Hi, and welcome to today's episode of Sassin Sips. Today we are going to talk about reunion, season one, episode 11, 1996. I am Lisa, and I am sipping on Barefoot Malbeck.
SPEAKER_02Every time you say that, I want to say the barefoot Contessa. I'm not sipping on her. No. And I'm Agnes, and I'm sipping on Kahlua with coffee, flavored with blueberry lavender, cappuccino mix. And I almost dropped it. Lisa saw that her eyes went up wide. Yeah, yeah. So this is 10 years later, 10 years, you know. From the start. From the start. These the kids have really grown up, haven't they?
SPEAKER_00But are they alright? You know the kids are alright, but I don't think these kids are.
SPEAKER_02Okay, to be fair, who of us are alright? None of us are alright. As you get older, you're never gonna be alright again. You your mental well-being peaks maybe in junior high school. Maybe high school if you're lucky.
SPEAKER_00That's a scary thought. How it takes?
SPEAKER_02Um, we saw the mysterious Henry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I that was. I was not expecting that. I was not expecting that either.
SPEAKER_02I was not expecting that. Um, and then and I did say like Henry did it. But I think once again, the ending here was too obvious, so I don't think Henry did it. Now I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Here's why it feels weird to me. And I know we're not there even there yet, but here's why it feels weird because you've been saying that. It's not that far-fetched. But now I don't think so. But however, Craig is like, oh, nobody can trace the car back to me. Why would he have a car that nobody can trace? It just seems too um like all the pieces are just falling right into place. And it just seems suspicious because that's not how real life works. I just know why is nobody saying how could nobody trace his car? What do you mean you have a car nobody can trace? What the fuck? Like why? I I'm just I mean, unless it's because he's He's talking to his father too.
SPEAKER_02So I he's so his father it's kind of expected that okay, of course you wouldn't because you're my son. I think you know, I think everyone else was gonna would ask that, but his father, being who his father is, we're like, good job, son.
SPEAKER_00You know, I'm a little sketchy. Maybe his father you think his father knows he can walk? Because he's sitting in a wheelchair in the scene.
SPEAKER_02So I think he's sitting in the wheelchair to stay as much in character as possible. If his father I would be surprised if his father didn't know.
SPEAKER_00It seems so strange. Like we're we're gathered here today to talk about my son committing attempted murder, but I'm just gonna still pretend that I can't walk.
SPEAKER_02Well, maybe it's assuming that he's being watched. That's when people get fucked. They assume that they're not being watched, meanwhile back at the farm. Like if you go and assume you're being watched, okay, you make less mistakes. And he probably learned from his father what not to do to get caught.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's that's a good point. I I was also okay. Arm Russell, he's got a cane, so I feel like that must be something important.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Sane, but at the same time, like he's also older.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but why bother? Why bother giving him a cane? He's not 40 years older. He's ten you know, he's three years well, he's no, I lied. He's okay. He's 10 years older than the last time we saw him in back then. So 10 years is not It's not that much of a It's really not that much. At all. But also, I was loving the way Will came a little bit more into his own this episode. Very same. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Aaron is like Did you catch where I forgot who said it, but someone said mention like how far they like what they've done in life in the last 10 years or how far they've come. And I'm like, yeah, I just said it last week with Will with his 600 jobs.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I think um, I think it was Craig and Will talking to each other.
SPEAKER_02I think so too. Bob's like, oh, I just mentioned that, especially Will. Massive.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Jenna is just Jenna ing. Sam was barely in this episode. It wasn't a bad episode. I wasn't mad at it. And Carla and Peter. Carla and Peter get some devastating news, which is like, okay, yeah. That that tracks.
SPEAKER_02But didn't we kind of think that anyway?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It has to be something.
SPEAKER_02I think we thought that. I think that came I I think the big C word came up, I think.
SPEAKER_00I feel like even though Carla is probably gonna be like, you know, so devastated because her man and his whatever, but you know, there's this whole underlying current of the Carla and Aaron, and the time is never right. And I feel like, are we just setting them up for their puzzle pieces to fit perfectly together later? Hmm. Instant family. Anyhow, we'll get into the episode. It's 1996. We are upstate driving in a car with Will and Catherine, who are going to see her dad because they plan to marry, and Will wants his blessing. In the city, Jenna, Carla, and Sam are talking about Will and Catherine's relationship, and they're perfect for each other, but I can't believe they get married. And then Jenna's like, yeah, I hope that they don't run off to Atlantic City and elope. And like they did.
SPEAKER_02Like it was cute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So, okay, Carla and Peter are married because they obviously eloped in Atlantic City. Meanwhile, Henry is pouring syrup into Kate, into Jenna's bag, into her Kate Spade, and she's like, My Kate Spade, and Carla's like, you name your purses.
SPEAKER_02I did laugh at that.
SPEAKER_00You fucking kids pouring syrup into person. But you know what? The Kate Spade's not that expensive, though. I mean It's funny. It's not that cheap, but it's not that expensive. It's a Louis Vuitton. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I think her acting is her acting creators.
SPEAKER_02I did the quote. I did the air quotes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because we find out she got passed over for Jerry Maguire.
SPEAKER_02I wonder who got it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I wonder.
SPEAKER_02That was a joke. In case people listening don't understand. In case you're new to this podcast and don't understand that I speak fluent sarcasm.
SPEAKER_00We find out that Carla and Peter are trying to have a baby, and Jenna's like, I don't know why you would want one of those things. Same, Jenna, same.
SPEAKER_02Listen, people who are being honest feel the same way.
SPEAKER_00I love my kids to death. I would be lying if I didn't say that pretty much every day. I'm like, I wonder what my life would be like today if I didn't have kids.
SPEAKER_02I listen, everyone that had the red door, blue door, go back 10 years with your same knowledge or $10 million, whatever. Give me the money. Well, but I wouldn't want to change anything in my past because I may not have my daughter. I may not have my grandkids if anything else was different. And I can't imagine my life without them. Yeah. They're the best things ever.
SPEAKER_00We go to Aaron and Pascal is leaving again. She is going back to France. She is not taking the children. I think she's like, you know what, motherfucker, I've had enough. It's time for you to step the fuck up and you to be a parent. She sends it a lot nicer than I just did because she's a little bit more than a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a little bit about you.
SPEAKER_02Every time Pascal comes out, I think about you. I'm like, what was Lisa saying? What does she think about this situation? Like, I really want to know. Like, what's Lisa?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's so mixed because I I can empathize with her feelings of feeling done with your ass. Yeah, of just being exasperated and and feeling like you can't do this anymore because raising kids is hard.
SPEAKER_02And she's been and to be a single parent without being single, it's harder.
SPEAKER_00Huh. Don't I know it?
SPEAKER_02So I can see, I think it would be a lot harder. I think it's harder this way than it's just a her if she was just a single mom.
SPEAKER_00I think so. I I don't know for sure, but I feel like I agree with that.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I did the single mom thing. I never had a partner who you know, so I I can imagine. I just know it was easier for me to do what I had to do without having to communicate with someone who wasn't there to communicate with. Exactly. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00And this is not to shit on anybody, but I get it because as the primary parent, uh, you know, which is basically how I feel when it comes to anything that relates to the kids, it's hard because you want to consider the other person's feelings when you're making decisions for them. But when those conversations are not consistent, it's hard. Because by default, I am the one who's gonna be left making the decisions and following through on those decisions and many times researching those decisions. And while I appreciate and understand that you want to have input because they're your kids, if you're not gonna help the pre, the present and the post, why? Why do I have you know what I mean? Like it would be easier if I could just do things myself. Now that he's decided he's completely done with my bullshit and we're getting divorced because I said that. No, I'm just kidding. On the other hand, though, going back to Pascal, while I do understand how she might be feeling, I can never understand leaving your kids behind.
SPEAKER_02That that was that's how I felt too. I was like, oh, not my kids. No, no, no, no. I will run. That's and that's why I said it's easy to be with me. It would be easier just to be a s a single parent than it would be a single parent. Like I would like, okay, that's if I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, if I'm leaving to go back to France, they're coming with me, or I'm not going.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if she planned to go. So what do we do about that? Does she have like a like uh I don't want to say and I don't mean this flippantly, but does she have like a mental break where she just like I gotta stop? I don't know. Yeah, sometimes you just have to like, I'm no good for anyone. I need to go, I need to stop, I need to just I can't.
SPEAKER_00And and I'm not talking about those cases.
SPEAKER_02But we don't know.
SPEAKER_00She might have passed on moments.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_00If if you think that you can't do something because it's to your detriment or to somebody else's detriment, then one of the biggest things that you can do is to remove yourself from the situation, get help, revisit, whatever the case is. I just didn't get that feeling from this scene. And I also don't know if she's planning to go forever or just for like a minute because she needs to feel the breath. And the proverbial breath in France. Like um, Devil's Advocate? Excuse me.
SPEAKER_02The opinion on my God, Sam's daughter's adoptive mother. Why can't I get I can't remember the name. That's like four episodes ago. Um, but when she left, you're like, oh my god, how did she just leave and not take her kid with her? And we know why now.
SPEAKER_03We know why, right?
SPEAKER_02We know why. So devil's advocate, this may be the I need five minutes to get away, to recause reset, reassess, and then I gotta start anew. But five minutes meaning a week, two weeks. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Or it could have been, I'm going to lose my shit. And we've all been there. Like.
SPEAKER_00And and I think that that's why we should always fucking keep our mouths shut and reserve judgment. Because unless it's a TV show. And then we judge all the things. And then we judge all of them. Listen, I'm not saying that don't think shit in your head because you know you're going to. However, the person doesn't need to hear your bullshit comments. Like you, unless you know what that person is going through and the reasons behind their decision, just stay the fuck out of it. Just stay the fuck out of it.
SPEAKER_02Because everyone has an opinion like an asshole, and they all stink.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I fucked up that saying, but anyone else.
SPEAKER_00I know what you mean. Yeah. So anyway. I don't know what her deal is. I guess we'll find out. Then again, we might not.
SPEAKER_02We might not, because it's what, two more episodes? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I have such anxiety because I know I'm gonna be left hanging in the lurch with my dick in my hand, but we go back upstate, and Craig and his dad are there at the congressman's house, which is where Will and Catherine are headed. They're talking politics, blah, blah, blah. You know, next steps, what basically Russell's plan for Craig. How the congressman fits, because he's like, Oh, you want my seat? And he's like, Well, there's a Senate seat opening, and whatever. The next scene is the present, and we see Russell walking into the police station to visit the detective, and he's got the cane. And he's just like, he's basically threatening the detective. Like, do you know who I am?
SPEAKER_02Russell threatening? I don't believe it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, I usually don't talk to your kind or some bullshit. Bullshit. I hope this motherfucker arrests you. Just did you forget that you were in jail? Like that you did time? Right. You were guilty of shit. You did shit wrong, and you went to jail for it. As far as we know, the cop hasn't done anything to go to jail for yet.
SPEAKER_02Yet. Ish.
SPEAKER_00Well, at least he wasn't caught, like you're stupid ass. But yeah, it's like he he's just making some pussy ass threats. Back upstate, Will and Catherine arrive. And it's a very awkward encounter because Will has been on the outs with Craig and his dad since Will told Catherine that he wasn't the one driving the car. So they head inside to put their, I guess, their shit down, and Russell kind of tries to sabotage Will. He's like, yeah, that's not the kind of person you want in your family. Like, you know what? We see this over and over again. Only the most pathetic people have to tear down other people to make themselves try to feel better. Like, go find some fucking love, okay?
SPEAKER_02Go find love somewhere. Looking for love in all the wrong places. In all the wrong spaces.
SPEAKER_01Get a puppy.
SPEAKER_00They're good for love. Back in the city, Aaron is struggling. He is, he had to go from I do what I want to, oh shit, daddy time. Getting these two kids up and ready and out of the house and oh, and your babysitter canceled. Oh, and now you have to deal with it? Honey, we have been making shit work since the dawn of time. Since the beginning of making shit work. You got this boob. You'll be okay.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you won't, but you'll figure it out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Since Carla and Peter have been trying for a few months and they're not pregnant yet. First of all, it's like, my God, it's been a few months. Uh what is the rush? But okay. They decide that Peter needs a test on his little swimmers.
SPEAKER_01I'm just saying the way you said that.
SPEAKER_00Back upstate, Craig and Russell are they they left. I guess they didn't want to be there because Will was there, whatever. So they left and they're in the car and they're kind of scheming about their next steps. And Craig feels like he would have had a better chance at succeeding in, I guess, going for the seat, the con congressional seat, if Russell had backed off and let him handle it. So they're like, okay, well then let's go back to the house. So they turn around, they go back to the house. Aaron is basically calling everybody and anybody he knows to try to get help because Chloe goes to school, but the little one, and I don't I don't know if they mentioned her name. I'm sure they did, but I don't remember. Neither do I. Well, she's a baby. She's an at first, he's like, she's a toddler. She's a fucking infant. Infant. Uh toddle, toddler is when they toddle. And this baby was barely crawling. So he brings the baby to work and he hands her over to like an assistant, and the assistant's like, uh, this is not my job description. Yo, it don't have to be in your job description for you to fucking help somebody out. I mean, really? It's a baby, and the man is obviously trying to come in, trying to do his job. He needs a little help. You could help him for a few minutes. Okay, to be fair, okay.
SPEAKER_02There are certain things, not necessarily kids per se, but if I'm trying to do X, Y, and Z, no, I'm not doing A, B, C, D, E, F, G either. There's the this boundaries. And I'm not mad at him, but we're like, um, no. You know what I mean? Babysitting, great. I'm not saying that five minutes was gonna kill him, but at the same time, watching someone else's kid is not necessarily in that job description. He was alright, would say to be upset about that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I get it, like in that sense. But I think that just as people, you know, having a little compassion for others, especially when they're in a pinch. Now, had Aaron said, okay, part of your daily duties every day are to change diapers, that's that's a type of story, but also, but that's how it starts off with this give me five minutes, and then next thing you know. So then maybe the better comment would be, listen, you know that this is not my job. Like, I'm happy to help you out today, but but you can't make this a habit. Because I'm just saying, like, the guy came in, he's frazzled, he's doing the best he can. Obviously, this was not how it was planned.
SPEAKER_02Here's another thing. Me playing, I don't want to say that if it was the same time, was it 1997, 96, 97, 1996?
SPEAKER_0096.
SPEAKER_02If a woman came in, holy shit, my baby should have called out, it would have been a totally fucking different story. She would have been reprimanded, she would have been sent home, she would have been called unprofessional, she would have been called you can't do your job. It would have been a whole different story.
SPEAKER_00Now, I'm not, listen, I'm I'm with you on that, and I agree a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_02I'm turning it to Lisa.
SPEAKER_00No, and you are right.
SPEAKER_02When she gives me five minutes to get in a soapbox, when she allows me.
SPEAKER_00That's the thing, you're 100% right. And all I'm saying is that it costs zero to just be a little empathetic because somebody is having a bad day. Man, woman, you have an employee. And actually, he's not even an employee, he's the fucking boss. He is the company, and he's like, I've got a problem. I just need a little help. You can help somebody. Like, somebody had to be able to help. I'm I'm a helper. That's it. I'm just, I'm a helper. But he said, and he tells his assistant, like, look, I called somebody. She's just, you know, she's on her way, but until she gets here, I just need some help. Turns out who he called was Jenna. And Jenna's like, um, I thought you wanted to have a drink and you needed a shoulder to cry on. She's like, I don't really do babies. And he's like, You're an actress. Just pretend like. Just act like you're a mom. Holding that baby, like it's like, you know, oh my God, what what the hell?
SPEAKER_02When the assistant said, um, if you wanted someone who liked children, you should have hired a woman. I was like, ew. Uh-huh. And then, but Craig's not Craig. Every response was like, yeah, that didn't go over so Willie's.
SPEAKER_00No. And then, and and then Jenna comes in who is a woman, and even she's like, ew, babies.
unknownEw.
SPEAKER_02I thought that was funny.
SPEAKER_00Back at the Carla Peter front, there's obviously something wrong with his test because the doctor who's doing it approaches Sam is like, hey, look at this. And she's like, okay, do it again and order more tests. Stat. She didn't say stat, I did.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00Upstate, they're planning to go hunting, because you know, big manly sport to kill animals in the forest. And Craig and Russell arrive back. They're like, oh yeah, the road was blocked. So we're gonna join the hunt. They go to get the gear, and Craig is like, the road was blocked, huh? Uh oh no, sorry, Wills is like, the road was blocked, huh? He was like, Yeah, would you believe it? And obviously not, but as they're hunting, Russell is obviously very comp comp competitive. And he's like, Do you see something move? And he takes a shot, he shoots a tree, and they're all fucking making fun of him for it. They're like, oh, that tree's that tree learned its lesson or whatever. And of course, because he has he is the second smallest man ever to live, he's like, You hurt my feelings, but I can't say that because I'm supposed to be a big man. Yes. And him and Will are just going back and forth, and Will's just like, whatever. Like, whatever. The congressman tries to break it up, but he slips, falls down the side, and ends up impaling himself on a branch. Jenna is at Aaron's apartment with the baby, and apparently she shows no warmth and has been told so by critics. Will and Russell are trying to get help because their cell phones don't have any kind of service in the woods. So they leave. Basically, Will is like, okay, let's do this. Let's pack the wound, let's protect it, keep him warm. Craig, you stay here, I'll go get help. I mean, he jumps into action. And Russell's like, I'll go with you because you shouldn't be walking through the woods alone. They're running, they need to stop to catch their breath. And I'm not I can't remember what was the catalyst of it, but Will it just is like, you know, he needs help. And if you can't do it, like at least just don't slow me down or something. And he points his gun at Will. And Will is like, he's like, oh, I went to jail for you. And Will is like, I went to jail for you. What's your point? Right. Yeah. Yeah. Like, except that, you know, I mean he didn't say it, but it's like Will was the one who wasn't guilty of anything. Okay. And he points the gun at him and he's like, you know what? Just fucking shoot me. I don't care, but I'm just gonna go get help. It's like good for you, Will. Good for you. Sam and Carla are now discussing Peter's result. Uh Peter's there too, actually, but and Carla is just like she has taken the lead. And turns out his swimmers are okay, but he has cancer and more specifically, probably leukemia. Craig is still sitting with the congressman and he's not doing well. You know, he's just he's trying to keep him talking. He's he's telling him that Will is actually a good guy. He's sticking up for Will. And then the congressman just slips away. He he can't hold on. We fade into the song Lightning Crashes. Such a good song.
SPEAKER_02This whole okay, so the one thing they did right was their background, their soundtrack. They nailed it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It has Lisa's approval, which is saying a lot. Let me tell you, people. You have no idea.
SPEAKER_01And look at her.
SPEAKER_00She looks so she's so proud of herself. Yeah. I love that. And we go to Carla and Peter, and Peter's, you know, he's having a flip-out moment. And and what about, and do I have to do this and do I have to do that? And like, how is my life gonna be? And and he's entitled to it, right? It's a scary, scary diagnosis. And when your future is uncertain and you don't know what anything means and how it will affect your life. Like I it's scary. It's scary beyond comprehension. And Carla's like, Carla goes to a drawer and pulls out a book, and it's kind of a bucket list thing.
SPEAKER_02It was so cute.
SPEAKER_00And it's like basically all the things that she wants to do with him before he dies. And he's like, is that what that is? And she's like, no, this is just the beginning. Well, we'll see. I mean, we know he dies, we just don't know when.
SPEAKER_02They kept that a secret from us.
SPEAKER_00At the at Erin's apartment, Jenna and Aaron are having a good chat. You know, he talks, he well, first he talks to his daughter. He's talking to Chloe, and he's like, because she's not doing okay. And and that's okay. You know, she's a kid, she doesn't understand. These are big things. She's having like these big feelings, she doesn't know about them. And you can see he's he is trying now. You know, I I don't know how he was as a dad before, but at least for now, he's trying, and he's like, you know, mommy and daddy are trying to figure things out, but I need you to be strong for your little sister, and he gets her talking a little, whatever. And then he goes to the living room, and him and Jenna are having a conversation. And at this point, I was kind of like, oh, please don't get together. Please don't get together.
SPEAKER_02That crossed my mind too. I'm like, oh, please just keep it the way it is. And this is also the scene where I'm like, wow, everyone in the group slept with each other. Like practically, he slept with Carla and Jenna. Sam slept with Will and Craig. You know what I mean? Like there's a lot of Jenna Chris Craig.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And I feel like there's a lot of like this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So but it it seemed like it seemed like an overall good thing, you know?
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like those are the kinds of friends you need in your life. Russell, and this is this is the 1996. Is that what year we're in? 1996?
SPEAKER_0396, yes.
SPEAKER_00Russell and Craig, and they're talking about like basically how they're going to spin this death.
SPEAKER_02Like And Russell came out the bat with he came out just Yeah. He had it ready.
SPEAKER_00He was so he died with his protege by his side, and it's like, but you could see their their wheels and their eyes all lighting up.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00In the present, Russell is in the loft talking to Craig about the charges, and Craig is like, nobody can prove the car was mine. And then he's like, but you know, maybe it was because somebody, or maybe it was somebody who was angry who just lost their mother and doesn't want to lose their dad. And I'm like, is he throwing his son under the bus?
SPEAKER_02And the bus? Because it sounded very much like the spin his father said in the car ten years ago.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Because he's like, why don't you let me worry about this, Dad? Like, I don't need you to worry about it.
SPEAKER_02He's like, have a seat. The same way his father said, have a seat to Will.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And so I think that that's exactly like him hearing him say it, I didn't catch it. But hearing you repeat his words, I'm like, oh wait, hold up, wait a minute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I'm like, I don't think he actually ran him down. I think he's just gonna pin it on him.
SPEAKER_02So maybe he did do it in pinning on his son.
SPEAKER_00What the fuck? Fuck. First of all, even if your kid did it, it's kind of like, oh, that's uh that's a really tough position.
SPEAKER_02Because obviously nobody wants their kid to imagine Russell being the better father.
SPEAKER_00He was at least trying to protect his Can you imagine in this situation?
SPEAKER_02These Russell trying to protect his son, all being on the best way. But you know, he had but these was better than using your kid to protect yourself. Or that's hysterical.
SPEAKER_01Russell's the better father of the two. Yeah, so that you look so upset right now.
SPEAKER_00I am upset. You know, like when your kids are little, you can blame them for the farts. You can blame them for when you spill something on your shirt. You're like, oh, it was just the kids. Yeah. But after that, no. That like that, you don't you gotta stop blaming shit on your kids.
SPEAKER_02To be fair, I still blame my daughter for the farts, and she's 25.
SPEAKER_00So But you know, like farts and spills, and then afterwards it's like, no, everything else is too much. Please don't blame your kids for your fucked up shit. I mean, I blame her for my stretch marks, because technically I mean that might be okay.
SPEAKER_02Okay, thanks. All right, but no, but I don't I don't believe I like I watched it just this morning. Yeah, but I watched it and I paid attention, but somehow hearing you say the words made it click. I'm like, oh shit. Lisa, you are phenomenal. This is why we do the show. This is why we do what we do.
SPEAKER_00I it just first of all, I'm I'm always suspicious of a reveal that comes too easily. I think Walker has done that to me. But it just was like, wait a minute. And then he's like, sit down, son. We have to talk about a car accident or your car accident. And the son just is kind of standing there like, huh? Like what? Like I couldn't really get a read from him, but I don't know what the fuck they are doing. I was thinking, however, the fact that Craig has a car and it's like, oh, it can't be traced back to me. I wonder if maybe it's just simply because he can walk and he can drive, so he he needs to have a car.
SPEAKER_02Car that's not connected to him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, just for that simple reason. I mean, it could be something more nefarious, but it might not be.
SPEAKER_02I mean, the fact that you're high that you can walk is nefarious in and of itself.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02So there's that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And the fact that he's still sitting in his wheelchair, I know you said, like, oh, because they're being watched, but it's like, I don't know, close the fucking curtains then, like the way you did the last time. If you're being watched, I feel like it's still a little suspicious for you to be sitting there in like a huddle with your dad and your kid right after. Like, I don't know, it just the detective is gonna think that's suspicious. Because the detective is like, I just follow the evidence. Eh. You're pretty set you know who did it. And maybe he did, but I don't know if you're just following the evidence.
SPEAKER_02I mean, he's following the evidence in his head.
SPEAKER_00He's following all the evidence that points to Craig, anyway.
SPEAKER_02And the ones that don't point to Craig, he's turning, he's spinning it around so it does. It's like he's taking the bottle and it lands on East. He's like, oh no, let me turn it this way. He must have been really fun to spin the bottle. Ew. He's not a bad looking guy. He was a talk about like an kid.
SPEAKER_00Did you prefer to be like, Oh, wait, you're talking about Russell, not Craig, right?
SPEAKER_02Wait, how's it about the detective?
SPEAKER_00Oh, the detective Like he always makes things turn. He makes things fit his. Yeah, no, he's he is a handsome guy.
SPEAKER_02So like he must be like if he's gonna make it like spin the bottle to fit his narrative, so that's the joke.
SPEAKER_00Fuck that up. Did I miss something? Did I?
SPEAKER_01Go back to the edits. Who missed what? Okay, thought talk about making the stuff narrative fit.
SPEAKER_00Right, you're right. I don't know. And that's I guess that's why I thought you were talking about Craig. Oh. I don't know, okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I think we both missed something. I think we I think that was a both possibly.
SPEAKER_00So it in terms of Cra um no, wait. Oh Aaron. Between Benadryl and I don't know who I am right now. Half a bottle of wine and Benadryl? Well, not a half bottle. I mean I I I've got no brain cells left. The whole Carla Aaron thing Uh-huh. You know, the timing is never right, the will they, won't they, can they, when they They shouldn't, but go ahead. I don't know. I feel like this would be the perfect thing for them. In terms of this show, Pascal may be out of the picture forever. Carla obvious had has had feelings for him, and I'm not saying for her to leave Peter, but we know he's gonna leave her. So the way you said that, like he's gonna leave her. Well, he is. And she wants a family, and look, Aaron already has a family.
SPEAKER_01I can't with you.
SPEAKER_00I just think that they should just get together and live happily ever after. Because he's like, it was never hard from us. And she's like, but there was never an us. Well, now there might be. And then it's like big us. It's a bigger us. It's at least the size. But what if that maybe they work so well because there isn't an us? You know what? Like they said on friends, it only has to work once. Maybe it would. Maybe they were. Maybe by the time it's 2006 and they are in the in the cemetery, maybe they already were back were a couple.
SPEAKER_02If they were, it didn't work out. Why not? Because their demeanor, when they are together, it's just not as a couple.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. I I think that when you have when you have such a history with somebody, it like it can just take many shapes. So I didn't know.
SPEAKER_02I didn't give couple vibes.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02And and my I don't know. They didn't give Carl and Aaron vibes. I don't know what that means, just so you know. Don't ask me, I don't know. I just said it.
SPEAKER_00I f I feel like if I was friends with somebody for a very long time, and there was an attraction, and we hooked up, but then it was like never the right time, and we've both since moved on, but then we come back together because his wife died, even though like I was there for him in the moment, and it was it was pure intentioned, but then we got together after it. If I was at the at the cemetery with my current partner, romantic interest, whatever, boyfriend, husband, spouse, whatever you want to say it, and he's visiting his ex-wife's grave. Like, I'm gonna have an issue because okay, that's your ex-wife, and I I'd be like, all right, I'm there, I'm supporting you. I feel like it also just might be awkward to like put your arms around them and be like, No, I don't mean the cemetery.
SPEAKER_02I'm talking about any scene with them together in present time did not give off couple vibes.
SPEAKER_00Whenever they're together, like unless maybe they they got together and then it didn't work out.
SPEAKER_02That's what I said. I said, I said, like, if it did, it didn't work out because they're not a couple now. Oh my god, this is what happened. You don't listen to the black baby, you don't listen to the black woman. I mean.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry. This is what happens when you don't really eat and then you're partake.
SPEAKER_02I s that's what started. I said, um, I said, I don't think they ever got back together. They never got together. If they did, it it didn't last.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I like the end of that.
SPEAKER_02And then if it did, because they don't give off couple vibes in the present time.
SPEAKER_00Okay. My mistake.
SPEAKER_01Lisa fucked up is funny.
SPEAKER_00I am I am kind of funny.
SPEAKER_01Lisa fucked up is Agnes sober. So this is good to it's good to see me. So that's how I act. Interesting. I'm sorry, I'm just listening to you.
SPEAKER_02Um, I'm watching you try and get your shit together and it's kind of funny.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I don't know. I guess it like I don't really have anything else for this episode. Do you do you? I don't think so. Oh gosh. All right, well, 1997 and then 1998, and I don't know. I don't know what we're gonna do, but have you picked a new show yet?
SPEAKER_02I swear to god, Lisa. You really don't remember. I've even told you the name of it a couple of times.
SPEAKER_00Oh wait, it was a show I never heard of. I'm I'm not please speak responsibly. Yes, I'm not driving anywhere. I'm I'm sitting in my bed. The my biggest task right now is washing my sheets.
SPEAKER_02And I don't have cupcakes to pipe.
SPEAKER_00Impossible dinner.
SPEAKER_01Lisa doesn't put the day, but the show. What? I don't know how I feel about you right now, Lisa. I don't know. I just don't drop the new types. And every time you ask me, like, do you pick a new show?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna tell you no, Lisa. I don't have a new show. We we'll have to just wing it come in three weeks. We'll just have to wing it. Three, four weeks. Yeah, sorry. Okay. And in three weeks to see what show it is, you'll find out when Lisa finds out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, pretty much.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you kind of have to watch the episode though.
SPEAKER_00So I'll find out just before. We're gonna record tomorrow, yes. Okay, can you please tell me what I'm allowed to watch now?
SPEAKER_02She's gonna find out one hour before recording.
SPEAKER_00Okay. 1996 in the books. I don't have anything else. You? No?
unknownNo. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Don't make fun of me. I'm so out of it right now.
SPEAKER_01You're doing it all by yourself, Lisa.
SPEAKER_00That victim blaming.
SPEAKER_01You victims of your own actions?
SPEAKER_00Obviously. Um shit. I'm like, who am I right now?
SPEAKER_02Well, you usually do the the outro.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay, yeah, let's do that.
