Hi, and welcome to this bonus episode of Assassin's Sips. Today we are going to talk about Temptation Island season one, episode one. Actually, I don't even know what the name of the episode was, but I'm your one of your hosts. I'm Lisa, and today I'm sipping I'm just sipping on my fancy water. And with me I have a new co-host, and it is yet to be seen if this is a temporary or permanent solution.
SPEAKER_00I'm uh Mr. Lisa. And I'm here temporarily until she finds a better solution. That is not me.
SPEAKER_01What are you sipping on?
SPEAKER_00Two guesses. It's water, of course.
SPEAKER_01Is it brown water?
SPEAKER_00It's brown water. But water's in there because there's ice.
SPEAKER_01Oh okay.
SPEAKER_00A little bit of a little bit of whiskey.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Agnes left us. So temporarily. Well we hope. We hope she's taking another hiatus and it's not permanent. So we watched Temptation Island.
SPEAKER_00Very interesting uh watch.
SPEAKER_01Do you have any hot takes?
SPEAKER_00I don't know why people are stupid in this world and they would do that to themselves.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm not gonna lie. I kind of wanna just like pretend that you and I need the you know, just to get a vacation, but I'm gonna have to fuck a bitch up.
SPEAKER_00Listen. It's called Temptation Island for a reason.
SPEAKER_01No, I know. I know. I I mean yeah.
SPEAKER_00And I'm sure there's rules and regulations of like, yeah, you're supposed to kind of entertain this uh level of debauchery. Whether if you physically go forward with it, that's really your choice. But I don't know since I've I've never watched it, I've heard things about it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, this is my first time too.
SPEAKER_00And I I don't like the concept.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why anyone would want to put themselves through that.
SPEAKER_00It's very, it's very uh it's very jarring.
SPEAKER_01So the whole premise is there's four couples who are trying to decide to like shit or get off the pot, so to speak. And so they put themselves into this reality show setting where they are separated from one another, and then there's a house for the women, a house for the men, but then they're also surrounded by like all of these gorgeous singles, like they're all good looking.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they're they're good looking in their quote unquote uh bunny finger or uh, you know, they're quote unquote there to look for love. But if you think about reality TV, it's it's usually not. Yeah, they're they're they're looking to either at this point, you know, pump up their numbers for their OnlyFans or, you know, uh well or whatever they're doing social media-wise to Yeah, and then the whole thing is the singles are picked for the couples, you know, specifically.
SPEAKER_01They they see what those couples are looking for in a mate, and now they're like cherry picking singles who have those qualities between.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, who have somewhat similar qualities because again, you're going to put people on there that, you know, are saying all the right things. You know, it's like going on a first date, you know, they're oh, so what do you oh yeah, this is what I'm looking for when I'm in a man or woman, and this is what I want. I I I want, you know, a partner that's going to love and respect me. And it's just like, yes, that's why you spend 20 hours a week in the gym building a six-pack.
SPEAKER_01Maybe they want their partner to wash clothes on their abs. If you had a six-pack, would you let me wash clothes on your abs?
SPEAKER_00Probably once.
SPEAKER_01I literally say you don't wash clothes.
SPEAKER_00Listen, this is your show. I'm trying to be respectful.
SPEAKER_01I'm not so good at washing clothes. I mean, I'm okay at it once I actually go do it.
SPEAKER_00It's not it's not the uh well, no, technique and some stuff. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I know who I am. It's it's uh you wake up every day and choose me.
SPEAKER_00I I mean I do. But you're usually sleeping when I wake up, so I don't have to face that reality for a few hours. And then oh crap, yeah, I did.
SPEAKER_01Well, anyhow, there's four couples. The couples are Nicole and Carl, who are from Chicago. They've been together for two and a half years. There's trust issues there, clearly, because I feel like all the couples here have trust issues.
SPEAKER_00Not necessarily.
SPEAKER_01Well, all right. So she had a boy from when they met, and he's like, yeah, that scares me.
SPEAKER_00It didn't scare him when he was doing it.
SPEAKER_01But he's scared to get married.
SPEAKER_00Well, I yeah, you know, marriage is a scary thing.
SPEAKER_01I know.
SPEAKER_00I'm still scared every day, and it's been 20. Well, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_01Technically, we've been together for 20 years.
SPEAKER_00For 20 years. But together for, you know, 28. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Sherry and I don't know how it was it Javen.
SPEAKER_00I think it was Javen.
SPEAKER_01Javen? So they're from San Francisco, they've been together for eight years. She said a few years ago he cheated, and now she wants him to prove he's changed.
SPEAKER_00Well, that's a red flag all in itself. She is a red flag.
SPEAKER_01She is a red flag.
SPEAKER_00She is a red flag.
SPEAKER_01The next couple is John and Katie from Fort Worth, Texas. They've been together for three years. They met on Bumble, and she thinks that he's not alpha enough, and he and she wants a more traditional man. Well, she wants a more traditional Texas man, but like I mean, not to talk like I I can get the allure, but it But you got a man who's looking at you like he loves you, he's taking care of you, he's cooking for you, and you're like, I I need a man with a horse. Like, I don't I don't get it.
SPEAKER_00I I I I want him to I want him to ignore me, drink a ton of Budweiser and Well, no, that's not that's not necessarily taxes, but that's that's everywhere.
SPEAKER_01She wanted to be barefoot and pregnant.
SPEAKER_00Why are you whispering?
SPEAKER_01I'm not. But you always tell a man to figure out. So Okay, all right.
SPEAKER_00You know, that that's how they were raised, I guess. That's how they they they see what um a relationship is. Cause basically if you're if she's from Texas, so uh all the men that she's probably dealt with is, you know, that good old boy mentality. I didn't like that she constantly tells them how he's Right, like not man enough. Yeah, and like that's you that why would you even put yourself in that situation where somebody is someone that you're actually caring for and and showing love and affection for was like, you know what? But you didn't call me a bitch when I disrespected you in front of everybody.
SPEAKER_01Well, they're a little I don't want to say problematic, but I think that they definitely have bigger issues.
SPEAKER_00So it's a huge issue, and I think she's going to be probably one of the most hurt out of the situation because uh he's appears to be a decent guy, and if you didn't put him in this situation, probably nothing ever would have happened until he got sick of you for calling him a bitch all his life.
SPEAKER_01And the last couple is Casey and Evan.
SPEAKER_00The most problematic of them all.
SPEAKER_01Well, so they're from Los Angeles, they've been together for 10 years on and off. Her family is very religious, so according to her family, they're playing house. Remember when you and I used to play house?
SPEAKER_00We played house for 10 years.
SPEAKER_01We sure did. He's wary of marriage because he feels like if everything is okay, why get married? Sounds familiar. But his dad cheated on his mom and then was murdered by the husband of the woman he cheated with.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I could kinda see how it's triggering.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I mean knowing that.
SPEAKER_00He has some trauma.
SPEAKER_01Knowing that trauma and having, you know, a good relationship, I feel like maybe just let him be.
SPEAKER_00But it's just I only say problematic because it's that whole tenure thing.
SPEAKER_01I mean, they But you didn't find it problematic when we were when it was us.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because it was you? No, it's not even that. It's just like we're we're living together. Like nobody was really everyone was more worried about us having kids than they were about us walking down the aisle.
SPEAKER_01Well, except for my mother. Everybody else was like, who cares?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like it was everything was more about uh when are you guys gonna have kids? When you guys gonna have kids? Because it's like, no.
SPEAKER_01When we feel like it. So they all arrive at the island, they get to see the the houses, and then the singles are introduced.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that yeah, that was a complete shit show. Shari. Oh, oh my god.
SPEAKER_01She was not impressed by the singles.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, when she was in front of her boyfriend.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, right. But when the when the women were coming out, and she's like, she she had a a snide remark for everybody, but when the men were coming out, she sat there and smiled. So it's like, all right, well, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So you like the eye candy for yourself, but not for your boyfriend.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which you already saw, most of those women are more attracted than me and have better jobs.
SPEAKER_01And she's not an ugly woman.
SPEAKER_00Like she's no, no, she no, she is not ugly at all.
SPEAKER_01She has, you know, a great physique. Like all the people on the show, uh the couples, they all I mean they're not gonna be able to.
SPEAKER_00They're not putting anyone on TV if they're not they're they're not attractive.
SPEAKER_01Oh, and Casey and Evan, she said she told him take advantage. Yeah, that was And I'm like, I I kinda respect her self-confidence because I guess if you're there, why bother to be there if it's if you're if you're not, but at the same time, like is it because you are gonna take advantage and you know that it'd be wrong. Well, I don't think are you truly just I hate to say it.
SPEAKER_00I don't think there's going to be a single person that doesn't hook up with someone in some way, shape, or form. Whether if they go all the way, right, you know, that's different. Like, I'm not gonna like listen, if all you do, if the worst thing you did on this show was make out with somebody, I don't like, I guess for for the sake of this, I wouldn't say you were cheating. But if you end up in a bush and the bush is moving, and then some guys running down the beach screaming your name.
unknownNo, that's the span.
