Previously unlost. I told you to take it. Listen to me. Has anyone seen it? Yeah, yeah, he took off on the path to the beach. Where's Charlie? He went after Claire. Footprints. Three distinct sets all over the place. All I wanted was Claire.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to this week's episode of Sassin's Sips, where every week we will be discussing and dissecting an episode of Lost in Order. Today's episode is special. We are your hosts. I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And welcome. Hi Lisa! Hi Agnes. What you sipping on? So I came through with the patron and the mango because you made yours sound so good last week that I had to try it. And it's so fucking bad.
SPEAKER_00Are you coasting like a motherfucker right now?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm on my. Like, you know what? It was so right. If it ain't April, don't fix it. So I'm doing my peach nectar and poltrone.
SPEAKER_01Yep. After last week's episode, we are now halfway through the first season.
SPEAKER_00So halfway. So listen, and no last week had an issue at my degree or where I was at. Considering we were halfway through, me being in 90 isn't on the palm with the season. Okay?
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01It's not. Alright. I guess I'll have no choice but to take it. That's what she said. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_00Oh, highly inappropriate. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I think I've been watching The Office too much. I usually watch it when I go to sleep.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so I never watched The Office. So when I first started saying, when I first heard it, like 100 years ago, I'm like, I didn't know where it came from. Um, but I'm like, oh, it's from The Office. Like my favorite inappropriate independent came from a show I don't watch. Maybe I should watch it.
SPEAKER_01It's dry humor. It might take a couple of episodes, and then you're like, this is so fucking stupid. The first few episodes, I couldn't get into it, and I was like, this show is stupid. Why does everybody think it's so funny?
SPEAKER_00But then once you realize the characters CJ was getting one of her tattoos, and I went with her, and they they were playing it. And I liked it. It was cute, it was funny because I like that dry humor. Yeah. Well, okay, then yeah. So I lied, it's just not something that I was like so much things on my DVR and on my necklace list and the Hulu list that I'm like, okay, I can't add another show. It's like, it's ridiculous. But it's nothing I don't want to watch. It's just like I can't get to you when I get to you. You actually hung up. I don't know if you listen, people, this is how much I love this chick, then I'm not offended, but this chick like hung up on me because a particular episode Long With Order was on. And I took no offense to it. Because girl, I feel you. I get it.
SPEAKER_01Let's acknowledge that if you don't catch the first two minutes when they set everything up, I mean, that's like the best part of the episode.
SPEAKER_00You get And Briscoe's smart ass comment.
SPEAKER_01Like and you miss Jerry Orback. Like, you have to listen to the first few minutes.
SPEAKER_00That's why I said I respect it and I understand it. She actually texts me, like, I'm so sorry. I'm like, girl.
SPEAKER_01You have your best mind. It's also because I had to watch it on my phone that I needed to hang up so immediately. If it was on the TV, it would it wouldn't have been as you know.
SPEAKER_00That was funny. Like I was actually laughing as we hung up for a good couple of minutes after that.
SPEAKER_01It was like because I just was like, oh, it's working, gotta go by. I was like, oh right.
SPEAKER_00She was so apologetic, I felt like I should have been offended. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01So dumb with you.
SPEAKER_00Yes, so yeah, I have those friendships where we call like like you're fucking stupid, bitch. It's a type of endearment, and we mean it but nothing but love. Like I got friendships from like I've known Lisa since we were eight. My friend Angie since we were nine. I got some rhythmied homies in my corner.
SPEAKER_01Am I your oldest friend? Or your your longest friend? Maybe not.
SPEAKER_00I know, because I was thinking something smart ass to say when you said oldest.
SPEAKER_01Well, I already know Angie's older than me. You're older than me. By a month. Still counts.
SPEAKER_00Ten years later. I forgot what we're doing.
SPEAKER_01Alright, special. Okay, ready?
SPEAKER_00Ready.
SPEAKER_01Okay. We're gonna flash back to 1994. Michael and his partner Susan shop in a store for baby supplies. The two are soon expecting and are extremely excited. Michael says he wants to call the baby Walt after his father. In 1995, which is sometime later, baby Walt sits playing as Michael argues with Susan. She has been offered a prestigious position with the law firm in Amsterdam and wishes to take Walt with her. Susan says that they had talked about taking time apart, and she still does love him, but she had already accepted the position. Michael promises to fight her, but Susan points out they are unmarried, and as a mother with a steady income in comparison to Michael, he would not stand the chance of winning in a custody battle. Michael simply looks at his young son as he plays with his toys. Months have passed since Susan left Michael. He calls her from a payphone asking to speak to Walt. She tells him it's not a good time, and Michael hears a man's voice in the background. Susan reveals that she has been seeing someone else, her boss, Brian Porter. Michael says he is coming to Amsterdam, not for Susan, but to take his son back. Hanging up, Michael storms away, but forgetting to look, walks out into the middle of the road and is hit by an oncoming vehicle. In a hospital, Michael draws a picture of an injured man in a cast. The nurse comments on how good his work is and he tells her the picture is for his son. As she leaves, Susan appears and tells Michael that she's covering all his medical cloths for him. Michael is immediately suspicious, and Susan admits she will be marrying Brian and he wants to adopt Walt as his legal son. Michael refuses. Susan questions his motive, suggesting that Michael is holding on for his own stubborn principles rather than love for his son. Now in 2004, Walt sits staring at Vincent as Susan and Brian talk about their job. The three are in Australia with Susan dealing with an important case. Susan suddenly starts to feel faint, and as Brian gives her attention, the two start to ignore Walt. Walt tells them to look at the birds in his book numerous times, and he starts to get upset, but they continue to pay him no notice. At that moment, a small bird crashes into the window. Both Brian and Walt go to look at the bird's lifeless body. A stunned Brian watches as Walt simply returns to his book, looking at more bird pictures. In the United States, Brian knocks at Michael's door. He informs Michael that Susan died the day before. Susan had a blood disorder and began to feel symptoms about a week before her death. Michael asks where Walt is and is shocked to hear that Brian has left him with the nanny at such a time. Brian tells Michael that before her death, Susan said he wanted Michael to have custody. Michael soon sees past this and realizes Brian does not care for Walt, only pursuing paternal rights in the past to please Susan. He offers Michael plane tickets to and from Sydney, inviting him to come and take Walt. Michael is livid that Brian would willingly abandon Walt, but is confused when Brian says the boy is different and things happen when he's around. In Sydney, the nanny lets Michael in and gives him some of Susan's effects. She also produces a box. As she excuses herself, Michael walks down the hallway, opening the box. Inside, he finds all the cards and letters he had ever sent to Walt, which had all been intercepted by Susan. Michael hears the nanny tell Walt that someone is here to see him, and Michael follows the voices with apprehension. Making his way to the porch, Michael finally meets Walt again. He tells him that he is his father and tells him he's sorry about Susan. Walt asks where Brian is, and Michael says he's taking Walt home with him. Walt is reluctant to go with a stranger, and Michael is forced to lie. He tells Walt that it is not Brian's decision, and as Michael is his legal guardian, he has to go with him. Walt asks about Vincent his dog, and Michael says Brian said they could have him.
SPEAKER_00So that was awesome. Like that, like fuck it, take the dog too.
SPEAKER_01I love that Michael gives Walt the dog because that's like a big fuck you to Brian. But I thought it was such an impressive thing that Michael did, especially when you compare it to what we've seen out of him on the island, how he just took the brunt and let Walt believe that it was on him instead of just being childish.
SPEAKER_00That was the first time I saw him be a grown-up and think of someone other than himself. And mind you, I still think he's insecure and he has his qualities that I'm not too fond of. But what she did for taking his son away, there's no excuse. Right. I think it was so wrong. Michael wasn't an abusive man. Mike, you know what I mean? Right. Actions like that makes it hard for everybody. And yeah, he didn't deserve that, nor won't not be with his father at all. And as you can see, when she forced allegedly, according to Brian, has she forced him to adopt him? She had a long-term plan for her for her life.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00So while I I do take back what I said about my harshness, and I did say for whatever reason, he wasn't in his life. And granted, he wasn't in a position to fight for him because lawyers cost money. And I'm sure he thought he was in the right thing for his son. I do feel for him.
SPEAKER_01It's just it just gives you a whole new perspective on where Michael is coming from. And I think that we needed it because Michael is a really hard character to like.
SPEAKER_00He really is. And watching the show and understanding everything, I still think like it doesn't change my thoughts of him as a person. I feel what he went through. I wouldn't have wished that on anybody. But my opinion of his as a personality is still kind of like, um You guys have grown up a dude, dude. Having a child makes you grow up in a way you don't expect it to. You could be an adult and be responsible. Having a child can make you grow up in a different way. And maybe if he was in Walt, he had the opportunity to be in Walt's life, he maybe he would have grown up in a different way. Maybe he would have been, you know. So the bird.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_01Did it look to you like it was the same bird from the book? Because I couldn't tell.
SPEAKER_00I couldn't tell either, but I think I think it was the idea that was just the the situation. Like, hey, was it just coincidental? But then the way Brian looked to him made you think, like, no. Like Brian kind of looked like afraid of him.
SPEAKER_01I definitely feel like the bird hitting the window wasn't coincidental.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I just kind of want to know, does it get touched? Do they does it get brought up again? I don't need to know details. It gets brought up. That's what we're gonna tell me.
SPEAKER_01Ask me a more specific question.
SPEAKER_00But I don't want a specific answer.
SPEAKER_01I just want the general answer. Touched on again.
SPEAKER_00Does waltz uncoincidental, coincidental abilities to make birds fly into windows? Like whatever is that what did Brian say about him? He's different. Whatever makes him different, does that get brought up again? That smile says yes.
SPEAKER_01You have such a shit-eating grin.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, but you don't know why. And I'll tell you at the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to know why.
SPEAKER_01I'll tell you at the end of the episode. It'll make sense. You'll understand why I have a shit-eating grin.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Oh. Alright. Killing me smalls. I wore my shirt yesterday too. My killing me smalls shirt. And I thought about you. Oh. And then I was like, damn, we should have saved it. On the island, day 26. Let me take a drink and then continue to read.
SPEAKER_00I'm just glad you didn't say in the jungle, because literally every single time you say that, I thought singing in my head.
SPEAKER_01Michael wanders the jungle shouting for Walt. He finds Charlie who is searching for Claire's luggage. Neither can help the other, nor can Jack or Hurley, whom Michael sees next. As Michael leaves to find his son, Hurley comments to Jack that he seems to hate being a dad. Walt is with Loc and Boone, learning how to throw knives. After being told to focus the task in his mind's eye, Walt shows an unusually natural proficiency. Michael finds them and scolds John for what he was doing. Locke comments that Walt is different, but Michael flatly tells Loc to stay away from him and his son. As night falls on the island, Son notices Michael's distance expression as he stares into the fire and asks him if he's okay. He curtly replies that he's fine, but says he just doesn't understand how to communicate with Walt.
SPEAKER_00Spoiler alert, you never understand how to communicate with your child.
SPEAKER_01Locke had said that Michael should stop treating Walt like a child, but having never been there during Walt's childhood, Michael doesn't know what else to do. Elsewhere, Said and Shannon explain to Jack about Rousseau's map, which Said has been critically analyzing. He's discovered there is a point on the map, or rather the island, highlighted in all the notes. The three surmise this could be the location of the transmitter and its power source. Michael interrupts them, telling them they have to get off the island. He proposes building a raft out of wood and wreckage from the plane. Their pessimism does not deter Michael, who says he will do it with or without their support. Here we get Michael trying to build a raft or the idea of it.
SPEAKER_00I can't roll my eyes hard enough or shake my head enough. Why? Why would that be such a bad thing?
SPEAKER_01If nobody is coming, I mean he's in construction. Why couldn't he?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so one, you'll know where you're at. Two, do you know how big the fucking ocean is? Like the odds that you're gonna get in a raft and survive long enough to even float to land? And who's gonna say that's not gonna be another deserted fucking island at that? And storms and like it's just the insanity of it all. Like it's dangerous to float on a boat in the ocean, like stupidity. Not that the thraft wouldn't be C E-worthy, but how long do you think you're gonna survive just floating in ocean?
SPEAKER_01Hey everyone, Lisa here. I want to take a moment to tell you about this really cool travel backpack that I got. It's made by Muslim and it's so cool. As you know, Agnes and I are not in the same state. So we travel to see each other quite frequently. This backpack makes it so easy to do so. The bag has space for everything. When I fly, I don't like to check a bag. This makes it so easy for me to bring everything that I need with me on carry-on, including recording equipment. It has a space for everything. Trust me when I say that if you travel, even if it's just for a road trip, this bag is perfect for you. Go to muzzum.com now and use our promo code SASPOD for 20% off of your new bag. Trust me when I say you'll love it. Day 27. Walt sits reading a flash comic book in Spanish. And Michael tries to take the opportunity to get to know his son more. Walt's unenthusiastic responses, however, cause Michael to slip back into his ordering parent role and he commands Walt to come with him. Kate finds Charlie on the beach as the golden sun is setting in the sky. He asks her if she's seen Claire's diary, which he knows she used to keep in her bag. He suspects someone has taken it. Meanwhile, Michael and Walt arrive at the destination, a clearing full of bamboo and pieces of plane wreckage Michael has moved. Walt asks if he's being punished, but Michael tells him they are taking control of their destiny. Back at the beach, Kate and Charlie go to their first suspect, Sawyer. He jokes he is automatically suspect. He jokes he is automatically the prime suspect when an object goes missing, but sure enough, he does have the diary on his person. He toys with Charlie over what Claire wrote, resulting in the two coming to blows and forcing Kate to break it up. As Michael continues to sift through wreckage, Walt spots Locke and Boone heading into the caves. He pretends to go for water to escape Michael's supervision. Inside the caves, Shannon and Boone exchange verbal abuse, and Shannon suggests they help Michael build a raft. Boone declines. The dynamic between the two has already shifted. Since Boone has seen that vision, he's no longer at her beckon command.
SPEAKER_00What's the word I'm looking for? He's no longer a victim to his own feelings to her.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. And she tries No, go ahead. She tries to bait him. I forgot what she says, but she tries to bait him somehow. And Boone just won't take the bait. And he won't give her what she wants. And you see Boone is finally just like past it, standing up for himself.
SPEAKER_00Do you remember last week's episode when he kept saying, I just can't keep lying to her? And Locke was like, You can't keep lying to her, or you don't like the you just can't keep dealing with how you feel when she reacts to you lying to her. And I'm thinking that's the same thing. You only care when you care about how they feel about you lying to them. So I think now he treats her like anyone would treat a person that's you're not you're not a slave to your own emotions to somebody. So I think he in this case has gone to a whole nother extreme. Like you can relinquish that power a person has over you without being such a dick. Like now I think he's he's becoming a dick for another reason. Like, dude, there's a happy medium. Like you can not let them have power over you, but he seems like a big kid to me. All these man-baby.
SPEAKER_01Another one. Oh god.
SPEAKER_00Epidemic.
SPEAKER_01Meanwhile, Locke tells Walt he should start respecting his father's wishes. Though Walt disagrees. Michael spots the two together again and shouts at John in front of everyone. Walt suddenly shouts himself, calling Michael a jerk and asking him where he was all his life and telling him he is not his father. In response, Michael throws Walt's comic book into the fire, further increasing Walt's loathing. Not long later, Hurley tells Michael that Walt took Vincent and left. Michael says he knows where Walt is going and immediately heads after Locke. Walt isn't with Locke however, leaving Michael shaken as to where his son might be. Locke offers to help and the two head out to find him. Charlie thanks Kate for her help and says while Claire is gone, he's crumbling inside. As she leaves, after numerous times of almost opening Claire's diary, he removes temptation by running away from the book. That scene was so strange.
SPEAKER_00That was kind of funny.
SPEAKER_01Walt is out in the jungle walking Vincent when the dog suddenly barks madly and runs away. Walt chases after him, dropping the dog's leash in the process. Side note, whatever is the maker of that leash, the brand, nobody should buy it. Because it just snaps off in a second. Just seriously. It just fucking snaps right off. All the time. Alright, sorry. Instead of his dog, however, Walt finds something else in the jungle, which roars as it approaches. Locke and Michael find the leash and hear Walt screaming in the distance. They find him trapped between tree stumps behind vines. A polar bear thrashes against the confined safe space, trying to get to Walt. With Locke's guidance, the two climb up a nearby tree and maneuver themselves above Walt's location. To help Walt, Michael gives him Locke's knife. Tying Walt to a vine, Locke pulls him to safety while Michael single-handedly fends off the bear. Five minutes ago, your dad was a jerk. Now there's a polar bear after you, and he's like, Oh my god, dad, save me, dad, save me. Fucking kids. Ungrateful little brat.
SPEAKER_00Can you tell that we're parents? Okay.
SPEAKER_01As night falls, Michael finds Walt, giving him the box of letters he got back in Australia. Walt asks why his mother never gave them to him, and Michael points out that she never got rid of them either. The two look at the cards and laugh together at the cheesy jokes inside them. Meanwhile, Charlie reads Claire's diary, in which she writes how much she likes him. He then notices something and tells Jack and Said what it says, a dream about the Black Rock. Said recalls that Rousseau said something about the Black Rock, and Charlie believes that this is perhaps where Claire was taken. Out in the jungle, Locke uses his homemade dog whistle to find Vincent. Instead of Vincent, however, a human figure emerges from the jungle. A shaking Claire reveals herself.
SPEAKER_00So I have so much to say about the whole father-son dynamic. So a couple things. For example, when they're doing the wrap. Okay, first judgmental Agnes, and then I explain to you, then I'm with my less judgmental point. Is it so hard? It is hard, but don't you think he would have got a better reaction if he would have talked to Walt and not talked at him as to why they were doing what they were doing? Like, hey, I want to build a rap. Well, if you don't want to tell me, okay, I want to build something and I'm gonna need these supplies, so let's just start separating them as opposed to do this, do this, do this. No, as a parent, I get that I want to be able to talk to my child, and I really try to go in that, even to this day, and she's 20 years old, and I'm almost 21, so you know, and I want to be able to talk to her. And I gotta admit, it's hard not to talk at your child. And I own it, and we all have those moments as parents when you just want them to just fucking listen, damn it. So I get it. So while I'm that little scene was my opinion, I think a little judgmental, that's not the first situation where he didn't talk to him. Like he has a history of he has a four-day history of talking at him. And especially after seeing the flashback at the when he went to go pick him up, he was doing he was doing so well when trying to communicate with this stranger. Like this child didn't know you from Adam, and you did really well trying to communicate with him. Now you just talk Adam, and I own it, it's hard. I get it.
SPEAKER_01Everything has to be. But since we're talking I was gonna say everything has to be more stressful on the island. Yes. And I think a hundred times that also keeping in mind that Michael really doesn't know how to be a father, it's hard enough to talk to a kid when things are good sometimes, but when you have to be that disciplinarian, that's a lot more nights. Right. And so I think that Michael just doesn't know any better. You know, and I think he don't know. I think he means well and he just give him some slack. Fails.
SPEAKER_00Like it's in him. Like I've seen it in him. He has his moments, I'm like, you can do this. So I remember the comic book, I remember they brought it back. I'm like, oh yeah, I remember thinking that was weird with the polar bear and the comic book, and they had just seen the polar bear. I remember thinking that was weird. Now, after watching the flashback and the polar bear comic again, did my did Waltz somehow materialize the polar bear?
SPEAKER_01And here goes my shit eating grin. Even when we saw it the first time in in a previous episode, we saw the comic book before we saw the polar bear.
SPEAKER_00Right, and I didn't and I thought I knew there's some kind of connection. These two go hand in hand. But it's not the comic book per se, it is Walt.
SPEAKER_01Right, and then in this one, Walt is reading the comic book, Michael gets mad, takes it, but then That was cold. Yeah, and then in another scene when Walt is being a little jerk, Michael takes the comic and throws it in the fire.
unknownThat was cold.
SPEAKER_01That's when Yeah, that's pretty fucked up. That's when Walt storms off, and then that's when the polar bear comes. So did he summon it for the attention?
SPEAKER_00I think Okay, because this is TV Logic. Um, I don't think he knows he's doing it. I think he I don't think he knows he's doing it. I honestly think it's something that's on I think subconscious. I don't think he realized it's him doing it.
unknownIt could be.
SPEAKER_00So but Locke did say like the first or second episode that he's special.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I didn't think he meant this type of special. My man Locke is a genius. He keeps showing his genius every episode. I wonder if Terry's ever gonna listen to this podcast.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna have to send it to him. You can go hand deliver it to him.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna hand deliver him a podcast. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you just bring him a recording or something.
SPEAKER_00Here's my phone.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Speaking of Locke, Boone has really become his little fucking lackey. He fights with Michael on Locke's behalf. He's like the you know how there's like a big dog and then a yappy little dog? Boone has become that lap yappy little dog from like the cartoons.
unknownPut emo.
SPEAKER_00I wonder how much of a male like I know his mother was married to Shannon's father, but I wonder how much of a father figure he actually had. He might have looked at Locke as that dad, you know. And not for nothing, Locke's abilities are kind of cool. So you would think most men, like either you're intimidated by it or you would think it's totally cool. And we never find out who hissed over the head. There's a lot of things. Does it do they ever go back to that? I don't know. They do better. And every time we mention Claire, I want peanut butter. I know, I know. Oh, so when funny story, when he was reading her journal, I heard her voice in my head. Like I read it in her voice. I know, insane. I got issues.
SPEAKER_01In this episode, Walt's other dad was named Brian. And in the last episode, Shannon's boyfriend was named Brian.
SPEAKER_00Coincidence or not the same. It wasn't the same person. No. Are they all connected by somebody? They all have this one connection. I don't know. Oh, the people who survived at the plane crash. Remember, they said, like the first two episodes, beginning, like the fact that they survived doesn't make sense. The way the plane crashed, they shouldn't have survived.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00My theory is that everyone survived for a reason. And the all all the survivors are connected somehow. And that connection leads them back to that island. For those who can't see her, which is all of you, she looks very per she has that perplexing look on her face. It's kind of interesting because usually I look and perturbed. So it's good to have the tables reversed.
SPEAKER_01No, I get it. I get it. I get it.
SPEAKER_00You're leaving me. You're killing me, Smalls. Like killing me. I kind of like the fact that you won't tell me anything.
SPEAKER_01One last thing to touch on as far as themes go. We get mention of the Black Rock again. Yes. Any thoughts about the Black Rock?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I have no idea what the Black Rock is. But I find it funny that on the map she has like a triangle. Because it's very you know, triangle-ish, this island. It's really like I'm like, uh-huh, uh-huh. Because honestly, that's your first thought anyway.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_00The fact that, especially when you have that um the signal for 16 years and then no one picked it up and they were way off course.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Out of nowhere, they're like hundreds of miles off course. Like I'm like very triangulish anyway. Right. And then you have the compass that's not working, because that leads to magnet magnetic shit, wonky things going on. So yeah, it's a lot that leads to that kind of wonkiness.
SPEAKER_01Let's talk about characters. We touched on Michael and how we get a different side. So after seeing his some of his flashbacks overall, what are your thoughts on him?
SPEAKER_00He was wrong. I have faith that he can get together with Walt and they can build some kind of listen, let's be honest. They're stuck with they're stuck there, they had no choice but to get it together and depend on each other. It is what it is. Um I heard for any person, man or woman, has their child taken from them for no reason. And so yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, as soon as I'm gonna do it.
SPEAKER_00Mike, don't don't make me regret.
SPEAKER_01So do you like him more or less or the same?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I think I gotta now kinda neutral on him because those traits that I thought was just character traits in him that I didn't like, now just wondering if they were caused by they were situational traits. I wonder.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Um if they were just who he is. I'm like, yes, I don't like you. If they were just caused based on the situation, then I gotta give him another chance.
SPEAKER_01Well, just based on this episode, after seeing this episode, do you like him more, less, or the same just based on this episode versus before you watch this episode? Only knowing what you know so far.
SPEAKER_00If we were on that island and I got to know him as the show is showing you, no. And right now, if okay to say just this episode. If I never saw anything else, okay. If I never saw any other episode.
SPEAKER_01But now, before you watched this episode, you felt XYZ. But now, after watching this episode, have your feelings changed at all? And if they have, is it you like more likable, less likable, or just ech, it's still pretty much.
SPEAKER_00My answer is still the same. I think I will hold off. I'm not gonna be as judgmental about them. I see you're in different light. Do I like you more? Not necessarily, but I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt going forward, and I may love I may like you more if I see change.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Next week's episode focuses on Charlie. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00Are they gonna Charlie? So is it gonna be Charlie after he saw his brother and asked him to draw the band again?
SPEAKER_01Really? Why are you asking?
SPEAKER_00Fine.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_00Are they gonna pick up where they left off or is this a totally new time period?
SPEAKER_01So anyway, next week focuses on Charlie.
SPEAKER_00Evil.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh. And any thoughts on Charlie before we watch?
SPEAKER_00Next week, Charlie, and you're not giving me any clues about it. No.
SPEAKER_01But I just want to hear your thoughts preemptively. I mean, I don't I don't want you to necessarily say what you think is gonna happen, but just before you w get more information about Charlie, how do you feel about Charlie?
SPEAKER_00I like him. He's a good egg. Okay. He's he has a good heart. He means well, and he's a good egg. I don't think there's an evil, malicious part of him. Maybe someone like some you know, he may not make the best decisions the right decisions all the time, but he has a good heart. He's a good he's a good kid.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm. Okay, alright, fair enough. There's not a lot of trivia this week. There's one that's kind of alright, I'll I'll give it to you. It's a little bit spoiler-ish.
SPEAKER_00Give it to me, baby. But all the holes in my brain, I'll probably forget it by the time the episode's come up.
SPEAKER_01This episode features the first mention of Egypt. Walt suggests he should be studying the birds of Egypt rather than the birds of Australia.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so when they say it's the first time it's mentioned, does that mean that they're gonna mention it again? Like, why is that important? Okay.
SPEAKER_01Claire appears without speaking lines in this episode, and this is the first episode since Pilot Part 2 that is centric to more than one character.
SPEAKER_00But she didn't look prepant to me anymore.
SPEAKER_01So that'll do it for this week. Oh let's stay tuned. Come come back next week.
SPEAKER_00Because person just thought it wasn't me. I'm like, does she because by the time I it clicked, I like, wait, hold up. Fucking head, tell you. That's fucking awesome.
SPEAKER_01I told you you had to get past you got you had to get to like that halfway mark, and then that's when the real good shit starts happening. And we're still only in the first season. Next week's episode, the next two episodes for me are kind of like they're not they're good, they're not great. I'll be honest. For me anyway, they're not anything actually no, hold on, hold on. No, I lied. It's just that the next episode for me is like eh. You know? It's good, it's just not as good as the episodes surrounding it, you know, like before and after. But then we pick up again, and then it's for me, it's kind of like from Outlaws on, it's like go, go, go, go, up to the finale.
SPEAKER_00Okay, copy that. I'm ready. Okay, I'm ready. It's kind of it's kind of like homecoming.
SPEAKER_01We had to like slow down because we had a blinking yellow light, but then after that, it's like green lights ahead.
SPEAKER_00It's like straight Audubon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
unknownYeah. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00I get that on so many levels because I have a very heavy foot.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00And I've been playing with my different ships and my gears. Girl, I can have fun. I love I I can have fun driving. I need to drive CJ's Impala. I can feel the power. She has a 2019 Impala.
SPEAKER_01Okay. You need to take that bad boy for a spin. Because a car, especially a nice stable sedan that's not too long but not too short. It's that it's got some weight on it though. But you're not gonna worry about you know the whole tip over thing like with the SUV. It's fun. It's fun. Cars are fun. There's something nice about being in an SUV, but there's something fun about being in this car. I had fun with the cord while I had I had that cord for 18 days, and that shit was a fucking blast. When I got back into my car, I was like, oh yeah, I can't do this anymore. Stay tuned next week when we will be discussing homecoming, which focuses on Charlie. SPEAKER_00They would I no no, I'm not gonna answer, but I'm saying they probably would have sh killed me off like the second episode.
SPEAKER_01Um I have another question, but I can't read it just yet, because it's a spoiler. Um, and then I I wrote down titles so that we can discuss some of our favorite titles from season one.
SPEAKER_00You know, we've this pointless conversation we've had for three hours.
SPEAKER_01Alright, I'm done.
SPEAKER_00I'm just looking at the time. I'm like, that's fucking crazy.
