Hi, and welcome to this episode of Sass and Sips. Today we are going to talk about Reunion, Season 1 of One, Episode 3, 1988. I'm Lisa, and today I'm sipping on red wine. I say it like it's gonna be different. Fucker. Right. I know. Hold on to your seats, people. It's Sunday, so I'm drinking the little bit of the Jesus juice.
SPEAKER_00Nice. Good Catholic schoolgirl. No, you didn't go to Catholic school girl. I never went to Catholic girl.
SPEAKER_02I went to, I mean, I went to CCD, but that was about it. And it was great because it got out of school. I thought I was winning because you got out of school early on Wednesdays to go. But then I eventually I found out that because like half of the class left to go to CCD, that the other half usually just stood back and played games. And then I was like, yeah, I lost. I lost that one. I think they were the real winners. But anyway, yes.
SPEAKER_00Yes, we were.
SPEAKER_02Do you remember? Oh no, you didn't go to CCD. But one of my CCD teachers, he owned a bar on Atlantic Avenue. And I was like, mm-hmm. And we went to that bar. That's the bar that we went to.
SPEAKER_00At the bar for Lexus's party?
SPEAKER_02Yes, with the cup in my jacket. Yes. It was that that was my CCD teacher, the guy who owned that bar. How is this not coming up now? And I remember that bar being giving me. We were too busy throwing glasses off of bridges.
SPEAKER_00It was like the people listening, like, what? Wait, what?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, uh, no, not nothing to see here. Anyway, and I'm sorry, who am I speaking to? What happened? I said, Well, who? Who? What? They don't know who you are. They're like, who's that bitch talking to? I don't know. This is like episode 247, but I'm really just not sure who that other chick is.
SPEAKER_00My gonna tell us who she is? We were talking, well, you know, we're like very important stuff to tell you guys before we got to Hi, and I'm Agnes, and I'm drinking my Sunday coffee. Okay, so I put chai seasoning in it. I had all the seasoning stuff. I had like, like individually, I had the cinnamon, I had the cardamom, I had all that stuff. I'm like, oh shit. So I put it into the basket with the coffee grounds. That's new. And then I and I threw Kahlua after the fact.
SPEAKER_02And how's it taste?
SPEAKER_00Fucking amazing.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Hair was the hair the tail of the dog.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Because Agnes was out drinking all night. And no hangover, thank you. I was home having a girl's night with two out of my three kids.
SPEAKER_00And I'm pretty sure I had a girl's night too. My daughter was with, and I'm pretty sure she's hurting.
SPEAKER_02We played Powerpuff Girls Monopoly. Nice. And that little one kind of kicked our butts. We took pity on her because she was like, nope, I don't want to buy this. Nope, I don't want to buy this. And we're like, we've we've got properties, we've got money, and she's got like nothing. And so we took a little pity on her, and lo and behold, I think she played us because eventually we were like, uh, you win. Like just just take our money. Like you win. And she's like, you see, you see, you can't ever, oh, what did she say? Don't you can't, uh, something something with the 11-year-olds. And I'm like, yeah, okay. Like, I went easy on you because you're my kid, and you came back and kicked my butt.
SPEAKER_00Don't ever come easy. Okay, listen, she was Libraing.
SPEAKER_02I guess.
SPEAKER_00The Libra Libre. Well, guess what?
SPEAKER_02The Sagittarius is Sagittarius.
SPEAKER_00She loaded to our scores of security and then wham.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Libra Librod. I'm not mad at it.
SPEAKER_02And then at one point she bailed me out against the other kid, right? So I was like, all right, so cool. The next time you land on my stuff, like, I'll only charge you half. Because I had like a bunch of houses, so the rent was like $900. So I was like, it's cool. Just give me like $400 because you help me out, you know, for a couple of times. And then she's like, don't worry. When you come around mine, you can only pay half. Her rent was like $80. Yeah, that's definitely a deal. Okay, brat. I'm gonna have to teach her a little bit. I'm gonna have to be a little bit more uh ruthless next time.
SPEAKER_00And it's gonna happen. She's gonna learn from it like AI. Because Libras are like the we are like AI. We learn and we double. Yeah. We are sky dead.
SPEAKER_02Don't underestimate the 11-year-olds. That's what she said.
SPEAKER_00Love it.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Alright, kiddo. Next time we put away the Powerpuff Girl's monopoly and we break out the real one and we see. Anyway.
SPEAKER_00She's getting a little bit. Lisa's feeling kind of froggy. Like it's a kid. Okay.
SPEAKER_02It's my kid. I can do that. You got hot takes?
SPEAKER_00No. No hot takes.
SPEAKER_02You know, one of the things that kind of bothers me. And yes, I know it was made in 2000, supposed to be set in the 80s, but it's just not like gritty enough. You know, right? Like New York was so much more like dirty looking in the 80s. Like everything was gritty. You know? It so and then they had like, I mean, obviously they're they're I don't know where they're filming, but like the New York City scenes are obviously not set in New York City. Uh first of all, I I don't know where those hills were and those fake ass taxi cabs. They didn't look like that. They were big ass Oldsmobile boats and shit. But anyway. Um Yeah. Yeah. But other than that, I did enjoy the episode. We've we've got a new alive character.
SPEAKER_00No, it was really good. I enjoyed that. I enjoyed it immensely. I have no qualms. Um nothing, but like I said, no hot takes, no like holy shit moment. So I didn't know.
SPEAKER_02We didn't get any more about the gun. But I'm on like Carla Lockett watch.
SPEAKER_00Carla with the Locket with the watch. No, no, no. Meaning like, no. I'm making it to like a clue reference. Um which just came on. I just saw it. It was it was living through the channel. So I'm like, oh clue. I love that movie. I watch it. I don't care how many times it's on TV. I'll watch.
SPEAKER_02So because the first episode, I guess was the first episode, and then the second episode, we missed the first 10 minutes. We we haven't gotten to see the intro. And the intro actually filled us in a lot. So yes. The murder happened at the 20-year high school reunion, and we saw a scene of Carla actually in the delivery room with Sam. So clearly, all of that stuff was shown in the last episode. This episode, it opens and it's kind of like bouncing back and forth between Will talking to Carla and Craig talking to Jenna, and they're both like, I need to get Sam. I'm in love with Sam. I really want to be with Sam. Does anybody ask Sam what she wants?
SPEAKER_00So wait, ask a woman what she wants? How revolutionary.
SPEAKER_02I know it's a very novel idea.
SPEAKER_00Um, I did have one thought from this episode, and I just don't want to forget it. Just to cement our thought process, or at least my thought process, I think is our thought process, but I can't remember that the victim most likely is Sam. It's the fact that everything revolves around her. Like the two guys are revolving around her. I just I feel like she's such a like the plot, like Carla's story revolves around Samantha.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And you know what I mean? So I It's very Sam Will Craig centric.
SPEAKER_00Very much so.
SPEAKER_02And then you got Carla, but then by like default, then next you get Aaron, and then you get Jenna. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I I get that. So I think that's why I'm like, yeah, it has to be Sam. Because usually in TV lingo, like TV world rules, like the quote unquote, I don't say main character, but you know, the pivotal character is the one that's you gets killed or has been killed or will get killed. So that's my thought.
SPEAKER_02We see Sam talking to a PI and he locates her baby. Her baby's name is Amy Elizabeth Phillips. The people who adopted were Americans, I believe, but then they went to, I think, Japan, and now, what a coincidence. They're in New York City and they need a nanny. It's like, well, the odds just couldn't get any fucking better, could they?
SPEAKER_00I mean, you would have thought it was a scripted.
SPEAKER_02I know. Meanwhile, Will is working with Craig's dad in some uh like real estate uh developmental kind of business, and he helps him close a big deal, and that big deal earns him a $40,000 fucking dollar bonus. And this is like 88 money. So which that's a lot for today, okay? I assure you, my bonus is nowhere near that big. If you add up all of my bonuses since I've been employed with this company and I've gotten three now, it still doesn't add up to that. But anyway, like good for him, okay. And then we find out that Craig is doing charity work in Central America. The private investigator tells Sam, listen, these people, they got the money, okay? And you ain't got the money. So if you want the baby, you gotta get the money. Because yeah, they're not gonna sell you their baby for a little bit of money. I mean, they're not gonna sell the baby, but like she needs lawyers. So she needs money for like good lawyers, and Sam don't have it, but that's okay because oh, would you look at that in in another turn of events? And what luck that could only happen if it was scripted, Will just got a $40,000 fucking bonus, which can pay for a really good lawyer. But since they're looking for a nanny, she shows up at their house. And I don't know in what world she thought that she was just gonna walk in and they were gonna be like, Yeah, sure, no problem. She walks in and they're like, oh my god, you're here for the nanny job. And she's like, actually, I'm her mom. Did you think that they were gonna be like, oh, come, give me your hug? No. They're like, What the fuck are you doing here? And get the hell out. It doesn't have to be like this. Yes, it fucks.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it does. Yes, the fuck it does. So the father, can't remember his name, he's built the actor's name. He also recently, in a no closer to now time, plays Charlie in Scandal. Yeah. So just case you guys just like throw it out there. I just love to see actors like, you know, X amount of years before. It gets me excited. I'm like, oh, look how young they were.
SPEAKER_02And when does Scandal come out? Scandal came out in like what tw 2010? So this may be only five years.
SPEAKER_00But if it seems like a lot longer, but yeah. Okay, but he still looks younger then. Oh, yeah. Significantly than he does, obviously the character has plays that he plays in Scandal is a little bit more warm. You know. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But more hardened. Yes. Yeah. But yeah, so the adoptive parents obviously don't like it. And anybody with brain cells that hold hands could have told her that. But high school kids, you know, young adults, they know everything.
SPEAKER_00Because I feel like she's I feel like they're still in high school. I they might as well be. With it with their mind works.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Well, they're two years out of high school, so they're like 20.
SPEAKER_0020, 20, like 1920. I'm trying to think. Were we that naive? No, we were New York City kids. We but even still. We weren't that naive.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't think we were that dumb.
SPEAKER_00No, because we had to take the train to school when we were 13. So there had to be a certain sense of street smartness to begin with.
SPEAKER_02So we go to present day, and the detective is questioning Will. He says that they can all be placed at the scene of the crime on the night of the murder. And you're like, whoa, that sounds so bad. But actually, it's because it was the night of their fucking high school reunion.
SPEAKER_00The reunion.
SPEAKER_02So yeah. Oh, and then the rest together. And then a hundred other people were there. Right. But then we find out that there's CC footage from the loft. So it's like, oh, so now the loft is in play because clearly this loft, 20 years later, they somehow can still afford it.
SPEAKER_00So how the thought they could afford to begin with. Well, Jenna could afford it because she was doing um, but when she first got it, she wasn't really, you know what I mean? It wasn't like she didn't have like a steady, steady job. Like No, but I mean I'm like, how did you even get your foot into that spot? That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_02Because remember, she did the music video, and then because when Carla came in in the last episode and she was like, Oh, you oh, I saw you, oh, look at this place. So Carla had never been there. So it gives the impression that it's relatively new. And then in this episode, she was doing a premiere for a movie. Right. I get that. I still find it hard to do that. What shock me more than her being able to afford it is her still living or them still having it after 20 years.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so that that doesn't shock me. Because honestly, in the 80s, it might have been a recontrolled unit. So the That's true. So the fact that they still have it makes sense to me. Okay. But I'm just like New York real estate, period. You just coming off the bus and you found that?
SPEAKER_02Like But I don't see, but I didn't get the impression. I mean, maybe, maybe we like we missed part of the episode, so maybe, but like if she hit it big with a music video and she made videos? No, but if she paid a couple, but remember, this is also the 80s. So real estate was still a lot, but but New York was a very different time. It wasn't if it looks like she might be like downtown somewhere like Soho. So yeah, still trendy or West Village.
SPEAKER_00In the 80s, it wasn't trendy at all. It was still a street show.
SPEAKER_02It's still, it was still actually Soho was still a shithole. Well, yeah, but the but by the 90s, that's when the rent really started coming up. And then by the 2000s is when you could rent a closet for $4,000 a month.
SPEAKER_00I remember it's so funny. Side note, like when the old Navy Soho first opened in Soho, that was in let's see late 90s.
SPEAKER_02Late 90s, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And there was still nothing down there. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It was still like No, I used to, I used to go to a restaurant down there, G with Val. Yeah. And it was pretty desolate.
SPEAKER_00Restaurant. Oh, I miss G and G's.
SPEAKER_02Oh my God. It was a restaurant during the day. During the day. I used to go at night. Right. Well, we used to go there during the day and then stay until I'm like, oh god, G and G.
SPEAKER_00But no, it's so I'm like. I don't remember. But yeah, I totally.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, in the 80s, I could see her making money off of a music video and being able to pay like a couple months' rent or whatever. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So I could I co-sign that. And if she had steady, it would be easier.
SPEAKER_02Right. She would have needed to have some steady work. And if it was rent control, sh she could have panhandled on a corner and paid two months' rent. So but anyway. Okay, enough about New York real estate. So so yeah, so the detective is like, there was CC footage from outside the loft, and the detective on scene said, Oh, that the friend was murdered by a startled intruder, some one-armed man. And the detective M, Marjorino, is like, yeah, you want to believe that, don't you? Alright, buddy, we'll get to you. You've got issues.
SPEAKER_00Seriously, he shouldn't even be on the case.
SPEAKER_02I know. Yeah. Can anyone here say conflict of interest? Anyway, Will is like, I've only committed one crime in my life. Let's get in the time machine and go back to 1988.
SPEAKER_00And they give the longest, he goes to the longest version. That's so funny. They always say, Well, I'll tell you the story, and then like it's so significant.
SPEAKER_02They tell stories worse than I tell stories. You just detailed, and they're not going to be able to do it. And I've been compared to Rose from The Golden Girls, okay? So let's. Oh my god. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I just I'm okay with it. No got the connection to now. Not wrong. I feel like a dumbass. I've never seen it before now.
SPEAKER_02Here I am aspiring to be Sophia and yet I'm Rose, but alright. I gotta work on that. Alright. Ready? We we're in our time machine? Okay. Here we are. We landed in 1988. Sam is living in the city now with Jenna and Carla. Because, you know, every this is like, I'm telling you, the the people who made this show were definitely Friends fans, okay? Because this is like Monica's apartment.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Also rent controlled because she's a 97-year-old Jewish lady who doesn't live in Boca. But anyway. Remember, it the apartment belonged to her grandmother. I know.
SPEAKER_00I still think you're nuts.
SPEAKER_02And every single friend had lived in that apartment. The only one you don't see is Ross, but he lived there when he was in college. So they've all lived in that apartment. In that apartment.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. That apartment should have been in Sex in the City. Okay.
SPEAKER_00If apartment could be in if Samantha could be in apartment, that's the apartment.
SPEAKER_02So, okay. Um Will and Sam, they talk, and Sam is like, oh my God, I have money troubles. And Will is basically like, I love you. Here's money. Sam is like, yeah, but you don't even know, but I need a lot of money. You don't know what it's for. I don't need to know what it's for. Here, take money. I got money. So he offers her the money, whatever she needs. He's like, it's yours. But then the deal falls through. Wahm, woman So later, we're gonna talk about the unethical shit that he does because he promised the money to the girl, so he's gotta get it. So I wrote my notes, and apparently autocorre. I just realized autocorrect changed Aaron to apron.
SPEAKER_00So apron is now wearing an apron. Great.
SPEAKER_02Yes. He is living, Aaron is living in Seattle. He's on the phone with Carla. He wants her to move there because big things are happening and like coffee. So, like, you know, we're supposed to be like, oh, Nirvana, Starbucks. Like, yeah, okay. And she's like, Oh, but you're not coming to Jenna's big party. He's like, Are you fucking stupid? I live 3,000 miles away. I'm broke. Where the how the fuck am I getting there?
SPEAKER_00And then, but like, you know where she like his heart was broken. She just wants to see him so badly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And so we find out Jenna's having a big party because she's got like this movie premiere, or I forgot exactly what it was, but some something with a movie. Okay. And her mom is coming to town. So it's like, ooh, big news because Jenna's mom is coming. Sam is meeting with a lawyer who has really huge re reservations about taking the case because uh this is very tricky, Sam, and you would know that if you weren't fucking 20 and dumb. These people have been treating they they legally adopted this child. They've treated her as their own for over a year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02They're attached to her. This is the only family that that kid has ever known. And so I get what you think, but it's not just that simple. So the lawyer is like, this is really tough. And you are not even old enough to drink. You have no money. You have no job. You have no husband. What the fuck do you think, girl? So she's like, the only way that you can possibly have a shot is if there's a daddy and he's on board. So she's like, there's a dad, I'll get him on board. Off she goes. While she's doing that, we go back to present day. Turns out there's a second blood type found at the scene, and Detective wants a sample from Will. Now I have a question about this, right?
SPEAKER_00Since we know that not only have they all the friends spent time at this apartment, but they've had parties there and you know, obviously like Well, we don't know what's happened in the last 20 years, so Right.
SPEAKER_02But how do there is a way, right? There is a way to find out how old a blood sample is, like within or is or am I wrong? Because the point is that, right, that if if Carla cut herself shaving her legs in 1988 and she dripped and Sam and Jenna are terrible housekeepers, can't they just find that blood?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I don't know. Because okay, now probably I think there is. But even in 2005, which is that present day.
SPEAKER_02I mean, because even DNA was still pretty. I mean, it yes, it was a thing, but it wasn't as prominent as now.
SPEAKER_00Right. And then like the tests weren't as, you know. So I don't even think even at 2005, 2006 with that present day, I don't even think they could have been.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Like so that so that that struck me. Like, oh, there's a second blood type, but how do you know when it was from? You know, like Will and Craig could have gotten into a fight, one punched the other, and they got a nosebleed. I mean, I don't know. I'm just, you know, obviously.
SPEAKER_00And then obviously, even if it was a recent one, it doesn't be from that night. That well, that that's exactly my point.
SPEAKER_02It could be like the day before.
SPEAKER_00It could have been anything.
SPEAKER_02Could have been the year before. Like just how do you know? They don't know. No one ever knows. So that's that's my red string. Okay. Just add that string to the board. That how do we know there's a second blood type, that's fine, but how do we know when it was from? I mean, like, and I get with fingerprints because you can tell like which ones are on top. So that so yeah, or or if there's a blood type on top of another blood type, then yeah, but even still, it's like, how do you it's not the same as fingerprints? So, okay. And I'm uh obviously I'm looking at this with 2025 eyes, but And it's a TV show. Don't give a fuck. How many times do I have to tell you that? You know this.
SPEAKER_00How many times are we gonna tell you it's a TV show? We can go and I think this is.
SPEAKER_02I'm sorry, did I mistake this for real life? Did I did I think that Will and Sam and Craig actually exist? No, because I don't know where they exist with those fake ass taxis and that's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_00But I don't know. Sometimes I wonder, like like you know this TV, right? Sometimes I have to question just TV sanity.
SPEAKER_02When we review shit, I review it all. I take this position very, very seriously.
SPEAKER_00Very, very serious. You are very diligent in your role.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I'm looking at it all.
SPEAKER_00People gonna start sending you balls of yarn, like red yarn.
SPEAKER_02I I fucking hope so, because I just taught my daughter how to crochet, so it needs to know it needs to go on the board.
SPEAKER_00It needs to be like all right.
SPEAKER_02Well, then I need a board too.
SPEAKER_00All right, send her a board along with this rolls of yarn red string.
SPEAKER_02Also, like I've I just I started to watch the first episode of The Real World.
SPEAKER_01Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02And I was like, now obviously that is New York in the early 90s.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, they did a good job considering it was, you know, right then in there. Yeah, it was but but yeah, but but it's just funny how in the comparison was like I just feel like they could have taken, they definitely couldn't have watched old like I'm sure someone on that team watched. Like they could have watched fucking cheers, like they're gonna be like they could have watched anything and like got a better idea of like and there look can I say, oh, one other hot take?
SPEAKER_02Reunion, okay? The scenes that are in the 80s, there's definitely not enough people wearing chinos, okay? Because everybody fucking wore chinos in the 80s. Or like, you know what I mean? Button downs and the polos. Like Craig, yeah, he had the polo, but like not enough chinos. Everybody wanted to fucking shop at the gap. Am I wrong? You're not wrong. And oh, bit of time. Yes, the United Colors. Oh yes. Yes, they were. Okay. So I digress a little bit. Not really.
SPEAKER_00No, you're definitely on no, you're on topic. I approve.
SPEAKER_02Um okay. Let's go back to 1988. And Sam and Craig are sitting on some fictional fucking bench outside some fictional fucking park that I it looks like it's supposed to be like Washington Square Park. Who is it?
SPEAKER_00And Sam and Craig. Sam and Craig. I feel like some of the scenes, I wasn't confused if they were like and like in Bedford or not.
SPEAKER_02No, it said New York City.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it did? Okay.
SPEAKER_02It said New York City. The problem is that you see the taxi cab, except it's like the fake ass taxi cab that Phoebe's grandma drove. Like nobody drove those taxicabs in 1988. I'm sorry. Like it no. The only taxi cab was the one in front of the restaurant on 7th Avenue. I can't think of the name of the restaurant. You know what I'm talking about? On 7th Avenue South. Oh, right. That one. That that's the only taxi cab that checkered that looked like that in that.
SPEAKER_00Do you r remember that but they had like the seat like in the back, but and the it was they had the back seat, but they had the little like seat in the like by your foot. Like a little stool. There were taxis that we did take taxis. Oh, we took taxis a lot.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02So Milla always had a car.
SPEAKER_00Um, yeah. So it's like the back seat, and they had like the stool that's a good one. Taxis were too expensive for us.
SPEAKER_02I'm just saying, like, that's every time that we were in the city and it was like, oh, could we just take a capseat? No, that's too expensive. We got on the train.
SPEAKER_00My mother didn't drive, so. Yeah, my mother did. Oh. Ow? But I what happened? I don't know. I was gonna move my thumb and like the pain shot through my whole arm. Like joint pain. I was like, what I'm sorry. It just I look confused. I'm like, you ever had like a weird pain? And you just you're just confused by it? And then you're like, that hurt.
SPEAKER_02Okay, but wait, I want to hear more about this stool in a taxi at the field.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. So In the backseat? In the back seat. And with the back seat, between the backseat and like the barrier, it was a little bit further back. And then they had like a little, like a flip down, and this, yeah, I used to love sitting in that.
SPEAKER_02Was it okay, so the older cars, like the Oldsmobiles, the Buicks, like the Chrysers, like all those old cars. Hold on, hold on. So you know how they had back then, even in the front, you had the um, I forgot what you call it, the like the row seat that it could fit like three people. But you had the armrest. So like if if so if a third person wasn't sitting in the front row, you could put the armrest down. Otherwise, you could pick it up and it was like for your back. So could it have been that, like where it went the other way and turned into a seat?
SPEAKER_00No, it was actually like a little stool. And this is the only I'm gonna send you a picture. Okay. Of like because these cabs. Fascinated. I've never known this. Is this the same one that Phoebe's grandmother drove? No, I can't remember. You know, like the rounded Yeah. Yeah, that's the that's the one that had, because the space between the division, the divider, and this there was the extra leg room. And it had room for that that little flip over, the little stool.
SPEAKER_02And but those taxis weren't the norm.
SPEAKER_00No, and that's why that's why I love getting into those because they had that little stool. I said, I was wondering if that's the same one you were thinking. I don't know. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They had the little stool in the back. The little like Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So while they're sitting on the bench, back to the whole thing. Oh, yeah, back to the like the fake. But then you see like a hill behind them, and I'm like, where the fuck are hills like that? Have I missed the hills in Manhattan?
SPEAKER_00I mean, unless you count the rocks in Central Park, I used to love climbing those too.
SPEAKER_02Um I mean, I know like, especially once you go north, and like, yeah, there's this airy hill. No, you look crazy. It's it's very flat. Like, that looked like San Francisco Hill. That didn't look like Manhattan. Manhattan is very fucking flat until you get north. But even still, they're not like. And yeah, there's hills, like especially if you go towards like the east side, and you, you know, yeah, it goes down towards the west. But nothing like that. But it's not like that. Like where you can visually see the hill. Yeah, it's not like that. So I'm like, I don't know what Washington Square Park they're at, but it's not this one.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I because I had to Google it, because it was really bothering me. That was filled in Vancouver.
SPEAKER_02Ah, okay. Cause I'm like, yeah, I'm not perfect. But when you when it's New York, you know it's New York. And when it's not, you know. You know. A lot of New York shows are filmed in um Canada.
SPEAKER_00A lot of shows, though, because it's cheaper.
SPEAKER_02That's true. That's true. So So, okay. They're sitting on their fake bench, well, the real bench in their fake city, and they're talking they're talking about past mistakes, and Sam is like, Did you ever make a mistake so bad? And Craig just looks at her like, Are you fucking stupid? Like, are you fucking dumb? And then she's like, Oh my, I'm sorry. Well, apparently that's why he was in Central America because he felt really bad about the whole situation with Will and him taking the rap. And funny, you went and helped people, and that's all great and all, but maybe you should have just came fucking clean. But you know, what do I know? And Sam, uh, same. So they're wishing that they could take shit back, and Sam is like, you know what? The truth shall set me free. Off she goes. Jenna is at lunch with her mom, and her mom is not drinking, and Jenna's very surprised. She's like, I'm sober for one year tomorrow, and you would know that if you answered my calls. Jenna's like, uh, okay, sure. Oh, look, Diggle's the director I like. Jenna's mom is like, you should invite him to your party. Because if there's anything that I taught you, it's how to get the guy. Sam goes to talk to Will. She goes all the way up to Bedford because, you know, she's on her truth mission. She goes to Bedford and ooh, would you look at that? Who would have guessed? He's not there. It's the classic TV switcheroo. Because he's actually in the city looking for her.
SPEAKER_00Womp womp womp.
SPEAKER_02Is this Ross and Emily in London? And I'm sorry. Which show are we watching? Uh, but when Will answers the door, because okay, so Sam is up in Bedford and she's like, but I'll wait. And she's and they're like, yeah, he took the whole afternoon off. He's not coming back. So he's in the city, he's at the loft, Craig answers the door, and Craig is like, uh, which one of Charlie's angels are you here to see? And he's like, Sam. And he's like, I bet you fucking are, huh? He's like, well, just let her know that I got what she needs tomorrow. He's like, I got what you need. But you say you're just a friend. And you say yeah. Craig is like, no one, and I mean no one will stand in my way of Sam. This is all like, yeah, these two are gonna fucking kill each other. Okay. Can we can can everybody just repeat after me? Sam is not property. Everyone is making fucking plans for Sam. And and Sam is like, I need to tell somebody the truth, but she never finds a way to do it.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so while okay, so the typical like love triangle trope and the stupid I'm not sure if I would have watched if I would have came back, made sure I watched this when I first air. Mm-hmm. I know what you're saying. Because it's just like, it's case, it's cute, but it would it's not enough, it's it's more annoying. And it's so fucking predictable.
SPEAKER_02Like it's it's like they had a list of TV tropes and it's a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00And they just went off the check it off. Check. I think if they focus more on like the mystery part, I would be a little bit more interest. Like uh I yeah.
SPEAKER_02I think I think that they I understand that yes, the story is taking place in 1988, but I kind of wish that there was a little bit more meat in the present-day scene. Yes. Either that or or more meat in 1988, because it just feels like they're only scratching the surface and they could be really uh giving us more clues.
SPEAKER_00Three episodes in, I'm sorry, I kind of want to forget, three episodes in, I could kind of see why I didn't the season didn't finish.
SPEAKER_02Uh unfortunately, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And we're going back. Yes. I mean, to be fair, us going on tangents is on brand, so.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah, yeah. Uh a mini clip to present day where I guess Will's priest boss comes in, and they're like, ooh, you in trouble with your boss? And Will is like, You in trouble with your boss.
SPEAKER_00You in trouble, my boss. Sound that's a good one.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So back in 1988, Carla is urging Sam not to give up. You gotta tell Will. And also, hey, I'll just take the nanny job. Because then that'll work out great, and you can see your baby.
SPEAKER_00They, I swear to God, I know they're still young, but they still have like the mentality of a 14-year-old. Have they never seen TV?
SPEAKER_02I mean, we'd we've never had to have secret babies and become nannies to know that this will not work out.
SPEAKER_00And I and you know what, and honestly, at this point in 1988, they still had um NYPD Blue. They had homicide, they had TV shows that did that would have told them this was not going to work out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Actually, was NYP no NYPD Blue, was it in 1988? I mean, was it in the 80s?
SPEAKER_00Or no, the 90s. I thought it was yeah. Homicide was in the 80s. Homicide Life on the Street. Yes, yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think that was late 80s. Um, what's that other one?
SPEAKER_00Hill Hill Street Blues was the line. Hill Street Blues was the 70s and the 80s. Right, but but so yeah. It was already a thing. I used to watch that too. I was way too young to be watching that.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, but you had Columbo, you had um Matlock, like you had other legal themed shows.
SPEAKER_00Homicide started in '93.
SPEAKER_02Did it really? I thought it was earlier than that. Because I just know Munch was like he he used to be one of the longest run characters on TV. Because he was um he was in homicide before he was on SVU. Hill Street was 81. Okay. But I thought homicide was a little earlier. I guess not. Okay, so no, they didn't have homicide, but they had other stuff. They had plenty of stuff.
SPEAKER_00Oh maybe not. I mean, I don't know. But yeah. Yeah. As you're talking and it's funny, as we're going back and talking about it, I wasn't annoyed watching it. I'm annoyed at the insanity. I'm annoyed at the writing and the the where it's going as we're talking about. I'm like, yeah, that was annoying. Oh yeah, this is a little uh.
SPEAKER_02In present day, Will is still talking to the detective, saying that bribery is the only crime that he's ever committed, you know. And then the detective is like, oh no, and what about the car accident that killed somebody? Will says he's made peace with that because it was 20 years ago. And he's made peace with his role. And the detective is like, well, I'm not fucking over it, so let's talk about it because I need to harp on this shit. I'm conflicted right here. Because forget the fact that Will technically didn't do it. Let's pretend that he did do it. Let's pretend that the story is as he said. It was a car accident. It's tragic that it resulted in the death of another person, and I'm not taking that away. But Will was sentenced, he completed his sentence, and as far as we know, let's give him the benefit of the doubt because we don't know all the events that took place in his life between 88 and now. But if he has done his time and made his peace, how will we ever move forward if we are not allowed to um like like we do our penance and we move on? But if you can't move on, if you're always having that stuff from your past on your shoulders, what's the point? You know what I mean? Like I'm really turned about.
SPEAKER_00As far as they know, because Will wasn't drinking, as far as they know.
SPEAKER_02He had like a beer, they said.
SPEAKER_00A beer, but he wasn't drunk. He wasn't drunk, and as I mean, granted, he was too young to be drinking, but as far as you know, it was a complete and utter accident. Accident. Which happens. I can get if it was Craig that actually like you, you were drinking, you're irresponsible, you would never get I can get that, but that being said, right.
SPEAKER_02He didn't do it maliciously. Right. The accident, first of all, the accident, even the way it actually took place, wasn't malicious. It was very irresponsible. Irresponsible. And then you're paying your debt. He he he didn't get away with it. He paid his debt. Exactly. And 20 years later, now, of course, we don't know if something happened in those 20 years. So we're just we're just really looking at this with like all the benefits of all the doubts and saying.
SPEAKER_00And that being said, Flip, I feel like if it was my family member that died from his mistake, I think I may be a little bit uh I will probably hate you for the rest of your life and want to see you punished.
SPEAKER_02But but but this is like when the greedy businessman is like, no, the immigrants are your problem because they're stealing your jobs when mind you, they're firing you so they can hire someone cheaper. You're blaming the wrong person. Oh, Stella agrees. She was like preach, I speak dog. So you are mad at the kid who was a kid who coped okay, and and and again, we're talking about. From the detective's point of view, right? Under the assumption that Will was the one who hit him. But for all you know, it was a kid who fucked up and said, okay, I fucked up. That's my sentence. I'll do my sentence. I did my time. I'm trying to be an upstanding member of society now. Maybe you should be mad at the hospital. Who let him go? Who listened to him?
SPEAKER_00That was another thing I was thinking about. I was like, what about the hospital that let him go?
SPEAKER_02Exactly. And listen, and and and who knows, right? If he was a black guy, then the hospital definitely was like, nah, fuck it. He's fine.
SPEAKER_00That actually bothered me as I'm listening to him. Like, why wasn't this ever brought up? But then that goes against the whole premise of, you know, doesn't there's no protagonist, no antagonist with for the protagonist.
SPEAKER_02I know. But like you're mad at the wrong people. Like I get it. You lost your family member, and that's fucked up.
SPEAKER_00But you're holding on to women for the wrong person. The hospital personally. Hell fucking, yeah. I'm like, yes, you need to you need to go to jail because you were irresponsible, but the hospital's paying up and Right.
SPEAKER_02Or or be mad at the judge who gave him that sentence. Do you think that Will should have been like, no, Miss Ma'am, I deserve to spend the rest of my life in jail? Of course not. No one does that. No one is gonna do that. The judge gave him a sentence, he took his sentence. The hospital let the guy go, the guy died. You're mad at all the wrong fucking people. Anyway, let's go to Jenna's party, okay? Okay, I'm there. Mom is there acting like Jenna's new BFF, and Jenna thinks it's creepy. The director shows up, and Sam says, the first rule is make him come to you. Sam is fucking sitting at a window moping because she's waiting for somebody. And Craig is like, You're waiting for somebody? And she's like, Yeah. And I and I think even Craig is like, yeah, she's fucking waiting for Will. Like, let me swoop in.
SPEAKER_00She's actually starting to get on my nerves though.
SPEAKER_02I like really? He'll get there when he fucking gets there. You think sitting in that window is gonna make him arrive faster? Have a fucking fun time at your party. So they're they're talking, and Craig is bringing up all these old times, and he's like, Oh, this was our prom song. You should dance with me because you owe me that. She don't owe you nothing. Go away. Like, go away. In the meantime, Will is not at the party because his boss is like, so I found out what you did, and what he did was bribe the guy who made the deal fall through because the guy was like, Well, what do I get out of it? And apparently what he got out of it. Yeah, was $5,000. So Will bribed him. The deal was back on. Craig's dad is like, so I know what you did last week. And he's like, okay, great. So am I fired? He's like, no, here's your bonus. Have fun. Well, you don't, what do you think? You're gonna get in trouble. Obviously not. You don't think you're gonna get in trouble for anything.
SPEAKER_00This is very with the Wall Street vibes.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but in Bedford. It's like the Wall Street of Bedford. So Will is like, awesome. Let me go run and give that money to Sam. He heads to the city. He shows up at the party, and as soon as I think Carla opens the door, he sees Sam dancing with Craig. And he's like, uh Yeah. Because apparently, apparently, she should not have been doing that. She should have been sitting in a fucking corner, twiddling her goddamn thumbs, just waiting for him to do that. Well, yeah. Which is even more pathetic. Just so that his feelings could be validated. Because instead he sees them dancing and is like, give her the give her this, and I'm leaving.
SPEAKER_00Whoa is me.
SPEAKER_02All of these, oh my. These men can't even fucking handle their feelings. Okay? Mine, mine, mine. Boo-hoo-hoo. Mind you, Jenna is trying to find that director guy, because apparently the come-to-me approach wasn't working. So she's like, hmm, where is he? Well, she finds him. And she finds him hooking up with her mom. So I guess those who can do also teach. Carla, the next day, we find out Carla gets the job, because of course she does. And I mean, this could only go bad even if it wasn't TV. Like, Sam meets up with Will and she tries to give him back the money, and she tries to tell him. And he is like, nope, nope, I don't want to hear it. Craig always gets it he wants, and you guys are gonna get back together. And she's like, um, can I talk? And he's like, no, because I have my feelings are hurt and I can't listen. He's done listening, he's done waiting, and I hope for fucking God's sakes that he's also done whining because I can't take anymore. In Seattle, Aaron, this time my phone got it right, is doodling like A's, the letter A's for like logos and shit. And he says he's working on a business plan for his new company. The waitress chick is like, hey, what you doing? Yeah, okay. But he's like, hey, do you want to go out? And she's like, cool. So I guess you're not that cool either. Next, we see Will having a meeting because he's got a very important, because while he's with um Sam, he gets paged and he's like, I gotta get to a very important client. Well, your very important client is actually the feds. Whoops. They know yeah, they know all about his bribe. And they're like, so you work with us and we'll expunge your record or you're fucked, basically. So, you know, here we go again.
SPEAKER_00That kind of bug me that I'm like, you can actually put him away. Like, you don't have to expunge his record. It's like, I don't know, okay, we got you for bribery. So either work with us or don't us or don't. And if you don't, you're going to jail for the bribery. Yeah. The whole expunge. Especially that he has a record. Right. You didn't have to throw, like, the care wasn't necessary, but I digress. Right.
SPEAKER_02And so Will is once again, rock, hard place, here. Here. It's a real quagmire. Uh, and in the present day, Detective Marjorino is still with his goddamn heart on for this fucking accident and Will. And we learn that it is because he is the guy's son. But he's not his son, he's a stepson, but actually he's his son because his real dad died, and then this guy came along, and then this guy died. And he's got the shittiest luck with dads. Um be that guy's dad, because you're gonna die.
SPEAKER_00Did you see there's a show? I kind of want to watch it called Laid.
SPEAKER_02I yeah, I saw, I saw. I didn't watch it, but I saw.
SPEAKER_00I want to see it. Like, I wish some of my exes would have. Okay, um. What is it about? Okay, so apparently all her exes, like three of her exes died. So her and her friend are like, I gotta tell all the guys I've dated that I'm a jinx. So she's like, so she goes through and tells all like her exes, like, I'm a jinx, you're gonna die. Don't like, and then she, I think, through the process, she ends up liking a guy.
SPEAKER_02It's like letting me drive your car, it'll probably overheat.
SPEAKER_00Yes, exactly. Exactly. My brand new car. I'm gonna change it in. I think March, I might want to think about turning it.
SPEAKER_02I don't want to hear about your new car. Twenty years later, I'll still be driving this one.
SPEAKER_00Well, no, because come this summer, you'll be able you worked on a plan that you'll be able to get it.
SPEAKER_02First of all, come this summer, uh, when these cult members, Orange Jesus, put tariffs on everything. I could I'm not even gonna be able to afford tires for my current car.
SPEAKER_00Good point. So I'm not getting a new car. We're gonna be positive.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna be positive. My car is not gonna break down.
unknownFine.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, still in present day. Oh, so they so they want in in present day, right? So they got their blood sample from Will, and they're like, you know, with his stupid fucking heart on, and he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna prove that this was you, and blah, blah, blah. And Will's like, yeah, okay, go ahead, do it. Do whatever the fuck you want. I don't care. Goodbye. So Will then leaves the police station, and we see him walk up to this fancy building with a big old A out front.
SPEAKER_00He's like, Is he in?
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But like, I like that part. Okay. Where have we seen this A before? I don't know. Oh my god. It just I I just can't place it, Lisa. I know. And he's like, is he in for Will Malloy? And the secretary lady is like, yeah. He's a team. And they go, we're now in an office, and who's there? Will and Carla and Aaron.
SPEAKER_00Will's looking hot now, though.
SPEAKER_02I know, right? He aged. I mean, he aged well. Like it's I that's another thing that I will say, though. That the show does a really good job with the age differential. They grow, yes, I can. They do a really good job with the makeup and the wardrobe.
SPEAKER_00And to be fair, Will Estees, who plays Will, he had okay, obviously, because I watched him in um Blue Bloods just recently, you know, he still looks the same that he did 20 fucking 20 years ago. He's what he has one of those faces that's not gonna age ever. So the fact that they're able to get that, I was impressed. Right.
SPEAKER_02But I mean, even Aaron, you know, like with the hair, and and I was like, it's really like looking at him 20 years later.
SPEAKER_00They did a fun, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So that they did really, really well. So anyway, so obviously Aaron's company, whatever it was, is a success. And Aaron is in his fancy like tech bro office, you know, like he he might as well be running Google and shit. And Aaron is like, just how big is this problem?
SPEAKER_00As they close the door for dramatic effect.
SPEAKER_02I know. And it's like you could have ended on a better line. Obviously, we know you have a problem. The the the you know, the reveal was Aaron. But it's like, but really, you should have given us a little bit more. Some something else, because if the reveal was Aaron, then just leave it at that. How big is this problem? It's obviously fucking big, okay? You're all being investigated by the goddamn cops. It's big. What what what like you didn't need me to tell you this? Like you're obviously a smart guy, right? You you've got a priest and a Carla in your office and the company can think. And you need them, you need the priest to tell you how big the problem is when you're all being investigated by the cops. You have a problem.
SPEAKER_00The fact that they're going so hard on the priest, like, hello, you know.
SPEAKER_02I know. I should tell you something. I think your problem is bigger than being investigated if you can't see that you have a problem.
SPEAKER_00I think if the line was something like something like, okay, well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02It has to be an open-ended question, but it's more like, who do you think they're gonna talk to next? Some something open-ended but specific. Yes. Yes.
SPEAKER_00Because we know you have a problem.
SPEAKER_02We already knew that. Ask us something we don't know.
SPEAKER_00Like, okay, so what's next? Or what are we gonna like what's the are we doing on to the next whatever. I think it could- Or br or ow, or bring back the gun.
SPEAKER_02Did they find out who you got the gun from? Or like you know what I mean? Something, yeah, yeah. Something that makes us be like, oh wait, oh fuck, cliffhanger. You know? Yeah, this was not exactly not I know that. Yeah, yeah. Okay, so do they I'm I'm available if you need consulting for TV. We're available.
SPEAKER_00At the end of this episode, like I said earlier, totally see why it didn't. They didn't even finish airing this first season. I know. And I see why.
SPEAKER_02I mean, granted, if it wasn't for the podfast podfest, podcast, wow. We were talking about Podfest before we started recording. Um, but anyway, if it wasn't for the podcast, I definitely would have continued watching. This is a show that I will even if it stays like this, I will still continue to watch the whole series.
SPEAKER_00It would be background noise for me. Like I wouldn't be as Oh no, I would watch it. I will watch it as I'm doing something.
SPEAKER_02I I would watch it while I'm crochet uh cross-stitching.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, 100%. But I would watch it. But if if I'm breaking it down, then I have a lot more criticisms. Like, that was a dumb fucking question. Maybe um I don't know who created this show, but when you're ready to create the next one, uh assassinsips.com to get in touch with us because we are available to help. We know what we like. So uh yeah. Anyway, the episode ends there, and these are some of the things that I was looking at while I was watching the episode, okay? Number one, I was on Locket Watch because Carla had the locket the whole episode. So now it's really, really, really reinforcing my theory that somehow the locket ends up with Amy, because Sam Jr. is now Amy.
SPEAKER_00Sam Jr., yes.
SPEAKER_02I mean, maybe she's she will be Sam Jr. later. I don't know. She kidnaps the kid, who knows? But but it's Sam Jr. is now Amy. They keep mentioning the loft. So the loft is obviously a central theme in the episode. It's kind of the way the island was a character in Lost.
SPEAKER_00The loft is a character in the group.
SPEAKER_02The loft is a character. And they haven't disproven my theory that maybe Alja fucking did it because he was mad because he was never in the fucking group, okay? I'm just saying. You know, another mediocre white guy getting pissed off, shooting people. Where have we seen that before? Oh, just like every school in America. They all spend time in the loft. So like the blood could be anybody's. It's just like such a fucking red herring.
SPEAKER_00Is it a red herring or just bad writing? Oh, that's a good question. And I think we need to watch these two more episodes before we can answer that question.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm on the fence.
SPEAKER_02I I think that it's supposed to be a red herring.
SPEAKER_00But badly written.
SPEAKER_02But they could have done better.
SPEAKER_00For sure. Because we're professional no script writers.
SPEAKER_02Yes. I I heard my string was in the mail, so let's go let's do this. I mean, I have string, I just don't have red yarn.
SPEAKER_00It has to be red. It has to be red.
SPEAKER_02I had I had like fuchsia-colored yarn. Oh, that's I have red thread, because cross-stitch, I have like 40 different shades of red, actually, because I have like eight boxes filled with thread for all my cross-stitch needs. If anyone wants to do me to do like a cross-stitch tutorial, I can't so here's here's a problem. Okay, side note, right? Crochet talk. I'm right-handed and my daughter is left-handed. So trying, like, I can I can't follow a pattern for shit, but like I can crochet with my eyes closed. So like it just I just do it. But because she's left-handed, I try to do it with my left hand because I know, right?
SPEAKER_00Like in my head, I know what to do. At this point, it's muscle memory. It's not, you're not thinking about it. Your body, yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_02And so watching the two of us try to crochet together was fucking comical. Because she's trying to do it with her right hand. I'm trying to do it with my left hand. And then, and I'm like, and she's like, oh, crocheting is such a right-handed thing. And I was like, but it's not, it's just that right hand, right-handedness is just a dominant trait. So chances are that whatever video you're watching to try to learn, the person will probably be right-handed. Because she Google left-handed crochet. So I don't know why she didn't. Either that or she didn't find it. But so like I'm gonna, I'm gonna try to find her like left-handed. Cause I I did it, but it was so awkward.
SPEAKER_00No, it's totally weird. So now she's just doing it with her right hand. I think Axel is gonna be a southpaw. Like he does some things. Like he when he as he was a child, as a child, a young, whatever, he did a lot of things with his left hand. Okay. But he's also doing a lot of things with his right hand as he got.
SPEAKER_02Well, do you want him to be left-handed?
SPEAKER_00I don't care.
SPEAKER_02Oh, cuz because I I used to put stuff in her left hand.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_02I facilitated that a little bit. I don't care. I think lefties are so cool. I mean, I never no, okay. I I never like if she picked something up with her right hand, I didn't be like no and move it. Like people do right. Like they used to do with right-handed.
SPEAKER_00They treat people who were did left hand like yes. You doing it vice versa though.
SPEAKER_02But I but right, like, so I was like, you know, left-handed people are so fucking cool though. You ever noticed that? Like left-handed people, I don't know what it is, but they tend to be way more artistic. They tend to be more open to like the arts and the music, and yeah, so if you if you have any left-handed crochet videos, send them our way too, because I'll forward them to my kid. But um, the next episode I assume is 1989. And I don't think I have anything else for this episode. Oh, oh, who do you think is gonna be the next person to be revealed alive?
SPEAKER_00Um, I think Jenna's gonna be alive. I was thinking about Jenna.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I was thinking it was gonna be Jenna, but then I was thinking about that comment that she made in the last episode, like, I'll be dead in 20 years. So I feel like, do they really wanna extend that mystery and maybe make it Craig? So I don't know. Jenna was my first guest too, but now, but then I thought about that comment and I'm not so sure.
SPEAKER_00Then back to Samantha being like the central focus with a lot. So it'd be obvious that she'd be the kill the one that's killed. I know, it could be either way.
SPEAKER_02Because Craig and Sam are two are are much more integral to this love triangle bullshit. So yeah, I you know what I think I'll I'll agree with you. I'll go, Jenna.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_02Do you have any updates on crazy theories, or is it still like Craig's cat and the staircase?
SPEAKER_00And that was your theory. I don't know, and it wasn't. I don't remember what I said three weeks ago. I know. I thought that what should we call it? Russell killed somebody.
SPEAKER_02Who the fuck is Russell?
SPEAKER_00Craig's father.
SPEAKER_02He has a name?
SPEAKER_00He has a name. Yes, he has a name.
SPEAKER_02I got it. I got it. Sam they found out that Sam had this baby. And then because Will was now a priest like and and he can't, you know, be bothered to listen to Sam, and Craig always gets what he wants. So, and because Sam in this episode was like, I can't have kids, because he was like, Oh, we'll get married and we'll blah blah blah blah, everything that you've ever wanted. And she's just like, I can't have any of that. And he's like, No, but it's okay, still love you. I want, I want you. So he found out that she had a kid and was like, This is our opportunity. And since Craig always gets what he wants, he got Sam, he got the kid, he has a shit ton of money, family money. So the father somehow got rid of the family, the Phillips. Okay. He he made them disappear somehow, legally or otherwise. And now the baby is back. Craig and Sam are living this happy relationship. He may know that it's not his, he may not know it's not his. I don't know. But then the father. Found out that it's not his.
SPEAKER_00I mean, she is a blonde little girl and both of them are brunettes. So I'm pretty sure. Um, hello. Have you seen my parents? This is also TV. So that's kind of obvious. They're gonna be obvious with the different, like she's blonde with brunettes. They're not gonna go into Twitter. Well, that's true.
SPEAKER_02And and when Carla looked at the picture, she's like, oh my gosh, she looks just like her father.
SPEAKER_00So I figured, like, they're not gonna go into the the the whole genetics, great grandfather could be like we know in real world it could still be the because I have blonde hair and blue eyes. My okay, you saw and you know my mother's. Right. So I know real world, but TV world, they kind of keep it one plus one is two. They don't do, yeah. Let's be real.
SPEAKER_02All right, fine. But somehow the father doesn't realize this. Let's just can we just go back to my theory? Somehow the father missed that lesson.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he missed that part. Okay. And then found out that You don't think Sammy Jr. You don't think Samantha Jr. did it? Did the murder? Well, no, because you said that the father did it. Oh I did.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god, I need alcohol. So then the father was like, this fucking hoeing bitch and killed Sam because he found out that the baby wasn't Craig's and he put all the money to help her and was like, you know, another hurt white guy.
SPEAKER_00And was like womp womp.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so he had a kill him. Okay. How about that theory for the dad did it? I like that. Okay. Well, we also know Aaron's not dead, so he's a suspect.
SPEAKER_00We're gonna put that on the board too now. We're gonna put um the whole dad did it theory next to Sammy Jr. The daddy did it.
SPEAKER_02Daddy did it. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Next to Sammy Jr. did it. I still don't call her Sammy Jr. Um, Sammy, but Sammy Jr.
SPEAKER_02did did it to who?
SPEAKER_00Sammy. Sam.
SPEAKER_02Why? Because she lied about her whole life?
SPEAKER_00I think it was an accident.
SPEAKER_02No. Not because like she had like these really good parents, and then you like you came and fucked up my whole life. I think it was the maybe. I could have went and lived in Washington, D.C. and known Olivia Pope and you took that all fucking away from me. I think they got into a fight.
SPEAKER_00But the murder, like the murder was an accident. It wasn't like intentional murder. I think it could like, oh shit.
SPEAKER_02See, that that's true only because Carla and Will are going so hard to protect.
SPEAKER_00Whoever it is.
SPEAKER_02And while Will might protect Craig's dad because of the chances that he got, why would Krada?
SPEAKER_00I would definitely I don't right. Yeah, Carla. Exactly. So Sammy Jr. did it by accident and they're going crazy to protect her. Because they know because one, she's that's that's niece. You know what I mean? That's she's family. And it was an accident, and shit happened. What? Okay. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02But if Sammy Jr. is unalive, then how does she go on to star in My Two Dads?
SPEAKER_00Sammy Jr. is not unalive. Sammy Jr. Oh right, right, right.
SPEAKER_02Oh right. And then she changes her name and she goes to star in My Two Dads. Because we're in the 80s. So we've got to keep with it. Because she has Willie. Right. And the mom is out of the picture. So that's how they got my two dads. Stacy Keenan and right, that's her name? Stacy Keenan. Polarizer. And I can't think of the other guy's name.
SPEAKER_00I'm looking at their face. I can't.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like the one is the dorky guy and the other one was like the hot guy. I'll let you listener think who's who, but I can't think of the other guy's name. Anyway. Okay. So yeah. They have to protect her so she can have a career on TV. Obviously.
SPEAKER_00Obviously. Then Jenna help her got Jenna helped her get.
SPEAKER_02Duh. Somebody's gotta pay for that loft.
SPEAKER_00Oh, nobody's with control, so it's okay.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, but you know.
SPEAKER_00It probably cost like $800.
SPEAKER_02My god, could you imagine? That'd be amazing. I need to get me a rent control apartment.
SPEAKER_00I mean it's too late though, because it's still be sky high. It's as high as a, as my mother used to say, it's as high as a giraffe's pussy.
SPEAKER_02That's pretty high.
SPEAKER_00She wasn't talking about prices, talking about we were so high.
SPEAKER_02You got anything else?
SPEAKER_00I got nothing for you.
SPEAKER_02Alright. Well then I think we're gonna see each other in 1989, because I'm done with this episode. Well, can't wait to hear what story is next. Let's see what happens in 1989. Which new character is not dead?
SPEAKER_00And I don't think they're going to bring I don't think in my head, I think to stretch it out, I don't think we're gonna get a new person. I I could see that. I think we're getting more.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I think that that would be the smart thing to do. And it becomes a lot of people.
SPEAKER_00Because they've given us a few. When their plan was to have at least 20 episodes, because it's supposed to be a year for each episode. That was the initial plan. So I I have a few. You know, that brings up a point for me. Okay.
SPEAKER_02In the intro, they talk about every year, is it every episode is a different year or something, something I forgot how they word it, but Yeah. And yes, TV shows in and around 2005 usually had 20-ish episodes per season. Some a little bit more, very few less. So I can see how that was the plan. What were they gonna do after season one?
SPEAKER_00Had they had Okay, I know they only paid, they only season one was supposed to be 13 episodes, period. So I'm thinking season two, like maybe if it worked out, was gonna be was gonna pick up the last, and then boom, boom, boom, mid-season finale at the end of the 20 years, you know, seven episodes later, another murder. And then here we go again. That was in my head. That's I think that's what they could have that's what they could have done. Okay. I can see that that would have worked.
SPEAKER_02Or or even like after the 20 years, after we get to current day, the rest of the season could have just been present day leading up to and around the murder and solving it and or that. I guess so.
SPEAKER_00But like I just feel like they've limited themselves because Well, I think at once we watch the 13 episodes, I think we you and I, because we're professional TV watchers, we'll have a better idea where they could have gone if they got if it got a big thing.
SPEAKER_02Well, and if it's and if it's worthwhile, we might have to call our good friend, our good writing friend, our wonderful author friend, and say, Melissa, you write the rest of this shit.
SPEAKER_00There's a couple episodes. There's a couple things we need her to rewrite for us.
SPEAKER_02Melissa, can you just please write the next season so that we can pretend. Thank you.
SPEAKER_00We can just play, you know, we'll we'll play a couple characters, change our voices.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. If she wrote another season, I would definitely read it.
SPEAKER_00So But she'll have to write like a script and we can play different characters. We get up and get our kids involved. Like our kids are older though.
SPEAKER_02Oh my goodness.
SPEAKER_00Can I Okay, so nursing home right now.
SPEAKER_02My my youngest one, my 11-year-old, had to write a story in school. And they they were given a prompt, and it was like her prompt was something like something under the rug or something. So it was just me and the girls, and she's like, Do you want to read my story? So I was like, Yeah, sure. So I'm reading the story, and there's two characters, Dave and Margaret, and they hear so they hear something they're like an older couple, and they hear something under the rug, and she's like, and then Dave runs around, so then one of my kids gets up and runs around, and they're like, What do I hear? And then the other one is like, so I'm reading and they're acting it out, and we're cracking the fuck up. Like they made it so fun because, first of all, the story was a little like, this is odd. Um, do I need to stop watching Law and Order? But but it was pretty well written for an 11-year-old. Like it was actually really well written. And at the end, I don't know what the guy caught under the rug, but he ate it. And then him and Margaret died. And I'm like, well, that took a dark turn. And Amaris is like, well, at least it wasn't as bloody as the story that my teacher called you for. And I was like, that is true. That one I did have to stop watching. Because the teacher was like, is everything okay at home? And I was like, Yeah, why? And she's like, uh, why don't I show you the story that your kid wrote in like third grade? And I was like, Whoops, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, at least the k at least they care. I feel like if it happened nowadays, they would have like, oh, interesting.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, it was like eight years ago, wasn't that long ago, but the world has changed a lot in age. Yeah, yeah. She was like, um, aware of this, and I was like, Oh, I oh, yeah, okay, yeah, no, I'm I'm they're like, maybe you just watch a lot of true crime, and I was like, I do. I will stop.
SPEAKER_00I watch, I listen, I subscribe.
SPEAKER_02Like she Yeah, so but yeah, we had fun acting, acting that out. And then when Alex came home, Amaya was like really excited to read him the story, or for him to read the story, and then I asked her the next day, I was like, Did dad like your story? And she was like, Yeah, but he didn't read it good enough. I was like, Well, he didn't have me and like the backup players, so we had our own like version of SNL going on over here.
SPEAKER_00I think you need to have your own like theory.
SPEAKER_02My own not ready for primetime players going on here.
SPEAKER_00Listen, generational wealth. Yeah, you could be a mama jer. Okay, listen, there's a lot to be said for um Chris Jenner and her mama role. Like, take the sex tape out of it. Take that like take that part out of it, but the skills. All her kids are million billionaires.
SPEAKER_02You know what I mean? Yeah, but without that sex tape, what they have an OJ trial?
SPEAKER_00I'm just saying, take what what she used to. She has skills, she turned a negative into a positive, okay? That's true. So her skills as a momager is you know she it's a lot to be learned from her.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_00I'm just gonna let you have that one. I'm just saying, take away what she had in front of her and just focus on the skills.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00My goodness.
SPEAKER_02No, no, no. I I I'm not sure if you're not annoying.
SPEAKER_00But listen, if I thought I can do a sex tape and get money, I would. I'm like, come on, sign me up. I I am so desperate right now. I might get paid to not show it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. I mean, no, not agreeing with, but like I understand the sense. Now what you mean. Yeah. She knows the hard match. I know how you mean it. All right. Well, you know what? On that note, I think we need to go home.
SPEAKER_00Go home. Go home, Agnes. You're drunk. Actually, honestly, I'm not. No hangover, no nothing.
SPEAKER_02I don't think I am either.
SPEAKER_00I did a really good job drinking and not getting hungover. I am a professional. Okay. I practice every week. So there's that. This is what I was training for.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02Sassenships.com. Don't drink and drive. Drink responsibly. Until next time, I'm Lisa. And I'm Agnes. And we're out of here. See that bye?
