SPEAKER_01

Hey, I am Lisa, and you are listening to Sass and Sips. And today I am joined for this bonus episode with Amanda from the Siplist Podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Hello. How are you today? I am good. It's Sunday trying to catch up on housework and you know, or installing a new garbage disposal. So that's been fun. Um, this is what adults do on the weekends, but carved out some time for drinking and podcasting. So I'm excited to be here.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. And speaking of drinking, what are you drinking today?

SPEAKER_00

I am having what I have coined the Amanda Mimosa. It's not trademarked, but you know, it's my thing. And it's just champagne and um the orange San Pellegrino sparkling water. It looks delicious.

SPEAKER_01

Um I'm a little jealous right now. I have some red wine, some Pinot Noir, but um Pinot Noir.

SPEAKER_00

Do you know that?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

No, from uh Kimmy Schmidt from I'll I'll send you the link. There's a there's a whole video, this song this guy makes about Pinot Noir, and it's really funny.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I haven't seen it. Yeah. Um yours, yours looks definitely a lot more refreshing than mine, but um, I may have to try that later.

SPEAKER_00

You should. You have to get you have to get the well, for my taste, you have to get just the orange. So the Pellegrino, they have different, they have like orange hair and or blood orange and whatever. And I found that it's just a straight orange that is a good one for this, and it's called it's the Italian word for orange. I don't know how to say it, our areciata or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so yeah, it's good. Yes, I will keep that in mind. Um, today we are going to do a list. Um, we are taking a page out of Amanda's podcast, and we are gonna do the top five WTF moments from laws from seasons one through three. So I have my list ready to go, and I know you're ready to go. Yes, who wants to go first? Well, we we are supposed to say how many we're gonna match. That's how you do it, right?

SPEAKER_00

That that is what I usually do. Yeah, is just we take a guess of how many we'll have in common. And you know, I don't I I think for sure one because one or two that are just like the most obvious, and then the other ones, you know, it kind of depends on how you gauged it because for me it was more about how it made me feel also being a like a oh my god, but also like how it made me feel, so yeah, yeah, I think for sure one. Okay, I was gonna say two. I don't know which two, but I think two. Okay, and just to confirm, because I am not fully caught up, you have completed season three. I need oh yeah, yeah. On the show, we have completed season three. Because yeah, I just want to make sure before I say a couple of them. Okay, cool. Oh, yeah, no, no, but I've seen the whole series, so well, I know, but it for your listeners, I don't want to spoil anything if they haven't seen it or or spoil your show or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

So okay, trying to be respectful.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. Okay, do you want to go first? Yeah, I'll go first. Um, are we doing for those? Oh, I was just gonna say for those who don't know, it's five to one, five being the least favorite, okay, one being the most favorite.

SPEAKER_01

That's exactly what I was about to ask you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what I thought you were gonna say. It's like let me clear that up for people who don't know my show. So um, and for me, and just for you know, overall what I do on my show, whenever we do these top fives, it is not critically acclaimed this or you know, most popular that. It's you personally what you like the best. And so I always try to make that distinction, you know, like if we're talking about, you know, like best horror movies, let's just say, well, that's a very, you know, subjective and critically acclaimed versus what you like are not always the same thing.

SPEAKER_01

So oh, right. Oh, wait, wait until you get my animated list, and then you're gonna be like, uh, what the fuck? So yeah, no, I get it.

SPEAKER_00

So hard for me when you said like overall, I I don't know how I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna have to come up with a plan because I can split it into just Disney princesses and just Pixar and oh yeah, just you know, because there's so many good ones. I'm excited.

SPEAKER_01

I know the problem is that on my end, there's some that I absolutely adore and they're just so obscure. Like most people have just never even heard of them, and so I can't I can't leave them out, right?

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, for mine it will be the ones that I will that I can watch over and over again. Exactly. Like if it's on TV, I'm leaving it on the channel. Exactly. Otherwise, it's every animated movie in the world. Like I love them all, right? Right. So and I know one we're gonna have in common on that one that we've already talked about.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yes, that's that is my number one already. I mean, that was the easiest one. Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

All right, well, I'll tease the listeners for the other half of this. Okay, yeah. That's coming up on the sip list if you uh shortly, shortly. Um, and I don't know how you wrote yours down, but I'll just do mine the way I wrote them down.

SPEAKER_01

Um do you want to do all five or do you want to do five, five, four, four?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, let's yeah, let's do it like that. Okay. Like I'll do my five, then you do your five. And if if we're taking from my playbook, that's how I do it. Okay. Um, okay. So my number five is season one, episode 10, and it's called Raised by Another. And it is the moment when Hurley is doing the census of all the people on the island, and he realizes that Ethan is not on the manifest. I I think people probably could have seen that coming. Watching it a second time, it was more obvious. But the first time I know I was like, What? Like it made sense, but I just wasn't expecting it because you really don't know what to expect on Lost anyway. So I I thought that was a good, like surprising moment for sure. And what's Hurley gonna do with that? Because it's Hurley, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I uh you know, I I considered that one, it didn't make my list, but I did consider it, yeah. Um, so my number five was when we find out in um, I believe it's walkabout, which is like the third episode that Locke had been paralyzed before he crash landed on the island, and it was like the signs were all there once you saw the episode, but at that point you're like, wait a minute, how could this man walk? But he was just in a wheelchair, and it's like, what is going on?

SPEAKER_00

And and it's like the wheelchair makes an appearance, and somebody's like, Whose wheelchair is that? But then you don't really think about it again. Um, so that's actually my number two. Um, it's season one, episode four. I was like, that was uh poor, you know, lock. It's like you want to like him, and then sometimes you don't, but when you just find out all the shit he's been through, I know, like it just breaks your heart, which will you'll get into later in the show when they show more about, but yeah, I definitely didn't see that coming. No, the wheelchair thing, because he seems like such a strong, like it makes sense now, but yeah, yeah, I was definitely one of the sadder character arcs. Very much, very much. I there were definitely some moments of his past that I just cried, like just broke my heart. Like, seriously, seriously. I think I said seriously more when I watched the show than anything else. Thanks, Gray's Anatomy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I couldn't, I couldn't even keep watching Grey's Anatomy after a while. I was like, Oh, this is too much on my soul, but it's a lot.

SPEAKER_00

That that was how I felt about this is us. I stopped watching it and I'm like, when it's over and I can binge it all in a couple of weeks, that's what I'll do. Because I can't cry that hard every single week. I just can't do it. It's so good that it's just draining. Okay, well, so that's one that we have in common. That's my number two. Um, my number four is season two, episode 20, two for the road. And it is when Michael offers to kill Henry and instead kills Anna Lucia and Libby, and then him. Well, he shoots himself in the shoulder, yeah. And he says, I'm sorry. And of course, we find out it's you know to get his son back, which but still, man, that was brutal, and I definitely didn't expect it.

SPEAKER_01

No, no. Um I I think that's actually my number three. Um, and when he shoots himself and Anna Lucia, it's still sorry, that like the cat is like tapping on the door.

SPEAKER_00

Um mine's meowing outside the door.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it was like, what? And but it was like when he shoots Libby, that that was the whole like no, not Libby.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, she was getting blankets for her picnic, exactly just wrong place, wrong time. And god, her and Hurley, I just loved that, you know. And I wanted to learn more about her, you know, because we get that, which I'm sure it's not on your list. I didn't think it was that important, but when we find out she was in the mental institution, that was like a real quick thing, and then it's like okay, well, let's find out more about that. But yeah, there are a lot of sad deaths in this show, and that one really that one really bummed me out, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So, yeah, that that was actually my number three, but my number four was when Anna Lucia shoots Shannon, and I want to say that was maybe collision or you know, when when they meet, and it was so unexpected, and and you're just starting to like Shannon, right? And you're just starting to see her growth, and you know, and here she is kind of instead of being this spoiled little brat, she's taking responsibility for herself, and she was watching Vincent for Walt, and she's in this relationship with Said, and which was so unexpected, and and then just done, yeah, and I was like, wait a minute, what and that's another one, like his grief over Shannon was just so like just oh like so heartbreaking.

SPEAKER_00

I I really like came to like his character and like him as an actor, like I his emotional portrayals were really good, and yeah, it's like we were just starting to actually like this girl, finally, but you know my opinion is that anytime Michelle Rodriguez shows up in anything, something bad's gonna happen. Like, I don't know, it's just her, it's just her as a as a actress. I feel like something's always gonna go wrong when she comes around. But that's that's probably a fairly accurate statement. That one wasn't on my list. Um, I actually thought that happened later, so I think that might be why because I totally would have probably included that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was early season two.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, dang, I thought they had more time together than that, but you're right.

SPEAKER_01

No, it was like a couple of episodes, which in in one way it's like, oh my god, but he's he's been with her for what three days, but I guess when you're on island time, it's three days is like three years for the rest of us.

SPEAKER_00

Wasn't it it wasn't more than three days? Well, I don't know. I mean, I'm just like yeah, I mean, but it wasn't a long time, no, but I mean, we know they had sex, so there was at least that, but also, you know, there had to be more of that going on the island than we recognize.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, why wouldn't you? People have needs, yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

Like, what are you gonna do? You're all just stuck there with nothing else to do, so go for it. Yeah, it gets real boring. Yeah, okay. Well, so that one didn't make my list, but yeah, so far we have two, so that's good. I this my number three is probably the most emotional one for me. Um, it even though the ones we've talked about have been emotional. This one I screamed at the TV. I cried when I watched it a second time with my husband. I cried again because I just wasn't ready. And then the twist that comes with it. Um, so I have two on my list from this same episode, but number three, season three finale through the looking glass, and it's Charlie's death. Um, I was not ready for Charlie to die. I yeah, I was so upset. And then, you know, the message on his hand, not Penny's boat, like that just uh it was brutal. It's like we know it had to happen. He was, you know, he's saving them and he's doing whatever, and he manages to get that message to Desmond, and you see his hand on the glass, and Desmond's looking at him, and I just yeah, Charlie was one of the people I really thought was gonna make it. I think he's the first character that died that I was like, really, right? Like to me, that'd be like if Jack or Kate died or Sawyer, you know. Like, I was like, Really, Charlie?

SPEAKER_01

I you know, and they have such buildup before it, in the sense of um, you know, you have all of Desmond's flashes, and then Charlie dies, but then something happens where he doesn't have to, right? And so you kind of just were like, Oh, this build-up, like Charlie's gonna die, Charlie's gonna die, and then they tell you he's gonna die. So yeah, they tell you, oh well, he's not gonna die, and and then he dies, and you're like, that was so sad, and I know, and and and what miserable, like how miserable it must have been for him, just kind of knowing it and and going down there ready. Um, I I I couldn't even imagine.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, because the guy's like, what does he say? What does he say? He says either um you have to die or you're going to die, something like that. But not but not just yet. Like, yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man. Um that that was my number two, not Penny's book. Okay, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And uh so good. That whole scene was just oh like I know, I'm like getting tearing. Uh I cried so hard, man.

SPEAKER_01

Like, yeah, yeah. I mean, uh there was no getting around it, and Charlie wasn't even one of my favorite characters, like he was fine. I didn't have any like whatever uh negative feelings towards him, but he just wasn't like oh it's Charlie. Like I didn't look forward to his flashbacks, I didn't really look forward to his centric episodes, but he didn't I did I didn't hate him. He was just like he was fun, he was Charlie, he was you know, whatever, but but I didn't think that his death was gonna hit me as hard as it did.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well, and they gave his they gave his character a lot of good backstory, like his character arc was so good that I thought it's kind of like Sawyer, like how you realize that he's maybe not this bad person that you think he is, although I think Sawyer and Charlie are two different kinds of people, but you know, you get all this drug stuff and the stuff with his band and his brother and whatever, and it's just like and then he turns it around, but then when he's on that plane, he's you know still doing the drugs. But right the way he was so protective of Claire and Aaron, like he was just willing to do anything for them. And when you see him before the crash, it's like he's not that kind of guy, and so not really but he had so much growth in that in that little bit of time, and he overcame.

SPEAKER_01

And you wanted to root for him now because look at him like look at what he went through, look at what he overcame, and look at where he is now. Like you said, um he just he had so much love for them, and and and I mean he just made the ultimate sacrifice for them. Yeah, man, I'm getting sad.

SPEAKER_00

I think the only other the only other TV death where I've gotten so that upset was McDreamy, even though I knew it was coming, yeah. I just was still like I think it was because of the way that his happened. You we knew he was leaving the show, so we knew he was probably gonna die. Like, I'd already accepted that, but the way that they did it, it just seems so unfair.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I get a little too involved in this stuff, so they're like our friends, you know, just they don't know us.

SPEAKER_00

So wait, that was your number two?

SPEAKER_01

That was my number two. Okay, so we didn't do your number two.

SPEAKER_00

Which one was your number?

SPEAKER_01

My number three.

SPEAKER_00

Well, my number two is my number two was walkabout. So oh, okay, right. Yeah, and you oh, and your number three was um when Michael shoots Lucia and Libby. Okay, yeah. Well, wow, we're already down to number one. I know. I I have a feeling we this is gonna be the same because I think it's I think it's the overall considered the most shocking moment of the show. Um definitely spoiler alert, it's for me, it's not the polar bear.

SPEAKER_01

So if that's yours, that's not that was like one of the best scenes, yes, but for different reasons. Like, where did it come from?

SPEAKER_00

Bear village, I love it, yeah, exactly. You know, polar bears love islands. Um, but yes, like I said, season three finale through the looking glass, and it's the ending, the first flash forward that we get when Jack tells Kate we have to go back, and yeah, I did not see that coming. So a flash forward and flashbacks in the same episode. First of all, like wow.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I think that all the other ones were flash forwards, and we just didn't realize it. That's how I take it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, but that was the first time we saw them off the island, right? After the crash, after the crash, yeah, right. And so that's what I meant, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And I mean, and and then on top of it, that that is exactly my number one, also. Yeah, but then you have that episode, you have Charlie's death, and and right after you've just had this emotional roller coaster, not Penny's boat, and Charlie is dead. Yeah, you think, like, okay, wow, um, you know, I can breathe now, right? But that that was like the big thing, and then you get this, and they cut, and you're like, What you're kicking me while I'm down. What just happened? It was completely unexpected, like just totally and the decline of Jack's character, like that.

SPEAKER_00

I did not like to see. I mean, not that it's unexpected. I mean, uh, I think it's totally valid for him to have, you know, become a drug and alcohol addict, especially given his family history and what happened to him. But it just I thought, you know, Jack's always been this good guy, and now he's in a pharmacy trying to score some oxy, and then calls Kate and he's like, we have to go back. I'm sorry, what? I um then oh no, and it gave you a few, I'm sorry, it gave you a few little like you know, Kates like I have to go, he's gonna be wondering where I am, and not gonna spoil it, but he isn't who you think he is, right?

SPEAKER_01

Because that when they um revealed who he was, it was kind of a letdown. I was like, really? That I wasn't expecting that. Like for sure, I wasn't expecting it, but I was expecting something juicier.

SPEAKER_00

I I actually really liked it. That that would have made my list. I mean, I totally get what you're saying, too. Um, had it happened sooner, that might have been on my list just because it it made me happy for a minute.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I can see that. I I I can agree with that.

SPEAKER_00

It just I guess we were all hoping that it was a different type of someone, and I'm trying to not ruin it, no, I know, yeah, I think that would have been more of the letdown for me, not in a bad way, like I would have been fine with it, but it wouldn't have been a surprise, true, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, I can I can agree with that.

SPEAKER_00

I see what you're saying, but yeah, I think you're both have that, yeah. It's uh probably one of the best episodes of the whole series and definitely one of the best finales. Um, you know, there was a lot to unpack in there. I I'm like so ready to watch it again.

SPEAKER_01

I wanted to watch it again today, too.

SPEAKER_00

Uh just I thought about it. Yeah, like uh I'm a little too emotional for that. Um I had a few other ones like that didn't make the top five, but um like finding out that Claire and Jack were half brother and sister, I thought was a good twist.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't write that one down, but that is a good one.

SPEAKER_00

And and for us to know it before Jack and Claire know it, I thought was pretty cool. I yeah, I like when we know something the other characters don't. Like, I think that's I like that.

SPEAKER_01

They definitely did write that in well. Um, and and you had a little bit of the clues, but then when you're finally able to put it together, you're like, oh my god, and they don't even know. So that was nice, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and um, I also had you know, them finding Desmond and the whole Dharma button thing that he's you know, the whole do you think they just put you down here to see if you would just press the button every 108 minutes? And it's like I think about that all the time, yeah. Um, and then Hurley seeing the numbers on the hatch that are his lottery numbers. I thought that was yeah, fair nobody else cared.

SPEAKER_01

There are so many like what the fuck moments when it comes to the hatch. My honorable mention about the hatch was just when um Locke is pounding and he's like, but I did what you wanted, and then the light comes on because I felt like that was like to me, I didn't expect that. I just felt like, oh, look at look at Locke, he's just mad because it didn't work, da da da. And right. But then the light comes on, and it's like, wait a minute, wait a minute, there's something there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he was right.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then my other honorable mention is kind of like two. It's uh Mr. Friendly. And the first one is when they're on the raft, and he's like, Well, hey, you know, that's great. Yeah, hey, look, we found you, but you know what? We're gonna have to take the boy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that guy creeped me out. Yeah, and the other I definitely wasn't expecting, I'm sorry, that when he would the way he just matter-of-factly said it, we're gonna have to take the boy, right? What? Right, just I literally said out loud, I'm sorry, what?

SPEAKER_01

And when they meet up with him um in the middle of the woods, and he's like, Yeah, well, we're we're gonna want your weapons, and you know, and Jack is like, no, we we can take you, and this and that, and he's like, light them up, and then all the door just come on here, like, yeah, okay, what just kidding, just kidding. Here you go. Here's my here's my gun. You can have it. I was just take it. It's so many good moments, like yeah, so many, so many that you just sit and watch and like, what did I just watch?

SPEAKER_00

Um, it was really about putting Boone's death in there too. It was, yeah. Um that one wasn't so much of a shock as I just was sad about it. I I didn't want that to happen, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

No, although I do um have to say that I like the memes around Boone's death where it's like he survived a plane crash to be killed by a crashed plane, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's so sad.

SPEAKER_01

It really is, but this show does that well.

SPEAKER_00

They do, yeah. At that point when he died, I was going, what the hell? That should have been Shannon. Why are they killing Boone? And then, of course, you know, and then when she does it, Shannon better.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're like, Why? Why did you take her away? Why are you doing this to us? Like, damn it. Um, Agnes Agnes is like says that Lost is like the ultimate fuck boy. She's like, it just the show just plays with your emotion, just gives you a little takes it away, and just plays with your emotion. I was like, Wow, I've never heard it described, I think, that accurately before.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I that feels exactly right. It's like one of the worst relationships I've ever been in. Like, and then even so, not to talk about it, talk about it, but I know the first time I watched the show, the ending, I was like, Are you fucking kidding me? Right? Me too. When I watched it a second time, I actually liked it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, or it felt appropriate, I guess. Right, it felt like it's what was supposed to happen.

SPEAKER_01

But it was a lot, like they had so many threads, so and I guess it just was impossible to give us answers to everything, and so I don't know. Maybe they had to pick and choose which ones they wanted to complete, but some of them it's like, but whatever happened to you know, such and such, and why this? And but at the end, it does it does wrap up pretty nicely.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think the show got a little out of control for a couple of seasons where it's like, okay, because I remember kind of thinking, do I really still want to watch this? But I was already so invested that right, and I'm glad I finished it. Um, and then watching it, it was fun to watch it with my husband because he hadn't seen it before, and I had already seen it, so it was interesting. And he actually liked the ending watching it the first time. He thought it was because I've heard a lot of people say how much they hate it, and I'm like, No, you gotta watch it again.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I just remember being so confused the first time, like yeah, I have no like I feel like I have no idea what's going on, and and I've watched the whole thing and I've seen some of the episodes multiple times up until that point, and the finale was such a big deal to us, and like we were all just ready to watch, and and and I remember feeling like what yeah, it's kind of a letdown, yeah. Like it just it was it was something that it took a minute to get to understand, and then it made sense. And you know, in hindsight, yeah, it's great, but when you're in that moment, it's like I guess you just want the instant gratification, right? And we should all know that that's not what loss is known for, so exactly, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

As people, we want everything tied up in a pretty little bow, and that's just not how life really works, and you know, but for especially for our entertainment, unless it's a true story, it's like answer all my questions, leave me satisfied, otherwise I'm mad at you. But it's more artistic to not do it that way, so you know, yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll have to do this again after you get through some more seasons because there's so many more just good ones.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_01

I like I could already in my head, I'm like, oh, and then there's this moment, and then there's this moment, and although actually I just thought of another honorable mention. Um we get Ben's backstory and you see him as a kid, and Richard comes running out of the forest, and he's the same age, and you're like, I that was 30 years ago, yeah. When you find out he doesn't age, like and and Ben is like, you remember birthdays, don't you? And you're like, What am I missing here? What is his skincare routine?

SPEAKER_00

For real, like yeah, yeah, that was definitely good too. I couldn't remember when that happened, but I did think of that. It was it was late season three.

SPEAKER_01

Um, okay. I mean, and then like I'm only thinking of even more now because then Ben starts telling Locke about the magic box, and then when you open it and it's his father inside, and you're like, uh what?

SPEAKER_00

Who, how, what, why? Yeah. Oh, now that's just making me sad about Locke again. Like, damn, that's right. Wow.

SPEAKER_01

And this is after you find out how he got into the wheelchair. So was that, yeah, because I remember when that happened.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was late season three. Oh, damn, I would have put that on my list.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because you didn't expect that.

SPEAKER_00

No, definitely when you find out how he became paralyzed. I I will say that moment, what he what happened. Well, I mean, I guess we can say it since it already happened. When he, you know, what's he he pushes him off the building?

SPEAKER_01

Through the window, yeah, and and out of the building. He fell like I think 12 stories, eight stories, something like that. I can't believe he lived. Well, and then after all that is when Ben brought him the father to the island. And as soon as he opens the box and and Locke is like, Dad, how are you still calling this man dad? You should be, you should he should open that and you should be like, Oh, motherfucker, yeah, I'm gonna cut you. Like, but he's like, Dad, no, that's not your dad. It it it just it just doesn't get better, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It really doesn't, and that's why Locke loves the island so much, he's living his best fucking life there, right?

SPEAKER_01

Right, it's all about like the dichotomy of everybody, and you know, on the island, Locke is this badass hunter-gatherer rock star who can throw knives and kill boar and track, and and and people look to him, you know, as somebody who is wise, and off the island, he's paralyzed and he's sad, and you know, his his father took advantage of him, and his mother doesn't want him, and his girlfriend left him. Like, he's just at nothing, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And yeah, I mean, he's actually finally getting to do the walkabout the way he wanted to do it. Of course, he doesn't want to go anywhere, right? Yeah, just like okay, well, you can stay, the rest of us are gonna go, have a nice life, right? Right.

SPEAKER_01

So that's that's pretty much where season three ends. Is um Hurley finds out that Charlie doesn't no, no, no, actually, no, they don't find out. That's I think that's season that's the beginning of season four. Whoops, yeah. Um, yeah, season no season three ends exactly with we have to go back, Kate. Okay, so yeah, that's the ending. Yeah, that's cool. I was like, wait a minute, no, I think that's I think that's might be season four.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and that was an amazing cliffhanger, too. I think that's another reason it was number one, was just that being the last thing you hear, you know what you because he's like, we weren't supposed to leave, yes, we were, and like, and then he's and I'm like, what? And then he's like, we have to go back. What?

SPEAKER_01

Right, because you see them together and you realize that this is the whole this is the person that he's been trying to call the whole episode. And and then you're like, wait a minute, did they know each other before? When you see her pull up, you're like, Yeah, oh my god, a twist. But the twist is that it's the future, it's after, yeah. And and that's even and and that's even like worse, like a bigger revelation than if they knew each other before somehow. Right.

SPEAKER_00

And then they throw in the whole funeral thing. Well, why why would I go to his funeral? And it's like right new, right?

SPEAKER_01

Who's in the box? Who's in the coffin? I mean, I remember, oh my god, sitting on that mystery with my husband for like I don't even know, like it was constant. It was like, oh my god, but who could be and and and what if it's this person? And what if it's this person? Oh, but it can't be this person because and it was just it was so consuming, yeah. And then you find out and you're like, Oh, okay, yeah. And and I like where that story goes, but yeah, but it was like it's just one of those things that this show was so good at, you know, just sucking you in and and just ruining your life.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that whole final scene had so many layers, like I said, so much to unpack with the the the who's in the coffin, the the animosity between the two of them. Like, why do they why does she hate Jack so much? And like, and then who he's he's waiting for me, or he's gonna wonder where I am, and then he, you know, right? It's like how did Kate and Jack get to that point? How did Jack get to his point? And then who are they talking about here? And who are they talking about there? And and we have to go back, what right? And if it's not Penny's boat, then whose boat is it? Right, yeah. She's like, I'm not on a boat, what are you talking about?

SPEAKER_01

And and who are they here for? If not for Desmond, who are they here for? And oh, so much. And then you have like Juliet, just spy versus spy over there. And I mean, she's she's like her own thing, but yeah, yeah, she's crazy. Oh my god, I I I can't wait to just watch the rest of it. I mean, I've I've seen it and and it's like it doesn't even matter. I feel like I'm watching it for the first time again, right?

SPEAKER_00

It's so sometimes I'm like, I wish I had amnesia so I could experience that moment again.

SPEAKER_01

It like even watching it for the podcast, I got the feels all over again. It was so good, it was so good.

SPEAKER_00

It really is. It's I mean, Kate's whole backstory too, is a whole other and I can't remember when we find out stuff, so I won't spoil anything, but there everybody has such a crazy backstory, right? It's like, did they just gather the island called all the most fucked up people in the world under one plane and brought them there?

SPEAKER_01

Like, yep, yep. Woo! So yeah, oh man, well, that was awesome. So yeah, we pretty much had we had four in common. Three, four, yeah, we have four in common. Wow, yeah, the only one I think is impressive, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it speaks to how the show is very impactful because you know there's lots of stuff going on, but there's certain moments that are just like whoo, yeah. So I have the one with um finding out Ethan wasn't on the on the manifest. What was the one you had that I didn't have?

SPEAKER_01

When Anna Lucia shoots Shannon, yes, okay, okay, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Other than that, they're all the same, and both of those are good too.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, oh man, there were it, it was this was it was hard only because there were so many, but it was fun. This was really fun, yeah, and of course the polar bear.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I didn't put it on the list because it's so obvious, but yeah, right away they get you with a polar bear on a tropical island. What is happening?

SPEAKER_01

And then, and then uh even in the first episode when they're looking for the pilot, and then the the smoke monster takes it, and they're like, Where are we? And you're like, Oh my god, where are you? Am I hallucinating right now? Like, what just happened? Is it a dinosaur? Is it there's no dinosaurs, and then you see a polar bear, so yeah, yeah, it it could be anything apparently.

SPEAKER_00

So, yeah, well, awesome. Yeah, I look forward to listening. I'll be listening to see, and maybe I'll re-watch again. I don't know. I have so much to watch, but it was definitely fun watching it again last year.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, interested to hear you guys unpack all that. Oh, me too. Thank you so so much for doing this. This was so much fun for me. Um, definitely, yeah, a little change in pace, but a really fun episode for sure.

SPEAKER_00

And uh yeah, thank you for having me. And then definitely we'll be doing our animated movies soon. So everybody can um that'll be on my show. It's called the Siblist. Yes, tell for them. Um, yeah, so I'm on all the places where you, you know, get your podcast fix um on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok. You know, I TikTok not as much. I try, but it's a lot to keep up with. Same. Um, you can find everything on my website, it's the siplistpodcast.com. All the links are there, and we'll be doing our top five favorite animated movies in the next week or two. So stay tuned for that. Um, my one year's so good. I love it. Thank you. That's so sweet. My one year anniversary is this week, my sip anniversary.

SPEAKER_01

So congratulations.

SPEAKER_00

Thank you. We will be doing a live show on Thursday, and I will be sending out the link on Twitter. It'll be a Twitch stream. So whoever wants to join, watch the shenanigans and chat in the chat box. Um, that that's gonna be my first time doing it live, so it'll be interesting.

SPEAKER_01

But all right, um, I'm gonna have to try to make room in my calendar to tune in.

SPEAKER_00

That sounds fun, and everybody will get to see our faces, which you know isn't when I record we look at each other, but you know, right. I think it'll be nice to put it'll be me and Casey and Jennifer, they're kind of my most regular guests, so it'll be it'll be fun. I'm excited and can't believe I've been doing this a year, right? Time flies. How long have you been doing your show?

SPEAKER_01

So we started in December of 2019, so it's it's almost two years.

SPEAKER_00

Almost two, awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Um, and it just it just flies by. Um it does. It's so fun though. I mean, we've we've taken breaks here and there, um, you know, life, adulting, uh that fun stuff, but um, but yeah, no, we we actually came up with the concept in like the summer of 2019 and then finally got um like some research and you know things prepared and then released, we're able to release our first episode in December, and it is oh, it's so bad. Oh the audio and yeah, mine too. Yeah, I don't think anybody can say that their first episode was great, but I'm sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's not um definitely gotten a lot better, and you know, and like I've added things to mine that I think have made it a little more fun, so you learn, you grow, right? And yeah, I haven't I've I took a a short like one month break in around June, but other than that, I've been going pretty strong. Yeah, life stuff happens that um yeah, so this has been an interesting year. I'm ready for it to be over.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I hear you on that, but yeah, I'll send that out on Twitter if anybody wants to join in or just see what the show's about. I think maybe watching it live will be interesting. Um, and you can heckle us in the in the chat box. Sounds fun.

SPEAKER_01

Be like, you guys suck. Oh my god, please don't say that. But have you really made it unless somebody is, you know.

SPEAKER_00

That's true. That's true.

SPEAKER_01

Um, the other day, you know how everybody on Twitter does those circles? So I did a circle.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't really understand it.

SPEAKER_01

I don't, yeah. I I finally was like, all right, I cave, I'll do it. So you go to the chirp chirpdy.com and you just put your username in. Okay, you don't have to put in any like anything else, like no passwords or anything. So I was like, fuck it, I'll I'm game. And it comes out with your circles, you know, the people I guess who you interact with the most. Right. And I posted it, and some account on Twitter responded, Wow, I'm glad I'm not there. Like, phew. And I was like, oh my God. But why are you even following our account if you hate us?

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

And so I was just like, I was so insulted. I was like, oh my god, like, dude. But I was like, you know, I'll leave it alone. I'm not, I'm not gonna say anything, I'm not gonna block, I'm not gonna respond, I'm just gonna let it be.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Was it another podcaster though?

SPEAKER_01

No, it was just a person.

SPEAKER_00

Some random Twitter.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, okay, and so then um my friend came over uh the next night, and her and I were you know just sitting on the deck, drinking some drinks, and I was telling her, and she was like, That's awful. Like, who is the person? So we went to the account, and and then let me tell you, that's where the magic happened because we started reading the tweets, and one after the other, we were laughing so hard that like a few times I nearly spit my drink out, and I was like, No, I thought I thought that this man hurt my feelings. I was like, but I should thank him because I don't think I've laughed this hard in in in months, nice, and I was like, I should thank him because this is like gold right here.

SPEAKER_00

And okay, well, now you're gonna have to. I'm gonna have to, I will send it so I could I like to laugh.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, I just I could not stop laughing. I was like, this okay, this Twitter kind of like and we went back to like May reading all the tweets, and we were just like one after the other, this is funny. This is oh my god, and the spelling and the subject, and I know it sounds judgy, but I don't care. I don't know, it was funny, and I'm gonna send it to you right after we okay, good.

SPEAKER_00

I've only had one person say something bad, but it wasn't even bad. It was like, you know, when people post, like, hey, I need a podcast recommendation. Oh, that's why I always will share mine. So I did that. I commented on one, and the person replied, Shut up. And I was like, What? You you asked me, buddy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I know.

SPEAKER_00

It's like uh okay.

SPEAKER_01

I don't I don't even hardly respond anymore. Like, I see the I did I need a podcast recommendation, I'll just like the post, and if they care, they'll look and oh yeah, okay, whatever. And I'm just like, I just can't anymore because some people are like, haha, just kidding, or oh, but not not that, or I don't know, like you can't win, you can't okay.

SPEAKER_00

So that's actually the only one I've ever had that replied something like that. Usually most people don't reply, and the ones I've gotten have been okay, yeah, cool, I'll check it out. Yeah, what I don't like about I I do it because I'm trying to get my podcast out there, but what I don't like is that every single one of those replies shows up as a tweet, and I'm like, I don't want to have to have people filter through 20 tweets just saying, check mine out, check mine out before they get to my good tweets. So maybe I should just do what you do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've I've just like, and then I mean they'll have and but and then so many people say, Oh, people are just asking so that they can get a lot of likes on their tweet. Okay, well, I guess you can add mine in there too. Yeah, who cares? I don't know, whatever.

SPEAKER_00

Like, you're not gonna become Twitter famous just by asking for podcast recommendations. Sorry to break it to you guys.

SPEAKER_01

That's not how you do it.

SPEAKER_00

A million likes on that tweet isn't gonna make you famous.

SPEAKER_01

Like, yeah, I mean, you know, maybe I'll be the one where they'll see like Sass and Sips liked your tweet, and they'll say, Oh, who's Sass and Sips? Or in your case, you know, the sip list like your tweet, and they'll say, Oh, that sounds interesting. I'm gonna go check that out. Uh, you know, I can hope, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Sass and Sips definitely. I was like, Oh, that sounds fun. That's right up my alley. Let's let's do it.

SPEAKER_01

And it's so funny. I mean, basically, just through Twitter, we're like, oh my god, we're the same person.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's freaky, I know it is. I have met so many cool people doing this, like you know, Casey, who I is on my show a lot, and we met through we met through another podcast group. Um, I don't know if you listened to our podcast day episode, but we talked about it. But we've been friends for about a year now, and he's like one of my closest friends, and we've never met in real life. But it's just like you meet people who have similar interests and you bond over it.

SPEAKER_01

There was there was one of your episodes that you were talking about. That um, I don't remember which one it was, but it was also like um you mentioned that you had gone on vacation and somebody else that you had met through, I want to say Twitter, was like, Oh, well, you're coming over here, you know, like let's hang out. And I'm like, that's beautiful, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I love that we didn't get to do it because of logistical stuff, but just somebody would even suggest that I'm like, that's awesome! Like right.

SPEAKER_01

Well, then you got me who listens to your Podcast, like when I'm getting ready for work, and I'm like, Oh my god, you don't like White Castle? Like, sorry, sorry about Brooklyn. That's what was open, you know. Yeah, especially after a night out, you know. Like, what are you gonna eat? Well, nothing goes better with alcohol than Murderburger, so yeah, exactly. I mean, you're gonna pay for it in the morning, but you know, cheers.

SPEAKER_00

You're already paying. Yeah, I mean, you've got the alcohol, you might as well try to soak some of it up with that, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Sorry, White Castle just was like, it's fine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think I think honestly though, I think something like White Castle is a regional thing, yeah. Like if you're if you grow up in, I don't even know if they have it in upstate New York, but like in New York City, it's it was just I don't know. I mean, it's just a thing, you know.

SPEAKER_00

White castle, like California has in and out, which we have now too, but then then Texas has water burger, that's like the White Castle of Texas is What's so yeah, it's definitely regional and you know, whatever, it's cool. I'm it also maybe depends on where you have have it, because like I said, my friend from California said White Castle in Texas doesn't taste like White Castle in California, or not White Castle, in and out, and I think In N Out is delicious, it's fine. I that's that's why I say I'm like it's okay. It's like no, in California it tastes much better, and I'm like, okay, is that is that like bagels?

SPEAKER_01

You know, like because of the water in New York, and so like bagels taste better in New York. I don't know if I'm if it's just like a biased thing because maybe I've pretty much lived in New York my whole life, so yeah, you know, yeah, bagels taste better in New York. I don't know, I've never eaten a bagel anywhere else. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Oh well, if you ever come to Texas, eat a bagel here and see what you think. I think I mean, yeah, isn't there a Panera bread everywhere?

SPEAKER_01

Like that's where I usually get my bagels, or like Einstein brothers, like they're good, they're well, and like Agnes moved to Wisconsin, and so every so often I have to ship her bagels, nice because she says that the bagels there are not the same, and so here I am shipping a dozen bagels to Wisconsin.

SPEAKER_00

That's nice, and you know, I pay her with bagels, so when we had New York bagel in California, I worked at one in college, and let me tell you, putting salmon on a bagel at six o'clock in the morning is not fun. I didn't work at bags.

SPEAKER_01

I really don't eat fish, yeah, but it's like everybody in New York locks, it's it's huge. Like, oh my god, you don't eat that? No, I don't eat that, but people love it, and it doesn't matter at the time.

SPEAKER_00

I don't want a salmon spread ever, but especially not for breakfast.

SPEAKER_01

No, but you see, you say that here, and it's like, what you don't like locks like on your bagel? No, I don't I don't like locks on a bagel in a house with a fox, like it's cues after seuss because nowhere, I don't want it, you know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't but I don't eat fish, like I don't eat seafood at all, so yeah, I'm in the same boat.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, see, like chalk another one up to the similarities to all the things we have in common.

SPEAKER_00

I know we're like separate. Okay, well, I I look forward to the next episode where we get to talk about our favorite animated movie. Yes, I will say that was the one thing that was like, I have never met anybody else that likes that movie, except for my brother.

SPEAKER_01

No, even my own sister, I think, doesn't even like that movie. So you are like the next person that I've met that likes it. I'm not even allowed to watch it with my family because they're like, no, you repeat the words, shut up.

SPEAKER_00

That's funny. So I'll have to watch it again before we record, though.

SPEAKER_01

So right, right. We're gonna have to be like tip top shape.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, I'm so excited. This was so much fun. Thank you. Yes, like I can't thank you enough. I had the best time right now.

SPEAKER_00

Me too, yay. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever you're doing, keep doing it. Um, and if you guys out there who are listening have not checked her out yet, please, please do like seriously. Um, she's I've I'm so addicted lately. Like, even the other yesterday, my daughter was watching The Little Mermaid, and I'm like, you know, just just in passing, I'm like, I think The Little Mermaid probably has like the best songs out of like the Disney movies, and she's like, No, it doesn't. I'm like, well, let's make a list, and like, yep, why? And I'm like, I wait, I don't know why, but I feel inclined to make a list of like my top five some somehow.

SPEAKER_00

Well, that's one that um we are talking about doing. Um the what if you've listened to you like the movie theme ones, we had to split them up into decades because there's just so many.

SPEAKER_01

Listen to some of them, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And so we're talking about doing doing something similar with Disney songs, but like we excluded Disney songs from all those lists. I'm like, Disney needs its own list, like yeah, yeah, Lion King, you got five right there, right?

SPEAKER_01

I have um I have like about 105 different podcasts that I listen to when I shuffle. Oh wow, nice. Oh my god, I'm so addicted. Yeah, yeah, it's it's fun, and so I'm like when I found yours, like I started listening. So if it was before that, then I haven't heard. Gotcha. Um, yep, that's cool. But but I'm like, if if I had the time, I would go back to number one, like for sure. I mean, it's just like there's literally like if I show you, you're gonna be like, why? Why, right? Because right now in my phone, if I show you, like there's like four over four thousand podcasts just downloaded into my phone, and that's dedication. I like it. Yeah, it my husband's like, he's like, You have a problem. I'm like, I do have a problem, but you know what as long as it's enjoyable.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's all that matters. That's why I do this because it's fun, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But um, if you if you also ever do an episode of like, well, I don't know about the top five songs, but maybe we can like move it to like the movies with the best songs I'm in. Okay, yeah, I could think of two right now.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I'm always down for ideas, like like you. I I sent you my list of lists. Oh my god, I think that's not even all of them.

SPEAKER_01

Like, no, and that list was like wow, like, and I started making lists, and I was like, Oh, yeah, this one. I like this, I like this theme, and I can think of like three right here, and I'm just like, I have a problem.

SPEAKER_00

Me too. I mean, but that's why I was excited about this format is that it doesn't limit you to anything. No, it's beautiful, it really works out well, you know, and it it can be diverse, although I will say for the most part, it's movies, music, yeah. But those are great TV shows, but there's so much content out there, yeah. So it could be anything. Well, yeah, you always hit me up with ideas because this was fun, and we'll be having ours this maybe this week. If not, we'll definitely do it next week.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you guys so much for being here for listening. Please don't forget to check out the Sypless podcast, and you can also find all of our information in the show notes. And as always, drink responsibly and don't drink and drive. And until next time, we're out of here.

unknown

Woo!

SPEAKER_01

Bye bye!
