Hey y'all, we're back for our last episode.
SPEAKER_01Knock knock.
SPEAKER_00Who's there? Oh, should I fall for it again?
SPEAKER_01It's the final episode of season one. Its name is knock knock. Yes. And if you haven't realized it yet, you're listening to Assassin's Sips, and we're your hosts. I'm Lisa.
SPEAKER_00I'm Brittany.
SPEAKER_01And we are here today to discuss knock knock, the final episode of season one of Six Feet Under. So, what are you drinking today?
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm working on that shitty one like I was last time. I still have some left. It's that, you know, I just give me one moment. I'm gonna be fast. I'm gonna get the bottle. I'm gonna find the name.
SPEAKER_01Well, I have some sangria because I had made some for a party, and I have a buttload left over, and so I came prepared, not only with the glass, but with the extra bottle. So I don't have to get up to refill.
SPEAKER_00She said I'm drinking from the bottle.
SPEAKER_01I'm drinking from the cup. Look, because the cup has ice, and I put a lid so that it helped me not make a mess. But I brought the bottle so that I didn't have to like get up to get a refill.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm having one glass because I need to drive home after this, but um, it's Charles Shaw, the 441 bottle of Pinot, Charles Shaw. Is it good? No, what kind of? I mean, like, not it's not Santa Margarita, let me tell you that. But it it it goes down, it does the job.
SPEAKER_01And that's what it would maybe what he said. I don't know. That's what Dave said.
SPEAKER_00That's what he said when he was done. It goes down.
SPEAKER_01Um okay. So I'm gonna I found this pretty good synopsis online, and it's by the A V Club. So I'm giving them credit, but I'm more or less just gonna read their work because I I felt like I just really couldn't do much better of a job. So all right, the episode opens, and it's Matthew Gillardi, our favorite douchebag, on a golf course. So he stands by the first T as he's sized up by Mrs. Huntley, the woman who apparently pulls the strings at the Croner Death Services Corporation. Hovering over the ball with the driver, she says to him, You're ambitious, you're also shallow and amoral, and she likes that in a man. And then I make that swing. I I know. Like, did she miss it on purpose?
SPEAKER_00Because that was like bad. She definitely didn't miss it on purpose because she was having like indigestion, but I thought she was gonna die. I that's what I thought too. Watching it for the first first time, I was like, shit, it's gonna be a lot of water on us. Yeah, I was like, I was like, this episode's gonna fly by, it's the last one of the season. Like, wow, look at them go. And then she's like, Oh no, just a little indigestion. She burps in his face. Oh my god, and then she hits like such a like a horrible swing. Like, she hit the ball with a horrible swing.
SPEAKER_01The ball goes like oh, I know nothing about the balls, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Right. No, I would probably do a similar swing, but she had her visor on, she looked official, but anyway, the ball does not go on the green, it goes in the head, or it beats.
SPEAKER_01Oh no. It yeah, I mean, the one thing that this didn't mention is that they're talking about hit her telling him that she's looking for him to get three more houses for them to basically turn for profit. Um, and so I only mention it because I don't know if that's gonna be important later. You know, since Croner and all that has kind of been a running theme underneath. Yeah. I don't know if if the fact that they're still trying to look for more real estate is gonna be a thing. But the golf ball hits this little lady who's just sitting in her yard chilling, like we were this weekend, and she's just chilling and hits her in the head and knocks her out and apparently kills her. And we see the title card, and her name is Lillian Grace Montrose, 1939 to 2001. And I don't know about you, but I recognize that name right away.
SPEAKER_00You best bet.
SPEAKER_01I was like, oh my god, is she related to the funeral whore?
SPEAKER_00Indeed, she is. She is so we later find out that she is actually the aunt of our good friend. I'm spacing on her full name. Yes, Tracy Montrose. What's her last name? Montrose. No Montrose Montrose Blair. Oh, Blair, Blair, yeah, Tracy Montrose Blair, and so that's her aunt. And Tracy Montrose Blair even tells us that, like, that was my only family member that I was close to.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because you're fucking terrible, nobody else wants you.
SPEAKER_00But that's definitely the result of like really shitty, like uptight family members. Yeah, her personality had to come from somewhere, and so it's so strange. And I don't know if you were thinking this, how like we learned about her like literally from the first episode, she always leaves like being annoying throughout the rest of the episodes, almost providing like comedic like breaks from like all the heaviness of the show. She would come in and we would just like laugh at her, and then the last episode is focused on like hardship around her. It's really interesting how they wrap that up, but you know, now David and Nate are kind of plagued with putting on the funeral for Tracy's aunt Lillian.
SPEAKER_01And it sh it fucking feels like a plague because she is horrible.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, not Lillian, Tracy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I mean, maybe she I mean, I don't know, she's dead. We don't really know, but it is true. She put up with Tracy, so she's probably a saint. Um when the episode opened after the title card, you see Nate taking the funeral director licensing test, and his pager goes off. And I'm like, first of all, you don't have that shit on vibrate. You're in the middle of a fucking test and you pull it out. How are you not disqualified? Anyhow, it says, I need you B.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, so fucking 2000. Let me ask you something. Did you think it was Billy for a second?
SPEAKER_01Okay, I I I I didn't have any doubt that it was Brenda. I mean, I guess I could have been wrong, but I was like, Oh, that's Brenda, because she's fucking flip-flopping.
SPEAKER_00I think the first time I watched the show, I was like, it's Billy again with the candles.
SPEAKER_01Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_00Um no, it's needy ass Brenda.
SPEAKER_01After the test is over, he goes to her and she has to go visit Billy at the mental facility where she had him committed, and she tells Nate that she's so afraid of what he's going to say to her. Nate offers some token reassurance and encouragement, but he's less than thrilled to have Brenda and Billy in the same room again. Who knows what sort of machinations he'll put her through this time?
SPEAKER_00But honestly, the Billy and Brenda scene, which this is the only Billy Brenda scene in this album, was actually like so like like a pure sibling moment.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it it took a minute. I think I I I watch and I was just waiting for him for us to realize that he's playing her.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, for him to flip the switch.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then when it didn't happen, it was like, oh, and so then when I watched it the second time, it was a lot easier for me to enjoy it for what it was because I wasn't waiting, I wasn't so good. Yeah, yeah. Um, so they wrote, diabolical Billy is dead, the torture itself is still there, it's just been placed in a padded, isolated cell of heavy medication. He says, Whatever I was feeling before, I'm not feeling now. And within the first few seconds, she apologizes to him. But he says that he's the one who should be sorry, given that he was about to seriously hurt the person he loves the most. Yeah, he says you deserve to be happy, and he doesn't. And then he says that he has weird ass karma. She says they both do, and he says, No, it's just him. But they they separated themselves.
SPEAKER_00What do you mean by that?
SPEAKER_01Because before this, they've always been like so codependent almost.
SPEAKER_00Attached by the tattoo. What I said attached by the tattoo?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't know if it was like because of it or part of it, but it was always like he he was always part of Brenda, like Brenda kind of almost defined his whole existence. And now he's kind of saying, Well, you can go be happy, but whatever he was like, whatever this blood of mine is, something like that, like bad blood or sick blood, or something like that, that he doesn't deserve to be happy. And it was it was so sad almost because he's like coming to terms with exactly what this illness means for him, yeah. Even though, you know, if let's be realistic, you know, it's it's not the stone age, as long as you are aware of what's going on and you take your meds, you know, and and they're the right dosage, because I know that that's an issue, but Billy, you can live a totally fucking great life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, let me ask you a question. Did they ever say in the show what his diagnosis is? Because I feel like we were discussing some uh like some variation of maybe a bipolar disorder. I I thought it was bipolar, but I don't know if it was my that's what I'm saying, inference, or if yeah, they might they may have said it. So Billy at some point says this in his conversation with Brenda. He said, I'm so lost inside, I just want to get out. I don't think I'll I ever will. And then he says something because Brenda starts crying, and he said, On the inside, I'm crying, but I don't have any tears, do I? That that made me think like he was like um a sociopath or something that he had like sociopath tendencies, the way that like he was talking, like I can't show emotion, but it was weird because he was saying that he had emotion, but he was too like old to maybe he was just like fucked up with the medication.
SPEAKER_01That's that's what I took it as like that it had to do with the medication because he was just so subdued, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So that honestly kind of I feel like I feel kind of like uh like a the book closed for Billy, you know, not that he will never be in the show again, but I feel like this chapter that we were reading is finally over with him, and his story is now like put to rest. Like, so as if there wasn't there is another season, but let's say there wasn't, I would feel like we have closure with Billy and his like recovery and stuff like that, and like he's in a safe place, they made amends the end for their story.
SPEAKER_01Um, not to interrupt, but before we go on, I also want to just mention that the sound quality, it is hot as fuck today, and I have the air conditioning on because if not, um I'll melt into a puddle and die. And so I apologize. I don't know how much the recording is picking it up, but if it's bad, I apologize. I'll try to do whatever I can to get rid of it post, but I I have to keep it on because it's even with the air, it's still like 85 degrees in here. It's yeah, because of the the upstairs and stuff, and the yeah, so okay, that that was all I had to say. I meant to mention in the beginning and I forgot.
SPEAKER_00PSA is over now.
SPEAKER_01PSA over. Um okay, so then they leave the facility.
SPEAKER_00And have closure as the audience, Brenda doesn't, she leaves confused and angry.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it says the most meaningful person, personal relationship of her life has been taken away from her, and she reacts in a familiar manner by shoving Nate away. Suddenly she's asking Nate whether he's thought about marriage. She says, I need to know where this is going. I need to know if I'm wasting my time.
SPEAKER_00Then she shits on him for being 35 years old and not having a serious relationship. Like, what? Right, right. Where did that come from? The conversation that they had before in the car on the way to the facility was nice and fine. She goes to see her brother, and then in the car, she's like just shitting on his whole life.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Although, upon reading deeper into the synopsis done by the A V Club, they made a good point. Um, and it says something to the effect of that she's she's shoving him away before he can leave her, like as a defense mechanism, and that makes a lot of sense because she's always so worried about everyone like psychoanalyzing her and all that shit. Like she definitely has the walls, and and it goes right into what you were saying last week about the glass house. And so I really think that there's something with all that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, basically, they're arguing, and and she's not paying attention to where she's going, and she steers into the oncoming lane of traffic. Nate manages to get the wheel and pulls the car back over, but instead they they hit um they they t-bone a part like a parked car. Like that was off the side of the road. And then basically, the next thing you see is them in an ambulance. The EMT is calling in the accident. She's on the stretcher, she has the thing around her neck and her head, and she's called oxygen on her face too, right? Yeah, yeah, but they give you oxygen like for anything, so yeah, but Nate was like sitting up with the on.
SPEAKER_00But she was laying down unconscious, right? Right.
SPEAKER_01Um, and he was confused, like he doesn't remember what happened, he doesn't know anything, and he's just kind of like freaking out because Brenda's laying there. The next thing you see is the hospital, and Nate is okay. He walks into Brenda's room and he tells her that he prayed for her while she was unconscious, and that he hasn't done that in a long time. And he says, He'd I don't know what I'd do if I lost you. So if you want to get married, I'm all for it. Brenda smiles and says, Okay, maybe I was overreacting. Let's just take it one step at a time. I think I don't know, Brenda seemed a little like medicated to me, but but also kind of like calm. It was hard for me to tell. Are you saying this because you're medicated? Like they they probably gave her pain medication, and she probably had like a little bit of concussion or whatever. And so, are you really aware of what you're saying? Or is it just that you're calm now and you've put this event into perspective and say, Yeah, I don't like in your head, like I don't really want to fucking get married. I was just overreacting, and in the grand scheme of things, like I'm good. So I don't know, it was hard for me to tell where that was coming from.
SPEAKER_00On the opposite scale, I just feel like Brenda has the mentality, like, nothing matters, everything's a performance, life isn't real, this is a simulation. She has that, and so I feel like she kind of like almost purposely did that for something crazy to happen, maybe not for them to get into an accident, maybe for like him to swerve away and realize life is so short, we should get married.
SPEAKER_01Like, because she's still thinking it was that. I thought I thought it was more so like her trying to pick a fight to push him away.
SPEAKER_00That too, yeah. I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I just like I feel like I can't trust Brenda. Yeah, no, I but I agree with you where it's like nothing, nothing besides Billy ever matters to her.
SPEAKER_00Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, everything else is just like whatever, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and so even though Brenda's in a hospital bed and Nate isn't, um the doctors actually spot something unusual in Nate's brain scan, and the doctors actually want to take a closer look. And it turns out that Nate has been now diagnosed with AVM in his brain, which is like a deformation in which arteries connect to veins where they shouldn't, and it's pretty much treated like cancer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it says medically it's too early to draw any meaningful conclusions, but Nate doesn't want to hear that. Could I die from this? He asks. The doctor says, it's possible, yes. And while Nate has dealt with death all his life, he's never had such a tangible expression of his own mortality. And as Nathaniel Sr. puts it to Nate in a vision, whoa boy, this time it's personal. I love that Senior was back all over this episode.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say, because last episode he didn't show up once.
SPEAKER_01And the other one. And really he was always back with um Claire and Nate.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, mostly Claire.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say because David had somebody come back to him, but it happened to be the same person from last episode.
SPEAKER_01It wasn't right, it wasn't Senior, it was Marcus, and Ruth. Nobody came to Ruth.
SPEAKER_00Nobody ever comes to Ruth. She's a piece of truth. I'm sorry. I really don't like Ruth. I think I don't like Ruth more than I don't like Brenda, but we can get into that another time.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um, it says, I changed one of the words here because I couldn't help it. Um, but they wrote, we've seen a lot of Tracy Montrose Blair this season. In this episode, we learned that the and then I wrote, the chirpy little bitch is uh I couldn't help it. I don't know what the fuck word they use, but I was like, no, that's not in my vocabulary. Um yeah, I don't know. She's a high-powered party planner. So in the wake of her Aunt Lillian's death, she starts organizing, and when there's nothing left to organize, she throws everything away and organizes it all again. As long as she's making calls, telling people where to put the flowers or burning a CD of music for the viewing, everything feels like it's going to make sense.
SPEAKER_00By the way, the word is gadfly, it's pronounced like that. It's a fly that bites livestock, especially a horsefly, wargle fly, or botfly. Or it's used to describe an annoying person, especially one who provokes others into actions by criticism.
SPEAKER_01So maybe that was pretty accurate.
SPEAKER_00It was, but our feeble brains couldn't recognize the word.
SPEAKER_01I didn't grow up on a farm. I don't know about this business. You're from Brooklyn. I know bitches. Now let me stop. Um says when you're planning, it's only natural that everything seems to go according to a plan. Once the viewing happens, though, and there's nothing more to arrange, all that remains for Tracy is the agonizing randomness. Her aunt, the only person who ever really loved her, was struck dead by a stray golf ball, a one in a million shot. No amount of planning will make that cruel twist of fate go away. So on the day of the viewing, she won't even look at the event she put together. And at the end of all that fevered planning Excuse you, computer. At the end of all that fevered planning, life still doesn't make sense, and Tracy can't stand it. Why do people have to die? she asks Nate. He thinks for a few moments and says to make life important. Which is a good answer. Yeah, it really is. It's like like you can't have good without bad, or you know, like you need the opposite in order to make the balance like no, it's true.
SPEAKER_00And if you think about it show wise, if you think about it like this is the last episode of the series in which it's not, um that would be one of like that would be a really good line for a character to have, especially a main character, to close out the whole purpose of like the show.
SPEAKER_01I think a lot of shows did that sometimes, especially if they didn't. And know if they were going to be renewed. That they tried to wrap things up just in case they weren't. Um and I'm not saying that that's what they did, but but I could buy it if it is.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um okay. So now we're gonna move on to David.
SPEAKER_02Davy.
SPEAKER_01So David has a revelation of his own this season finale. He's still haunted by the visions of Mark Foster, the young gay man who was beaten to death in the previous episode, and serves as the avatar of David's self-revulsion. And Mark's ghost is still the mangled, hideous visage that his attackers turned him into. Rather than the sweet-faced kid that he was before he was reshaped by hate. Well, it's really like a good way to put it, right? Like sad, but reshaped by hate.
SPEAKER_00It really is. And so we see David and Rico bonding in the basement and chatting over Lillian's body. And so they're talking about the reconstruction, and they were really saying that, like, there's nothing to really do. She's in great condition. Rico makes a comment like she has thick hair for a woman her age, and her hair pretty much covers where she got hit with a golf ball. It was like right in her temple. I don't know if you noticed that in the beginning, but I did. And so it's just a minor, well, it's a major bruise, obviously, but it's like a minor reconstruction for them compared to like the woman whose face hit is fine outside of the car and the third of the Chloe Orchid. Yeah. How do you remember this, Lisa?
SPEAKER_01I don't know. It must be the alcohol.
SPEAKER_00Well, they did bring her. Oh my god, they did bring her back again when they were having the um the whole thing.
SPEAKER_01My sister's dog's name is Chloe.
SPEAKER_00Maybe that's why you remember.
SPEAKER_01Maybe.
SPEAKER_00But while they're talking to the basement, a fax comes through, and David thinks that it's well, this is wait, this is the second fax, right?
SPEAKER_01Because wasn't the first one about uh from Tracy and like now she wanted something else?
SPEAKER_00I think it was a joke because she had been bothering them, and so maybe she okay.
SPEAKER_01So maybe it was because this is the second fax. The first fax, if it wasn't from Tracy, they made a joke about it, and then the second fax was like, What did what does she want now? Like, so go ahead.
SPEAKER_00And so Rico goes quiet and hands him a piece of paper, and written and handwriting big on the piece of paper says, Father Jack is gay. Now, before we continue on, I just wanted to say that also during this scene, not mentioned in the A V Club's uh synopsis. Rico also is just like, you don't pay me enough. And then the next breath, like actually in the next scene, I think, he's like, Oh, and can I have my uh BB's party upstairs? Because I still see you guys as family.
SPEAKER_01I didn't I wasn't really sure what to do with Rico, honestly, because it seemed like at first he was trying to just appear like everything was normal, and he did make a comment like that when David said something about how this funeral was gonna bring in a lot of money, and he's like, Oh, not that I'll see it because I'm not a partner. And David's like, Well, we did give you a raise, yeah, and then and which was like, Okay, fine. Like, he he had been looking to be a partner, so fine. Maybe he just wants to go back to the way things were, maybe he just doesn't want to be awkward with David, then don't make a comment like that, like well, yeah, and then the next breath say, Can I have my kids party?
SPEAKER_00And David's like, but the funeral's from three to six, and Rico goes, Yeah, but like after.
SPEAKER_01Right. And then it's like, oh, because you know, I really I also think of you guys as family, and I'm like, I really want to just take him at face value, and I can't now.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he he dug like a double plot, he didn't even dig a grave for himself, he dug like a double triple plot. He like from last episode, he's just not redeeming himself at all, he's going in the opposite direction, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but so Father Jack is a member of the church where David is the deacon. Um, and so David returns to the deacon's council. It says the assemblage of old busybodies who shape parish policy. David listens as hardliner Walter Kriegenthaler rails against Father Jack, whose transgression was to perform a marriage ceremony outside the auspices of the church for two lesbians, like the horror.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's against Episcopalian doctrine, so obviously Jack has to go. Walter says. He assumes David will agree, but no, David declares his homosexuality to the group. I love the little lady because as he's as David's fighting with uh Kriegenthaler, and she's just kind of like, yeah, yeah. Like you can tell she hates that motherfucker. Um he looks up and there's Mark, still covered in bruises and still laughing at David. This scene when they're talking about like, oh, because gay is is against whatever rules or whatever, and David's like, so if I I wish I could remember his exact words, but basically he's like so you're saying that if if they're gay, like they don't deserve love, you know, something to that effect, and I think that's why they said to him, Why, David, are you gay?
SPEAKER_00And he was like, Yes, I am.
SPEAKER_01Well, no, because yes, but first he says that they're not strong enough to overcome it, and David's like, you don't overcome that, on and the only way you can know that is if it's something that you've had to overcome, and then he says, or you would know if it's something that you're not strong enough to overcome. Are you gay? And then that's when he was like, Yeah, yeah, but it's like I I love when people are like, oh no, you can pray the gay way, or you can overcome it, really. Because could you pray enough to like you, Mr. Straight Man, could you pray enough to become gay? Could you go to camp and make them turn you? No, you're gonna say, hell fucking no. So, why would you think that somebody else could change? If you can't change, why would you think somebody else could? Like, you're just you're just fucking dumb. Like, you're just fucking dumb. All right. Um, it's so at the church now you see David and Father Jack, and they're having a conversation, and David's like with this newfound fucking fire up his ass, and he's like, No, we're gonna fight. And Father Jack is like, we're gonna pick our battles, and this is not it. David calls him out for being for not caring and being gay, and Father Jack is like, Yeah, I got that a lot, but I'm not gay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he was like, How can you not care? You're gay. He's like, I'm not gay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00He's like, Wanna drink some more?
SPEAKER_01And then um he offers David more scotch, and David again sees Mark telling David, yeah, go ahead, drink, drink, drink. Um afterwards, David goes right to Keith. They're sitting there, they're having coffee, and David is just, you know, with his with his newfound gay pride fire, as the A V Club puts it.
SPEAKER_00Um, and he's just ranting to Keith.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's ranting to Keith how like they're not gonna make him disappear. And you know, Keith is just like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you you go, boy, you go. And then it's like, okay, but I gotta go now because I gotta go see my new boyfriend Eddie.
SPEAKER_00But and my boyfriend saw you at the other night at the video.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, he brings it up. So I guess in case if you didn't catch it, like this would have been their way of telling us, like, hey, that was Eddie, because probably nobody caught it. Um David also mentions that he's reading at the church, and and so then the next thing is we see them at the church. David goes to read. Um, it says that he recites from Psalm 31:1. In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust? Never sorry, let me never be ashamed, deliver me in thy righteousness. And he stops and repeats, let me never be ashamed. And it dawns on David as he tells the congregation that he has been ashamed his entire life, that it has led him to make tragic mistakes. What if instead he had faith that maybe God really is love, like we say? He smiles and says, How am I supposed to spread God's love throughout the world when I deny it to myself? Okay, I'm not a very good, like, churchy person, but if I went to church and heard someone say that, I think I might be converted. I'm just saying. Yeah, like it was just such a pure and beautiful sentiment, and more people need to hear that, and more people need to feel that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, maybe it's been a bit since you and I went to church. Maybe there are churches that are like, hey, we're people too.
SPEAKER_01Um I mean, I'm sure that they are there are, but in like the traditional Brooklyn, Staten Island Catholic Church, it's not really there.
SPEAKER_02No.
SPEAKER_01But so then when he says this, he he imagines like because then all we see is like everyone cle uh cheering for him and clapping, but you realize that he imagined it, and actually everybody is like, you can hear a pin drop silent. Um, but it says it says that the imagined cheers speak to David's swell of pride, which is cool, I guess.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he he he's starting to deserve it, and it's the fact that David doesn't even mention homosexuality or being gay in his speech, it's not about him being gay, like that's that's David's whole breakthrough.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and and then when he leaves the church, he sees Mark again, except this time he's not like dead, Mark, he's alive, Mark. Are you laughing at me?
SPEAKER_00No, I don't know why it was sunny in my head.
SPEAKER_01Like, he's not dead now, he's alive. Mark says to him, Thank you. And you see, this is what it took to heal this part of David's self. He tried anger, defiance, honesty, and courage, but what it took was an acceptance of love. This is the change that causes Keith to view David with a newfound affection in his eyes. Because they have a few words, and David is like, Oh my god, you came. And Keith likes, yeah, Keith's like, yeah, I had to see what you know what you were gonna do. So that was nice. Like they invite him to go out, but David declines. He says he has to work. Um, and there was somebody with Keith, but they didn't mention who it was, but it wasn't Eddie, but they didn't mention who it was. Like, I don't know if it was like a relative or it was the other guy with him. Because they remember he was like, Oh, like good speech, or like you did great, and then he he taps David on the shoulder and walks away after they're like because they're like, Oh, we're we're gonna go get food. And when David declines, he he's like, Yeah, okay, like bye, and he walks, and then David stayed behind talking to Keith after that for like a minute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, didn't even realize that. Wow, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it it wasn't Eddie because this guy was black, but I don't know who it was. Like, I didn't I didn't get the idea that it was like somebody he was in a relationship with. Like, I felt like that might have been awkward. It seemed like somebody who may have even known Nate. Big um, sorry, David, because yeah, he was like, Oh hey, like, you know, really you did great up there. It wasn't like if you didn't know the person, I feel like you would have been like, hi, this is so and so, or hi, you know, I'm so and so nice to meet you. Yeah, so I feel like the fact that they didn't do that was somebody he knew. So that's why I was like, I don't know if it's somebody in his family or maybe another cop. I don't know, but I guess it's not that important, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But I think the most important part though is that David healed his inner child.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Speaking of child, let's talk about Claire, the fucking child duh.
SPEAKER_01She's bad idea after bad idea.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. I just feel like for being like a legitimate like adolescence. I'm seeing her in such adult situations.
SPEAKER_01I know the the sh the Claire scenes open with her and that Parker chick. And they're just like BSing. She asks Claire about Gabe, and you know, and she's like, Yeah, Gabe is fine. And Parker's like, Oh, by the way, I'm having a party, bring him. And at just at that moment, I'm like, Are you doing this on purpose? Because we all can see that this is a really, really bad idea. Um but whatever. She's like, Oh, okay. When Claire gets home, we see now we see her with Senior, and they're both smoke sitting on the couch and they're smoking, and she's watching home movies, but it's it's only David and Nate, with him, you know, doing the movies of them on the stairs. And she's like, How come you didn't do that with me? And and basically he's like, Ah, you know, by the time we got to you, it was like been there, done that. But then, but then he said um that maybe some of the attention you never got will motivate you to get off your lazy ass and do something interesting with your life. And it's at that moment that Ruth comes in and slams the door. And even though we haven't talked about what Ruth was doing, we can get into that later. But the point is that she slams the door and you see that Claire wakes up. So all that stuff with Senior was just a dream.
SPEAKER_00Claire pretty much then tells her mom, like, hey, I'm gonna go to Ruth is on the phone, which we will get to what that means. And so Ruth is kind of angry on the phone with somebody, and while she's like yelling at the person on the phone, she's also telling Claire, like, I've never heard of this Parker before. Who's Parker? And she's like, uh, she's my friend. She's like, Well, have her mother call me if you're gonna stay over. And Claire's like, uh, and Claire did the thing with the eyes again, like, uh, like, since when do you care? Right. I feel like she would have said that if she didn't have a filter, but she has enough of a filter not to say that.
SPEAKER_01Did your parents like make you do shit like that or do shit like that where of course, yeah, mine too. But they weren't stupid enough to be like, have them call me. It was like, no, I want the phone number and I'm gonna call myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you know what it actually was? It was the fact that I didn't drive in high school, and so if I wanted to go, and none of my friends drove in high school, and so if we wanted to go anywhere, we were living on the side of the island without the train. But our friends were living on the side of the island with the train, and so somebody's parents were driving us to and fro, and all the parents were tight, so they they knew where we were, they didn't know what we were doing, but they knew where we were.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, our parents. Well, if we went to somebody's house, they knew where we were, but other than that, they didn't nobody had cars, like, and we walked, yeah. We hopped on a train, but like nobody took us nowhere. It was like, unless, unless, like, explicitly I'm going to be at so-and-so's house, you don't necessarily, you know, there was nothing back then. It was just like, uh, yeah, wait till they come back home.
SPEAKER_00Well, I I went to school by the mall, and when I was in Staten Island in high school, because I I lived in a bunch of different places in Staten Island, but at the time I lived right near the mall too. And so high school to my house was a five-minute walk, and I was like the only one in my friend group that lived that close to the school, and so and then from our school to the mall was maybe like a 10-minute walk, like it was right down the block, it was just a giant block. And so a lot of times people would say we're going to Britney's house after. There were no like find my friends at that point, no trackers, but they would go to the mall instead. And so that's what it was like. Oh, we know Britney's close by, and you're gonna walk there. Okay, we'll pick you up from Britney's house. And when they were done doing whatever, they would come to my house and get picked up.
SPEAKER_01I would have done the same thing.
SPEAKER_00I wouldn't, I wouldn't have gotten away with that just because of logistics, but yeah. Anyway, speaking of shit that Claire can get away with. Oh, yeah, yeah. Well, Gabe can get away with. This is pretty much what happened to Gabe. He goes to the party with Claire at um Parker's house. Parker's actually having like a full-on adult fucking party. She's like hooking up with like an adult. There are adults taking Coke off the counter. And Gabe ends up talking with some like guys, like peers. It's like, and like they seem kind of normal. Like they just seem like giddy fucking high school boys, like they just yeah, like giddy fucking stoner boys. That's what I mean. Like, it it's just they're just kids, like he is, and I feel like we don't really see him as a kid, but we don't see him as an adult. He's like in that between in like a weird way.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but the last time that we saw him with his friends in the hallway, like his friends were jerks, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But like that's what I mean. Like, I feel like he was in like a normal situation with these kids. Like it, I just feel like they were trying to play down or actually play accurately Gabe's age when he was talking to the boys, but then they said some shit like, Oh, we got the beers, because we we went on a move, a beer cow, and he was like, What's a beer cow? And so they're like, We'll show you, and pretty much like they just move at like the person in the liquor store until they get weirded out and they run away with the beers, which is like such like an adolescent-y type thing.
SPEAKER_01I know. I mean, it was a funny story, right? And like if you picture it in your head, it's funny, but like that's it, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Gabe takes it one step further, actually, multiple steps further. They're at the liquor store, they're doing like the beer cow, and they start mooing at the counter. The guy behind the counter is like, what the fuck's going on? And when it's Gabe's turn to move at the guy behind the counter, instead he pulls out a gun from like his pants and he points in and he goes, Say moo to the guy. Then he says, Give me all the cash in the register, takes the beers, and he leaves. And you see through the camera in this liquor store that Gabe's face is like in full view.
SPEAKER_01And not only that, but he leaves Claire at the party to go do this. He doesn't tell her where she's at, so she's at the party and she's looking for him, and nobody knows where he's at. But then he comes back and he's like, Oh, you missed me, and they make out and whatever. And then it's the next morning. But so you see them waking up on the couch, and Claire has a dream about Senior again, and he's he's doing like a home video of her, and she's like, No, that it's too late now. Um, and he and Senior says to him, says to her that he likes her boyfriend, and Claire's a little like like huh? And he's like, Oh, I I do like him, he'll be headed over to my neck of the woods pretty soon.
SPEAKER_00Which wakes Claire up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. Because that that's a very jarring thought, especially with what he's been through. But yeah, and and she wakes up, she rolls over, and they just have like a sweet moment, but then that's like I think that's it for them, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I was gonna say, um, I'm looking in A. V. Club's show notes, and that that was pretty much it. Because I was gonna say, after that, I feel like she woke up, she saw Parker and that like very older person, that bald guy that was definitely like 40s. Like, there's there's no way that like he literally, no, not that when you're 40, you're bald, just that like he was definitely older than her. He looked like he could be in like his late 30s, early 40s, like, and she's literally supposed to be 17, 16.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00No, he he definitely looks like one of those like Hollywood people that like try to act like they're still a kid, but they're clearly not.
SPEAKER_01But all right, so we're gonna we're gonna move on to Ruth, and then we're just about done.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, we do get one more Claire scene, Claire goes home. And then Claire, like when Claire comes home, Ruth starts venting to her about what was going on. And Ruth goes, guys, who needs them anyway?
SPEAKER_01Wasn't that I thought that was when Ruth walked in the first time. When she said she got fired and it was like sexual harassment.
SPEAKER_00Oh, maybe it was.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you're right. Whoopsie. Alright, whatever. If we think of it, we'll just add it in. Alright. Um okay, so at the flower shop, Ruth is working and she's on the phone making a date with Hiram. Nikolai walks by, he overhears, and then afterwards tells her that she has to work late. And when Ruth refuses and calls him out on his bullshit because he's only doing that because he doesn't like her dating him. Nikolai fires her and she's like, You can't do that. And then I'm sorry, but I laughed both times. I watched, and Nikolai is like, I just do do that.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_01And he's just like so serious about it. I love it. Like, he's just reminding me like of a like a temperamental toddler, and I loved it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, he definitely like has a childlike attitude, but I think I texted, yeah, I texted you when I was watching it, like right before the show. Yeah, it was the first time I noticed this, and I'm like, wait a second, is that what I think it is? Roots on the phone making the the plan a high room to go out to dinner, and she's literally like trying to like prune or like trim a really fucking dead overflower basil plant.
SPEAKER_01And now here I went back and looked at the plant after you text, uh-huh, and I was like, if that's basil, that's the weirdest fucking stem I have ever seen. So you don't know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, they let it get no, I know it's basil, they let it get woody. The leaves were really small, and basil, when it flowers, it like gets long, like it gets taller.
SPEAKER_01I know, but I've never seen a stem like the the middle part that thick.
SPEAKER_00Woody. Yeah, it's because they didn't prune it when it had to be pruned, but you can see there's like barely any leaves on it, and she's not just like trimming. Like, what the fuck are you doing? It's dead. Pull it out of the ground. When basil flowers, the leaves get bitter and then eventually just lose their taste. So the plant's pretty much dead when it flowers. You're not really supposed to let it, you're supposed to pinch the flowers away. And she the flowers are fully fucking there, she didn't pinch them off. And it's not like they were growing them for the bouquets because she didn't even take whatever she clipped and bring it back to her workstation. Yeah, I don't know what she's a shitty worker, no wonder why she got fired. And this is around the time where she goes home and Claire's there, and then she says, Like, I think I got fired because of sexual. But who needs him? Who needs guidance?
SPEAKER_01And Claire's just like, yeah, yeah. And then when Ruth walks away, Claire is kind of like, What the fuck just happened?
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. So eventually we get to dinner with Ruth and Hiram. And Hiram's like, I he's like, I'm so afraid to say this, but like I met someone and I I think I want to pursue it. And she's like, Okay. And then okay, cool. She was like, Let's order. He's like, I feel really bad about this. And she's like, Don't let's order dessert, I'll make you feel better. Yeah. And and she's just eating so innocently. And he's looking at her, like, what the fuck is wrong with you, lady? Like that, that is his face.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_00If you can read his face. And the more.
SPEAKER_01I'm sorry, what is wrong? And and the more that Ruth is just like, yeah, no big deal. The more Hiram is like, but no, but yeah, but it is a big deal. But and and Ruth is just like, well, obviously, it's not if I don't care.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, she's like, obviously, you don't care if you want to be with somebody else, and I haven't cared, and we know that we haven't been here for a while. He's shocked. He is so shocked.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, so the the date ends, whatever. The next morning, she goes to the flower shop because she she left some stuff that she wanted to pick up, but Nikolai is there, and she can tell that he's been there all night. And she mentions that, and and he tells her about what kind of lover that she needs. And I don't know if this was cringy or cool because he said that she's the kind of woman who needs a good lover because she's so scared of feeling, and that she's scared of her own heart, and that she should have a man who can touch her there, who sees her beauty. And Ruth is just like, let me jump into your arms right now. And she does, and they did. And then and then basically she is putting her clothes back on and realizes that she missed her son's reading at church for some dirty sex in the flower shop.
SPEAKER_00Typical Ruth.
SPEAKER_01I know, only thinking about herself, and she but but you know what? I give her a little credit because she turns around and she's like, I'm never gonna marry you. She's like, I'll be your friend and your lover, but I will never be your wife. It's like, but who asked you? But like, good on you for knowing your boundaries, but who asked you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, but like at the same time, like why why is there two discussions of marriage already in this episode?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, like boundaries.
SPEAKER_00I guess boundaries were set in this episode, I guess. Brenda was like, we're getting married, and Ruth was like, we're not, right?
SPEAKER_01But I feel like it's probably gonna end up being the opposite.
SPEAKER_00Maybe maybe, and we get to see that in all the other seasons, maybe.
SPEAKER_01So the end of the episode, at the end of the episode, the the viewing ends for um Aunt Lillian, and you see everyone in Rico and Vanessa's family just kind of like storm into the the funeral home to have their party. And there's field and there's music, and like the you know, like all the people are happy, they're smiling, they're they're having fun, you know. Um and so I like the way they wrote it here. So I'm just gonna read it. And it says, just as life needs an ending to define itself, it also needs a beginning. And everyone here is gathering to celebrate a beginning. Because the you know, the christening is like your the beginning of your journey as you know. A Christian, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Like now you're saved.
SPEAKER_00You're you're officially a Christian once you're baptized, yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and you see Nate Nay surveys the room thinking about how lucky he is. He's there with Brenda, and behind it, you see Senior, who's on the staircase, and he's looking at everything as well. He doesn't appear as part of anyone's vision, he's just simply the lingering spirit of the man look of sorry, he's just the lingering spirit of the man looking over his brood. And his pre sorry his presence delivers a point poignant message. Nate may know he's lucky. Nathaniel knows it even better. In death, he has a better perspective on life than anyone who's still on the inside. The inescapable irony, of course, is that his superior viewpoint goes hand in hand with an impossible distance. He doesn't get to be part of the joy that he can now understand so well. As he must, Nathaniel must Nathaniel walks up the stairs and out of our view. So I feel like that's how the episode ends.
SPEAKER_00Well, actually, the episode especially ends with Brenda kind of hugging Nate and them just like kind of standing and canoodling with each other. Yeah, and that was really it. And I mean, we know that Brenda doesn't know about Nate, and we know that Nate hasn't told anybody, but he knows what's going on with his health.
SPEAKER_01But the part of him walking up the stairs, I feel as if that's supposed to be representative of him kind of going to heaven. Yep, but then also there was that scene in Claire's dream with the boys on the steps, and so I I feel like there has to be some bigger meaning for the stairs because it was like the stairs was in that scene, and they were young boys, and then it's almost like like where you started and where you end, or something like that, but I'm not really exactly sure how to finish that thought.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you know, maybe they kind of left it up to interpretation like that, or kind of obscure because they weren't really done telling the story of the Fisher family, even if it didn't get renewed. There's sessions where that like this isn't a show that can only survive one season. This has a story that needs to continue.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. I um I couldn't I couldn't find the knock knock. Yeah, like knock knock knocking on Heaven's Door, then maybe but that's the only that honestly that was the one and only thing that I could think of. But I feel like that's just on the nose. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Lillian got knocked on the head with the golf ball.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that is true.
SPEAKER_00That that could make sense.
SPEAKER_01Um some of the excuse me, some of some of the things that they wrote in the notes was about the outdated tech pager effects machine. I was gonna say it's really showing their age, and Tracy Burns a C D. Um, okay, when David is in the church, the stained glass, yeah, and David notices, and it it's I think it's supposed to be like a priest, and a child is like kneeling before him, like but really it just looks like the kid is giving the priest head.
SPEAKER_00You know, I was gonna say, like, were controversies known at that time about the Catholic Church?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, but I maybe they just thought it was like it's like an Easter egg that they put in the church, you know, like a Disney movie. Or the priests were like, because they were like, ha ha ha, look at what we're doing. Or they did those innocently, and the priests stared at it so long that they're like, hmm, I think I know what they're really doing. Let's go try it. Grab a kid. I don't know. I don't know. Is it like art imitating life or life imitating art? But the point was that David sees it and he actually kind of gets a laugh out of it. But you get the feeling that before this episode, David either wouldn't have interpreted it that way or couldn't find the humor in it. Like he would have been horrified if he noticed it. Or he may have just been oblivious, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00And lastly, it seems like the people from the A V Club, as well as us, um, really don't like Rico. Yeah, he definitely is in a downward slope on everybody's like he just like I said, it was a plot last week, and this week's a double plot. Like he is the grave digger still.
SPEAKER_01He's he's still my grave digger. Actually, no, I I'm sorry. Gabe is my gravedigger this week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but the whole gun thing, he definitely, yeah. He you know what he did? He he was prepping, he like marked the outline to the grave he's gonna dig.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because the truth of the matter is that he was until Gabe pulled that shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But I can't now I can't remember the quote.
SPEAKER_00Um say mu.
SPEAKER_01It should have been. You know what? I'm I'm gonna go with um Nikolai. That'll have that'll be my quote. I just do do that.
SPEAKER_00I just do do that.
SPEAKER_01I love it. He just reminded me of a toddler, and I think that that's why I just got such a kick out of it. Because he was just so like, yeah, but but we made it through season one. Do you have any stray observations for this episode?
SPEAKER_00No, not really. I was gonna say if I had to pick a quote of the week, it would be either we gave you a raise last week, or um it would be what Nate was saying to Tracy, how life has definitely been important.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was good, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But otherwise, um, I like besides Nate Senior, I don't think there have been any um friends who are no longer living that have traveled throughout different episodes. I mean, Chloe's body, yes, was featured in the episode. Right. But for Marcus or Mark to show up in last episode and this episode just tells that like his story wasn't finished. And I like how they really did finish out episode 12 story and episode 13.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was nice to see the continuation. And that and that it was almost as if David's internal struggle and his resolution gave Mark resolution and and also allowed Mark to love himself at the same time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Now, Lisa, before we wrap up, why don't you tell me one thing you want to see in season two?
SPEAKER_02Ooh.
SPEAKER_01Um Okay, this is like so it doesn't have to be addiction, it could just be a want. Yeah, no, this is like um shit show type quality, but I'd love to see Brenda get knocked up and them have to deal with a baby. Yeah, because it's in the car.
SPEAKER_00Because what Nate mentioned that to her in the car right before the accident, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because he she was like something about if you ever thought of kids, and he's like, You don't want kids, and she's like, I know, but what if I do? And so, like, she doesn't want kids, and I think that she she might be an okay mom, but like I think that that would totally throw a wrench into everything. Could you imagine Ruth as a grandma? She's likely so like that would be a shit show. Um, I would I would honestly, I'm such like a basic bitch, but I would like to see Keith and David get back together.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, wouldn't we all?
SPEAKER_01That's what I would like to see. I would like to see Gabe get the help that he needs and Claire to never see him ever again.
SPEAKER_00Um that's gonna be vice. Well, I'm not saying that no, no, no, I'm not saying that it happens, but I feel like what you're saying should be vice versa. That Claire gets the help that she needs and Gabe never sees her again. Well, because that's what it kind of led us to believe would happen at the end of the episode. They caught his face on camera. And Claire, I mean, look, if you go to the school psychologist, that doesn't mean you need help, but yeah, she does need to work on herself.
SPEAKER_01I mean, then again, we all need help, so yes, we do.
unknownThat's true.
SPEAKER_01Um, but yeah, aside from that, I'm not really sure if there's anything. I think Ruth needs to calm down. I think she needs to maybe consider uh Xanax once in a while or something, because she just I mean it's funny, but like I don't want to live with that person either who who can't kind of control their outbursts. Yeah, so maybe Ruth can take a chill pill.
SPEAKER_00Yo, she did take a chill pill. Remember when she took ecstasy?
SPEAKER_01That was awesome.
SPEAKER_00She was awesome.
SPEAKER_01She got awesome. She was fucking normal.
SPEAKER_00She was normal. Yeah, she let her hair down. She did, she woke up with the leaf in her hair. Oh shit.
SPEAKER_01But yeah. Um but that's it. I think that's all I got right now.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say, our season four of Sassin's tip and season two of Six Feet Under is not too far away. Not as far away as season one was, and not as far away as clickbait was. Okay, but I I really want to get into season two with you. I feel like I feel like you're really gonna like season two.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm not gonna do it.
SPEAKER_00It starts off on a bang, so I feel like immediately it's gonna draw us back in, especially a bang that gets Brenda knocked up. No, I'm not telling you that. Okay. But with that, before we wrap up, Lisa and I were discussing how we kind of feel, especially Lisa brought it up, and I agree with her actually, that we kind of want to give back a little bit more to not just like our local community, but just you know, the world around us. And so Lisa and I were thinking of a plan to do that. And whilst discussing some ideas, um, the topic of my future doggy was brought up. Um, we had mentioned in the pre-show how this weekend I'm adopting a dog. And so, Lisa, if it's okay, I'd like to shout out his agency, his um what's the word?
SPEAKER_01His rescue.
SPEAKER_00Thank you. His rescue. Um, so my little guy, Tito, is coming from Texas, but the rescue is based out of Connecticut. His rescue is called Four Little Paws, number four, little paws. And I was very confused because we live in New Jersey and I was on Pathfinder and I put my mileage as like 20 to 50 miles away from me. All of a sudden, Connecticut shows up, and that's not true. So for some reason, they they really did something to catch my eye, which was amazing. And while scrolling through their dogs, I happened upon my little boy. Turns out my little boy was part of a situation where there was some hoarding and some neglect going on, and my boy, along with 23 other dogs, had no fur anymore, were completely malnourished, had skin diseases, and were being forced to surrender by some fuckers in Texas who own them. And so the way that Texas works, which I learned from Tito's foster, is that as soon as dogs are surrendered by law in Texas, they go right to the kill list and they go right to the top of the kill list. And so, with that, um, the owner of Four Little Paws called up one of her fosters that she has around the country. She called up the foster in Texas and said, How many dogs can you take? There's 24 going on the kill list tomorrow. My shelter was only able to take eight. Well, my my foster was only able to take eight. One of those eight was Tito. My foster is a medical foster. They've been doing this for 20 years, and they honestly, I don't understand. Like they have full-time jobs. One of them takes care of all the dogs medically and nurses them back to health. And the other one, every two weeks, drives a van up from Texas to Connecticut, making stops along the way to deliver dogs to their forever homes. And so my little boy's coming to me from Texas, and they're driving all the way up from Texas to New Jersey to make sure that he has a happy home. They kept him for an extra two weeks because Lisa and I had our vacation, like mentioned in the pre-show, um, which I we weren't able to cancel. And honestly, the vacation was fun. But they they kept my boy for an extra two weeks and fed him and still gave him love and health and and cared for him and did so much extra stuff that you and I sometimes would say, not necessarily me and Lisa, but like, you know, us as like an audience would sometimes be like, Oh, that's too much extra for complete strangers. I don't want to do that. If somebody's too far away from you when you're walking in the door, you don't even hold the door open for them. Not you, Lisa, but us generally, right?
SPEAKER_01No, but me too.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, yeah. And like, what would it only take? A couple of like minutes or like even just a couple more seconds out of our day. And look at what these people do all around our country for dogs, for for cats, for animals. It's absolutely amazing. And I have so much gratitude towards these people that I don't know what to do for them besides pay for my dog. But I I really don't know what else to do for them. I I think they're absolutely amazing people, they deserve the world, and they really have been a pleasure to work with. I I get video updates, I get text messages from the owner of the rescue, bending over backwards, going out of her way to make sure these dogs have happy homes and uh second chances at life. So if you're thinking about rescuing a dog and you live anywhere from Texas to Connecticut, please look into for a little pause.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and if you can and even if you you're too far to adopt, um if it if it so moves you, you know, I'm sure that they can use donations or anything.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and we'll we'll put the info in the show notes, like where they can find even like whatever info you have, like whether it's social media, whatever, we can put the info in the show notes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'll throw their website. I'm pretty sure they have like a donate button on their website. But hey, since you're if you're donating to poor little pause, you might as well throw some money for coffee.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I like coffee.
SPEAKER_00I like wine too. So it could go towards wine.
SPEAKER_01It could. It could. Um, so you mentioned the pre-show. Um, if you haven't checked out the oh Agnes!
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, I was like, who is that? Oh my god, we get that at the end of our season, Agnes is calling in. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um oh sorry. So what I was gonna say is that check out the pre-show for some highlights and stuff from our vacation. Um but yeah, it's it's a little raunchy, um, it's a little funny, it's a little anti-Semitic, not on our part.
SPEAKER_00No, not on our part. Far from opposite on our part.
SPEAKER_01But uh, yeah, and then and until then, we're working on some new stuff for season for the next season, and hopefully we will either update you once we know the deeds, or we'll update you uh once a new season starts. And until then, you know, you can always find us at SassinStips.com. Drink responsibly, do not drink and drive. And until next time, I'm Lisa. I'm Remy.
SPEAKER_00And we are out of here. Thanks for listening, guys.
