SPEAKER_01

Hi and welcome to Sass Sips, the podcast where we watch and re-watch and drink and dish and sip and sass. I'm Lisa, and today I am drinking. I brought the bottle.

SPEAKER_00

The whole bottle. No glasses needed for you.

SPEAKER_01

I have a glass too, but I did bring the bottle. Arabella. And it is the Cabernet Sauvignon. And this is number five out of six bottles. So oh my gosh, we're almost, we are almost done. Okay, let me pour.

SPEAKER_00

And I feel like it's been a winning situation thus far for you.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Yeah. The only there was one so far that was my least favorite.

SPEAKER_00

And even still it was it was still drinkable.

SPEAKER_01

It was still good. Yeah. Okay. Introduce yourself while I do my sniffs and my sips and pretend like I know what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'm your co-host, Agnes, and I'm still um post-op recovery. So I'm drinking pre-Jesus juice. AKA water.

SPEAKER_01

I'm drinking pre-wine.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, Lisa, where are we at? How did it smell?

SPEAKER_01

It smelled like wine. Oh man. Is in living color on any streaming service? I don't know. We must find out. I need to go do a rewatch. Okay. No, it it smells like wine. I don't I don't know what the fuck it smells like.

SPEAKER_00

But you have you were pretty good. The lads are like, oh, it smells something smells fruity. Like you like you. Yeah, and then you're like, yeah, because it's made with fruit. Like, no shit, Sherla. I know that. Grapes, to be exact. And then one time you're like, I smell citrus. Like you were doing your damn thing. Okay, all right. This one smells sweeter.

SPEAKER_01

And it tastes a little sweeter.

SPEAKER_00

Nice, nice.

SPEAKER_01

And even though I'm not a a big fan of the sweeter wines, I could I could see myself buying another bottle of this.

SPEAKER_00

Nice, nice, nice, nice, nice. Good job, wine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's not as dry as I usually like, but it's good. Is good. We'll drink. It's good. We'll drink. Pour more. Pour more. I will. I will when I'm done.

SPEAKER_00

No, she's not gonna pour. She's just gonna take it straight to the head.

SPEAKER_01

I was going to do that, but then I said, you know what? Like, I mean, I am a certified food handler, so I know actually about bacteria. I've been certified by the UN New York State Department of Mental Health and Hygiene, actually.

SPEAKER_00

But it's just a great backwash, but does it make a difference? Honestly, that's a general question. It's a legit question.

SPEAKER_01

It does, but it doesn't. So depending on when you go to drink out of the bottle, well, drink the wine next, your bacteria can multiply in the bottle.

SPEAKER_00

So Gotcha.

SPEAKER_01

It's not like, oh, I skeeve it or something.

SPEAKER_00

It's just if I don't if I don't drink it quick enough, then if you don't finish this bottle during this recording.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Or later.

SPEAKER_00

So in this record. Later on during this recording.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So there goes your thank you for coming to Lisa's food safety corner. And now we shall talk about Lost, Season 6, Episode 6, Sundown. Give me your hot takes. Give me them. Give me them. Give me them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god, I saw it a long time ago. It's like a whole, like, I don't know. More like 24 hours ago. Um okay. Let's see. No hot takes. No holy shit moments. Just like, okay, I enjoyed it. It was a good episode. I'm enjoying season six. Finally. I'm enjoying the I think that is the hot take.

SPEAKER_01

That is the hot take. I'm enjoying. Enjoying. I can't.

SPEAKER_00

I've said that. I'm I've said that the last few seasons, to be fair. I haven't been a complete cremgeon against Lost the last couple of seasons.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, the last couple of seasons.

SPEAKER_00

Shut up.

SPEAKER_01

We made it. We have made it. The body made it. Woo-hoo! She's like, the closer this gets to being over, the more and more I'm enjoying it. That may have something to do with it.

SPEAKER_00

And it's funny how like all like the die hard losties doing the airing weren't too happy, like towards the end. And that's when I was like, okay, this is the only time I can tolerate it. So definitely not a lossy. I'm not a lossy fan.

SPEAKER_01

But you're here sticking with it. Because I'm not no quitter.

SPEAKER_00

All right. I'm a bitcher and a moaner, but I'm not a quitter. Ready? As ready as I'm ever gonna be in life. Not saying that much. Bar's low.

SPEAKER_01

The episode opens on Said arriving at a house. And who comes to the door? Nadia. He greets her with flowers. Two kids come running out, but then they're like, oh, Uncle Saeed, we missed you. And you're like, wait, that's not his wife. Or is it? Are those his kids? Why are they calling him Uncle? But it's okay because Lost has just given us the answers five seconds later. It's his brother's wife. It's his brother's house. Those are actually his niece and nephew. They have dinner. The kids are like, oh, but what'd you bring us? Because that's all they fucking care about. They're kids.

SPEAKER_00

And I co-sign that. Yeah. Because nine times out of ten, that's what I want to say to people, but I it's that's socially acceptable.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, when you're an adult, you can't ask for shit.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I love it.

SPEAKER_01

And that's when we need shit. Say tells him to go look in his bag for their for their gifts. And the kids come running back and they're like, we found our gifts. Also, we found a picture of mom. Oops. The brother had excused himself to take a phone call, so that's when this is all happening. And as But he did hear that. Oh yeah, no, he heard. And he saw Nadia sitting there with the picture. And then it's like, what? You're like, oh no, what's gonna happen? But don't worry, because what's gonna happen is that the scene is gonna cut and we're gonna be in the temple. Saeed is like on his way. He's a man with the mission. He's on his way to see Dogen and he wants answers. First, he wants to start with the machine. Dogan says that the machine basically determines good and evil, it's a scale, and Saeed tipped it the wrong way. And also, since he tipped it the wrong way, it'd be better if he was dead, you know, as one does.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, not a bad choice to make, evil go, good stay, you know, in theory, not a bad plan to have.

SPEAKER_01

Saeed says, You think you know me, but you don't. And I'm like, when did MTV Cribs get to the temple? Because that's all I hear every time I hear that phrase, it's all I can think about. Okay. He starts to tell Dogen, if you think that you're gonna kill me, but before he could even pretty much finish his statement, Dogan is like, oh motherfucker, you didn't know I was a ninja, and he kicks his ass.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, maybe it's just me being culturally insensitive. But I kind of assumed he was a badass ninja to begin with. He gives off badass ninja vibes.

SPEAKER_01

The man runs a temple on a mysterious island. He speaks only I think Japanese to his constituents. Except that he knows what the fuck you're saying. He understands and speaks perfectly well. He just refuses to do it because he's cool like that. Madass ninja vibes. Right, right. He's a motherfucking ninja. Okay, also, I'm not like action movies don't necessarily draw me. If you give me a choice, do you want to see an action movie, a comedy, or a thriller, I'm leaning towards comedy or thriller. This fight scene though, that was so cool. I mean, the choreography was really cool, it was just really well done. Why are you looking at me like that? Cause it was okay for a TV show. For a TV show, right?

SPEAKER_00

That's the kind of thing you expect to see in a movie. Like in an Not quite movie level, because I watch action. I know, but so I'm like, it was good.

SPEAKER_01

It was it was But for a TV show, it hadn't had a movie, uh Mission Impossible budget. It was a pretty it was a it was a good scene for a TV show. You are just a hater, you don't like this show, and you just cannot admit that it was something good.

SPEAKER_00

Torturer versus the ninja. It was good for a TV show. I agreed with you. I agreed. I wasn't wowed over it.

SPEAKER_01

You're giving one of those like women hating man compliments, you know? Like I I don't I can't even think of one, but women know what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, okay, so like it was good for a TV show. I wasn't gonna wow over it, but I was like, oh, that was a good one. It it wasn't wow-worthy, but it was it was impressive. As an action watcher, I guess. I have a different bar.

SPEAKER_01

Anyhow, as they're fighting, Dogan gets the upper hand, but the baseball falls. The baseball that we saw him playing with in um previous episode. Dogan notices and he just kind of stops and tells Saeed, go and never come back. And you know, lets him leave. Meanwhile, outside the temple somewhere, fake John is encouraging Claire to go cross the ash and go inside the temple. And Claire's like, You're gonna hurt them, aren't you? And he's like, only the ones who don't listen. Back in the flash sideways, Saeed's brother is having business trouble, so you know, he wakes Said up in the middle of the night to ask for help. The way only a torturer can help. And then he uses his love for Saeed as for uh Nadia as motivation. Like you won't want anything to happen to her now, would you, asshole? Said says he's not that man anymore. Back on the island, he informs Miles that he's leaving because he's been banished and thinks it's ironic that they want him dead after they saved him. But Miles says, actually, you were dead for two hours, and whatever brought you back, it wasn't them. Just then Claire arrives and says that he wants to see Dogen. He meaning fake lock.

SPEAKER_00

Man in black.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Knowing that he'll be killed, Dogen says he wants to send someone who won't be, such as Jack or Hurley, except that, oh no, they can't be found. So Dogan changes his mind about Saeed. He's like, just kidding, you don't have to leave. Just kidding. I have a job for you. He tells Dogan tells Saeed that Claire is a confused girl under the influence of an angry man, that for years he's been trapped, but now he's free, that Jacob is dead. He wants to kill every living thing on this island. He is evil incarnate. Dogan says he will come to Saeed as someone he knows, and that he wants Saeed to kill him on site. So obviously, prove you're a good person by committing murder. That's not about right. You know, does don't all good people just prove how good they are by killing other people? Don't they? I mean, I know I have. I mean, my god, just yesterday I killed like 14. Seriously, I'm such a good person.

SPEAKER_00

We are like solid earth. Yeah. As we season the earth with dead bodies. Salty. And how else am I gonna get the blood of my enemies to make my skin look youthful?

SPEAKER_01

No, you know, and people look at you, they're gonna start thinking, oh wait.

SPEAKER_00

Wait. Okay, people who actually know me like real life IRL, yeah. No, that's just makeup skills.

SPEAKER_01

I've woken up next to you. It's not makeup skills, but anyway.

SPEAKER_00

You love me. You're just saying that because you love me.

SPEAKER_01

I'm saying that because I love you.

SPEAKER_00

Because you also she also wears glasses, so there's that.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I don't first of all, I only wear glasses sometimes to read or stare at the computer. I can see perfectly well. I have 2020 vision and I paid hefty for it, okay? Thank you, Lacey.

SPEAKER_00

Did you that's a good point? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's I don't wear glasses for like this. I did 20 fucking years ago.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and okay, okay, okay. I'm trying to be self-deprecating, but you know, yeah, and I proved it wrong. Yeah, you did. You totally did, but I love you anyway. I love you. Love you too.

SPEAKER_01

Back in the flash sideways, Saeed is putting the kiddos on the school bus as Nadia runs out. Omar had an emergency, they go to the hospital, and who walks by? I wonder how much he got paid for that scene. All you all the only thing that Jack did in this scene was walk through the hospital hallway for what 0.25 seconds enough to be like, oh, that's Jack in the hospital.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they get paid per episode, and if their name is in the credit, even if they're not in the episode, they still get paid for it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, for real? I think they actually had to like show up.

SPEAKER_00

No, if you're not gonna be able to do it because the because the the credits, uh when you're a main cast member, I thought credits were just kind of like a standing um thing, and that if you don't actually act like you get like the sag aft after okay, but he's a main cast, he is a main cast, but he acted 600 other ep scenes, you know, union pay rate per episode, like but you actually have to be in it, not like for example, brother, what's his name? Brother, the one who always says brother, the man, Desmond. He's not a main cast member. Well, he is now, I think, or or he was. But he's still in the credits, or he still gets paid. I want that job. Yeah, because I listened to podcasts about, you know, a put another show. Oh, right, right. And they would like, you know, they're just and they're like, he was like, oh yeah, it was a fucking amazing uh to get paid, I don't have to work for the episode. I didn't have to work that way. We can still get it paid. Like for different like um characters that might not be on the episode. They're like, yeah, that was amazing. Back to they run to the hospital. Mm-hmm. You get a Omar has cameo.

SPEAKER_01

Omar has a punctured lung, and Nadia says to Said, not to do bad things. I know you, Said, don't do bad things. Just go home and wait for the kids.

SPEAKER_00

They're no fun.

SPEAKER_01

Back at the temple, Said comes across Kate as he's leaving. He confuses her and then continues on his way. When she goes inside, she sees Miles, and Miles is like, So you're sending you packing, huh? He's like, Yeah, I thought about going after him too, but I figured, you know, after he berates you enough, you're just gonna leave. And pretty much exactly what happened.

SPEAKER_00

Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Miles fills Kate in on what's been happening back at the temple. Apparently, it's pretty much a circus. And also Claire is back. She's weird, but still hot. Because that's what one worries about when on this island, in this temple, in this circus. Miles obviously has his priority straight.

SPEAKER_00

Honestly, if I think if I was like stuck in a similar situation, eventually, you know, hormones are gonna be like, oh, I hit that. I think of like just human nature, you know. I'm sure it'll pop up eventually, you know. I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Outside the temple in the jungle, Said stops to drink from his little canteen and the wind, whatever, but actually it's fake Locke. So he stabs him, but it doesn't work out so well. Locke pulls the light, the knife out, and it's like, here, you want this back? He left it in my chest. He's like, Why would you now why would you go and do that for? Like, it was just like I was. Terry O'Quinn is just perfect. And and and how he portrays not just Locke, but the fake Locke.

SPEAKER_00

It's a it's his delivery isn't. I find that's one of the reasons I kind of love Terry O'Quinn, because of other characters he played were more in line of the man in black, Locke. Like other characters of TV shows, a little bit more domineering, slightly evil, maybe not evil, but just you know, a man of power. So and watching him like at the beginning, first couple of seasons, is totally not that character. I think I loved him even more that he was able to like the oh, the typical characters, yes, the typical characters is the reason I love them. I'm like, huh, come here. But um the versatility part. I'm like, okay, that now, now I'm totally fangrowing.

SPEAKER_01

We know.

SPEAKER_00

See, Lost had a positive had a positive influence on me.

SPEAKER_01

You got a little shout out from Terry O'Quinn. I did, I totally did, and that was like what, three years ago, and I'm still like, eek. I think, yeah, maybe even more. And we, I mean, I don't know if you guys listening, if you've listened from the beginning, but we even had an interview with Andrea Gabriel who played Nadia, and she she really is like such a lovely person that she took the time to do this with us.

SPEAKER_00

Lisa's so cool. I mean my co-host is such a badass.

SPEAKER_01

Well, somebody quit on me, and I, you know, I was desperate. I mean Andrea Gabriel answered the call.

SPEAKER_00

I think you did much, much better with her. That was a win. So the person who quit on you did you a solid. I wouldn't go that far.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway. Fake lock.

SPEAKER_00

You don't know what she's talking about me. Does it keep don't know? It's me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. There's no, there's no behind the back shade. It's right there. No, it's face-to-face shade. Fake lock tells Saeed that he's been set up. And Saeed wants to know what he wants since he hasn't killed him. And he's like, Well, I'll make you a deal you can't refuse. What do you want to do what I want you to do? And Saeed says that the only thing he wants died in his arms.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like so Dugan, Dugan, Dugan, Dugan Howser.

SPEAKER_01

Um Ninja Man. Tumble Ninja.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so yeah, he tried, you know, he's getting other people to try to kill Saeed, and he, you know, Said keeps falling for it, whatever the case might be.

SPEAKER_01

Well, but that's exactly what Locke or Fake Locke did to Ben, except Ben didn't know it was fake Locke. Right.

SPEAKER_00

But I kind of feel like I dated people like that. The gaslighting, the like to set you up to fuck yourself over. Yeah, I think I've dated a few of those.

SPEAKER_01

Now, if they have ninja moves like that in bed, it might have been worth it. A couple of them did. Alright. Question. Said says the only thing he wants died in his arms. You did you catch the reference? Um, yeah. Explain.

SPEAKER_00

Didn't Nadia and when they not the sideways, but Nadia died in got hit by a car and died in his arms. Yes, that is true. Okay. Okay. I feel like that was a trick question that I was gonna fail. Oh, maybe it is. I quit. I quit.

SPEAKER_01

Back in the flash sideways, Nadia walks in, Said's fixing a vase, and Omar is recovering. But she's like, Don't fix this, that's his problem. Also, why don't you? Want me? Said says that he doesn't deserve her and that he's been trying to wash his hands for 12 years. Back at the temple. It sounds so much more like tennis, you know, ping-pong back and forth when I read. But when you watch, it doesn't feel like that. Smooth.

SPEAKER_00

It was very smooth. And I I personally don't mind listening to it ping-ponging. But you just watch the episode. Well, that too. Yeah. But also, our listeners who are watching with us or watching the past, your brain is used to the back and forth. That's true. So I feel like if you watch the show or know of the show, it makes sense going back and forth. When you do it, sometimes when you do it like linear, it's confuses me.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Back at the temple, Said comes back with the message. Jacob is dead, and that because he's gone, none of them have to stay. They're all free. And paraphrasing.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty good paraphrasing. I have to say so myself.

SPEAKER_01

And that I don't, I did voice to text and it says the melody med. I don't know what that's supposed to be. But basically, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be the man in black. I don't know. My my phone just refuses to hear me. Is leaving the island, and anyone who wants to join can go with him, and the deadline is sundown. And if you don't, death. Got it. Meanwhile, in another part of the temple, Lennon is getting bullied by Kate because she's looking for Claire. And Claire's in a hole waiting for the lotion in the basket. Kate tells Claire about Aaron.

SPEAKER_00

The lotion in the basket.

SPEAKER_01

Did you not think of Silence of the Lambs? Totally did. Totally did.

SPEAKER_00

Late rate Hanna Balletta. And I and I oh god. And I also had like flashbacks of conversations about you putting me in your basement.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, I know it was perfect. Yeah. Right. I'm not gonna give you lotion. I'm gonna give you tacos. Don't worry. It's gonna be better. Way better. Thank you. And margaritas. Thank you. Hello. I make a pretty decent margarita if I do say so. I even dry out the oranges to do like the garnish on top. Oh my god, Lisa. I will take care of you in your hole in the basement.

SPEAKER_00

Please kidnap me, Lisa.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm coming. I'm coming. Anyone who wants to help kidnap Agnes, text the show.

SPEAKER_00

Also, I gotta tell you, my hole needs to be really cozy, comfy. I'm a little bougie. Actually, I'm a lot bougie. Can I get to some decor? And you know, it needs to be cozy comfy. That's fine. That's cool. I love that. You want like an armchair, a pillow, a throw pillow?

SPEAKER_01

I can't maybe a picture to hang on the cave wall.

SPEAKER_00

Mirror. I need home sweet hole. I need whole sweet hole. Because, you know, I need, oh, I need a mirror and I need my makeup. All right. And then for dinner, we'll take turns cooking dinner and baking and cooking.

SPEAKER_01

Hold on. We we gotta pause this recording. I'm on my way. You mean so they will have dinner ready when I come back from PT?

SPEAKER_00

Awesome. He goes, wait, if I didn't want to kidnap her before, I definitely want to do it now. Okay, where were we? Oh, right, because yeah, um, Kate was yes, trying to go find Claire. Uh-huh. In her home.

SPEAKER_01

She tells, yeah, she tells Claire about Aaron, and Kate, um, Claire has a look on her face like, oh, I got you. Okay, I got you. Meanwhile, as Maz exit is from the temple, Miles is confused. What else is new? And Saeed plans to return the knife. Back in Flash Sideways, Saeed is confronted by goons who want to cook him eggs. And who do we see in the kitchen? Kimi. Do you remember Kimi?

SPEAKER_00

I shouldn't know him, but I don't know him, but I feel like I should. It wasn't coming to my freighter. Kimi is the one on the freighter with the bomb on his arm.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, got it. And the goons were also his goons. Yes. Kimi is explaining with a mouthful of fucking eggs the loan and the business and the do's and the this and the that and the you owe me, and I'm a bad guy, but I'm not a bad guy. But Saeed gets tired of his shit and does his own ninja moves, and pew, pew, pew, they're all dead. Next we hear that.

SPEAKER_00

Kimmy at first was like, we're good, we're straight, we're good. Yeah, he walked it back real fast.

SPEAKER_01

You're so tough. Yeah. He's like, that's okay.

SPEAKER_00

I knew a couple chicks that were that way too. They want to find out. Most people want to find out. Okay. And then bang, bang, bang.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Said's gonna investigate. And what do we see? Jinn tied to a chair. Cursing the fuck out and uh Korean. No English, but no English, Jinn. He's like speaking in Korean and um and no English.

SPEAKER_00

Isn't the last time we saw him in this parallel world, son completely let him be taken away at the airport? Right, they were at the airport. Right, and she was like, Oh, yeah, I don't know nothing.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But remember, this is the flash sideways. Do we know if she actually speaks English in the flash sideways?

SPEAKER_00

We don't. I feel like, oh, that's a good point. But in my head, I think it's funnier that the fact that she was like, yeah, no. I just I feel like for some reason it was just unsaid. It gave you the impression that she was just like, This is my time, this is my this is this is my chance. For whatever reason. But that was the last time we saw him in this parallel world. Correct. She let him just so what happened to Son? How did he get from airport security to the fucking freezer? The world we never know. And knowing loss, we still may not know.

SPEAKER_01

But okay, continue. At the temple, Saeed confronts former banker Dogin, and he tells him the story of a drunk car accident that brought him to the island in exchange for saving his son. Before Dogin could finish with his pity party, they fly into the pool and Saeed drowns him. Lennon comes running in like, what did you just do? And then he has his best Dwight from the office moment. He's like, Idiot! The only thing keeping them out was him. And now you just left them, let them in. And Said says, slits Lennon's throat and says, I know I know.

SPEAKER_00

Dun dun dun.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. What happens next is just chaos. Kate and Miles run. The smoke monster is super hangry. Kate wants to get Claire. Lossies 1.5 show up. Said scares Ben. Miles asks son about Jen. Also, I think that's the first time that they've ever met. Ilana has the plan, finds a secret door, and then Saeed and Claire join fake lock after the massacre, along with a bunch of others. He sees Kate, which it it kind of even looks like they were a little like surprised to see each other. Mm-hmm. After episode thoughts before we do trivia and notes.

SPEAKER_00

No thoughts. This is par for the course for Agnes.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

In case it's your first time listening.

SPEAKER_01

Which is weird, but episode season six, episode six. Okay. I mean start.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe this is their favorite episode of the whole series. That's true. Just go to my favorite episode. So the Okay, not having a thought is on brand. Very much so.

SPEAKER_01

Here we go. With this episode, Saeed becomes the third character to have a flashback episode, a flash forward episode, and a flash sideways episode centered solely around him. Oh, he's others. The others are Kate and Jack.

SPEAKER_00

No shit.

SPEAKER_01

Omar is the first character to be killed on screen in the Flash Sideways timeline and to have also died in the original timeline. Omar being Kimi's Omar, not Saeed's Omar. Omar Omar.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

Kimi is wearing the Rolex that Jin was supposed to deliver.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, interesting. I did not catch that.

SPEAKER_01

Miles is the first regular character who time traveled to re-encounter the others in the present, meaning Lapidas, Ben, and Son, who were not on the island when it moved. Okay. You understood what I said? Unfortunately, I did. And that's what has been concerned.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

This episode was the second of two to contain the word sun, the middle section survivor who appeared in both episodes. However, unlike the previous episode, House of the Rising Sun, this episode is not sun-centric. Fool dew, fool dew. This is the first season six episode to break the centricity pattern mirroring season one. Said's first flashback was in episode one, uh, season one, episode nine, solitary. And in this episode, season six, episode six, he refle he receives his first flash sideways, which is exactly 100 episodes later. In the flash sideways, Nadia is married to Saeed's brother Omar, and Saeed still holds a strong affection for her, but believes he doesn't deserve her. Dogen tells Said that the price for saving his son's life was that he could never see him again. Where have we heard this before? This is similar to Juliet's deal, in which she came to the island to find a cure for her sister's cancer, but was unable to leave the island afterwards. And by contrast, the man in black offers Said the opportunity to not only bring the woman he lost back from the dead, but to be with her again.

SPEAKER_00

Well, did he actually promise to bring her back or that they'd be together?

SPEAKER_01

I guess that's a good point. A cultural reference. The hieroglyph tile on the wall in the temple hallway is an ancient Egyptian symbol of eternity and protection. In ancient Egypt, the Shen ring also represents dual concepts of time. The cyclic line of period periodicity. My god, I don't even know if I could say that when I haven't been drinking. And lineal time. Said was asked by Dogen to kill the man in black by stabbing him through the chest with a knife. The exact same way that Ben killed Jacob. Except that the man in black did not die from this attack. Both Dogen and Lenin were killed in a spring that has healing properties, which is kind of ironic. Ironic. Oh, look at you paying attention. See? See, I do lay attention to once in the blue moon. In both timelines, Saeed is asked to kill another person. In the flash sideways, he refuses but is forced to do it. While on the island, he agrees to do it but is unable. In the flash sideways, he couldn't be with Nadia because of his own guilt over being a bad person, but on the island, Said kills Dogen in fulfillment of his bargain with the man in black so that he can be with her again. Said states that the only thing he ever wanted died in his arms. The episode context indicates this is most likely Nadia, who died in his arms after being hit by a car in Los Angeles. On the other hand, let's not forget that Shannon also died in his arms. Um yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I'm still saying I'm still thinking it's Nadia.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. A big question after watching this episode is how did Dogen's death enable the man in black to enter the temple? I know you don't have an answer.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, do you? No. Let's do this. I'm gonna talk it out. I'm gonna talk it out. I'm gonna talk it out. Walk it out. Walk it out. Okay. Um completely sidetracked. Okay, so obviously, whatever, because Dogen was sent there to put like that was his job. Jacob had him come back to help protect as a gatekeeper, the lighthouse, or whatever, to protect the island. So obviously, after Jacob died, and Dogen was like the last I don't know, lock on the door, him dying made that ash they put null and void. There's nothing else, there's no, I don't want to say lack of better term, no power behind that ash. So him dying unlocked the last lock in the deja vu. This whole situation is deja vu. I feel like we've been here before.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe we have been. Maybe we have been in another lost timeline. Maybe this is our flash sideways.

SPEAKER_00

Um, I think that's what it was. Him dying was the last protection. Now I'm going back to sleep. I've had a lot of brain power being used today and no alcohol. So I'm a little offended. Okay, I'm a lot offended. Okay. I'm a lot offended.

SPEAKER_01

Let's yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Let's be real.

SPEAKER_01

The next episode is Dr. Linus.

SPEAKER_00

I think you're gonna say Doctor Who. I don't know. No. Dr. Lecter. Doctor Dr. Stop promising stop don't threaten me with a good time.

SPEAKER_01

The nice Keontae. Anyhow, Dr. Linus, next episode. Anything else before we close this out? No, I think I'm good. Okay. Ish. Also, we are going to insert a shameless plug here. SPEAKER_00

We've been gone.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my timeline. And to also have died in the original timeline. Wait, what does this mean?

SPEAKER_00

I was just like, you froze again, so I have no idea what fuck me. Maybe later. I am actually really hungry, and I hate you because my Chinese restaurant's not open yet, because I'm an hour behind you. Boo hoo.

SPEAKER_01

You always fucking eat while we record, and I have to read the synopsis and watch you fucking stuff your face when I try to. I think you're being hungry. I don't care. It's always just always something. It's just food. I want food. I'm not, you know, I don't discriminate.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, you know, okay. The problem is I'm not an evil person, you guys. I'm not always eating. It's like I might I normally wake up at like 4 30, 5 o'clock in the morning. By time we're recording, that's like by lunchtime. Like, I'm hungry. It's not my fault. It is your fault. And you just wait until you're and that's why you're frozen again. I can't hear your threats. I hope you can hear this.

SPEAKER_01

My food. By the way, um you're froze.

SPEAKER_00

So your threats your your threat mean nothing to me. I heard nothing.

SPEAKER_01

That's fine. All the all the better when I surprise you with it.
