Hi, and welcome to today's episode of Assassin's Tips. Today we will be talking about the show Reunion, Season 1, Episode, I don't know, 1991. Episode six. Oh, okay, thank you. I'm like, yes, 1991. I am Lisa, and I am still sipping on the white wine because I still can't find a new bottle. So that box short came in handy. I think there's like one more bottle after this, and then it's really time for me to go find a corkscrew.
SPEAKER_01Did you get the the picture I sent you about wine tasting? Yes. So the five S of wine tasting. On the next episode of Sassin Sips. Wine tasting with Lisa.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, let me go find that okay. Oh, she's looking for it. Yes. See, swirl, smell, sip, savor. Okay, I see it. It looked like a wine. Swirl. Oh, you know, what's that from? Eleven collet? It looked like a man. It looked like a wine. Okay. Swirl. Ooh. Smell. Smells like.
SPEAKER_01Well, I mean, you're a little bit too you're going a little bit too hard in all the sipping, swirling.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_03Aren't you supposed to slurp it?
SPEAKER_01Stop the S. That's sick. That's savor, also known as slurping. So I don't know.
SPEAKER_03White wine always tastes tastes apple y to me.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes. So wait, okay, so when you see and you're looking for like the clarity and how clear it is, and when you put it on the table to swirl it a little bit, you're aerating it.
SPEAKER_03Don't you also gotta see like the legs?
SPEAKER_01That too.
SPEAKER_03I don't know how to tell, but okay.
SPEAKER_01And then like the sip, you just like let it t just tickle your tip of your tongue as you're sipping. That's what your husband does, Lisa.
SPEAKER_02If you guys can see this.
SPEAKER_03I got a long tongue too. Missed opportunity.
SPEAKER_01Slurp. It's like it's like um, listen, wait, I'm doing my coffee. It's like down my tits.
SPEAKER_03Down, it's down and shit.
SPEAKER_01You know, I'm like, I share all my I share my food with my tits, might also my drinks too. Yeah. Anyone with big tits knows. Welcome to this episode of Sassin Sips.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Once again, you didn't introduce yourself.
SPEAKER_02I don't because we got sidetracked with the white tasting.
SPEAKER_01I thought that was more important. Everyone knows who I am. And I'm Agnes, and I am sipping on my coffee with Kahlua today. It's not Kahlua with coffee, it's coffee with Kahlua today. It's just uh it's uh it's been a week, and we don't want to go down a rabbit hole, so I'm trying to keep the alcohol at bay.
SPEAKER_03It it has been a week for sure.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Unlike most people, I only drink when I'm happy. When I'm going through shit, I try not to drink because I'm like, okay, that's when things can go downhill.
SPEAKER_03So no alcohol, but yeah, I didn't I didn't drink a lot this week. Same, same kind of reason. Because yeah, it just it just makes everything worse.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_03But yeah, so reunion 1991. Do you have hot takes?
SPEAKER_01Um, one, I have a couple. The first one was Lisa was right about how the gun. Oh, I was right, wasn't I? Yes, you forgot you said that, didn't you? I yeah a little bit, yeah. So you were right about that, and it was made sense.
SPEAKER_03I didn't say this last week, but with the whole detective and Jenna relationship thing, I'm like, okay, I hope you stretch because a little bit of a reach, but um You mean because I know last week I it seemed like there was some familiarity. Yeah, so I was looking for it this week.
SPEAKER_01I just think um who knows? I think just Jenna gives off that vibe to begin with. Well with everyone.
SPEAKER_03My hot takes Carla surprised me.
SPEAKER_01Totally.
SPEAKER_03She surprised me.
SPEAKER_01She did, but looking back, I'm like, I shouldn't have been surprised.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And I was looking for that familiarity between Jenna and the detective. It in some moments it felt like it was there, and in some moments it felt like it wasn't. It's it's kind of one of those things where if you read a transcript of their interaction, there's no familiarity. But the way they speak to each other, it's almost like there is um a history. A history, but what's what's the like uh not attitude? That's not the word I'm looking for. Like two people who have had a relationship and it didn't end well, like that animosity. That's the word. I like think it feels like there's animosity between them.
SPEAKER_01I think it lends to he is he has animosity towards the entire group, especially well. Then Jenna, and she's not antagonistic, but she's also no fucks given to begin with. And I think that's what we're seeing. Two very similar personalities going head to head, like who has the bigger balls.
SPEAKER_03Well, and then there was a scene where, so we're watching it on YouTube, so there's no captions.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03I and I forgot to, but I'm gonna check it now. Um, where it sounded like she called him Ken. But I'm like, I don't even know if that's his name.
SPEAKER_00She might.
SPEAKER_01Maybe she said a word that I didn't recognize, but yeah, so um I wouldn't put that past her though, either, just being flippant towards authority. Yeah. His first name is Kenneth. So I really don't see that. I don't I think that can go both ways. That can be like there's some kind of shared history going between them.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I don't think it necessarily has to be because they were in a relationship.
SPEAKER_01It could be he investigated something around her or Oh, maybe they have a previous, a previous relationship of some sort, connection, some sort.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_01Just okay.
SPEAKER_03Just a relationship meaning that they knew each other before Sam's murder was being investigated.
SPEAKER_01I think so, flip side, taking Jenna's personality into account, there's also the same person as a teenager came onto a high school English teacher. She has, whether it's for either whether it's a facade at the moment or not, she has brass balls. And I can see her just being flippant and like, my balls are bigger than yours. I cannot give a fuck more than you can give a fuck.
SPEAKER_03Um well, and we saw that same attitude at the end of the episode. At the end, right. So yeah, you're you could be spot on with that.
SPEAKER_01But I can't wait to see let me rephrase that. I hope by the end of episode 13 we see which one it was.
SPEAKER_03Before we get into the meat of this episode, how did you how did you feel with this episode being that there was no quote reveal at the end? So, like in in all the other episodes, it was like we're gonna find out who was alive. You know, like one more to add to the alive list. In this episode, there was no need for that.
SPEAKER_01So they made up for the lack of reveal by bringing home the whatever caused Craig and Janet to be on the outs, or him to be on the house. They brought that home. Like they made it, he alluded to it like two episodes ago.
SPEAKER_03Well, I think it was was it no, it was the last one. Was it just the last one?
SPEAKER_01It was the last because really we're on the best of terms, right?
SPEAKER_03So, but this was really just they were we were we were seeing Sam talk on the camera, and he said, Oh, it's we're not on the best of terms. So you were thinking that it was her because yeah.
SPEAKER_01So they made up for the lack of the reveal by bringing that point home. And I think it was a segue to the next week's episode, like, okay, you're gonna now you're gonna like you had a.
SPEAKER_03I hope we're gonna find out, yeah.
SPEAKER_01They better. They had two episodes. We kind of had two episodes, if you think about it, for us to think about it. Like, wait, what? Um, I so I think going forward, since there's no more reveals, we're going to start. Now that we like countdown to who's the murdered one, now we're gonna do countdown at who actually committed the murder. And I think that's where this is going to start. I think Oh, oh, go ahead. I had a random idea, thought. What if the detective killed Samantha so he could frame Will or one of the the group? Ooh. Talking about outlandish thoughts.
SPEAKER_03You know, not detective did it. You know, not that impossible, right? Because he's like, You took my daddy away, so I'd take the girl that you've loved for all these years away.
SPEAKER_01Something. And put you in jail for it. And obviously, this has been an ongoing issue with him for 20 years. So he had a lot of time to plan something. Who's bad to commit the perfect murder but an office, but a cop? I didn't talk to that.
SPEAKER_03I know. All I was gonna say is that in the last episode, when Craig says, Oh, you know, we're not on the best of terms, at the time he says it, it kind of alludes to it being Sam. But we then we really find out that it's Jenna. So you're like, okay, well, who knows what that could be referring to. And you don't really think about the comment too much after you realize that it's Sam who's dead, and it was Jenna who was giving the statement in question. But then this episode, it it definitely leaves you on a little bit more of a good cliffhanger, and it also gives us the seed, it plants a seed about what did Craig do to make Jenna and him not on the terms? So it gives us the seed of what he maybe did.
SPEAKER_01We don't know if whatever it is, it was bad because she hates him. Yeah. I honestly believe although I'm sorry. No, no, go ahead. I honestly believe that although her entire statement to the detective was planned, not planned, or you know, it was contrived. I honestly believe when she said, if Craig did it, I would definitely tell you. I honestly believe she meant that to her bones. And I need to know what the fuck did he do? And does it have to do with him? Does it have a connection to him in the wheelchair?
SPEAKER_03I don't I know. I know. But she seemed very uh oh my god, I just had an idea. You see a little light popping in my head? I I know, it got brighter on your screen.
SPEAKER_01Um, you know how the secretary comes on to Craig towards the end of the episode? What if the reason she hates him so much is that he ends up having like a long-term affair with the secretary and ruins the marriage between him and Sam, and that's her you know, that's her friend. And he has a hold of the family somewhere else. Not just an affair, but like the whole secondary family. Wow, I'm big with the conspiracy theories today. Where's my red string? Anyone, somebody?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay. By the way, I'm still waiting for somebody to send me red string and abortion. She seemed she seemed very on edge when she came back to the loft at the end of the episode. And so I know I know we haven't even started talking about the beginning, but but um I I kind of got the feeling that she was very distant from all of them. But then she hugs Carla. So it was like, oh, I I'm not actually sure. Like the whole episode, you feel like Jenna is just kind of like holding them all at arm's length. Like, well, I'm just gonna do this because out of loyalty for the friendship, but I really don't care, but whatever kind of thing. And then, but at the end of the episode, when she is with them, she hugs Carla, and it seemed genuine, so it's like, well, now I don't know how to feel about Jenna.
SPEAKER_01I think that was an act for the detective, so he can believe her. Like, I'm just here.
SPEAKER_03I didn't think so because remember, in the last episode, Craig was like, Oh, she's gonna tell him everything. Well, Craig was worried, Craig and Carla were worried.
SPEAKER_01Maybe it's a little bit of both.
SPEAKER_03And so then when she comes into the scene with them at the end of the episode and is still kind of detached from them, it made sense from what we knew before about Craig. So I'm really a little like curious about Jenna. She is the wild card, she definitely is.
SPEAKER_01I think they're under, I think there's something that kept them like separate them as a group with Jenna, and she's just like, but I also think they underestimated her loyalty. Oh, that's a good point. Yeah. There's always that person, like, no matter what, I know they're always gonna have my back, whether they're mad at me or not, I know they have my back. And then there's some, and then some people are just shady. And I think they just underestimated her. They weren't sure.
SPEAKER_03That could definitely be.
SPEAKER_01But Carla, I think Carla knew that she can trust Jenna because she went to like she walked towards her. She know they kind of came together. So she might have been like, I don't know, but this is still my this is still the Jenna that we know and love in her own little way. With her cigarette in her hand. So on Carla-ish. I love that though.
SPEAKER_03When when we left off in the last episode, basically we left off on Carla locking herself in a room because she was afraid of Paul.
SPEAKER_00Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_03And, you know, he was, and she she finds out that he was abusive, and she finds out the hard way. So when when this episode opens, it's like, okay, it's been a year. What the fuck? Then the episode opens and it's present day. Detective M is setting up the camera to record Jenna's interview. And he's like, Oh, you know, you guys were really tight. And she's like, Yeah, we're tight like a like a noose around your neck. And I was like, Well, okay. So it's hostile. We're getting that vibe.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03And then basically, when we open up in 1991, we open on Carla and Paul, who are bringing Amy to her first day of school. And it's like, look at the happy little family. And you're like, what the fuck, Carla? What the fuck? Girl, honey. Oh. You know, like you just like, oh, Carla. Um, and so Carla's giving Amy a pep talk. She's like, look, they all look so nice, and it's gonna be great. And you know what we all tell our kids on the first day of school, because really we're telling ourselves, like, it's gonna be okay. Amy walks in and Carla then goes after her, and she's like, I I thought I could do it. I thought I could do it. And Paul is just like, no, it's okay. Like, hee hee hee he, like, aw.
SPEAKER_01And um I mean, now we know, but yeah, but it was cute though.
SPEAKER_03Uh so then after family. Cute is very much in quotation.
SPEAKER_01Very much so.
SPEAKER_03Carla ends up then going to visit Sam, who now by now has a newborn, Henry. She's living in the loft. Craig is still working in Bedford, and she's attending medical school. The timer goes off for the for Henry's bottle to be ready. So Carla goes and tests it on her wrist, and Sam notices that her arm is bruised up. And she, you know, asks her, and she's like, Oh, you know, I flew over the handlebars of a bike. No big deal. I told my doctor, my doctor said it's fine, and you've already given too many details. So she knows you're lying. Um, and then she's like, oh yeah, and also I gotta go now. Bye.
SPEAKER_01So you know how you just said, no, you're giving away to me details, you know you're lying, which is usually the truth. Too much details. Does that mean when you and I tell one another a story, we're lying? Because all we do is give details.
SPEAKER_03That's because we don't know how to tell stories.
SPEAKER_01We don't. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Right. That was just me being.
SPEAKER_03Also, we don't really need to lie to each other. So there's that.
SPEAKER_01I mean, only lie I would tell. Only lie I would tell, like, yeah, so I was a bad girl, and you're like, all right, really?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what'd you do? I want to hear this even more now.
SPEAKER_01Right. I'm like, actually, no, I just ate two donuts still one.
SPEAKER_03That's the right, right. I was a bad girl. How many gummies did you eat, Lisa? Right. That's did you order another box of wine? That's the extent of it.
SPEAKER_02That's that story is gonna go down in history because I not that you just ordered it. You did it. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, this is what happens when you're not in the right frame of mind at three o'clock in the morning and you're on the episode.
SPEAKER_01Like, wait, what?
SPEAKER_03What did I wait? What? Thank you for your purchase. What the fuck did I buy? Oh, actually, I I I still knew a good deal when I saw it. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, that was just the best. 60 years from now, I'm like, so one day your great-great-great-grandmother bought a box of wine. I'm telling okay.
SPEAKER_03I think the most impressive part of that story is that you're still gonna be alive to talk to my great-great-grandkids. We both would be.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_01Because technology, because they said only the good die young, so we're not going anywhere. Yeah, well. Oh. Back to 1991.
SPEAKER_03Yes. So now we go to Craig and Aaron, who are having a business meeting. They're trying to sell the internet. Yeah, and Craig is like, but what is that? He's like, Don't worry, don't worry. I got leave it to me. And they're having a business meeting, and the guys are like, actually, we're gonna change our name to America Online.
SPEAKER_01I thought that was so cute. I love it.
SPEAKER_03I know. I love a little long but catchy because I'm like AOL.
SPEAKER_01I like the way they integrate what was happening in real time. You know what I mean? Yes. They added AOL and they added all that stuff, and it was just like, and I'm like, so wait, Aaron developed a search engine. He was the original Google, and then is he might have been Jeeves. Right. He might have been Ask Jeeves. You remember that? I remember that. Oh God. Wait, did wait, did another gray hair pop out? Okay.
SPEAKER_03I think, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I think I heard that. Popped down and ran away.
SPEAKER_02My gray hair was a hangout with me.
SPEAKER_03Meanwhile, Sam arrives at Paul's apartment to confront Carla about the bruises. And she's like, Why are you here? Don't you know what would happen if he caught you? She's like, Yeah. That's why I waited till he left. And she's like, so I followed up on your story and you're a big fat liar. And Carla's like, you don't know what I've done to sacrifice. Because she's like, but if you don't do it for you, at least do it for Amy. You don't know what I've sacrificed. Well, we will know later, but if Sam is your friend, maybe you should have just. I understand why you didn't let her into your whole plan, but just maybe you could have been up front with her earlier and said, listen, I know, and I'm I've got a plan. I need you to trust me. Whatever.
SPEAKER_01Right. Because if Samantha was, she took Samantha was busy with the newborn and med school and marriage and That's a lot. And it's a lot. And I think if she would have noticed it sooner, you would have had to tell her, you would have told her sooner. Like you're gonna have like your friends are going to know what's going on in your life. Right. So I I guess she took advantage of the fact that no one noticed and she was able to keep this plan. And I get that. Because less people that know, the less chance of it going wrong. I get that.
SPEAKER_03Because she tells she tells Sam to stay out of it for your own good. And when we get to the end of the episode, we understand more the meaning behind the statement. But at the same time, you didn't have to let Sam into everything for you to just still be kind of honest with her. But all right, whatever. We go to Jenna, who's living in this fancy LA home with the pool in her living room. She's like, you know, beaches and pools. She's there with the guy, and then Will shows up and he's like, hey, I was in the neighborhood because I had to deliver a letter. But we'll get more to that later. Back in Bedford, Aaron gets a visit from one of the America Online bigwigs, and Craig is not there. Craig is out getting lunch, and Aaron is like, he doesn't know what to do with himself. He is like, Craig, Craig is the guy. Like, I need Craig. He tells like the little flirty receptionist, the office assistant, whatever. He's like, what? Angel. Oh. He's like, oh, well, what what line are they on? And they're like, uh, no. She's like, he's here. He's like in person. And the guy's like, listen, we we want to do business with you. And so Aaron is so excited because, you know, they they need this. They need this in order to be successful. But the guy's like, but actually, there's like one little hitch.
SPEAKER_01And we all know what that hitch was before you even yeah, we all knew before they even said it.
SPEAKER_03Meanwhile, back in the city, Carla and Paul are at the school because it's the end of the day. Paul is like, you know, I can't do this every day. And Carla's like, no, no, no, but it's important for us to both be here because it it sends the message. And it's so funny because traditionally on the first day of school, not so much here because they got on a bus, but when we lived in New York and we walked them to school, it was always we always tried to make it a habit for us to both be there on the first day so that the teachers could see both of us and know who we both are. But um, so they're so they both show up to pick her up from school, except how big is this fucking school? Because like 10 kids came out, one teacher, and they're already locking up behind them. And the the kids, all these little five-year-olds are just running around like ants. Like, I even in 1991, I don't know if that's how five-year-olds worked. Like, go ahead. I mean, to be fair, it's TV. I know it's TV. But the point is that then 10 kids run out and they're like, Where's Amy? Where's Amy? They go to a teacher and she's like, Oh, that's not my class. What the fuck? And and then she's like, but all the kids are out. Not even like, let's go into the office, let's look at the log, let's get the principal, and then they're all like, Amy, Amy, she's five. She's five. This is I I'm like, what the fuck is going on here? Because immediately, I'm sorry, but if it was me, immediately I'd be like, you need to get the principal out here right now. We need to call the cops. We need to you know what I mean? Like, we need to hustle.
SPEAKER_01It's a one-hour TV show, so they have to like streamline it with it, you know, gets to the media. It's a TV show. We saw it.
SPEAKER_03No, no, I oh my god, it's a TV show one more fucking time. But I know that. But it's still supposed to be realistic. Re realistic, right? Because it if not, we'd be watching a soap opera. Like soap operas can do that shit where it's like completely unrealistic, you know, where they can transplant brains and have Dr. Drake Remore. But yeah, panic, okay, yelling, yeah, but like where did you think she went? You were right there when the kids came out, she didn't come out. I don't know. Anyway, this is dumb. It was just so dumb. So fast forward to at some point they called the cops, the detective comes out and talks to them, and they're like, Well, you know, blah blah blah, blah, blah, blah. Last year, you know, because they're like, you know, she wanders off. And last year, Megan. And you're like, ooh, Megan, okay. So the detective is like, okay, you know, have you had any contact? And Carla's like, no. And then Paul mentions Sam. He's like, you know, I don't know if this is important, but she's adopted and the birth mother did come around here a few years ago looking for her. Let me get the birth certificate because her name is on it. The detective father.
SPEAKER_01Carla did not expect that, did she?
SPEAKER_03No, no. And she should have, because it's not a far leap. I mean, if your kid is missing, I'm if my kid goes missing, I'm investing everyone, even my family.
SPEAKER_01Like, I remember the mailman from 2000. Hell fucking yeah. That looked kind of weird that we don't live in the same state anymore, but he's a suspect. No, I get it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, investigate my husband if you have to. Like, we are investigating everyone because I need to find my kid. And he's like, Well, what's your alibi? She's like, Well, I've been here all day with the newborn, and if you want to wait a year when he starts talking, he can tell you.
SPEAKER_02That was funny, though. That was funny.
SPEAKER_03And he's like, Well, what about your husband? She's like, Well, he doesn't work in the city. Okay, well, we're gonna need his number. She's like, but he doesn't know any of this. Well, then either you need to tell him fast, or I am. So now Sam has to come clean. And she kind of does. And present day, it's funny because Jenna's at the police station and there's just a crowd because she's a celebrity. And the detective is like, you know, we don't get many celebrities around here. And one of the other officers, the same guy that we've seen in previous episodes, is like, you know, she did that movie where she was an expert with the guns. Maybe she knows something about this one. And he hands Detective M the gun in an evidence bag. And he's like, Oh, yeah, some kids found it on the on some rocks in the East River. No, they did not. No, no one is playing in the East River. I promise you. No one is playing in the East River.
SPEAKER_01Only people play the East River are hiding something themselves.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_03And then they they show the clip of her throwing it in. How could the gun have floated up onto some rocks? That shit was. I don't want to know what is in the East River. And I hope to God I never have to find out.
SPEAKER_01But that was, yeah, you couldn't tell.
SPEAKER_03I mean, mm-hmm That was the most unrealistic part of this whole episode.
SPEAKER_01That bothered me than that bothered me more than the whole school thing.
SPEAKER_03I know. Yes. Nobody no, nobody went into the East River with that gun.
SPEAKER_01If it happened to be like it turned up on the shores of the Long Island Sound, maybe with currents, I can believe that.
SPEAKER_03Or if they said cops went and looked in the river, I believe that. But it does Joe it does Joe Blow on the street, he was not playing in the East River.
SPEAKER_01But it doesn't went, it wouldn't end up on the rocks.
SPEAKER_03No, no, and and nobody's going in that river for fun.
SPEAKER_01A body would like maybe get snagged on something and drip. Yeah, but a gun. Never mind. Yeah, that bothered me the most. Agnes, it's a TV show, okay? I know. I was waiting for that. I was legit waiting for you to say that. I was, I was kind of want you to say that actually.
SPEAKER_03In New York, if you're not familiar, on one side of Manhattan, like the side that kind of goes towards the Jersey side, that's the Hudson River. And the East River is on the other side that is in between Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. So it's it's just kind of like a runoff of the Hudson. I mean, whatever. And you know, it flows into the rest of the waterways in the Atlantic. And listen, I'm not gonna act like I never swam at the beach in Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Coney Island, Rockaway. But let's all remember that they all still touch the Gowanas Canal, which is where syphilis lives. I'm not even joking. The Gowanas Canal is a super fun site. It's disgusting. No one is playing in these bodies of water. The yuppies have moved in and they kayak and shit on there, and I'm like, oh, oh, I don't even want to walk near that water for I'm gonna look like the fish from The Simpsons, but if you're from New York, you are not playing in these bodies of water. Like Coney Island, Rockaway, Brighton, Manhattan, what at Bergen, fine.
SPEAKER_01We do it because we There's an ocean to wash it.
SPEAKER_03And it's yeah, it's on the other side, kind of, but like just the East River. No, it gross. Okay. No. So Will borrows Jenna's car. He goes to Victorsville, which I'm not sure why we keep like we see the sign for Victorsville, and then we see like him say he's going to Victorsville. So I'm not sure if that's going to be somehow important. But he he has a letter that he wants to deliver to his friend Sanchez's sister because uh his his friend, the guy that we see in the last episode who was writing the letters, he didn't make it, and Will feels guilty because he gave him the assignment that ultimately got him killed. But when he gets to her house, her name is Vanessa. When he gets to her house, she's like, Oh, let me guess you're from the army. Yeah, I don't want to I don't want to talk to you. I don't want to talk about my brother. Like, thanks for nothing. Bye. In Bedford, Aaron has to tell Craig that he took the job with AOL. He's like, oh, they want to hire us.
SPEAKER_00And he's like, well, not quite.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So Craig is not happy about that. At Paul's apartment, Carla goes to use the phone. Paul sees her and kind of gets like tw he kind of just twists her arm until she's like cries, uncle, and he's like, Who are you gonna call? What are you gonna do? And she's like, the kid is missing. I'm trying to call anybody that I can think of to find her. I hope you're not lying to me. I not, I promise. By now, Craig gets home and Sam confesses almost everything. She t Craig comes in and he's like, Daddy's home. And he's like, I had the worst day. And could you could you believe what Aaron did? Mind you, Sam is just there, like, oh fuck. Fuck. And then he looks at her and he's like, What happened? So now he just had the worst day where he where his friend who he started this business with is like, Yeah, I'm leaving you for greener pastures. And now his wife has to tell him that she had a baby by another guy and gave it off for adoption. But Carla's secretly watching over the kid. And by the way, the kid is now missing and the detectives are snipping around here. Okay.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that's that's and she also told him during this monologue that Paul was abusing abusive towards Carla.
SPEAKER_03So it starts at the beginning. So she tells him, listen, Carla is being abused, but the reason Carla had the job is because of me, because I had a kid when I was in London and we were broken up. And she's like, remember, I love you.
SPEAKER_02That's something I do.
SPEAKER_03Like, I love you. But I love you. Remember, I love you. You know, and it's like, but by the way, but we were broken up, and the uh who's the father? It doesn't matter. I I beg to differ, Sam. I think who's the father is really gonna matter, but it does, but at this point it doesn't.
SPEAKER_01Big picture. I'm glad she kept, you know, she kept focused.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So Craig is obviously very hurt. He's he leaves. He he just leaves. Meanwhile in Bedford, the flirty office assistant is telling Aaron about, you know, sometimes you have to choose between the job and your friendship, and she just kind of talks some sense into his head. In California, Will stalks Vanessa. I mean, how does he find out where she works in a matter of hours?
SPEAKER_01I mean, that also bothered the fuck out of me. And she's just like, oh, so stuck, you show up at my place of business, but there are kids.
SPEAKER_03Which is a preschool in a classroom full of kids, and he just walks right in. My god, my god.
SPEAKER_01Now, mind you, granted, times have changed, but I still remember when we were in school at that age, you still had there was a security guard, even in Cow Gardens, there was a security guard. You had to sign in and go to the print and go to the office.
SPEAKER_03And you weren't just like left to roam. You know, you were escorted always. Okay, so now it was the kids that came to get you, but you were escorted.
SPEAKER_01Now I'm saying this for both of our benefits. I gotta remind me, it's the TV show, Agnes. Let it go. Agnes, let it go. It's a TV show, but it bothered the fuck out of me. He just walks into the classroom.
SPEAKER_03Right. She's like, so you're stalking me? He's like, it's called recon. But she said it coily.
SPEAKER_01But she said it.
SPEAKER_03No, I know. You could call it a couple of things.
SPEAKER_01But then it bothered me too. But that but this is not okay. We would have had problems. Same. There would have been problems. In fact, she was like, oh, so this is stuck in. I'm like, oh, okay, but it's a TV show, Agnes. Let it go. Yeah. To be fair, I just had this conversation. Not just, but I used to always have this conversation with my mom.
SPEAKER_02And then she was like, it's a TV show, live it, let it go. I'm like, okay, fine.
SPEAKER_03That's the easy way. I'm not giving up so easy. Mona's not here to hurt me, so.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm still afraid of her spirit.
SPEAKER_03I could use her these days. Well, come right, shotgun, please. Let's go take some people out. Um. So he gives her the letter and he's like, listen, I just, you know, I I I promise him, you know. And so she's like, so this is your last mission? And he's like, Yeah. At this at the same time, back in New York City, Sam goes to meet Carla in the park, and Carla spells out the scheme. Carla had a plan all along, apparently. She says that after last year, Paul basically never let Carla out of her sight for more than a couple of hours out of time. So she had to wait for the right time to put her plan into action. And that plan was put into action today. First day of school.
SPEAKER_01Amy's first day of school.
SPEAKER_03She so it looks like when Amy went back in because she just couldn't let her go in that easily, she ended up taking her back out.
SPEAKER_01Because she knew Paul had to go back to work.
SPEAKER_03Right. And Megan was there, sure enough, waiting. And Carla gave Amy to Megan so that they can both get away and and live somewhere else safely away from Paul. Carla learned the biggest lesson of them all is keep your fucking mouth shut. Because now she's got that down pat. Because now she didn't even want to tell Sam.
SPEAKER_01And which I To be fair, I get why she didn't tell anyone, because she maybe learned her lesson.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. Because and then Sam is like, oh, because you know, but she left Amy behind.
SPEAKER_01She didn't tell her why she did.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Carla, you missed uh a little part of that story because she was like, Yeah, well, she tried, and then Paul stopped it. Yeah, because you went and snitched, bitch. You are the problem. You were well, you were the problem.
SPEAKER_01To be fair, she didn't know she was the problem. She didn't know. Because looking on the outside in, you look like this woman's going crazy. Yeah. She looked unwell and unbalanced. So and she was what, 19 at the time?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_01So we can't. To be fair, she didn't know she was, she ruined a a saving mission.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're like, you don't give a fuck. You're like, I don't care.
SPEAKER_03While Sam and Carla were at the park talking, of course, Paul was watching. When does this man find time to work?
SPEAKER_01I feel like Carla should have known he was watching. And I kind of I don't want I wonder if she knew it was possible she was being followed. Like in the back of her head?
SPEAKER_03I don't know. But there's a different park to go to.
SPEAKER_01But if he's following her, it doesn't make a difference. I feel like in the back of her head, she must have known that he was going to follow her. You probably followed her.
SPEAKER_03Well, but when she walks out of the apartment, I mean she walked out like looking behind her. She got in the elevator. So I don't necessarily know if she was followed or if he just went to places where she might go.
SPEAKER_01This is also this so this is another plot hole that they missed in the writing then.
SPEAKER_03Say more.
SPEAKER_01Meaning if she if we actually follow her, why didn't she see him? If she was being careful too. If she knows that he's crazy, why would they go to a different why did they just go a different place? I feel like it's a it's a something that they missed in the writing. They didn't connect all the dots. But I wonder in her head, does she think that the possibility was there anyway? Because I feel like she probably have, I feel like she had a plan. Even without the gun, I think she has something in the works. That's just me being, you know.
SPEAKER_03Right, because Sam is like, okay, but so Sam is like, wow, I can't believe that you went through all of that. Because Carla said she didn't want to leave because you know she she wanted to make sure that Amy was taken care of. She she needed to put her plan into place. And Sam is like, wow, you're amazing. All this time you've just really been taking care of all of us, and but now do you have to go back there? And she's like, Well, I don't plan to stay, but yes, I I have to stay at least until it's over. I get that. I mean I get it and I don't get it, right? You technically don't have to stay now, but if you leave right away, it's gonna kind of look even worse. At least for Paul. And the detective are still on the case, so like yeah, you you kind of have to see it finished. Craig returns to the apartment. Sam apologizes. Funny, she didn't apologize like with a kiss like she did last time or the time before that. So I guess she only apologizes to Will with kisses. And um Craig is very understanding and she's like, he's like, listen, I took a drive. I I didn't want to do something that I was gonna regret. And he's like, but Carla's gonna be okay. And when he said that, I was like, oh, I know what he did. I know what he did. And speaking of Carla, Paul returns home to start some shit. And Carla is like, oh no, not today, motherfucker. Not today. She pulls, because she's like, he's like, I've been looking for you everywhere. She's like, but I've been right here. No, you have not. And she's like, oh yeah. Go ahead, motherfucker, make my day.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so one part that I was really proud of is the way they had her hold the gun. And they had it hold it correctly. I mean, granted, most people who's never held a gun wouldn't hold it with one hand, but that's that. But you know, she was away from the trigger guard, and she I was proud of the placement of her fingers doing that.
SPEAKER_03So once she pulls a gun on him, she makes him call the detective. Because he's like, Oh, I saw you. I saw you with Sam, and how long have you known her? And and was this the only reason you took it? So now his wheels are spinning. She makes him call the detective and say, Amy came home. Everything's okay, everything's fine. You're fine, I'm fine, we're all fine, everything is fine. The dumpster's on fire, but it's cool, it's cool, don't worry. So there's so many more things wrong with this. But he's like, Yeah, it turns out she just wandered home. She she wandered off looking for home, had the wrong apartment building. Uh what?
SPEAKER_01So many plot, like it's Yeah. It's not even worth going into.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so sorry to make you worry, but everything is good now. Now, if I was that detective, I'd be like, that's that's great news. I will be right there to verify and to close out this case. Since when did detectives take people's word for shit?
SPEAKER_01None of it made sense.
SPEAKER_03None of it.
SPEAKER_01From a d so wait, she ended up in the wrong apartment building and no one called the cops, but somehow they brought they found out where you live and brought her. Like it didn't make sense from a cop's point of view.
SPEAKER_03It doesn't make sense from anybody's point of view. Not even the five-year-old was like, that's yeah. Stella was like, that's bullshit.
SPEAKER_01Okay, Agnes is a TV show. Agnes is a TV show. Let it go, Agnes.
SPEAKER_03Uh I'm sorry, but shows but by the year 2006, if you're putting television out, like you could do better. Like, my god, make it seem somewhat reasonable. But Amy's like, and um, sorry, Carl is like, now apologize to the detective for you know wasting his time and he does, and he hangs, she's like, make it believable. And then he hangs up the phone and she's like, and now apologize to me. That was the worst apology ever. There wasn't even a kiss.
SPEAKER_01I don't think she wanted a kiss. No, no, no, I know.
SPEAKER_03I'm just making fun because like I guess Sam, uh once again, Sam only apologizes to Will with kisses.
SPEAKER_01So we expect kisses, okay. But the look on his face Oh, he was big mad. And I think I she I think I guess that and for this particular writing proved her point, she made that own kind of badassness by making him apologize for kicker.
SPEAKER_03Right. And then she because she's packing up and stuff. So she keeps the gun pointed on him, she grabs her shit and she's like, goodbye, and she leaves. We go to present day, Jenna is telling Detective M. This is when she calls him Ken.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03She's telling him about Paul, and she's like, because she's like, yeah, I don't think Crane did it. If Crane did it, I would tell you. But if you want to look into someone, you should look into Paul. And the detective is like, okay, so I forgot exactly how he asks her, but he's like, so like when when was the next time you saw Paul or whatever? And she was like, I've never actually seen him ever. She's like, but I had nothing to do with any of that. She's like, but he might be the kind of guy who holds a grudge. Back in 1991, Craig is somehow now back in Bedford. Like, oh my god. It it's like the worst tennis match ever. It's like City, Bedford, City, Bedford, City, Bedford. Have you people ever heard of traffic in Manhattan? How do you get to these places so fast? And he mentioned, he's like, I drove. It would have taken you three hours, but okay. Like Aaron ends up telling Craig that he's not leaving. And Craig ends up telling the flirty assistant, you know, I don't know what you said to him, but thank you. And that I think he wants to ask you out, but you know, he's shy. And she's like, Well, you know, he's not really my type. I usually go for guys more like um you. And he points to his wedding ring and he's like, sorry. Like it was so like ew. But like in an endearing way, almost, you know, because he's like a kitty, but he's like, no, like I'm married. And she's like, Yeah, what a shame. She does not think it is, but okay.
SPEAKER_01She doesn't give a fuck.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Will shows back up at Vanessa's house. It's evening by now. And oh, because when they were in the daycare, she was like, This is not the time and the place to talk. He was like, Right, so can we do dinner?
SPEAKER_01So he has talked to her this time.
SPEAKER_03Right. She knew he was showing back up. So he arrives. The I guess the plan is for them to go to dinner and talk about what was in the letter, but she read the letter and her brother talks very highly of Will and says that, you know, he's probably there. You should lean on him. Because, like, that's my dude, you know. So she says, Can we skip dinner? I'd just rather be alone. And Will is like, okay, bye. And she's like, No, I meant with you. Hey now.
SPEAKER_01This to me gave me beginning of his ministry vibes. Like, he just sat there with her. And I feel like, and since that this is like the beginning, whether he do it or not, kind of like just sitting there being a presence.
SPEAKER_03I did notice though that he he decided not to take tell her. And I know that it wasn't on purpose, right?
SPEAKER_01Because the So what happened was he really didn't he tell her that would have done excuse me, would have done nothing. That was his own survivor's guilt.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So telling her it wouldn't have done nothing for her. And I think I'm glad he realized that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So he he says that when when they were overseas, it was his job to make out the daily tasks for the unit. And they one of one of the tasks was to like, I get what did he say, fill up the gas or something for the vehicles. And he's like, usually I did it. He goes, but that day I was so tired I pulled rank and I assigned him to do it, and he ran over um uh a mine or something. So obviously it wasn't something that he deliberately did, but he felt guilty because he was a survivor. But he decided not to tell her. And yeah, they just sat like outside on the bench and he had his arm around her, and it was a sweet little scene. I wonder if there's gonna be more to that little story. Jenna is on the phone with Carla, and it turns out Amy and Megan are at Jenna's house in LA, and Jenna is planning to put them on a private plane, no manifest, get them out of the country. And she's like, no, no, no, and no no but nobody knows they're here, don't worry, except that that actor guy is in the house. So I feel like that may be a con uh I feel uh has Benadryl wiped all the cells from my brain?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I yeah, probably.
SPEAKER_03What's the word? I really wanted to finish that thought.
SPEAKER_01Oh, you feel like that's going to be like a problem. Yes. Yeah. That guy was there.
SPEAKER_03That might be a problem.
SPEAKER_01I like to think, um, okay, so getting them to the house, getting them to Jenna was not a last-minute thing. It was part of the plan. And I feel like I think he's fine. Because at this, remember in the morning, he was worried about my keys, and she's like, why don't you just hire a driver? He goes, I don't spend my money. I don't spend money on myself. I don't use my money for my own things unless somebody's doing something for you. And I feel like that had something to do with getting, now you get to the end. I think he was in on getting them there. I don't think he's a negative. I don't think it's I think this part is safe. I think this part of their story is, okay, let's move on to the next part.
SPEAKER_03I just think that's poor planning because if you and I were doing something like that, I mean, granted, I'm married to Alex, so there's it's a different level of familiarity, but if I was just seeing someone, I would not tell them anything. You know, the less people you involve, the better, right? Goes back to keep your mouth shut. Shut the fuck up. That's all you gotta do.
unknownBut okay.
SPEAKER_03So I I hope that it doesn't pr present a problem.
SPEAKER_01But I don't think it will, because let's be real. Jenna is, you know, she has her thing. I don't think she's private playing no manifest up there yet. So she obviously needs to get someone to help her.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you know what? That's a good point. Because when Will comes in, the guy was like, Oh, yeah, I've heard about you. Because she was like, Oh, this is Will. He's one of my oldest friends. And he was like, Yeah, I heard about you. When I come back, we'll we'll, you know, he's like, I gotta run now, but he says, We'll have we'll have, we'll throw back a few. And um, Will is like, oh, you're like this big movie star, and she's like, No, not yet. So I'm not sure.
SPEAKER_01But that's why in my heart of hearts, I I don't know how long they're gonna they one on a TV it like entertainment point, they can't drive that part out too long.
SPEAKER_03What part?
SPEAKER_01With the Megan, Amy Paul for 1991.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01I think we've reached, I'm like, okay. Next.
SPEAKER_03Well, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01So no, right? I'm probably wrong. I can't wait to find out if I'm wrong or not. Alright, to watch next episode.
SPEAKER_03Jenna is pretty much in present day Jenna is pretty much done giving her statement. And the other cop says something like, Oh, do you, you know, the the guy is living in Jersey now. Do you want to go take a road trip? Do you believe what she said? And Detective M is like, well, I never really thought she was that good of an actress. Whatever. But Jenna goes back to the loft, the other four surviving friends are there, and then that's when she's like, Are you happy? I threw him off the scent, all for one and one for all, and all that. And Carla's like, Thank you, and she hugs her, and Craig is like, Thank you, and she's like, Yeah, I'm I'm I'm still never gonna forgive you or whatever. And then that's pretty much where the episode ends. Carla did not have the locket in this episode. And I tried to look in the morning, the morning, when she brought Amy to school, but the scenes with Carla were very quick and didn't look like she's she had it on. Because I was looking to see if she had it on pre-Amy going into the school. So you think she gave it to Amy? I think she gave it to Amy. That makes sense. I mean, that was one of my first thoughts was that she gave it to Amy. Because remember, I was like.
SPEAKER_01But we said that she it, but before we realized what like the adoption, like the very first episode, we're like the locket was given to Samantha's kid before we even knew who Samantha's kid was. So we were still right. Yeah. Professional TV watchers.
SPEAKER_03I mean, I know I I amended that at some point because I thought, well, maybe in the best of terms, Paul is gonna relocate with Amy.
SPEAKER_01And so Carla Before that was before we found out he was abusive.
SPEAKER_03Right, right, right.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_03But the meat of that theory remains the same that Amy had to relocate for her well-being. And so Carla gave her the locket as a token. I don't I mean, we don't know, right? We Amy was wearing a little turtleneck.
SPEAKER_01So we have to watch next week's episode to see if the locket is still on her.
SPEAKER_03It could have been inside her shirt, she could have not had it on that day, you know, who knows? But it was not on Carla's neck.
SPEAKER_01But other scenes they make it clear to show the locket.
SPEAKER_03Yes. And in this episode, for sure, she didn't have it on after Amy went into school. But the for the brief time before Amy went into school, it was hard to tell, but I didn't I didn't notice it. And I was looking for it.
SPEAKER_01I think they would have shown it. I don't know. I feel like they did that intentionally.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I think it's completely wrong. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01They made a point to show that locket. So I think this was intentional not to show the locket, so you don't think about the locket until you know to throw us off the track. Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. So I I'm like, I'm still curious about what put Craig in the wheelchair. Now I'm curious about the Jenna Craig rift.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_03And again, we didn't see the locket, so was this the episode where it the locket moved on, or was it just not in this episode to do this to us? You know, like, oh my gosh, now we're in the locket. What is going on? Oh my god, there's a locket. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Locket watch. I like the way you I like that. I like that. That was a good one.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, it sounds a lot more exciting than it is. Next week is 1992.
SPEAKER_01Sometimes I feel like it's 1950s, but okay.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. What do you think? What do you think we're gonna?
SPEAKER_01I think they're gonna start to work on reading out who the killer is. And also, after this episode, we don't even have-ready? I don't mean like hardcore. I think like bit by bit they're gonna start chiseling out. Because they didn't start chiseling out, they haven't started that yet. So I think they're gonna start the process. And after this episode, as far as airing, the initial airing, we only have three more episodes of aired episodes to watch.
SPEAKER_03But I don't I don't think that aired episodes versus unaired episodes make a difference.
SPEAKER_01No, no, no. No, just that it's just something to like, hey, this is where everyone left off at.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_01I don't think it makes a difference in the process. I still think we're not gonna find out who killed him by episode 13, but we have three episodes left of when it was aired, and this is where people were like, what the fuck are you talking about? Like nine episodes. I want us to feel that pain that they felt for a minute.
SPEAKER_03Speaking of pain, I have a theory.
SPEAKER_01Oh Lord.
SPEAKER_03Putting together what Jenna said about she'll never forgive Craig, Craig being in a wheelchair, and now we know that Sam gave birth to a live child. Where is that kid now? That kid should be 14, 15.
SPEAKER_01We were talking about the car accident. We I we saw about maybe it was a car accident.
SPEAKER_03Yes, that's exactly where I'm going.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Maybe there maybe he was drinking or something, and yeah. And I mean, I know it's very morbid, but maybe it caused injury to the kid. Mm-hmm. And that's that's what Sam could um that's what Jenna couldn't forgive him for. And for did we see Sam walking away from the video? Like, do we know that she still has the ability to walk?
SPEAKER_01I think I I think she did walk.
SPEAKER_03She did walk.
SPEAKER_01I think she got up and left. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Alright. So yeah, we don't we don't know if the if assuming it was an accident, we don't know. But but yeah. So I don't know. I was thinking about that afterwards. I was like, well, wait a minute, that kid would not be an adult yet. That kid was born in 1991 and if it's 2006, he'd be at best 15.
SPEAKER_01Unless he's in boarding school.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, but But I don't think that's it. Yeah, so I don't know. When they first visit Craig, he is clearly not in the city. So one could also guess that wherever Craig's primary residence is, like if it's in Bedford, you know, for for all we know, he inherited his father's property. Um the the kid could be there, you know. The kid could just be there because he has school.
SPEAKER_01And they and they probably wouldn't brought him in before this episode because you just n the end of last week is when you found out she was pregnant. So there's no, you know.
SPEAKER_03Right, right, right, right.
SPEAKER_01So there would be no reason to bring him in beforehand.
SPEAKER_03Well, no, but but they tuned. In this episode, being that they could have together, it's like, okay, so let's figure out well, where is this kid and what happened to Henry? On the next one. And we still haven't seen Sam's parents.
SPEAKER_01The kids with his grandparents. That's what they got. Henry's with his grandparents, her parents.
SPEAKER_03I mean, or that. It this is like the worst episode of Max and Ruby.
SPEAKER_02I was so glad I didn't drink before you said that. I would have ruined another computer and I would have been.
SPEAKER_03I mean, my goodness. The only parents more asleep at the wheel were Max and Ruby's parents. I'm looking forward for 1992 though. I don't, you know, like you said, we don't know how much of a resolution we're gonna end up with. But I I'm enjoying the series still.
SPEAKER_01It's cute. I'm enjoying it too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. So any you got anything else before we wrap up? Nope. Me either. Alright. 1992 on deck. Well, that'll do it for this episode. You could text us if you had watched this ep these episodes when they came out on regular TV. Did you know about this show? Did you watch? Text us and tell us.
