LOST The Long Con
"Ain't that just like a woman? She keeps the house, you get the cheap-ass apartment. Man, I thought these people hated me, but I gotta hand it to you... Stealing a baby, trying to drown it, now that's a new low. You even made Locke take a swing at you. Hell, that's like getting Ghandi to beat his kids." - James "Sawyer" Ford

Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips, where every episode we will be discussing and dissecting an episode of Lost in Order while we drink. And today's episode is the long con. We are your host. I'm Lisa.
SPEAKER_00And I'm an Agnes.
SPEAKER_01What are you drinking today?
SPEAKER_00Do you want to take a guess?
SPEAKER_01Oh, you have your special coffee?
SPEAKER_00I do.
SPEAKER_01I do too.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you know, you got me working the ass crack of dawn. No. I'm exaggerating. But you know, living the life that I live, you know, noon is the ass crack of dawn. Let me stop.
SPEAKER_01Any preliminary thoughts about the episode before we dive in?
SPEAKER_00I am so excited to see this one. I got what I wanted. I got what I want. I got what I wanted. It doesn't happen that often. Someone takes a lot of things.
SPEAKER_01Sawyer episodes are usually good.
SPEAKER_00Usually. He's three for three, dude. Alright.
SPEAKER_01Okie dokie then. My like my favorite flashbacks overall are Sawyer, Curly, and Locke. And then I would say Kate and Jack. Only because Jack, Jack's flashback, it's like you never know what you're gonna get.
SPEAKER_00True. Hurley episode. While I like Hurley as a character, his ep his flashbacks are kind of like, okay, it's good, explains some stuff, but it isn't it's not fun for me. I like Hurley, but like his flashbacks. And you know how I feel about Loc. Hi Terry. Hi.
SPEAKER_01And that's the other thing about Locke is like you just never know what you're gonna get with one of his flashbacks.
SPEAKER_00Life is like a box of chocolates. What are you doing?
SPEAKER_01Let's get into the flashbacks. Let's get into it. Sawyer. Yeah. Sawyer lies in a hotel room bed with the beautiful Cassidy. Sawyer attempts to perform the same trick he performed on Jessica, except when the briefcase opens this time, Cassidy doesn't bite. She doesn't believe the coincidence, and also notices that the money is fake. She chides him for a clumsy attempt and informs him that she didn't get any money from the divorce. Sawyer offers to leave, no harm, no foul, but Cassidy would rather he stayed. She wants to learn the con. Sawyer stands outside a gas station, fixing bogus price tags to junk jewelry, while explaining the con once again to Cassidy, who will be acting as a shill. They'll be looking at the price tags rather than the jewelry, and at the bandage on his nose rather than his face. Soon the con is on. Sawyer approaches two men, Arthur and Peter. How did you like did they even say their names in the show? Like, how do we even know this? If it wasn't for like Wik w uh Lost Wiki. It says the the guys that he approached at the gas station.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that was just kind of Arthur and Peter.
SPEAKER_01Oh okay.
SPEAKER_00The you know what? I will look on um IDM uh I can't even speak with Lost Yes. And see if the characters will even get given names.
SPEAKER_01Uh he offers them the necklaces, all priced over a thousand dollars on the tags, at a hundred dollars apiece. The men are skeptical. But Cassidy walks up from the other side and buys two without hesitation. This encourages the men and fools sorry. This encourages the men and the fools and their money are soon parted. Cassidy is taking a shower while Sawyer brushes his teeth. She wants to know what their next play is. Sawyer suggests the pigeon drop. Cassidy counters that they've already done the pigeon drop along with the Tulsa bag scam and the looky loo. She wants to play a big con. Sawyer corrects her jargon and explains that a long con is when you convince someone to ask you a favor like it was their idea. The problem is that a long con takes a lot of startup capital. Cassidy admits that she lied when she told Sawyer she got nothing from the divorce and that she actually has six hundred thousand dollars.
SPEAKER_00So what was the guy's name? Peter and Arthur. They actually credited an idea as Peter and Arthur. But unless you go through and do your research, right? No, their names would never be. Even Vincent is credited in the episode. Like he's uncleaned, but he's still in the episode. Like it's funny. He's like part of the cast. I love that. But anyway, so completely random. Thank you. My little bit of Miranda information.
SPEAKER_01If anybody has six hundred thousand dollars that they don't need, um I'm I need it. So just FYI. I I actually I just need like sixty. Just sixty would be good. Sixty thousand. If anybody has that they don't need it. Just I'll I'll give you my email address. PayPal work.
SPEAKER_00Cash app.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Alright. Sawyer seems reluctant but willing to consider the idea. So Cassidy drags him into the bedroom to sway him. Sawyer sits at a diner and places an order with Diane Jensen, Kate's mother. Did you catch that?
SPEAKER_00Oh like Kate's mom! Yeah, I think hi Kate's mom. Yeah. And this is like the the friend from next door. Yeah. That goes, hi Kate's mom.
SPEAKER_01But this also is good because it it kind of gives you a timeline. Because remember that um we we ended up seeing her dying of cancer, so clearly this is a while ago.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Another example of how everyone's like connected is because like what the first of all, you're connected not only in Australia, but you're all connected in your own home country. Like, get the fuck out of here, and you all die together in the place.
SPEAKER_01But it makes things like in your everyday life, you know. Like if you get on a plane, you know, just just to use an example from Los, you get on a plane, how many of these people have you crossed paths with before? Even if it's not directly, but like you sat at a diner where their mom works, or you know, you just you have no idea. Because, you know, it's uh it's always one of those things where it's like it's a small world.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I guess that makes sense. I guess. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Sawyer is soon joined by Gordy, who asks how the long con on Cassidy is going. Gordy scouted Cassidy out as a mark and feels that it's time for payday. He says Sawyer is too close, is getting too close to the girl and thinks that he's falling in love. Sawyer wants to call off the job, but Gordy threatens to kill both Sawyer and Cassidy. Cassidy waits at home with a briefcase full of money on the table. Sawyer walks in agitated. He points out a black car across the street and tells Cassidy that his partner Gordy is in it waiting for the money. She says No. He She was the long con all along, and if he doesn't walk out there with the money, Gordy will kill them both. Sawyer takes the money out of the briefcase and puts it into a duffel bag. He tells her that Gordy is only here because he refused to take her money. Instead, he proposes that she take the money and run to a motel, the Sage Flower Motel off Highway 29 in Sioux City. He'll take care of Gordy and either way she'll be safe. Then he hands her a duffel bag and pushes her out the door with proclamations of love. Cassidy leaves. Sawyer walks out the front door of Cassidy's house and sits in the passenger seat of the black car. There's no one else in it. He starts counting Mississippi's. Once he's satisfied that enough time has passed, Sawyer walks back into the house and pulls a second duffel bag out from under the table. This bag actually has the money. On his way out, he notices a picture of Cassidy in him and sets it on his face. And sets it on its face. Oh, you knew? No.
SPEAKER_00You didn't think that it was actually like because when when she's first talking about I want to do more, and he's like, You're not ready for more. I was like, She's a long con. Like, I was like, oh, she's a long con. So I knew from the beginning he was going to con her. He was gonna like he may have had a second of doubt, but I knew he was going to finish the con. He was going to finish the con. Period. So I didn't know how it was gonna flip, but I knew. Yeah. I knew it was gonna happen. Sorry, Casty.
SPEAKER_01On the island, inside the hatch, Jack and Locke open the gun vault. Jack enters, opens the Halliburton case, and removes the guns. Along with the weapons, the vault also contains the seven Virgin Mary statues that Locke confiscated from Charlie. Locke's left the heroine in the statue because he's too self-admittedly superstitious to break open seven religious icons.
SPEAKER_00I don't blame you. Girl, same. Like I'm not religious, I am spiritual, but I wouldn't dare break a religious statue. Listen, I'm with you. Hi Terry.
SPEAKER_01I totally locked gives Jack the combination to the gun vault and then suggests that Jack might consider keeping the medicine in there as well. It seems that Sawyer has returned to his pack rat ways. On the beach, Sawyer taunts Charlie for getting kicked out of Claire's tent. Charlie replies that Sawyer should be more concerned with his own tent, which at the moment is being ransacked by Jack. Sawyer walks up for a confrontation as Jack finds a prescription bottle. Jack accuses Sawyer of stealing the meds from the hatch. Sawyer says he was simply reclaiming stolen property as the meds were in his stash when he left on the raft. The two tow up for a fight, Sawyer threatening Jack, but Jack takes the meds and walks away. Not for nothing though. But Sawyer left on the raft. So what good were they doing in his tent? It's not like it's not like somebody went in your actual house and took your shit.
SPEAKER_00I mean this is This was okay, to be fair, this was their this was their house, quote unquote, on the island. And then the flip side, he left to find help never to return to this island ever again. Right. So I kind of feel like Sawyer didn't think it was gonna work.
SPEAKER_01Maybe. But at the same time, you can't blame Jack for taking medicine that could do everyone else. Because there's no it's not like there's a pharmacy, there's no Dwayne Reed on the corner.
SPEAKER_00Like although there might be a Walgreens. Let me stop. Um I or Rite Aid, you know. I miss right aid. I really do. I don't like Walgreens. And it's nothing but here, it's nothing here but Walgreens. I miss Rite Aid, I miss Dwayne Reed. Anyway, but um was gonna say. No, he was kind of he was a little I think he was em I don't think he was thinking logically. I think his feelings were hurt. Yeah. I don't think he was being logical in his feelings. I'm saying he was right. I I think Jack was like he did, you know, it was logical. Jack was right. They're in the best situation, they're gonna go get us help, and then no one's and we're all gonna leave this. We'll all leave all this shit here. We're gonna be saved. That's best case. Worst case, you know, he ain't gonna need it anyway. Um, so I think, yeah, he has his own issues. So you has his own. Um I mean, he lived your life as a command, so you think everyone's gonna say something from you. And this is his, you know, um, yeah, that's him. His his uh what's the word I'm looking for? I hate this. His own demons rising up, like based on his his lifestyle.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And I'm done babbling.
SPEAKER_01As Sawyer puts his tent back together after Jack's ransacking, Kate enters to both tease him and give him a new woman's magazine. She's retrieved from the hatch to cheer him up. Sawyer isn't consoled because he lost his glasses on the raft. He asks Kate if she would read to him. Just as she begins reading, Locke walks by and greets them. This launches a conversation about the recent changes in group dynamics, such as Locke instead of Charlie sleeping next to Claire, and Jack and Anna Lucia's recent decision to form an army. This last bit is news to Kate, and Sawyer teases her, saying that maybe he isn't the only one on Outs with the Dock. In clearing away from the beach, Said oh, I'm sorry, in a clearing away from the beach, Said is stabbing coconuts on a stake in the ground. Hurley saunters over and makes a joke, but Saeed isn't in a laughing mood. Hurley quickly gets to the point. It seems that Bernard had a shortwave radio with which he could hear Boone's transmission from the beach craft, and Hurley has brought it to Said to see if he could boost the signal. Said is dubious about whether it's possible and if he would and if it would even be worthwhile. Hurley tells Saeed that it was really just a project to cheer him up and leaves the radio behind as he walks away. In the jungle, Anna Lucia and Jack discuss their difficulties recruiting for the army. Anna Lucia is under the impression that everyone is reluctant to fight because they feel too safe, but Jack disagrees. There may be other trust issues involved. She frowns at the sounds of distant thunder, but suddenly a bag falls over Sun's head and she's dragged backward into the bushes. Kate and Sawyer hear her screams through the pounding brain and find her unconscious in the jungle. Kate runs to get Jack while Sawyer carries Sun back to the beach.
SPEAKER_00It'll be moot. Since when this is at this point of my note-taking, I'm like, wait, since when they leave somebody? That was my first thought. Like they never leave a person. If they if the others take them, they're gone. So I'm like, hmm. Interesting.
SPEAKER_01Jack arrives at her tent seconds before a frantic djinn comes in. Sawyer reports that he found her unconscious in the jungle and her hands were tied. Anna Lucia proclaims that the others are back. John insists that they've made a truce, but Jack thinks they broke their word. Anna Lucia wants to arm up and comb the jungle, but Locke puts his foot down. He reminds Anna Lucia that it is more dangerous for them to give weapons to untrained people, and Jack agrees and says they should wait for what Sun will say about the attack, and then they'll plan something. At the scene of the crime, Kate and Sawyer are playing detective. Sawyer points out that the entire situation feels wrong. For example, how did Sun break free with her hands bound and while unconscious? And why are there tracks when the others don't leave any? They find a hood hanging from a branch, but Sawyer points out that it's a different hood than the one used on Kate. It's all in the details and they're wrong, he says. But who would have motivation to scare forty-six people unless they were trying to calm them into joining an army? Over at Sun and Jin's tent, Jack is reassuring Jin. Sun's pulse is strong. She needs to be watched, but she is going to be fine. Jack steps away to get some water and Kate is waiting for him. She asks him how well he knows Anna Lucia and hints around Sawyer's theory. Jack won't hear it and walk away. And walks away. Later on, however, as he's strolling down the beach with Anna Lucia, she mentions that people like Steve are suddenly more willing to join the army and Jack is forced to face a possibility. He asks her point blank where she was at the time of Sun's attack. As she questions his motivation for asking, Claire runs down the beach to tell Jack that Son has woken up. First of all, Anna Lucia makes the Scott Steve mistake. But how does she even know she wasn't there?
SPEAKER_00I don't okay. That I threw that was my same thing. And I was wondering, is it one of those things that okay? So I had a teacher, even though I had her for two semesters in a row, and I said it up front because I couldn't, I like I like sitting up front. And second semester, she would always call me Gladys. There was no Gladys in the class at all. That's not even close. Right, so and for whatever reason, the woman called me Gladys. So maybe it was Agnes, Gladys. I don't fucking know. Even though she I knew damn well she knew my name. Anyhow, I thought I was not looking at her like until she said my name right. Then I anyway. So is it maybe like one of those things like Scott Steve, Steve Scott? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01The only way that I could explain it, I mean, aside from the writers just putting in that joke because it's like the running thing, you know, Scott Steve. But unless, like unless when um like somebody else has said it and made and like in in speaking to her, and somebody else was like Steve. And then she said, Oh, you mean Scott or whatever. And then they're like, Oh, right. And so like it it it got into her subconscious and and she made a mistake. But even that's it.
SPEAKER_00Everybody everybody, everyone has called Scott Stee Steve Scott, everyone has done it over the past season of the year. Me neither was I don't know. I don't know. I think Scott's dead. Anyway, everyone has done it. So maybe, like you said, they're like, oh, ask Scott, you know. You know what I mean? It might have been like something like that.
SPEAKER_01Maybe so maybe so like that's the only way that I could rectify it in my own world.
SPEAKER_00But um but like you said, maybe it was just a an opportunity for the writers to throw in this joke, and who cares about how it it the logistics of it and the reality of it's just irrelevant. Like it's a joke, it's a running joke, let's run with it.
SPEAKER_01Right. At the 10, Sun wakes up to find herself in a double interrogation. One in English from Jack and one in Korean from Jin.
SPEAKER_00I feel so sorry for her. Like you like like you get like a batch over your head and you knocked out, and then you get like all this shit coming at you. Like, damn, Gina, give her a break.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you know what? I didn't even think about Sun before, but when we were talking about whose flashbacks we like, but I do like Sun's flashbacks also.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I do like hers too. I I like most of them. Some of them and I don't hate, I don't hate any of them. Either I love them or I'm indifferent. So yeah. We loved you all.
SPEAKER_01She doesn't remember anything, she didn't see who did it, and she doesn't know how many there were. Jen is satisfied that the others are responsible and demands a gun from Jack. Sawyer and Kate watch the entire exchange from the distance, and Kate realizes that the entire scenario is a setup so Anna Lucia can get her hands on the guns. She begs Sawyer to run ahead of she begs Sawyer to run ahead of the posse to the hatch and warn Locke that they're coming. Were you raising a hand?
SPEAKER_00Um no, I was just like, Oh yeah, what you call it? Jen's um gangster? He was like gh. Like I
SPEAKER_01what he was saying before he actually said gun i was like and oh we think oh i loved it and it's funny though because when you think about it like we haven't seen gin with a gun and on the island you might just think like oh like what does he know about it but he's probably one of the more qualified people to have a gun he might I don't know what he we still don't know exactly that was in his father-in-law right in the flashback that we've seen we haven't seen him with the gun we saw the other guy in the white suit with the gun and Jinn beat the hell out of the guy so that he wouldn't shoot him like so right so we don't know how like we don't know the extent of his job with his father-in-law intel it could have been a lot more he probably you know for all we know I think there's more there's more to dude and oh yeah we're gonna finish the fly finish the synopsis because I got a lot to say about Mr.
SPEAKER_00Jack.
SPEAKER_01Okay as always in the hatch Jack is searching through the books on the shelf to see if there's anything hidden in them. Sawyer tells him of the approaching mob and suggests that Locke change the combination. Locke is intrigued by the reason behind Sawyer's sudden heads up and Sawyer tells him that he's doing it because it will piss off Jack. Locke doesn't think it will stop them. He'd prefer to hide the guns elsewhere but can't leave the hatch unmanned. Locke pleads and finally Sawyer agrees to stay in the hatch and push the button Sawyer wakes up as the alarm sounds Jack and Jin enter and find Sawyer near the computer. Jack asks Sawyer where Locke is but Sawyer brushes off the question. He said he was about to get the high score on Donkey Kong Kong yeah Jack then opens the gun vault and finds that it's empty. He asks Sawyer where the guns are and Sawyer suggests he call the police. Sawyer then throws Jack the bottle of meds that started this confrontation. Jack starts to take the bait but Jin stops him. Back at the beach Locke sits apprehensively in front of a campfire. Jack approaches and accuses Locke of breaking their agreement Locke admits that he broke the agreement and gives the and gives his reason that there might be another accident he looked at Anna Lucia when he said that I saw that he then tells him the mistake he then tells him the mistake he made by teaching Michael how to shoot but Jack isn't inclined to listen. Just as things heat up three warning shots are fired into the air to everyone's alarm. Sawyer emerges from the shadow with with the rifle over his shoulder to Jack and Locke's surprise it is now apparent that Sawyer conned both Locke and Jack into giving him the weapons as well as con and Kate Sawyer then gives the following speech Best speech ever like the the the the pain behind the ag no the feeling behind it. I'm sorry it was the best quote I'm gonna channel my inner Sawyer so get ready to laugh how about you listen up because I'm only gonna say this once you took my stuff while I was off trying to get us help get us rescued you found my stash and you took it you divvied it up my shaving cream my batteries and even my beer and then something else happened. You decided these two boys here were gonna tell you what you could do and when to do it. Well I'm done taking orders and I don't want my stuff back shaving cream don't matter batteries don't matter the only thing that matters now are guns and if you want one you're gonna have to come to me to get it. There's a new sheriff in town boys y'all best get used to it. Later on Sawyer sits on the beach polishing his rifle. Kate walks up and asks how he accomplished getting the guns from Locke's hiding spot while he was in the hatch pushing the button. But Sawyer isn't talking. Kate now knows that he played her all along and thinks that he has something to do with Sun subduction. Setting aside the how for a moment, Kate turns to the why. She doesn't believe it's got anything to do with revenge or power. Kate thinks Sawyer just wants people to hate him. Sawyer reminds her that a tiger don't change its stripes. She runs he cons. Back at the campfire Hurley is reading a manuscript called Bad Twin. Said walks up to the rad walks up with the radio and a pole. Together they tune it past Danielle's transmission and find a clear signal from a classic jazz station. Said tells Hurley that because signals from that frequency bounce off the ionosphere the music could be coming from anywhere. Hurley responds or anytime just kidding dude but was he really fucking lost would it would it be really be the strangest thing at this point on that island? I think it'd be the I think it'd be the most normal thing actually it would be in the jungle Charlie approaches Sawyer. It is revealed that Charlie followed Locke and told Sawyer the gun's hiding place. Sawyer offers Charlie one of the Virgin Mary statues but Charlie declines. If he'd wanted one he'd have taken it himself from Locke's dash before he told Sawyer where it was Charlie only participated in this con to make Locke look and feel like a fool. He also wants to be certain that Sawyer will never tell Son that it was Charlie who attacked her in the jungle. Sawyer agrees Charlie does have one question however what made Sawyer plan this out? Sawyer replies I'm not a good person Charlie never did a good thing in my life that's the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_00Which makes you believe which makes you want to believe that there was more to it because didn't he say the beginning episode oh you're the old like I thought they hated me but they seem to hate you more than they hate me right now. And I kind of feel he did all of this yes you know I think it was a twofer thing like yeah I want some I'm tired taking the orders he's aggravated that this stash was taken um but maybe so they can hate him more than Charlie again. I think that threw that was like a little that was in there also.
SPEAKER_01And Sawyer is excellent at reading people so he knows exactly how to get them to do what he wants.
SPEAKER_00I love that about him I know this I know this episode wasn't meant for someone to love him like he but something about I just that's a skill he has a skill set that's pretty awesome um it and you know it's something that um you can be taught but on some level that's like that's innate ability and if his life like if his family wasn't if his mother wasn't con his father didn't kill him ball like if his life was different he could have been the CEO of some fucking company.
SPEAKER_01Or I could also see him being like one of those um pastors of a mega church. Oh that too because he would he would be perfect for that role because aren't they aren't they more or less glorified con men.
SPEAKER_00Yes see I said I didn't want to say that but please send the hate mail to sassinsips at gmail.com I'll read it um since we're talking about Sawyer maybe it's just me and maybe I think it's the maybe the way he did it you don't you one may not see it but when you we ask Kate to read to him reading to another person is intimate not that's just sexual but it's very intimate a mother to a child intimate doesn't have to mean sexual I know that you know that but everyone listening may not know that. But um yeah I'm just making it clear that you know and I like that but it doesn't come off that way because the way of Sawyer's demeanor the way he says it you don't see it but I'll be like oh oh um him I just like him and Kate together. They get each other they really do. Speaking of Kate oh wait so Jack you and Anna Lucia want to start this army great I think it's due time you do that. Once again you don't talk to the person a person that is pretty skilled that would be a good addition to this said army you're gonna ask everyone around that pretty much I'm sure don't have any training with a handgun or any weapons or any skills but you're still not going to tell her Analogu comes into the picture and Kate just got kicked to the curb.
SPEAKER_01He's so fucking petty but in fairness okay when they were playing golf and they were getting all nice and close and buddy buddy Sawyer comes back in the picture and Kate damn near pushed Jack to the curb so right button petty bullshit way of giving it back to her.
SPEAKER_00Right but you know what you're doing at the expense of everybody else much different circumstances like damn near dying and this is about the the good of the the you know the camp the whole everyone right army and then you're still blaming her for the others the others had you by the ball sack from day one let's get that straight that has nothing to do with her coming to follow you to they had you surrounded without her but yeah he's I think he's just this this his particular character flaws and everyone has them but his just really grind my gears. I know it's just he could be no right I mean even when he does write I give it to begrudgingly some trivia yay trivia so the call station of the radio station the call sign of the radio station Hurley and Saeed find is WXR and the station is playing music by Glenn Miller a musician who was never seen again after his plane disappeared in bad weather during World War II I didn't even know that I didn't get it that's funny sorry it's morbidly funny okay in addition okay so it's uh moonlight serenade is the name of the song and I'm not gonna read this entirely because I don't I I don't want to give it away anything but oh fuck it in addition Jack listened to the Moonlight Serenade in the opening of the first flashback of a tale of two cities so in an upcoming episode we'll have that song again what if it's the same you know what would be really funny he's in the flashback he's listening to the same airing the broadcast that they're listening to on the island now you know what I mean like it's there's a time there's like a time loop thing going on actually listening to the same exact broadcasting okay I'm gonna I'm just gonna keep reading wait wait wait wait I know that look go ahead keep reading I hit on something I no not at all I hit on something I know I just want to finish when Saeed approached Hurley with the radio he had modified Hurley was reading the manuscript Bad Twin by Gary Troop Gary Troop was the man who was sucked into the airplane turbine engine shortly after the crash okay all right that was a random um yeah no in Outlaws Sawyer drank during never ha during I Never to confirm that he has worn pink in his splashback he put on a pink shirt after sleeping with Cassidy oh yeah I didn't catch that Loc suggests to Jack that the reason Jack wants to know the combination to the gun vault is that Locke might for example fall off a cliff.
SPEAKER_01Jack reminds him that there are a lot of cliffs on the island Locke saved Jack from falling off a cliff before but Jack's response could also be referencing John's lie about Boone falling off a cliff which is often seen as a starting point for their rivalry.
SPEAKER_00So that's about it for that Jack I think Fayus is just can find something to rival with someone no matter who they are like I think he's just anyone that I think can Jack is just so damaged.
SPEAKER_01Like they're all just so damaged like none of them know how to love another person.
SPEAKER_00But isn't that everybody isn't everyone damaged and sometimes I think we just get those are there are those of us that get lucky to find that other person that other damaged person that heals your damage and you heal their damage. And I think where people you don't find that person you always in the bad relationships it's like your damage they don't fit together they just bump each other so like I think everyone everyone's damage and you're always gonna be damaged and you work to better yourself you work to heal you work to do better and evolve um I don't know let me stop says the perpetual singer woman any any new thoughts on Sawyer after seeing another one of his episodes no I got what I wanted I got my I got to see him in action and it was a scene that I mean there was an episode that he like there really like big picture there really wasn't a like he ain't doing anything good but I still love him. Does that make me sick? Probably um back to me being silly and talking out my ass and your face kind of just shut down hold over your head for a little while just letting you know I feel like I blame Hurley his out of time thing I was I was just feeding off of Hurley we are like halfway through the second season already how do you think it's going so far this is okay so while it's a little bit more entertaining it's also more frustrating because you get all these twists and turns and I'm like it's like not twists and turns but things that don't make sense to me I'm like the f the I um you want to talk about frustrating I'm gonna leave you with this so evil. The next episode is called one of them it's a Said episode and I personally think that it's a really good episode now this episode is called the long con which is pretty self-explanatory and he he did a long con in the flashback he did a long con on the island going into a Saeed episode anything that you're hoping to learn or see let's do let me go back um so we know how he ended up on the plane we know why he was on what his purpose was right I'm trying to think is it I'm trying to run through so well we've learned we've learned that Saeed was in the Republican Guard and he had to torture Nadia and his goal was he he freed her he shot himself and freed her and then he basically spent all this time looking for her and then um which is how he ended up in what was it London I believe and and then they were um and they sent him to Australia to to do this to try to infiltrate Assam and that cell and then they said okay well she's in Los Angeles and then they were going to put him on the plane which is how he ended up on 815 so basically his whole background that we have is that he's been in the Republican Guard and he's looking for Nadia I wonder if they're gonna touch a base between him between Nadia's escaping him and between him and in Australia like what happened between that they said he was so maybe I'm thinking maybe they can get some other than that I can't think of anything I want to know about him per se but I'm like what happened between that like what happened here? Um yeah yeah yeah I feel like there was a lot more dam I would say emotional damage to him other than just her escaping and him looking for her. Some sh like there was there has to be ins and outs to do with you know like whether the what the his superiors tr like did they believe him? Did he escape? Did he have the run like what happened after his escape?
SPEAKER_01Okay remember in the last episode when we talked about that there was a sign um on Charlie like in in Charlie's flashback on uh was it the building or the fence or something? Where had you had a chance to look at that?
SPEAKER_00Wait, go back again?
SPEAKER_01Oh no I did it no no no I didn't even have a chance to go back yet so do that before the next episode because the next episode the next episode how do I put this is the beginning of a lot in oh my god I'm so excited for the next episode so whatever whatever was on that billboard or that sign like I can picture it but I I can't um it's it's going to come back in this next episode. I think it's this next episode that we see it again. Okay so I'm gonna actually once we start recording guess what I'm gonna do okay yeah so and then um yeah and whenever whenever you're ready for the for that next episode you let me know because I'm excited for it I'm really excited for it like honestly the next few episodes are really good I mean I I know it's coming from me so you know you might not believe it but okay I mean I don't that I don't believe you know what it is though also remember when you get to the second half of a season the episode seems to pick up a little it does so yeah so whenever you're ready anything else before we dip out no I think that's good um hollem shake the hollow shake um no I think that's it I think I'm done my brain is okay done all right well and you did say in the jungle and I didn't and I was like kind of humming it lowly in the jungle the mighty jungle okay so stay tuned for our next episode one of them where we get back into Said story and in the meantime while you wait please support our show at patreon.com slash saspod and if you choose not to become a Patreon there you can find us on social media you can share our show you can send us an email and tell your friends rate review and subscribe anything that you do to promote our show is a huge help to us and we appreciate it.
