SPEAKER_01

Hi, and welcome to this episode of Assassin's Sips. Today we are going to talk about season one, episode nine, nineteen ninety-four. I'm Lisa, and I am sipping on my red wine. A little Cabernet Sauvignon is the bottle I chose today.

SPEAKER_00

I'm Agnes, and I'm drinking free Jesus juice. I'm just drinking water today.

SPEAKER_01

Did you have any hot takes for this episode?

SPEAKER_00

The end. I was like, wow.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I didn't see that coming either.

SPEAKER_00

No, that was not on my bingo card.

SPEAKER_01

Um speaking of bingo cards, you never did come up with any ideas. I sent you mine. And I and then I never finished it.

SPEAKER_00

And then because I got I got sidetracked. Translation, I forgot.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I had a thought though.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, I had two thoughts.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

One thought was like not necessarily about this episode, but we talked about the fact that they were murdered at the reunion or the night of the reunion. That's why they were all together. So it's like, well, why was it so why was it so strange that they were all together on that night? Because it was the high school reunion. But they went to high school in Bedford, New York. So wouldn't they all have been together up in Bedford? Why did like they if they were all at the reunion and Sam was murdered the night of the reunion, does that mean that the reunion was in Bedford and then they all came back to the city? Or was the reunion in the city? And I know that the reunion doesn't necessarily have to take place in Bedford.

SPEAKER_00

But everything else takes place in Bedford. Like New Year's Eve happens in Bedford. So like I feel like her birthday party takes place in Bedford. But never mind the reunion. Up to now, they're always together.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

I don't see them being together any different.

SPEAKER_01

Which don't that's the only thing that that just seems strange is like I think high school reunion, I think of it as an evening event. And so if you live in New York City, then not so strange for you to all come back together, but still a little strange for you to all go back to somebody's apartment because it's like, well, the event is over, everybody goes home. I don't know, just it just seemed a little off. Especially since it wasn't like it happened before the reunion. Well, unless it did. Unless that tape was recorded before the actual reunion. Anyway. The other thought that I had was if Sam and Craig were having marital issues because Sam makes a comment about like, oh well, what does that say about my marriage? And you know, if if whatever, if XYZ, I'm not gonna be married to him anymore. If Sam decided that something Craig did would cause her to leave him, maybe that created a fracture within the friend group.

SPEAKER_00

Possible.

SPEAKER_01

And that's what Jenna can't forgive Craig for because it it created this divide. I don't I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I I was just still a little stuck on that, but I do have one thing to say. Uh-huh. Just to remind our listeners that those that are watching this show when it initially aired, this was the last episode they got. I feel like we are going on a journey with our listeners that have not that has not been done before the last four episodes.

SPEAKER_01

I think I'm just gonna have more questions left unanswers, unanswered, than we did with Lost.

SPEAKER_00

Well, one season, of course we are. That was the purpose. It's never been completed. I'm a hundred percent sure that there's gonna be no resolution. And I think we're gonna be just unsated. But then a week later I think we would have forgotten about it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, there's not really much else you could do, huh?

SPEAKER_00

That's a good point.

SPEAKER_01

The episode is 1994, it opens at a New Year's Eve party in Bedford, and Duran Duran is playing, and that's like one of my favorite songs. Oh my god. I was like, I just want to rewind so I can listen to this song again. Craig announces his run for state assembly. Will has early admission to law school. Aaron and Pascal are sitting somewhere all lovey-dovey. Carla and Peter, his name is Peter, right? For some reason I thought it was Tom.

SPEAKER_00

Peter. His last name is Holland, right? That's why I'm thinking Tom.

SPEAKER_01

They're together. They're talking about, oh, they missed their New Year's kiss. And Jenna mentions that she has a movie starting in the spring, and she's got a new guy. And what we forgot to say last time is that Jenna was talking to the high school and saying how she has this new movie coming out, but it was actually not true. Right. Apparently, when her and Jake split, things didn't go well for her. It did have it did cause her to be like persona non grata. And that's why she yeah, that's why she moved back to New York.

SPEAKER_00

And this opening scene takes three weeks takes place three weeks after last episode ended, in case anyone No, no.

SPEAKER_01

It's like one week.

SPEAKER_00

I think they said three weeks.

SPEAKER_01

Well the the last episode was wait, hold on a second.

SPEAKER_00

I think someone actually said three weeks.

SPEAKER_01

19 wasn't it Sam's Sam's birthday? It was Sam's birthday, but it was Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

Christmas holiday, but not Christmas.

SPEAKER_01

I thought her birthday was Christmas. Cause now I'm just thinking, if it was Christmas, then why were the kids in school on Christmas? But if it wasn't Christmas, then that makes more sense. But why were they open up gifts if it was Christmas? If it wasn't Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

They were opening gifts?

SPEAKER_01

Didn't her kid open a gift in the morning? Because she was like, oh, it's Chr like for Christmas, didn't he open a gift? Didn't she give Henry a gift to open? I don't know. I'm so confused. Maybe it wasn't actually Christmas. Maybe you're right. Maybe I assumed it was Christmas because of the Christmas decorations?

SPEAKER_00

Christmas season.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, alright. So because I'm thinking if it's Christmas and this is a week later. But either way, I mean it's still very, very soon after 1993 episode ended. And Rachel shows up.

SPEAKER_00

Like a year later.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Year and a half later.

SPEAKER_01

But there like nothing happens with her. We just see her kind of like lurking. But that brings us to the present where she is at the police station and the detective is like, Miss Schofield. We're like, so one of the police officers is like, oh, was she another friend? And like, no. And he's like, oh, Miss Schofield, thank you for coming. And she's like, well, what I want to know is why isn't Craig in jail for murder? She annoys me. The detective mentions that on 1225 94, Sam filed harassment charges against her at this very police station. And then Rachel gives him a news article, but we don't get to see it just yet. Next, we go to spring 1994. It's New York City and it's Henry's third birthday. We get to meet Michael, the campaign manager. We find out that Jenna's new boyfriend is Brad, but he's married. Pascal has left Aaron and went back to France. And the only reason Aaron could find for not being a better husband to Pascal and making it work is because she's not Carla. Because this whole episode is, it's not revolving around Carla and Aaron, but the whole Aaron Carla storyline is the timing is never right.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

So then Rachel shows up at the loft. Will is the one who's talking to her, and she's demanding to talk to Craig. She tells Craig she wants to get back together, and he says no. And then she's just like rattling off all these threats, like, oh, well, I'll just tell people that you're having an affair and this and that. And he's like, but it's not true. She's like, it doesn't matter. Everyone will believe it. And so at that moment, she basically threatens him and loses all her self-respect. Why are you why are you crying over this guy who doesn't want you? Do you really think that that relationship is gonna have a happy ending? How do you think this will end?

SPEAKER_00

You intentionally went after a married man and now you're butthurt because six months afterwards he chose his wife?

SPEAKER_01

They hardly ever leave their wife, first of all. Not necessarily because they love their wife oh so much, it's because they don't want to blow up their whole fucking family. Because their wives are taking care of everything.

SPEAKER_00

Even if they do leave their wife, they're gonna do the same thing to you. Like she needs this, yeah, she needs to take several seats and get out of my TV screen. There is not a tactic that is not that that good. I'm sorry for your self-respect.

SPEAKER_01

It's summer now. We're in Bedford. They are talking the friend group, well, part of the friend group, it's Jenna, Will, and Craig. They're talking about the OJ case and who who would who have driven the Bronco and this and that. And Craig tells Will, the day I decide to murder my wife, you're the first person I call.

SPEAKER_00

That was so funny, but not funny.

SPEAKER_01

Well, the problem is that we all say shit. Like, I'm married. I say shit every fucking episode. Because it's a jest.

SPEAKER_00

It's just because there was specific things referring to OJ.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So, but it's so funny, but I shouldn't be laughing, but it's funny.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And then and then the problem is that, oh, 10 years later, 11 years wait later, no, 12 years later, his wife is dead, and then it's like, ooh, look at what he said. We say a lot of shit every day. It doesn't necessarily make us guilty. If if people took what we said very seriously, NSA would have shut us down a long time ago.

SPEAKER_00

First of all, if people took what people said seriously, we wouldn't be in this political climate. There's that. Um, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So Craig's parents, they're they're at Craig's parents' house because his parents are out of town. And Jenna is telling Sam how it's so good, their relationship. And she's like, uh, yeah, because he's married. So you don't have time to fight. She's like, yeah, he's supposed to leave my his wife for me. And she's like, yeah, you only see each other once a week. Of course, everything is good. And I'm like, you see? Now, I'm not saying I want to be the cheater. I don't want to cheat on my spouse. But this is why, and here I go, I'm about to say something that, you know, taken out of context, it's like, oh, you see? Look at her. You see? She's an adulterer. But this is why I'm like, oh yeah, I could see myself getting involved with somebody who's involved because then it's no strings attached. I don't have to coddle anybody. I don't have to worry about making decisions and thinking about somebody else's feelings.

SPEAKER_00

And she's like she says, she only sees him once a week. She says, see? Yep. It's the perfect relationship.

SPEAKER_01

No strings affair for the win. At this point, Carla shows up with Peter, but Peter's not coming inside. He's not a fan of the friends. He has to go to Chicago for work, and Carla doesn't want to move to Chicago. It comes down to he really just wants her to ask him to stay.

SPEAKER_00

Because when he said, um, he's like, it's just a stupid job. And I'm like, before he even told her, just ask me to stay. Like he told her. And it was like he actually said it's just it's just a dumb job.

SPEAKER_01

And this is a little bit of a like a tough situation. Because they obviously haven't been dating very long. They've been dating for about six or seven months at this point.

SPEAKER_00

She says six months.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. She obviously likes him, but maybe she feels like it while while one of her boundaries is not moving to Chicago because she doesn't know him that well. Her whole life is in New York. But maybe she also doesn't feel like it's appropriate or or okay to ask him to stay. Maybe she feels like it's a selfish thing. And I can understand that. But this is where a little communication would come in handy. Because he tells her that's what he wanted. And so maybe if she would have just said to him, now we we don't necessarily know how that conversation ended because they they cut to a different scene. But maybe she could have just been like, I would love for you to stay, but I don't want to stand in the way of a job because we don't know if this relationship is gonna work out. But if you were not leaving for Chicago, yes, I I would want to pursue this relationship. I don't know. I just I just feel like people just need to talk to each other more. People just need to be more open and just not afraid to be a little vulnerable because sometimes the higher the risk, the higher the reward.

SPEAKER_00

I concur.

SPEAKER_01

I also watch a lot of Call the Midwife, and I am always so impressed at the writing and how the characters in the show are always so respectful to one another, and in in doesn't matter what the scene is, and it's like we are just going to talk, we are going to acknowledge when we're at fault and we're going to have this straight communication, and it's like magic, things get resolved. And I know it's TV, don't tell me it was TV, but I wasn't gonna say that. Oh, okay. But I think that it's kind of refreshing because it's not something that is so radical or so crazy that it's like that won't work in real life. No, it probably would work in real life if we just talk to each other.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

But okay. Um, anyway, the scene that we cut to is inside. They're set, it's raining, so they're setting the table inside because it's the 4th of July. They're setting the table inside, and the campaign manager and his girlfriend, but it's not his girlfriend, it's actually a reporter, show up. Aaron breaks the news that he and Pascal worked, he went there on a business trip and he saw he stopped to see Chloe, and then lo and behold, they work things out and they're having another baby. My note for this is funny how she only finds herself knocked up in France. I'm still suspicious of her.

SPEAKER_00

She was previously engaged to. That one.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And then she was like, oh, but Aaron's gonna be a millionaire, so I'm just gonna, you know, tell him that it's his baby, but we won't go on Maury. The reporter, meanwhile, is asking Sam about, you know, how tough is it having a baby so young and does it affect your marriage? And you know, she's asking about the problems in the marriage. Basically, she's asking about Rachel. Sam is just totally pissed. The campaign manager is pissed, it all just ends badly. The campaign manager tells Craig that you no longer have a campaign because you're hiding things and I quit. Sam was blindsided, she's hurt, and she tells Craig. She asks him to swear that he's never because apparently the reporter has already talked to Rachel. I got that. I don't remember. Yeah, I don't I don't know if they mentioned if she said anything, but Sam asks Craig to swear that he never saw her again after the fair, and he does. And I'm like, you liar.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, technically, I mean, yes, he saw her, but I took it as you didn't see her, like you didn't start up the relationship again, which he didn't. And I think that's how I'm assuming that's how he she meant it, and I'm assuming he assumed that's how she meant it.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and then so I have a and then I have a note, and it says, unless he meant in the biblical sense, then maybe. Aaron is lighting some fireworks, and Will thinks that Craig is not stupid enough to fuck Rachel again, and then he gets himself hired as the new campaign manager. In the present day, we see the detective looking at the older article, and then he hangs it up, and it's about the affair of, you know, Craig Brewster. Which brings us to fall 1994. We're at a campaign rally, and the article published, and Will is like, of course it's not true. That's why they waited till today to publish it. Pascal is there, she's big pregnant, and Jenna says that the married guy left his wife. So look, maybe sometimes they do leave their wives. I guess there's hope for you ladies. Peter arrives and Carla's like, oh, I knew he moved back and I knew this was gonna happen. And Jenna's like, keeping tabs, are we?

SPEAKER_00

I would too. I totally would be keeping tabs on my ex that I my long lost ex.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So I thought about this, and this is obviously I mean, the internet wasn't unheard of, but it wasn't really a thing. It not in the way we think of it now. And with that being said, obviously there's no social media, really no cell phones and text messaging. So, how does one keep tabs on an ex that moved to Chicago?

SPEAKER_00

And you have no friends. But he's back into Bedford. Listen, how did we keep tabs of everything that happened in Carroll Gardens?

SPEAKER_01

But we but that was the same neighborhood, mutual friends, family. I'm sick. Because I I was just saying, like, I was thinking about how did we keep tabs on people and and it was the mutual appropriate.

SPEAKER_00

Someone who knows someone who knows someone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And this is Bedford. They always go back to Bedford for every event. That's true. Her father is still lives in Bedford.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know what? You're right, you're right. Okay, that makes more sense. Because I'm like, the guy was in Chicago, and but yeah, that makes sense. So how does she never meet him before then? Since everyone always hangs out at that one place.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe he was new to Bedford at that time.

SPEAKER_01

He disappeared. Sam is hiding in some room because I who is it? She doesn't want to speak or she doesn't want to come out because of the rumors and the article. Will is trying to assure her and he confronts Craig and is like, I want the truth. Peter comments on Aaron and Pascal. And he's also like, Oh, I saw your pictures and the voice, and they were great. Carla basically says that she was wrong about their breakup, and then Natalie, the volunteer coordinator, enters the scene. And then Carla's like, um, yeah, I gotta go. Bye. Meanwhile, Sam is still talking to Will, and she says that Will is the only person that she can trust. And then she's like, and what does that say about my marriage? Good point, Sam. Good point. But you knew this going in. And Will defends Craig, and he's like, Listen, I know what he's lying, and he's Not, which probably means that he is. Right. And we're missing part four. So there's 10 minutes we don't see. So either we missed more of the fall or we missed more of New Year's Eve. Because in part five, it's New Year's Eve. We're at Bedford Hollow, obviously. And Carla and Peter seem to have worked things out, and they finally get their New Year's kiss. Sam says she couldn't, because Craig is he seems to be like celebrating or he's not really in the scene. He's like from a distance, you see him. Mm-hmm. And so he's happy. So I don't know, maybe he got elected. You know, maybe the election has passed and and he has made it. We don't know. But Sam tells Will that she couldn't have made it through the day without him and that he deserves to be happy. And they just have like that little eye-to-eye kind of moment where it's like because she said the same thing last New Year's.

SPEAKER_00

This is your year. This is gonna be your year.

SPEAKER_01

It will be when you break up with Craig, but okay. We go to present-day New York City. Detective M is walking down some alley to get to his car. But so you see an NYPD car in a lot, but the lot is chained and fenced. And he's like pulling on the fence and it's locked, and he's like, how am I supposed to get to my car? It's New York. Take a fucking train. Or get a like, why is the why is it locked anyway? This whole scene was just so poorly written.

SPEAKER_00

I I concur. Unless it wasn't supposed to be chained. Whoever ran out of the car chained it.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I figured that it just seemed dumb because like he still this is Montana where there's nothing for miles, or I don't know, I've never been to Montana. But I assume that parts of Montana are like that. I've seen Yellowstone. So it's New York City. I mean, you f you fight for a square foot of a loan, you know?

SPEAKER_00

There's subways, there's gaps.

SPEAKER_01

I mean go back into the police station and say, why is the gate locked? This is this is not you being helpless. You are a fucking police detective. You needed to figure that out because if you couldn't figure out how to get out of this situation, I don't have hope if you ever got locked in a paper bag.

SPEAKER_00

I understand that the car had to hit him.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

But it went the car was going so slowly, and he stood there for so long and just didn't be begging for it. Right. Just like two steps over, you would have been, you know, I don't know, might have got in a way. I I I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so he's standing there, like, uh, which way do I go, George? Which way do I go? And we see a black, there's a Mercedes, and it's no headlights. So you and it starts to move. So you already know this car is moving with no headlights. So that should already tell you danger, danger. It starts coming towards you, puts the headlights on. This is an alley. This is not some big street where it can, you know, and you just standing there like a deer in headlights, waiting for this car to run you down. And then it does. You didn't move, you didn't pull your weapon, you like you just did nothing except stand there and let that car drive into you. After the car hits him, it obviously it keeps going, and his papers go flying everywhere, and he is just laying on the side all hurt, bloodied, bruised. And I'm just like, the blood already looks dry, his eyes have already bruised up. I was very disappointed in this scene. It just was such a poorly done scene, and in a way, I'm like, maybe this is why your show got cancelled. It's just I concur. I get what they were trying to do, and at the meat of it, it's like, oh shit, who ran him over?

SPEAKER_00

But getting to that point, but it was executed poor poorly. Correct.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The episode ends there with him hurt on the side of the alley, and now it's like, okay, so now we got another mystery. Not just who killed Sam and why, but who ran over the detective? Like aside from Yeah I don't know. I mean, aside from the detective getting close to maybe figuring out Sam's case. Is he really getting close? No, no, but I'm just saying aside from him getting close to figuring out Sam's case, why else could he have been run down? Now, I'm not saying that he was getting close. I'm saying maybe somebody thought he was getting close and took him out or attempted to take him out. Or maybe his ex-wife is like, this motherfucker is still obsessed. Like, I just, I'm just gonna get the insurance money at this point. I'm gonna close the case once and for all. Maybe Ella did it because Ella was like, I am so sick and tired of him being obsessed with these people that I am just gonna like kill Sam and then make it look like one of the other ones did it, but then kill him because no, too many kills. But I don't know. Like, does he has he ever investigated another case? Maybe somebody else did it. Maybe it's totally unrelated.

SPEAKER_00

The other dude did it. You was in the practice?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That was always their backup defense. The other dude did it.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, right. Yeah. Maybe it was um Detective Matos, because he was like, ugh, I'm so sick of this guy. Oh. So I don't know. If if one of the friends did run him down, which one do you think it would have been?

SPEAKER_00

I said Craig. I think it's Craig because Craig can walk. And I would not be surprised if Craig knows he has an apartment over where he lives.

SPEAKER_01

But but people in wheelchairs can drive. I knew someone who was paralyzed and he still drove.

SPEAKER_00

Right now, but Craig has a driver. So let's talk about that. That's one. And then two, he can walk. So that's irrelevant. I mean, I know he can walk, but I wouldn't be surprised if Craig knows that the detective has an apartment over his loft.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's not over the loft.

SPEAKER_00

At least uh he can see and he can see the entrance of the building.

SPEAKER_01

I was just thinking about something. When and I don't maybe I should go back and look. When we saw 1992, and it was the Thanksgiving episode, and we watched Kenny, you know, young detective before he was a detective, watching the building. We saw Will standing in front. So we got an exterior shot of the building. When we watched 1993, and at the end, when the detective moved into an apartment with the killer view, and obviously we saw Craig going into the building. I were the buildings the same? I don't remember them looking the same.

SPEAKER_00

I think they were close enough for the purpose of to know what he was doing.

SPEAKER_01

I just mean mean it in the sense of it would assume that Craig is still living, it would it would seem that Craig is still living at the loft, but is does he have a different apartment? Is he you know what I mean? Like m I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I sustain the the exterior views may be different, but the interior is the same.

SPEAKER_01

But then why use a different exterior shot if it's the same building?

SPEAKER_00

Have you seen the writing and the other I know that's just like that's a really stupid ball to drop. I'm just saying they have trees, they have like the bench in front of the mountain view. Like come, I mean, the whole it's not a multi-billion dollar production. And it shows. So we know it's the same lot, we've seen the interiors.

SPEAKER_01

And I only say that because if Craig has or is if Craig is going into a different apartment, then that is a clue.

SPEAKER_00

I think that's too much of a clue for this particular show.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Um, there was something else I was thinking of, and I can't remember what it is now.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe it's Rachel. She killed a detective. Oh, she killed Sam.

SPEAKER_01

She killed Sam. And that could also explain why they're going through so much trouble to protect the killer, because the killer leads back to Craig.

SPEAKER_00

And that's why Jen is so uh is so pissed because this whole Rachel shit, he brought him into their circle.

SPEAKER_01

I like it's far-fetched, but in the sense of this show, it makes sense because then it's like on one hand, it's like, well, why would you cover for his mistress? But on the other hand, if covering for the mistress means protecting the kids and protecting Craig, then maybe. You know what I mean? Mm-hmm. I I I'm not loving that theory, but but I can buy it for the show.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And she, I mean, she would have access to his weapon if she spent time in the apartment. I'm liking the show enough that I think I'm not gonna be happy that we're not gonna get a resolution. Yeah. That sucks. Oh well. Next is 1995, right? Mm-hmm. You looked at me like, wait, do I not know how to count?

SPEAKER_00

No, no. I every time we we talk about the year, I go back and say, what was I doing that year?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. So like yeah, I was in high school.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, well, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

We didn't see any present-day scenes from them, only the detective and radio.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I think that's an odd choice, but okay.

SPEAKER_00

I think they had planned for the next episode to be a present-day mic drop. Like, what? Like in my head. Well, we'll find out. We will all find out together next week.

SPEAKER_01

Assuming that people listening haven't already watched those episodes.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they're gonna pretend. Well, honestly, I I don't I I'm gonna assume that we got them watching it again. And like, wait, they had four more episodes? Oh, wait, I didn't know. So this come on, go with me, Lisa. Oh, okay. You're right. You are totally, totally right. Well, one of our once about one of our listeners did not know there was four episodes, and they're watching it as we publish our episodes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So that's one person.

SPEAKER_01

I've never even heard of this show. So I didn't know there were nine, I didn't know that 13, I didn't know anything about this.

SPEAKER_00

Neither did I.

SPEAKER_01

And I'm trying to think what was I doing in 2005 that I was I mean, I was 25. I guess I wasn't watching much TV.

SPEAKER_00

No. No.

SPEAKER_01

Uh I'm trying to think like, okay, I I I lived there, I was working at this job, and yeah, I was having fun. I mean, I was you know I was working. I mean, I didn't have any kids yet.

SPEAKER_00

So You're really having fun.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Something like that. Alright, 1995 on deck. Do you have anything else? This was like a short episode.

SPEAKER_00

Well, consider we lost 10 minutes.

SPEAKER_01

But yes. That's true. That's true. Oh, okay. Let's make predictions. What do you think happened in those 10 minutes? I think that Sam spoke or attended the rally or did whatever she was obligated to do.

SPEAKER_00

I think he won. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_01

I agree.

SPEAKER_00

And I think what else?

SPEAKER_01

We don't get any kind of like closure on Jenna, Craig, Aaron. Yeah. So we don't know what's going on with Jenna and like her married man.

SPEAKER_00

We don't know. And I know I think Craig seems happy. So that's because he's back with Pascal Pascal. So that's that.

SPEAKER_01

Aaron.

SPEAKER_00

That's what I meant.

SPEAKER_01

But were they there in that last scene in part five? I don't remember seeing it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, because when she saw Oh, right, right, right, right, right.

SPEAKER_01

When she saw Peter, he's like, oh, she's pregnant.

SPEAKER_00

She's like, yeah, very pregnant.

SPEAKER_01

So they're yeah, so they're they're together. Carla is back with Peter. So we don't know what happened with Natalie, if that was just like a red herring, if that was actually a girlfriend or whatever. You know, it could be one of those stupid things where it's like Carla runs away so fast before Peter can say, we just co-workers. You know, like we're not actually like there's nothing here, and and I miss you, and I want to be with you. And um we don't know really anything else with Will or with Jenna.

SPEAKER_00

There wasn't really much for them to begin with. There was extras in everyone else's story, so it's fine.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Will's whole thing was he got into law school and now he's a campaign manager because it's gonna look good on his resume, and he's helping Sam because he always helps Sam. And Jenna was like, to fuck a married man or not. The thing that I will say is in the beginning of the episode, they seem surprised that Jenna makes it to the New Year's Eve party because she was gonna be filming a movie, and she's like, Oh yeah, that's not till spring. But in the spring, there's like at least in the parts that we saw, there's never any more mention of the movie. And unless it's filming in New York, you're not on location.

SPEAKER_00

You know, with her struggling um career, I kind of don't pay much mind to it because we know in the present she's a big name. So whatever happened, she overcame it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So I really kind of like don't really pay much attention to it. I'm like, oh no, she'd I know she'll be fine because I want her to be fine. I like Jimmy.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah, but for me, it's not that she'll be fine. It's what what clues are we maybe not picking up on because we're not paying attention to her?

SPEAKER_00

I'm not really looking for the clues. I'm just going into it just to watch and enjoy it. And something pops up, then it pops up.

SPEAKER_01

That's what he said.

SPEAKER_00

And we both enjoy it.

SPEAKER_01

Do you think that Pascal's babies are actually Aaron's babies? I'm not sure. One kid?

SPEAKER_00

Fine. You know, yeah, I got pregnant, never called you. Fine, maybe. But both of them?

SPEAKER_01

And if one is his kid, do you think it's more likely that it's the first one or the second one?

SPEAKER_00

More likely, possibly the second one.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Like they had a one-night stand, and I know that it's possible, but but then they were married, they were living together. So it's just it just seems awkward and strange to me that then she goes back to France, and then, oh, look, I'm pregnant again while I'm, you know, well, we've got an ocean in between us.

SPEAKER_00

How convenient.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, yeah. It's like she went back to the guy, she's like, oh, fuck, I'm pregnant again. All right, I guess it's time to tell Aaron it's his baby, and then I'll just get back to that cushy life.

SPEAKER_00

Everything's hunky dory.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm. Do you think that Sam and Craig are actually going to stay married until her death?

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I'm struggling with that. Like, I don't know. Because every episode it's like, do they belong together? Oh, we love each other so much, but like, oh, this is tough, and this obstacle and this burden. And I mean, that's part of marriage.

SPEAKER_00

I know, but but most marriages don't start with one person having a baby with their best friend by their spouse's best friend. No.

SPEAKER_01

And then hiding it, and then still leaning on the body.

SPEAKER_00

And then the best friend breaking down, and the best friend trying to stop the marriage the wedding. Yeah, there's a lot drama going on. So, because of all that drama, I would not be surprised that they're still together, maybe estranged by time of the reunion. I could see that. I could see them just sticking it, just you know, just sticking it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. This is what love is.

SPEAKER_00

That's sarcasm.

SPEAKER_01

Nothing else, right? No, I'm good. It's open on the hood. Yeah. That is gonna do it for this episode. As always, we remind you to drink responsibly and not to drink and drive.
