SPEAKER_01

Hi and welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips, where every episode we will be discussing and dissecting an episode of Love in Order. We are your hosts. I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And today's episode is the other 48 days. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

What are you drinking? Oh go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, wait, what am I drinking? I am drinking because you know lately we've been recording early, and I'm drinking my my special coffee.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'm an hour ahead of you, so it's uh it's booze time. I've got vodka and seltzer. So in a in a nice red straw.

SPEAKER_03

Gotta take a picture of us.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and my cat's trying to break out of my room.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so okay. This episode had me like whoa. See? It's weird.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, it's close to shit. Um okay, so if you had to rate this episode on a scale of one to ten, where would it be?

SPEAKER_03

It was a seven and a half, eight.

SPEAKER_01

Nice, very nice. What was it about this episode for you?

SPEAKER_03

The opening scene was a lot more raw and than the pilot episode's opening scene. The opening scene for the pilot was just a matter of fact, boom, it landed, you know, it crashed and they gave the shit together. This one was like holy shit.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the difference also is in the pilot episode, the crash has already happened.

SPEAKER_03

Right. You don't like this when you saw the fucking plane fall into the ocean. It was just like everything, their reaction, the sound effects, and like what you hear and what you don't hear, and how you see them. You don't it's it was just it was real life, real life TV. You know what I mean? You you felt the shit pop off as opposed to just watching the shit pop off.

SPEAKER_01

It was a lot more scary. Yeah. You know, in the in the first in the pilot episode, we see all the mayhem, but there's this one that like you saw like the dead bodies floating, yeah and Echo is pulling them out of the water. You're doing C PR on a kid.

SPEAKER_03

It's and then I and then the pilot episode, it's happened. This episode, it it knocks you off your feet in the sense that you see this beautiful first of all. I didn't think it was the same island because the oh the the the the water was so much it was greener than the blue and the red. I don't know if anyone noticed that. You see this beautiful, serene, green, emerald green water, and then the fucking tail coming down. So it it literally and figuratively knocks you out your comfort zone. Kind of echoing real life at the moment. Um, but that's why I was like, whoa, to be fair, if the pilot episode was something like that, I probably would have grabbed my attention. I probably would have been like, whoa, and probably would have been a little bit more interested from the get-go. But yeah, but I think this it definitely had to be different because their experience on the island is different, yeah. Um their reaction to the experience is different, so you know, the opening scene for this episode explaining their 48 days had to be different, to say the least. Um, I'm really understating this.

SPEAKER_01

So when we get into the episode, there's no quote unquote flashbacks in the traditional sense.

SPEAKER_03

It is a flashback in and of itself, right?

SPEAKER_01

It's yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So I kind of like that though. It was cool.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Okay, I'm gonna start doing the synopsis and then obviously just yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Do what I do, yeah, do what you do. Interrupt you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. For whatever reason, when this printed, the words are extremely tiny. And so bear with me because this is gonna be an adventure.

SPEAKER_03

By the way, when you get to a certain point, I'll be like, I told you so. I want I'm gonna throw it out there when you get to the synopsis.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Days one and two. After the tail section of the plane crashes into the water off the beach, the survivors swim ashore. Zach, a child holding a teddy bear. That teddy bear. Where'd you see the teddy bear?

SPEAKER_03

When they were hiding from the others, and you also you see them all walking, and the kid, you also you see a kid with a teddy bear. Don't be texting me. I pay attention sometimes.

unknown

Yes. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Listen, these these are tests that when you pass them, I'm happy. Okay? I'm happy that you caught on.

SPEAKER_03

To be fair, this time I'm doing voice detects while writing my notes, and I'm not, you know, sucking my, you know, able to like watch as I'm leaving my notes.

SPEAKER_01

So hee hee. Okay, he points out his sister floating in the water. Mr. Echo in a black suit pulls her out, and Anna Lucia performs CPR on her, saving her life. A man runs out of the woods asking for help, saying there's someone alive in the jungle. The man brings Anna to Bernard, who is still belted in his seat, stuck up in a tree. Anna persuades him to grab the tree branch just before the seeds crash to the ground. Back on the beach, Goodwin, who claims to be in the Peace Corps, builds a signal fire so they can find us. A worried Bernard asks Echo if he found an African American woman among the bodies, referring to his wife, whom he can't find. Echo tells him no, but he will pray for her and for their rescue. That night, three of the adults are taken, and Echo kills two of the others with a rock when they try to take him. From that night on, he refuses to speak. A survivor who identifies himself as Nathan suggests staying on the beach. Anna Lucia protests, but Cindy, the flight attendant, backs up Nathan by informing the group that the plane was going in the wrong direction for quite a while. So the rescuers won't be able to find them if they don't keep the signal fire burning. Okay. On the other side of the island, when in the pilot episode, they had the pilot, which is the way that the audience and the survivors got the information that the flight was going in the wrong direction and nobody's coming for your asses.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And the Tailys have Cindy, which apparently is like the only flight attendant on the plane. Because where the fuck is everybody else?

SPEAKER_03

Right. Well, you know, yeah. Which kind of makes sense though, for the most part. Like the flight attendants are the ones up and about, and they're not, and like they're not in their seats. So as a plane is who's gonna think they're gonna be the first ones to kind of like fall out of plane breaking, you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

I'm just saying, but like even on the plane, I mean, you saw the huddle when they were trying to get at Charlie, but Cindy is like the only flight attendant that has a line, and you know.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, good point.

SPEAKER_01

And Anna Lucia is so different when you first see her in these scenes.

SPEAKER_03

As opposed to the Sky Lounge.

SPEAKER_01

Not even, not even, like, again, all fine.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

She's got like this tough exterior, like, don't come for me, and like what I say goes, and that's it. But that's my thorata.

SPEAKER_03

A thorata. Remember Ashell was like, what the fuck did they go through? Like, that was my first thought. Like, yo, they went through some shit. Because they all were kind of it. She was kind of like the leader, I will fuck you up, kind of role. Like, I'm here, like, and then someone, and then Libby was maybe like, I want to be open, but I'm too afraid of anybody. Like, you can tell she's a nice person, but she's like, uh-uh. Like, you know, you that tells you they are traumatized, they've been through some shit. They have like that's uh PSD.

SPEAKER_01

But when PTSD?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

So you when we first meet her, right? When we first meet her on the beach and she's doing CPR, she's so gentle and but at the same time, she's still authoritative, and she's still a leader. But you could see, but you could see much more of that vulnerability in her face and in her reactions.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, absolutely. But she she's she is the person. You know how I was like, I don't know if Jack would have been my first choice as leader, like Said would have been my first choice as a leader. She is definitely took on the role as leader, even when things was kind of calm, you know, not calm, but then we were being disappeared. Um she's definitely the one you look towards to be a leader.

SPEAKER_01

And I would not have chosen her as a leader, her and echo. I would have chosen Echo. Okay. I chose not, I mean, I Gren, you don't know any of their past, but no, but him, he even up to what we've seen, he's much more tourist.

SPEAKER_03

I can't help saying that now. Thank you, Lisa.

SPEAKER_01

South Park, what do you want? Um but he's calm and he's not he's not quick to react. Whereas it be she's she's got a you know, a jiggly trigger finger.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I'm thinking like day one, day two. I'm thinking like the initially. But him him too. I think both of them are definitely she jumped into action right away. They both did, as far as different ways. And I think um he was a quiet storm in a good way, and she was I mean, she wasn't loud and boisterous, but she's a little bit more vocal. And but her when she was vocal and it it was calming at the same way. I don't know. So the both of them are leaders. Obviously, she took on that role of a leader because he had his issues, we'll get into later, you know, his own personal. But I'm not surprised. I'm still at Jack still won't be my first choice to 48 days later. I'm like, yeah, I don't I could agree with that, but she is like she took on that role for whatever reason you know, based on what they went through, and I still see it, and I always see it, and you know, she's a natural person, not that Echo isn't. I do understand what you're saying, right? She still fits that role, but I like them both together though.

SPEAKER_01

If if Echo wasn't there, she would have been my choice. Okay, makes sense, but I would and and granted, this my my opinion might be colored because I know more about the characters, but I still would have chosen him over her. Okay, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I can I concur, and I love them together. Yeah, he they they definitely balance each other out, like that's a strong, and I feel like because they went through so much shit, their bond is so much deeper. I feel like the other ones a little superficial, like they're still bickering among themselves, and they don't want to acknowledge that they need each other. I think I can't wait until obviously it's obvious uh they're gonna be part of the same group, you know. And I can't wait until I just wish their leftovers were a little bit big. I wish the tailies were a little bit more left over, left from them, because you can tell like the survivors, yes, because the survivors needed this the grounding of the Tailies, and I wish there was a little bit more of them left to you know, just a you know what I mean. But I'm excited to see more of that. But go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so day three through seven, the tail section survivors search desperately for food. Libby tells Anna Lucia that Donald's close to being the fourth to die. That's the one that she set his leg and she and she told him the story about the skiing accident. That was cold. Donald dies two days later and is buried. The Tailies catch a chicken, and Libby tries conversing with Echo in vain. Day twelve. The others take nine more, including the two children, Zach and Emma. Anna manages to kill another other who is discovered to be carrying a vintage U.S. Army knife and a list and descriptions of the nine to be taken. The survivors opt to head into the jungle. They make camp near a source of fresh water and fruit trees. What do you make of the knife? The US military knife? Any thoughts on it?

SPEAKER_03

Like on its own? No, but it I mean it didn't surprise me either. Like obviously, we've discussed that the others are probably previous strat, you know, people have been there previously. Hello, we've had what's that thing called from Dor the Dharma Initiative. Like this people have been there. So see, and based on that film for a long time. So that knife being there makes it logical. Yeah. So do you just say that to me? I feel like I just set myself up for failure.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, no, no, no. I just it's that I want to hear your opinions and your thoughts without um like your wow, I'm you now, I have no words. You're like your preemptive thoughts before you know more, because I want to know where your train of thought is going.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I can't tell you because then it will ruin something for you. And so it's not just it's not like to set you up to fail, although that is a fun side effect.

SPEAKER_03

You do do that. You're like I do, and I think it's hysterical. But most of the time, I just want to know like where you're at in your thinking, and it's just a cherry, me setting up is just a cherry on top. But you know the funny thing is when you're trying to set me up for your own little personal fun, is what those that's a situation, those are the times where I apparently it seems that I'm hitting the nail on the head, be like, fuck this bitch.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so do you think that the person who had the knife? Do you think that those are like the Dharma initiative people?

SPEAKER_03

I have absolutely no fucking idea.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I feel set up.

SPEAKER_01

After days 15 through 23. After three days of walking, the seven remaining Tailies make camp in the jungle near a river. Anna starts digging a pit. Anna knocks Nathan unconscious and throws him into the pit. She interrogates him, believing he is one of those who took the children, due to his unexplained absences and how nobody remembered seeing him on the plane. When asked where he came from, he replies, Canada, and she begins starving him. She demands to know the location of the children, but Echo feeds him when she is not looking. Anna tells Goodwin she intends to start torturing Nathan the next day. That night, Goodwin frees Nathan, warning him of Anna's plan. When Nathan turns to leave, Goodwin snaps his neck, killing him.

SPEAKER_03

Can I say my told you so now?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

So remember, like, I think the last two shows we did? I was like, the others mixed, and I know I'm using disappeared, like in this in this tense is wrong, but it's fun to say it. I know they make them disappear. They disappeared it, the people. So my memory was like, well, how does Goodwin? Because um, when they asked him, Oh, that was the others, he was like, Yeah, with nods. Um, I was like, but every all the other people would like they made them just disappear. So why is he still there dead? Like, so I'm like, and you're like, well, but I was like, that doesn't make sense. They all disappeared in it in it. So that's I was like, mm-mm, something right, flow. Yeah, no, you're right. You're right. Oh, so I would I would look for cues from you now. Somebody say something and you try to like veer me the other way, I'm gonna try like mental note. I'm on the right track.

SPEAKER_01

I'll I'll remember that. Good, thanks.

SPEAKER_03

Or maybe I'll see that's me using reverse psychology on you.

SPEAKER_01

So maybe maybe this is me review using reverse psychology on you. I'm the one with the degree in psychology, so we'll just pretend like I know what I'm doing.

SPEAKER_03

Well, according to people, I'm manipulative, so you know. All right. I sit and I watch and I learn. People don't like that about me.

SPEAKER_01

The best way to learn about people. Days 24 through 27. The survivors move again and find the bunker marked by a Dharma Initiative logo with an arrow in the center. Goodwin seems surprised to see it. Inside a box, they find a glass eye, a Bible, and a radio. Can we talk about the contents of the box?

SPEAKER_03

A glass eye, a Bible, and a radio. Like what a combination. It's completely random, and I'm trying to take those things based on what I do know thus far, and I'm like, I don't know. I was like, I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Well, when they brought out the Bible, um, Echo seemed to have a reaction to it. Did you notice that? I did.

SPEAKER_03

It could be like religion is uh a linchpin for a lot of things for people. Um good, bad, both, you know, so it could have been a sense of like it might have triggered a memory, it could try I mean, I it's it's it could be so many things. Nevermind loss is fucking crazy, and the writers were on shrooms or something, but just on in real life, religion can evoke so many different emotions, not just within multiple people, but within one person. So I I I don't even try to like well, and just in in like a subsequent scene, when Bernard asks him about he said, but he said um he'll pray for her.

SPEAKER_01

I'm not sure if it happened. I don't I think that it happened already. No, I think that it happens now. It happened, yeah. I can't remember exactly, but yeah, so but he says I'll pray for her. So I mean we get the we get the feeling that Mr. Echo is a religious man. Because he was definitely he definitely had a reaction to the Bible, and he says that he'll pray for Rose.

SPEAKER_03

So it's funny how I'm sorry, like you have the the drug couriers and they're dressed up as like what priest?

SPEAKER_01

Oh right.

SPEAKER_03

And with with the with the and then the drugs or in like the the the was it Virgin Mary statue, you know, with the same statues. And it's funny how they throw in religion in this app in this in this show in a way you don't expect it to be thrown in. You mean you mean the idea of religion, you know, just like you know, just the idea. Uh-huh. You know, um, that's it. Sometimes religion literally, and just the idea you know, how they just weave it in there. You're like, well, damn, you just threw that at me and I didn't expect it. And I feel like this whole sh and I don't looking back on the like the season and change that we've done so far, everything about what these people are going through is taking them on a spiritual journey. And I feel like we see the flashbacks, it's not just us watching just to get more get to know these people, it's actually them thinking about things that happen to their life. That's how I'm looking at it. I'm thinking at it's I feel like that might be it also. So and I feel like that actually there this process is a spirit, it's in some sense a journey for them. Whether you're religious or not, it's a journey for them. And um it's like their own, like whether it's the um my god, what is it? My god I can't remember the I can't remember. Remember the process, the name of the process, but yeah, so the fact that they're throwing in religion and this whole show is a spiritual journey. What is that name of that? Are you thinking of like the your birthright? Vision quest. Oh, vision. Okay. Um, and it's and you're looking and you're going and you're figuring out what is it that you're actually searching for? What is it that I need to, what path of am I meant to follow? What's my destiny? And it goes through so many different that's why I like you know, I feel like all religions and spiritual have a grounded and basic, everything's ground the same thing. Yeah. So I'm like, why can't we really just love each other for our religion regardless? But that's irrelevant. Um, so yeah, the show brings about life and death and purpose, and they throw it in and they make it obvious with the gun runners throwing in the nuns, and they make it with the Bible, and they do like the different things they kind of throw it. So, yeah, that's my thought on Lost.

SPEAKER_01

So then they also found the glass eye, which honestly, I kind of was like, a glass eye, like what the fuck? It just existed to serve like a what the fuck purpose. But I could be wrong.

SPEAKER_03

Because it's just so random, like somebody's missing a glass eye, like what the f like I mean it's not like they um it's not like they're gonna be any less blind in that eye, you know.

SPEAKER_01

And the radio, which as we see, will come into use. So as we will see, let me say. Goodwin and Anna go to higher ground to try to pick up a signal. While there, Anna reveals that she knows Goodwin is one of the others. She's smart. She's very, she's very smart. Because on the first day, he ran out of the jungle with his clothes completely dry ten minutes after the plane crashed into the water.

SPEAKER_03

I noticed that, but I didn't know what the time frame was. But you know, I really wasn't, I'm like, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I'll be honest, I didn't notice that the first time I watched. And and even now, just to play devil's advocate, Bernard didn't land in the water. So why couldn't Goodwin have landed in another seat somewhere in the jungle and gotten himself down?

SPEAKER_03

That's why I kind of I was like, you know, because I noticed the fact, but I didn't put it together. I'm like, I'm like, it's I'm like, okay, whatever, it's you know, it happened later. And you notice her hair is getting curlier and tighter as it dries. Like most curly us curly hair girls, we go from wavy to curly when we get wet, like if we live and dry naturally. This is and her this is pool curls. So you remember like doing the at the at the airport, her hair was wavy, and of course, she lands in the wall in the ocean, and this and her hair is getting tighter. So I'm like, I don't ask me why I noticed that crap. I have no life.

SPEAKER_01

Because it's for females and we look at other females' hair.

SPEAKER_03

Um to be quite honest. If I was watching it normally, I never would have noticed it. But since I'm watching the show with a purpose, i.e. you, and you want to test me. I look at these things now.

SPEAKER_01

Goodwin admits he killed Nathan and confirms that the children are still alive, saying that they are better off. He also says that those taken were good people, and that Nathan was not on the list because he was a bad person. The two fight for the army knife when they roll down a hill, and Anna impales him with the sharpened stick. Like, oh my god.

SPEAKER_03

I was just like, he said because they were good. Like, what the fuck is wrong with you? You're fucking crazy. Like, I was like, I was like, oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

But this goes back. This goes back to an overlying theme. One light, one dark, which could also be good and evil, you know what I mean? Like dark and light. This you got locked with the Othello, no, backgammon stones. You've got Adam and Eve in the cave with the light stone and the dark stone. So, I mean, this is not the first time that we hear this theme of good and bad and light and dark. And especially when you think about what you said about a spiritual journey. I mean, isn't it all about heaven and hell, good and evil?

SPEAKER_03

And even if you don't believe in that per se, it still flows with um reincarnation in a sense that you must learn something to you know, like each life you're learning something. Right. Sometimes you go further, sometimes you fall back. Right, and then you transcend to your higher level, right? Or you stay the same level of that lesson. I think so. Regardless of what your religious leanings are and what your spirituality is, something like every time I watch the show, I still look for things based on my my epiphany I had the end of last season. I was like, the fuck? I kind of want to fast forward to like the end of the series because I just want I just want to know the answer. But no, but I like to, yeah. I had to be I don't have to be proven wrong, but I like to I like the journey of not just the conclusion. Like I enjoy the journey.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just like that's like such such a perfect way to phrase it. Anna returns to the survivors and tells them we're safe here now, but does not reveal on screen that she killed Goodwin. On the 41st day, Bernard picks up Boone's transmission from the beachcraft on the radio and responds to Boone's We're the Survivors of Oceanic Flight A15 with We're the Survivors of Flight A15. But before any uh any further conversation can take place, Anna turns off the radio, dismissing the transmission as another trick by the others. So we saw this from Boone's perspective. Yes. And and now it's like, oh my god, they were so close to finding each other. Damn it, Anna.

SPEAKER_03

But I would have thought the same thing because you like who like the the the survivors never would have thought anyone survived. So who why would the teller think anyone would survive that shit? And that was that would have been my my and it first thing.

SPEAKER_01

Right, and especially just after having it out with Goodwin.

SPEAKER_03

Everyone's disappearing natural, right? They're being disappeared. I love saying that. They done disappeared, they done disappeared. But you know, it kind of makes me feel better in a way to know that Boone wasn't really talking to someone who could save them. You know what I mean? Because he's like, damn, hello, like, oh my god, they're so close to being saved. Actually, you weren't, so I kind of feel better knowing that they weren't, you know what I mean? It wasn't a misopportunity per se.

SPEAKER_01

But maybe it was because maybe let's say the two groups got together sooner. Do you think that things tragic tragic events could have avoided, could have been avoided? I don't think like i.e. Anna Lucia shooting Shannon.

SPEAKER_03

Well, yeah, but something else would have happened. Either way, if they would have cut together, if that transmission would have made something, they still wouldn't have been saved. The transmission No no no that made me feel like okay, at least you it wasn't you calling out and you're so close to being saved. You really weren't you just talking to another deser another survivor.

SPEAKER_01

But if what if Mr. Echo is like actually you know a world champion boat builder and could have built them a boat that actually would have made it? Or I don't know, or being that they had so much more experience with the others that when the raft went, they wouldn't have fallen for the trick.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, there's that too, but considering that they need the series to continue, it would have been something else.

SPEAKER_01

Fair enough. So Anna Lucia tells them that they know we were on flight 815 because Goodwin knew, and that this is our life now. She goes off by herself to cry, and Echo speaking for the first time since the night he was nearly abducted speaking for the first time since the night he was nearly abducted, tells her everything will be alright. She asks him why it took him 40 days to speak, and he asks her why it took her so long to cry.

SPEAKER_03

Why it took her 40 days to cry. That shit. I was like, yo. I I was like, that was probably one of my most probably like that. I don't want to say my favorite quote, but probably is the only quote that I actually remember. Like, I was like, I think I will remember that quote. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Days 45 through 48. This is this is where even the the camera is different because it's just like like flashes, like scenes, and your heart is like, oh shit, here we go.

SPEAKER_03

I thought I no, I took it as okay, we know what happened now. Like because this is you know, we've seen this, so this is kind of like this is just a dramatic, like we know what happened. Let's be dramatic with it. There's no sense to go into details because we know what happened. So it's like yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um which I appreciate it, because if I had to watch it again, I was like, it would have been redundant.

SPEAKER_01

Cindy and Libby find Jin washed up on the shore. After pulling him from the water, they tie him up and blindfold him while they try to find out who he is. As Echo and Analysia argue, Jin breaks free and runs to the beach, at which point the events shown in previous episodes are replayed. The remainder of the 48 days are shown as a montage of events already seen, including the tale section's acceptance of Jin Sawyer and Michael, the trek to the mid-sections camp, Sawyer falling ill, Cindy listening to the forest whispers just before she is taken, and the shooting of Shannon by Analcia. And at that is the end of the episode.

SPEAKER_03

So this is also another thing. We'll talk about good and bad, and a point that I made earlier about the survivors still bickering among themselves. And I find that to be kind of telling as to why the others are kidnapped, have kidnapped all the Taillys and really haven't kidnapped. Like they did the Claire and the bush who was pregnant, but they've left the survivors pretty much alone. And I wonder if it's because most of them aren't good, or is it because in their eyes? Or is it because it's just more of them? But I don't think the more of them really makes a difference because these the others kind of make they move with like with military precision. Oh, I think I just had a uh aha moment, but anyway, um so I like I wonder you know notice that the they're still bickering, they still fight amongst themselves, and that's all they all they have.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, good night as for trivia there's it's kind of like alright. So Mr. Echo first created his stick in this episode. Which the stick is you know, we'll see it again. Right after the plane's tail crashes into the water, one of the monster sounds can be heard. But I didn't catch that.

SPEAKER_03

I heard a lot of noise, like you know, I didn't catch it was the monster though, but that's funny. Not ha ha funny, but like wow, okay. Something we both didn't catch.

SPEAKER_01

This okay, this one is not a spoiler, but a little bit. But I'll give it to you anyway.

SPEAKER_03

I'll try to forget it so it won't spoil it.

SPEAKER_01

This is the first of four episodes to have flashes related to Libby in it, but not centered around her. But I'm not gonna tell you what episodes are.

SPEAKER_03

I mean I mean, but that's is that really a spoiler because they do that a lot with other characters too.

SPEAKER_01

In a sense. But it it kind of is because that means that you're gonna see Libby in four flashes that are not centered around her, which means that she has a connection to at least one other person. I mean, this episode is different because it's all just on island flashback.

SPEAKER_03

But I mean, but all the other characters have been in other characters' flashbacks also. So what's I mean, just because they're still on the same plane, so the odds that they are interconnected doesn't throw me. That's not even much of a spoiler.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, if you look at it like that, I guess. So be it.

SPEAKER_03

So you should feel better. You didn't spoil anything for me. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Echo spent 40 days not speaking.

SPEAKER_03

Repentance.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. And then just as Jesus spent 40 days on a fast. So that we have like another religious reference with him. That's pretty much it. Um thoughts on the title after seeing the episode?

SPEAKER_03

No. I obvious uh the other 48 it's like the other 48 days, like the their 48 days, and then it's kind of funny how it's the it reminds me of another 48, like 48 hours. Like you like like shit happens in 48.

SPEAKER_01

Um no, but it was I I So there a lot of shit happened in those 48 days, right?

SPEAKER_03

It it's a whole different ball of wax. I think they went through a lot of experiences, and I damn, damn, homie. That's all I gotta say. Damn, damn, damn.

SPEAKER_01

Next episode is called Collision, and if I'm not mistaken, it's it's an Ana Lucia episode, which makes sense. Before we get into her some of her backstory, I want to hear your thoughts on her. Like, what do you think we're gonna find out? What do you think her background is? Like, I want to hear your thoughts before you find out.

SPEAKER_03

I do know. I know I remember I mentioned it like a couple episodes ago, or maybe last episode, I don't know. Time is wonky. Um, that she knows how to use a weapon. Um she knows CPR. She knows CPR, she's relatively calm and collected. Under under like pressure, extreme pressure. Extreme pressure. So I mean, I don't know. I mean, she knew the knife was military, old military. So you like how many people? I mean, I don't know. Like most people wouldn't know that unless you were the military or have military connections or just collector, but adding that and with all her other skills, I don't think she's a collector. So she has some kind of okay.

SPEAKER_01

In fairness, the knife said US military. It did, it did on the tank stamp, but she also knew she, if I'm not mistaken, she mentioned something like that it had to be like 20 years old.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, because something about it, I'm like, how the fuck do you because I remember thinking how the fuck you know all this shit? But she's like Sherlock Holmes of Lost. Um, she's very so I don't know, maybe she's uh is she a cop? Is she FBI? Is she CIA? I I don't think CIA, but I don't I don't know. She I I think like like Saeed is very he can deduce things, and he was in the military, so she has her thing of deduction. So I think it's I think the Taylor's need a a person in Lawrence Frismer too. They have a I don't want to say pseudo doctor, but they have Libby to Jack. So Anna Lucia could be to Saeed. I don't know. I'm just making shit up now, but um they need to make these earphones a lot more comfortable. Um so yeah, I don't know. I like her.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Are you a shouting? Terry's gonna be jealous.

SPEAKER_03

Totally in love with Terry O'Quinn. I love him. He he bust buds now. Um no. He literally love everyone. I literally love like everything he's ever been in. He's the phenomenal actor. He really is. Okay, listen, trivia. So he is in Lost. When is Lost finish airing? 2010-ish? 11, I believe. 11. Okay, and I think so. And they take and they tape and they tape this in Hawaii. After he left Lost, he started playing in Hawaii 5.0. Another one.

SPEAKER_01

There's a bunch of lost people in Hawaii 5.0. Um, I yeah, I know. All right. Uh back to Michelle Rodriguez. Anna Lucia. Anything that you're hoping to find out about her?

SPEAKER_03

No.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know enough about her character to want m to dig and del. Like with Kit.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like that's just the opposite. Like, I don't know anything about her. I want to know something.

SPEAKER_03

When I say there's a thing, I don't know, and I don't I feel like there's nothing that makes me like, what the fuck? Like, you know, you want to know more about her, but nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Like with the how to like even watch where like she doesn't have an Australian accent. That doesn't I'm not gonna get me. No, no, it doesn't okay. But could you just let me finish? I said I apologize. No, so one it would stand to reason that she's not Australian. Okay. Now she's on her way to Los Angeles, so at least the at the very least, what was she doing in Australia, or why is she going to Los Angeles? Like one of those was the you know, was going for a reason. So was she going to Australia for a reason, or is she going to Los Angeles for a reason? And what brought her there? What was the reason for the trip? What was she doing? I mean, at the very least, or what does she do for a living? Like, what's her background? I don't know. Like I feel like there's so many questions.

SPEAKER_03

I mean, I think all the questions for me from were just like everyday questions. They weren't questions that leave you like, what the fuck? Like with Kate, you're like, why the fuck is there what the fuck is there a marshal after her? So the questions for Anna just normal.

SPEAKER_01

Right. Because you but you got more about Kate right away. Right away, you knew that she was wanted.

SPEAKER_03

And that's why I want to know more. With Anne Lucia, right now it's like, okay, I don't know enough about her to be like, what the fuck? Now you just want to know, like, okay, give me more, but nothing that makes me want to know, like, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

You know, it's just not there's no so are you hoping that when they give you some pieces about her history, you're like, what the fuck? I want more.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I have a feeling. There's gonna be those moments, but right now I'm not there. Like, there's gonna be like, yo, this woman is deep. Like, there's gonna be those moments, there's gonna be something, but right now, there's nothing there yet. That's fair. It's just normal, like, hey, I wonder what they were doing. It could have been anything from going on vacation to stalking an ex-boyfriend. Like, it could have been anything. And right now, you're like, okay. Like, even let's say Charlie, his reasoning, like he had like reasoning, but it wasn't like what the fuck? Like, I need to know. Like, you know, it was just like, well, damn, that's fucked up. But it's not that very few characters have those their reasons to be on the plane are just everyday people traveling, they're just everyday reasons. Like normal people travel for deaths, everywhere.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I mean, is that is that really true? Think about the people that we know, okay? Um, okay, character-wise, John um John Locke was for a walkabout.

SPEAKER_03

That's fucking good.

SPEAKER_01

That's not necessarily your everyday reason. I mean, it's more of an everyday reason because that's a reason to to travel. It's something exciting, whatever. Right. So that might be the only one that I consider an everyday reason. Jack was there to look for his father who went on a bender and died. Um Hurley was there because he won the lottery and he was in search of the meaning of numbers.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, Hurley's reasons like out there. It's weird.

SPEAKER_01

Shannon and Boone. Boone was there because his sister was scamming him. And then she got dumped. So he was taking her back home. Charlie was there because he's trying to con he's a junkie and still trying to convince his brother to be a rock star because he needs him. Um who else? Oh, I um you don't know why Rose was there, but I do. We know why Said was there.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, Said's another- Okay, Said's another, like, whoa, that's something weird. So when I say everyday moments, Sawyer was there to kill somebody. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I'm just saying so far. Okay, and Cl Claire started there, but she was traveling for because a psychic told her she had to be on this plane in order to give her baby up for adoption.

SPEAKER_03

So there, okay, granted, there's a lot of for some reason they didn't grab it like as what the fuck. So when I say everyday reason, I think that's the wrong phrasing. Mundane. Mundane. Yeah. Because if you look at the world as a whole, I'm sure people travel for these top for these similar reasons a lot more than we realize. Like if you think about all the people on the plane, you're like, damn, are they really here for vacation? Are they here? Like, you know what I mean? Right. So they're just for the most part, they're all kind of mundane, big scale worldwide issues.

SPEAKER_01

As for okay, oh, and we know why Kate was there because she was on the run.

SPEAKER_03

I think that was fucking cool. But granted, there are some cool shit, Said.

SPEAKER_01

Who okay? So so the people that we don't know yet, we don't know what Anna Lucia was in Australia. So the Tailys. Okay, so Anna Lucia, Echo, and Libby.

SPEAKER_03

Bernard.

SPEAKER_01

We don't know about Bernard and Rose. And I think that that's it, right?

SPEAKER_03

Cindy's gone, even though we know she was a student, so that's kind of like a flight attendant. Oh my god, be BPC. Flight attendant. I have so I apologize. Okay, to be fair, I I've been watching uh whatcha call it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and we know why Michael was there.

SPEAKER_03

Michael.

SPEAKER_01

What were you what were you saying? What were you watching?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I watched Below Deck about the Yachtis. Oh, and then I haven't been watching it, but I heard I heard they get like the anterior call stupidist and stuff. So I yeah, so I yeah, sorry.

SPEAKER_01

I'm uh PPC. Right, Michael, Michael was there because Michael, his son, his son's mother died, and the the adoptive father is like, come get your kid because he's creepy. Like, I mean, I'm paraphrasing, but that was a good one.

SPEAKER_03

To be fair, okay, listen, I don't want to say to be fair, because if you're with a woman, you're taking on like when you're with a single parent, period. That child needs to become your child in the fucking story. But also, to be fair, he didn't ask to adopt him either. That was forced upon him.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but that's what that's a whole nother argument.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it is. Like, I can like I can see like only like taking care of that child and loving that child as it's yours, being forced to adopt them is kind of like, wait, what? You know what I mean? You can be a step parent without be adopting them, you could be a step parent and be more of a parent than the other parent is. You don't have to be forced to adopt them, right? So he was like, Wait, wait, wait, hold up. Wait, what?

SPEAKER_01

So he was like, Yeah, when she was dead, he was like, Now take your kid back.

SPEAKER_03

Poor Michael. I mean, wall. All right.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, let's wrap this up, unless there's anything else that you want to say before we're done.
