LOST Through The Looking Glass
"Because I want him to see it. I want him to experience the moment we get off this island and I want him to know that he failed. And then I'll kill him." - Jack Shephard
Original episode air date 5/23/2007
In this episode: Bernard is not Rambo, Christian Slater was actually COS, Benry must be Gen X, and how many shows/movies can we reference in this episode? Seriously though, can you let us know? We lost count!
In other news, Agnes is completely shocked by the ending and yet still manages to come up with wacky theories, and Lisa needs grammar lessons and goes even deeper down the alice in wonderland rabbit hole.

Through the looking glass, season three finale. You got your magic word? You ready to go? You got your drink? You got your word? Let's do this. Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sassin's Sips, where every episode Agnes and I dissect and discuss an episode of Lost in Order while we drink. And today's episode is the season three finale through the looking glass.
SPEAKER_05Oh thank God. Just three more seasons to go.
SPEAKER_00Yes. We are we're we're technically we are more than halfway done, even though there's three more seasons, but the last three don't have as many episodes. And actually, by now, um, back in time when this was live on air, I'm not sure when. I I think it might have been around the time that The Man Behind the Curtain came out, but they actually announced the end date for the series. So every episode from like The Man Behind the Curtain, or maybe even um Greatest Hits was written with that end in mind.
SPEAKER_05Interesting. Okay, that's kind of cool. That's that's kind of cool.
SPEAKER_00So I am going to run through the episode the way we have been. Anything before I start?
SPEAKER_05Nope. Oh, one thing. You're Lisa. I'm Agnes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Oh yeah, and we didn't say what we were drinking. I'm so excited about this. So I'm Lisa, and I have a Stella.
SPEAKER_05Stella. Wait, I don't know how I feel about you right now.
SPEAKER_00Why?
SPEAKER_05I get a Stella. You don't drink, you're not drinking. You're not drinking Stella. I don't have Stella, you drink Stella.
SPEAKER_00No, but last time, it was it last time or the time before that? We both had Stella.
SPEAKER_05Okay, that one time. Okay, okay, okay. We didn't. We were Stella twins. We were Stella twins that one time. Okay, I love you again.
SPEAKER_00Okay, thank you.
SPEAKER_05All right, today's drink is a nice summery drink. I like to have is my pineapple juice and Malibu.
unknownSounds good.
SPEAKER_05It's so freaking good. Okay, and because it has like a it doesn't have that much alcohol in the Malibu, I could drink a whole bunch of it before swearing my words.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Today we're also gonna be playing a game. Agnes and I have each written a lost themed word. Thanks to our lovely, lovely listeners who have submitted words we chose from there. So when she says the magic word a la Pee Wee Herman, instead of screaming, she's going to drink. And the same goes for me.
SPEAKER_02This is gonna be fun.
SPEAKER_00Ready?
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_05I was gonna ask, is my word like what level? Tipsy, drunk, or alcohol poisoning level? Like, say because some of the words you're like, oh yeah. This was just gonna be.
SPEAKER_00I guess you're just gonna have to wait and see.
unknownOh okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And so, like I said, we're gonna run through this episode in the same manner, and then we have a surprise at the end. Surprise shorty! Hey friends, Lisa here to tell you about an online store that I really, really like. I know most of us are still spending more time at home due to COVID. When the episode aired the first time live, it aired as one episode. And then in subsequent viewings, it was two parts. So if you're watching it now, you're probably watching it as part one and part two. So part one, we enter on a bearded jack on a plane drinking. It's just like the pilot episode, huh?
SPEAKER_05I see a pattern emerging.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. He touches the flight attendant. He wants more alcohol, and she looks pissed that he touched her. Something in the newspaper on the seat next to him catches his eye, so he rips it out. Then he drives to a bridge, looks at the little article again, he cries, he calls someone who doesn't answer, and then he goes to the railing, presumably to jump. But before he could jump, there's a car crash behind him. On island. The beach camp is preparing for their journey to the radio tower. Said reassures Jack, and Rose makes sure Bernard knows he's not Rambo. Sun and Jin share a moment before they spend yet another season finale apart. Every season finale, they have been apart. The first one he was on the raft. The second one, they they were on the boat, but he but she was on the boat and he Yeah, I remember. Uh-huh. And now, yeah.
SPEAKER_05Here we go again. Keeps America spicy.
SPEAKER_00That must be what it is. They begin their journey to the tower, minus Saeed, Bernard, and Jin with the ocean on their right. After the lost title page, their survivors are now walking with the ocean on the left. Magic. So I noticed I was like, what the f okay, like it's an island, so you made a wrong turn. What happened?
SPEAKER_05Well, maybe they're just looking at another different view, you know. Like, okay, so if you're walking, like let's say they're walking north and the island. No, but walking north and the and the oceans on my left, but as I turn, I think I you know what? I forgot something back in my tent and I start heading south. And guess what? The ocean's on my right, so okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Must be. Naomi wants to know what Jack did for a living before he became Moses, and wants to show him how to use the satellite phone in case something happens to her. At the looking glass, Charlie is tied to a chair, getting his ass kicked by two women. They want to know how he knew about the station, and Charlie tells him it was Juliet. The ladies call Ben, and Charlie sees the blinking yellow light. They catch him up, and Ben realizes his plan is fucked. He sends Mikhail to the looking glass and he agrees, but not before he calls Ben on his bullshit. Ben then tries to warn Ryan, but they already turned their walkies off. They arrive at the rigged camp, and Saeed and Bernard each hit their mark, but Jin misses. A gunfight ensues, and ugh, our lossies get captured.
SPEAKER_05Womp womp. So surprising. Never thought, never saw that one coming.
SPEAKER_00There was too much episode left for it to be um without a hitch.
SPEAKER_05I just, it's just one of those things like of course they're gonna get caught.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Jin was there. He's three for three. The rest of the gang is in a valley wondering why there weren't three explosions. In flashback, Jack is getting his head stitched and wants to know how the woman is. His pregnant ex-wife Sarah arrives because she's still listed as his emergency contact and wants to know why he was out driving at 2 a.m. He asks her for a ride home, but she says no and leaves. In the valley, Jack is trying to reassure okay.
SPEAKER_05Ex-wife, whatever, have you? I got and I gotta admit I thought it was a different time frame when I first watched this. But emergency contact, I get it. But what's the okay, if you're not gonna make sure he at least in a cab or like make sure he's in once at least, you know, he doesn't he gets out okay, why bother showing up anyway? Like you know, as a mercy contact. Or at least put him in a cab, or whatever the case may be, why bother showing up at all? It would have been okay not to show up, it would have been okay to show up and let him get make sure he gets home okay. But to show up and say like uh fuck you is like, okay, that makes you a bitch. Oh, that's just me.
SPEAKER_00No, I I thought the same thing. I mean, like, oh great, you're not dead.
SPEAKER_05But all right, bye. You could call the hospital for that, you know what I mean? And and the then have questions like when you do a drive at 2 o'clock in the morning, I ain't gonna have a perfume.
SPEAKER_00I'm asking a lot of questions for somebody who doesn't want to give me a ride home. Right. He should have been like, I'll I'll answer in the car.
SPEAKER_05I never liked at all.
SPEAKER_00So I'm like, but you know what though? Even at the same time, Jack is not really somebody who asks for help. So the fact that he even did he asked for a ride, yeah, should have should have been a clue to her that he did need the help.
SPEAKER_05Like something something they write. And I get like, and I get whatever he was going through, and you sometimes just gotta cut people out your life. I get it. I support that. But back to either cut them out or don't cut them out. The whole half-ass shit is just it makes you a bitch.
SPEAKER_00Well, and not for nothing though, but even if she's still listed as the emergency contact, if she didn't want to show up, she could very easily have called someone else and sent them in her place.
SPEAKER_05Exactly. I felt like this was just it was a it was the fuck you to him.
SPEAKER_00On the island, Jack is in the valley trying to reassure everyone, especially Rose and Sun. Underwater, Charlie explains why he's there very candidly, and they inform him that he'll need a code. At the beach, Tom is filling Ben in on what happened, and Ben wants revenge. He tells them to shoot Jin to get them to talk, and while Jin and Said stay strong, Bernard caves and sings like a canary. Well, in fairness, Rose did remind him he's not Rambo, so.
SPEAKER_05To be fair, you're absolutely right.
SPEAKER_00The next morning, Ben plans to go to the radio tower while the rest of the others head to the temple. Richard thinks it's a bad idea, and Alex wants to tag along with Ben, and he says yes. He said he's gonna deliver her to her new family.
SPEAKER_05I feel like that's that the quintessential um threat that your mother apparently tells growing up. Like everybody, yeah, okay, whatever, mom. Um, this time you're like, oh shit, he really is. And also find that funny because I really don't think like that's something that I think every kid, everyone our age heard on some level. And I don't think he actually heard that at all. Like his father had obviously nothing to do with him. They came to this island when he was nine. So I find it hysterical that he that this what's the word I'm looking for? This this phrase like um idiom?
SPEAKER_00Something like yeah, I don't yeah, I know what you mean.
SPEAKER_05I don't know what he said, but I know everyone has heard growing up when we're acting up, and I'm kind of like gonna fucking kill myself. But um it's that he's nine, I'm 90% sure he never had that.
SPEAKER_00I'm pretty sure that if his father could have delivered him to another family, he would have he would have Sinefield delivered, he's yours.
SPEAKER_05Like he never heard, I don't think he ever had that interaction growing up, and I find it hysterical that he uses it.
SPEAKER_02Not only does he use it, he uses it in all seriousness, which makes the shit even more funny to me. Oh, I'm so yeah, dark and twisty humor. Like I'm giving you up. Oh, I've been drinking too much help.
SPEAKER_00Keep going.
SPEAKER_02You haven't even said the word yet, and I'm just kind of like, oh neither have you, because I'm thinking, I think I'm gonna think we're both screwed. We'll be very sober by the end of this.
SPEAKER_00Um, we're not that far in, so there's still hope.
SPEAKER_02I hope so.
SPEAKER_00In the jungle, Kate approaches Sawyer because she wants to go back. Shucker, but he's not interested. She realizes that he's not himself. On the water, Desmond is finally waking up only to start being shot out by Mikhail from the beach. He jumps in the water and heads for the station. Luckily, he arrives as the women are in the control room arguing, so he has time to hide. Flashback to shaking to a shaky hand Jack in the hospital looking at the chart of the woman he saved. The new chief of surgery comes in and introduces himself. And you remember who the old chief of surgery was, right?
SPEAKER_05Yes. It took me a half a second, leave me alone. Yes. Who was it? Mr. Slater. I'll give Christian Sephard.
SPEAKER_00Definitely Christian Slater.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Can you imagine Lost meets Heathers?
SPEAKER_00Like I mean, that would be a good that's not that much of a leap.
SPEAKER_02Let's Grey's Anatomy meets Heathers, i.e. Dr. Slater and Lost.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'll give you I'll give you this trivia now. The scenes in the hospital were actually filmed on the Gray's Anatomy set.
SPEAKER_05Oh, that's so cool. Same channel. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Funny that I said that, huh?
SPEAKER_05I set you up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know. You did it on purpose, we know.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, because I read your mind.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes I worry.
SPEAKER_05See, that's easy. I don't think at all anymore. So it's quite easy to do that.
SPEAKER_00Jack wants to operate, but the chief says no. It's not his patient. And Sawyer decides he's going back and doesn't need Jack's permission. Kate wants to go, and Sawyer says no because he doesn't want to go with her.
SPEAKER_05Nanny, nani, boo-boo.
SPEAKER_00Juliet offers to go because she knows where there are hidden guns. She gives Jack a smooch and heads out with Sawyer. She kisses Jack, and Kate is watching them like almost like I don't know if it's jealousy or disgust or all the above. Okay. Um underwater at the station, Mikhail arrives at the looking glass, surprised to see the ladies. Ben told that Ben told him that they were in Canada, realizing that Ben lied about something else, and only to find out that he also then lied about jamming transmissions. Ben calls and asks and asks Mikhail to trust him. He says the jamming was for everyone's security. He also tells him to help him by killing Charlie as well as Greta and Bonnie. He's like, listen, I know I lied about everything that I told you, but you but really you gotta trust me now because now I'm telling the truth.
SPEAKER_01Oh man.
SPEAKER_05In the jungle. And I'm just watching, like I thought like a victim of his gaslighting, and I'm just watching the damn TV show.
SPEAKER_00In the jungle, Jack checks up on Kate and tells her he loves her. It's like, I know I just made out with Juliet, but I love you. In another part of the jungle, Juliet tells Sawyer that they were breaking and hauling rocks for an alien runway. Oh, and also there's no guns. She says she's going back because of karma. But before Sawyer could tell us why he's going back, Hurley shows up. He wants to go because he wants to help. Sawyer says no because he'll get in the way and get them killed. So they part ways. Again, somebody turns Hurley away. So sorry for Hurley. Hurley. Ben tells Alex he's delivering her delivering her to her new family because she betrayed him. He says he didn't want Carl to get her pregnant. And she wants to know why he can't just let them leave. And he says, because I said so. No, he says, because he can't.
SPEAKER_05We then kind of right, like because I said so. Yeah, okay. Locke we both all know that.
SPEAKER_00You you know, you would think that Locke was um locked, that Ben was raised uh as uh with a that I don't know what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02I said because we both all know that, and then you stuttering, we're hot.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say as a gen that Ben was raised as a Gen Xer, because I swear this is like our parents talking to us because I said so. Deliver you to your new family.
SPEAKER_05We're ex. We're our ex, the best generation there is.
SPEAKER_00We're like right at the end, but we're ex.
SPEAKER_05It's definitely the best of both worlds.
SPEAKER_00Hell yeah.
SPEAKER_05And then what and I really feel it that while everyone's arguing with each other over stupid shit, we're just in the background drinking our wine. Bottoms up, trying to fix things from the back because you guys are in the way. Yeah, okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00The scene cuts to Locke's left eye in the skeleton ditch. He can't move his legs and he's struggling. He sees a gun and manages to get it. He puts it to his head, but before he can fire, Walt shows up. We haven't seen Walt in a while. Like a whole two seasons. Well, like in a whole season.
SPEAKER_05I remember when I see him. Now I'm like, okay, now I know I'm I remember why he didn't make it. Like why they I don't want to say killed his character, but why they got rid of his character. I'm like, damn.
SPEAKER_00He got real tall.
SPEAKER_05When we puberty hit like um like a wrecking ball in a good way, like it just overnight this kid went from a 10-year-old kid to like a world man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yep. Walt says, Walt tells him to get up and to get out of the ditch because he has work to do. That is how we end part one. So look, your man is alive. Barely, but he's alive.
SPEAKER_04I told you he wasn't gonna get killed. I wasn't too worried about it.
SPEAKER_00We'll see what happens next episode.
SPEAKER_04Hmm.
SPEAKER_00Hmm. Part two. Heavy metal Jack arrives to Hoff's Drawler, funeral home. Hoff's Drawler. You know, you should know already that anytime that you see a strange-looking word, it's an anagram.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, and I and I figured that much, but I was like, yeah, uh Yeah, she'll tell me on the podcast. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00The the biggest clue of this whole episode was in that anagram.
SPEAKER_05What's an anagram?
SPEAKER_00And as he arrives, he almost becomes their next customer because he just walks right into the middle of the street. He enters an empty viewing room where no one showed an unknown person in the coffin, was neither friend nor family. Who is in that coffin?
SPEAKER_05That's the only thing that I actually want to like. I'm like, well, who could it be? What's going on? What's happening?
SPEAKER_00I know who's in it. I know who's in it. Of course, you I know who's in it.
SPEAKER_05You're like that. Like, I'm not touching you.
SPEAKER_00Look, look, look. I'm not touching it.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna mute me.
SPEAKER_00Almost at the radio tower, the Losties meet Benry who wants to talk. Uh oh. I was like, they they show they walked and they saw him and they're like, what the fuck? Like, oh, okay. At the looking glass, Mikhail asks the ladies a lot of questions and then he shoots them. But before he could kill Bonnie, Desmond shoots him with the spear gun. Ah, off the island. Jack wants another oxy refill and freaks when they threaten to call his dad's office. He leaves, but not before knocking down a sunglasses display. Jack agrees Oh, on Island, Jack agrees to have a five-minute chat with Ben, and Ben hints at the purge. He tells Jack that Naomi is not who she says she is, and that Jack is about to get his people killed because Ben is the good guys. Ben wants the phone and Jack refuses. So Ben calls Tom and tells him to shoot the beach three if he doesn't hear his voice in 60 seconds. Jack still refuses, and then pop, pop, motherfucking pop, pop.
SPEAKER_05Oh that's oh you knew a new rap. Like an intro. Our new intro. No? Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Jack is now crying because he just killed his friends. So he beats Ben's ass to make up for it. Then he walkies Tom and tells him he's gonna get him too. All he needed was a little dog, right? And your little dog too. In the looking glass, Charlie wants the code. Well, good thing is good thing Charlie is a bloody rock god because the system was programmed by a musician. The code is good vibrations. In the jungle, Alex catches Rousseau staring at her. So Ben introduces her to her mother. And then they tie him up together. Very sweet moment.
SPEAKER_05It was a beautiful bonding moment for mother and daughter.
SPEAKER_00Jack fills Kate in on what happened, but tells the worst secret keeper on the island to keep it a secret. Although, when it comes to Jack, she's she's actually not too bad.
SPEAKER_05But alas the only time she spilled the secret was when Jack wasn't privy to the secret.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_05So it really wasn't about the secret per se, it was about Jack.
SPEAKER_00But alas, back at the beach, Ryan didn't kill them. And Sawyer and Juliet arrive in the bushes. As they talk about how fucked they are, they hear a noise coming from the jungle. Here comes Hurley saving the day in the BW van. He drives onto the beach despite gunfire and runs right over the others. Sawyer finds a gun and Said trips and chokes out another, even though he's bound and gagged. Said is a motherfucking badass. That's two down. We see Tom crawling for a gun, but Juliet steps on his hand and grabs the gun. He gives up, but Sawyer shoots him anyway for taking the boy. Off island, Jack is raiding the hospital drug stash, but is caught by the chief because he's sloppy and keeps falling. The chief wants to talk to Jack in his office, but Jack says, Anything you can say to me there, you can say it to me here. He always says that. He says he knows that Jack caused the accident because the lady was distracted by the man on the bridge. And instead of answering what he was doing on the bridge, he starts asking if the chief knows what he's been through and says to get his father down there, and if he's drunker than Christian, then the chief can fire him. The chief is only trying to help, but Jack says he can't help. We're gonna come back to the scene because it's a little hard to talk about it now.
SPEAKER_05Yes, I know exactly. Like I could yes, because I wanted to say something, but I'm like, no, we have to come back to it and say it. Yeah, on the same page.
SPEAKER_00As the survivors are walking to the tower, the walkie sounds with an announcement from Hurley to the others telling them to stay away from the beach. Jack walkies and Hurley fills him in on everything. Sawyer is having a well-deserved hot beer, and Benry is pissed that his cronies disobeyed him. In the looking glass, Charlie and Desmond are finishing up their mission. Desmond is getting the diving packs while Charlie tends to the yellow light. He does it. He turns the light off, and immediately a call is coming in. It's Penny. It's like all is well, wonderful. Charlie asks her about the boat, but uh-oh. Desmond then realizes Mikael is not dead again and is outside the station with the grenade.
SPEAKER_03What the fuck is up with him?
SPEAKER_00How many times does she have to die? Is it one the Avengers?
SPEAKER_05Like what the hell?
SPEAKER_00He runs to Charlie and Penny, but Charlie closes the hatch door to protect Desmond. As the equipment room starts flooding, the music turns emotional and somber as he uses his trusty Sharpie to write not Penny's boat on his hand for Desmond to see. He does the sign of the cross and then succumbs to his fate as Desmond can only just watch. That was a rough scene. It really was.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, it was I didn't see exactly how the looking glass was set up. I think I got a pretty good idea. But I feel like if they didn't close the like I feel like he had time to sit the switch and then close the door and get out. Like I feel like there was the way he could have like you don't feel like he had to die.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that that's actually one of my notes. Because it's is that, and then there's a little bit more that I wanted to say about it, so we'll come back to that.
SPEAKER_05Copy that boss.
SPEAKER_00Just as Charlie dies in the jungle, Aaron starts crying and the phone starts to work. Naomi tries calling out but can only hear Rousseau's message. Good thing they've arrived at the tower. Danielle says she recorded the message 16 years ago, three days before Alex was born, and she shuts it off. Naomi tries to get a signal, and Kate is optimistic. Ben is protesting and says the call is the beginning of the end. Naomi gets a signal, but before she can make contact, she dies due to a knife thrown in her back. Oh, lock is back. He did what he had to and tells Jack to stay away from the phone or he'll shoot him. Ben cheers him on and Rousseau elbows him in the face.
SPEAKER_05The look on her face as she did the way she did it, I was like, damn, I felt that.
SPEAKER_00Ben is like, yeah, shoot him. As Locke holds the gun on Jack, Jack doesn't hesitate. He tells Loc to do it if he has to, but Locke caves and tells him he's not supposed to do this. Just then, Minkowski answers. Locke heads to the radio tower as Jack explains to the guy on the phone and gets them all rescued. Or does he? Off the island. And we don't know what Locke was up to. We see Locke walking off towards the radio tower, so who knows what he's up to? Off the island, Jack sits in his filthy and neglected apartment and calls someone who may hang up on him. He asks them to meet him because he needs to see them. Jack goes to a back road by the airport and who shows up? It's Kate. Wait, what is happening? Did they know each other in the past? But wait. They chat and she asks why he called. He shows her the article and that he hoped she'd go to the funeral. He tells her he's been flying a lot, thanks to the golden pass they gave him, and hoping the plane would crash. Jack says he's sick of lying and they made a mistake. Kate says she has to go because he will be wondering where she is. Jack tells her they were not supposed to leave and then utters one of the most memorable lines in TV history. We have to go back, Kate. We have to go back. And we realize that all those flashbacks were actually flash forwards. Or were they? Hear me out. Hear me out. Hear me out. Okay. Typically, with very few exceptions, the episode opens present day on the island, and then we have intermittent intermittent flashbacks. The episode opened in a flash forward. Is that the present day? And the island is the flashback. I mean, starting this. I really don't know the proper answer to that question. I'm just kind of throwing it out there.
SPEAKER_05I just know when I first started, when I first watched it, I'm like, oh, this happened after Thailand. Because he had the beard. I'm like, okay, after Thailand.
SPEAKER_00And every episode this season where we see him, I mean, he's he's kind of a mess. You know, he's not he lost Sarah. He's he's like stalking her, and he's in Thailand, and you know, he's just not like he's on a downward spiral. So then you see this episode and you think, oh, you know, he's just she's pregnant, so that that must have like really fucked with his head, and you know, all this shit, like he got his father fired, you assume, right? From ratting him out, and so you think that he's just like really on this downward spiral, and and and you never saw it coming. No, I should have held it in the first time.
SPEAKER_05So, and then I know we want to talk about when he's like, Get my father down here, and I'm like, Okay, yeah, whatever. And then you're like, wait, flash four, like, oh shit, flash four. Wait, his father is dead in this what what the fuck, dude? You just prove how fucked up he was, right?
SPEAKER_00Because when he's in the pharmacy and they say that they're gonna call the office, he he doesn't want them to call the office, like he knows well enough that they can't call the office because then they're gonna say, um, Christian Shepherd is dead, right?
SPEAKER_05Because, but as a watcher, you're like, oh, he doesn't want his father to not like he saw his pad, whatever. You really don't think what it is. It's like, oh.
SPEAKER_00Right. And then somebody calls him a hero twice over. And you're thinking, if you paid attention to that line, you're thinking, oh, because he saved the woman and her child.
SPEAKER_05Right, from the first accident.
SPEAKER_00But really, it's because plane crash, car crash. Right.
SPEAKER_05I thought it thought it was the car crash, and then the other acid, the one that how he met Sarah. Like, I didn't even think about the the baby.
SPEAKER_00I didn't even think about Sarah.
SPEAKER_05But I didn't even think about, but like obviously not the plane crash, but it all hit me. It was like it was like a scene from a movie with everything started flashing.
SPEAKER_00I knew I when you text me, I was like, yes. That's why I didn't want you to watch, just in case. I didn't want you to watch until we were ready to record because it would have kind of ruined the surprise.
SPEAKER_05It would have shadowed, it would have my thoughts on things.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Inadvertently. Right, right.
SPEAKER_00Let's do some quick trivia. Fine. Fine. The two or three whispers that Locke hears as he is about to shoot himself, and seconds before Walt appears to him are very unclear. The most agreed on interpretations are help me, Naomi, I don't know that name, and I have hell to pay.
SPEAKER_05Who what? Like, who thought about those things?
SPEAKER_00Who people, people are like you thought I was in a rabbit hole? Oh no, they built the rabbit hole. Okay.
SPEAKER_05All right. Yeah, I'm not saying anything.
SPEAKER_00Okay. According to the enhanced version of this episode, this you're gonna love this one. This is about your favorite thing. The mission Charlie goes on to stop the jamming was partly inspired by Han Solo's mission on Endor during Return of the Jedi. And you have no idea what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_05I have an idea. Like, I may not have seen all the movies straight through, but I've seen bits and pieces of all of them, so I get the gist of the comments, smartass.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Through the course of the episode, Jack is called a hero by three people. Jack's license plate is 2s AQ321, the same as Catherine Keener's character, Trish, in the 40-year-old version, and one of the Mini Coopers in the Italian job. The bridge scene was the only scene to be filmed on location on the US mainland.
SPEAKER_05They don't have any bridges in um Hawaii.
SPEAKER_00I guess not. Hoff's drawler.
SPEAKER_05No idea.
SPEAKER_00Flash forward.
SPEAKER_05Oh. Okay. Alright.
SPEAKER_00That's it for trivia. Let's look at some of the themes. On the island, Locke contemplated suicide. And off the island, Jack contemplated suicide. And as we've seen, there's always been a lot of um focus on the dynamic between these two characters. And here you are on the island saying Jack is like adamant, we have to get off, we have to get off. And Loc is like, no, no, no. And then off the island, now Jack is the one wanting to commit suicide because he's like, We gotta get back, we gotta get back, we gotta get back.
SPEAKER_05What could possibly be going on that they gotta get back to the island?
SPEAKER_00Oh, and no, go ahead. No, that was it.
SPEAKER_05Okay, it's one of those things like what could possibly but then back to my theory, you're right. Are they really back? Are they really off the island? I don't know. How does that work? Because they're purgatory anyway, they were already dead. So are they really off the island, so to speak?
SPEAKER_00Excuse me while I bang my head into this wall right here.
SPEAKER_05I like that we nutsy cuckoo. When but to be fair, on some like lost kind of wavelength, like it's quite possible that they're not being off island, like you know, I know they might be in one another hash, you know, like the Truman show, yes. So it could like but it could be anything, these fucking people with this show. The rider was also good shit. It was a good shit.
SPEAKER_00Definitely. Let's talk about Desmond and Charlie. When they were after they killed, well, after they thought they killed Mikhail, and Greta and Bonnie is dead. Charlie asks, what are dead? Yeah, Charlie asks if if Desmond has had any flashes, and he says, No. Do you think that's because it's like cartoon logic? Like he got hit in the head again. Remember, Charlie hit him with the ore. So do you think he just knocked the flashes like right out of his head, like the cartoons, like when you have amnesia? Like Looney Tunes Law.
SPEAKER_05You know what? I could see that happening. Um, yeah, he made that, yeah. I don't know. That's exactly what happened. Oh, he actually had the flash that the universe wanted him to have, so okay. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00All right, now we're gonna go back to Charlie's death. The grenade breaks the window and the water water starts flooding in. I definitely think that they had plenty of time. The transmission was already turned off, the uh the jammer was already turned off, and Desmond said that there was plenty of diving equipment. So that room was huge. I feel like he didn't have to die, or he could have closed the door with him on the other side of it, right? That's why I feel like he could have d-da-da-da-da. Like, you know, I feel like and then because his his his quote unquote job was done, you know, he turned off the blinking yellow light. I feel yeah, but is his is Claire's rescue, as Charlie, as Desmond said, contingent upon Charlie's death. I think that's why he did it that way. Which is which is a sucky thing, you know? And the fact that he did it so willingly, he just you know, all the other times he didn't know how he was gonna die. You know, Desmond told him I I saw your death after afterwards, like, oh, when Claire did this, you did this, and then you died.
SPEAKER_05When this happened, you did this, and then but to go into know if I do this, I'm going to die is just like my fuck.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm. Yeah, definitely. Any guesses on who's in the coffin?
SPEAKER_05Somebody from the island. I just don't know who.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And then Jack says he's tired of lying, and he guesses on what they're lying like.
SPEAKER_05No idea. I'm literally like, I have no idea.
SPEAKER_00And Kate says he will be wondering where I'm at, or something like that. Who's he?
SPEAKER_05Could it be Sawyer, or that's just too obvious of an answer?
SPEAKER_00I will say this. When I watched this the first time, that was my guess too. And I'm not gonna say right or wrong, I'm just gonna say that's exactly my guess.
SPEAKER_05I'm like, she was Sawyer, but then like, is that too obvious of an answer? I don't know. Uh it's just weird, or maybe like, and then I'm like, do they go back? And then I'm just like, how does she have her life? Because technically speaking, she's still a wanted person. So I feel like all of this, something's missing. I feel like they didn't go back to their lives. I feel like they went back to another version of their lives. That makes sense, so yeah, I don't know. I mean, they went, I don't think they went back to their lives because something's missing.
SPEAKER_00So, some other similarities in both timelines, Jack spends the entire episode trying to make a call. And at the end, in the flash forward and on the island, he completes his call. One is to Kate and one is to the ship. How do you think those calls went?
SPEAKER_05Explain to me how they went.
SPEAKER_00Well, the one on the island, uh, he successfully reached out to the freighter and it's to get them rescued.
SPEAKER_05I think we can assume that somehow somehow one would assume, I think you can assume, but one could assume that they got rescued based on the flash forward.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Maybe what I mean is, do you think that it was a positive? Oh like him completing that call. Was it a good thing?
SPEAKER_05Oh, either one of them was completing those calls a good thing or not. I don't know. Because this is lost. I mean, you're virtually like, oh yeah, you're gonna get saved. But obviously, you didn't, I don't think they got saved. I feel that's what they're lying about. Boom, it's not really their lives, they're like they're like a parallel life or something and a parallel world, and it's not something's not right. Because remember if they said that they died, like they found all the bodies, but somehow the bodies are right here, right? So they went back into that wrong because the parallel universe. Oh my god, so they got oh, oh my god, mindful. Keep going, keep going. Okay, so they have to get that's what he's lying. That's what they're lying about, like their lives are not their lives, or they feel like he's he's so Christian really isn't dead in this in this life, so he's not as fucking crazy as we think he is. Oh my god, oh they gotta get back. Oh, okay, my head hurts. You look like you had a you were about to have an orgasm, and I just stopped right before you came.
SPEAKER_00Remember the last episode? I went on this whole tangent about the looking glass.
SPEAKER_05Yes, okay.
SPEAKER_00So this time, instead of me trying to struggle through it, I'm going to read the wiki like summary of it because it it much better explains.
SPEAKER_05But I think everyone has read The Looking Glass, and if not, they at least have an idea about it.
SPEAKER_00I don't think so. I think I think a lot of people get their information from Disney.
SPEAKER_05That being said, worst case scenario is still gonna find the correlation between the two. You don't think so?
SPEAKER_00I don't know, but I'm gonna read it.
SPEAKER_05Go forth and read.
SPEAKER_00Okay, it's the sequel to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and Alice again enters. A fantastical world this time by climbing through a mirror into the world that she can see beyond it. So that's one thing, right? Because now we're flash forward. So this is the world beyond the island. There she finds that just like a reflection, everything is reversed, including logic. Another nod to the flash forward, right? Because it's not what we think. And then there's also in through the looking glass, there is an overarching theme of chess. And we've seen Ben playing chess. We've gotten the whole one is light, one is dark. And I think that there's small connections, you know, obviously, like the whole white rabbit and through the looking glass, like little whatever references. But I think that the biggest thing is basically the whole everything is not what it seems, and boom, they got rescued, but it's not what it seems.
SPEAKER_05Or did they? Well, I'm gonna have I'm gonna add that to every sentence on outcoming sin outcoming season. Every time we think something, I'm gonna add where is it?
SPEAKER_00On island, all Jack wants is to leave, and off the island, all Jack wants is to go back. So how's this for some shit, right? And the man behind the curtain, Ben gassed everybody, and Richard asked if he wanted the others to go back for his dad, and Ben said no leave him there. Had they gone back, Curly would have never foiled his plans because he never would have found the van.
SPEAKER_05Interesting.
SPEAKER_00What do you make of Walt appearing to Locke?
SPEAKER_05How, why, any well, you know, he's the first one that said Walt was special. So it's not really that he heard voices. Like, I mean it's kind of it makes sense he would see Walt if he was gonna see anybody. I wonder what Walt had to do with why they why they wanted Walt. And then apparently Jacob and the supernatural shit going on in that cabin. I wonder. Okay.
SPEAKER_00We have to go back. We have to go back. That's it. It ends. We have to go back.
SPEAKER_05I have a feeling that I'm gonna wake up and then it's gonna be like, I don't know. Um I hear is we have to go back, and I feel like I'm gonna wake up in a different life. That's not the like that I know. Thank you, Lisa. Completely fucking my head.
SPEAKER_00You're welcome. Unless there's something else that you want to talk about.
SPEAKER_05I think I feel like loss has really tapped into the whole Mandela effect in a way.
SPEAKER_02I can I can get with that. All right, I'm going to sleep now. My head is all fucked up. I'm gonna go I'm gonna pop some pills and fix them out. I don't know what the fuck I want to do.
SPEAKER_00And just you wait for season four. Just you wait, just you wait.
SPEAKER_05Oh shut up.
SPEAKER_00Actually, before we get to season four, so this is technically our last episode for season three. This is the finale. The next time we will be back with an episode about missing pieces, which will probably only end up being one episode because there's I think there's 13 of them, and they're all really short.
SPEAKER_03I think a total of 33 minutes for total. Yeah, like all the trailers, they're like little trailers.
SPEAKER_00So I think we can knock that out in one episode, and um, this is gonna be the first time that I'm watching them, so that's they're new to me. And then we will we'll mix in our fan favorites. We have a couple of people who express some interest, so hopefully that pans out. You know what, Lisa?
SPEAKER_05Oh as much as I just I don't like this show, I really don't. It has some good parts, but I never watched it other other than it wasn't for you. But I really, really, really enjoy our band favorite episodes.
SPEAKER_00I do too.
SPEAKER_05I really do.
SPEAKER_00I really do. So we just the our problem mostly is just scheduling, you know. So we're gonna we're gonna keep working that out, and um, yeah, I'm I'm really hopeful.
SPEAKER_05We have uh everyone's favorite, fan favorite recorder, Jamar coming back.
SPEAKER_00If he comes back, this is gonna be his third time. Um excited. You know how do you watch Saturday Night Live?
SPEAKER_05No, sorry.
SPEAKER_00When it gets when when a host hosts five times, they get inducted into the five timers club and they got a blazer. Oh we're gonna we're gonna have to do something special for like the third time because this isn't you know SNL, but right.
SPEAKER_05So oh, we'll figure it something out. Maybe a shot glass or something, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right. Actually, I just put some of those in my shopping cart. I was designing them, so maybe we maybe uh what can I say?
SPEAKER_05I'm right here. I actually so I'm in my brain. I'm in your brain, it's so roomy in there.
SPEAKER_00Oh god. Okay, in addition to fan favorites and missing pieces, we also are working on a season three recap and a season four look ahead.
SPEAKER_05So that should be fun because it should be also be short because season three suck ass. There you go. So it should be short and sweet and straight to the point.
SPEAKER_00But we have said, that's all I had to say. That's my recap. It sucks. Well done. Boom. But we're also gonna have a trailer for season four, and this is gonna be the first time that you get to watch a trailer for the next season.
SPEAKER_05The trailer, very interesting, it's done very well. I feel like I was in a movie theater waiting, you know.
SPEAKER_00Like oh yes, because you watched it today, right? Yeah, yeah. So we're gonna have that to talk about. So that'll be fun. And uh yeah, we will we will see you guys back here next time. And I think I think that's it for this episode, right? And uh you know what, we'll save it for the next time. We didn't even we didn't even do our words, so just nobody said it.
SPEAKER_05Take the whole jug.
SPEAKER_00I was drinking the whole time anyway.
SPEAKER_05What was can we are we gonna use the same word or different word?
SPEAKER_00We can use the same words, nobody knows it.
SPEAKER_05But obviously, I don't think we're gonna think that okay, that's fine. I mean, I thought I had a good word and you never said it. You know, and then I had a I thought at least we said once. Yeah, these are but to now I'm looking at the words. These are hard words, with the exception of one, to say if you want to get drunk. Like none of these are conducive to getting drunk, except for one of them. And I think that's kind of funny. Oh, you know what? I think we should make the other one try to say the word.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay, next time. Subtly, yeah. Okay, yeah. So when we do missing pieces, that's the way we're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_02Woof, woof, woof, woof.
SPEAKER_00All right, Arsenio. Let's go.
SPEAKER_02And the dog pound.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we just aged ourselves. What if we haven't already?
SPEAKER_05I'm only in my 20s.
SPEAKER_02Yes, cute times two. I've like to say cute, third power.
SPEAKER_00Okay, all right. So thank you once again for being with us this crazy episode. We ask that you consider supporting our show, either financially or otherwise. If you haven't already, please check out our contest, our season three giveaway. We may extend it as of now. It's gonna run until what did I say, August 5th, I think. Yeah, okay, something like that. Um, but yeah, it's gonna it's gonna run. And we may extend it, but definitely check that out. Oh, we may not.
SPEAKER_05Maybe it may never in your favor.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00But somebody will win. Somebody will win, just like they won the last. Actually, two last time we did two winners. We'll see this time.
SPEAKER_05Uh if we if we get a big if we get a big turnout, we might just have more than one or two winners. I'm just saying, just throw it out there.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So in the meantime, we ask that you never ever ever ever ever drink and drive. Always drink responsibly. And until next time, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And we are out of here.
SPEAKER_05Meow. But you can, and that's what matters. All about you, Lisa. Woohoo!
SPEAKER_00We did another season.
SPEAKER_05We did like a two-season, a two-episode episode, like at 45 minutes. Two episode episode, you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_00But the thing, I think that aside from the whole holy shit flash forward.
SPEAKER_05It was straight to the point.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, there wasn't there wasn't too much, you know, and plus we have to save something for the recap. Otherwise, you're gonna be like, I hate hated it.
SPEAKER_05Two snaps up in a circle.
SPEAKER_00Hated it.
