Hi, and welcome to this week's episode of Assassin's Sips. We are about to talk about Lost Season 6, Episode 3, What Kate Does. I'm Lisa, and today I am drinking one of my new bottles of wine.
SPEAKER_03Tell me more about your wine. Tell me more.
SPEAKER_00I picked the grin, I'm gonna butcher it. Grenache Grease. Okay. It's it's a white wine, which you know is not exactly my thing, but I'm like, okay. I just wanna white wine. Yeah, I had just like reached in and grabbed the bottle like in preparation of the episode, and that's the one that I grabbed.
SPEAKER_02I love that completely a blind, like, okay, listen. Yeah, I love that.
SPEAKER_00So I had to but I had to make sure I did it early enough because it's it's a white, and so I had to make sure I got it in the fridge at least, if you know.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00So it's it's been in the fridge for a few hours. So not that long, but you know, I guess long enough. And I'm gonna I'm gonna read you the back of the bottle because I don't know, maybe it'll explain. It says it's a rare grape variety, and I have been making a tiny quantity of wine from it for over 10 years with some really great results. The grapes give you a pure, full and juicy wine if I'm super and I'm super excited now that I'm able to make some for you. Oh, I thought it was more of a description. Anyway, so let's see, let's taste it. I haven't tasted it yet, so let's see.
SPEAKER_03All right, let's taste it together.
SPEAKER_00My unrefined palate says this is good.
SPEAKER_02It's kind of hysterical.
SPEAKER_00It's not too tart, but I would drink it. I don't know if I would buy it really, unless maybe I'm having company or something. But if you served it to me, I would drink it.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00That's the best I could tell you right now. What are you drinking? I'm drinking coffee with no additives. Oh no. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Still trying, like, I don't think it'd be good to be tipsy while recovering from surgery.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, the feeling.
SPEAKER_03You're right. Like, if you're not in surgery, I'm in surgery.
SPEAKER_00Seriously. Summer of surgery. Forget hot co hot girl summer. This was summer uh surgery summer. Right.
SPEAKER_03Like hot surgery summer. Woohoo!
SPEAKER_00Oh man. All right, so great. You're gonna be a bundle of fun with no alcohol and lost.
SPEAKER_03Um, is that are you being sarcastic? Oh, you think? I mean okay, all right.
SPEAKER_00Do I dare ask if you have any hot takes before we get in?
SPEAKER_03It's about time he finds out the secret. Jack finds out. Wait, what's what episode did you watch? Hold on. Holy shit. Did I do it again? I don't know. I watched episode three. Okay, so what secret? That we know, but he didn't know. Which is about Claire.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay. I was like, I don't know what secret talking about. God, I got it. With this show, I'm afraid to say stuff because I'm like, you know, so okay, yeah. Yeah, she comes back. Did you see it coming?
SPEAKER_03Kind of, sort of. Like when it I didn't see it coming, but I wasn't surprised. I was like, okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00On the island at the temple, it kind of opens up with Lennon, who's running through the temple, so he can tell Jogan the news that Saeed is alive. Said's like, but what happened? Jack's like, well, you died. But the only thing he remembers is just being shot at the barracks. Sawyer's standing there and he's watching. And honestly, like, I'm sure everybody has those moments where, you know, Sawyer is just kind of like, yeah, of course he's gonna be fine. Because, you know, he shoots kids and he's a torturer. So, you know, obviously he deserves another go.
SPEAKER_03Right. That I was like, I honestly am like, if I was in Sawyer's position and I just lost the love of my life, right? I will I will be feeling very salty.
SPEAKER_00Of course. It's kind of hard not to in in situations, especially when it's so intense. Said's gunshot is actually almost completely healed, and he's he thanks Jack for saving his life. But before anybody can say anything, like uh it wasn't Jack, Dogan wants to speak to Saeed alone. Jack is like, no, no, no, you can't. But Dogan is like, oh yes, we can. They go to take um Saeed. Sawyer's firing his gun, and he's like, dude, I don't care what you do to them, but I'm leaving. He's like, he's not my friend, I don't care. Goodbye. We see um more of Mac from It's Always Sunny. If I don't you don't watch that, do you?
SPEAKER_01No.
SPEAKER_00Rob McElaney, who plays Aldo, is Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. If you say so. Yeah, I say so. So anyway, they want to know where Sawyer went. Kate's like, hey, I can get him because I can track and I can make him an offer he can't refuse, basically. Jin volunteers to go and they set off, you know, it's like it's like just for old time's sake, let's send Kate off on a jungle quest. So now Said is in Dogen's laboratory, strapped to a table. Dogan puts Ash over his checks, his chest, hooks him up to an electric monitor or some contraption, and shocks Said. And we get the return of whiny Saeed. I'm so sorry, but for all the badass that Saeed is, when he gets those like softer moments, it's so fucking whiny. I'm sorry. Fight me on it. Okay, I don't know anything. What is it that you want from me? Oh my god, stop. You're fucking badass. You could do some karate chop kick, flip that fucking table while you're strapped to it, and put this muffle in a head loss, and instead you're whining about I don't know anything. Okay, sorry. Like I just I hate seeing him like so wimpy. Did this wine go to my head already?
SPEAKER_01I kind of like that wine going to your head.
SPEAKER_00But I'm just saying, like, he's such a strong character, and then you get him in these situations, and it's like all of a sudden he's so so the opposite.
SPEAKER_01Well, maybe okay, here's a question. Is it him playing like the typical like playing mind games?
SPEAKER_00I didn't think about that, but I'm gonna have to go with no. Okay. But maybe, I don't know. I don't know, because I I just feel like when we've seen him in other situations where he's very low, even with women, it comes off as kind of like whiny, too soft compared to how strong and secure his character is in other situations. It just doesn't seem like it goes. Next, after I digress, right? After the ash, you digress? Yeah, a little bit for now.
SPEAKER_03Surprised.
SPEAKER_00He so after the the electrocution and like the nipple, whatever it wasn't really on his nipples, but anyway, hysterical don't make you laugh. Then I gotta take out all that. It makes more work still. And and yesterday you left your phone on. Like you're really trying to kill me with work. She's like, and she can't get mad at me because I had surgery. Don't make me have to make you laugh. Oh, you yeah? Okay, I'll make you laugh. We'll see how funny it is. Eating in front of me is so fucking rude.
SPEAKER_03I took my medicine.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I took mine.
SPEAKER_03I can't take it on an empty stomach. You have me up at the crack of dawn.
SPEAKER_00You were already up and out of the shower. So you're probably doing better. I didn't go to bed until after four o'clock in the fucking morning last night. I don't know. Why? Because we got home at 3:30. Why? Because you had a good old time.
SPEAKER_03That's why. So how did you have a good old time? You mustn't pay the consequences. I don't want to hear it. You have a good old time.
SPEAKER_00Wa, wah, wah. If you lived here, you could have came with us. Actually, Amy was asking how you were feeling.
SPEAKER_03Aw, I love Amy. But listen, you don't get to play the I didn't get to bed till four o'clock when y'all having a good old time. I wasn't complaining.
SPEAKER_00You were that I woke you up early. I was like, oh well. Yeah. I was a keyboard. I was just simply stating that I'm still up and I went to bed late and I'm not complaining about it. And you were already up. I didn't wake you up. Okay, I'm gonna pull the call. I just had surgery, no? Me too. Okay, I had surgery too three months ago, four months ago.
SPEAKER_03Okay, okay, it hurts to laugh. I hate you, you win. So jelly. I hate you guys. Let's get back to lost.
SPEAKER_00After Dogen is, you know, satisfied about electrocuting Saeed in the ash. He's like, okay, well, one last thing, red hot poker.
SPEAKER_03He's like flame broiled.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like the Burger King commercial, you know, like it's like comic justice. I guess. I mean, you know. And then he's like, okay, cool, you pass. And Lennon's like, um, I just lied about that, didn't I? Say he goes back to Jack and is like, I was tortured, and I didn't know why. Uh, then here comes Jack, like, I demand answers because I am Jack.
SPEAKER_03I mean, you know, Jack is Jack. Jack is gonna jack. Yeah. He's not as bad lately, though.
SPEAKER_00He's he's definitely better, but still a little like, alright.
SPEAKER_03I feel like he got, you know, he got knocked down a couple of pegs. He's like he still tries.
SPEAKER_00So he's saying he wants to know why he would torture Said. And Lennon is still translating for Dogit, even though obviously we all know that he doesn't need a translator. And he's saying that Said has been infected for lack of a better translation, and that the whole all those tests were like to diagnose him. And then he gives Jack a pill and he's like, here, you have to do this to stop the infection, but he has to take it willingly. Jack is like, here, you know, I don't know, take it or don't take it. I don't know what the fuck is in it next. But then he goes back and he's like, um, why do you need a translator if you speak English? And he he gives a good analogy of like, in order to keep himself separate, because he's their leader, and you know, he has to just like kind of create a distance between himself and the people that he's making decisions for. Dogan says, when asked about if he's from the island, he's like, he was brought here like everyone else. And when Jack questions it, he's like, um, you know exactly what I mean. Then he wants to know why didn't he give the pill to Said? He's like, Well, because I don't know what's in it. And Jack jacks and he's like, tell me what's in it, tell me what's in it, tell me what's in it. Because you know, he can't, he's like a dog with a fucking bone.
SPEAKER_03I mean, to be fair, Jack wasn't wrong in this.
SPEAKER_00But also, like, Saeed could ask for himself. And but you know, it's the same kind of thing, right? But the dog with a bone.
SPEAKER_03But then you ask like Saeed just woke up from the dead, and normally you're gonna ask, you're like, you're gonna trust the doctor. To have your back. Like, I have no idea. Right, but you'll at least you'll trust him to be like to at least find out, you know, like who's gonna have your back in the case of when someone was to give you medication? Like, I just woke up from the dead. Jack is a friend, big picture, and a doctor. I, you know, you trust your friend who's a doctor to have your back, at least. I don't believe I'm standing up for Jack. I know.
SPEAKER_00Fuck me. Here's where I'm gonna stand up to Jack for Jack a little bit too, because he doesn't get an answer out of Dogan about what's in the pill, so he's like, okay, boom, I'll take the pill. And Dogan just kind of jumps on him, trying to get him to spit out the pill, and then he admits that the pill is poison. What's your take on this? Like the whole Said is infected, the pill is poison, and he's got a darkness, and I have absolutely fucking no idea. All right, that's what I figured. I don't fucking know. I thought that's what I was gonna get.
SPEAKER_03Well, listen, then why do you ask? Because like I told you, my might like for me to either watch the show and eat some kind of enjoyment, I'm not gonna try to dissect it beforehand. Okay, I'm gonna go, I'm just gonna roll with it because Lost is weird as fuck. Lost is like the TV show of Wisconsin, weird as fuck all the way over.
SPEAKER_00At least it's more entertaining.
SPEAKER_03Very much so.
SPEAKER_00Very much so. So, anyway, Dogan makes tea for himself and for Jack, and Jack wants to know why he wants to poison Said. And basically, he says that what happened to Saeed, the closest thing that he could say is that he was claimed. He says that there's a darkness growing in him, and when it reaches his heart, everything Saeed once was will be gone. He doesn't say what claimed him, but when Jack asks how he can be sure, Dogen tells him that it's what happened to your sister. And so now it's like, okay, so what happened to your sister? And also, you know I have a sister, which is kind of like, how'd you know that? But I don't think Jack knew though. Jack had no. No, Jack, Jack knew because he knew, but he didn't know who the sister was. No, no, he knew, he knew because remember when they got off the island as the Oceanic Six, okay, he did the memorial for his dad.
SPEAKER_03Yes, okay, right, right, right, right. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So that's when he found out. In the jungle.
SPEAKER_03In the jungle, the mighty jungle.
SPEAKER_00Ow. That hurt. Kate leads Jin, Aldo, and Justin after Sawyer. She questions, what are they trying to protect them from? And Aldo is like, um, you ever see Big Pillar of Smoke, makes a tick-a-tick-a-sound, looks pissed off. I was like, that is such a good way to describe it. That is perfect. My sister's Mac. Sounds like kind of something we would have said. Yeah. It's like makes a tick-a-tick-a-sound, looks pissed off. You know, the weird thing. Yeah. Jen asks about the Ajira flight. And it's like every time that Justin is about to talk, Aldo's like, quiet. Don't tell him. No. It's like, shut the fuck up, Mac. Go tend to your bar. As they're walking, they see that there's traps. And Kate is like, oh, must be one of Rousseau's. And then here we go again. Justin is like, oh, this is shut up. Shut up, Justin. No, shut up, Mac. Kwame Minds want to know. Kate's like, what are you trying to hide? He becomes defensive and he's like, um, do you don't remember me? You you don't remember me back when you were trying to like stage an escape. You you knocked out a guard. Oh, hello, that guard was me. And then she was like, Oh, you want the reef replay? Boom.
SPEAKER_03That was actually, that was actually, I was kind of proud of that one. That was pretty good.
SPEAKER_00She was like channeling Saeed there. She was like, boom, knocked him out, did a spin, threw the canteen, hit the hit the tripwire, pulled the bag of rocks. How the fuck could anybody string up a bag of boulders? I'm sorry. Well, multiple boulders. Like especially if it was clear. One teeny tiny little even Rousseau, like, how do you string up that whole big fucking heavy thing?
SPEAKER_03Well, I don't I don't know. Something with the pulley lift and physics. I don't know. I just work here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because they definitely have pulley lifts in the jungle. You can make a pulley lift. You need like wheels and shit. Okay, what do you think the ancient Egyptians did? They weren't hiding for their life against the ticka-tika sound. Oh, oh, oh, don't baby laugh.
SPEAKER_03I'm just saying. Black smoke. Oh, it hurts. It hurts to laugh.
SPEAKER_00It burns my soul to smile. So she listen, she gots that, she she got them. She gets them. She renders them enabled. And no, she read, she renders them. Huh.
SPEAKER_03Oh God, I hate you right now.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, she knocks them both out. And she's like, I'm gonna escape. And Jin is like, okay, well, where are we going? And she's like, I'm catching up with Sawyer, but I don't have any intention of bringing him there or being a prisoner there. Jin wants to know where was the plane because he wants to find Sun, but she says she doesn't know. Which remember Jesus?
SPEAKER_03They found that they landed not at a different time, but in a completely different area than when the plane landed.
SPEAKER_00Well, they did also land at a different time.
SPEAKER_03Well, is it on top of time, but still, it was still nowhere near the plane anyway, even if it was the right time.
SPEAKER_00You know what? And you're right, because I don't think she even knows that Sun landed in a different time. No, she wouldn't know.
SPEAKER_03No.
SPEAKER_00So I got something right. Holy shit. Yeah, look at that. Connected some dots.
SPEAKER_03I I that's the only dot I connected to at least two, three episodes.
SPEAKER_00Kate finds Sawyer in the now abandoned house that he and Juliet lived in in the barracks. Sawyer is like ripping up the floorboards, um, and he takes out a box, and Kate's just being a little voyeur watching him. And he's obviously upset. I mean, duh. But when she turns to leave, the floorboards creak, so he's like, Who's there? Shoot your face off. But it's Kate, so he does it.
SPEAKER_01That's good to know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then they go and they're they're sitting on like the dock and they're having a conversation, and she's saying that she came back to find Claire to reunite her with Aaron. And she's sorry for basically everything that happened. She feels like it's her fault because if she didn't get on that sub and convince them none of this would have happened, and he's like, It's my fault because before that I convinced Juliet to stay. And we we were sitting right here, and I convinced her to stay. He says that he was gonna ask her to marry him, and he has a little ring, and he's just you just feel his pain, and it's his voice sounds like if he had a cold or something. It was cracking, but it was perfect because it sounded like the voice of someone who's been yelling and crying and struggling. So I don't know if if that was acting or if or if that's just you know how his voice sounded because he was getting over a cold or something, but it was brilliant. It really gave another layer of of depth to the performance. He says that, you know, maybe some people are just meant to be alone, throws the ring into the water, and then heads back to the house. He tells Kate that she can probably make it back to the temple by nightfall, and Kate sits there crying. I think that Kate is kind of realizing that he stayed maybe with the intention of waiting for her, but then once again, it didn't work out for them. On his way back to the temple, Jin is attacked by them again, because they're like pissed off about being beat up by a girl, even though it wasn't Jin who beat them up, but you know, whatever.
SPEAKER_03But they would take it out on the person that didn't beat them up so they can try to win the fight.
SPEAKER_00Right. But Jin is like, well, I'm going back to the temple. And when he gets when he tries to run, he gets caught in a bear trap. And just as he's about to get shot by Mac from It's Always Sunny, boom, gunshots. And it's like, who's shooting the gun? This is actually the last scene in in the episode. And when you turn around, you see Claire looking a little crazy. But Claire's there with the gun, and she what it works for her.
SPEAKER_03It's a look, it's a vibe, and I'm feeling it.
SPEAKER_00Island psycho? Yeah. Yeah, listen. Puppet's been coming to the fall fashion line. It's been three years. That's not bad. She looks better than I would after a week. Thank you. Hello. Sometimes I wake up in the morning looking worse. Looking like that.
unknownSame.
SPEAKER_03Lord have mercy. Like us being up all night long and waking up after an hour to go to the airport. Yeah. I don't know who the fuck we thought we were. Seriously. We like, yeah, we could do that. No, the fuck we cannot.
SPEAKER_00Jen is like, Claire? And she she's like, do I know you? Wait a minute. I know you. So that's the last scene is us seeing, oh shit, Claire is alive. She is not actually dead, like they told us she was.
SPEAKER_03I thought she was. I really thought she went into the ether. I thought she went into the ether. I mean, it's a fair guess. I mean, I should have known better. It's lost. I I'm highly disappointed in myself. I should have known. Better. You're finally learning. I get, and this is why I was like, I don't fucking know. Cause I I I I give up. Totally give up.
SPEAKER_00So in the uh flashes, we're back at LAX, kind of like where it left off the last time. Kate's got the taxi driver at gunpoint is like, drive, motherfucker, drive. Claire's like, let me out. And Kate's like, no, bitch.
SPEAKER_03Your synopsis version is so much better than what happened in real life.
SPEAKER_00They're in the car, and then fucking arst. I'm walking here. I'm walking. No, pick up your fucking luggage. Move, bitch. Get out the way. Get out the way. How long does it take you to grab your fucking two suitcases out of the road? My God.
SPEAKER_03I'm walking here in the middle of the street where cars have to go. Yeah. That, um, that yeah. Okay, you drop your shit. Pick it up and walk. More picking up.
SPEAKER_00Come on, chop chop.
SPEAKER_03I always tell people that look cross in front of me, knees the fucking chin, motherfucker, knees the chin. Let's go.
unknownPick up the pace.
SPEAKER_00And finally, she's like, um, you know, go. He's like, Well, we're gonna run him over, but instead he just runs over his luggage. Fine. You know what? It took you way too long to grab that shit anyway. So he deserved it. Goodbye. Claire's like trying to get out, and Kate's like, nope, told you no. Finally, they get to like a light, and he's she's like, take a left. And instead, he takes a run. He's like, I'm proud of this bitch. I mean, he left the chick in the car. I was like, damn. Yeah, well, you know, we wanted to be treated equal. He was like, All right, every man for himself. I think I was just like, yo, I wow. I'm not that upset about it. Somebody got a gun to your head and you got a chance to get away. I'm not dying for this stranger. I was an immigrant, fucking foreigner. That's how you know how that's how people feel, right? Even though she's blonde hair, blue eyes. Technically speaking, based on American standards, she's not a foreigner. Oh, that's an okay immigrant. You're right. Right, right, right, right.
SPEAKER_03Right. Hello. Sorry.
SPEAKER_00You're you're right. My mistake.
SPEAKER_03The brown person that's born here is the immigrant.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm not that mad at it. Because if you have me at gunpoint and I have my opening to get the fuck away, I'm out.
SPEAKER_03Sorry. I just I don't know. I don't know if I'm mad or I don't think I'm I don't know if I'm mad or not mad at it. I'm just like, yeah, I'm not mad.
SPEAKER_00Okay, like that happened. That's fucked up. Welcome to America. But something's got a happy ending in the end.
SPEAKER_03So and then as a decent human being, if I'm in a taxi and there's a woman in my as a as a female, and as my passenger is a female that's obviously a hundred months pregnant because he had to see her get into the cab.
SPEAKER_00Maybe he didn't. I you know how oblivious fucking cab drivers can be. They pick up 4,000 people a day. They don't fucking care. Get in, give me your money, get up.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I'm sure he got the luggage in the back for her. I'm like, I'm just saying, because her luggage in the back was in the trunk. I just don't see for me, even as a woman, I would not leave a pregnant woman in the car and go dolo. I mean, I have a child, she's not a child should, but I have fam that loves me too, but I couldn't do that.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, I'm not that mad at it.
SPEAKER_03I'm just surprised.
SPEAKER_00Maybe he's got a family he needs to get home to at night. And he's like, I'm not I'm not trying to be another statistic. I gotta feed these kids. No, I totally get it. And his wife gotta go shopping. I need to make money. If I'm dead, she can't go eat her bonbons and get her nails done.
SPEAKER_03You know what? I think bonbons. Do they still sell bonbons? Let them go on Amazon. I'm sure Amazon would find it for me.
SPEAKER_00Where's Peggy Bundy with a big thing?
SPEAKER_03But that's right, because Bon Bombs are synonymous with Peggy Bundy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Ali's been watching it at night too. So I'm like, ugh, okay. I'm gonna have to re-watch this shit too. He runs. She is like, you know what? Get out. She gets Kate, Kate is like taken off the cab. She lets Claire out, but she's like, but can I get my luggage? No, bitch, you can't get your luggage. You're lucky I'm letting you out the fucking car. Get out. Right. Stop asking for more. She goes to garage and she pays the mechanic. She's like, um, you have this. And then the mechanic is like, actually, what you need is this. And with that gun down, you ain't getting that shit. Right. And he's so like nonchalant about it. And she's like, right.
SPEAKER_03For this to be in LA, okay, not so okay. I guess depending on what part of LA, you like, I can see that happening, but that gives such New York vibes.
SPEAKER_00Like it did really did, right? Just cool. Oh, because you're a murderer? Awesome. $200? All right, cool.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like, no, if you get what I think, like a tire hand hammer, he's like, your arm will fucking come off. What you need is this, but you're not getting shit without when you put that gun down. Like, I'm like, you know what?
SPEAKER_00And then the best part is that afterwards, and then she's like, Can I use your bathroom? He's like, Yeah, but make it quick. Like this bitch now has two free hands and a gun, and you're still like, all right, but make it quick. Quick.
SPEAKER_03Because honestly, at that point, the dude has some boss and not give a fuck. You gotta respect that shit. You gotta be like, you're like, all right.
SPEAKER_00And you think when she first rolls in there, it's like, oh, is she trying to get rid of the car because you know they're looking for the car? Which can we talk about how long is she driving this fucking cab and no and nobody could find her? It's like I guess because it's a cab. What was the LAPD doing? I'm sorry. Was there a black man in the street that needed to get beat up? Like, where were you? What I tell you about making me laugh right now. Sorry. But I'm I'm sure that there's some people who would be like, Well, if that was me, I would have been dead in the street by now.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely.
SPEAKER_00I would have had 40 fucking bullets pumped into me by now. Oh no, but Kate hijacks a pregnant chick and a taxi, and you can't find this big yellow fucking car. But I guess but it's like a dime a dozen. The federal fucking agent is like, I'm missing my my charge. And he he's not being like, get the helicopters. These are federal fucking agents. He don't want her to escape him again. You know how pissed off he must be that she's already escaped him, like three this is gonna be the third time. Remember, she got away from him when she crashed the car. Dude from him. In Australia. Actually, that actually, no, she didn't get away from him in Australia, but she almost did. That's actually how she got caught. But like, you know, this man must be really fucking pissed off at her bullshit by now. How did he not call how did his fragile little federal agent ego not call in like the whole fucking National Guard and the fucking army and fragile ego?
SPEAKER_03Fucking bitch. Because his fragile ego, he's like, I am not everybody. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I'm just saying, you you're f you're not even like LAPD. You transported a prisoner from one country to another country, wanted for murder, federal fucking agent. She got your gun, so now she's armed at an airport, hijacked a car, and you can't be like, hey, um, quick, get the people at the the exits. Come on. I mean, I've never been to LAX, but I've been to Newark, I've been to JFK, and I've been to LaGuardia. It's not just, oh, make a left turn and you're out of the airport. Even with the 400 cabs, you still they all funnel out of one or two different exits depending on what terminal you're in. And then the cab driver got out. So don't you think that they're like he went to the cops and was like, hey, my cab number is XYZ. The numbers are all over the fucking cab. It couldn't be easier. It's not like you're looking for like a black SUV. You're looking for a fucking yellow car with numbers on it. It's easy. That's a good point.
SPEAKER_03But then the episode would have been, the episode wouldn't have got it as far as it did.
SPEAKER_00You're right. Anyway, sorry. Well, Kate is in the bathroom, hurrying it up. She's gonna change clothes, but instead she finds like just baby shit in the bag. So I think Kate then was like, oh, this bitch was pregnant. Look at all this baby shit. So she gets back in her stolen yellow cab. She should have even told the guy, like, hey, can we swap cars? Like, here's another couple of hundred bucks. The guy, the guy probably would have been like, All right, give me a little bit more, you can have it. And she goes back to find Claire. She goes back, finds Claire sitting on a bench. Like, you just got to this country and you know how the buses work. I've been in Jersey for almost four years. I still am not sure how the fucking buses work. And I have like a computer in my pocket on my phone.
SPEAKER_03Maybe she was just sitting on the bench because it's quick. It was just somewhat a sit, not just.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but she said I was gonna take a bus. Oh, she did say that? She was like, I'm waiting for a bus. I mean, maybe she was being sarcastic, but she was like, I'm going to Brentwood. Kate comes back and she's like, Here's your luggage. Where are you going? Brentwood. All right, I'll take you. Claire's like, are you serious? But okay, sure, I'll get in. I mean, at this point, what else do you have to lose? You know, if somebody came back with my stuff, um okay, I probably would.
SPEAKER_03You took the the the cab by gunpoint, but you actually brought back the baby shit and take I figured you know what? Fuck it. Like, this is what's the worst that can happen at this point.
SPEAKER_00I know, right? Like, if you wanted to shoot me, you would have done so already. Right. Yeah, you but you're giving me a ride? All right. All right. Yeah. She probably hadn't had time to change over her money yet, anyway. I don't know what kind of money they use in Australia, but Australian money?
SPEAKER_01I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know, but is it dollars? So maybe she's like, oh, she did her a favor because she wouldn't have been able to pay for the cab. I don't know. I'm making shit up now. They get to the house where they have flares. It's the Australian dollar. But it's not like US dollar. No. I would imagine George Washington's face is not on their money.
SPEAKER_03And their one no, but their one bill equals 68 cents of hours.
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, so she would at unless she did it at the airport, which I'm guessing she didn't, if she was still out there at the same time as everybody else, how'd she expect to pay for that cab? Anyway.
SPEAKER_03Well, as we know, she was going to give her baby off for adoption. So she probably figured the people that was supposed to pick her up was gonna pay for the cab. I think I would assume that too.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't trust people enough. I don't assume anything. Well, like you were supposed to come to the cabin. She'll get to the door and be like, pay the cab.
SPEAKER_03Pay the cab. Honestly, I mean that's safe to assume like was it take my baby and pay for the fucking cab? I brought the baby, pay for the fucking cab. This baby costs one cab ride. One cab ride, right? That's kind of a fair assumption to make.
SPEAKER_00I hear things are expensive in California, so maybe it was worth it.
SPEAKER_03Stop. Okay. Oh, that hurts.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, she's like, at the hospital.
SPEAKER_03You know why, guys? Lisa made me laugh, and I popped the internal stitch.
SPEAKER_00Nope.
SPEAKER_03Wasn't you?
SPEAKER_00Nope. You didn't do it? Not me. Nobody didn't do it. It wasn't me.
SPEAKER_03Lisa and Shaggy.
SPEAKER_00Oh. Can you let me read so that you can stop laughing? No, I cannot. Don't make me have to put my game face on.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna have to close my eyes because I feel called awful. Oh my god. Okay, focus. Okay.
SPEAKER_00They're on their way to Brentwood because the couple who was supposed to buy Claire's baby didn't show up. And Claire's like, I don't know, maybe they forgot. Maybe they got their days mixed up. Oh, Claire, you are so dumb. Anyway, Claire's like, um, Kate, could you come with me? I know you just had a gun pointed at my face, but could you be my moral support right now? Because I mean, you know what? If the bitch with the gun wants to accompany you and be on your side, take it. Yes, that's I said a bad trip. Listen, not a bad move on her part. Yeah, especially you don't know this country, you're a stranger, you don't know this town. You want the bitch with the gun who knows the city. Right.
SPEAKER_03At least the bitch with a gun. I mean, you know the city and not with the bitch with the gun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the badass bitch with the gun. They get to the house, the woman is like, uh, my husband just left. Baby who? Baby, I'm sorry. Newly single, who this? Like oh, I hate you, Lisa. Sorry. Just mute me. Claire is like, just mute me. I can't mute you. You have I can mute me. Yeah, but if I mute me, then the listeners can't hear me. So you have to mute your ears. Okay, anyway, so then Claire is like, oh hell fucking no, bitch. I just traveled across the fucking world to give you my baby, and you couldn't pick up the motherfucking phone and be like, hey, not gonna buy your baby anymore. You see what happened though, what had happened was yeah nothing, nothing. And then in true TV fashion, Claire goes into labor. That sounds about right. Kate drives to the hospital, still in the big yellow car with the numbers on it, because obviously that's what you want to do. And they get in, Claire is like, Kate, stay with me. Because that's obvious. Yeah, so you know, here we go. Had you at gunpoint 10 minutes ago, but yeah, let me go be your fucking doula now. They need a doctor, and so oh, who comes? Who do we see? Dr. Ethan. You know he's Tom Cruise's cousin. Is he? Yeah, and like I feel like the older Tom Cruise gets, the more they actually look alike.
SPEAKER_03Look alike. Now that you mention it, I can see it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. He's like, hi Claire, are you ready to have your baby? And you're like, oh my god, deja fucking voo. She's having contraction, looks like that baby's ready to come out, even though she's premature. You're fucking 36 weeks, and you just flew on a plane, you just had a really stressful event. I think you're good. 36 weeks is not really premature. I mean, it is, but it's not. It's not like you're 26 weeks. Right. You're at a hospital in a majority.
SPEAKER_03And I don't think real life, they wouldn't give you an option. They're like, um, no, this baby is safe to be born now. We're gonna do it.
SPEAKER_00They're gonna be like, ching, ching, let that cash register ring. Oh, you need in uh drugs, you you inductions lead to C-sections. Awesome. That doctor saw a new wing about to be put onto his house when Claire walked into the hospital. But I feel like the hospital.
SPEAKER_03If it's with if it's viable and it's safe and the baby's coming naturally, I think it's safer to let it happen as opposed to stopping the labor, right? Of course.
SPEAKER_00So, like you give a non-stress test, and if that baby is doing fine, your fluid levels are good, right? Baby's heart rate is good, the position is good, mom is good, no fever. Let that let nature happen. Let yeah, keep her there for observation if that's your preferred. And I'm not a doctor, but I've studied this. So But not if that's I'm not saying that's what you should do, but I'm saying that that's exactly what I would do for myself. Well, stopping the labor completely seems like it's more dangerous. Of course it is.
SPEAKER_03That's just my thoughts. But what do I know?
SPEAKER_00Oh, you know, for nine months, don't take drugs, don't take drugs, don't drink, don't take drugs, and then you're about to give labor and have your baby, and then it's like, hey, you want all the drugs? I'm sorry, weren't they bad for me yesterday?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but something like that doesn't happen in real life. Okay, we can just wait, we can just give you drugs to stop it.
SPEAKER_00That part kind of I know it's as long as that baby is not in distress, that baby should just be left the fuck alone. Babies know when they want to be born. You don't see babies who are like 46 years old still stuck in their mom because no doctor came and said, uh, it's time to get your baby out. No, they come out.
SPEAKER_03Some of these mama boys, though, they should be put back in. I don't think they ever left. Anywho, but I know it's TV land, but that part of all the things of Lost has ever written, that part was the most really. Are you out of your fucking mind? Of everything that they smoke monsters, polar bears, all this shit. This was the one that got me the most.
SPEAKER_00But I feel like that whole oh, well, we'll just let your baby ride, and then it was like, oh no, distress. But I feel like that whole thing was just a setup for like the name Aaron delivery device. Because right away when Claire starts freaking out, it's like, is Aaron okay? Where did that come from? Yeah, where did that come from? I just thought it was me. I thought I missed something. No, but I think you know, that was the point because then even you see Kate like kind of like wait, Kate was having deja vu over there. She didn't know why, she didn't know what was going on, but like you see Kate like, what the fuck? The next time you feel deja vu, maybe you are really in your own version of Lost. Maybe just having maybe I'm psychic. If you could see the look that she's giving me, though. She really, if looks could kill, I'd be dead on this podcast. Maimed. I'd I'm dry, you'd heard a thumb because I would have fallen off my chair.
SPEAKER_03Maimed, not dead, because you know, I still need the co-host. So I'll just like probably incapacitate you for a minute.
SPEAKER_00Oh, okay, okay. So, whatever. The baby just changed position, but all is good. Okay. Yeah. So, you know, crisis averted. Later on, we see detectives come in and they're asking questions, they're asking Claire questions about Kate. And Claire's like, I don't know, she's just some cab driver. And the the officer's like, uh, did she say where she was going? I don't know. Do fucking cab drivers tell you where they're going? Tell you where they're going? I'm sorry, but like out of all the dumb questions, that was a dumb one. The dumbest. If she's really telling you, I don't know. I got off a fucking plane.
SPEAKER_03She the f is that I had a paper towel in my hand. And you know how you pull paper to make like a big paper hat? Uh-uh. So I was folding it and made myself a paper hat. A paper towel hat.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god. Can I screenshot that, please? Yeah, just thank you.
SPEAKER_03Oh wait, I gotta, I gotta make it again because I took it off. Continue. Okay. When I make my paper towel hat.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, really. Like, if if she's telling you, I don't know, like I just got off a fucking plane from another country. I'm new here, took a cab, went into labor. Uh, I didn't know where she was going. The fu I don't know. This is the dumbest of all the dumb questions. They leave. Kate comes out from her little hiding spot. I don't know, she was like in a in another room or an adjoining room, in a supply room. I don't know where the fuck she was, but she whatever. It doesn't hold as well as paper does. And she she thanks Claire for covering her. Claire asks her, What did she do? Okay, hold on. Take this picture. Where's my camera? It's gonna fall off. What the hell was I? She asks Kate what she did, and Kate said, Would you believe me if I said I was innocent? And Claire's like, Of course I would. Yes. Kate gives her her credit card. I mean, she she gives Kate her credit card, sorry. And um she says that she used the name Aaron because she knew it or something. And Kate tells Claire that she should keep him, and they wish each other good luck, and Kate leaves. Remember, Claire was told that the baby shouldn't be raised by another. Is this the way of fixing that? So that Claire, you know, the adoptive parents fell through. So Claire stuck? Okay, let's do trivia. Trivia, yeah, trivia, yeah. Hurley asked Saeed if he was a zombie. This is an inside reference to the running joke on the official Lost Podcast that the non-existent season seven will be called the zombie season. The title is a reference to the season two episode, What Kate Did. This is Claire's first on Island appearance in the original timeline since Cabin Fever. The credits are not in alphabetical order, as they have always been. And Emily De Raven, Raven, Raven, Raven, I don't remember how to pronounce her last name, comes before Henry Ian Cusick, who plays Desmond. Oh, some of the scenes with Claire and Kate were actually shot in Los Angeles. As a result, it was the fifth time the show was shot outside of Hawaii. Rob McElaney, aka Mack from It's Always Sunny, reprises his role as Aldo from Not in Portland after a 48-episode absence. When Dogen wants Jack to give the medicine, you know, to Saeed, he does so by like using Jack's guilt against him. And you're like, oh, so the man is part genius too. Got it. So the others say, I mean, you know, like the temple others that they're keeping them in the temple as protection. Do you have any thoughts on that?
SPEAKER_03Well, when Jacob died, they knew shit hit the fan and they went to like red alert. So they knew some shit was up. So I really think they have any intentions of protecting them, I think. They were sent by Jacob. Jacob is now dead. That they know Jacob is dead now. I think it was a thing of nowhere in, no one out until we figure out what the fuck is going on.
SPEAKER_00The things that he said about Saeed being claimed, we know that Miles can talk to dead people. So I feel like we should assume maybe if that's the right word, that Saeed is not dead. Because, well then, wouldn't Miles be able to communicate?
SPEAKER_03Miles knew that something was up because he looked at him, he looked at the dead body like, what the fuck? Mmm. Claimed by the darkness. Who knows? Uh ticket ticker, angry smoke monster kind of. I feel like it's talking about me sometimes. And a tick-a-tika, you know, very like Halloween. Right? You know, it's very like a horror movie. Tickka ticker ticker. Angry. Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So some of the ironies is that Saeed, you know, who was the torturer, is tortured. In the previous episodes, like in the beginning of the series. Ethan was medicating Claire. And now in this one, he's like, I don't want to stick a bunch of needles into you. But like that's what he was doing before. He kept giving her the shots. And Miles makes he he points out about Hurley being in a leadership position.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So Sae remembers being shot, but he doesn't seem to remember anything after that. Remember when they were going to save Ben when Ben was a boy? They said he won't remember any of this. Right.
SPEAKER_03He also said he wouldn't be the same.
SPEAKER_00Well, he right, he wouldn't be the same and he wouldn't remember. So are they traveling on a different path? Is Ben actually uh claimed? Said says he remembers being shot but nothing after that. So does Ben remember being shot and nothing after that? And if so, does he remember it was Saeed who shot him? I don't know. Just making my head spin. Okay. Kate finds the stuffed animal in Claire's luggage, right? And it's a stuffed orca in something nice back home. Aaron is carrying the same like stuffed orca when Kate and Jack fight about him. That's cute. Some questions would be how, when, where, why, did the darkness enter Saeed's body? And same for Claire. You already know my answer. I don't fucking know.
SPEAKER_03I don't fucking know.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I know you don't know, but the fun is in the guessing, the fun is in the mystery, the fun is in just like, whoa, what could it be? No, it's not that's not fun.
SPEAKER_03That's not fun. Not in Lost World. Because Lost is just like you need to have you need to be on shrooms and drunk and high, and then make a guess. And then you'll probably be right.
SPEAKER_00Do you have anything else on this episode? No. The next episode is called The Substitute.
SPEAKER_03That was a good movie, by the way. Any guesses? The Substitute. Let's see. For some reason, I don't know. Maybe go back to um Locke and the Smoke Monster Jacob's anti-Jacob. He's have does he have a name? I'm not telling you. No, but did they mention anything yet? No, they haven't. Okay, that's what so anti-Jacob. And I think it has to do with anti-Jacob and Locke or something. I think we go back to that. It's a Locke episode. See yay! I had an opinion and I give you my thoughts on it. I'll see you guys next week. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay, jokily. Next time is a lock episode. You know, we are quickly, quickly going through these episodes. We're gonna be all done with lost soon. I know you can't wait. You cannot wait. Her smile is so big right now at the thought of never having to talk about this show again.
SPEAKER_03I'm a little nervous though. Why? Because the roles reverse. Oh. And I don't I honestly, all joking aside, I got some big shoes to fail.
SPEAKER_00So do you do you want to just stay talking about loss for like a few more weeks so you don't have to do it? And we'll just keep talking about how wonderful this show is.
SPEAKER_03I think I'd rather go back under the knife. Thank you very much.
SPEAKER_00She's like, and take that bitch too. Get her a fucking lobotomy. Because she is so done with this.
SPEAKER_03I have done like I, you know what it can't be, it couldn't be any worse.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna Google. I left the uh, I know you don't listen, so I'll tell you. But when you said the line from the show, I didn't Google, and no one has texted anything yet, like if they recognized it. But you said the line, I left it in the episode.
SPEAKER_03Oh, you did?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I put it at the end of the episode.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, wait, what? My brain went stupid.
SPEAKER_00But no, no one has like text or anything yet. So I don't know, either they don't know it or or they don't care enough. Because I didn't Google, I did my part in Google, but if somebody texts, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna go I'm gonna be looking at you like ah listen, if they text it, yeah. And if you think it's too late, because it's like two weeks after the episode, it's not too late. That's how everybody thinks, and then Lisa doesn't get to know what it is, so just it's not too late.
SPEAKER_03We should put a post up, it's not too late.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, I need to go eat something because I think this, I think this one got to me, especially because like I haven't eaten anything today. But next time is the substitute, episode four, season six, episode four. You know, six four is my anniversary. Maybe it'll be a very special episode. Really?
SPEAKER_03It is it is your anniversary. Happy anniversary. This is when you cut out the whole thing because we don't want, I think it's like a copyright thing, uh-huh. And two, my voice, and then three, my voice.
SPEAKER_00Thank you for hanging out with us and listening to this episode and sassinsips.com for all the ways you can support the show. And here's your call to action. If you haven't already followed us on TikTok, go do that because we want we want to have the ability to go live.
SPEAKER_03Because I don't know, don't you want to see this like live and action, unscripted, complete shit show.
SPEAKER_00And if you already follow us on TikTok, then your call to action is do the text us button and just you know, shout out like where you're listening from because that's cool. Like we we can see in our stats all the like different cities and countries that are listening, but I'm really curious, you know, in a in like a real time. So oh, speaking of texting us, we got a text and the last four digits were 4798. That's all that I see, and it shows up as New York. And it was saying that the Star Star Wars that they watch it in the release order, not the chronological order. So thank you for texting us. Nice, thank you. I think that's the proper way, so I concur. Don't drink and drive, drink responsibly, sassin's lips.com. And until next time, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes, and we're out of here. See you later. Bye.
