oh my god, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I knew there was a way to do it. I love like I couldn't place him. I'm like, he should have been like, never mind real world stuff. Like it's it was missing him, and like I don't know why, but he should like they should have had an echo, they should have, I don't know, clipped him in somehow, like he should have been somehow present in it. And your take on that makes it so much more painful that he wasn't, but maybe more beautiful because he was there, which I agree.
SPEAKER_00I I feel both like it would have been nice had he been there, like had he been standing up with his collar on or something, like kind of leading them.
SPEAKER_01That yeah, that would have been perfect.
SPEAKER_00But I think there was the echo of him because like they every time they show the little statue thing, that's what I think. Every time, every time they talk about the plane and they show it, they show it, and then they got the house, and then in that episode, they go, We built you all agreed to build this, and it's just like who was building a church, you know, and who and it was a big deal too. So, anyway, and then that just echo of echo.
SPEAKER_04Oh my god, I can't stand it. Oh my god, complete mind. I'm loving it.
SPEAKER_00I agree like that, but I I I feel like they knew that because some things, you know, we just make up and they're like, Oh, we never thought of that. But I'm I'm pretty certain they they knew that.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I mean my feelings now. I'm even more like that. Tech I mean now I've reached my closure. I feel good about the whole show, and I hate when I talk to Lisa about like if I when I finished the episode that night, we didn't we couldn't record, but that night I kept thinking about like what we're gonna talk about. I didn't sleep at all. I dreamt about fucking lost. It was amazing, it was horrible. I was like, I don't ever dream about fucking lost now. And after we record episode, I'm thinking, well, I could what about this? Oh my god, I didn't think about this. I'm on the phone with Lisa. You know, I there's something I didn't mention. I I didn't think about this, and then up all night thinking and dreaming about fucking lost. I am now complete and I think my lost dreams are now finished.
SPEAKER_03Thank you.
SPEAKER_01To remember and to let go, Agnes. To remember and to let go.
SPEAKER_04Christian's the shepherd of least the shepherd.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think that even even though Echo wasn't there, if you put it in context of your theory, Jamar, I feel like it it does include him. It was a way of including him, even though he was I mean, seeing him if you saw him there and he and he was the one who was like presiding over that would have been another level, it would have elevated the scene.
SPEAKER_04It would have been like a ha moment for the slow people.
SPEAKER_01Well, I didn't I never thought about the church theory either, but but having it and and and saying it in those terms really does become inclusive with him. Yeah, I like that. I really like it. You are amazing.
SPEAKER_04I never saw that. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00That's so funny. I just happened to watch it again. I mean, I've no thought that for years, but to just I just came off watching that and and trying not to cry when when Christian's like, yeah, you all chose to build this together or whatever, so you can meet here. It's like, oh, oh, Mr. Echo, oh they do so much. I mean, I mean, I know you know because a lot of it's obvious, but that thing where uh they're on the plane, and uh what's the pretty boy's name? Uh Boone Boone is uh talking to John, and he's just like, Yeah, man, wherever we go, if we get in some trouble, I want to stick with you, and you know. Oh, it was just like, oh, come on, guys, why would you do this to us?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I know. It is memories, how they were close, and but then you know, kind of, you know. Yeah. He kind of like took Boone under his wing, and it was just, and then you know, kind of just kind of killed him. But with love comes pain. What was okay? People remember like everyone, once they remembered and had their moment. Right, right, right. It's pretty sweet.
SPEAKER_00Which one hit the hardest for you? Ooh. Um, I don't know, because I ooh boy. So I just what is right now, it's gonna be based on what I just saw. Because I don't remember back then. And I just saw a good bit of five and a good bit of six. And I think um, I don't even know if well, I think right now, because what I just saw a lot of was uh Jen and Son. And so that is what probably hit me in terms of kind of remembering and you know, and just their whole thing. I mean, that was a huge story. All of them have such huge stories, but you know, like son is cheating and she's speaking English, and Jen's a gangster, and her father's this it was a lot, it was a lot, it was a lot. Um, and so for that to come back, and and you know, you the way it came back to Sun is uh Juliet's doing the what is that a sonogram? That what is that? That yeah, and and then she remembers, and so and I had just been in their world a lot, so that that is probably what's hitting me the most right now. But then what one of the things that hit me the most from the entire series, which isn't really related, but it's in these same episodes, uh, or or in this season or whatever, kind of um, so is um just having Sawyer's voice in my head going, Juliet, that just plays over and lives rent-free. And that is just like the echoing tone of this season. Because like to see them get together and have this good relationship, and Sawyer was the bad guy, and he was with Kate, and then like Jack's with Kate, and Jack's with Juliet, but then all of a sudden they have this like amazing, you know, like ship that we all want, and this new life, and everything's perfect, and just to see all these people kind of figured out in this world, and here comes Jack to fuck everything up, and just like person after person going, Oh, they found us, Jesus, everything was so good. Just to have that ringing in my head, I've forgotten about that. That and the not pennies boat between those two things.
SPEAKER_04I just that show, ooh, they they can pull the strings, and uh I'm actually Lisa was quite surprised because every so often she'll give me the heads up. She's like, Okay, this episode's a tear joker, this one's gonna have you in your fields, and then we're going to record. I'm like, Yeah, no, yeah, no, and then this episode, the the final episode, she's like, Okay, how was it? I'm like, I cried the whole time. She was like, What? Wait, what?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that whole thing, because I just was watching it, it's just all slow motion montages of this beautiful six-year journey. I was like, damn, I don't remember it being like this. Like, god dog.
SPEAKER_04And then with the clips in the back, you're like, Oh, that's right. I see with Son and Jen, and then Sawyer and Juliet, their moments had me, those those hit the hardest and the most beautiful way of it.
SPEAKER_00It was just really good, and you really felt it. You really felt it for me.
SPEAKER_01It was Sawyer and Juliet, and when Kate says thank you to Charlie, when he brings the blankets and she says thank you, and he's just like, But they're just blankets, but we know, and so then it brings back all of those feelings. And I think that that is one of the things that this show does so well and so much better than other shows, is that even though you have this huge cast and the show goes all over the place, that for the most part the character development, even for the characters that fall flat, like you know, we talk about sometimes like some of the characters kind of have the same um storylines over and over again. When you take the characters, they're very, very well thought out. So even a character like when like the last time we were making fun of Kate and we're like, oh yeah, she she just you know treks through the jungle following people and causes love triangles, but you still you still have such a complete picture of who she is.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_01And so then as you're watching it, it's so hard not to empathize and not to feel that the the emotions that they're feeling because they're so thoroughly thought out and fleshed out.
SPEAKER_04You they're actually they go from pen to paper, well, whatever, and they actually develop a flesh. They develop you can see like it's like the Grey's Anatomy guy, um, skeleton just fleshing out from it's it's a beautiful thing. Can we talk about Benjamin for a second? Okay, because even when Benjamin was being a complete ass, he's one of my favorite characters because of he was so I mean multifaceted, complex, and just realistic because everyone has 600 different versions of themselves, and at the end, he was so perceptive of who he was, even as a as a soul, he was like, No, I have more work to do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I just watched that, and now I was just like, that's another one that had me.
SPEAKER_04I'm like, oh my god. And at this point, he already had done so much in that waiting room of time. He said, No, I have more work to do. I have, and he actually became like while he was alive and being Hurley's second in command, yeah. He obviously made plan, like he made steps to be better. And then this time of reflection, he did do better, but he's still like, no, I'm not there yet. And I'm just like, how many people that we know can still say about themselves, yeah, no, I still have more work to do on me. And I think that's a a reminder that no matter how far we come, we still have more to do for ourselves, not for anyone else, but for ourselves. And I think having Benjamin being that voice, I think it just hits it. It resonates with, I think, with a lot of different people. Because everyone can see themselves as if you're honest with yourself, you can see yourself being the bad guy sometimes.
SPEAKER_01Well, but and that and that's the point of the sideways is to have the awakening, is to have that remembrance, is to be honest with yourself, let go of the bad and and in with the good and you know and the fact that everyone else moved on, he's like, Yeah, not ready yet.
SPEAKER_04It's just like, oh, that's that's the that's just honesty, just like beautiful.
SPEAKER_01Did you watch the new man in charge? Or have you ever seen it?
SPEAKER_00I don't even know what that is.
SPEAKER_01Did I send you the link? Am I a horrible, horrible um it's no no no, but um so it was on the DVD and it's like um an epilogue kind of thing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I don't think I saw it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's on YouTube. You can find it's it's like 11 or 12 minutes long, and I had never seen it either. So watching it for the show is the first time that I watched it, and it focuses on Ben, and you see him arrive at a Dharma warehouse, and the guys are preparing the pallets for the deliveries, and Ben says, Hey, you guys don't you don't have to do that anymore. And they're like, Yeah, but we've been here for 20 years. Like the printer is printing the location, and they're like, But the coordinates, and they they tell you that the coordinates move, and he's like, But it's just gone to an island, and they're like, But the same one, like they're always different, and they're like, you know. And the workers have questions, so Ben pops out a CD, um not a C D sorry, uh video, and it's another Hydra, it's a Hydra orientation film that he shows, and it's Dr. Chang, and he's like, But please be discreet with my with my identity. I wouldn't have to want to change it. So you kind of get a little answer, like in the future videos, how he always has a different name.
SPEAKER_04A different name.
SPEAKER_01And it talks about the experiments, room 23, the polar bears. And so you get a little bit more okay. It's you know, which we figure is probably just the writers, like, okay, people are still asking, but what about this and what about this? So it's a little way to acknowledge and then he goes to visit Santa Rosa and Walt is there using the name Keith Johnson. Walt is like, are you here to kidnap me again?
SPEAKER_00Feels like I did see this, but keep going.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And after he talks with Walt and says, No, I'm not here to kidnap you, but you know, we're gonna go back to the island, you have work to do, you're gonna help your dad. And he gets into the van and Hurley is waiting in the van saying that they're gonna head back to the island, that Walt is special and all he needs is to be on the island. And like, we're I'm gonna talk to you about a job. So you get the impression that Walt is soon gonna be the new protector.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's dope.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so it's a nice way because I feel like you leave the show saying, Okay, but how did the food get dropped? And but what about the polar bears? That was my question. That was my only question at the end of the season. And it was all this, but Walt is special, and then you kind of never hear from Walt again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Yeah, no, those those were the questions. So I guess that yeah.
SPEAKER_01But with that, we learned that the palates are coming or what was it? Um it's just an unarmed Dharma station, and we learned that it's the Hydra. That that's kind of the coordination point. But then you're like But Eloise knew about the lamppost, and obviously Ben knew about the lamppost because he he brought the the Oceanic Six there. So then I was like, but if Eloise knew about the lamppost, why didn't she ever cancel the provisions?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think with Lost, you can like do that to yourself to death. I was thinking of watching it today, and I'm sure everybody kind of gets it at some point. Like, if you start to pick it apart with that's you know, whatever, people are people, but uh because there's just so much in the show, it's so rich and so deep, and none of it kind of makes sense or has to happen. And and they just and like with the little joke videos that Agnes sent me, and there's just gotta be a million videos like that about loss. We're like, wait, this whole thing that was supposed to be a big deal, we just never talked about it again, and it didn't seem to be a big deal at all. And you know, I don't I don't know. So I don't know, and even some of the things that you kind of figure out, and it does make sense, it's still kind of like, but this isn't nearly as big of a deal as they made it out to be. Like, yeah, we kind of know, but like that doesn't really matter that much.
SPEAKER_04Like, this can't be it. There's so with lost, it's always but is it? And then so when they give you the answer, you're like, no, that can't be the answer, right? Like, no, we literally just gave the answer. No, that can't be the answer. There has to be more, but like, no, but this is it. We swear, his name is Barry.
SPEAKER_01No, um well, especially when there's a lot of hype, and then the answer is like, but that was that's it? That that's it. Like, I was expecting so much more.
SPEAKER_00One thing I did really appreciate though, uh, this must have been season five, I don't know. Probably season five because they were time traveling. When they they do occasionally, and if I ever watch more of it, you'll you'll know now. On your second watch, they address a lot of those things in the same way we're addressing it. So they were talking about the hatch, and they were like, Desmond was in there pressing the button and they explained it to whatever in the future or in the past, whatever. And they're like, where you know he was pressing the you had to put the codes in the computer to press the button to end stop the end of the world. But I don't I don't really know what we were doing. He's like, I don't, I don't really know what the point was. So you're just like, I'm just doing it because that's what I was told to do. But yeah, now I don't know, we don't do it. I don't know what we're all doing then, I don't know.
SPEAKER_04So wait, so okay. Um, so by them in the past future, I said the past future, with them like destroying that station that cancelled out the yeah, you remember the fucking name of the station that canceled out the need to press the button, right?
SPEAKER_00I guess because that's the energy and they they control or or release and thought, like in theory, right? Right, right.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I don't know. That's the part that's like, okay, I'm gonna leave that the way it is, it's fine. I leave it, it's great, it's fabulous. It's fine, I'm fine, everything's fine.
SPEAKER_00You know, they had an atom bomb, they didn't atomize the island. So what happened to all that energy? And I guess it it it balanced the energy from the special plus one negative one bounces out.
SPEAKER_04Okay, that sounds that sounds that sounds legit.
SPEAKER_01Okay, but what if them doing that is what is then they built the swan anyway, but that explosion is what caused them to have to push the button to keep it at bay.
SPEAKER_03I don't know.
SPEAKER_04I thought building the swan because they I think, but didn't they like it hit something when they was building the swan and that caused the drama? So them like blowing shit up, kind of tailed it back a pocket underneath it and it was making the drill melt.
SPEAKER_01So that's what they were worried about exposing that. But then when they dropped the bomb, maybe that was what caused it to be exposed. And that's what uh like uh you never know.
SPEAKER_00It's like either, you know, and who's oh, it was um, you know, weird nerd dude, physicist.
SPEAKER_01There you go.
SPEAKER_00That's what he kept saying. That's why I like time time. I was like, it already happened. There's nothing you're gonna do, it's gonna be nothing to do about it because it is done, it there is no changing things.
SPEAKER_04It's kind of I think I record that episode, I think, as like maybe Oedipus Rex.
SPEAKER_00Like, oh right, you got it.
SPEAKER_04When you know your future, you're trying to avoid it, you actually make steps to you cause it.
SPEAKER_00Nothing you can do, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Nothing you can do. It is what it is. Okay, we'll we will be pushing buttons for the rest of our lives. I copy that. Okay, they did say that a lot.
SPEAKER_00They were like, wait, no, the the station's still here. This is still blown up, it was still built. We did nothing.
SPEAKER_01We did nothing, right? That's right, that's right. Right. So, especially Faraday running around saying, We can't change it, we can't change it. I have an idea. Let's change something. Let's change it.
SPEAKER_00I know that I wasn't saying, I know. He kept saying that, and then he was like, wait a minute, Desmond, you'll change it all.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I I'm glad that she liked it in the end, and she wasn't completely like, this was such a waste of time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I agree. I thought about it a lot as I was preparing for the show. And so she said she did like season four. I think you know that it just continues in that direction. It becomes this different, better show. And so I didn't think she would not like it, but I am a little surprised that she really had those feelings for the last episode because I thought it would be a big letdown, maybe. Um, but I'm glad she found that closure because that was I know that's what they were going for. And at the time I just wanted all those answers. And I was like, I don't care about your emotional closure, I want to know where the polar bears are.
SPEAKER_04And that was my question. I'm like, okay, I feel good, but what about the polar bears? Like, I don't understand how the polar bear is on this island, but then it was in the the the bones within the desert. I still don't understand that. How that happened, still a little wonky on that one, but yeah, I'm gonna let it go. I'm gonna tell I am more I'm a more mature TV watcher now.
SPEAKER_01Um if you could have an episode dedicated to like one more episode, and it's dedicated either to one person's backstory or answering one answer question. What what do you think that you would have wanted to see or learn more about? That's for you, Jamar. Yeah, for Jamar.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I already said it. Uh it's what I was back then, what I was most fascinated.
SPEAKER_01Right now, right now.
SPEAKER_00Well, even right now, still, I guess I'm still the most fascinated by, although it's just different because I'm not watching it now, is the man in black and Jacob. And that that that is that was for me, was what I just was like couldn't get enough of. Because throughout the season, you hear these references of Jacob and the Smoke Monster. You get the Smoke Monster and Jacob, and you know, they just come here and there. You might have 20 episodes of whatever you have in a season, and you might get one reference of like, well, Jacob tell using who the fuck is Jacob? So uh that's what I was really hoping. Like by the end, we're gonna know everything about and they you know they do a little bit and they do a good little bit, and that felt good. Watching that in the final season was just like I mean, that was the best feeling. But I still, if they had one episode, it would like go back to whatever piece we're missing, either from their childhood or their teens or their 20s or whatever, where you get to see whatever conflict splits them, like they were buddies, best friends, brothers, and one goes one way, one goes the other, one has one idea, one has the other, and you get some of that, but there's definitely could be an episode dedicated to exactly what the conflict is and why one becomes the and and really what's kind of interesting. I think we're all team Jacob because team because Jacob is called calling everybody to the island, and these are the people that you know they're our perspective people, so you know, we Jack, Kate, Sawyer, John, whatever. So we're kind of teen Jacob, but actually Jacob could be an evil asshole, right? Like, and we don't really know like what Jacob's deal is and why he, you know, so I would just love to see that whole situation play out. Um, it's very much protagonist, antagonist, this kind of dichotomy, whatever. And I I would love to have an episode of just their battle, um, or whatever, where the island came from, who who created it, is it a part of the universe, the world?
SPEAKER_01More about mother.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04CJ Craig. I still call it CJ Craig. She's still she's still the West Wing. I have to agree with Jamar. I think if I I wouldn't mind like a little like a two-hour movie about what happened with Jacob, like Jacob and I'm gonna call him Barry for the purpose of this episode. Um, after he threw him, like after he pretty much threw him into the light. Like, okay, threw him into the light. He was now while his body is dead, he's still like his spirit is still his now a spirit, and he's a smoke monster. And what happened to like I want to see the steps, like how did Jacob continue to protect the island?
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah, there's like a lot of rules, but we were never actually told the rules. You just kind of see them here and there.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I wouldn't mind a two-hour movie about that. That would be an interesting little movie. All right, get it together, ABC. Make it happen.
SPEAKER_00You can't leave the island, but you can't cross this line, but you can't go through here, but this will bother you, but this won't, but this kind of hurts, but this doesn't. And Jacob seems to be just a man, but he's kind of a magical man. But does he actually have power? But you can't kill him. It's just a lot of like rules that we don't really have. We don't really want to. I want to know what the rules came from. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and it doesn't, and then once again, the movie doesn't have to have like tie it all in the ball, but it's it'll just be interesting to watch. Like, oh, that's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00I agree. Like, I don't even need a real answer. I just kind of want to see them doing their thing.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I concur. Lisa, I mean guess Eloise.
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah. I I would love an episode about her or further back on the island, like going back to mother and that whole island and everything before the Black Rock came. Because that I mean Well when the b it's a little it's a little muddled because by the time Black Rock came, Jacob was already an adult.
SPEAKER_04But even before that, like before the Black Rock came, before I the mother's backstory, maybe her origin story. Sure, yeah, that's right. Okay. So two movies. Okay, bad. Okay. All right, we're gonna make that happen, ABC. I don't I don't think we're asking for a lot.
SPEAKER_00Not a lot, no. We're giving you money. That's what we're doing, we're giving you free money.
SPEAKER_04That's seriously, people get paid for our ideas, and we're just giving it to them. So take it and run with it, give me what I want, and we call it even.
SPEAKER_01Scale of one to ten. Where does this show rank for you as a whole?
SPEAKER_00Don't ask me.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, not you, Jamal.
SPEAKER_04She's like, I already know.
SPEAKER_00That is um that's hard. Cause I love ranking things. It's like my favorite thing to do. But uh I when I do it, like I want to have context, not from you, but I'm thinking like I have to think of in the context of other shows. So, like, you know, I do not know. I was thinking this morning again, like. Is this actually my favorite show of all time? Because I never really thought I put it in the top three, five, ten. But like, is this my number one? Man, watching it the last couple days makes me feel like it. Because I tried rewatching Sopranos again lately, and I just it didn't pull me in. Uh I rewatched Breaking Bad a while ago, and I was like, man, this is better than I thought. But I just don't even know if there's any other show I revisit like this. I watch a lot of cartoons and I like them. But I can't think of any live-action show that like I sit down and start watching, and I'm just like, wow. Kind of the more recent stuff, the boys, but like I that's not, it's just a different sort of thing. It is really good, but it's just it's not gonna pull your heart like this. It's just well written, well performed, but you're not like crying, you know, it's just a different thing. But I can't give it like a perfect score. So you're saying out of 10, if I think of it like a grades, like a 10 is a hundred percent, this has got to be nine out of ten or ninety percent.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's fair. That is fair. I mean, it wasn't my favorite show, but I can I can appreciate where the nine came from. I can see how it's a nine.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's still like a think of uh other shows that I would put over it. Like, what's a 10 out of 10 for me? I don't know. The wire, I would not say a 10 out of 10, but I really, really love that. So I don't know. It's this tough stuff. Um, that's really interesting though to think about it.
SPEAKER_04It would be a 10 out of 10. I need to know what you're when you think about it, send us a message. Like, what would be your 10 out of 10? Because maybe we're maybe we will um put it on our season for you.
SPEAKER_03Well, I will think about it.
SPEAKER_01I have one last question. When you think about the show as a whole, what is like the number one flaw that the show has that maybe used to rub you the wrong way, always rubs you the wrong way, or just now rubs you the wrong way. Yeah. Like what's the one thing that you would change if you can only change one thing?
SPEAKER_00And I mentioned this on like an earlier episode with us, but um as much as I love the characters, I am I've probably never been in love with flashbacks in any media at all.
SPEAKER_04Okay. Oh, but you did see I said you have mentioned that.
SPEAKER_00And I do like background and stuff like that, but you know, it's it's basically like a soap opera. Like when I was a kid, I had to watch the soaps with my grandmother or whatever. You you sit, you stay at home, you watch Young and Restless. So I like those, but I hated how you only got like five minutes of a story every episode because they cut to the to the next scene, the next drama or whatever. And that's what Lost Felt. Like, I always wanted to stay on the island. All I cared about was what's happening on this island, and it'd be like and now we're in Korea. And I'm like, what no? What's happening on the island right now? I want to know. Okay, I get okay. They were in love. Okay, he's got this weird thing, so it was they did some one-off episodes, and even though some of them were beautiful, it's like, but this ain't on the island. I just want to know. So I want to stay on the island. I want to say the island, as I said earlier, is big as hell. You got plenty of stories you can do right there on the island, they can tell the story, like you know, maybe it was a quick, like a um I hate him, Seth McFarlane flashback, where you're like, remember that time we were in the Poconos and then cut to it and they show a little bit and they cut back to the island. Keep me on the island. I want to be on the island. So that that's kind of the my my biggest gripe would be uh I wasn't a lot of people loved that, and that was the beauty of the show. And then after that show, every show felt like they had to do flash forwards and flashbacks all the time and tell you about characters. I could have done about half of the flashbacking.
SPEAKER_04What was that show? I just remember the show that I wanted to ask you about. I think it was called Awake. I think it was called Awake. So it was on one the guy was we don't know, we don't know which version of his life was he was awake, but one version his okay, his his son and his wife was in a car accident. He's a cop, and in one version his wife died, and the other version his son died, and we never know the newest show. No, it's an older show, I guess about 10 years ago. Oh, because that's is the one where he's in San Francisco.
SPEAKER_00Is it that one?
SPEAKER_04I think he's in. I'm gonna Google it.
SPEAKER_00All right, because I watch stuff like this, it just feels it feels more like a book I read, but I can't think of what this is.
SPEAKER_04Oh, it might not even be a wake. It might be oh, you know, I might have to like get back to you on it.
SPEAKER_00That's a that's a definitely a Jamar show.
SPEAKER_04If it's a parallel versus I'm in, definitely parallel, and then it only lasted for one season. It was really good.
SPEAKER_00I watch all those, there's tons of them one season. I watched them all.
SPEAKER_04I love the one season shows are the best, and I'm going to do my homework and I'm gonna get back to your name of it. It was really, really good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I definitely watched it, or I will watch it.
SPEAKER_04But uh yeah, that was the episode. I'm like, there was a show that I know that's right up this alley, and it just clicked to me. So yeah, I'm gonna get the name.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. I probably saw it. Oh, yeah. It was my secret.
SPEAKER_01I thought that was my last question, but I have one more.
SPEAKER_00Uh-oh.
SPEAKER_01The show is more or less from Jack's perspective from beginning to end. And I know it's supposed to be about his journey, but him included, you know, which character do you think like f from beginning to end had the biggest and best story arc, the most growth, the most you know, just oh I that's an easy answer, actually.
SPEAKER_00I it wasn't nearly as I mean, they all did, right? And that's kind of the per purpose of the show. I mean, and they show it in the in the end. They all did. That's kind of the purpose of the show. It's the kind of stuff I would like to write. It's this is right down my alley. And they they definitely did it. And I think this easy answer is still Sawyer. I think it's easy. Like answer. Sawyer's like a real man, he's like a real good man, like who you want to be at the end of the show. And and in the beginning, he's like a real scumbag. Like, like, you know, legit scumbag. Like, even you know, like sometimes it's like bad guys where they have a chance to do a good thing and they kind of do it. He did not. Like, it was like you could see him like, oh, let me just not scam this one. Nah. Because his life was a little bad when he was younger. He's gonna be evil for the rest of his life. So I would say for sure Sawyer's the answer, but they did a great job of really showing growth through all the characters, pretty much.
SPEAKER_04Like, you just when he was a scumbag, I still we still liked him for some reason.
SPEAKER_00I like the Sawyer guy. Uh, I mean, I said this on an earlier episode too, they they really made it early on, like those shows tend to do. You gotta be Sawyer or Jack. And they had a Jack or John thing kind of, but you had to be Sawyer or Jack. And I I just I like bad boys. I'm one of them people, so I immediately was hardcore Sawyer, and I just like Jack was an idiot, and you know, I don't know. Like super white guy, you know, he was just like the whitest white guy, and he's just like, I gotta do it all. I'm the smart one, I'm the only one who can do it. Uh, you know, whatever. I just I so so that made me a Sawyer guy from the very beginning, and it was really good to see him become this really good person and made you feel good that he wasn't killed off because you know you pick your person and you don't know what's gonna happen. So he wasn't killed off, and then by the end, he was just like exactly what a man should be. He's like a great boss, a great partner, a great person. He's good to kids, he's just a good guy.
SPEAKER_04And it was just like and then and then, but they still kept the core who he was, they didn't change the characters. Now that was even that made it even better.
SPEAKER_00I was like, Oh, some soft punk. As soon as the end, he's like, I'm gonna kill Jack, I'm gonna kill this guy. When they were in the temple, Hurley was like, Yeah, he took four of the dudes out before they hit him with a rock. He was still Sawyer, like so.
SPEAKER_04I just want to be I want to be Sawyer when I grow up. I want to be a better version of evil Agnes.
SPEAKER_00Like Yeah, I think that's the goal. I think that's why I like him so much because we like you said earlier, we all got a little a little of everything in us, and you don't want to lose what makes you you, but maybe we all want to be good, so a better version of yourself.
SPEAKER_04I think that's everyone's goal. I mean, that's you know, most people want to be once to they want to better themselves whether you know how to or not is a different story, but to be a better version of you, yeah. Who doesn't want that and still maintain who you are? It's the ones that do a complete 180 and change their core person, and those are the ones that we like in real life, we side-eyed. We're like, mm-mm. We know what you were doing just five years ago, girl. Please, like you could be a better version of you and not be so judgmental.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I see. Yeah, yeah, you gotta keep it real. Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_04Right. Like, girl, you were you were hoeing and tooling those poles five minutes ago. I don't know why you're judging the next chick now.
SPEAKER_00Even though I don't like go to church now, and I'm not anti-church, I just don't go now. Um, one thing, one, the one thing I like about churches is the pastors where a lot of churches, the pastors were like they were bad guys back in the day. And it's funny how often those guys become pastors, and I like the ones that don't hide it, and and you know, they'll be giving their certain like shit. I used to be on them corners, I used to be fucking hoes.
SPEAKER_05He was like, Oh, he's like, Oh, I'll touch my pearls.
SPEAKER_00I like those are my types of pastors. I would say about 50% of the pastors I know are like that. Like, they all were like the worst people.
unknownOh god.
SPEAKER_01Oh Lord. But that's that's redemption, I guess, right? You just you find a better path.
SPEAKER_04Every sinner what was it? Every sinner has a future, every saint has a past.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I ever heard that one. Write that down. See how I made it up.
SPEAKER_04Do it, we won't tell.
SPEAKER_00We won't tell.
SPEAKER_04I mean, to be fair, I got it with somebody else. So I mean, you know.
SPEAKER_00Maybe it was me. Maybe I said that.
SPEAKER_04Like it was you.
SPEAKER_01I definitely some journey. Like not just not just the show, but the podcast and also being able to include you in our recordings after almost every season.
SPEAKER_00So the one that you didn't want me for, yes. The other one.
SPEAKER_04Honestly, and then hearing the story of how you became like Lisa, he came to you. Like someone came to you. I don't remember. But I think it's a beautiful.
SPEAKER_01I think it's I think that's like, oh my god. Yay! I think actually, hold on a second. I think I do remember.
SPEAKER_04Okay. He just told you, of course you remember.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, not that. Because you asked how we how we coordinated for that first fan favorite. So I think I'm like, well, how'd you guys meet?
SPEAKER_04Like, how did it even become?
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, maybe you posted because I followed. Like, hey, hey, who's a fan? Who wants to do it? And I'm like, Me, I'm a fan. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I forgot that whole part before that, and I I had no idea that you were at Podfest. Yeah, yeah, definitely Podfest. That's really cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Two ships passing a night didn't really.
SPEAKER_00It was right before uh COVID. People were there wearing masks, and it was getting weird, and there was uh hand sanitizer everywhere.
SPEAKER_01Everywhere. Yeah, and people were like, um, can can I hug you? Can I talk to you?
SPEAKER_00Like, yeah, it was real weird. It was a real weird time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, I'm glad, however it was, I'm really glad that we met and were able to share this with you and our listeners, because I think that you bring just such like a fun perspective, you know, a fun take on everything that has to do with the show. And we really appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00Well, thank you.
SPEAKER_04He's gonna cry now.
SPEAKER_00No, I he's being sincere. I mostly make jokes, so I don't I never know how to handle that. Yes. Uh thank you. And you as well, Lisa and Agnes, for having me on. I don't know how many years it's been. Oh, so it probably started in 2020. Has it been five years?
SPEAKER_01So we actually started yeah, we actually started this in 2019, the end of 2019.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, because it was already gone by the time I knew you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then we took some time off.
SPEAKER_00I'm off. I was wondering why it goes. Yeah, I remember. I thought it was I thought you guys like hated each other and weren't speaking, so I just kind of didn't talk to you. I didn't know what was going on.
SPEAKER_04Oh no, I had I had like grown-up stuff to take care of. Like I don't have time.
SPEAKER_00I was like trying to like, I don't know what's happening.
SPEAKER_04I don't she still jokes because I remember she's like, Can you just do one more? I said, No, I can't do like minds over text. I'm like, No, I gotta stop. Like, I can't have the time. And her said no. That was that's what she heard in her head. Like, no, that's not what I said. She's like, Yes, I was, you know what I mean to me.
SPEAKER_00And then there was like another person that wasn't you, and I was like, Oh boy, it's just and then Britney is like, fuck you too, bitch.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no, no, Brittany, Britney's a teacher in a public school, so Brittany has her own ton of shit on her plate, and it was like her first year teaching in this school.
SPEAKER_04So that's a that's a massive undertaking in it.
unknownSure.
SPEAKER_04I think he was just like, wait, I don't hear Agnes anymore. Wait, there's somebody else on. What's going on?
SPEAKER_00Yep, yep, yep. I definitely thought that was a I was like, they're not friends. I thought they were like best friends. What happened?
SPEAKER_04Oh, couldn't you know? We we should do like a we should do like a what if this happened episode. Like we got into a big fight and build whole drama, and and then I was trying to figure out what side to take too.
SPEAKER_00I was like, we gotta gotta change one.
SPEAKER_01So which side would you take?
SPEAKER_00Um, I put a lot of thought into it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, oh, okay, because I just had this happened.
SPEAKER_00Um, it's tough. Lisa sort of brought me into the fold.
SPEAKER_04That is true, that is fair.
SPEAKER_00Um, Agnes has much darker skin. Uh that's how I rank everything in life. Like, uh well, look her skin look almost like mine. I know. That's it.
SPEAKER_05That's the realest answer I've ever heard on this on the show. I am I'm not mad at it.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know how these days white people are so discriminated against. I mean, look, look at this. Look at this right here on my own podcast.
SPEAKER_00This is this is true. So I'll make every decision. I bring my own paper bags, reverse paper bag test.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, these days I don't blame you. Lisa the reverse paper bag test.
SPEAKER_04I can't.
SPEAKER_00I can't you're out. You're out.
SPEAKER_04I'm going to reference this for the rest of my life. I just want you to know that.
SPEAKER_00This is what I just make that up. I'm gonna reference it.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I can't even pretend like I'm upset because if I had to choose, I might make a decision based that way, also.
SPEAKER_03There you go.
SPEAKER_04At least I was picking Agnes too.
SPEAKER_01No, I might pick Jamar, he's darker.
unknownFuck it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, there you go.
SPEAKER_00Agnes is my good friend. Jamar is slightly darker.
SPEAKER_04I'm too white compared to Jamar. Got it. Okay, you know, that is fair. Okay, I'm not I'm not even mad at it. I think I pull something.
SPEAKER_01Well, we are definitely gonna keep you in mind for the next show. And no matter what it is, we're still gonna reach out to you. You can reject us or ignore us like you did for season five. But we will definitely still keep you in the loop, and the invitation is always there. Cool.
SPEAKER_04And then um also I think that since the last time um you recorded with us 100 years ago, we have different series now. Um, like um, we have like for our feed, we do Sassin Sips and Spotlight, where we you know just talk to Oh, yeah, I know I see that.
SPEAKER_00I hit the like button and stuff, and uh I watch the clips, I subscribed on YouTube. It always comes on YouTube. I'm the one that likes everything.
SPEAKER_04You don't you're that one person. Oh my god, thanks. So, in the event we don't have to pick a show that you like or you want to watch, you know, we're like, hey, I miss you. You want to be a spotlight guest? You just have to say yes. Okay, great, thanks.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_04But asking, I'm telling you.
SPEAKER_00I watched uh the this isn't a criticism, but it is about me. Uh, and I shouldn't hold this. Every time I watch the uh spotlight or other people, for the most part, they're always very serious, which also in part makes me feel like a child, but I'm fine, that's just me. Um, and also like I just I don't know, I feel like it's a different show. It'll always be it's usually a woman. I don't know if I've seen any other guys. Oh, wait, somebody's husband, I think, is on one or something, but um, it's usually a woman, and she's always like, and then I got my third diet through it, and that was uh in Paris, and and then I'm like show that I'm on when we're drinking and cursing and stuff, so it's always okay.
SPEAKER_04To be fair, okay, so um we do have uh like some of our guests have been like grown-ups, and me and Lisa are like, wait, we're not grown up enough of this. And for every person, I'm like, Lisa, I don't think we're grown up enough. Like, I have doubts before we hit every recording. I'm like, this is not us. We don't, we're not growing up enough of this.
SPEAKER_01Well, you think if you will sure that I'm like, how do we act?
SPEAKER_04And what are we doing? Why do they want to talk to us? That's my question, right?
SPEAKER_00I get that been there.
SPEAKER_04But I gotta say, about they always end up to be like throughout the recording, a complete shit show in the best possible way. Um, and we do have a couple, we do have one coming up, though he hasn't no, he just got just got released. He's fun. That was a fun one, too. Oh, Dustin, yeah. That that was a complete shit show in the best possible way. Good. So it's really just about the person.
SPEAKER_01And next month for February Spotlight, we go back to toilet humor, and it's two guys.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yes, all right, yes, toilet humor up the wazoo. Yeah, all right.
SPEAKER_00I will tune in.
SPEAKER_04So it right up, it's right up your alley. Maybe I'm there.
SPEAKER_00I'm there.
SPEAKER_04Um, so yeah, that's what's gonna happen. You're gonna have to be on one-hour spotlight guests. I'm not asking, I'm telling. That's how black women do it. Um, thank you so much for making time for us because I was so afraid of being a bully and you blocking us.
SPEAKER_00No, you're very nice. But Lisa was adamant that we had to get you back. I'm okay. That was funny. Okay, you were you were nice and and persistent.
SPEAKER_01So I guess my mistake was me reaching out to him to season five, since clearly you are his preferred type.
SPEAKER_00I am the paper back. No, you really, I mean, Lisa, you knew because you must see it on Instagram. I really I'm not as busy right now, but I like playing two bands, I take karate, I had a play I'm doing, I was doing a movie, I had two jobs. I was like, I can I can't do it. I take all so I can't do it.
SPEAKER_04I'm gonna fuck with you about it, but we get it. Yeah, we totally get it, and that's why I felt bad. I'm like, are you sure we should ask him? He has a real life, he's a grown-up.
SPEAKER_00I don't know if we should ask himself, but oh man, I didn't do it last time.
SPEAKER_01In fairness, when I when I reached out about season five, he made it clear that he had a shit ton on his plate and that he probably wouldn't have time to record until December, January. Yes, I remember that. You did no, you did, you did, and then I was like, Yeah, but you could fit us in in like September. Yeah, you did.
SPEAKER_00I thought I was like, No, that's actually the worst month. Definitely not, definitely not clearly, because you didn't.
SPEAKER_04I was very scared. Okay. Anything you wanna you want to promote? Yeah, do it. Throw in there, throw it in there now. We put it in the show notes.
SPEAKER_00Uh, I I don't, you know, sometimes I try to, but uh you know, um, my YouTube, I try to keep it worthwhile now, kind of. Uh it's just me practicing saxophone mostly, but I also will put up whatever short films, I'll put up plays, that kind of stuff. So go look at my play or something like that. It's on there. It's just my name, Jamar Deron.
SPEAKER_04Okay, we'll put a link. We'll throw up a link because we obviously we have that link. Um, because we sassy sip stalks our friends, so we can definitely have your link.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, you sometimes I see you liking my stuff too. I was like, oh, they remember me. That's cool.
SPEAKER_01What when I see it, I like it.
SPEAKER_04It's what she's actually on.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's the problem that I'm not on a lot.
SPEAKER_04Lisa wants 600 social media, but she doesn't want to be on social media.
SPEAKER_01Lisa's very busy doing the editing and the organizing. That's why I think we're breaking up again. We need to get rid of some of the social media. That's all. Just get rid of the streamline it.
unknownJust streamline it.
SPEAKER_01You you missed the point of that dig, but okay. I know I got the dig. I just didn't give a fuck.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we're never breaking up. After this, we're probably just kissing make out a little bit. Yeah, it's all good. Different show, right? He's like, I'm gonna watch.
SPEAKER_00Um I was not gonna say that out loud.
SPEAKER_04Jamar, thank you again for making time for us. And I I don't know, when you're rich and famous, can you just send us tickets? Ha, cute.
SPEAKER_00Uh when you're not joking.
SPEAKER_04I'm kind of joking.
SPEAKER_00We'll all be there together. That's all for everything. Yep, yep. And we'll be laughing and pointing a smile.
SPEAKER_04Send me tickets.
SPEAKER_05Okay.
SPEAKER_04All right. This is when we do our silly sign-off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. We thank everyone for listening. We thank Jamar for making time and recording with us. We remind you as always to drink responsibly and not to drink and drive.
